Food was not good. Service was slow. Very greasy, beans were horrible. They seem to be trying to capitalize on the other "potrillos" restaurants name, which have great food. This was a far cry from that, super disappointed.

This was the foulest mexican food we've ever had. My Carne Asada burrito had 1 tsp. of chopped steak in it. The refried beans had so much lard, they were white. Our food had cold pockets in it. My husband's cheese sauce was processed cheese. Gordon Ramsey would tell them to shut down forever.

The restaurant was entirely too expensive for what you get. One of our dishes had canned mushrooms.. I had a guacamole tostada.... It looked like something I would have got from del taco. Perhaps if this place was more reasonably priced my expectations would be more substandard

After reading the reviews I guess I can see why they don't expect to have much of a crowd for dinner. But honestly, you would think that on Cinco De Mayo, a Mexican restaurant would staff itself accordingly. We got there around 5:30 and we're seated in a dark dinning with boxes on the table. Correction, shown a table as we requested a table for 7 and were shown a table that had 5 chairs. I thought the hostess had left to get us chairs, but I was wrong, so we went and found two more chairs from other tables. The menus we got were filthy and sticky. They had old salsa dripped all over them. They brought us chips and salsa and the chips tasted like they had been sprinkled with old cooking oil. Three hours later and I can still taste that taste. YUCK! At least 10-15 minutes after we were seated someone finally asked for our drink order. When an additional 10 minutes passed and we could see no one behind the bar making margaritas, we approached one of the servers who told us they were swamped. We watched multiple tables get up and leave without ordering or having anyone wait on them. Roughly around 6:00 we finally received our drinks. A waitress who was very sweet and busting her butt finally came over and apologized to us for the wait. She took the order for our little guys and said she'd be right back. We finally were able to get our order in around 6:25. Food came out quickly but it was not that terrific. I think my taste buds were still messed up from the nasty oily chips. We've visited this restaurant in the past and I would have given it 3 stars in the past however, after tonight I'm not sure we'll be returning. The chips have left a nasty taste in my mouth.

I have had a good experience every time I have eaten here. Friendly staff and tasty food.

Not sure why this got two stars? I was soooooo delicious! It was not that busy when we went on a Friday at 6pm, but oh my goodness all of the food was superb. I had the carne asada, which had a great marinade, and was cooked perfectly. Loved the homemade salsa and chips as well. Great service and nice staff. I will be making the 25minute drive just to eat here again.

I have eaten here more than once. The last time we went in there was no staff to be found anywhere for a good five minutes. I went with my mom and she got the ceviche and chili relleno and I got a bean burrito and chili relleno. The ceviche was really good as usual, and the bean burrito was just a bean burrito. Here is the issue and why I won't be back I love chili rellenos and these chili rellenos this trip tasted like a cigarette ash tray. It was horrible I could not eat it at all. Not to mention how over priced everything was! If you want good Mexican food this is not the place, but check out Las Hadas off of Hamden and Chambers. Never going back here after the horrible rellenos.

This place isn't terribly fancy, but boy is it tasty! Due to the non-fancy nature of the place, we walked right in to a table on Mother's Day. Now I will admit I took my mother out for Mother's Day without a reservation, so bad on me. But my mother chose this place! Nothing too fancy, and the portions don't look huge, but they are definitely filling. Wait staff is very attentive, almost too attentive. But I would much prefer over attentive rather than under attentive. Price was on point for a sit down Mexican joint. Nothing too major to say about it. The only real negative is that the location is kinda hard to find and can't be seen to well from the road. But hey, it was tasty and enjoyable.

Located near some other very good restaurants, I thought this place would be good, but I was wrong. We arrived around 4:30, and found the place empty...no customers and no staff. I peaked around the corner and saw a worker sitting in a booth. He looked at me, and didn't get up. I looked around the bar, and another person was setting up tables, and came over to seat us. After sitting, we asked for happy hour drinks, and only Margaritas and Well drinks were happy hour, no beer. Seriously... beer was not on happy hour. I ordered a happy hour margarita, and others ordered beer (not on happy hour) and we had entrées (not on happy hour). The drinks and food were OK, but the service was lacking. Seriously, only 2 tables with people, and service was bad and slow. When we were done, we presented a coupon that was 50% non happy hour items. We had several, but the waiter told us he can't take the coupon during happy hour. We said we wanted to use it for the non happy hour items, he said he can't give that and happy hour on the same ticket. We asked to spilt the ticket, and he said he couldn't do that. Needless to say, with OK food, bad service and no beer on happy hour, we won't be back. I give it 2 stars because at least the parking lot was nice.

This restaurant was just OK. The flavors were mild and didn't wow anyone in our party. There were only a few tables occupied on our visit but the service was also quite slow.

We should have known by how empty the parking lot was...a little before 8pm on a Friday night... service was great. Restaurant was clean. Food wasn't good.. at all. Everything from the salsa, to the guacamole and entrées were bland. Tamale was horrible. Taco salad had no meat. Only thing that was near decent was the Strawberry Margarita's (on the rocks). Have to say the best feature out of the whole experience was the ashtrays outside in the shape of cowboy shoes!

This Mexican restaurant is good. It's not really good or great, and it's not bad or terrible either. I liked the chips and salsa, and my bean burrito was pretty good, except the cheese on top wasn't great. The others in my group really liked their food. The service was also good, no complaints here. Overall, I'd come back maybe in a couple months. It's not a place I would visit every week.

Our first and last visit about a month ago. I put off writing a review because I don't like being rude. but...I feel guilty not spreading the bad news. First there was no lunch menu. No big deal. My wife ordered enchiladas and they were cold in the middle. I guess they make them in advance and freeze them? I'm not sure what my dinner was called but it had strips of chicken that were undercooked. I say undercooked because they were chewey. We were asked a few times if everything was okay and answered yes. Okay I admit I'm paranoid about ever sending my food back to the kitchen. The kicker was I think we were charged more than what the menu stated. By this time I just wanted to see this place in my rear view mirror. How can this place stay open? lastly, I came home and looked this restaurant up here on Yelp. It was all right here. Memo to self...read Yelp reviews before you go.

If you don't mind a perverted male bus boy coming into the women's bathroom directly after you enter to "clean" unannounced then this is your kind of place! I waited for him to leave before coming out if the stall and When my husband requested to speak to a manager he was brushed off...oh and the food wasn't good either- my husband and I felt like we were chewing on leather instead of carne asda...

We had some extra time and wanted to try this place. It is an old Village Inn, I believe, and I drive by almost daily. When we pulled up, there were only a couple of cars in the lot (Red Robin a block away had a wait list). We walked in and there were only 3 tables with people...My first instinct was to turn and leave, but we were only stopping by for a beer. We didn't have time to actually eat dinner. We were seated at the bar and a very friendly bartender greeted us, made our drinks, and even gave us the remote to the big screen. We then enjoyed some salsa and bean dip with fresh chips. Very good flavor, but... ...something is wrong with the atmosphere. It doesn't feel right. No people, no giggling, no happy sounds...boring. Not sure what the real food is like, but I'm not sure when I'll make it back. .

Had lunch around 2:30 on a Saturday, requested an off menu chicken n bean burrito and my hubby had a combo plate burrito n rellano - pretty good flavor and their salsa is good too. Served promptly and food came out hot. I'd come back again!

We went on a night during playoffs and UFC so the place was pretty empty. The service was fantastic and the food was great! I had something off the light menu and it was awesome....Ask for the homemade Tequila they serve from a hoof. Yep you heard me right. And it's good too.

Food was bland and nothing to come back for also our debit card was cloned by someone at this location. We will NEVER be back.

I was hoping to have a rave review here... sorry. The two stars are for the friendly service and cold beer. The food was not good. I ordered a chili relleno with a cheese enchilada. The rice and beans on the side had an odd flavor that I am still trying to figure out. My kid ordered a grilled cheese sandwich with fries (Yeah, I know... but I wanted to try this place, and he hates Mexican food). His grilled cheese was more like bread and butter with an un-melted American cheese slice. I'll spare you the details of my wife's and other kid's dinner.... in the end, it was $52 for the four of us to eat dinner. Two beers are in that price, plus gratuity, so the real meal price was about $35... still more than should have been paid for the food served. Replace the cooks, slim down the over-sized menu choices, and make some good food!

Ordered take out... Nice atmosphere, clean parking lot, friendly staff. Lightning fast with the order! Everything was just as I ordered and they bagged up the complementary chips and salsa! Located right next the hospital. Bottom line my little patient is a happy camper .... Food was good..

So we had to stop in here just in case it was any thing like Los Dos Patrillos. It. Is. Not. It looks like an old IHOP was given a bar and a Spanish name and BAM! generic mexican restaurant! And it tasted exactly how it looked. Yum... Our waiter was very nice and professional. He checked on us quite a few times but it took me forever to pick out something to eat because their menu had about 200 items on it and they were all pretty much the same thing but with different meat or a different form of tortilla...or just the exact same thing. I decided on some creamy chicken thing with mushrooms because creamy stuff is always the right choice in my world. It didn't taste bad....it just wasn't awesome. It literally tasted like they took cream of mushroom soup, added some sour cream and then put big chunks of chicken in it. Some spice, like green chilis would have been nice...or just about any flavor. The boy got an enchillada....that was pretty much a smothered burrito...that was pretty much just a burrito with a little bit of canned green chili on top. Again not BAD just super whatever. The best part were the sopapillas and my mango margarita. The drink was super run of the mill but anything with liquor that I can drink is AWESOME. And it really is hard to mess up sopapillas but these were pretty good. Prices sucked. $13 for my cream of mushroom surprise. Two meals, one marg. and a plate of sopapillas were $40. YUP, this makes it on to the thanks but no thanks list.

This place must be a front for the cartel! How else have they been open for this long??????? Please, please, please stay away from this disgusting disaster! They water everything down I guess to make things go further. The Queso was watered down (and burned), the salsa was watered down, the black beans had zero flavor. I ordered a chicken chimichanga and it was flavorless....even the replacement SUCKED! May be it would be a good place if they didn't take the cheap route with their food but they need Mexican cooking lessons. Where is Chef Ramsey when you need him!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Kristen N.

Absolutely, positively the WORST meal I have ever had, not to mention incredibly over priced. Margaritas were nothing more than sprite and a splash, if even, of tequila followed by enchiladas mole that weren't even the right color or texture of a true mole sauce. We gave this place a shot thinking it would be similar to our favorite Mexican restaurant, Los Dos Portillos, it is not! DO NOT let the name fool you! How this place is still in business is beyond me......

So my expectations were not high based on previous reviews. They were averaging 2 stars - why go, you say? I'd thought that I would see it for myself. Since it wasn't as horrible as I thought it might be based on other reviews I'm kicking them up to 3 stars. There were 10 cars in the parking lot when we arrived and only 3 tables seated in the whole dining room. The thought in my head was turn around and run out the door but I fought off the urge and we asked for a table for two. We were seated immediately. The decor was clean but something out of 80s Mexican Restaurant. Robert Irvine and Restaurant Impossible would have had a hay-day with redoing the decor. Although other than the carpet being ugly they might not have needed to replace it. Overall the restaurant was very clean. Our waitress was very pleasant and quick to take our order. The menu is huge and the prices seemed just a tad high. She did some drive-by check ins. As she was taking other people's order or dropping off their food she would quickly walk by our table and ask if everything was okay. I guess when you do that and don't give the people a chance to actually answer the question there can't be anything wrong. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and was easy gong on the substitution requests. My dining companion ordered the Chicken taco salad and it looked okay. I ordered the Trio caballas (the Three Horses) - it had grilled chicken breast, carne asada, and lean bacon wrapped shrimp, it also came with beans and rice but I subbed out the rice for cole slaw. My dinner was okay. The chicken could have used some spices as it as cooked okay but not a lot of flavor. The carne asada and shrimp were okay. The Cole slaw was a Mexican Cole slaw and was nicely done. The beans right in the middle. So over all I've better (Casa Mariachi right down the street) and I've had worse. Will I go back - probably not. As there are many other places that I would prefer to eat. Would I recommended it to someone else - there are other places that I would send them first.

Had dinner here the other night with my wife, mother, and 2 children ages 2 and 3. To start, we had a party of 5 and when we put our name on the list, we were not quoted any wait time. In the meantime many other parties of 2 and 3 were seated long before they had a table for us. I understand that it is easier to seat smaller parties but 30 minutes later we were finally led to our table. They had actually pushed 2 tables of 4 together. It seems it would have been much faster and easier to add an extra chair on the end of one table and get us seated. Once we were seated we received the complimentary chips and salsa which I have to say was tasty. It was at least another 5 full minutes before we had anyone else approach the table for drink orders. The children's meals are all $5.00 and up and do not include drinks so we all ordered water.

Oh god, how do you fuck up a chile relleno? Well, somehow I managed to get two that weren't even half filled with cheese, the chile had no flavor and the cheese was not even melted in the middle. WTF? The chile sauce on the rellenos was nothing special and the guac on the top of them was just bad. This is what I get for trying something different on the menu... I'm sooo sorry to whoever came to this place based on my previous rec! My stomach hurts.

Way over priced for "so-so" food. Taco salad is about the size of a small dinner salad, just three times the price. Dinner for three (no alcohol) was over $40. The 3 Portillos in Littleton is far better. This place is in an old Village Inn and it shows. Staff is "OK" but nothing to brag about. Over all a poor dining experience. The ONLY reason you will see people in this place is because there is so little to choose from in Parker. One trip to 3 Portillos is going to be the first AND the last!! If you are looking for GOOD mexican food at a reasonable price go to Las Delicias on Main street. Taco bell is just down the street and it's food is 1/10 the price and just as good.

  • Andrina S.

The food was ok. The service was horrible. There were two tables seated in the entire restaurant and it still took a long time to get drinks, then get our order taken and then to get our food! The kids food (chicken nuggets and a grilled cheese) looked like they scrambled to find something in the back of the freezer that was passable. It wasn't. The adult food was pretty good, but not worth going back.

Great service, good food. Took me a few tries to find something on the menu I really liked, their burrito chile colorado is great though. Good sopapillas for dessert too.

This place is awful. Just plain awful. We've tried it 3 times. (Man...we sound like suckers). The service just SUCKS! Every time we've tried it, we sit for like 40 minutes waiting for our food...and it's NOT busy in there! We spend like 2 hours in this place....it's just irritating. I guess we had to verify the badness of it before posting a poor review. Anyway....Food: Sucks. The Black Bean Soup I ordered my second time there was so salty I couldn't eat it. I tried because I was hungry and it took like 35-40 minutes for the food to come out....but it was soooooo salty it was giving me a stomach ache..literally. I was afraid to order something else for fear of spending 3 hours there. I finally did speak up and the new food I ordered...sure enough, took about 20 minutes to come out. I can not figure out for the life of me if they are having sex in the walk in frige...or just don't give a crap if the food ever gets to the table. The food is pretty flavorless. We've finally learned our lesson. It wasn't just a bad day for the wait staff or cooks. It's verified...it just SUCKS all the time. I am sorry to post such a bad review....but maybe it will save someone from wasting their time and money and find a more pleasant dining experience.

It's not terrible, service was somewhat slow however the food was good and portions large. Had the rellenos and they probably weren't stuffed like they should have been. Had enchiladas, tacos, chalupas, all we're good. Atmosphere is almost cafeteria feel.

Located in the old Village Inn property, the decor is an odd mix of leftover corporate etched glass and hastily carved horse head booths that are entirely too short for the average person. I'll give them credit for the really great "Original Margarita," though oddly served in a bar shaker with an oh so tiny little glass. The only reason they rated above one star. Sadly, the drink was the best part about the meal. The dry rice and burnt tasting frijoles refritos with entirely too much lard were some of the worst I've had, although much less shiny than the Los Volcanes beans the last time I ate at one of them. The Tomatillo sauce on my Seafood Chimi was bland and uninspiring. My wife's Pollo dish was equally bland and sad looking, awash in a sea of runny beans and yellow rice. The washed out pictures of food we've all seen on Mexican menus was perhaps a bit too literally well represented here. We won't be repeat customers, I'll continue to take my business to Guadalajara.

The crane asada is awesome. the people are nice. The booths are extremely uncomfortable. The bar looks like a bad acid trip. I like the salsa here too, not cilantro overload like so many other places.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
