Sure it's an express pizza joint combined with a gas station and a Post Office, but hey.... the pizza is great! After watching an episode on the Douglas County channel 8 where The Garlic Knot Express was featured we thought we head out for a drive to Waterton Canyon and get some pizza on the way. Again, when pulling up you're not sure if this is a gas station, PO or a pizza joint, but really who cares. You're there for the food. The shop is small with a few booths and tables, but the smells are fantastic. The staff if nothing short of friendly and offers up some great suggestions on their menu, which includes subs, pastas, calzones and desserts. We opted for the lunch specials at $4.99 a piece. The first special is two slices of cheese and a drink and the second is one slice of cheese and five, yeah FIVE garlic knots with a drink. I opted for the second special and so glad I did. The knots are perfectly baked dough knots with just the right amount of garlic butter and salt. Honestly I could have gone without the pizza, but was impressed. Neapolitan style pizza without the greasy mess you find yourself in when eating an Anthony's pie. For those of you living in the Roxborough area there is delivery available, however not sure of the hours, again being found in a gas station. Love you Garlic Knot Express! We will be back on our next trip to the canyon.

We were very disappointed that our delivery Sicilian style pizza looked like it had been carried vertically for the less than 2 mile drive to our house! I don't mind that it was more than the hour wait they had quoted, but to have it arrive in that condition was appalling. I tried calling to complain but was put on hold and then disconnected. All the cheese had sunk to one corner of the pizza and the rest just looked like a soggy, tomato mess. In addition, the garlic knots were extremely undercooked. We've ordered from here 3 times before and everything was okay enough/ not sure what happened this time but I hope they will rectify the situation. I will try to post a pic.

Order here several times over the years - because it's the only pizza out here in roxborough. Last night order was so terrible we did not eat it. We ordered pepperoni pizza and knots. The pizza was cold, greasey and not editable. The knots which are usually really good were really really bad. This was a carry out order. If we ate in we would have asked to have the ordered redone. I'm sure we will order here again - why? See my first sentence.

Being on business travel, having a restricted lunch schedule and the proximity to my location, I decided to check this place out. It's the express version of the pizzeria, located inside the Safeway gas station. I was a bit disappointed that all of the tables were dirty and had to wipe one down myself, but it appeared as if a crowd just departed and they did not have a chance to clean up yet. Nonetheless, I ordered the Combo Calzone with added garlic. Fresh sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, red onions, green peppers, black olives and cheese were wrapped with a golden crust baked to perfection. The calzone was outstanding in flavor and crispness; I would place it on my top ten list for calzones. Granted I don't consume much of them, but this was perfect for me. The wait was a few minutes, which is what I needed today. The service, aside from the dirty tables, was excellent. I'm definitely coming back when back in town.

Coming from the east coast, I was a little nervous about how they'd do pizza out here. Let's face it, Colorado is known for many wonderfully way cool things, but pizza is not one of them. Well, the Garlic Knot Express has me worried no longer. They make some excellent pizza here and in addition to your "typical" pizza toppings, you can get some pretty unique and tasty ones added to your pie. Things like sun-dried tomatoes, spinach, broccoli, and a bunch of other stuff. They pile them on generously, too. And there are MANY pizza options along with a few salads and sandwiches on the menu, too. While it takes a while for them to make it, the pizzas they turn out are worth the wait. I've come in twice and ordered two pizzas each time and it's been about a half hour wait. You could solve this by having it delivered (they deliver to nearby neighborhoods). But if you're in a hurry, call ahead or be prepared to hang out a while for these pristine pizzas. Service with a smile and genuinely nice people run the place. The only thing that will probably keep me away is the price. It's pretty expensive for pies. A large pizza with a couple of toppings will run you about $20. I usually have to order two to feed my small army so can never get out of there for under $40. Maybe that's normal here, but back east I never paid that much for pizza. I'm headed to Papa John's in Highland's ranch next time. That's a little more east coast and reasonably priced. But the pizza here is very tasty.

Pizza was absolutely amazing! I got the Rockefeller. Garlic knots were pretty good but a little doughy. Definitely recommend this place

The pizza here is actually pretty good. BUT, the Garlic Knots, their "house specialty" were terrible! They were like soggy pizza dough wrapped in a knot with marinara. I didn't expect much from this place, and like anything else in Roxborough Park I thank the lord that it is here out of sheer necessity once in a while! Oh, and ps there ARE seats in there to sit and eat if you are wondering. They also have a few tvs and play the games as well. It's cute and small townish.

We called in here on the way back from Pike National Forest. Garlic Knot Express isn't just next to the Post Office, it is actually in the Post Office building. It's nothing flashy (check out the carpet though!) but it's clean, you have a nice view of the mountains in the distance, and the guys behind the counter are really friendly. We split a stromboli (with a drink, $5) and a stuffed slice/garlic knot/drink combo ($6). The pizza was greasy but stuffed full of sausage, pepperoni, ham and cheese. The stromboli was decent, if a little dry. The five garlic knots were my least favorite thing - really hard, really dry, and ridiculously salty. We both managed one each. If they'd been fresher, I'm sure they would have been pretty nice. So, GKE is fast, cheap, and decent. I wouldn't go out of my way for it, and I wouldn't want to order a whole pie, but I'd drop by for a slice if I was in the area. PS They deliver, and their website is garlicknot.net

My husband and I recently moved to Roxborough Park and were concerned about limited options for dining, especially pizza. We tried the other pizza place in Roxborough and were extremely dissatisfied, so we thought we'd give the Garlic Knot a try, even though it's located in a gas station. We've never, for one moment, regretted our decision! We're addicted to the Madison Square on thick crust and order it every Sunday night. We've also tried the regular pizzas, as there is a coupon on the back of your Safeway receipt for 2 large 2 topping pizzas. Those pizzas were delicious as well, but the Madison Square can feed the two of us for a few meals, so we usually go with that! We've only chosen the delivery option and have always had timely delivery as well as courteous delivery drivers.

It's ok. The pizza is good and so are the knots. The place is in a gas station which doesn't bother me any. Might bother others though. The atmosphere is a little stale. But It's yet again another one of the few places close to my work. They have a pretty good lunch special. A slice, knots, and a drink for $5 and some change. No where near the perfect slice but it'll due in a pinch.

Whether Mom's sick and doesn't want to cook or just craving a variety of good food, the Garlic Knot always comes through. We order delivery from them occasionally and it's always good. My two year old loves the sphegetti and meatballs. My four year old devours the cheese raviolis. And the baby can destroy some ziti! Definitely recommend!

A good substitute for NYC pizza, and very, very good for Denver. I'm a NYC transplant, and this is a very good substitute for it. I love the Greenwich Village and the Alphabet City pizzas. The garlic knots are always soft and warm (I'd actually prefer them a little crunchier), and since we live 2 minutes away, always a quick and easy alternative for dinner.
