"The sea lives in every one of us." ~ Wyland When I get the opportunity to visit a dwelling like Addy Sea, I immediately think about the days gone by, and wonder about the exertions or life affairs one would hope to escape by visiting here back then. Today, Addy is one of those places I wish could be open to the public and free for everyone to enjoy. It is the oldest and most beautiful building at Bethany Beach, and the location is perfect for quietness or gallivanting the local town. Guests can lounge on the cozy spacious wraparound porch, equipped with several comfy rocking chairs, or step off directly onto the beach. The atmosphere is quirky-fun but relaxing, and the staff is friendly and helpful while respecting your privacy. Complimentary breakfast consists of fresh fruits, delicate pastries, pancakes and more. Room seven has amazing ocean views where the moonlight shines directly through the widow's watch window. For the budget-conscientious, check their website for details on the attic room which is a nice size and has a private bathroom for a much lower rate. By the time we left, I found myself daydreaming about living here; sipping tea and playing music on an antique upright piano with the cool breeze flowing through the parlor.
My fiance and I stayed at the Addy Sea this past weekend for three nights, in room 9. The room was spacious with lots of storage. The bathroom was a good size and had a skylight which was nice. There are four windows in the bedroom with one of them having a perfect view of the ocean. The breakfast was delicious. The staff was friendly. The entire place was very clean. Only recommendation is to have more places to hang your wet beach stuff in the room or bathroom. There was only one hook outside of the shower and one towel rack. The furniture is too nice to drape wet sandy stuff over it so we struggled with where to put things. The water temperature is VERY hot, so be sure to test it before you hop in. Otherwise we loved it! Would definitely return.
Great little place. I often get called here for weddings either as a photographer or with our salon for updos and all the guests say they love thier stay here. As the place looks old its well kept. The owner Maggie is a delight to talk with and always with a smile. I see her constantly going out of her way to make guests feel comfortable and happy, I even seen her out sweeping the steps. Rather then ask anyone to do such a low level task she takes it upon herself to do it. A sign of a great owner ;) free wifi is nice and love the smell if the food here.

Had breakfast here; between four of us we had three breakfast crepes and two dessert crepes. All were great and reasonably priced. It's also entertaining to watch them makes the crepes to order. One slight downside: they only offer one smallish size cup for coffee. I don't know if refills are available because the coffee pots were gone when my cup was empty (and I didn't ask about it).
My absolute favorite breakfast spot at the beach. I'm never been crazy about traditional breakfast foods, but Sunshine Crepes' extensive menu makes it so easy to find something delicious every time I go. The fruit crepes are amazing! My latest obsession has been the banana with cinnamon sauce, but I'm also a huge fan of the mixed berry. The service is always outstanding...the couple who run the restaurant are so friendly and accommodating! If you're not eating at Sunshine Crepes, you're definitely missing out!
Original Review Sept 2013 Our group found this secluded cafe accidentally. An oasis dessert cafe in a desert of typical fast food restaurants and ice cream shops. Pleasant, non-crowded surroundings. Crepes are thin and good. Toppings look great, but taste average. Service is average with a non-motivated staff. Only 2 cooks when our huge group of 16 arrived, so the individual care that a good crepe requires meant slower service. Our group was delighted nevertheless with getting an above average dessert. If they got better recipes, it would be out-of-this world. Highly recommended. Updated Review Aug 2015 Major update and Revision: The crepes, both dessert and entrees, were delicious ! I changed my 4 star rating in Sept 2013 to 5 stars for 2015.

We've been coming here since it opened years ago. We've never had a bad meal and the soups are wonderful. Excellent, knowledgeable staff, and a large bar. rDon't miss out. MAKE A RESERVATION NOW.
A very pleasant surprise that was flying totally under the Yelp radar. Once we decided to walk out for dinner, rather than drive, from our town center motel room ... we figured we wouldn't do much better food-wise than Five Guys, we'd just spend more somewhere else to indulge in some date-night atmosphere. I yelped "hear here" from my iPhone and this place didn't even show up. But wifey spotted it and peered in the window while walking by the touron shops ... and thought she saw a nice looking meal on the table. So we gave it a try. And we're glad we did. My crab cakes were a slightly different interpretation - top notch lump meat in a dome (not disc) shape, held together with a bit of breading (corn meal?), on a chili remoulade base. Very good. Wifey got the halibut, and raved (and had plenty to send my way for samples). We were both impressed with the sides: real (not instant) mashed potatoes and tender-crisp asparagus. The starters - a two part red and yellow pepper soup with crab, and a house salad with greens, 'stachios, sunchoke crisps and a vinaigrette - were also good. The wine list was mostly high distro/grocery store selections, but the full page of selections was nicely balanced, well chosen, and well priced. The best part is you can order a bottle, and not have to glug-a-lug on the spot, you can take what's left home to enjoy on your balcony, watching the ocean. Bottom line: Wifey was impressed. I was very happy, if not quite blown away. We'll give it 3.5 stars, and then round up for beating expectations and for courteous service.
I've been vacationing in Bethany for 30 years and tonight's dinner at The Parkway Restaurant is possibly the best I've ever had here. We started out with the chili lime crab salad. 5/5. Lick the plate scrumptious. Enormous lumps of fresh backfin crabmeat together with avocado, tomato, cilantro, olive oil, honey and red onion were absolutely succulent with the chili and lime. Drinks. 4/5. I had 2 well-made, if slightly bitter mojitos and my husband had a Parkway Punch, which he sucked down in a few minutes flat. I don't like rum so I didn't try his. Entrees. I had the Pretzel Encrusted Ocean Scallops. 5/5. The scallops were PERFECTLY prepared, and I cannot remember the last time I could say that. The pretzel crust on the scallop was delicious, as was the Italian parsley tartar and bed of red and golden quinoa tabouhleh. My husband had the filet, which he ordered medium (smh); despite this it was juicy and tender. 5/5. Luckily for me he doesn't like green beans, so I was the lucky beneficiary of all his. They tasted like they may well have been on a farm this very morning. Dessert was a flourless chocolate cake with macadamia nuts. 4/5. If I were home I might have given it a full 5 stars, because it was really, really good, nice and warm as it was with a scoop of vanilla Haagen Daas ice cream next to it, but Candy Kitchen is across the street and I kept thinking of dark chocolate sea salt caramels instead. Service was 6/5. SUPER attentive waitress, despite a rather busy restaurant. She even let us turn the channel on the TV when we asked to watch the MLB all-star game. Our water never got a quarter of the way empty. Every need was anticipated before we felt it. Outstanding. We will return, we will tell all our friends about our amazing meal, and we will encourage them to tell their friends. If you're looking for a good meal in Bethany, you MUST try Parkway!!

Some of the best chinese good we've had. The chicken was so fresh and was visibly large chunks of white meat- not like any other chinese food I've ever eaten. The gentleman working and taking orders was extremely friendly and really took care of us when we were enjoying the food. Will definitely be back the next time I'm in the Bethany beach area. So Delish!
China Express Solid lunch specials. If you eat takeout Chinese, you are familiar with the lunch special. I happen to like Fried Tofu with Snow Peas - China Spicy. It is not on a lunch special or any menu anywhere, matter of fact it is not very special, it's pretty basic. However, it is what I like & lots of times when I order it, it sucks, Thus, I only get it at the place close to home. The owner takes your order @ China Express. He is super cool and runs a sharp shop. The food was prepared perfectly. I will be back. It's nice know of another tasty Chinese Takeout.
Oh how I yearn for my yearly visits back to the place I grew up at. China Express is definitely a day one stop for me. I eat here just about every day when I am visiting home. Best chinese food on the planet. I have tried places from Los Angeles to Bethany Beach and nobody does it better than Zhe and the family. I dare you, no.. I DOUBLE DARE YOU, to tell me about a better chinese spot.

Exceptional quality food and drinks. A great place in a great location on the boardwalk. I had a turkey and swiss panini and a cafe mocha and I highly recommend both. Years ago I used to go to The Galley in the building next door and it's so great to have a favorite spot here now.
Jumbo lump crab cake was the best I've had I awhile! So happy to have a nice place to eat right on the boardwalk with excellent food.
This little shop offers delicious healthy sandwiches, smoothies, quiche, and pastries. It has seating inside and out. It faces the beach but due to high sand dunes you can't see much. Very healthy cheap place for those watching their wastelines.

I found a flavor that's even better...White Chocolate Macadamia Nut. OMG where has this been my whole life? Friendly young girls behind the counter and a manager who keeps the line moving. Which in summer months can wrap around the store and outside. Always a stop for me in Bethany!
Great customer service!!! I had never been to a TCBY before. Saturday night we decided to seek out dessert at 9:00. Well when it's not in season there is not a lot of options. When we walked up to TCBY they were getting ready to close, but the manager told us to come in. Well the four of us went in and as we ordered four more people came in and then at least 5 more people came in. As you may have guessed TCBY was the only place left open. The manager and employee served everyone graciously. We took our items back to the car so they could close, but most others stayed and sat at tables. The staff never complained or made anyone leave. By the way I really enjoyed the yogurt!!! Will definitely support the business.
I hadn't stepped into a TCBY since my childhood....they somehow all disappeared after a while. So I was excited to try "The Country's Best Yogurt" again when I saw one in Bethany Beach. YUMMMM. Light and creamy and cold deliciousness. They were heavily advertising the blueberries so I got vanilla froyo with blueberries and chocolate sprinkles. Loved it. The berry fruit smoothie I tried was also really good...better than those Haagan Daaz and cheaper too.

The perfect place to go for a date night dining experience at the beach. We had Nick as our server and he was the picture of professionalism. The decor was a bit dated, but did not detract at all from the experience (Table cloths would go a long way). We started our meal with a cheese and charcuterie board which was exquisite. There were four cheeses and a smattering of cured meats and fruits and nuts. Nick brought us bread to enjoy with this course, and it was excellent, most likely baked in-house. Since my fiancé and I were in it for a long multi course meal, we ordered a bottle of wine. The selection was great and hit all of the popular variatels and price points. When confronted with the menu of tapas we could not choose, so we told nick "we want 6 tapas, you choose your favorites and bring them out two at a time." He did such a fantastic job presenting the waves of courses, I can't wait to go back and do it all again. We ended up ordering a second bottle, but only made it half way through so he re-corked it and bagged it up for us. In summation, we could not have had a more pleasant evening. Request Nick if you have a chance, you won't be disappointed. I suggest having him choose your tapas (if you choose tapas over plated entrees). Even though I think that table cloths would fit this restaurant well (even a piece of butcher paper on top to preserve the linen), there is nothing I would change about our visit. Actually after proof reading this I can't exclude the hostess from this review. When we entered the restaurant the hostess was not very happy or friendly. When we explained that we had not made a reservation she seemed to sigh and stare at the seating chart in front of her for what was clearly and exaggeratedly long amount of time before she took us to our table. Management should probably encourage a welcoming and cheerful host as they are the first and last person the diner sees. That being said, we forgot all about it during the excellent service, we will be going back every time we come to the beach.
This was a fabulous restaurant when it first opened many years ago. We were neighbors of the original owner and he was a great host back then. Those days we would go once a week. The current owners run a good place and the food is nice albeit pricey. Now we only go once a year since there are lots of competing places to go here and in nearby towns for similar fare. -enjoy
Went back a few weeks ago for my 50th B-Day dinner with my family. We asked for our favourite server, Tina and she made the dinner SO special! If they are offering the Surf & Turf - filet with crab cake - it's delish! We are never disappointed here and we love, love, love, the cheese plate! Fantastic service, great food, lovely atmosphere...what more do you need?

Love Maureen's coffee!! Every time Mike and I go to the beach we stop to get our morning coffee before our walk on the beach :-) Maureen and her staff are so friendly and we feel like a part of the community every time we visit!! Best place in Bethany for your espresso fix!
People are very friendly and helpful. Ice cream (Blueberry Pomegranate Chunk), Coffee drinks (caramel blended coffee), and desserts (tiramisu) were all yummy. Can't wait to go back tonight!
Big scoops of ice cream are par for the course here. The single size scoop is bigger than my fist (which isn't gigantic but still). The pistachio ice cream was tasty from the sample I tried, and the Toll House cookie ice cream was also pretty damned good. The prices are pretty good for what you get (it ran $9.25 for three folks). They have a nice selection of flavors.

Five Guys Burgers and Fries

Reviews:
I came here on a Saturday afternoon and it was quite slow with only 2 people behind the counter. More employees showed up for work later. My food was slow but it was ok because I had the usual all you can eat peanuts while waiting. The taste of the food is consistent with five guys elsewhere. Compared to other burger and fry joints in the area, Five Guys has much more selected variety of drinks, sit down area with electrical outlets. So even though I initially didn't want to pick Five Guys, after factoring in the cost and all the factors above, I couldn't resist choosing it. Its definitely worth picking Five Guys if you want a place to sit down with AC and enjoy all the above.
The service was great and the self serve soda fountains had great flavored but the but they lost a star for the dirtiness of the restaurant. The burger was delicious. The fries were great. I got a regular burger with ketchup. The one thing I would recommend was to get takeout so that you are not annoyed by the flys or dirty chairs and tables.
Burgers and fries were excellent. The burgers were nice and juicy. The fries were cooked to perfection and they use potatoes from Idaho. The reason for 4 stars is because they are ALOT slower than all the other five guys locations.
