We went on a recommendation. Ordering was awkward. I wanted the avocado turkey sandwich on gluten free bread. The woman at the register said they were out of the GF bread and then made a snarky comment that "it's really just a fashion statement anyway". Then tried to backup and say it's only understandable if you have "celiac or something". I have an autoimmune disease that can be badly affected by gluten. I was uncomfortable having to justify my choice and just got it with regular bread. Then they didn't have any of the sides offered (pasta salad, coleslaw or potato salad) except the garden salad. We waited at least 20 minutes for our two sandwiches to be ready. Lastly, my sandwich didn't even have the sprouts listed as an ingredient in the sandwich. Overall it was a disappointing experience.

We stayed at the Matterhorn Motel and breakfast at this deli was included. I paid for an extra egg: they forgot it. The bacon was fake stuff, and the nastiest crap I ever placed in my mouth. The toast was dried bread, and there wasn't anything to put on it. My friend had one of their homemade donuts and took only one bite. Stay away from this place.

I should not have chosen the pulled pork sandwich. Neither my husband nor I enjoyed it at all and I cannot recommend it. Pulled pork means fork-shredded strands of pork to me, and these sandwiches had pieces of meat (and accompanying connective tissue) as big as chicken thighs. The BBQ-like sauce did not add much taste and the meat/sauce needed salt. I also ordered the garden salad, which was a very nice salad and very fresh with a large variety of fresh lettuces and other veggies included. At 1:20 pm, when I ordered this food, they were already out of the house salad dressing (a basil pesto vinaigrette which I was dying to try). Since the salad was fine, I'd have given 3 stars if I could have had the dressing I wanted.

Nice location right in the main highway. Avocado sandwich was good, no sprouts as menus says, not great. Service was bad, the guy practically threw/ dropped the food on our table. Had to ask for silverware.

GREAT macaroni and cheese burger and great service! Only reason I didn't give it five stars was because the diet coke was kinda flat and my husband and I are diet coke snobs... Otherwise great place for a quick lunch when you're hungry! :)

Extremely friendly owners, very good sandwiches, and delicious dessert. My wife had the club, and a chocolate cake, I had a donut, and a turkey bacon avocado. Everything was scrumptious, fresh bread and vegetables, home made cake, and donuts, this place is the best! The first place to really have a conversation with us and they even gave us the cake for free (being our honeymoon they were nice) and were friendly as can be. Best lunch in Ouray

I stopped in for breakfast, after seeing the "homeade donuts" (btw, not sure if they meant to say "homemade" and was misspelled?) regardless, the additional smell of bacon lured me in. They do in fact have home made donuts.,they looked tasty, but also heavy. I opted for the breakfast- two eggs easy over, hash browns, toast and bacon. I asked for eggs over easy and "crispy" bacon, adding to just about burn it. No floppy, chewy bacon for me. Eggs arrived perfectly cooked, although one egg had broken and the yolk was dripping out (a travesty), and the bacon was floppy (a miss in my book). Hash browns were just ok (hot sauce improved them). With coffee, it totaled 11.00. You order at counter and they bring it out to you, but basically you eat in a sitting area- no wait service. Lots of other places in town to try for breakfast. Can't speak to their lunches.

Ate breakfast here twice and lunch once. Their menu doesn't list everything that is available. Very good breakfast burrito in a homemade tortilla with homemade salsa. Great. Wonderful waffle with strawberry compote. Great blueberry pancakes. They'll make you an omelet to order though not on the menu. Need to cut up the stuff in the omelet more and maybe not put so much. However, the omelet was very good. Nice selection of bread choices as well. Lunch turkey bacon avocado sandwich was delicious! Didn't try the fried chicken. These folks have the potential to make this deli a hot-spot. They need to better advertise their breakfast, expand their menu, and be sure everyone is aware of what they offer.

Pretty good lunch spot. Enjoyed the views of the canyon wall from the front patio, our dog sat next to our table under some bushes. A bit disappointed that they didn't have fried chicken, which, judging from other reviews isn't a first. Very friendly staff, quality ingredients. Enjoyed my cobb salad, and rest of my group enjoyed pulled pork and reuben. Oh, and homemade donuts, nuf said.

Avocado, turkey and bacon on bread? Yep, they rock that!

This was a good lunch option, though as stated in many reviews, we went for the fried chicken and it was not available, they also ran out of hamburger meat as soon as we arrived so we had sandwiches and an ice cream desert. I thought it was kinda pricey for sandwiches but the BLT I had was delicious! Hopefully they get their Fried Chicken game going or remove it from their sign.

This place deserves ZERO stars (negative, if they had them). Menu was weak, service was slow, food mediocre, but even worse... The owner PUNCHED A CUSTOMER in the face, right in front of me (and my young children). Way to go, pal. That's great customer service.

Service deserves 5 stars Food deserves a 4.3 This is our second time in Ouray and we found Timberline just by driving through town. We took advantage of the nice day and outdoor seating. The atmosphere was awesome. The staff was very nice and was helpful. It's a "pay at the counter then wait for your food and they bring it to you" type of place. When the guy at the counter found out that it was our one year anniversary, he gave us a free dessert. My wife and I shared the box canyon burger and the avocado delight sandwich. Both were really good. The sandwich had a little too much cheese for my taste, but that was minor. The fries that came with the burger were fantastic. After we sat down and began to eat, the owner kept checking in with us to make sure we were happy with our meal. It was great service. We will definitely come back when we are in town.

I was walking down Main St in Ouray looking for a cup of coffee about 6:15am and was happy to find that Timberline Deli was open (the only place I found open). The owner was very friendly and happy to talk to me about what's going on in Ouray. As it turned out, we were staying at the Matterhorn Inn and our reservation included breakfast at Timberline. So I got my wife and came back to get our breakfast. I ordered the breakfast sandwich and she ordered the French toast. The sandwich was huge - two eggs with layers of ham and cheese on an English muffin. I was disappointed that they didn't have sausage, as I originally ordered, but it was a really good and filing sandwich. My wife liked the French toast. It was made from Texas size toast and had a good touch of cinnamon but was not too sweet. Overall, we were very happy with our breakfast and will return to Timberline Deli when we're back in Ouray.

A local lady recommended this place when I said I was looking for a super fresh salad. When you walk in you might think that they serve stock food items but everything is homemade here - except the salad dressing. Freshly chopped turkey and delicious freshly cooked bacon with fresh chopped greens, feta and delicious tomatoes. The server was so dang sweet and I started looking at all the incredible baked goods when I left but I thought I would just leave a good thing alone. They also serve burgers and I'm sure they are just as fresh as the salad. Thanks for the tip local lady! Yum!

We were in the mood for a good sandwich and so decided to give this place a try. I had the Reuben which was served on swirled Rye bread with Russian dressing. It was absolutely fabulous and I know a good Reuben when I eat one because I eat them almost everywhere! They also have very good fries. I cannot remember which sandwich my boyfriend got but he enjoyed it as well. They were a little bit slow - I think we wait about 20 - 25 minutes for our food - so they might need to pick up the pace a little. But I have to say it was worth the wait. I would suggest a little more marketing as well. I didn't even know the place was there but my bf had spied it on the way to Telluride the day before and said we should try it. Had he not seen it and said so - we wouldn't have even known it was there.

Phenomenal hamburger. Fried chicken was not on the menu today unfortunately. Have to come back!

Yum, yum and did I say yum? I am not a sandwich person. But in my line of work, sometimes you need portable food, and a sandwich is usually a good bet. So sometimes, we go put an order in at the Timberline Deli, pick it up a little while later and then have our lunch on the go in the mountains. My favorite sandwich I've had was the ham and scallion cream cheese, served on a bagel. It was fresh and delicious, and the cream cheese was awesome. The Chicken Salad sandwich is also very good. No fruit or nuts in the chicken salad (which makes me very happy), just lots of chickeny goodness. And these sandwiches are big! The service can be a little slow when there are a lot of people in the Deli. No problem, they can have your order waiting for you a little later if you don't need it right away. Good job, Timberline!

Had the breakfast options provided by a hotel in town (3 days). Service, food and ambience are all good to very good. Food is made to order by the 1-2 persons onsite so it takes awhile to receive it, but just plan on that in your schedule.

My husband and I recently spent a week in Ouray. I went here to "grab a quick lunch" and take it back to our hotel and it took over 30 minutes to get our food!! Also, once they gave it to me, our bag was missing 1/2 of the order! The people were really nice (which was a major change from the rest of the people in Ouray), and the food was okay. I ordered the jalapeño burger for my husband. It comes with a spicy "devil sauce", and he really enjoyed it. For myself, I ordered the kid's chicken finger plate and it wasn't good at all. I wouldn't go back. The people are nice, but the food is extremely overpriced and waiting 30 minutes for a to-go order is crazy!

Went here for lunch and they were out of their Fried Chicken they were also out of PB&J that my 5 yr old wanted. I settled for a BBQ sand. It was pretty bad. I've had better food in a truck stop. Maybe their fried chicken is worth it. I won't be back.

Great deli located in a great mountain town. I had their patty melt and it was delicious - melted cheese dripping out of the rye bread and a perfectly cooked patty topped with grilled onions.

It looks like a nice deli with porch looking out on a beautiful town. Hiding inside is great pulled pork and fried chicken. Go there if you are in town.

This place is terrible! It looked harmless enough from the exterior, with a nice terrace where we could sit with our dog and enjoy the view. The menu was pretty boring and limited. My husband chose a simple chicken sandwich, the kids; mac and cheese with fries and I chose half a club sandwich and a cup of potato soup. We went up to the counter to order and were met by a very indifferent and unhelpful man. After waiting for at least 30 minutes, we got our food. The first thing I was dissapointed to see, was the kids mac and cheese. It is a pet peeve of mine to go to a restaurant and pay $6 for box mac and cheese. If you are going to call yourself a restaurant at least make the effort to boil some pasta a make a cheese sauce. My husbands chicken sandwich had a chicken breast which was cooked about 2/3, raw in the center, our dog enjoyed that. My sandwich was by far the worst. I took one bite and realized I tasted no bacon. During my bacon search I found no bacon, but I did find a nice dead fly enbedded in my turkey. Our dog enjoyed that sandwich also. Finaly I turned to my cup of potato soup, suspiciously I took one bite and was met with a small piece of potato surrounded by pasty white glop. The kids had to share theirbox mac and cheese with fries with their starving parents. I decided not to complain for 2 reasons. The man at the counter still seemed indifferent and unhelpful and I did not want them to offer me any more of their food, our dog was full
