I like to think of myself as an explorer looking for jems in my city. But sometime I get discouraged. I have been scouring the countryside for years looking for a diamond of a deli but no luck. I wonder if Indiana Jones went into dozens of temples full of cracked pottery and dust before he found the Temple of Doom. I was pretty much ready to give up looking for my old school deli temple until I came here. WOW did I find it! We went because a coworker of my fiance recommended it and again all I can say is thank you! I got the Mediterranean Destroyer and it was about a pound of glorious meat, bread and cheese. The sannies come with chips or mac salad. We ate in and the the mac salad is delicious. It did take a while for our food to come out. I think they were a bit short staffed but the crasher was very nice and apologized for the wait and seemed genuinely sorry. So I don't think that waiting for 20 min is the norm. The food made up for any wait. WOW! Other deli's take note, this is how it's done. OH yeah. Stay away of the soda machine. The mixes were so wrong it was nearly undrinkable. Water is free, just get that, there is plenty of taste in the food.

Don't waste your time with ANY other Italian-style deli in the Denver Metro. You will find this to be the friendliest deli, from the owners on to everyone else. And while it may not be cheap (about $10 gets you any of their specialty sandwiches and some pasta salad on the side), and it's not fast... it takes several minutes and some high quality ingredients to make sandwiches THIS good. I would recommend the Capo di Capo for a hot, meaty delicious, the Marilyn for a cold, tangy bite that flirts with every corner of your mouth, or the monstrous Godfather if you have an appetite for everything (plus proscuitto). Each of their meats and cheeses are truly top notch... easily the best salami and corned beef I've ever had. Take some time out of your busy schedule to relax and take in the Marilyn Monroe tribute... if you don't like it, you'll quickly forget your silly annoyance once you sink your teeth into the sandwich. Or pizza. Sweet mother of pizza. Have you ever had top-quality deli meats sliced and served on a pizza? If not, you cannot imagine the difference it makes, and how pampered you feel eating a pizza with amazing toppings. This is a pizza made by someone who loves delicious food. Even a simple pepperoni pizza will blow you away, but Le Migliore is king. Stop reading this review, and go eat! Be aware that it is cash only, though they have an ATM inside.

It is strange that I have never thought to review the Old Fashioned Deli on Yelp. Strange because I discovered it thanks to Yelp and have been a weekly customer for years. I love the place. The folks who operate it - Tom and his son David - are wonderful folks. They made me feel like a lifelong friend after my third visit. It is the sort of neighborhood deli where everyone jumps into the conversation. Tom LOVES to talk - ask him about Buffalo or the Marilyn Monroe collection that adorns the walls. The food is great - BIG portions and tasty. I love the pizza - and the fact I can swing in and grab a slice or two anytime. It is the only place in the area where you can get pizza by the slice. A reason to be glad winter is here - Tom will start making the chili that is only available in cold weather.

Food was decent, owner is very friendly. However, this place is very old and dingy. I would bet everything is original, which would be fine if it was kept up. Floors, tables, walls, and especially the bathroom need a lot of love. So I can only imagine how clean it is behind the counter. I had the Italian beef sandwich. Nice spices, but was expecting the beef to be much more tender based on other Yelp reviews. Plus, it was swimming in the au jus, so the bread on the bottom was soaked and mushy.

ThIs place is so convenient for us and the owner is very friendly! The sammies are good but the pizza is where it's at. Delish!

I cannot get enough of this place. I don't live in Littleton, but I often find myself driving out of my way to eat here. What's an extra 5 or 10 miles? These certainly aren't the healthiest sandwiches in town, but let's be honest... Who cares? You won't find a more creative, tasty sandwich shop in all of Denver Metro. The pizza is pretty awesome too.

I've eaten here several times, but wanted to try their pizza before I wrote the review. I live within walking distance of this place. I have had several of their sandwiches which have all been pretty darn good. The pizza is very tasty. We got a large pepperoni and salami. The crust was good as was the cheese. I felt the toppings were very tasty. The star was the sauce though. The pizza had just the right amount and it was delicious. It had onion in it which sounds strange, but worked great. Reasonable prices and a staff that go out of their way to be friendly and engaging. Glad to have this place so close...

I wanted to like this place, I really did but after this last experience, no thank you. My man and I went there to grab a quick lunch yesterday and, man, it was not quick. We put in our order and sat for over 15 minutes for a sandwich before I finally went to the counter to ask for my money back so that we could go somewhere that would actually serve us. I am in the service industry and in my opinion, service is just important as food. It was kind of insulting.

I expect this to become one of my favorite deli's in Littleton. This is an old school joint with a bit of dive like feel and a good dose of attitude...and I like it that way. The old guy working the deli counter is cool and will chat you up real friendly. Didn't know kind of sub I wanted so he gave me a couple suggestions but also said it was no problem just making something up with whatever I felt like. The subs are the real deal...loads of primo deli meats. I got two separate sammies, the old fashion italian and the godfather to share with a friend. The full sized subs are a full meal each...too much actually so I'll get the half next time. The pizza's looked real interesting as well and I'll try that when I have more time. One small miss...they went a little heavy on the mayo. Next time I'll ask to go real easy on the mayo. Don't let the sketchy appearance of the small strip mall fool you, this place is for real. It's located near Wild Ginger, a Thai restaurant that's pretty good also (I'll do a review of that later).

First time here. Remember... Cash ONLY! Authentic deli with good size portions. Will be back, likely for takeout.

This is the REAL deal! I've driven past here for YEARS but never stopped in.. Finally... I did and wow have I, a true sandwich lover, been missing out! My sister and I shared a sandwich since I read how big they are. Now they arent Jimmy Johns big bread size (empty inside) but they are STACKED full of delicious meats! The owner, I assume, was SUPER friendly and helped us decide what to order and it was amazing. When the son, I also assume, delivered it to our table we asked what a particular meat inside was. He explained it and said to "Open it up and take a bite, if you don't like it, I'll make you anything else for free!" WOW.. we giggled and say "it's fine! We'll like it" Was he ever right! Yes it's pricey, no it's not FREAKING FAST..but it is the MOST delicious sandwich you will pay good money for!

Choose anything--absolutely anything-- and you will not be disappointed. Dave and his father Tom work to provide the most amazing and perfect Italian Deli far known to man or beast. Their love of the food they serves shines bright. Of Note: Irish Bacon Sandwiches, The Terminator, The Enforcer, the Buffalo style hotdogs. Really, anything on the menu. Pure love on a bun or plate.

First of all, the food is amazing! The sandwiches are packed with meat and sooo tasty! Im in my first trimester and nothing sounds good but I will be back. We also got a pizza which was one of the best slices I've ever had. The pasta sides are delish and I could eat it all day!! I have never been so excited to eat my left overs later! Thanks Tom and David for making some kick ass food!! :) btw....everyone that works there are the most wonderful and personable people. I was craving some black olives (one of the few things i can stomach) and he gave me a side of them!! Love you guys!!!!

These guys rock! I've been frequenting this deli for 23-24 years. Their food selection is over the top. No matter what you want, these guys will provide. It is so rare that you find people so passionate about making it just right for YOU! There are many favorites: The Enforcer sandwich, Margarita Pepperoni Pizza, and the poor man's lasagna... just to name a few! Go hungry... leave pleasantly stuffed unless your have tremendous self control! There is no portion shortage at this wonderful little place.

Delicious sandwich. I ordered The Assassin, my Fraternity Brother (we are now in our 40's) had the Italian Pastrami. Great sandwiches. Long wait, plenty of Marilyn Monroe posters to check out. Pricey, cash only, off the beaten path. Very satisfying, independent vibe, great tasting food. I have been in far dingier spots, I think the reviews on that note are off, or the ownership got some new seating. Safe feeling, will return. Great Grinders! Only negative - the pasta salad was a disappointment. Otherwise - solid eatery.

Love this place! Admittedly, it is a dive (seriously dilapidated booths and decor), arguably in need of a deep clean but what really sticks with you is the old fashioned Italian deli atmosphere with 5 star food & service! The homemade sandwiches are insanely good and the pizza is just plain terrific! I can't think of a place I would rather have lunch if I am in the vicinity.

Dropped by here about 5p on Friday. Not very good timing - they'd just mopped the floors and the smell of bleach was a bit overwhelming. No big deal, we just got our food to go. After perusing the 50ish sandwich combos on offer, we ordered a Hitman (cappocola, prov, mozz, onions, jalaps, tomato, lettuce and mayo) and an Assassin (roast beef, cappocola, prov, Cheddar, tomato, onions, lettuce and mayo). Though $20 is way more than I would like to pay for a couple of sandwiches - and not terribly large ones at that - I've got to say they really were worth every penny. The hoagies were grilled perfectly, and the fillings were crazy delicious and fresh (the roast beef was especially succulent and tasty). If you're a sandwich fan, I definitely recommend checking out this place! Oh, and they also do salads, pasta, hotdogs and pizza-by-the-slice. PS Cash or checks only. No CCs.

Fontano's used to be my favorite sandwhich joint in Denver, until I visited Old Fashioned Italian Deli. I've been meaning to go here forever, but it's a cash-only establishment and my wife never lets me have cash anymore! Finally, today...I had cash and so on it was to a new deli. It's a small place with probably 15 - 20 tables, got the red and white checkered tablecloths, some pasta sitting out front, cases of deli meats and cheeses, and pictures of Sopranos, NY, and Marilyn Monroe. Dude takes your order, you have a seat, and about five minutes later you're on your way to being extremeley full. I got the full Assasin sandwhich because I didn't realize it comes with a pound of pasta salad or so. WAY too much food, but I didn't want to waste too many calories on the pasta salad. The sandwhich was too good. It's stock full of quality warm cold cuts, cheese, fresh vegetables, caramelized onions, mayo on top of a really good roll. You'd definitely be best off getting the smaller sandwhich or getting the full and taking half of the madness home with you. As sandwhiches are one of my favorite foods, Old Fashioned Italian Deli is my heaven.

When I was a wee lad on the East Coast, we used to pick-up "hoagies" with an exceptional taste that I've missed. I haven't had such a sandwich since, as I thought those things went the way of 8-tracks and Dodge Super Bees. I was always envious of Tony Soprano's favorite deli in all six seasons of that show. So it's been almost 30 years, but I've finally found a place that serves up that authentic "hoagie" taste that I've missed.--Old Fashioned Italian Deli. In short, the best deli sandwich I've had in three decades (and yes, I've kept score of all the deli sandwiches I've eaten over the years. Haven't you?) It's like a visit to New York City-- minus the giant rats, traffic and other undesirable elements. All the good stuff from an NYC deli is here: kitschy decor, great food and friendly personnel. When I left, I felt like I should be heading to the subway platform to hop a ride over into Manhattan or something. Oh, and FYI-- they only take cash or check. An average lunch will run you about 6-8 dollars (or more if you go with a full sandwich; which can feed two).

Went back on tuesday and had the rueben. Amazing Best I've had. The dark rye was perfect. While eating this sandwich, I wept and forgave all of my enemies. Who needs grudges, when there are sandwiches this good around?

Character, great food, excellent. Now, don't get me wrong, this owner needs some help. Your arms stick to the tablecloth. Your shoes stick to the floor. But, the food is great. Order the Terminator and you will be very happy.

Love this little place! They were nice to our toddler and it had that mom and pop feel. We ordered one hot sandwich and one cold. The hot was definitely the winner, and seriously huge! Next time we will split it and still have plenty. If you like sandwiches, you will like this place, promise!

I ordered a sandwich, and soon after realized that they don't take debit cards. Not having cash or check on me, I got in my car to leave. The young man behind the deli ran out after me and said, "why don't I make you a sandwich now and you can just pay me the next time you're passing by ?" Definitely not something that can happen in a corporate deli.. I will be back to pay for my sandwich, and likely to order another. Not the all-time healthiest meal, but definitely delicious, and unique sandwich combos as well!

I love this place. I have been going here for many years and they are friendly and the food is great. I could eat their sandwiches everyday. My favorite is the cool cucumber sandwich. Although the decor leaves much to be desired, this doesn't bother me. My biggest complaint is that when I went there two weeks ago, the door handle was so dirty, I wanted to wash my hands both going in and coming out. Please wash your door handle. If you do, I will give you 5 stars!

Just like everyone else on here I absolutely love this place. From the old nice man behind the counter, to the food, to the atmosphere of an old style deli, this place rocks. On my last visit I I had an Italian hot sub with a bunch of stuff on it that was excellent. I ordered my daughter a slice of cheese pizza which daddy helped her finish. The prices are cheap to. 1 sub 1 slice of pizza and a drink for $10. If my buddy hadn't taken me here a year ago I would have never found it since it's hard to see from the street but once you've gone you'll keep coming back.

This place rocks. Some friends and I were meeting there before class. I was able to specify my Irish Bacon sandwich without mayo, but a dash of their Italian dressing. Another friend was arriving approx 6:20 (30 minutes after our arrival) and the guy behind the counter timed it perfectly. Surrounded by Marilyn Monroe, I dug into my sandwich. The bread, a toasted and treated (with what I don't know) white bread was phenomenal, a crunchy feast for my tastebuds. The Irish Bacon was great too. Hit the spot after a killer crossfit workout. Thank goodness for the salty potato chips too. We got these since my other friend is a regular there and that's his preference. I took some pasta with me too eat later that evening. It was sharp, pungent, an Italian punch to the face (in a good way). To summarize: great food, good prices, friendly service. Next time I want to try the Inferno pizza and jot a note on the Support Our Troops board.

Hands down, this is the best deli I have EVER had the pleasure of discovering!!! In business for over 22 years, Tom and his son Dave own and operate this wonderful establishment and are two of the friendliest guys you'll happen to come across. True sandwich lovers! The sandwiches here are truely PHENOMENAL!!! Out of the 50 + sandwiches they offer, I have tried 13 and have yet to be dissapointed. Among MY definition of what I've had so far, here are the BEST - The Godfather, The Enforcer, The Terminator (my daughter's favorite) & Irish Bacon (my favorite - a MUST try if you love bacon). The pasta is very yummy, as well as the chocolate canoli's, mmmmmm. I have yet to try the calzones or the pizza as I'm trying to make it through the sandwiches first. I'm sure there is another favorite hiding in the menu somewhere. The last thing I have to say is "You are cheating your soul if pass this awesome new york style deli up!!!".

This place makes extremely delicious sandwiches!! At least that's what the hubs and I went for. Believe you me, we will be back to try the pizza! I was slightly overwhelmed by the amount of options I had to choose from. I got the Skyscraper and hubs, the Godfather. Seriously amazing! There is so much food for the price. The family that owns and runs this joint are really friendly too, which made if feel home-y. The only slight downside is that it is slightly run down, but honestly once you eat here, that will slip your mind and you just won't care.

Love at first sight (lol). Maybe I should hit my head against the wall for not going to this place before. The food is awesome! They have a big selection of sandwiches (cold and hot) and a spectacular pizza. I am big pizza fan and this one is among the best. Crust is hand tossed, not too thin, not too thick. Usually I think pizzas don't carry enough cheese, and ordering extra cheese is needed. That doesn't happen here, their pizzas carry enough cheese (a mozzarella, provolone and romano tasty combination). The topping are amazing, I ordered one with prosciutto (sliced at the moment) and it was great. There are other uncommon toppings like cappocola and Irish bacon. It is great option for lunch and since it is a deli after all, you can buy meats and cheeses by the pound. Prices are very reasonable. I found employees to be very friendly. No credit cards accepted, but for the quality of food at their prices I could care less. Visit their website: oldfashioneditaliandeli.… You will have a good take on their menu and prices. Plus pictures to show how the place is. I absolutely recommend this place. Forza Italia!!

I gotta give some serious props to this deli. Serious props! All props aside, this is the type of deli/restaurant that makes my part of town a great place to live. With a wide range of sandwich, pasta, and pizza options, this deli is a treasure. Every time I go there I make sure to sit down and enjoy my food, rather than take it to go. When you think of the delis you see in cinema, with the checkered table-cloths and photos of transit lines from NYC, I think of this place. It could be the set of some sappy romantic comedy but it also could be the setting for and Italian mob hangout. Whatever the case, both movies would be set here mainly because the food is so spectacular. Their truly is too many things to list that are amazing about this spot. So I will only list one...Mello Yello from the fountain. Need I say more?

Awesome! Best service, delicious sandwiches (The Assassin is my favorite), homemade desserts and pasta salads to die for. My Italian Grandmother would live in this place if she were still around. Go and mangia!

Family owned deli, and that's how it feels. The menu is all over the place, sometimes written, sometimes typed. They have a huge selection of options, and I've never had anything I didn't like. The employees are very friendly and care about the business. Portions are huge and a great value. I highly recommend the poor man's lasagna. It's enough to feed 3-4 people, but priced for one. Negatives: they don't take credit cards and service is not quite fast enough for a quick lunch run. Positives: Everything else!

There is no place like this in Colorado. It's awesome to find anything this authentic in Colorado, and that goes for any style of food. Any east coast import will love their huge selection of deli meats, breads, and sandwiches. I've been eating "The Godfather" sandwich from here for over 5 years, and it is honestly the best I've ever had. The staff is incredible, you couldn't punch the smiles off of their face. If you're reading this review considering places to eat today, seriously quit reading now, GO to Old Fashioned Italian Deli!

As a fan of the Food Network I have been hearing about Beef on Weck sandwiches for a number of years now. I have always wanted to try one, but of course they are mostly local to Buffalo. So, I did a search for a Denver area restaurant that made this hard to find sandwich and came across the Old Fashioned Italian Deli. I read the reviews and decided to give it a try. I am very happy I did! The Beef on Weck was/is excellent and I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The service, well it's not fast so if you are in a hurry, you might want to wait to give it a shot. If you do, you won't be disappointed.

This deli is a bit out of place. Not far from quaint downtown Littleton, this place is a legit Italian Deli (a rarity in Denver). My buddy Tom from Long Island recommended it, and one sandwich in particular- The Assassin. I remember exactly what he said when I asked what was in it. He said, "Meat, and cheese, and spice" and then he got this mean look on his face and shook his fist a little bit. After hearing that, how can you NOT go after this sandwich? Also, allow me to apologize, because I normally go to a place 3 or more times and try a few different things before posting anything, but when I saw this place had no reviews I had to do something. The Assassin might be one of the top 3 sandwiches I have ever had, and ingredients might be as simple as meat, cheese, and spice (you can't see me, but I am giving my computer the evil eye and shaking my fist). I grabbed this for the first time when I was working around this area, and I just wanted to grab a sandwich, take it back to work, and eat while I get caught up on things. Well, it didn't work. Once I took a bite, all I was capable of doing was enjoying the sandwich, and walking up to everyone within 50 feet like a Jehovah's witness selling this sandwich like it was the key to lunchtime salvation. The sad thing is, I'm not even exaggerating.I do this stuff all the time, and even nag people when they don't follow my suggestions. I went one other time, got the same sandwich, and then started speaking in sandwich oriented tongues to anyone that would listen. Apart from The Assassin, all I can really comment on is the place itself. I get the distinct impression the place is run by a transplanted New Yorker who just really wanted a place to get a good sandwich, and didn't trust any sandwich made in Littleton apart from the occasional PB&J with the crusts cut off. Very authentic Deli feel with a real Marilyn Monroe/Sopranos motif. If you are nearby (it's right near Wild Ginger), and you have a craving for a good sandwich with meat, cheese, and spice (fist shaking), you need to check this place out. Next time I am near there I am going in, and I'll make every effort to try a non-Assassin sandwich to update this review, but I make no promises.

This place has amazing sandwiches! I had the Philly and my husband had the Boss...we both loved them and ate until we were too full to move. The sandwiches are good size, so bring a hearty appetite or share between two people for a reasonable portion size. This place would be a 5 star if it was just a little cleaner and in better shape on the inside. Enjoy!

I live less than one block from here. This place is so good. The pizza crust is perfect, they're super friendly (always), and the y're not afraid to throw something together that's not quite listed on the menu. I heart you, old fashioned italian deli! I wish you guys were open a little bit later though, but I can't hold that against such a great place.

It reminds me of the little butcher shop that I grew up next to as a very young child. Only not as amazing. The deli has very few deli things to ofer but what I got was alright.

This place is amazing! My sister's boyfriend was a long time regular of this hole in the wall, and he recommended we check it out. Upon first walking in, we were greeted by a couple different guys, and after a few minutes of pondering the menu, I finally decided to get The Boss sandwich. When I ordered it, the man warned me it would be a little bit spicy and double checked I'd be ok with that -- I was. (side note- they do only accept cash and check, though, so be sure to have a couple bucks on hand. The ATM only charges a $1.50 service fee, but it is still a bit inconvenient) It took a few minutes until I got my sandwich, and after taking my first bite, my mouth was on FIRE. I guess I didn't give much thought to the fact there was spicy sausage on the sandwich as well as serrano peppers... Um. Yeah. Burned like hell. I instantly started reacting the spice of the sandwich, and pretty much downed my whole fountain drink in one sip (luckily they have free refills). Fairly soon after that, one of the guys came over and asked if the sandwich was too hot, to which I told him that it was, and he offered to make me anything else that I wanted. The sandwich I asked him to make me was the Italian Combo, which was so delicious! I also had some of the cheese pizza, so good! The whole place is decked out with pictures of Marilyn Monroe and red and white checkered tablecloths. The 3 men I talked to who were working were so kind and seemed incredibly passionate about the work they were doing. Some of the best customer service I've encountered, which is why I love little places like this! I loved the fact that not only did the man notice how I was reacting while eating my food, but he also offered to make me anything else to ensure I was satisfied, which I greatly appreciate. Overall a wonderful first time experience at OFID I cannot wait to go back and try more off their vast menu! I already feel the staff becoming like family, and this place becoming like home...

I always drove by this place hardly giving it a glance. One day I decided to finally gave it a shot. It's not too clean in there, nothing too new, and not very busy. But everyone is very kind and I was hungry, so I got a Godfather Sub. It came out stacked high with meats cheeses and dressings. A side of pasta salad and pickles. By far one of my favorite sandwiches ever. This place is awesome.

I discovered this gem through Yelp and I miss it costantly now that I don't work close to it. Tom is the best - a classic deli owner who's lovable, funny, and wants to serve the best food he can. I was given tastes of his delicious deli meat before gorging on the biggest sandwiches and calzones my stomach can fit. When I tried it, the daily ziti pasta wasn't exactly something to write home about, but in general I'm not a ziti fan so I'm biased. This is a great local restaurant serving deli food better then anyplace else you can find within driving distance.

This place is a bit out of the way and it's not much of a looker. That said, I loved the food here. I will definitely return, I wish they are open on Sunday though, by the time I remember that I want me some Italian Deli, it's already Sunday :(

I have been going here for about 8 years and I love this place. Forget about the way it looks and some the employees but you got to meet Dave and his parents, The owners. Some of the nicest business people in that area. When you go in and he talks to you while it takes a few minutes to make what you ordered take a look at his collection of Ms. Monroe. Truly a hug fan. Anyways, I'd tell you what my favorite is but it's hard to pick just one. Something with prosciutto or capicola on it. Dave buys only the best meats and cheeses for his restaurant. Stop buy and check it out... You won't be disappointed!

I love this place! Littleton is a little bit out of the way, but if it wasn't for the distance, I'm almost positive I would be here several times a week. Their sandwiches are so delicious! The names themselves are clever and unique as are the sandwiches. My favorite is probably still the Godfather. The sides change daily and so you never know what you will get. The pizza is well worth the wait. It is hard to resist temptation, but if you wait a couple minutes after the pizza has been set on your table, you will probably avoid burning your mouth as I have done several times now. Their meats and cheeses are of excellent quality. Make sure you bring cash and they do not accept credit cards. There is an ATM in the building if you forget though. The walls are covered with Marilyn Monroe pictures and this just adds to the overall atmosphere of the place. I love this place and highly recommend it to anyone! Oh and just a bonus, one of the guys that works there sounds exactly like Seth Rogan :)

Mmm Mmm good. It's that simple. I like stopping in for lunch and grabbing a hugemongus sandwich. I tried the new steak sub last tiem and was told it would be the best one ever. It was darn good but not the best ever, but it's not a complaint at all just a little truth. I will continue my visits for lunch and enjoy it.

This place is a really great find. A friend of mine introduced me to this place and I've been recommending it ever since. If you get a chance, try the Italian Beef and Sausage sandwich, it's outstanding. Wash it down with their old school root beer.

Very very good Italian food. Not many selections when it comes to pasta sauces and drinks- but what they do they do well- which is the way it should be

This place is the very definition of hole-in-the-wall. I was visiting my Dad who lives in Englewood, and while I was getting my oil changed, he took me out to lunch here. He promised that they had the best sandwiches, and he was right. It's not much to look at, but the place is great. They've been around for 20 years, which says something about their food. The owner was incredibly friendly, and the food was beyond stellar. My Dad had a meatball sandwich, and I had a sausage sandwich. I tried a bit of both, and they were above and beyond the accolades my Dad had given them. It was served with a tasty pasta salad, and the portions were huge! This place is right out of New York, and is worth discovering.

Best place in South Denver to grab a fresh sliced sandwich. . cool 50's Monroe thing going on inside. Great bang for your buck.

Love this place! I've been going for years and the people are amazing. Love Marilyn, so it's always a treat to get to see all of her pictures up. I lived nearby about 7 years ago and hadn't been in in about 5 and the owner still remembers exactly what I get every time I come in. Amazing! This is what excellent service looks like!

Hot Cappocola (Spicy Italian Ham), Genoa Salmi, Mortadella (like an Italian Balogna), Provolone, and Mozzarela were what I went in for. I had a couple of round loaves of bread from Panera's, some olive salad, and I wanted to make a Muffuletta like the ones I ate in New Orleans when I was growing up. What a treat this deli is. I've been back to eat the sandwiches they make, and they are delicious. So far I've had the Cool Cucumber Turkey, and the Italian Beef. Incredible!!!!!!!!! And, I indeed put my Muffuletta (a Sicilian sandwich made famous by Central Grocery in New Orleans) together, and their cold cuts and cheese are top of the line. I haven't eaten at Carbone's yet, but they'll have to be pretty damn good to beat this place. Looking forward to trying the Italian Sausage and Meatball sandwiches. I've been in Denver since 1968, and I can kick myself for not discovering this place until now. I'd seen it on Littleton Blvd., and had been shopping at the wonderful Mexican grocery, next door when I decided to walk in and look around. Marilyn Monroe photos everywhere and Frank Sinatra on the radio is all I needed to know. This place is great, and friendly.

Best sandwiches around! Their meats, cheeses, everything tastes excellent. Their pizzas are awesome too. I really dig the vibe and atmosphere in the deli, always have good tunes going as well.

Hello, my name is Jenn B. and I love bread and I love sandwiches. It's been hard the past month and half while I have been working on cutting out carbohydrates from my diet (easier than I thought). On a recent Saturday I was willing to splurge on a sandwich and was looking for a great one. It's not often I end up in Littleton however some car maintenance brought us to the neighborhood and made me think of the Old Fashioned Italian Deli that I've had bookmarked for some time. I never went inside, so my opinion is strictly based on the sandwich only. The bread is the consistency of a bagel, it was tough and doughy and not at all what I was looking for when ordering a sandwich. All the ingredients sounded good but what I got was three inches of meat and cheese between two slices of doughy bread. More is not always better. At some point it becomes a salty disaster which is exactly what I got. The only good thing I can say is that the sides of pasta salad were above average. The ratio of vinegar and oil was perfect and the pasta was cooked perfectly al dente (yum). For a place that offers a full page of sandwich options I was hoping for more. Extremely disappointed I wasted my carbs on a bad sandwich.

I discovered this place when I first here (5 years) and recently went back to get an Italian hoagie sandwich. I have to say the cold cuts are always perfectly cut and the bread certainly ties it all together. This isn't one of your pretentious sandwich places as it is "good old fashioned" hoagie sandwiches ( most commonly started by many Italian families back east). The prep time could take a little while so don't be in a rush if you go. If you are from New Jersey or New York, you will even appreciate this place more!

  • Terri B.

It's disguised as a mom and pop shop but they serve lots of different meats and cheeses on the calzones and pizzas. They make their own bread and if you order pizza by the slice- you get large portions. Their corned beef is awesome!!

  • Mike H.

Wow! A real New York deli in Colorado. Being from the east coast this is amazing. The God Father sub is crazy good. No wonder why they have been serving up great food for 30 years. Nice work guys.

Love this place. Lunch is always great. Ton's of sandwiches and lots of great meats. It's been in Littleton for 30 years. The owners are very friendly and always glad to see you. I always recommend this play to friends and family.

Parking is tough due to the restaurant in the same strip mall, but the hassle is worth the wait. Had the hot pastrami today and it did not disappoint! The place lives up to it's name as 'Old Fashioned'. Sandwich board on the back wall behind the long counter describes all the yummy options. A Sinatra song or something similar playing in the back ground along with the old school motif makes you feel as you have gone back in time. Don't pass this place up if you are craving a real deli experience. Do yourself a favor and skip the $5 foot long.

  • Thaddius B.

Why did it take me so long to come here??? You feel like you are in a Sopranos episode that was hijacked by Marilyn Monroe, you will understand when you go. This place is straight up old school. Big portions of good food are what you get whether it be a giant tasty sandwich or huge plate of pasta. I have not had their pizza yet but it looks good too as do their calzones. The place is pretty unassuming in what looks to be a half deserted strip mall but don't let the outside keep you from coming in, the sandwiches I have had are as good as you would get in a deli in Chicago or New York. If you find yourself in Littleton around lunchtime do yourself a favor and come here. I'm a fan just wish I lived closer!

This is the perfect hole in the wall deli! I read through the reviews and the negative ones are complete jokes. I've been coming here for years. Parking is never a problem, the place is always clean and hospitable. This is a place you would come to just hang out and put your feet up. The pizza is the best in the area. Big slices. The sandwiches are amazing and the bread is homemade. The owners are super nice and their mom's homemade cheese cake is to die for! Damn! Now I'm hungry!

Holy smokes Batman!!!!! This place rocks. The owner brings your food out to you when it is cooked. The menu is crazy huge and so much goodness to try and figure out what to eat. I had the sausage sandwich which was fantastic!!

The corned beef and pastrami sandwiches are excellent! My daughter loved the pizza by the slice. Are real Jen of a deli!

  • Andrew K.

I love this place! They use traditional hoagie rolls and fill them to the gills with meat, cheese and veggies, and douse them in dressing. If you grew up back east and have been having a hard time finding that old-school traditional Jersey style "hoagie," then this is the place for you! Their pizzas are awesome as well!

  • Joe D.

This place is true to its name. You could expect to see Michael Corleone come out of the back to put a hit on a corrupt police captain. While the service isn't fast food quick, the quality isn't fast food crappy. I had the Capo di Capo and it was tops in my estimation. I had to go and it was still hot and tasty upon my arrival at my office 5 miles away. If you can eat in, I'm sure it adds to the overall quality. Next time I'll buy a slice and see how they are with their pies. They make a sandwich you can't refuse.

Stumbled upon this little gem while typing in "restaurant" in Google maps on my phone while I was over by Mineral and Broadway. Wanted to take my wife somewhere different for lunch as we were sick of the chain restaurants for our lunches on the weekends. I am a chef and a foodie and All I have is WOW! The presentation of the homemade sandwiches with a side of pasta immediately made me want to dive in to the plate and hug what was in front of me. The taste was AMAZING. I tried my wife's meal and she tried mine. I wish I had a bigger stomach because I would have stayed there and had another. I HAVE SUGGESTED THIS PLACE TO EVERY FRIEND I HAVE! I will be taking family here when they come down from the northern states to visit. NO CONTEST THAT THIS IS SOME OF MY FAVORITE FOOD!!! THANK YOU TO ALL WHO WORK THERE!!!

Great family owned deli. Everything is made fresh daily including the bread. Large selection of sandwiches, salads, pizzas, calzones, and much more. True a family oriented business. I will most definitely add to my must visit list of restaurants when I go home for a visit.

Oh my goodness. It has taken me a long time to find a place with Roast Beef..on Weck! Being from the Buffalo NY area, this is a staple food for us and it's hard to find anything decent to resemble it outside of NYS. The owner is from Buffalo so we go to chat with him for a bit and share our love of the food. My hubby got the roast beef and I got the calzone. I knew we'd be sharing! The roast beef= super yummy. THe portions here are huge. I couldnt finish my calzone so I had to take it home with me for later, no problem there! The prices were great esp with the size of the meals. We will definitely be back.

Deli 4 the Belly What a great experience! I read the reviews before trying out this place and they were spot on. The food and service were both first-rate. I had a turkey sandwich on rye. Michal, my beautiful friend, had a pizza sub on French bread. Both of our entrees were served with a pasta-style salad on the side, which was most surprising in style and flavor. Dictum: Tom and his son David run the deli. My friend and I met David; he was about the nicest guy you'd ever meet.

I really like finding delis and this one is my favorite! I'm a huge fan of their hot sandwiches and they are ginormous!!! The guys working behind the counter are always friendly the food is fresh but it is cash only so remember that when you come.

These guys are the real deal. The Roast Beef Bomber sandwich was totally bad@ss. No bells & whistles, no flare, just straight up good food and good portions. You want to eat here. I'll be back. Can't wait. You guys rule.

I have this theory. I may have mentioned it before. But if you see a divey, sketchy joint, and there are nice cars parked in front of it: You go in. Because it's good. So needless to say, I'm not afraid of a little sketch. The Old Fashioned Italian Deli is a little sketch. It's in a (really, really, really) old strip mall, complete with decaying wooden shingles on the roof. The inside is everything peeling and dingy and old. The counters are old and cracked. The cold cases glass is foggy. The tablecloths are ripping. The open kitchen is... Old. And the sandwiches were delicious. I got the Sausage (sweet) and Eggplant, To Go. It came absolutely SMOTHERED in a (good!) red sauce, and properly Saran-Wrapped to prevent spillage in the car. The sausage bordered homemade (is it??) and was the star of the sandwich. The eggplant would have been a great compliment to the sandwich, but I prefer my eggplant pre-salted and roasted or grilled a little more. In spite of that, I devoured every bite. The bread absorbed just enough of the smothering sauce to be an irresistible crusty yet spongy-just-enough-soggy goodness. (Think a good Au-Jus soaking on a French Dip, but with garlicky tomato sauce and parmesan melty mozzarella.) Thank you, Sir. May I have another? It's in close proximity for a Lunch Break, so I'll definitely be back. Here are some tips: Grab a paper takeout menu. There are options on there that aren't offered on the menu board. (Half sandwiches, for example.) The descriptions are better, too. Also grab napkins and plasticware for your sandwich. You may think that sandwiches are fingerfoods, but in this case, the dousing of tomato sauce makes a knife, fork, and extra napkins a necessity. Bring CASH. They ONLY take CASH. CASH, CASH, CASH. (Their On Site ATM will run you $2.50 plus what your bank charges. I've always been suspicious of these. Is the business sharing in the profits? Ah. That's another review.) So. BRING CASH. And don't be afraid of a little sketch.

The people working there (the owners?) are really nice. However, the place is dirty and in disrepair. The food quality is low. An Italian sandwich made with store grade white bread hoagie rolls. The meats were ok - some really strange ingredients. The salad was good. The pasta not so much. The pizza was good. I can only imagine that people like this place compared to the surrounding options. I will not come back.

Awesome place. Great sandwiches. Lots to choose from. I tried the skyscraper. It's huge. Be ready for a to go bag. The place has nice chill music and they love Marilyn Monroe. She's everywhere in that place. If I'm back in that area, I'll try the hot pastrami.

This place had come recommended by a friend who said they have the best sandwiches ever. Saturday when we got hungry at lunch, we ventured over to give this place a try. We walked in and there was a group of four at one booth and a couple at another table, and they all looked like regulars. I was a bit turned off by the decor. They have a huge Marilyn Monroe collection, that while neat tends to junk the place up a bit. Most tablecloths looked hodgepodge on tables too large for them and I personally was afraid to sit in a booth. The tables themselves were still dirty with food particles from an earlier rush I could only guess. The menu is large and on the counter where you order, so we stood there for some time before deciding what to try. The girl behind the counter was very friendly, and patient. We decided to split The Skyscraper (roast beef, turkey, ham, cheddar, provolone, Swiss and more..) and ordered it without the lettuce, tomato, onion and peppers. I thought, not being very hungry, I could certainly kill 1/2 sandwich. I was wrong. The thing was amazingly, large. I regret not accepting the knife she offered when she delivered it to our table. I have to say it was divine!! The meats and cheeses are top notch and delicious! I look forward to going back again to try some of the other amazing concoctions on the menu. I may have to get it to go though.

Seriously the best sandwich shop I've ever eaten at, particularly in the Denver area. Hands down. Whenever I go here, a sandwich from anywhere else seems so measely. It takes about 15 to 20 minutes to get a sandwich probably because they're busy making it fresh from scratch, but it is well worth the wait. Know that they charge a little extra (like 2.5% or something) if you use a credit card or debit card. But this place is so friggin good!!!

Since moving to Colorado 4 years ago I have been searching for an Italian deli like back home in Boston. Time after time I have been seriously let down. I am super excited to report that I have found it!! Best Italian sub shop hands down!! The meatballs are phenomenal!!!!! The people are great, the food is amazing and the place is in fact old fashioned!! If I weren't watching my calories I probably would move in next door!

The atmosphere is exactly what you would expect from an authentic Italian sub shop. The smell of fresh dough, the slightly warm temperature, Sinatra playing softly in the background that seems to be all but forcing a rhythmic foot tap..... Being from the mid-west originally I love when i come across a good Italian beef sandwich at a seemingly authentic spot. Go with the Italian beef fully loaded and you wont be disappointed !

First of all, the people who run this place could not be nicer! Hubs and I love our pizza but this place closes at 7 during the week! So I coordinated my call in for take out at 6:40- I know, I know- but we just don't eat that early. So very gracious, the 2 guys making the pizza did not mind at all and it smelled sooooooo good when I arrived. Yes, the place is old and divey, and honestly, it was so hot in there- I don't know how anyone could actually eat in- but I think that is what makes it charming. As for the pizza, it was pretty delish. A bit too much cheese for my tastes but the crust was solid and the sauce was good- could have used more of that and less of the cheese! I'd definitely like to return and try some of the sandwiches that people rave about. And yes, as others have said, don't forget your cash since they do not accept credit cards!

Their pizza's and sandwich's are amazing, the environment is fantastic, and all the people working are extremely friendly. I have gone back to this place several times and every time I leave satisfied and feeling good. If you haven't already, chdck this place out!

  • Kyle W.

I really question why this place gets such great reviews. The sandwich was probably 4/5 stars, but that simply doesn't outweigh the cleanliness problem they have. There seems to be no pride of ownership in terms of the environment. The staff was very friendly and the portions were large.

  • Mike S.

OMG! I'm a huge fan of Snarf's but this place is even better. The Capo Di Capo is one of the best sandwiches I've ever had... Defiantly coming back..

  • Rick K.

On the fence on this one. They seemed to have high quality meats in the display case. They had a very large menu which always confuses me. There are very subtle differences between sandwiches which makes it hard to choose. I went with the namesake Italian and found it so so. Proportions of meat to cheese to bread was off. The bread was pretty good but I didn't love the whole sandwich. I really didn't like that they wrap the to go sandwich in plastic. I'd prefer a wax paper wrap since that Saran Wrap plasticy smell/taste lingers just a touch. Prices were a little on the high side at $8-9 for a sandwich but they do throw in chips and pickle spear so not terrible price-wise. The man who helped me was very nice and helpful. All in all just an average sandwich and experience.

It's the classic italian deli taste, or at least what I remember from growing up in Jersey. Unfortunately, it takes them 20 minutes to make a sandwich.
