What a gem! Found this place when traveling from Durango to Denver. Had been planning on fast food but so glad I didn't take that route! Got two burgers to go with fries because I was traveling with my dog. Everything was made to order and took around ten minutes. Beef tasted very fresh and it was cooked perfectly. Fries were hot and crispy. Service was very friendly. The pies in the display case looked amazing and I wish that I had enough room to try them. This place is awesome, especially for the middle of nowhere (no offense, Saguache)!

Food was very good and service was excellent. Would highly recommend the Ham & Cheese Sandwich, but cannot give one to the Hamburger/Cheeseburger. The desserts offered fatter were excellent. Overall this seemed to be the hot spot in this tiny town. If you are making the horrific drive to Durango this is definitely a bright spot.

If you'd like to find out what food used to taste like when people: 1. Took the time to do things right. 2. Shopped for great ingredients. 3. Made decisions based on flavor & quality rather than packaging & shelf life. 4. Loved cooking for others. Well then, stop in here for a meal sometime and get blown away. I've never made it in early enough for breakfast, so I can only imagine how great it is. The grass-fed beef they use is worth the stop, and they don't charge enough for their burgers (shhhh). Soups are always delicious and dessert is worth knowing you ate too much. Don't miss this place!

Like everyone else, we stopped in here by chance after not seeing much for a long time. According to the menu, they try to buy everything local and organic when possible. In such a remote area, I'm sure it isn't possible all year, but it's quite a surprise in a town this small. Breakfast is served all day and the rest of the menu (at least at lunch) was mostly salads, sandwiches and burgers. Everything we had was good. Like another person noted, they were a little on the slow side (we got our food before the rush), but that's quite understandable with a total staff of three on a busy travel day. I assume that off-days and non-peak times they can be pretty speedy like they were when we first arrived.

The atmosphere here is just right from the friendly greeting and yummy food to the local artwork on display and quick service. We ordered and were served a delicious lunch of fish and chips and tuna salad plate. The fish on both plates was freshly made, the salad greens were a nice blend with freshly chopped vegetables and the poppyseed dressing was sweet and tangy. The fish batter was well seasoned , the fish were two big pieces and the chips crispy fried. Be sure to leave room for pie !

Best meal, fresh and homemade. The best part was the strawberry rhubarb pie!!! It was so good I had to come back in the middle of our camping trip for another piece of pie. The burger was second best, juicy and flavorful on a homemade bun. Definitely stop in if your passing through Saguache!!

We came here on the recommendation of the wizand and whethered lady at the gas station, and I wasn't expecting much. I certainly didn't expect to step straight into 1950s Mayberry. Inside, the 4th Street Diner is adorable. It was 2 ish on a Friday afternoon, and the place was nearly full. It took a few minutes to get a menu, but from there on out the service was friendly and attentive. Wow. Locally raised beef, organic vegetables, homemade bread. And pie!!!! Homemade pastries so decadent it seems almost shameful to smother them with ice cream. No matter how full you get, don't skip the pie. If the 4th Street Diner was in a bigger city, they would have a line around the block most of the day.

So good! Food quality, excellent! Pastry, pies, and yummies, fantastic. Grass-fed (legit, I can taste the difference) beef and local and organic produce, above and beyond. Service, perfect. Due to a mistake I made in ordering, not their fault, they re-made my plate quickly, perfectly and with a smile. Attentive and friendly. We were so full, we took our pie to go for later. This is a hidden gem! We will be back every time we come through the area.

What a great little charmer in the middle of a long day. Central Colorado is just a row of small towns. Where to eat? I found this little place on Sunday midday crowded with locals. I was alone and sat at a little bar near the register. Friendly people, good food, and the deserts. Well, I am not a sweet connoisseur so I can only say what I observed. Nearly everyone was ordering the pie. And the lady who made them has been doing this for quite some time. They looked amazing!! It was not "fast food", and it was a welcome break from a long drive. What a treat.

Yummy American diner in business district on Main Street a few blocks from hwy 285. Our family had burgers, and sandwiches on homemade sourdough. Fun vintage decor and friendly service.

Come for an excellent meal. Stay for the pie. This little gem is tucked away in the tiny village of Saguache. If you don't get off the hwy that bypasses the town, you will miss a delightful meal. Breakfast all day or an organic beef green chili hamburger with all the fixings can be yours. The locals hang out along with a smattering of tourists. The green chili smothered three egg Mexican omelet with breakfast potatoes melts with gentle spiciness at every bite. There are a lot of vegetarian options. The fruit smoothie is sharp and fresh. Everything is organic and mostly local. Once you have filled up on some of the best food this side of the Rockies, walk next door and find a little gem in the eclectic antique store owned by a delightful Manhattan transplant.

Pie is good, and every flavor was great here. We were hungry after a long drive through the incredibly flat alpine valley that leads up to Saguache, and the family needed a place to eat. With nothing on the radar in the area, my mother-in-law found this place somewhere online, so we stopped in. It's a few blocks off the highway, and I was a bit skeptical of what this tiny town might offer, but the word "Bakery" in the title made me think only of the possibility for pie. We finished a great meal of grass fed burgers and sandwiches on homemade bread, then we moved on to the pie. We got three slices for six diners, and they were all gone quickly. Blueberry was my favorite followed by rhubarb strawberry and the chocolate. The blueberry was so good I bought an entire pie to bring to our vacation destination in Crested Butte. There are no disposable pie pans here, so I had to promise to come back on our return trip to give back the pyrex dish. This is the trust you can only get from small town folks. On our return trip a week later, we were happy to stop in for breakfast to take back the empty pie plate. What awaited us was fabulous blueberry and banana pancakes, fresh biscuits and stellar french toast. If I'm ever near this place again, I will find and excuse to get another meal here, and another slice of pie.

This place is SLOW!!!!!! It took over 45 minutes between ordering and receiving our food. The quality was fine, but didn't live up to what the other reviews stated!

We go out of our way to stop here. The food is so fresh, the people so nice, and the bread is INCREDIBLE!!!! You need to eat here. Get a sandwich on sour dough, then buy a loaf to take on the road.

Oh my goodness! What a lovely small town gem. This place has friendly service and yummy food. We stopped in on our way to Durango. The hot cakes are worth the drive from Denver. Holy Moses these fluffy delights are seriously about 6in in diameter and at least an inch and a half thick. My husband and I split two hot cakes and that was more than enough. I will be dreaming of these until our next time through!

Food is absolutely amazing! Must have the breakfast burrito or the burger, both fantastic. What a find this place is, if you are traveling through Saguache, CO you should stop in. Even if it's for a dessert and a cup of coffee. The apple pie and fresh donuts will knock your socks off. You will not be disappointed, and the service is wonderful, very friendly people and nice clean atmosphere as well.

Just the cutest little place in central colorado. Highly deserving of all the positive yelp reviews. The homemade baked goods are really distinguishing and the sandwiches on homemade bread are worth stopping for!

4th Street has only been opened a week and a day as of today. You would think it has been opened forever as Greg and Esther (owners) were easily serving up a great breakfast. I had Esther's favorite omelete with spinach and feta, homefries were delicious, and homemade bread served with local honey. The Husband had french toast with homemade bread. Coffee was always warm, cup full, and they had a sugar canister on the table. 4th Street is easily going to be a local favorite. They serve lunch, cater, and bake some fabulous looking baked goods. According to Greg, "We serve locally grown foods and grass fed beef. Homemade goodness for breakfast, lunch or your favorite bakery items, like freshly made pies, doughnuts, muffins, biscotti. And many daily specials all homemade without processed food." I could not say it any better. Good luck y'all and thanks for a great meal and an update on local town politics.

We have been driving for 4 hours so far, and there has been no real restaurants for the past 2 hours. When we walked in they greeted us warmly, and got us food quickly. The food was amazing, as well as incredibly fresh. The restaurant was also very clean and well kept up.

Wouldn't have found this place or thought to stop in without yelp. Off the main road in the local 'business district'. Good food, good service, nice decor, clean restrooms, all good.

We stumbled upon this place by accident - we were traveling and it was a long time between towns but it was time for lunch. While cruising through town (if you can call it that) we saw nothing on the main street that indicated there were any live residents in town - then we saw a sign with an arrow pointing down a side street that said "downtown." I got a laugh out of that but we turned and at the end of the street was this great little cafe. It was mid-day on a Thursday and there were a few cars out front and we saw folks inside so it must be an okay place, right? What a jewel! We were seated quickly and the iced teas and coffee were delivered just as fast. They have a decent menu with home cookin' type dishes- like our biscuits and gravy and omelets with 'taters and homemade sourdough bread. The service and food were good and I would come back to this place anytime. I would have given it five stars if not for the slow service - and they had good reason to be slow because every table and chair was fully utilized and it looked like there was only one cook trying to keep up with all the orders. The table in the corner had seven people and it took the cook a good long time to get their food out before tending to the other orders. We did not have "room" for dessert but they had a whole array of pies and similar things and if our food was any indication, the pies would also have been great. Maybe another cook or a helper would make it faster - in reality the food was well worth the wait but the big thing to me was the pure luck we had in finding this great little place way out in the middle of nowhere - don't blink - you could miss the whole town. EAT HERE!

Great place to stop on the road, ate lunch here a few months ago during a road trip. Affordable, delicious, quaint, and great service. Had a wonderful grilled cheese with jalapeños and tomatoes on homemade bread with sweet potato fries for under $7. Can't beat that when you are hungry, on a road trip, and there isn't much else around!

Stopped by here after Thanksgiving in Durnago. The food was delicious and the staff was very pleasant. Nice place to hit if you are driving through, and there is a park down the street for the kids. They also have large cinnamon rolls to take on the road, homemade food at its best in small town USA...make this a must stop.

Amazing food hidden in a small town. Traveling from Wolf Creek to Denver landed us here at lunch time. Very lucky for us. Fresh food cooked well. Wonderful bakery items and desserts round off the meal.
