A great breakfast spot. Green chile is really good like everyone said. The sausage gravy was also really good. Our waitress was the best. Drinks were always full, she was conversational, and gave us good tips for things to do while in town. Definitely go for breakfast. My friend got a pie to go -- lemon crunch. That's what they said was the best

I love this place! Let's be honest, if you're looking for 5 star dining this is definitely not the place to go. My boyfriend and I frequent here because it's close to our house and inexpensive. I've tried many dishes - the south of the border skillet, fried cod, pork chops, ribeye steak, pancakes, and pie. The mashed potatoes aren't great but palatable. The veggies are peas and carrots that have been previously frozen and the boiled. Pretty gross really. The service is usually decent. These ladies work hard since the restaurant is always busy. Sometimes it takes awhile for the waitress to take our order but they're always polite. Normally this would all add up to a 3 star review but their breakfast takes the cake! Plus their menu is so diverse everyone will find something they like.

Is Aunt Alice's an exemplary restaurant pushing the borders of culinary possibility? No, and that's exactly why it's great. I've been coming here for years, and I'm not trying to damn them with faint praise - it is always what I want it to be. I've never had my coffee cup get empty here, food shows up hot and fast, and even when there's a line around the building the staff is friendly and attentive. I'm sure there are restaurants, in Longmont even, with fancier breakfasts or more exciting decor, but that's not always what you need. If you want a hot breakfast, and a hot cup of coffee? Come here.

Meh. It's ok. For some reason there seem to be no amazing diners here in Northern Colorado, which is very disappointing. Alice's is mediocre at best. Agree with the person that said it tastes like hospital cafeteria food. I am sure most of it is out of a can/pouch/Sysco. The pies aren't even that good, though they look it. The food here is cheap and old people seem to like it, though.

It's a lot like Denny's. They are a 50's diner. I ordered breakfast. The eggs were done perfectly. I really like that they have real butter instead of that plastic crap. My husband ordered the fish and fries. The fish was thinly battered; more fish than breading. The fries were yummy too. They were actually potato wedges rather than fries. The brewed iced tea was good; not watered down. The cole slaw was too sloppy. The tarter sauce was too sweet. The place was really busy too. We would go back again.

The best bar none breakfast at every facet we have had since the last time we had breakfast here. I just wish they were closer. They prove you do not have to have pots on the table to serve hot Fresh coffee. Price was the best. Quality & quantity of food is great. Service is the best & the tunes are the top of the mtn. On a 5 star rate they are 6+.

We just and up with the perfect breakfast! I think you should add it to the menu... :) one French toast, 2 strips of bacon, and a cup of fruit. Mmmmm... Pretty please?

Your basic diner/comfort food/locals type place. A huge menu. If you can't find something you like, you're not hungry. Breakfast all day. Excellent deserts. Our favorite if the carrot cake.

This place is surprisingly good. It's down home cookin' served with a smile. Nothing is too great, but nothing is bad either. The smother beef and bean burrito is good. The green chili was surprisingly good. Too mild, but they have Cholula hot sauce. I love that stuff. The burgers are pretty basic. I like them though. The Reuben is a little light. The flavor is there though. The breakfast burrito is really good. I get an extra egg. The breaded pork chops were great. I loved the sage dressing and gravy. It's a huge portion too. The meat loaf was okay. Not great. Kind of a weird texture. Huge portion. The servers are always friendly and attentive. Nice place

Really enjoyed the restaurant. Great food and super friendly service! We ordered a wide variety of food and everything was excellent.

I've been frequenting Aunt Alice's for years with my dad and his GF, anytime I come to visit. It's one of those divey/local/quick-and-cheap breakfast spots I always insist on visiting. Don't mistake my family-based nostalgia for the reasoning behind my 4-star review. What really gets me going about Alice's is the food and the prices, not to mention our "regular" waitress and our "regular" busser, both of whom are wonderfully efficient and don't skip any beats when it comes to order accuracy, table clearing, etc. I don't quite understand why one would choose a chain like Perkin's or Coco's over Alice's - not only do you support a mom-and-pop at Alice's but IMHO the variety of menu items, the quality, the cleanliness, and the healthily busy tables are far superior to any breakfast chain/diner. If you're into a Colorado-style breakfast of pork green chile over eggs or huevos rancheros with pinto beans and more of that AWESOME pork green chile, you will be happy here. The coffee is also surprisingly good for a turn-and-burn diner - not watery or weak. You can easily get out of here at under $10 per person, no problem. Plus, if you really want to break your waistband and potentially bruise your pride, you can always go for the $20 BIG DADDY 96-ounce burrito challenge, which apparently is do-able but not for the faint of heart (or stomach). Even if you aren't down for the "Man vs Food" challenge, their normal-sized breakfast burrito is really delicious! Don't be put off by the almost-always busy atmosphere; this diner turns tables extremely efficiently (without making you feel rushed) and you'll be seated fairly quickly. It's also convenient that you can pay at the cash register up front, so you don't have to wait for your server to make change or return with your credit card. Big parking lot, easy to find location fronting Main St., great people-watching, and good homemade pies, too!

We've tried this diner a few times now, but frankly, there are just too many better places in Longmont. The building - feels a lot like Denny's, large and comfortable but definitely outdated. The staff - very friendly, but two of three visits the order was wrong. They corrected it quickly. The food - pretty good breakfast, but everything else really feels like hospital cafeteria food. I'm not sure what is made fresh, but feels like a lot of pre-prepared or canned. The kids - kids meal pretty standard, fair price. My kids didn't care for it much, although they did eat most of their orders. The pies - looks are deceiving! We bought three for an outing, they looked amazing. Sadly, they were pretty tasteless and none of them were finished. Pricey for average baked goods. Summary - for our dollars, we prefer going a few blocks south to Goodfellas. Similar pricing, better food.

OK so if you're looking for a mom-n-pop diner, this is it. Decent home cooked meals at a cheap price. I found the wait staff to be awesome, very friendly and outgoing without being obnoxious. Obviously a lot of regulars dine here and those that were familiar were addressed by name. Had the chicken fried steak, which was awesome! The gravy was a little on the sweet side, not sure what that was about. It wasn't bad, just different. Huge portions. I will definitely have to try the breakfast since so many wrote reviews for breakfast and really liked it. I will go back for that quick diner home cooked meal feeling.

I loved this breakfast place! It has an old school mom and pop shop feel to it and it dodges the chain restaurant feel bullet. The sausage patties are as big as your face! Haha and super tasty. The wait staff is great. Quick. Short. To the point. Not overly friendly not rude or mean either though. I liked my breakfast burrito a lot. I'd recommend it!! Great place!

I've been in here a couple times and have left disappointed each time. Don't get me wrong, the service is okay, the prices are decent, and the decor is fitting for a mom and pop diner, but the food is gross. As someone else's review mentioned, it does give off kind of a truck stop vibe. Everything is really greasy and heavy. If you want a great breakfast or lunch with friendly service in Longmont, check out Mac's Place instead.

I live around the corner and have yet to eat there and not have a delicious meal. Try the biscuits and gravy. Pancakes are awesome too.

  • Nick D.

Breakfast burrito was very good but everything else seemed meh to me. Normal breakfast food like eggs and hash browns were very plain and unexciting The hamburger that was ordered was very plain and on toast not a bun Food is ultra greasy

  • Brooke D.

The bacon here is awesome! We usually have breakfast here, but I remember coming in for dinner and I had their red chili. It was the best chili I've had in a long time. It can be noisy, but the service is really good.

This little nook is always packed with people. I was excited to see if this diner lived up it its apparent hype. The service was good and the food was fair but what really stood out was the "Big Daddy" challenge they offer. I've honestly never been to a place that does the whole "Man vs Food" type gig, so I thought that was pretty sweet especially since I hear they have killer breakfast burritos. I didn't par-take in the festivities but it was pretty nifty to see the photos on the wall and the big plate they most likely serve the behemoth burrito on when a challenger feels up to the task. I'd give our families breakfast experience a solid 3 stars. I think the food could use some sprucing up. I ordered the crab & asparagus omelette with added avocado. It was whatever. I was really hoping it would be real crab meat rather then the imitation that they serve. I did enjoy the super hot salsa they have. I'm not sure if it's a regular thing that they hand out to spice seeking customers or a batch that the cooks whip up for themselves, but it was tasty and had some heat to it. Now, their pies! My mother decided to order a few before we left and they said they'd have it ready by that afternoon for us to pick up. Two banana cream and one custard. It was a little over $40 for the three pies which was a little crazy considering we didn't even eat them. They just were't very good. I guess there's a reason why they don't have those flavors out regularly. Oh well, now I know where to go to get a good pie & it is unfortunately not here. My Mom's Pie in Niwot does a pretty good job, FYI! **UPDATE: I've received a ton of messages from loyal AAK patrons (and there are a lot of them out there) regarding their recent closing. Yes, a fire started in their kitchen & it will be some time until they can reopen the doors. Good luck to them on a speedy recovery! Personally, I'm not a huge fan of kitchen fires because 95% of the time that means there was a TON of grease buildup that has accumulated over the years. I'm all about new & improved. Even though it sucks that their closed and will be spending money on repairs, I think it's a good idea to prevent future safety issues. They just need to keep up on cleaning that kitchen & they will be golden!

We have been a regular here for several years. The menu is diverse and there is something for everyone. Over the years we have tried it all and the one true thing is this place will never disappoint. The wait staff is always on top of things and prices are very good.

It has been around for as long as I can remember! I remember going to church then breakfast on Sundays when I was young. But it was always filled with smoke! (The old days) Everyone is always so nice and cups are always full no matter what waitress you have! Thank you for the memories with my grandparents. Breakfast- burrito for sure Lunch- to many good mom and pop stuff Dinner fish and chips. ALWAY my fav!

Waitress smelled like cigarettes. Soup tasted like it was out of a can. There was plenty of room in the restaurant, but the stuck us next to the waitress' station. Whole place is filthy. Don't make it your first choice.

Not good! The food is awful and the service is bad. Go to Perkins if you want breakfast. It's only a couple blocks away and it's better than this dump. Not great but better.

Aunt Alice's Kitchen is Longmont's signature diner. Correction, good diner. I had a hard time trying to decide what to eat. Breakfast or lunch, breakfast or lunch? I settled on lunch and got a French Dip sandwich which was good. I haven't had one of those in a long time. The service was speedy and friendly. On some days of the week they offer free desserts and I went there on one of those days but wasn't offered anything. I didn't insist or hold it against them because I really did not need any more sugar for the day. They offer a huge burrito here and if you manage to eat it all you get rewarded in some way but most people can't. The pics of people trying to compete is pretty funny though!

You have to like a place that reminds you of diners of yesteryear with good food, good value and good service. The waitresses, hostesses and support folks all rock and take care of their customers. I especially like their breakfasts and the associated portions! Coconut cream pie is what my mom would say, "heavenly"

For some reason , i always leave with a stomach ache after eating here. Very friendly owners/staff but id go somewhere over this place to eat. Id even choose another restaurant(even fast food) over here or the sister company good fellas. Save your money!

Favorite breakfast in Longmont! My boyfriend brought me here before I moved out to Colorado, and I have to admit I was pretty skeptical. From the outside, it looks like your typical diner. Inside is much of the same, pretty outdated, mom N pop kind of place. We went to breakfast. We ordered omelets which comes with fruit or hashbrowns and pancakes or toast. I was shocked at how much I loved the breakfast. I have yet to have buttermilk pancakes that top the ones at Aunt Alice's. We go back quite frequently and always get the same thing...but sometimes we add a cinnamon roll for an appetizer :) It's always consistent, you know 100% what you are going to get when you walk into this place. I have not had lunch or dinner food from here, but I have also had the pie, which is homemade and very tasty. On the weekends, they have a specialty breakfast item called the German Pancake, I have yet to try it, because I love what I get so much that I don't want to stray, but it looks delicious! I definitely recommend this place! Cheap, consistant, and good food.

Had a few hours to kill during my sons track meet, asked some parents that knew the area & they told us that Aunt Alice's was the place to go for breakfast, they were right!! this place has AMAZINGLY good green chili & sausage gravy! I was a little nervous because it was BUSY! but the wait was bearable (about 10 mins) Our waitress wasn't super friendly but she wasn't rude either....Im guessing just super busy. I say...If your in Longmont...give this place a try, you wont be disappointed =)

Great breakfast burritos and other good breakfast dishes. All else, is hmm, else. Get the breakfast burrito supreme.

It is what it is - which is a homestyle Denny's / Coco's type diner restuarant. Overall, it could be a lot better. The staff was a bit abrasive to eachother at times, yielding an awkward experience. They couldn't figure out how to work the register. However, we had a gift card, so the meal was free and thus my judgment was far less objectively stringent. I had the enchiladas with green chili, which were good, not great. The big upside is the prices. Our $50 gift card will pay for a total of about 6 meals. Not bad at all Ultimately, avoid this one unless you just really want that local diner experience with no real flair or zest.

  • Adrienne M.

The waitress was incredibly rude and short tempered. It was 'free pie Tuesday' with specific flavors included and when I asked if there were other varieties available for SALE she snapped that she had already told me what they have. The pie itself is ok but it doesn't quite make up for the abhorrent service. Don't bother asking for a refill. And when asked for ketchup her exact words were 'I'll see if I can dig some up'. If you have any questions about the menu they will be answered with a filthy look and a short tempered response so look up what a 'malt waffle' is before hand and save yourself the trouble.

Having recently moved to Longmont from Burbank, California, I found myself instantly welcome at Aunt Alice's. The food is good and the people who work there are warm and welcoming. It's no surprise that the place is always busy. Would be nice if they'd serve beer and wine. There's something so wrong about having a platter of fish tacos without a frosty cold one to help warm my tummy.

    (4)
  • Wil R.

Total dive type place... but pretty good. Know what you are getting into, and don't expect too much, and you will be pleasantly surprised. They do a steak and eggs on Wednesdays for less than $5... cant beat that!

  • Pablo R.

this is not fine dining, but it great greasy spoon breakfast. The fried chicken is killer for dinner. Friendly staff, busy place - but if you get there and a there is a line, they turn tables over very fast and the wait is never long.

  • Kimberly M.

Aunt Alices is a cute home town type diner. With specials that vary from meal to meal as well as day to day (with some weekly specials, too) it's a VI with some personality. The staff is friendly and helpful and the prices are extremely reasonable (full dinner is around $9 a person...(and by that I mean: soup or salad, bread (roll), entree with two sides and a drink). Beware of the desserts....they tend to be HUGE (They're not kidding when they say "enough to share") and as such we tend to rarely order dessert there. Because how often are you with four people that all think a banana split sounds good? When there are choices like pie and cake and sundaes and shakes...? It's definitely a restaurant that is more...geriatric in nature. At least the majority of the customers seem to be from that crowd. But over all? Pretty good place to grab a bite to eat.

  • Kate A.

Aunt Alice's Kitchen is your place in Longmont for some real down-home, hearty cooking. Not for the calorie-phobic, the menu at Aunt Alice's is only for those willing to throw nutritional caution to the wind. So if you're looking for 'fat-free' or 'light', don't waste your time here. On the other hand, if you're looking for something fried, something covered in gravy, or something slathered in cheese you won't be disappointed. The staff is fairly friendly, but they're often whirling around in a controlled chaos and you may have to battle the local bingo teams and knitting clubs for a table at peak hours. The restaurant itself is nothing too impressive, but that's not really the point in this type of diner. The food is cheap, uncomplicated and there is plenty of it.

Greasy spoon. Emphasis on the "greasy" part. Free pie with the meal, but not worth eating it. Go to Perkins down the street for better food and pie.

    (1)
  • Plump P.

Greasy spoon is what this place is. A little rough. Definitely a career server place too. I give props to the woman who was wearing white heels while waiting tables. It definitely has more of an air of truck stop to me. This is one big open area, not delineated sections. I wouldn't take someone from out of town here. I picked something that had a slab of ham on the bottom topped with hash browns and two eggs. It was heavy on the guts but not really all that great. My fiance had a breakfast burrito covered with chilies and he liked it. I know it is hard to mess up breakfast but some places are just really good and others make you think you could have done better at home. It has been a while. I believe there are at least two stalls in the bathroom.

  • Paul Z.

Traditional diner which always seems busy. Food caters to the elderly and even has reserved Senior parking! If you desire some "culture" and really don't need quality food, check it out!

  • Noah O.

Aunt Alice's Kitchen is a good "ma-pa" style restaurant. The wife and I started eating here because my in-laws are "regulars" here. Personally I normally get there breakfast food, because their bacon is awesome here. The rest of the breakfast food is good too, but the Bacon throws it over the top. This place is normally fairly busy when we go here, there seem to be a lot of regulars that eat their almost everyday at the same time, so sometimes you may end up waiting on a table, but not normally. If you're not a health-freak, and just looking for a down-to-earth meal for a reasonable price, this is a great choice.

    (4)
  • Michelle T.

This is a great home cooking, greasy spoon type diner. I love it and it is ALWAYS busy, so I can't be the only one. Their breakfast menu is as good as it gets and their lunches and dinners have a lot to offer for family home cooked type meals. Definitely worth a visit.
