Okay listen up first off if you didn't know that you walked into something special after seeing the lemon grass growing out front turn around and get back on the highway you don't deserve the meal that's coming your way. Getting here was a little tricky because it really doesn't stand out at the location is currently at. But after you walked in you know you're in very lovingly put together place. I can't tell you the last time I was waiting on by the head chef at any establishment but today I was, and I swear to you if she could have been anybody's grandmother no matter what background you're from. Sweetest woman I've ever met. I couldn't make up my mind in regards to the menu so she brought back a gigantic mug of Thai sweet tea. It was a little sweeter than I'm used to but then again I assume this is the way it was supposed to be had not saturated with condensed milk. I ordered some chicken and seafood dumplings, chicken soup and a spicy basil duck. The soup made its way out of the kitchen about 5 minutes after the order followed by the dumplings. I wish I could have taken pictures but I really could care less after I taste the soup, it was all hands on deck and I got to it. I was chatted up pleasantly by the chefs husband , and another lady who are assumed to be the sister in law who was the waitress. The dumplings by the way we're like nothing I've had before at a restaurant of this nature, the herbs are very fresh and after a few questions I was told everything was picked daily from the front or back yard which made total sense. Now on to the main course which was the spicy duck with basil. This dish should come with a disclaimer for the finicky eater. What you are getting is every portion of the duck; a few pieces of neck, the back of the head with brain intact, a drumstick and other bits and pieces of fleshy mear with the skin attached. This and you're sort of party just get the roast duck and call it a day. I how ever did not regret my choice especially after finding out this was her husbands favorite dish, as promised there was the spice but it wasn't overwhelming. I could have done with a little more rice but it all worked out. The total cost of the meal was under $25 and if I was around these parts more this would be a weekly occurrence. The interior itself is very comfortable and I would expect this to look like a little shop back in Thailand. All in all a very very good experience. Probably one of the best out of the way spots in this area, the locals do not know what they're missing.

Really great authentic Thai food nicest people freshest ingredients nice and spicy unless you ask for it to be mild. We really enjoy going there for lunch or dinner. The food is delicious we really like the basil chicken and the spring whirls are excellent. It's unusual to find such a good product in a little town like Dover.

Quaint little place food was amazing, friendly service, family owned and don't let the outside scare you! The owner grows her own herbs around the building. Highly recommended and very reasonably priced.

Really authentic Thai food. It's not really adopt american style much, so you never go to Thailand and only know pad thai & broken noodle as thai food, you can't really taste the best out of this restaurant.I'm very suppressed by the asian food quality in Dover.

Let me preface by saying I'm a Pad Thai snob. I joined Yelp just to find a good Thai place in the area I moved to. I came from central NJ where there was a melting pot of food and a Thai restaurant in Highland Park that has food so good it'll make you think you died and gone to Thailand. But Thai Style is pretty freaking awesome too. Loved the cute decor, super easy to miss driving by. I've tried Pad Thai nearly everywhere I've seen it on a menu locally and this is by far the closest I've come to what I'm looking for. The veggies are fresh, shrimp are big. Ask to have it made "Thai spicy" not American spicy or plan. Be prepared for some heat but makes the dish that much better

Hmmmm, take your favorite thai food, place it in the fridge for a week or two, pull it out, reheat and serve it up.......that was the experience I had at this place two days ago. I'm still trying to understand the ratings this place is getting. Maybe not enough experience with Thai food? I'll take it by the numbers for you, to try to explain the experience. Service and friendliness: Initial reaction of the staff was all smiles and great. When we asked for a menu to see what they had, the attitude went south fast. Enough that we picked up on it and almost walked out right there. Food and drink: I ordered the Thai Ice Tea, and I'm not sure where their recipe came from. There was a foul kind of flavor to it. I couldn't finish it. The appetizers also had an odd flavor to them, including the spring rolls, which were pretty mushy inside. ... not the normal texture for spring rolls. She recommended the basil duck, and said it was spicy. That got me right there, as I love spicy food. I can tell you that the duck was cooked for way too long and/or it was old. It too had a foul smell and flavor to it. We could not finish any of the food here. This is just not the place to get Thai food, it could warp your perception of Thai food.

We stopped in because this place had good reviews. We were not too happy with the actual place. The 2 ladies running the place were so friendly and nice and helpful.however, my chicken was not a great texture. My coworker had the pad thai and she didnt like the texture of the noodles. I particularly would just like more effort put into cleaning the place. it doesnt look like the place gets really busy. The bathroom should definitely be cleaner for such a small place. We also asked for hot sauce and the containers looked like they had been sitting around for a while which also should have been cleaner.

The staff was very nice, friendly and attentive. I ordered something off of the noodle section of the menu with chicken and broccoli. It was ok and the noodles weren't what I expected. They kind of had a rubbery texture. We asked for hot sauce and it came in a dirty dish (with a spoon) that looked like it was probably given to other tables before us. The container had old crusted sauced all over it.

I love Thai food and I am from an area where I thought we had the best authentic Thai around. I was wrong. Thai Style might not be fancy, but it is by far the best authentic Thai food I have ever tasted. This is a locally owned and operated (the owner is also the chef) business. It is small and not up to par (atmosphere wise) with the place down the street, but none of that matters when you compare the great customer service and food. She will customize anything and it is made to order every time. She can also cater for offices and private parties. I will say this is Dover's best kept secret as I have lived here for quite a while and I still meet people who have never heard of the place. At lunch it is usually filled with airmen as they are most likely her best customers and I imagine are prepared to offer an unbiased opinion seeing as how many have tasted the real thing. Please don't be fooled by the outward appearance or location this place is a must visit.

The service there is really friendly and you feel like your eating at a real thai family's home. The thai tea tastes a little different than what I'm used to but they are huge.

This place was delightful! I wished we lived close so we could visit often. My friend and I are both vegetarians and we had a ton of options. We ordered the spring rolls (WONDERFUL), vegetable dumplings, and the tofu pad king. When we placed our orders we were asked if we had thai food before. She wanted to make sure that we knew what we were ordering and would enjoy it. Very friendly! Can't wait to go back and try the other dishes.

Just ate here was very skeptical, being from NYC area we have access to great Thai food. Then baboom! This place is a hidden treasure. Had the drunken noodles extra spicy, fantastic! The chef / owner will take your order then cook it. She was super nice and friendly. Highly recommended!

Food was terrible and service was deplorable. Only two in our group got what they ordered. Should have left when we waked in the door - place was empty on a Saturday evening. Did I mention it is way over priced for the amount of food you get? Bathroom was disgusting. Sad we wasted our time and money.

Very good experience. I feel like we were visiting a Thai home. Very cozy and friendly. Only drawback is the hours of operation ...they don't have them! It's touch and go...I just called and on a Saturday night they were closing at 7:30! Valentines Day?!

My husband and I just ate here for the first time, and it was an excellent experience, from the atmosphere (friendly, relaxed, and colorful), to the staff (welcoming and cheerful), to the food (some of the best ever). The food is all homemade and msg free and best of all, tastey. This little restaurant rocks!

Great ka prow pork w/fresh local veggies and no msg. The owner told us she prefers to use fresh local vegetables when they are available rather than opening a can of bamboo. I wasn't going to order pad thai but owner told us to try hers and it was great. She grows her spices and makes everything from scratch after you order. It was so fresh and tasted wonderful. This is not a glitzy place, but it is well kept and clearly cared for by the owner. Next time I would ask for her recommendations and try something new. Exterior is nothing special but the food makes it worth going in.

One of the best thai foods ever I have tasted and I am from California where there is abundance of Asian food . Don't pass this treat by . I tried the red curry chicken which was out of this world . Would have never guessed a small place like this had such great Thai food . 5 stars --- no less . You have to give this place a try to believe it . I am still thinking about the awesome food I had there . Really enjoyed it ... was fresh, hot and authentic ... Try this place .. it's easy to miss so keep a lookout for sign reading Thai Style Restaurant .

"If your Thai mom was an awesome cook and somehow gotten a hold of a few grand to open herself that little restaurant everybody told her she should open, this would be it..." I'm sort of reluctant to write this as I'd hate to not be able to get a table here in the future, but this place was just too good to not write about and the fact that it wasn't slammed with customers while we were there worries me about the legendary "Delawarian Knowledge and Concept of Authentic Thai Cuisine". Nevertheless, I was assured by my wife that there is probably no such thing in existence and that my worry of not finding a table here in the future is frivolous and unwarranted for that reason alone. So with that disclosure, here's my experience: So we've been living in Delaware for a few months before we had time to finally start looking for a Thai place to call our favorite. Today was the day and it seemed the only one worth really checking out for us was "Thai Style Restaurant" located about 45 minutes away in Dover. I was skeptical about the name of the place, but experience has often showed me to never judge a book by its cover in a circumstance such as this. My first impression of the small house-on-the-side-of-the-road-turned-restaurant was that there was only 2 parking spots and one was already taken. This turned out to be false, as there seemed to be be a few more spaces in the rear next to a storage type garage space with an apartment above it as if the Fonz lived behind the restaurant. We walk in the front door to see a cozily decorated, seven or so tabled, full on comfort zone. It was as if the owner finally found a place to display all of her awesome Thai statuettes, pictures, decorations and goldfish pond. The place was devoid of a lunch crowd today (Friday) except for what seemed to be a hardy bus driver chomping away at something appreciatively spicy at one of the small booths by the "pond". (Please excuse the air of sarcasm or indifference with my observations. It's just the way I write. I love this place) We are seated right by the men's room door (The place is so small that someone is going to have to sit there.) and are given each a menu. There's a good selection of appetizers, lunch specials, entrees and organized noodle dishes to read about and it's all Thai. I didn't see anything on the menu that could give us the notion that any other Asian fare could be found here. Just Thai. Good. Cause that's what we came for. (By the way, expect an earful if you plan on asking for soy sauce. Not that WE did, but the owner/chef/hostess/waitress and I had an enlightening conversation on the subject.) We were happy to find that this place was vegetarian-friendly and that the Owner/Chef/Hostess/Waitress (OCHW from now on) was herself pescetarian. Anything on the menu, we learned, can be prepared to order with the diner's needs in mind. For drinks, my wife ordered an ice water and I ordered an unsweetened ice tea. The water came in a regular old glass as expected, but to my delight I received my tea in a huge 24 oz glass mug. The tea was delicious, fresh and traditionally brewed. We then ordered the vegetarian dumplings to start and were warned that they might be "strong smelling". I starting thinking durian but after my wife's questioning, the OCHW was talking about the chives as onions. Bring it on. The dumplings came in no time and the verdict was "Awesome". All site-grown chives and seasonings stuffed in a two good sized rice flour dumplings with a delicious dipping sauce (soy sauce based?). We enjoyed these very much and savored every bite. A very good start. We decided to try the "see ew" and another basil, pepper and mushroom entree to share, both with tofu. Both dishes were fantastic. Big plates, each one enough for us to share (really big eaters might disagree). We learned that the OCHW grows her own basil, chives, greens etc... on site and the tofu, although it tasted as if it was made there, was not but still artisanal. We enjoyed every bite. The OCHW was very friendly and made for entertaining conversation without being too intrusive. We finally decided we would try the traditional mango sticky rice for desert and we were not disappointed. The mango was fresh and perfect. The sticky rice was just right, garnished with peanuts and coconut milk. On a whole we were pleasantly surprised with our experience after starting this venture with such low expectations. We will definitely return enough to explore the entire menu, become regulars and eventually donate some kitschy Thai statue or picture to add to that great little collection they have there.

Tiny little place that is easily overlooked. Very small and quaint inside and I did notice the strange smell of mothballs as somebody said in another review. I tried the Thai iced tea and it was delicious. It is not just brewed tea as someone had thought in another review. There is milk and also papaya which gives it an awkward color and presence of tiny black flakes. My friend and I ordered the drunken noodles. His was a little hotter than I liked as once could tell just by looking at our plates. Portion size could have been a little larger but most would probably find it to be enough food since I have a larger appetite than most. Our food was very well prepared. I could distinguish every ingredient on my plate since everything was fresh and cooked perfectly. Service was very hospitable. Don't be turned away by location, size, and interior decorations. People come here to EAT after all. It's well worth the trip.

I took a friend here based on the reviews. Although I wasn't expecting much for atmosphere, I did expect good if not great Thai food. Let me give you a foreshadow of this review...our after dinner mints were Christmas candy canes you get at the Dollar store, and it was August. The iced tea yes was huge, but tasted really weird, and I love fresh brewed tea! We ordered steamed dumplings and they came out hard, like they had been precooked and left uncovered, then warmed up. My meal which was chicken and noodles was awful! The noodles were slimy and the chicken was hard and over-cooked. We were the only ones in the restaurant at 5:30pm, should have taken that as a sign and left.

My wife and I were driving down to the beach this past weekend and we were checking yelp for reviews. We were surprised to find a Thai place in a fairly rural area and that it was in the top 10 for the highest reviews. We love Thai food and this place was only about 5 miles out of our way so we stopped in. We pulled up and immediately became concerned because the restaurant is inside a very tiny house. There are only 2-3 spots in front but there was parking behind the house. We walked in and found the decor to be very kitchy and I suppose authentic (if not over the top). We were greeted by all 3 staff members immediately. We tried a number of new dishes while we were here. The food is very reasonable and very good. It seems more authentic than the Thai we've had in Baltimore city. Overall we would recommend this place to anyone looking for a casual, interesting, and quick possibly authentic Thai experience in Dover.

We had takeout last night, but I've also dined in the restaurant on multiple occasions The food is delicious, although I'm no Thai food expert, so I can't say how authentic it is. It's the cutest little tiny restaurant, looks like a little tiny house except the "open" sign out front. Don't be alarmed by the apparent parking situation - it looks, from the highway, like there's only room for about two vehicles. If you drive around back, there's more room, though, although I still wouldn't recommend bringing your ginormous SUV to meet up with a bunch of friends in their ginormous SUVs. The owner is super friendly every time we go in, and the decor is very colorful and interesting. The only drawback is that you might have to listen to Thai soap operas if you go in at the wrong time, but then again, they'd probably turn it off if you asked. ;)

Fantastic, authentic Thai food, rivaling that of well known restaurants in Washington, DC and Philadelphia. Best Thai tea, Satay, spring rolls and my favorite - Chicken Panang. Yum, Yum. Atmosphere is basic and parking sparse. Can't go wrong here. Highly recommended! PS: Be sure to say hi to Nit, best Thai chef anywhere!

You're greeted by an overwhelming smell of mothballs. The food portions were not huge but the Thai iced tea was huge. Got a vegetarian dish that was very sodium heavy. Would not revisit.

This is the go-to Thai restaurant in Delaware. It's informal to the point of feeling like you're at your grandmother's house for dinner. The dining area is vibrant and inviting, and the staff are friendly. The cook/grandma will steer you away from menu items she doesn't think you'll like, and you're smart to heed her warnings about the degree of heat in a dish. I love the Pad Thai and my husband had enjoyed a variety of vegetarian options. Go out to this restaurant to get a great, home cooked meal.

Dropped in to this adorable place while visiting relatives in Dover. What a treat! Best Pad Thai I have ever had (and I live in a major-league foodie zone). Also, the coconut custard was spectacular. The other dish we got (something like Pad See Ew) was decent, but I will dream of that Pad Thai forever. Also, the service was lovely. It feels like you're in someone's house - in fact, I think you are. It's easy to miss this place on the highway because it's so tiny. Just slow down and definitely check it out.

Friendly Thai people and the usual order of Pad Thai is what I am familiar with. The Pad Thai I ordered was quite different but good. There is another Thai restaurant in the area but it's few miles North of Dupont Hwy;for Thai food, this is probably the place to go if you car pool. This restaurant and the parking is small. Don't rush because you'll be disappointed to find out that you can't find parking just to eat in.

Great Thai! I've been to the one across from target twice but it doesn't come close to this one!!! Food is amazing!! Price is great

Why does it smell of mothballs? Once the food came, we didn't notice it anymore, but that smell hit when we walked into this cute little place on the highway. Rich, savory sauce on the very bony duck with basil was terrific. Pad Thai ordinary. Service very friendly and efficient.

I have eaten here many times. Sometimes dine-in and others take-out. I have no clue what to order every time we go but it always works out with good food. I do have to admit if you ask for the food spicy watch out!!! Having grown up with my Mexican mother and eating every thing "very spicy hot" I thought I was prepared.

We've been going to the Thai restaurant across from Target for years and thought it was pretty good for Delaware. But now that we have found Thai Style we will never go back. The food is so authentic and fresh; there are many subtle layers of flavor that continue to appear as you are eating. The chef/owner grows her own herbs and vegetables. The pad prik khing (meat with chili sauce and green beans) is the absolute best I have ever had -- and I have eaten Thai in England, Canada, Australia, and 10 states in the US. The pad Thai was phenomenal. My companion's mussaman beef curry was lighter than most and very flavorful. We will be back many, many times. (And the prices are the lowest in Delaware.)

I can't believe how friendly and warm the owner and staff are! We went late on a Saturday night and were welcomed with open arms. The owner asked us about our kids and where we're from and if we'd ever had Thai food before. She helped us select appropriate dishes for each of our tastes. When the food arrived we were pleased with the heaping portions. The food was absolutely fantastic! I asked specifically for mine to have a little fire but not burn my tongue off. She delivered exactly as I requested. Our kids dishes were perfect as well with just a touch of sweetness to please their palates. We will definatel be back again and again!

Since I have moved to Delaware I have been fussing about no good Thai food. This fussing has now ended. This is a very authentic, brightly decorated (complete with Thai decor, music, and television) Thai place with VERY good food and drinks. The pork Pad Se Eew was delicious. My husband had beef. He said it was good. I want to go back and try other things. The waitresses were friendly. The drinks were interesting, with some that I hadn't heard of- I had a lovely coconut non-alcoholic drink. If you like Thai food and you are in Southern DE. Come here. It's excellent.

  • Jeffrey V.

The water is chlorinated. The fried fish was undercooked and soft, probably fried frozen. The Tom Yung Gong soup was not great, maybe due to water. The dumplings were undercooked and fell apart. I have no idea how the other 2 reviewers can like this food. I'm Asian and have had Thai food in NYC, Vancouver BC, Boston, and Bangkok. I would not try to compare this restaurant to any other. If you order, ask to have everything cooked well-done. And order bottled soda, not tap.
