I live in Thornton, but the hubby and I will occasionally drive up to Longmont to indulge in a Five Guys burger craving. We've only tried the burgers and fries (they also have hot dogs). The burgers come in two sizes - small and regular. The small is big enough for me, and also big enough for my husband. We've never ordered the regular-sized burger. You can order the burger with bacon, which is a plus (and the bacon is very tasty). You're also able to choose from a decently-sized variety of toppings (all of which are free): mushrooms, carmelized onions, lettuce, tomato, jalepenos, and more stuff that I can't remember (the BBQ sauce is pretty darned tasty). The burger is fried (which I actually prefer in a fast-food restaurant). These burgers are quite tasty, and I believe they're better than the one In-and-Out experience I had this summer in California. The fries aren't bad. If it's just you, or you and a friend, order the regular size (don't go large). A regular-sized order of fries will get you a soda-sized cup filled with fries, and then they dump a bunch more fries in on top of that. I think the fries could be seasoned a little better, but maybe we should just try their cajun variety. You can tell the fries are fresh (they post a sign on where the potatoes came from). They're also cut with the skins on. Beware if you're afraid of grease. When they dump the extra fries on top of your wrapped burger, the grease starts soaking through the paper bag. However, if you're considering going here, I doubt you were planning on staying on your diet for the day. Don't go to Five Guys if you have any sort of peanut allergy. They use peanut oil in their food, and there are buckets of free peanuts in the restaurant to munch on while your food is being prepared.

My first visit to Five Guys was Thursday night. We were able to step right up and order our food even though the place looked crowded. I was pleased to see the vast array of toppings for the burgers; mushrooms, fried onions, peppers, etc. There was a sign that says "all burgers are cooked well done." Being a medium-rare person, I sucked it up. It only took about 10 minutes for our food to be ready. I must say I was pleased with the burger as it wasn't oozing with grease. In fact, it was totally grease less but not dry. The fries were the same, plump and tasty, no grease. Service and food was excellent so I'm giving them 5 stars!

If you are even slightly allergic to peanuts this place is a pretty risky. Not only are all the fries fried in peanut oil, but they also have open containers of peanuts so you can munch. Unlike In N Out they do have a ton of different toppings like caramelized onions and mushrooms. I was also really excited that they offer bacon!! When I went to order I first went with a bacon burger without the burger, but was corrected that it is a "veggie burger with bacon." Their fries also could have been a little more crispy, but they were made from fresh potatoes and it had a cute little sign stating where they came from. In their arsenal of fountain drinks they offer Peaks Tea. No waiter service, you order your food sit at a table and nibble peanuts until they call your number and then you grab your paper bags and sit at the table. And it is an upbeat fun place so the workers were all really cheery and the music is pretty loud. So if you're looking for a quiet place to eat and talk, this is not the right place.

All I heard about was this place and how great it was when it first came to Longmont.... It's not as great as everyone says it tastes like any other burger that's not fast food...but it will satisfy your craving for some ground beef. It's average

Atmosphere - good, fun, loud, energetic employees. Ordering - Line was long, hard to spot where it began/ended, but moved quickly. Cashier was quick, order came accurate. Food quality - Burger, meat was good, thick and juicy, lettuce was gross, bun was average. Fries - ?? I wouldn't even say they were average... Maybe it was because they were busy, I will go back again to give them another go. But mine were cold, not completely cooked in the middle. Other locations, people have mentioned in the review that Five Guys is "comparable to In-N-Out. No. Although the patties are smaller at In-N-Out - you get a full meal for less than $6. I ordered a cheeseburger, small fries and large drink at Five Guys - total was $10.38. Not exactly comparable price-wise. And lets talk about the fries....At In-N-Out - the potatoes come in whole, and are sliced in the store right before being put in the fryer. Not so at Five Guys. Not even close to comparable. So - don't go to Five Guys with an expectation of In-N-Out. The decor might make it look similar, but it isn't the same. **Edit** So I stated above that the potatoes aren't sliced in the store. I guess I was wrong about that, I apologize. I still haven't had a chance to go back and give their fries another go.

Pretty good burgers, tasty hot dog, ok fries (and that's the whole menu). I really like my burgers cooked rare, so for a fast-food burger my favorite is still Fuddruckers.

This was my first visit to Five Guys...first thing that struck me was the upbeat service I received...i had a bacon cheese burger and ff ...the burger was sloppy and greasy...in other words, perfect. The fries were overfilled in the serving cup (another plus)...overall a great job.

I was swayed by the flags on Main Street and the big "Grand Opening" sign up front, and because I felt like a burger. Loved the open kitchen and the workers shouting things and the music pumping through the speakers. Also loved the complimentary peanuts. You order pretty much from scratch, adding whatever toppings you want to four "template" burgers: hamburger, cheeseburger, bacon burger, bacon cheeseburer. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with ketchup, grilled onions, lettuce, tomato, and pickle. There was a slight wait (five minutes or so) but the food is worth waiting an hour for. I could see where people would complain about the bun, which falls apart a bit, but I don't mind a messy burger. And my burger was otherwise amazing. The portions are quite large; the number of fries (which are second only to Good Times on my list) are insane even in a "regular" portion, so there's no need to get a large. In short, heaven in a brown paper bag.

Burgers were made like this at home when I was a kid. What's the fuss?? Greasy hamburgers with a side if cheap potatoes= expensive!

The hype exceeded the experience. Everyone compared it to in-and-out and I don't know why. It was just a greasy little burger squished inside of some foil with too many greasy fries haphazardly thrown in the bag. The grease soaked the bag and I was afraid to put it on my car seat for the short drive home. They have a sign that proudly tells you where the potatoes for the fries come from. It said they were from some small town in Idaho. They post this like it's special but aren't just about all potatoes from some small town in Idaho? If you want a cheap, fast, quality burger just go to Goodtimes.

Not impressed. I expected a big fat juicy burger. Instead the burgers are two thinner patties cooked and slapped together in a bun, albeit with a bunch of toppings of your choosing. Its a mess to eat. I think a double Whopper at BK is about the same, but tastier since it is cooked over a flame. French Fries are colossal in size, much more than anyone ought to eat. Website says its two servings. Also, while they are proud of cooking the fries in peanut oil, the oil imparts a distinct, unusual, and to my taste buds, unpleasant taste. All that and a regular drink for ~$11. No bargain. I'm sure the food+ atmosphere in the store does not have Red Robin shaking in their boots.

First visit here and it was great! Grace was particularly helpful in helping me find my way through the menu and free peanuts? Can't beat it. I'll be back next time I'm in town.

Not sure why a few reviewers considered this place worth one or two stars. Five Guys is exactly a burger joint, no more and no less. Service is fast and efficient and the burgers big and semi-greasy- the way they ought to be. Today was my first visit- although there were a lot of people here, I was able to place my order right away. The burgers were the perfect heart-attack in a bag sort of meal. Generously sized, well prepared....when you are in the mood for a big ol' greasy burger; this is the place to go. And the fries...the fries...where to start? They clearly started life as a potato; and have never seen a freezer. They are big, and cooked in peanut oil; as if that makes the gazillion calories from the hamburger all better. These may be the best fries I've had in a very long time, perhaps second only to the seasoned fries at Ollie's Trolley (in No.VA ). Never thought I'd complain about this, but they give you a LOT of fries....we ordered two large servings, and couldn't come close to eating all of the fries (and our burgers). This is NOT Frasca...come here expecting a good burger experience, and you'll be a happy camper. If you come here expecting fine dining, you'll be sad (except maybe for the fries!).

Finally, a Five Guys in Longmont! The fact it's three blocks from my house makes me want to give it one star because it is particularly dangerous. I agree with the people who have pointed out that comparing Five Guys to more upscale eateries is unfair. It's a grab-and-eat place. Their service is fast to me for a place that makes everything to order then and there without a bunch of pre-made food sitting under heat lamps. Ick. Okay, so they don't make the best burgers in the world but they are pretty darn good, especially for the price. In addition to the above average burgers I think their kosher hot dogs are dynamite. Split and cooked flat on the griddle so they are a bit drier and hot as greasy or chewy as regular hot dogs. Definitely a win. You can tell that the french fries were once a potato and the peanuts are great for me: They keep both my mouth and my hands busy while I wait for my order.

Can you give this place a 5+... First found this place in Charleston and I looked up the locations and I was amazed that we have one here in Longmont. Folks on the West Coast have In-n-Out; we've got 5 Guys Burgers and Fries. They are almost equally good but 5 Guys lets you choose from a slew of toppings and they don't charge for them...nice! Sooooo I have to say 5 Guys is better. Oh, and let's not forget the tasty peanuts (no charge as well). If you enjoy a good burger, this is the place for you. They also have hot dogs but I haven't tried them.

dont care much for this place...small burgers.....bad fries....i got a double meat bacon cheeseburger and was still starving.....the burger is tasty but it lacks something (probably in the seasoning area)....its better than your regular fast food burgers but in my opinion find your nearest Fatburger and im sure you will prefer them

Updating my review - I am now a big fan of Five Guys in Longmont. The service is impeccable - they get my order right every single time and it doesn't take forever like other chains in town (or Five Guys Boulder). The food is always fresh (it's still fast food), and hits the spot if I'm craving a burger and fries.

I like the burgers and hot dogs but really wish they would cook the fries a little more so the had some crisp on the outside.

Best burger in Colorado. The hot dogs are nothing special, but what kind if DB would rate a burger place on a hot dog???

I'm not entirely clear why people want to compare Five Guys to other restaurants with more varied menus, waiters, etc. Five Guys is what it is - an excellent burger that is freshly prepared to your specific desire. The fries are good if you like the homestyle-type of fry - fresh potatoes that are cut and fried on-site. That's it, there is no more - if you want a quick fresh burger & fries, you should not be disappointed here. If you're looking for more than that, you probably will be disappointed. FYI - there is a Chipotle right next door if someone in your party isn't so happy that you need to satisfy your craving for a burger.
