To be to the point, this place is a dump. We stayed in the annex, and for $175 after taxes (and an extra $15/night for parking) I was shocked at how old, unkempt and dated this place is. It kinda felt like we were staying in someones basement, with old, castaway, mis-matched furniture & a 19" old box television. The location is decent for skiing, however you will hear the loud hum of i70 all night. I feel ripped off and will never stay here again. I suggest you steer clear of this divey, way overpriced disaster. Compared to other dumpy hotels Ive stayed in, this is more like a $60 hotel, fyi.

not worth the money. staff is playing catch-up constantly. reservation was for two beds, only got one and had to ask for a roll-away. guess what...thermostat is busted and no heat. with single digit temps tonight, that's garbage. front desk just dropped off two space heaters which will get us through. only good thing about this place is the location...close to the base of vail. never staying here again. look elsewhere. Update: Alright, clearly I wrote my review a day early. and I understand how it could seem like I'm ganging up with other reviewers, but the customer service at this hotel is hands down the worst I have ever experienced in any capacity at any type of business. Clearly, the customer is not always right with these imbeciles (to put it mildly). We were told that our room would be changed after a night in the wrong reservation (giving us two beds instead of one for the four people in our group). After skiing for the day, we got back to the hotel and called the front desk to get the new room. The attendant, Shane, told us it was "a little late in the game" for that. Seriously? After that comment, Shanes eventual solution for the situation was to make us go to another hotel. With just a few hours before bedtime and an early depature in the morning, it wasn't worth the effort. When told the hotel would be receiving a less than positive review, Shane was dismissive and clearly did not give a shit about his tenants. Terrible service, several instances of broken or unusable equipment/amenities, and that all pretty much cancels out the advantegeous location. Do not stay here. Whatever more you have to spend at the next cheapest hotel in the area (granted, nothing is cheap here), it will definitely be worth the extra money. And Shane, enjoy your miserable time at the front desk until this dump is torn down in a couple months.

Definitely on the cheaper side of places to stay in Lionshead. We were able to book a room for $165/night (including tax) for a Studio Queen on the Valley side - thanks to other reviews on this site and elsewhere I knew to book in the main building since it was more recently renovated than the Annex. (Though, worth noting, there is a 'public' shower for guest use in the Annex... more on that later). We requested an early check-in (normal time is 4pm) and were able to get in before noon - nice! The main building includes a basement room for ski/snowboard storage with lockable lockers (bring your own locks). Our room included a mini-fridge with broken ice maker, a TV with a remote that was only usable to change channels, and climate control that only included electric baseboard heat. The bed wasn't very comfortable, and we didn't see any opportunities to enjoy cookies or breakfast... maybe our timing was off? Employees were very helpful. We were able to store our luggage after check-out (11am) while we went boarding, and would have been able to use the Annex shower had I not hurt my knee and put a premature end to our last day on the mountain. Strange that the Inn has both a bar and a restaurant that appear not to be used anymore... though there is a pretty nice hot tub that was frequently used. All in all, Lionshead Inn is somewhat of a relic, but it's cheap and it's in town. For that reason, it met my expectations even though it was far from posh. If you're in the market for luxury, this is not the place for you.

Well, at least this place is cheap. We were here in the summer, so parking was free. The biggest negatives were no AC and super loud street (we were facing I-70). As a result we ended up being either very hot and unable to sleep or unable to sleep due to the noise. The beds weren't great, but weren't bad. I think it's a case of "you get what you pay for", and for where it's at in Vail, this place is cheap.

Wow just fucking wow... Here it goes people pay attention. Checked into this hotel late Friday after skiing all day at Vail, get to the room and it's a queen with a pullout, clearly not what I booked with 4 people, I call the front desk and tell them, he indicates and I quote "I knew you'd be calling, yeah really sorry but we are fully booked, I can move you tomorrow" it's cool with me, so I ask for a pullout and they comply. About an hour after this we realize our heat ain't working, call the front desk and he says I can bring you a space heater, he brings up a space heater that I have in my office and I indicate we will need another one, this won't cover the whole room. He agrees brings us back another one and says and I quote "tomorrow we will move you and hook you up nice with a mountain facing room" I say thank you and that's that. Now onto Sunday. We finish our amazing day of skiing and return home, at 4:30 I pick up the phone and Shane indicates "it's a little late in the game for that, our housekeepers have went home" I have to wonder at this point if these people even care at all, the place is "being torn down in may" Again quoting the man from the first day, and to be honest it's clear they have checked out. Now Shane indicates he would call me back in a minute to see if there was anything he could do, and he called me back and there wasn't anything he could. I question him what we were supposed to do, sit around and ask them when we could check in to a new room, we ski'd all day?! I states shouldn't someone have left a note to move the family In room #205? Shane indicates well I know who would say that to you as far as moving you. Cool maybe he dropped the ball, but again what the fuck ?!?! Shane calls me back and asks if we want to be moved to a different hotel? What?!?! Are you high on your legalized marijuana your state sells, we are leaving your shit hole of a place early am for the airport. I then go on to explain how I have over 5,000 reads on my yelp reviews and I'm going to destroy his very incompetent hotel and staff. I said don't worry Shane I'll be sure to mention your name in it and the guy from the day before, Shane responds" your going to put the guys who name you can't remember in it" Very arrogantly. I respond yes. I'm fuming at this point, I take offense to tough guys who act tough over a phone or over a keyboard. Oh he best part is, all along he kept calling me mr. McCormick I had to repeat 3 times it's not mr McCormick he replies with "oh yeah it isn't my bad" yeah bro cool story tell it again... Here's the deal Shane, and the lions head inn, I realize you will shut down and let's face it, it's not surprising, but maybe Shane can take his high school education and moves his skills or lack their of to a motel 6 I hear they will leave the lights on for you !!! Glad I got comped 8 freebies at vail for the weekend otherwise I might go introduce myself to Shane and sit him down and explain why all he will ever be is a ski bum desk clerk the rest of his life... Party on brah !!! In closing holy shit ownership you need to put a leash on this dog !!

Pretty crappy overall. Just standard hotel rooms, service/hospitality is terrible. It seems like they hire the bottom of the barrel at the Inn and that's what type of service you get, bottom of the barrel. It's not terrible and for one of the cheaper options to stay in Vail it's worth it for college students or young people.

Parking: Sufficient, but $12/day Service: Helpful and accomodating Price: Great compared to other options in Vail I booked this place in November for MLK weekend (not realizing it was MLK weekend). Alas, when we checked in - they had overbooked and could not give us the two double beds I had requested. They offered a King Bed + rollaway bed option (sleeps 3) for $50 off our previous rate. I negotiated further, complaining that we had 4 people per room and now one was forced on the floor. They accomodated and threw in free parking. I was pleased. Lionshead is the least expensive option in Vail by far (average $200/night before Jan 30th). Some other details: Pros: 1. Includes free continental breakfast of muffins, fruit, toast, bagels, yogurt, cereal, oatmeal, coffee/tea. Nothing mind blowing but a nice freebie regardless. 2. Convenient, walking access to Lionshead Village and the Lionshead Vail lifts 3. Nice and accomodating management (thx Ben) 4. Best prices I could find in Vail for double rooms 5. Clean rooms 6. Bath and Body Works toiletries 7. Nicely compartmentalized closets for snow gear storage (I'm not talking about actual skis/boards, though - just shoes, jackets, etc) Cons: 1. The "Annex" (which we were booked in) have older rooms. The main lobby looked much nicer, and I believe the main building has renovated rooms. 2. Small TV - remote control also was dysfunctional 3. If you get an even numbered room in the Annex you can hear the freeway noise 4. HOT! Central heating system - so no control. I personally prefer hot than cold, so it was ok for me. But other in my party complained. Would I return? Yes! But I would likely come prepared with a sleeping bag in case you fall into the same overbook situation. My friend said that rollover bed was NOT comfortable.

The rooms were ugly, loud (right next to I-70), Too Cold & Hot (you have no control over the heating system), they stick you will a $12 a night parking fee that they fail to mention when you book, and the elevator was supper slow. The free continental breakfast was pretty nice, at least compared to most, staff was friendly, and location was good. Ultimately I would only stay here if comparable places were $100-$150 more expensive.

Its a cheap place to stay in Vail and front desk staff knows it. They could care less about their hotel, your stay, their own personal hygiene.... Rooms filled with harvest gold and avocado colored decor. The towels were thread bare, felt and looked like they have been washed 7000x with no horizons of being replaced any time soon. I was hesitant to walk on the carpet without shoes. This place is need of some kind of upgrades. It has the potential to be at least decent for the prices they charge. At the end of the day, someone needs to buy it, fire the front desk kid, and just gut the place. Only upside is that its an easy walk to the gondola.

Had some friends in town for a weekend and found what I thought was a great deal on a place for them to stay, turns out not so great. This place is a dump. Old. old old. On top of that you had to pay to park in the lot which is wrong, other hotels in Vail do not charge for parking. Adding up the cost of the room plus the parking, we could of stayed somewhere else nice with a pool and not had to pay to park. Well with that said the lace is being brought down and new condos going in.
