Each time I go to Telluride, I like to try a few new places... Eventually I'll probably eat at every restaurant in town (I think I'm about half way there). Going back to last year, I had heard people talk about how The Cornerhouse is a local favorite, so it seemed logical to check this place out. The aptly-named Cornerhouse is - you guessed it - a house on the corner. When you walk in, you are greeted by the typical fixtures you would expect to find in a house, such as a dining area, a lounging area, stairs, and a full bar. At this point, there are no instructions (nothing that says "wait here for a table," or "order at the counter," or "seat yourself"), so it's easy to feel a little lost if you're not familiar with the setup. The correct answer is "sit at the bar" or "order at the register." A little awkward. I chose to sit at the bar. The menu is pretty standard American fare; nothing really stood out as a signature dish, or something particularly delicious-sounding. I went with the lobster roll, because I was feeling like a light lunch, and it's hard to find a lobster roll in the Rocky Mountain region. The lobster roll is not an authentic interpretation of what they serve up in Maine by any means (not that I'm an expert on that - the closest I've had is at Luke's Lobster in Philly) - instead of straight buttered lobster meat, they serve lobster salad in a buttered roll. It was still quite tasty, and a worthy menu item, even if it's not the way it is served in New England. The fries were tasty; they definitely have a winner there. All in all, the Cornerhouse is a good lunch spot, but nothing to write home about. I didn't have any real complaints, and I enjoyed my meal, but it wasn't memorable. The atmosphere is definitely more memorable than the food.

Okay so it pretty much is a house on a corner! Anyways you walk in and see the bar and that is where you place your order. You can pretty much see the cook cooking the food from the register, which is something I appreciate. We went on Monday so we got the special...burgers and fries for 7$. The burger was decent...tasty actually and the fries were awesome. Those make other good French fries look bad. The service wasn't extraordinary ,but the food made up for it. We didn't really feel welcomed but that isn't a huge deal. The food came out quick which is nice. Today I think we will go back for taco Tuesday!

Great place to get a good burger, good fries, good tots ... All the food and drinks are super affordable... Tons of tv, so any game you want the will put on...The cheese curds are awesome too. Friendliest staff in town!

Tater-Tot heaven. Great food, friendly staff, great for kids and adults who are like kids. Excellent value. Highly recommend all items on the menu.

I love this place for its simplicity and local flavor. Just the fact this place is in Telluride, and the food is from Anyplace USA, makes it great. Nothing fancy, in a place where fancy is king.

Food was good but the wait was terrible. High school lunch rush gets served before everyone, even if you ordered before them.

We heard good things about the food so wanted to try it; however the service was so terrible we didn't end up eating. After seating ourselves and sitting there for ten full minutes without being greeted we got up and left (again without being spoken to). Meanwhile the two servers who were there were taking shots and cussing at the top of their lungs. No matter how good the food, putting up with that kind of rude is not worth my money.

Everything was great, food, service atmosphere... We took our daughter who is happy to go back anytime... We've been three times now and it's consistently good and off the beaten trail !!!

We heard about this place through word of mouth for their Monday night trivia. This is where all the locals hang out. It had such a laid back vibe. So laid back that you have to wait about 15 minutes to order a beer, expect to wait 30 minutes for any food, and don't be an asshole to the clearly understaffed place. The place had run out of pitchers, so we had to scavenge the tables and bring an empty dirty pitcher to the bartender to purchase one. But the people there are awesome. We had a blast playing trivia, and meeting local small business owners, and making new friends.

Quaint little hangout with a decent selection of food and beverages. Bf and I ordered veggie nachos which were just ok. I liked the nacho sauce on it. It also had rainbow tortilla chips and some strange homemade pita-like chips. Came with a side of guacamole, sour cream and salsa. Guac was weak- tasted like it came from a bag. Probably wouldn't order again unless I just needed a snack. Pinio Grigio was decent. The TVs could be a little bigger. The ambiance is very chill and service is always friendly. Next time I want to try the fish tacos :D

Would post zero if it was an option, order take out all the time and tip 20%, call to order take out told to hold for a min. 20 minutes later still on hold I walk in and ask what is the deal and am told to leave they are too busy don't need my business. Have a little class and when you answer the phone and can't handle a take out order just say it instead of leaving someone on the line and treating them rudely.

Small little place and would like to see what it's like during the ski and peak summer season. Kind of confusing on how to order, was sure if it was self service or of the bartender takes your order...anyhow. I had the patty melt and it was awesome! Pure messy and greasiness all rolled into a little sandwich. Come here if you want something not on the main street where some locals hang out.

Nice atmosphere, great food. The staff could use a giant attitude improvement, despite my friends defending their rudeness.

It's a bar with good beer and good, cheap food. Plus every day's a happy day with some kind of offer; we've had the wings (Tuesday), tacos (Thursday) and burger (Friday) and can recommend the lot.

Good Telluride value, solid pub food. Burger with grilled onions - properly prepared. Onions were nicely done, but this isn't the place where they take the time to caramelize - this is snappily-prepared pub food. Salad was crisp and not out of a bag. Local beers on tap were $4, which I'm guessing is a bargain in Telluride. The friendly bar tender bragged that the fries are cut fresh daily. Patrons look mostly like locals. It was a quite Wednesday and we just hit town. It looks like it would be a classic, bustling, pub atmosphere when the place fills up.

First time today. $6 burger and tots. Really very good, ate outside with the kids they loved the kids meals. The beer was Cold! Can't beat it in Telluride $26. For 4 of us.

The best deal in Telluride! A fun time, to boot. My friends and I were in town for the bluegrass fest, and were looking to eat and drink well for a reasonable price. Cornerhouse Grille proved to be a total bulls-eye. I went on Tuesday night and had three beef tacos and a PBR for $6, including tip. What a great deal! The tacos were tasty. They won our repeat business and we came back Wednesday for sliders and Thursday for brats and chili cheese dogs. Many, many PBR pints were imbibed as well. The place has a pleasant, low-key vibe that was great for buzzed conversations with fest-goers and locals alike. We met lots of cool people sitting on Cornerhouse's outdoor porch. The waitstaff was fun and frendly, too. We made sure to tell other festgoers we met in town to check out the Cornerhouse. The next time I'm in Telluride I'll be back there myself, for more good times and delicious, cheap eats.

Came here after rolling into town and it was recommended by the hotel at which we stayed. I had the Reuben (on sourdough as I don't care for rye) and it was delicious. The pastrami was thick and tasty (wish it had a little more meat) and would definitely order it again. Did seem like a local's hangout. The tater tots were good and it was an ample serving. Slightly crispier than I like, but they were good. Worth checking out!

Went on a Monday when wings were half price. They were delicious and much needed after the hike up to Bridal veil falls. Also recommend the jalapeño poppers and homemade chips.

  • David ..

I had a great plate of wings here - some of the best I've had in a long time - but the downright hostile service forces my one star rating. If there were a way to eat here without having to interact with the front staff... As one who has periodically visited Telluride for over a decade, I get the local/tourist dichotomy. Really I do. But to openly disparage customers who aren't from town is, well, embarrassing and a little bit silly. If I were the owner of this place I'd seriously re-evaluate my hiring practices. The "I can't believe I have to interact with you people" 23 year old working the front on Wednesday afternoon was the only blight on an otherwise stellar Telluride experience.

Now, that's a patty melt! - and those tots - just one more and and you'll look like a Colorado cowboy couch potato. Locals love this place, and for good reason, cause its Damn Good Grease! Ordering is a bit of a process - especially if you get met with a bit of that Telluride testosterone which is comes off like "white boys gone wilderness" -- do they know they live in a resort? Well, anyway, all's good when it's served on grilled buttered bread!

We went here to watch the Cowboys Eagles game while we were in town and this place did a fine job. Food was good with a pretty good variety of American bar food standards. The tots were great. Believe the hype. Selection of beers on tap was pretty good with a decent selection of bottles to go with it. Telluride sure seems to love them some New Belgium. Lots of their beers everywhere. Cool building too.

Best grilled cheese and tater tots. If you like tots, make sure you ask for them. Sandwiches/burgers come with a choice or fries, tots, or salad. Owned by a local who shares my name, it is one of the cheaper places to eat in Telluride. Outdoor seating available.

Went here on advice from a lady we met on the Gondola. Had a burger and fries. Not bad, my burger was a bit over cooked, and fries were great. We sat outside and had a great view of the mountains. The restaurant was set up a little strange, having to order at a register, no table service. I can see why the other reviewers had problems with staff, as we really didn't see any. If you are in Telluride, it is worth a visit.

Unless you're a local, the staff at The Grill could care less. Little do they know they have become what they themselves despise the most. With that stated upfront, if you just want some great fries and a decent burger with a killer view, place your order at the bar and grab the best seat on the deck.

Chill spot to hang out and have some light food and drinks. Fried pickles were A+ ! Very good bartenders. Had a great time watching locals get plastered and stumble out the door. One of the best places to go if you want low key good quality food and drink.

Love this place! Tried the fish tacos and green chile soup this trip; outstanding!! Hubby had the lobster roll and clam chowder: outstanding!! I also love their Bloody Mary's and burgers.

Went here for lunch on Monday and it was PACKED. Be sure to have plenty of time to dine here or make sure to call ahead... You have to stand in line and order from the bartender.. (Who was very rude and short the other day).. I ordered the Pork! Pork! Pork! And it was phenomenal!!!! Everyone in my party was pleasantly surprised with the food. All in All, I highly recommend.

Ok, I am writing this review and giving it 5 stars based upon what it is: a bar with cheap eats. Don't come here expecting high quality fare; it is bar fare; but it is good and cheap. This place has awesome specials every night of the week and we had so much fun here. Thursday night is ladies night- 50% ALL drinks. I had a couple Yuccas - which is basically vodka and lemonade- and it was yummy. They don't skimp on the alcohol. Their tator tots are delicious! They were also running a special that night for $2 brat sliders- so we had to have a couple of those too. Perfect brat bites. They have a large patio and some board games if you want- some couches if you want- and there's usually a dog lounging as well. Loved it.

A little place a block and a half off a Main St. Definitely a locals place. I had the Thanksgiving Dinner Sammy, which really hit the spot mid-Bluegrass Festival. Turkey, Gravy, potatoes and stuffing. You really can't go wrong. The service was good, and although I have no real complaints..there seemed to be something missing. It's not a place I would immediately come back to, but maybe I need to come back at night as it seemed to be more of a carry out vibe for lunch... The food was good, cheap and the service friendly. So if that is what you are looking for by all means stop by the Cornerhouse.

I had one if the very best Rubens I have ever sampled here but I must agree, the waitstaff is not worthy. I wanted to walk past the girl at the counter and hand my tip directly to the cook. Instead I just walked out. If you just treated everyone with respect and a smile I would quickly change this to 5 stars. I'll try one more time in September. Good eats, poor peeps :-(

Had a wonderful experience with the staff. Great food for the price. Nothing too fancy and all locals eating and drinking there. Would certainly recommend.

I really enjoy this lil spot because It's in a house and off the beaten path. It's also a great little bar with some of the best deals in town. They have different deals on food going on every night of the week. So far everything I've had there has been pretty tasty. Super friendly staff working there too!

Our family went to this little bar/grill last ski season and we will definitely go back again. So many of the places to eat around Telluride are stuffy and expensive. This place seems like its more on the down low, and there were some locals hanging out too. We had a little bit of everything, wings, burgers, real fries. Most of their items are sports bar foods - comparable with Chili's or one of those type places. They had quite a few local beers on tap and prices were very reasonable considering the location. If you want to sneak off the beaten path for some good priced grub and beer, check this place out.
