Staying at peaceful valley ranch for a friend's wedding. After hiking all day I needed a place to grab a bite to eat and a beer. Everyone made this Minnesota girl feel right at home!! Not only were my chips and salsa and pizza delicious, the hospitality was great as well!

Stopped by here on a Sunday. Had a few beers and some good food. The service was excellent. There was a live band, fresh air, and small talk with other tables and the occasional bike rider filling up there water bottles from a cooler on one of the tables before they got back on their bikes and headed out. If your in the neighborhood stop in and check it out yourself.

Stopped by here for lunch on New Year's Day during a drive through the mountains. We both had the Sloppy Joe sandwich with fries. Excellent flavor and big serving size. The roll was made on site as was the meat and vegetable filling. The fries were hand cut here as well. Doesn't get much fresher than that. Owner even treated us to some alcohol based ice cream that she made. Excellent as well! I skipped the homemade cherry pie that was on offer as I was too full. But I now wish I'd tried it. I'd urge anyone to try this place if you're in the area. Quaint and cozy little bar with excellent food. I'll be back.

Small town stop with simple decor and decent pizza. It's a local bar by night with live music from time to time, otherwise a decent place for lunch if you are in the area. Don't expect anything fancy.

I've been in there a couple times for lunch passing through and the pizza was fresh and delicious and the service was good too, I guess my experience's have been better than some of the others...

The food is good and greasy. The patrons and staff are nice. When I went, a band was playing outside, so that was a nice treat too. I can see myself stopping here again when I go back to Brainard Lake.

I had a terrible experience here. Yes, it was quaint and pretty, but the smell was overwhelming! The floors haven't been mopped in at least a year. The one employee working that day had a charm about him...funny, under-his-breath comments, quirky...but he had the dirtiest apron and nastiest rag hanging from his hip! It was DISGUSTING!!!! He was the only employee in the joint, so I feel badly for him, but the service just didn't work. I had a burger and, since I'm gluten-free, no bun. I asked if he'd put it in a lettuce wrap. He assured me. Uck. I got a frozen patty that was dry and had some fake-looking grill marks on it. It was just sitting on a piece of lettuce with a half-green tomato slice and a couple of chunks of onions. Guys, it cost me $7.50? Maybe $8.50 for that. Nasty! Other people entered while we were waiting for our food and that helped, as there was a distraction for me, away from all of the dirt, the broken window with an old moth fluttering in it right by my shoulder, and the smell. Now, my friend ordered the MillSite pizza and said he liked it, but he was the one who wanted to stop at this joint. Our bill was over $38 for nothing much. He never brought us our check, so I took it upon myself to go back near the kitchen and to find our check, total the amount due, using the menu sitting nearby, put out the money and calculate a tip. The cook/waiter/dirty/old guy came over and was appreciative that I was helping him out and asked if I was leaving a tip. I said, "Yes. Mop the floors."

I've stopped in a couple times. Great roadside stop, friendly people, good music. It's great if you like the mountain vibe.

The perfect spot to stop, relax and disappear into a different era and mindset. My husband and I were out motorcycling the peak to peak when the weather turned cold and miserable. We pulled into the mill site inn in search of reprieve and were pleasantly surprised. The clientele was laid back and the place had the perfect rustic charm that can only be found in an Authentic mountain bar. The drinks were cold, the fireplace warm and the music was spot on. We look forward to returning again and again!

We really had high hopes for this place! It looks so cute and charming and rustic from the outside... Nice and down to earth. Sadly it did not live up to our expectations. We were starting anyway and sadly we also experienced pretty terrible service. The staff was nice but the food took forever just ordering the food took forever and when it came out it ... it was just warm and I never got the little side salad that I really wanted... The food wasn't bad but it was just mediocre especially for the price... We got a Stromboli and the eggplant Garibaldi both were just fine... Nothing to write home about. The place was also kind of cold and certainly not the cleanest. I felt kind of bad we should have just eaten in Nederland!!

Starving after a hike to Lake Isabelle, we stopped in to see what was on the menu. We stayed and enjoyed a hamburger for the kid, nachos for me, a tasty sandwich for the hubs and fries. They make their own pizza dough and bread daily. Service was a little slow but the food and interesting ambiance was worth the wait. We discussed a missing 74 year old hiker with our server who knew the woman. So sad. The dark wood inside the restaurant made it even sadder. Everything inside is dark. I mean, EVERYTHING. Even the server's personality. No smiles but efficient.

The Yelp listing saying that dress is formal is a joke. The Millsite is a favorite of locals, which is to say, a bunch of eclectic individuals inhabiting nearby Ward, Colo., a 19th-Century gold mining center, which hasn't had the common decency to become a ghost town. Stick with the pizza or hamburgers, which, by the way, are massive and locally prepared, completely unlike one of the review's description. Really, really friendly.

We stopped there for dinner after dropping the one son at BSA camp. We had very little hope that this would be good, but it was the only eatery with in 45 mins. We orders chili cheese fries, a whole Philly and cheese ravioli. Prepared for the worse, we were shocked at the size of the portions. And EVERYTHING was sooooo good. The bread was FRESH. Better than alot of high dollar places. They had a band playing people are partying and having a good time. Everyone was friendly. It was so good for dinner, we went back for lunch and order an outstanding pizza.. A must stop for anyone traveling on HWY 72. Friday and Saturday Nights are just plain fun.

In some ways this is what you want from a little mountain roadhouse. Small, friendly, decent food, good beer selection, TV not too damn loud, etc. etc. In fact, the food is surprisingly good for what it is (bar food). So here's the big but: The service is ATROCIOUS. We four friends stopped in one Sunday midafternoon, and there were maybe two tables seated, plus 4-5 barstools taken. Not a huge crowd. Yet we were there for almost two hours total. Phase 1, Waiting for Menus: 10 minutes. Phase 2, Waiting for Drinks: 5 minutes, plus 5 more for confusion when the waitress simply refused to believe that one of us had not ordered the beer she brought. (This guy's clean, sober and on the program for 10 years now. He didn't order the fucking beer.) Phase 3, Waiting for Food: At least 20. To their credit, again, the food (meatball sub, eggplant parm, green chili, stuff like that) was really tasty. Phase 4, Waiting for Return of Waitress to Ask If We Wanted More Drinks or Anything: 20 minutes. Phase 5, Waiting for Check: 45 minutes, at least. Eventually one of us actually got up and stuck his head into the kitchen, looking for our server, who was nowhere to be found. Maybe toking up in the car or whatever, which is fine, waitressing sucks, but come on. You work on tips, right? So anyway, don't go if you're in a hurry--and I can't even imagine what it's like when the place is crowded. But if you have time to kill, go ahead and order the eggplant parm. It's good. Just eat slow.

Stopped by for lunch and had the Stromboli. Along with the wonderful, very tasty Stromboli came a bowl of sauce for dipping. I'm Italian and extremely picky about my Italian food. I have to say that it was the best I've had since moving to Estes Park!

We had a much different experience from the other reviewers. We were on our way back to Estes Park from Brainard Lake and thought it would be a cool, local place to try. Although we started out as the only diners (it was a little early for the dinner rush), it took over 2 hours to order, get our meal, and pay. We just ordered burgers and they were nothing more than frozen patties from Sam's, heated up on a flat top. Mine wasn't even cooked all the way through. My son wanted the sliders from the appetizer menu and all they did was cut up one of the frozen patties. Fries were an extra charge of $2 and were just Ore-Ida steak fries. They tout their home made breads and pizza doughs but the buns were also standard grocery fare. Don't waste your money here--go into Estes Park and try the Rock Inn Mountain Tavern.

Because it's been awhile since I've visited the Millsite, I hope this review will remind others of the Millsite and bring about some more current reviews!! It is a wonderful, log-hewn, funky, and comfortable inn located in scenic Ward, Colorado...on the highway on the edge of town. Delicious homemade food-- creative menu, good drinks, friendly people (family-owned), pleasant memories from a long time ago. You probably drove right past it when you went to the mountains to see the changing aspens.....who knows?

We stopped for pizza at this place before heading to Brainard Lake and were quite happy with the meal. The pizza dough was excellent -- very crisp with a soft center, and the toppings we had added (all veggie) were generously applied. We were pleasantly surprised that the menu also included many more vegetarian options than we had seen in most other Colorado restaurants. The atmosphere was a bit dark and dank and the service a bit brusque, but overall we were happy with the experience. Check out the interesting fireplace rocks with pyrite inclusions.

The other reviewers are certainly correct about the service! Two hours for a simple dinner. We had to hunt down the waitress to get a single drink refill, and were told later they charge for a whole new drink if you want more than one refill of pop. Who does that anymore? My salad came after I finished my pizza, and wasn't close to what I was expecting from the menu description. It was a $3.25 house salad described as "almost a whole meal on its own!" Not hardly. My pizza was only warm, the promised pepper flakes and parmesan cheese never materialized, my son's pizza sub was also only warm. My table was set when I sat at it, but was dirty, as was the windowsill right next to the table, the other tables I saw, and the waitress' clothing. Not particularly affordable, either. $56 before tip for four people: 1 medium pizza, 2 draft beers, 3 pops, 2 salads, 1 sub, and 2 cups of soup. I had heard good things about the place, but will never be stopping there again.

I love this place. The pizza is actually as good as 90% of the pies you can find in Denver. The service can be a little slow now and again, but you need to take into account where you are. It's the mountains, just relax. If you are in a hurry drive back to Denver. The place is priced very reasonably for what you get. The bar always has characters in it which is an added bonus. I make a point to hit this place every time I am up in the Indian Peaks Wilderness.

Go for the community bluegrass jam evenings in the fall. Food is just ok, but when you mix it with the sweet high-altitude air, some beers, and a long day at work the place is heaven. Pizza is good enough. Nachos better. Avoid the tres expensive fettucine alfredo.

A great place to unwind after a day of hiking or 4-wheeling. The pizza is great, as are the desserts. Drinks are a bit steep but mine were stout. Menu changes with the season. Depending upon the season you may find only locals at the bar, skiers on their way home or some bikers enjoying a drive along the Peak-To-Peak Hwy.
