Nashville recording artist Landon Williams featured his album cover location as the awesome original Passkey Diner. THANK YOU Passkey. You were so hospitable, & the pie was amazing

THE SUPER! The super is the sandwich to get, sure the Passkey special is good, but the super is the absolute best! All three cheese atop a skinny piece of sausage with lettuce and mustard between that delicious sub roll??? YES PLEASE. And to boot those fries? I get the straight feels talking about it! Being a Pueblo native and living there for 24 years this place is a staple in my life! If you're a native, you don't mind the wait, or how this place isn't a gourmet restaurant. You know the wait is worth it and the decor and booths don't matter! That Clydesdale wall light! Nostalgic! Just trust me on this, get a super! Also, please come to Las Vegas, otherwise I'm going to have to move back home! I already have people smuggling me supers when they come to Vegas! Yay!

My husband is from Pueblo, so eating at Pass Key is a tradition every time we are back visiting. I have gone with him many times over the years. Now, we are back with our 6-month baby girl visiting the grandparents, so we have been eating here often. Our daughter has a knack for picking the most inoportune moments to dirty her diaper & it has happened every time we have been at Pass Key (which is several) over the past few weeks. So, you can imagine my disappointment & dismay to find out there is not a changing table in the bathroom of this family restaurant! It really is frustrating to be in the middle of dinner with my family & have to go out into the parking lot to take care of this. I really hope you'll consider updating your bathrooms to accommodate the families that loyally patronize your establishment.

All my friends have been raving about this place. Best sausage sandwich, great chili, great burgers.... Ok, our server was great and unfortunately I didn't get her name. As a matter of fact all the staff seemed happy to be there and the service was great. The food, not so much. I had a sausage sandwich. There was something extremely hard in the sausage and I nearly cracked a tooth. Seriously, 6 hours later I'm still in agony. If it's not better tomorrow, I'm going to have to take a day off work and see the dentist. To add insult to injury, the sandwich just didn't taste all that great. The onion rings were pretty good. One of my friends had a chili dog. He said it was the best chili dog he's ever had. I tried some of the chili. It was very tasty. Also, it was kinda hot inside and there were flies buzzing around all over the place. Well, there you go. I'm glad I came here to eat but I don't think I'll be back.

Came here for the first time because of other reviews. I have to say it wasn't what I was expecting. I got a hamburger which wasn't anything special and my brother got the Pass Key Special which was good but nothing seems to make this place really unique. The chili, I am guessing is homemade and has a little bite to it but needs more flavor, in my opinion. Overall it was okay, but not nearly the experience I was hoping for.

My family and I went here for lunch on a Saturday. we sat at a table, and ten minutes later still no service. we went and asked if anyone could wait on us. 7 minutes later (I timed) still nothing. the servers seemed to be arguing over who's table we were at. We got up and left, without any acknowledge from them still! very sad, we love their food, but they definitely need to step up their customer service.

I had a dream last night that I was with grandpa and after we stopped at the Coors Tavern we drove up to Abriendo to get a Passkeys special Italian Sausage Sandwich. Wow that was like 35-40 years ago and I can still taste the greasy, mustard laden Italian sandwich like it was yesterday. Pure heaven. My kind of dream. All smiles. This is a Pueblo institution, don't believe me ask anyone in P-town where to get a sausage sammy. Sure it may not be a LA or NY 5 star but in Pueblo its a must eat. I gave up grandpa's skeleton key to put up on the wall in trade for a sausage grinder when I was 6 or 7. Yea I got a little history in the original spot. G-ma used to bring me and gramps Passkeys after fishing and I remember even if the fishing was bad the dinner would always be good. These sammys are unique to Pueblo and I've never had the same goodness anywhere else. Don't sweat all that good artery clogging chlosterol. Enjoy this gem. It ain't fu-fu food, its the kind of hearty sandwich my grandpa and thousands of fellow steel workers ate day in and day out. Old school food. You know I'll be hittin' it for a double next time I'm in town. Only wish they had one here in Cali. Miss ya Passkeys. I'm looking for a few like minded (I know your out there) CA transplants that might want to get some passkeys delivered here................

My family and I went here for a late lunch. The restaurant was dirty. The server was not friendly and acted like we were a bother. After we ordered or food the server brought the appetizers but no silverware. Every time she came to the table she didn't even give us enough time to tell her what we needed before she walked away so we had to get up twice to go ask for what we needed. The quality of the food has gone way down hill. The pass key special was really dry and the lettuce was old. When we got the bill it was not legible and it looked as though we were over charged. We took the menu and wrote out a legible ticket and totaled it and we were over charged. When we brought it to the cashier's attention she looked at it and proceeded to tell us that because the psss keys had cheese and fries they were more than the price on the menu. First of all it is not clear on the menu that cheese and fries are extra and second of all when the server took the order she didn't say would you like cheese and fries with that but instead she said what kind of cheese and is fries ok. To me that sounds like it goes with the sandwich. They didn't even apologize out try to make it right. Sad to see such a wonderful long standing family owned and operated establish slip in the quality and customer service they were once known for. It seems like generational establishments deteriorate with each new generation until eventually a family legacy dies and the business closes.

I went here a few years ago with a local friend of mine. I had the pass key special. Well, the sandwich was decent, I mean, nothing to write home about, but I did enjoy it. But holy shit, FLIES. FLIES EVERYWHERE. It was like they were coming to take over. And nobody seemed to give a shit! Including the folks I was with...for some reason. The waitress was a very nice teenager who was doing this as her after school job (most likely). She didn't seem to notice the flies either. I really hope that, a few years later, there aren't so many FLIES. Wowsers.

Okay, so this place needs some explanation. It is iconic in Pueblo. So much, in fact, that it has entered the local language as a noun. When someone refers to a sausage sandwich, they call it a passkey. They might be saying they're going to make themselves a sausage sandwich, but they say they're making passkeys. It's actually kinda cool. With that fact in mind, you can see why locals give this place 5 stars every time. They've been going there since they were little, and it is the definition of a certain kind of dining to them. But that's not helpful to someone from out of town looking for an honest review, people! So here it is. I'll try to be completely honest. I totally LOVE these things! But I love greasy. I love spicy. I totally love a white bun that is grilled in grease and butter. That is honestly what you get. If you get them to go, you'll walk out with a paper bag and get home with a paper bag that is almost translucent with the grease that has emanated from your meal. So if a bun that is somewhat soggy with grease freaks you out, you're gonna hate this place. That's why it can only be successful in Pueblo... because everyone grew up with it and loves it. If you plopped one of these in Boulder, it would be dead in a fortnight. Oh, and it's staffed by old-school Puebloans. Someone from elsewhere might find them odd or rude... when it's more like when you were a kid, eating at a friends' house. Their mom will feed you right up and take good care of you, but won't be taking any crap. ;) Why 3 stars? Because if I gave it any more and someone from out of town went there as a result... I might never be trusted again. ;)

The Passkey Special is the best sandwich on the planet. The fries aren't the best, so upgrade to onion rings. We can't visit Pueblo without stopping at Passkey.

Not impressed at all. Drove through here on a roadtrip to the mountains. I had done some research to find a fun and local place to eat. We arrived at 7:30 and were told the restaurant closed at 8pm...on a Saturday night! So we order some beers and the "famous" sausage sandwich. Behind our booth a couple sits down and says they drove all the way from Denver to experience the PassKey. The server told them the fryers had been turned off and they wouldn't be serving anymore food, this happened at 7:45! My whole group overheard the issue and we were completely shocked by the lack of Customer Service. A few other issues to warn you: - they served my dad a Bud Light with a busted bottle, my dad almost cut his lip taking a drink. - The sausage sandwich is gross. It tasted like a greasy spam sandwich with Mustard. - Chicken Tenders were overcooked and overpriced. - Wasn't even as good as Denny's or Ihop or any other "diner" chain. Save yourself the trouble and skip this joint.

I can see that it is iconic for the area, but I rank it mediocre. Okay food, but nothing unusual.

I would give this place ten stars if I could. The Italian sausage sandwiches are so unique and tasty, nobody can come close to competing against them. Since I was a kid I remember going in and eating here with my parents. I remember going and playing pacman, eating my food, and then finishing with a chocolate mint that they sold at the cash register. The staff are always friendly and are always with a smile. My wife loves going to the location on HWY 50 because of the spaghetti. Disregard any negative reviews on this restaurant. If you're looking for a classic Italian sandwich and fries, then this is your spot! MUY BUENO!!!!

I remember when my sister waited tables at this place back in the early 70's. The original Pass-Key Special is as delicious today as it was back then. Maybe even better because I savor every bite when I come to see my family here in Pueblo, knowing that there's nothing like it where I live.

This review is solely for the Pass Key Special, because there is nothing better in Pueblo than a Pass Key Special. My grandma worked at the original back in the day as a carhop, and getting to take her back her last week while being in Colorado for a funeral was just great. I can't vouch for what it tasted like back then, but my mom still says it's the same from the sixties and seventies. It's just a part of Pueblo, and I can tell that even though I've never lived there and only visited it maybe five times to see family in my short life, but it always persists now that we must get a Pass Key when we go there. Hands down the best sausage sandwich ever. Too bad it's 1,300 miles from where I live at them moment, because I could see myself here every day if I lived in Pueblo.
