Went for my birthday...and we were all excited. First of all the place was run down and there was slime in the fish tank. My wine glass was cracked and the wine was a cheap white wine for lots of money. We were also really rushed and it was a Tuesday night and not busy and would have liked to linger and enjoy our meal. The chef, though a nice young man, was inexperienced. The food itself was fresh and tasty though he did char some of it...but definitely NOT worth the money. The owner was standing by watching the young chef and it was distracting. The appetizer portion was awful and not worth the money...NO WAY. Good tappan table food but bad experience. Never again.

We haven't been to any other sushi places in Pueblo but, I'm sure, it's a pretty safe bet that Suehiro is as good as it gets. It's in a rather obscure place in the middle of town and there was NOBODY else in the restaurant but we didn't let that discourage us. And it's a good thing. The interior decor is very "authentic" with a really cool looking sushi bar smack in the middle of the place. The were some Teppen-Yaki tables and regular seating. The service was very nice even though we were getting it to go. And, yes, she did ask if we wanted soup and salad. But the FOOD! Exceptional sushi!! The "Koi Roll" had such a fresh flavor of tuna and salmon, along with the avocado, cream cheese, escolar and "kaiware" (a new one for me). Wow! AMAZING good! The "Ichiban Roll" with the tempura crab was equally delicious, as was the scallop roll. Prices are comparable to many other sushi bars we've been to around the western half of the U.S. so I don't understand the comment on disparity about the prices. We'll DEFINITELY be looking for Suehiro the next time we roll through Pueblo.

Excellent service. The cuisine is expertly prepared, very healthy, with lots of vegetables. I have always gone at lunch and it is fast and relaxing to dine there.

I had a very positive experience having lunch this past week. The service was prompt and people were very friendly. The food was excellent. I plan to return again next week with more people.

I had the pleasure of stopping to eat at Suehiro while visiting the area recently for a weekend. I had the Nabeyaki Udon for lunch on Friday and it definitely filled me up and hit the spot. I also stopped by Friday evening, but mostly to drink cold sake though I did manage to eat a complimentary spicy tuna salad appetizer and a few pieces of sushi. I also came back on Saturday evening and had a variety of sushi items along with some tasty Sapporo beer. The service on every trip was very nice. I had a number of conversations with the Japanese owner; Sachiko-san as well as the Japanese sushi chef and the waitresses. They made me feel very welcome and relaxed. I enjoyed everything and would eat here again when in the area as well as recommend it to anyone in the area. Hontou ni oishii katta desu!

great little gem of a place in pueblo, very original and it feels like you stepped into a small rural restaurant in japan. quality of fish is good. the nigiri is fresh and the portions are a good size. we ordered a few rolls including spicy salmon, kamakazi and spider roll. the spider roll was soggy and small, but the others were good. the seaweed salad was a little soggy (i know its soggy to start with but i mean soggier than usual) and lacked that nice crunch a good seaweed salad has. its expensive, i can pay that much at sushi den in denver for a similar sized meal, but considering i am in the desert and denver is 100 miles away, i guess its okay for nice occasions

Suehiro is the definition of great sushi and Japanese food. You can sit at the bar, at one of many tables, or at one of the teppanyaki tables. The teppanyaki tables are the best experience for kids, especially. They get to be entertained by the preparation of their food, and seem to eat better as a result. I wouldn't presuppose that authentic dining requires some sort of racial background, but the owners of this establishment are indeed from Japan. I've had sushi all over the world, including in Japan, and this is my favorite restaurant. The only negative issue I've ever experienced here is with their hired help. They seem to go through employees rather quickly, so you sometimes end up with someone inexperienced.

Enjoyed eating here on a recent trip to Pueblo. Really good sushi, only the service got a little slow when the place got busy with a couple of large groups.

Fresh, quality fish and owners who treat you like family - our favorite place for sushi in Southern Colorado! For the reviewer who said no soup and salad was offered with their roll: we have always been offered both with our meals which are generally sushi only. That reviewer also preferred MoMo because of cost, but every time we have gone there, the sushi was significantly less in terms of quality to the point that the cost savings just didn't make it worth it to us.

Expensive. Not one decent lunch special. $13 for Las Vegas roll and doesn't even come with soup and salad. Server was completely uneducated about sushi and specials. Go to Momo on Santa Fe for $9 rolls with soup and salad.

I really enjoyed the sushi and the staff were extremely friendly and fun! I had had the 10 piece sushi plate and it was very good. The fish was surprisingly good given that it was Pueblo. I have had better sushi in San Francisco but it was about equal to what I have had in DC at a very expensive place. My husband had grilled steak and vegetables and loved it. I took off a star for unpleasant bathrooms. The restaurant is a casual place overall, lots of fun, great food!

I was so surprised at not only the quality of food, but the amazing service offered at this fine establishment. If you live in Pueblo and love sushi, it's a MUST. We actually ordered food to go, being too lazy to get dressed up and go out. When I arrived to pick up our order, I was very surprised. They had actually waited until I arrived to cook it fresh and to make sure everything tasted okay before I paid and left. So, instead of carrying out, we ate in! The waitress and chef made great conversation and the food was OUTSTANDING. They have been open here in Pueblo for 21 years for a reason.

Service was lackluster, the Japanese steak house experience is what you are buying when you attend this restaurant. Our experience was nothing to write home about. The food was over cooked and under seasoned. Definitely will not be returning.
