It's not terrible, but I can't recommend it in all good conscience. The elk tenderloin was anything but tender. The service was atrocious (reaching across another guest to clear plates...puh-leez). Saving graces were the gondola ride to get there (free after 2pm), the view from the top of the mountain, the pot du creme, and the bread pudding.

Located at the top of the Eagle Bahn Gondola from Lion's Head at 10,350 ft (!!!), this was the only waiter service restaurant on the mountain and thank goodness we could get away from the pub and overpriced food court/cafeteria foods found on most ski resort mountains. I was skiing with family all day in Vail and didn't want to go all the way into the village with our gear for a decent lunch. We were all really happy with our food and service there. I had the Chicken Pot Pie and it was delicious and a pretty big serving. They also have a wide selection of wines and beers. Great views of skiers passing by and there's a nice patio area that's pretty nice to sit out with a cup of hot apple cider if it's sunny. You can also enjoy this restaurant without hitting the slopes, just take the gondola up and down the mountain. Access to Bistro Fourteen via the Eagle Bahn Gondola is free to foot passengers after 2pm Children's Menu: offers a selection of appetizer, entrée, and dessert for just $10

The ambiance is nice, but the gonadal and food special is misleading. They force gratuity on the customers without notice. My brussel sprouts were burned on the outside and underdone in the inside. The service was alright. I wouldn't recommend this place.

Great casual dinner, that won't cost you $100 a plate when you're at the already expensive Vail resorts (lift tickets are currently $129). We had great service from our waiter Jim, and ordered the Rack of Lamb and Ahi Tuna dish. Great to take the gondola up at night and eat too!

Stopped in here for a few beers at the top of the Gondola. Our server was super friendly and attentive. The views from the outdoor seating are amazing, and so is the people watching. Although we didn't eat, the food looked great.

The petite dessert is really good but not in the menu. Be sure to ask for it. However we were there because a storm caused the tram to stop service and it was not pleasant to be stuck here for 3-4 hours. Our whole afternoon was wasted. The staff here were very nice and offered us water and chips before they could commence service (their staff were stuck on the other end of the tram!) I had a crab chowder and it was good.

Michelle Obama & kids are literally one table away from me having dinner, video and pic to follow, sadly a secret service agent jumped in front of my camera...weirder is my video is white???? Then I bump into them in the bathroom and the same women agent said they just want privacy...I apologised and kindly replied I would love a picture with my kids with them...the Obama friend in a ghetto attitude says; we're on vacation & their just kids....I replied we are on vacation too and they're just kids, the Bushes were never like this in Maine!"

Hallelujah there is more to ski resort food than beer and crappy pizza! Bistro Fourteen located in the gondola house at the top of the Eagle Bahn was an amazing choice for lunch and I was blown away at the menu selection, value, and quality of service. The complementary corn bread was to die for and somehow the local micro brews manage to taste even better at 11,200 feet. Don't miss this place. Kids eat for $10 too which is one helluva deal.

Approached Bistro Fourteen with a bit of trepidation, as reviews were mixed, with the negatives extremely so. Needn't have worried; as the saying goes, "it's a good one of what it is." Our reasons for deducting two stars: first, it is not the equal of some other places in the area, as good as it is: much of what you're paying for is the view (and the required lift ticket, despite a discount, may be a non-starter for some). Second, even though we had a reservation for lunch, the walk-in party ahead of us was given the last available outdoor table; third, they were out of the only Pinot Noir offered by the glass, and would not offer a glass from any of their other Pinots. When I mentioned that running out of wines seemed to have become endemic to Vail, our waitress replied that it was their most popular wine and they'd been out since last Thurs. (I realize this is two hours away from Denver, but Vail isn't exactly Podunk--it's a solid foodie town, and were it not for the stellar view and more-prosaic tastes of a tourist clientele not there for a gastronomic experience, it ought to be more competitive with its wine program). But the remaining three stars are solid. Though the hostess apologized for being short a server, we hardly noticed: ours was professional and prompt without being pushy. I ordered the "lollipop lamb chops" as an app, expecting two small pass-around hors d'oeuvre-sized chops. Instead, I got two thick CO chops, for which I'd have paid more raw in any Chicago grocery (and probably inferior New Zealand ones at that ). For the price of an app, I got an entree, garnished with chipotle-flecked honey glaze and a quinoa "slaw" laced with edamame, bok choy, peppers and carrots. Ordered mid-rare; though one was closer to medium and the other rare, both were delicious and tender. I was able to order the insalata caprese in a half-portion; the tomatoes were a little underripe and the house-made mozzarella on the firm side. But the balsamic vinaigrette was thick and tasty, there was a generous dollop of a good pesto, and plenty of perfectly dressed mesclun greens. Husband ordered soup (chipotle cream) and half an ahi tuna salad. Generous portion of ahi for a half-salad, and the same mesclun. Espresso had plenty of crema and stayed hot to the last drop. And the price was quite reasonable (of course, we had to pop for gondola tix to get there but said tix included a hefty lunch discount). Our window table did give us a nice view of Mount of the Holy Cross, and the bistro was convenient to our hiking trailhead. Don't try to go to dinner, though: they close at 3. Oh, and never mind texting a pic of your meal, or a selfie of you by the window: at 10,000+' up and indoors, it's a cellular dead zone. (Got AT&T signal from the outdoor "wedding platform," though).

Just returned from a ski trip and I have to comment on this. We took an early lunch to avoid the crowds at 11 am. We were a party of five and there was no one in the restaurant but was told by the glasses wearing hostess that a reservation for bigger parties would be helpful. Three of us ordered the CHICKEN POT PIE and were disappointed. With the cast iron pot, one gets the impression that they use fresh dough and filling and bake it in the oven. It appears they put a pastry in a cast iron pot and then use luke warm pot filling (probably from a bag) and then place another piece of pastry on top. We were all disappointed, mainly because it was warm at best and cold in some spots. The waitress was hot, begins with a D

Great view! Great service! Great gluten-free and vegetarian options! My sister and I sat at the bar and the bartender (sorry I forgot his name), was very friendly and attentive. Very knowledgeable about the menu, they even have a separate Gluten free Menu and gluten free beer which was awesome! Their tomato bisque was to die for!

Food was good, view was amazing and prices weren't terrible for top of the mountain dining. If it wasn't for the questionable seating policy, this place would get 5 stars! Make sure you have a reservation! Our party of 4 arrived at 12:15 and were told since we didn't have a reservation, it would be a 15 minute wait. The restaurant was more than half empty so we kind of wondered but it was no problem....You're on top of a mountain so it's either ski to another (likely busy) restaurant or wait. We opted to wait and started exploring the building but I hopped on OpenTable and made a reservation for the next available table (12:45) just in case. When we got back to the restaurant at 12:30 for our promised table, the place was still half full but they wouldn't seat us because they still had reservations pending. We sat and waited for another 15 minutes (wasting more time from our expensive lift ticket) and were finally seated in a still half empty restaurant. We asked the hostess what the problem was but she still couldn't articulate the issue or tell us why they wouldn't give up tables after 15 minutes. What a waste of time!

Food was nothing to write home about, but since it's on the slope and it's a sit down which gives you a break from cafeteria food, I gave it a 3. If it were based just on food and wasn't on the slope, I would have given a 2.5.

Pros: + Great view. Cons: - Service was BEYOND awful... despite it being half empty. Waiter wasn't rude but seemed to... forget about us? I don't know. Took about 20 minutes to get our drinks after we ordered them. - Food is absolutely mediocre. Nothing special about it at all. I didn't want to expel it from my system, but I was happy enough to get back to the resort and get the taste out of my mouth with a beer. - Beer selection left me wanting... a lot. I would absolutely never ever ever go back to this place and would caution anyone I ran into to steer clear of it as well. The village at the bottom of the mountain seemed to have a lot of great eats. No need to waste money at this spot.

For a ski resort restaurant, it is pretty good. Especially when you compare the food/prices to cafeterias on the mountain. Do no go however if you are not already on the mountain. My dad and I had been skiing all day and the rest of my family (not skiing) took the 30 minute shuttle/gondola ride to get there. And they were very underwhelmed. In sum...decent food, not fabulous. Go if on mountain...avoid if in village. Good news: they have happy hour specials. We went on a Thursday and they had Bud Lights for $2. Not bad.

Best crushed rare seared tuna ever! This menu is tricky tho. Looks like u could get a bad meal if you don't know what to order. The waitress recommended this and it was a huge portion and cooked to perfection! We also ordered the arugula salad with buffalo cheese it was amazing. The Moscow mule was yummy. Also, as a side note, if you are under 180lbs, go jump on the trampolines! The guys there are a hoot, especially if you have had a few cocktails. They made my jump very memorable catapulting me up way past the top... Scary and hilarious!!! Best night ever!!

I bought the $40 scenic ride ticket and got $20 voucher to eat here. Service was fast, waiter was friendly enough, but they are an overpriced lunch place if I may say so based on my experience. I ordered the lobster pasta. It cost $22 but with tax and gratuity (18% although I eat by myself, maybe because the voucher say so) it ended up to be $27. I will say the price was almost okay for the size, 8 medium pieces of lobster a lot of artichoke and a huge amount of pasta, but the taste was just normal. In fact the lobster was so overcooked I had a hard time chewing on it. Not going to eat here again even with the voucher.

The views are beautiful and this is the only reason that you would eat here in the evenings. The service was good on this evening. The ahi tuna salad was decent, but I was very disappointed by the portion of the tuna that accompanied the salad. There was only 5 or 6 thinly sliced pieces, so very little protein to make it a meal. The beet salad looked like it had canned beets and could tell that the beet were even roasted. For the price of the salads, I was disappointed with the portions and quality. Also, order the bakes oysters, which was OK and went well with our salads. The one really great point of the restaurant is that it has a wonderful kids' menu. For $10, the kids started with a carrot and fruit plate, then had spaghetti with cheese and a hamburger as their entree (respectively), and then dessert with ice cream+brownie. This worked out well for us. Just for this point, we will come back because as parents I will pretty much eat anything as long as my kids are taken care of. Lastly, if you have a gluten sensitivity, ask for their gluten sensitive menu. They are very accommodating in regards to this dietary requirement. Overall, we would come back to make the most out of the fee for the gondola.

We took the gondola up (summer) and hiked over to this restaurant and the zip lining, etc. We were here on 7/15/14. When we bought the gondola tickets they asked if we wanted to buy discount lunch tickets for 6.00 each that would give us 30.00 off lunch. If we didn't use them we could get a refund so we went for it. The food and service was really good! Hubby and I both had the fried chicken and LOVED it. Really really good! The kids liked their food and the fact that they got a starter and a sundae as well. We will definitely return if we have the chance.

I was here in the middle of July. Everything his is OK. It's heads and tails above a hot dog and hamburger, however it's OK food. I would not make a reservation and pay to come up the gondola just for the restaurant. Oops.

Great place for a drink after tubing at Adventure park! The views are great during the daytime. We didn't eat here but the menu & prices looked great. Reasonable for mountain top dining.

Great atmosphere. Stopped after tubing, and we happened to be there for the opening night of the season so all entrees were 1/2 off. Total with 4 drinks, 1 appetizer, 2 entrees and tip was $100. Great service and the food was good. Particularly liked the Colorado Grand Slam - hot chocolate, Bailey's, Frangelico and peppermint schnapps.

Located at the top of the mountain this restaurant is accessible via gondola ride. The hamburger was very good, and the fries were delicious. When I was there in August they were running some great wine specials as well. The Italian wedding soup was also very good. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and quality food. We took advantage of the summer special - which included a 15 dollar coupon. Great value.

Arnold Palmer has a fizz, stale bread, cashew nut rice with the BBQ ribs is missing the nuts, the elk steak is tough
