Well, I've been going to Lewes since I was 4 or 5... no evening was complete without a trip to Kings. Love it! Yes... they only accept cash, but hey, the ice cream is AWESOME. It is way more busy in the summer now because of the higher amount of tourists compared to a few years ago when it was an amazing secret. But it's worth the wait!!!! MMMMMMMMM!!!

The line was out the door and that didn't stop people from waiting! This little ice cream shop is a great throwback! Loved the atmosphere and the prices were much cheaper than I expected. Would definitely recommend going here if you want a really delicious treat but don't be in a rush. Oh and bring CASH as the don't take plastic.

My daughters favorite ice cream. It's a cool in-town shop. They make there own ice cream. It is consistently smooth and flavorful. The other day I had a chocolate milk shake that was heavenly. I also like the Mint Chip. The Dutch Chocolate with its big dark chocolate chunks is also very popular. One note - it's cash only. No credit cards accepted.

The guy here was working super hard that day! There was a consistent flow of people coming in, and he was taking their orders, $ (cash only) and cleaning up tables in-between breaks. Go him! Anyways, we had the o! cookie (just like cookies 'n cream) and butter brickle (unique but just ok). The ice cream tasted yummy, and there's little scoop cutouts on the tables, haha. Sweeeet.

Old school ice cream parlor. Seasonal favors. Can try samples. Baby cone is perfect size for a small afternoon treat. Milkshakes aren't great though.

I really wanted to like this place. I had chocolate chip ice cream cone - absolutely no taste. How could there be no taste? Awful - what am missing?

"My favorite flavor of ice cream is love." ~ Jarod Kintz Nestled on the main drag in Lewes, and with a semblance that is more like a 1970s Baskin Robbins is King's Ice Cream. Everything here is homemade and tastes like fresh cream right out of the churn. As an added bonus, they serve a baby-sized cone for tiny appetites which is adorable. Cash only.

delicious ice cream, home made, really! locally made and owned, lines outside of families with kids; walk to everything from there

We drove many many miles to enjoy some ice cream, butttt when we arrived at 9:04 pm the staff were cleaning everything and ignored us. The website says that they are open until 11pm. You would think the websites for the business in places that people visit frequently would be up to date... but not this place. So when you decide to visit Kings make sure you call and ask of they're open. So I have to say I didn't get to try any ice cream.

King's offers delicious home-made ice cream (cones, sundaes, and shakes). Don't be put off by the line; it moves fast and you'll be quickly rewarded with a cool, creamy treat. A family tradition for locals and tourists, alike. (Much tastier than the DQ option.) Opens early (10 am) and nicely handles the large after-dinner rush. A Lewes little-league favorite.

By far the best ice cream in Lewes. The DQ and 2 Dips may be close to the beach, but Kings is well worth the walk over the bridge into town. Lots of delicious flavors, hand made in house, friendly staff... You can't go wrong.

My family very much enjoyed this mom and pop I cream shop. We all got baby cones which was the perfect amount to taste the ice cream without the guilt. The chocolate chip ice cream was selfish.

I have been vacationing in Lewes every summer for the last 15 or so years and King's is a must go! My family usually ends up going 3-5 times over the course of our stay... The ice cream is delicious, it's all homemade and you can taste the difference. My personal favorite is the Dutch chocolate. They also make amazing shakes/floats/malts! They have free cups of water on the counter, which for someone like me who is lactose intolerant and needs to take a little pill to eat ice cream is a great thing!

I've been to Lewes twice now, and I make sure to stop by Kings on each visit. They're usually packed and for good reason; the selection of ice cream, the quality of said ice cream, and the service you get are all fantastic! There are a few spots inside to sit down and enjoy your treat, but why do that when Lewes offers so many things to go see and do, and your ice cream is conveniently portable! Make sure to stop by and grab a cone if you're in the area.

Not sure why people love it here. Had butter brickle and the only slight chunk I had was an ice sliver . The servers were nice & friendly, clean store. I threw my ice cream away. For the first time ever. My sister had pistachio with lots of pistachios but excessive almond flavoring. At least she finished her cone!

Definitely the best ice cream place in town. A little pricy, and they only accept cash, but it's still well worth it. A lot better than 2 Dips, and not even comparable to DQ. If you can, go here.

Will not be back. I understand that many businesses at the shore choose to only accept cash. However, a couple of things:1. Put up a sign saying so. It's the 21st century. I expect to be able to use a card if you have no sign. 2. Don't expect me to come back if you treat me like excrement for not knowing that you only take cash. See #1 above.

We love this place! The ice cream is consistently good. There can be a line and they only take cash, but I love that they have water there (why does ice cream make me so thirsty?!).

Couldn't ask for a better location. Quaint little building in the middle of Second St. Great for pictures. The ice cream, however, is just ok. Very basic selection of flavors. I had 3 flavors during 2 visits all of which were a little bland. Also not very creamy (a little icy) which means pieces will easily crumble and fall off your cone when it's still very cold. The thing that bugged me the most is there are NO SPRINKLES!! This is the first ice cream shop I've ever been to that didn't have sprinkles. Only a handful of options for toppings. Disappointed overall.

The ice cream was pretty legit. Not super fancy, but solid as far as flavor goes. Had the chocolate, and it was excellent. No better or worse than any worth while ice cream parlor i've been to.

Great ice cream, and flavors. But there is one specific server that was so rude and so stuck up. Other wise, great place to go after a meal.

A trip to Lewes isn't complete without a trip to King's ice cream shop. The little shop sits on the little main strip of cute historic dowtown Lewes. Maybe it's because I've only been here during federal holidays, but the line is -always- out the door. The shop interior itself is nothing special. There are a few tables and chairs, but it's preferable to sit outside on their bench and people watch while licking the delicious creamy goodness off a sugar cone. The real highlight, as it should be, is the ice cream. Sure they offer water ice and some other stuff, but who cares? It is an ice cream shop. Go for the ice cream. They have some traditional flavors and some unconventional ones. The pineapple yogurt is not soft-serve, but is tasty. The mint chip is not of your grocery store variety... it's got peppermint patty-like bits in the ice cream. The butter brickle is butterscotch and has bits of the candy in it. And the coconut, which was a special featured flavor when I went, was AWESOME. Tasted like fresh coconut, with little chunks of coconut meat... NOT like suntan lotion! Coconut ice cream is my mostest favoritest bestest ice cream EVER. Best of all, they actually make their own ice cream for their own mini-chain of shops on the Eastern Shore. Love it.

A stop at King's is mandatory in Lewes. If I hear about anyone not doing so, I shall be very cross. Very cross indeed, d'you hear me? We visited twice during this trip and would happily go again right now! Their homemade ice cream is phenomenal, and the water ices are also fantastic. There is always a line, in our experience, but it moves rapidly and the servers remain friendly and patient, no matter how many times a three year old changes his mind. (Not that we would have any experience with that. No no nooo.) The bigger challenge is often finding a place to park the car nearby! There's a Dairy Queen not that far away, and the only reason to visit that is because it's right next to the Lewes bay beach. Otherwise, save your ice cream calories for King's, and revel in its deliciousness.

Lewes is a cute little town (at least from what I saw the one night I was there), and a cute little town wouldn't be complete without a local ice cream parlor. It's a clean store, and the staff are friendly and fast. They don't mind giving you samples nor do they mind letting you take your time to decide on what flavor you want. The pistachio ice cream is really good, filled with lots of pieces of pistachio. It's incredibly creamy too, and you get a very big serving for a pretty low price. I wish we had more places like this in DC that are well-run and friendly. I would definitely come here often if I vacationed in Lewes.

i can't really add anything more than what has already been said about this place in the previous reviews other than this place gets packed every night and the teenagers who work at this place know how to handle a large crowd. they are all fast and polite. i think they should show the rest of the dining establishments how to run a food service business. and the ice cream is damn good....... and i don't even like ice cream.

I'm a local, but I've eaten ice cream all over the world! :) Kings is some of the best I've ever had -- don't hesitate! Wherever you have dinner in Lewes, skip dessert and head to Kings. Special recommendation for a flavor called "dutch chocolate." I fear I'm addicted.

If you find yourself in Lewes, and don't stop at King's you are missing something special. I have been coming here for more than thirty years. My parents brought me here as a child, and now I enjoy bringing my children here for some of the best ice cream to be found.
