A very popular place for Wellingtonites to go. The food is ok but the desserts is where it's at. The staff was friendly- like one big happy family. (Perhaps literally?) it seems like they take great pride in their little restaurant but they need their food to hit the next level. Overall it's a nice place to meet a friend. The sticky buns are a warm bundle of heaven-no matter the time of year. Try it out!

Service in this place is horrible, if you can get it at all!! We tried to go there for brunch, and sat for 10 minutes without even being acknowledged my several of the staff who passed by our table. On previous visits it took 90 minutes plus to be served a standard breakfast. Just getting coffee can take 20 minutes. The food is good once it comes, but not worth THAT much of a wait!!

I use to be a fan of this establishment, but not anymore. The new owners apparently don't care about customer service. We sat down at a table for more than ten minutes and were never acknowledged even as we got up and left. Don't waste your time, they spend all their time making coffee instead of waiting on their customers.

Love this place. Small, cozy. Delicious pastries and desserts. Try the flourless chocolate cake when they have it. Just had the butternut squash soup. Full of flavor, very fresh taste. This is a jewel in an otherwise in-distinct town.

In some parts of the world, this restaurant might not receive 5 stars, but I believe in Wellington it is well deserved. The staff is friendly, patient and kind. The food is down home and good. The drinks above average. The service was a little slow, but it was the lunch rush in a small town, so it was to be expected. People knew each other by their first name and were courteous and polite. It made for a lovely meal with my two year-old. While she did an excellent job for someone her age, she was not a mild mannered thirty year-old and no one even blinked an eye. We will certainly be returning.

many coffee and tea choices. Everything that we all ate was delicious. I had a croissant turkey club. Hubby had quiche. Mom had quiche as well plus butternut squash soup. Dad had chicken noodle soup and salad. Drinks were: iced tea, hot tea, cappuccino, and cafe mocha. Excellent service too!!

I live in Wellington and of everywhere I've been here this is my least favorite restaurant. The first time I went I sat and worked. The frappachino was so-so and over priced, but what really bothered me was that the owner came to me and told me never to come and work there again. The second time I came I had a decedent breakfast. Still, something was missing.

This place is cute. The food is good. The coffee is good. The service is very slow. The staff is very friendly but very slow. Some of the staff members are a little out there. One time a super hippie type staff member stopped my 9yr old son in the middle of his order and said "Duuude, do you believe in reincarnation because I feel like you're an old soul man." We just smiled, ordered, and tried to get out of there quickly. As we left my son told me that he thought the lady was "creepy" and wanted to know what is reincarnation.

This beautiful building houses a lovely family-run restaurant. The food is freshly made with quality ingredients. The desserts and pastries have a perfect homemade taste. I truly enjoyed our visit and plan to return whenever possible. I started with a bowl of egg nog ice cream as an appetizer. It was sublime-something only local dairies provide anymore. Our sandwiches were delicious and generous. The best part of the meal was the pecan pie. This is my go to dessert, and the Chocolate Rose did it proud. Three in our party said it was the best they'd ever had. I'd put it near the top. The one weakness, as other reviews have commented, is that the friendly service is slow. This isn't fast food. It is carefully prepared family food. If you are in a rush, you had best consider another venue. If you are looking for the cafe where members of the community linger to enjoy each other's company in a rural town, this is the destination you are looking for. Be sure to say hi to Mom in the kitchen.

I thought I better log in this review before I totally forgot about this. So we were brought here for breakfast by a couple who lives in Fort Collins en routw to our 11 plus hours drive to Kansas City, Missouri. You can say that the four people in our party "gas up" our bellies here before we embarked on the second leg of our drive from Washington to Missouri. For my taste, I don't think the food was great but it is better than your average breakfast restaurant. I had some omelet and a glass of juice. Though we did not wait as long as some YELPERS did, I remember that our wait was about 15 minutes before we were given our menu and another 10 or 15 minutes before our order was taken. Since there were six of us in our party that morning, our food did not come to our table at the same time as well. So while some of us were already served and eating, others are just talking, watching other people eat and waiting for their food to arrive. I find this a little odd. BUT, I rarely go to a sit-down restaurant with this many people in our party so I really don't know if this is the norm or not. I would like to think that, since everyone ordered at the same time, everyone should have their food at the SAME time. Am I right on this assumption? The charm of this place IS the building itself. From my understanding, it used to be a bank -- and you can really see from the columns and architectural details inside the restaurant that it WAS made to be one. I am still on the fence though whether or not I like the transition from bank to restaurant. Now this got me thinking... if I remember the architecture more than I remember the food, is the place worth coming back to and have breakfast?

I gotta give my full kudos to The Chocolate Rose for sure! I had their quesadilla which was good along with a bite of another sandwich that my companion had. All of it was quite tasty and you could tell that it was made fresh! The thing that sealed the deal with giving this place 5 stars was that they had chocolate dipped espresso beans for sale (so I will keep that in mind for the future) and the chocolaty dessert we had with raspberry syrup was simply divine. The dessert was pretty rich so if you don't like to eat much of rich foods or not have a heavy stomach in the summertime because of the heat then definitely split that with your significant other to keep it light and not have a heavy stomach when going back outside.
