After 30 years in Philly, I am pretty fussy. As for a great sandwich, you either go to South Philly, Reading Terminal Market, or Chaps Pit Beef in Baltimore for an awesome sandwich, but,,,,,,,,WHY is Capelli's such a secret here in Delaware ? In my opinion,,,,, THE BEST SANDWICH SHOP IN DELAWARE !! They serve food that is as good, or close to as good, as anything you will get in Urban America, anywhere. Lost, tucked away in a shopping plaza, maybe ? Friendly, fast, and I mean GOOD ! I hear all the constant praise for the 432 places around Newark and how they all just "ring the bell", but the bell rests proudly at Capelli's. I could wish for a larger seating area, but that can't be helped. There are tables, just not alot. I have never had to wait for a table, but I imagine during lunch it could get crazy. To all of you car dealers who have lunch delivered on Saturday's. They do it in the right way, the right time, and the right price ( different tray packages ). Now,,,,,eat there, darn it !! LOL

The first time we tried a Capelli's sub was just good luck. One of the workers dropped off a buffalo chicken sub for a coworker who wasn't on the schedule. This was several years back when that sub wasn't as common. She gave it to me instead; it was delicious. We have been back many times since. They offer really big cheesesteaks, chicken cheesesteaks and the aforementioned buffalo chicken cheesesteak. Good quality, loaded and fresh toppings! In season, try the water ice. You get pieces of fruit in the lemon flavor, just like Little Italy. It's much better than Rita's, but -- sadly -- they don't offer any sugar-free varieties.

Ordered the baby tuna sub and a bowl of cream of crab to go. After reading the reviews I was stoked to try them out. Regretfully, once in my car I discovered the cream of crab luke warm and the baby tuna looked pitiful. I was so hoping to have found yummy lunch time gem. :-(

This place can be a gem in the Newark/bear area. But until they control the one individual behind the counter that, talks about customers as "those dumb idiots" and doesn't know how to handle pressure, out from behind there it's never going to be anything more than it is. If their ok with that then don't change a thing and let's see how long it takes to be out of business. I've stopped going there for about a year because of her and I went back recently, just to see and hear this employee rant and rave again. I complained this time and I'm not sure if I'll be back. They have good food but THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER SEEN AND HEARD. The mom is one of the nicest people I've talked to but the daughter is going to ruin this business Please keep in mind it's only the one daughter, the rest have been very nice. Hopefully this will change for the better, not sure it's going to happen anytime soon. I gave them two stars due to the customer service, not for the food.

I am extremely disappointed in the experience I had with this place. While I can be a little ocd when it comes to germs/sanitary conditions, this is 1 instance that my gut tells me I have every right to be. You see, as I was in the middle of placing my order for 2 sm subs, the other lady not taking orders who seems to either be the manager and/or owner of the place was speaking to what appeared to be her husband behind the counter and loudly said "I feel like I'm going to throw up." Now to say this loud enough for your customers to hear it was totally unprofessional and downright gross! However, what really got me more grossed out and irritated next is that she then proceeded to make my subs without A)washing her hands B) if she honestly felt like she's going to throw up, why didn't she at least wear gloves to make sandwiches or wash her hands before each order? It just shows me that she's all about the money and it's not about customer service skills, sanitary conditions (as you should be when preparing food for others to eat), etc. c) not only did the lady who felt she was "going to throw up" really ruin my experience, waste my money (bc I feel as though I can't eat the subs that were bought for my trip today), etc but then the other employee who took my order was back and fourth between helping the other girl make sandwiches, but she was also working the cash register accepting money and/or cards and not washing her hands or wearing gloves between the two. I've always been told that a person should wash their hands after working on the register and before touching people's food again. Needless to say, that was the worst waste of my money, I spent $13.50 for two subs that I couldn't even taste and instead felt as though we had to throw them away instead. EXTREMELY disappointed and mad. I just couldn't afford to catch some type of bug when I'm about to board a train for the next 24 hours.

Holy yum! That was one good sandwich. The hubby and I were home all day and were hungry. We got a Capelli's flier in the mail and thought we'd give it a shot. They had a special for 2 large sandwiches (20") for $19.95. Not bad. Figured the sandwich would last me 3 meals. We called Capelli's and a young lady picked up. We asked for delivery (because we're lazy). Their flier says "we deliver". Well guess they were busy, so the lady said they weren't delivering that day. And then hung up! What if we wanted to pick up? They only deliver in a 3 mile radius, so obviously we live close enough to go pick up the food! I was a little shocked that she hung up so quickly (hence not giving them 5 stars) so I started looking for other places to order. But, in the end, you couldn't beat their $20 deal and the sandwiches did look pretty good. We called again and ordered the BBQ Chicken and the Chicken Parm for pick-up. It was ready in 10 minutes. The husband's on a diet, so he destroyed the Chicken Parm by getting it without the parm. Weirdo. So that sandwich was okay. The cutlet was pretty good and so was the sauce, but I can't comment on their true Chicken Parm sandwich. The BBQ Chicken though...AMAZING! So juicy with all that BBQ sauce! I took one bite and I was hooked. The entire sandwich melts in your mouth. I asked them to add fried onions and hot peppers and the hot peppers were a great addition. Added just enough kick to make you keep going back for more. I am so excited to eat the other half for lunch today (and I might've had some for breakfast)! The BBQ Chicken has already become my favorite sandwich!

Forget the chain sub shops, they don't compare to this place. They have homemade milk shakes that are out if this world. I haven't had a "hoagie" since I moved to Delaware, but this place does it right. The bread is amazing and all the ingredients were fresh and high quality...thick cut meat slices and fresh moist lettuce. You won't be disappointed.

I went in and the that place looked good i loved it when i saw all the different kinds of money from all over the world. The service was good I was greeted with smiles it made me feel welcomed. I looked at the menu and it was easy to read and understand. I went with a Cheese burger with pickles and onions and a small cheese fries with a strawberry milk shake. The wait wasn't long I was watching the TV and before i knew it the food came. The fries looked different from the ones I'm used to but they tasted awesome I didn't even need any ketchup the cheese fit that part. The cheese burger was very juice and tasty and the strawberry milkshake was nice and thick. I will definitely go back..

The food was pretty good. The staff was really nice and a clean environment. Its a small sandwich shop/restaurant. Its great for a small group. For the smallest sub of 5" was $5. I would recommend this restaurant.
