Agaveros is a great local place. We like the Mariachis on Sunday night and feel like the food is a good value. Our favorite dishes are the Steak Jalisco and Pollo con Crema. There's enough food for two people in both of those dishes. Additionally the staff is super-friendly and responsive.

My friend Jorge recommended this place so we drove a bit out of the way to try it. I ordered the shrimp ceviche and my husband ordered a combination platter with a chalupa, taco, and a crispy chili relleno. The ceviche wasn't inexpensive so my expectations were already higher than usual. It was very spicy and included carrots which I've never seen before in ceviche but gave it nice flavor and crunch. My husband's dish was also flavorful but what stood out with his was how ENORMOUS the plate of food was. We definitely left extremely stuffed with tons of leftovers - and very happy.

Chile Rellenos were cold on the inside! Tequila shots $8? Didn't expect to spend $60 at LUNCH

Food and service are really good, BUT...air conditioning makes the restaurant way too cold and uncomfortable for customers. I get cold within moments of sitting down. Otherwise, great place for good Mexican food.

I was wondering why this place had such high ratings but then I realized many of the reviews are fairly old. I ordered a colorado burrito and my wife ordered a soft chili relleno and a tostada. My first alarm was the food was out within three minutes of ordering it. My plate was dirty, with grease and little stuck hairs around the edges of it. My wife's relleno came out crispy so the waiter apologized and took it back. He returned in a minute with a new one. They obviously took it from the freezer threw it in the frier and on the plate. It tasted like freezer burn and was soggy and just gross. Except for the freezer burn taste the food was completely flavorless. The decor and staff was nice. That's really it.

I love Mexican food and I give this place a thumbs up. Green chile is great, beans are good and the chicken mole is very good. This is my place to get green chile "to go" and take home to make my own burritos. Best price for green chile.

I have been to Agaveros many times and it is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the Denver area. What I like most about it is the "Mexican candies" available by request. Jalapeños lightly fried in lime juice - very tasty! Their complimentary ceviche style mushroom salsa is also unique and tasty. There are a few good items on the menu I typically order like the loco burrito and arroz con pollo. Many other rather typical dishes that are nothing out of the ordinary for a Mexican restaurant. The people are friendly and service is good. Overall I like it a lot, but mostly because of the appetizers.

First off BIG WARNING.. People are confusing this place with Carlos Miguel's across the street!! All wonderful reviews on here fit Carlos NOT this place!! This place does not bring beans with the chips nor does it have a patio. I love mexican food and love trying new places so was excited to come here for lunch with my husband. This was the worst experience ever. Was curious when a place with such a high rating has only one other table during the lunch rush, now I know why. I ordered a soft chili relleno and tostada. Came out in 2 mins. Granted doesn't take long to throw some beans on a shell and all but come on! My order was wrong with them bringing a fried relleno. They took it back to return with a soft version 2 mins later. It was soooo gross! Taste completely freezer burnt and tossed in Luke warm oil so the grease soaked into the batter and ran out the second I cut into it. The tostada had no flavor at all. The sour cream was the highlight which isn't my favorite thing on food. When I wouldn't eat my food and was questioned by the waiter he blew it off and still charged me for it. My husbands wasn't any better. The plate was extremely dirty and food also tasteless. I don't think I've ever left a place feeling sick but I definitely wasn't feeling good after this experience. We will never return!! But trust me when I say to go on the east side of Kipling and eat at Carlos Miguel's! We've been there three times with every experience being very pleasant with delicious food. I just wish people would stop confusing the places when it comes to the reviews.

I really really REALLY like this place. To start off with their salsa was pretty good. Not to watery, not to chunky and had really great flavor. I would probably go for their salsa alone. As a conasor of mole' that's what I ordered. I have to say it was pretty exceptional. I'm going as far to say that it is my favorite. Not to bitter or spicy, but the right amount of sweet, spicy, and flavorful. I could smell the cinnamon and it really sets their mole' apart from the others around town. The place was very clean, and I had an adorable waiter. My only dalema is do I stick with the mole' or try something else. I'm for sure going to be a regular here.

I came with a group of about 30 people. It took them a hour and a half to take all of our food and drink orders and an hour later we received our food. MY FRIEND LATER FOUND A SMALL BUG IN HER FOOD. We found out it was one cook and they were understaffed-- although they were polite and patient. I will not be coming back.

We have looked all over for a good Mexican restaurant and finally found this wonderful place! The food is terrific, price is good, as well as staff. Going back as often as possible! :-)

Consistently great service. Love the Classic Margaritas, and a number of the seafood dishes. Great neighborhood restaurant. We visit a few times a month and always have a great meal and great time.

Tasty food galore at this fine mexican restaurant. There are more traditional Mexicano dishes, or flour tortilla inspired meaty cheese dishes!! The salsa is good.

Found Agaveros to be a typical American Mexican restaurant; better than some, worse than others. If you are not looking for truly authentic Mexican and lean towards the Americanized version of Mexican cuisine than Agaveros will suit you fine.

SOOO wanted to like this place. It's within walking distance to our home, nice decor, really hoped it would work. The food was decent. Nothing great, nothing to complain about. 3 times we went, 3 times we had blah service. Interesting reading the other reviews about friendly staff. They weren't unfriendly, but certainly didn't serve in any way.

Love this place! Very good food and a good twist as far as Mexican seafood goes. I'm a regular here!

Agavero's, GREAT! I think Agavero's is GREAT! Their bean burrito for kids is great! The kids bean burrito is delicious! It is warm and squishy to top it off there are beans and rice comes on the side and there is melted cheese on top of the burrito. The service at Agavero's is pretty quick. The people there are really nice and cheerful! The place looks nice, too! There are cool decorations hanging from the ceiling! My favorite one [hanging from the ceiling] is a parrot on a perch. There are other things like beer but I ignore those because I am only in fourth grade. The chairs and tables are awesome! I know that sounds stupid but there is a cool flower pattern around the edge of the tables. The backs of the chairs carved and painted into cool stuff like suns and flowers. Agavero's is an amazing restaurant!! There bean burritos for kids is the best ! I love Agavero's is my favorite restaurant!

Started out with great serving of complimentary chips and homemade salsa. The salsa was a little spicy but delicious. The chips were thin, fresh and warm, perfect. Ordered the Rancho burrito with carne asada (wet burrito). Everything was excellent. Definitely would come back.

I have been craving good Mexican food and have been disappointed the last 2 places I've eaten. We tried Agaveros tonight because of the good reviews regarding salsa, green chili, and carne asada and we were not disappointed. The salsa was delicious & addicting! My husband ate the carne asada & he gave me a bite. The steak was good; not dry & overdone, not chewy, great flavor. Just a little skimpy on the green onions. We got a grilled jalapeño & it was hot & added great flavor too. I ate a combo; chili rellano, tamale, & chicken enchilada. Chili rellano had a good sized chili inside & oozed cheese, breading was crispy not soggy. Tamale had good flavor, but was a little dry, so I smothered it in green chili. I don't love enchilada sauce but theirs was good. Beans & rice were good, even better smothered in green chili! Service was good; waters filled long before empty, salsa filled several times, asked how we were a few times. I joked that I should have taken a picture of our empty plates (FYI husband helped finish mine)... Enough said! Craving satisfied!

The dishes vary in quality, but it's solid Tex-Mex, with a handful of genuine Mexican options. It's very inexpensive, both the food and the booze, and kids love it, so you can take a family of five there, margaritas and entrees for the parents, kids menu stuff for the kids, tax and tip, and walk away for $35 or so. Some of the reviews here say that the staff was indifferent, but at least with kids, the staff is fully engaged and fun -- they seem to love it if the kids toss them a few Spanish phrases, por favor and gracias and disculpe. It ain't haut cuisine, but I would venture that I have taken my daughter and her friends her 25, 30 times, easily. It won't impress a date, but it's good cheap family food, and very pleasant staff.

I ordered 2 different flavors of margaritas and asked for them to be on the rocks. The server came back and asked again what flavors I wanted and then she came back with frozen margaritas and was charged extra because they were frozen.

Wow wow wow! New owners and great Mexican food. Best chips and salsa. Great burrito. Enjoy.

I wouldn't waste your time or money here. The only good thing I can say is the staff is very friendly. To be honest, I didn't even finish my meal. I ordered a taco and the meat remineded me of sloppy joe hamburger. The fajiltas were less than average and was made with some kind of gross seasoning. Don't eat here, consider this a warning.

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants ( and I have eaten at countless Mexican joints throughout the U.S, and overseas). I do not understand these other poor comments the food is very good, very fresh, and very reasonable (there are 4+ Mexican restaurants within a few miles and they are half the food for twice the price). The service is wonderful. As one comedian stated "you know you are eating somewhat authentic Mexican food when the place is full of landscapers and other Latino's."

It is okay, my wife and I have been back so that says something. Salsa and Chips are good and service is good. Have tried multiple things on the menu all good. My wife likes the Mole enchalidas.

This is the worst Mexican place I've ever been to. The service was good, but the food was bad quality. The steak fajitas had a weird seasoning on them which didn't match up with any of the other ones I've gotten anywhere else. Tried a taco as well and it was very blah.

Loved this place when it was Guadalajara... Still love it. The arroz con pollo seemed a bit greasier last time I was there, but it is still tasty. A hidden gem & not too busy! Kind staff. Delicious chips & salsa!

This is our go-to Mexican restaurant when we don't want to drive too far away (otherwise it's Blue Bonnet). The service is always friendly, quick, and interactive. Our whole family - 5yrs old to teen to adult - can find something they love and its very affordable.

Agaveros has once again changed ownership. Over time it became really good and we were known by name, since we were there twice a week. Now the great waitstaff are gone and it has become a typical Mexican Resturant loud shirts and all.

I love it. I loved Guadalajara, and it changed to Agaveros. I went a while ago and it was just okay. As of my recent visit, I thought the food was amazing. It turns out they've changed ownership again. Prices are a little steep, but the quality is worth it.

Agaveros replaced Guadalaja restaurant. I was always a big fan of Guadalajara, so I was quite disappointed when I showed up yesterday and it had changed ownership. They do have a nice, large menu with lots of dishes (not just your burrito/tamale/rice & beans combo). But, they could use more pictures! I ordered the "Camarones Aguachile" which was described as large shrimp with vegetables in a chile verde sauce. Sounds good, right? What I got was a lettuce-less salad with spicy green dressing. It was cold and consisted of cucumber, carrots, onions, tomatos and shrimp. Eh, it wasn't bad, but certainly wasn't the fajita-esque dish that I was expecting. My friend just got a couple of tacos, but the shells were definitely those store bought kind (boo!). Better descriptions and/or pictures, please! They had good drink prices, $2-3/bottle of beer, $5 house margaritas, etc. They had flavored margaritas for an extra dollar, including coconut, mango, bluberry (facinated by what a blueberry margarita would taste like) etc. I think they kept on the majority of the waitstaff from Guadalajara, so service was good. They even serve a bean dip as well as salsa to go with your chips (yum). So, this place needs some work with regard to their menu. I may find myself here again, but I will probably make an effort to try out the other mexican restaurants in the area first. Not in a hurry to go back to Agaveros.

I have been meaning to write a review about this place for a long time. It is one of the better Authentic Mexican restaurant's that I have visited in Colorado (though there are many). Food: What really got me about this place initially was the "Mexican Candy" that they bring (free) to your table upon request. Fresh Jalapenos that are fried whole until the skin falls off and the seeds turn golden brown. Then they are sliced, salted, and doused them in lime juice. Absolutely delicious. They're Carne Asada is perfect. There guacamole is excellent. In love with their fish tacos. Amazing refried beans. Chicken tortilla soup is to die for! Prices: Unbelievably reasonable. Ample portions. Domestic and Mexican beers are a steal deal. Good Margaritas. Service: Wonderful. If there is anything in this life that I personally can't tolerate; bad service. They don't have that problem. Suggestions: When the chips and salsa come out, ask for "Mexican Candy", their mushrooms (they'll know what you mean), and the complimentary bean dip.

This is not only the best Mexican food in the area, but also some of the best FOOD of any kind in the area, hands down! We are regulars here. We love the staff--they are all so sweet and always passing out little "extras" like fancy salsas and sopapillas just to be nice. EVERYTHING on the menu is good. We have never had a bad meal here (and we go here often)! The prices are great too. This place never disappoints!

The seafood is great, but the service is spotty. All of the employees are very friendly and we will return to give it another try.

Very, very average. I had chipotle chicken enchiladas which had no kick. My husband's burrito was big but not memorable. Might have been better washed down with margaritas but we were driving home after a ski day and didn't partake. Can't really recommend.

The carne asada plate is freaking amazing.

Very inauthentic Mexican food. I've only been once but I was very unimpressed. I think I had huevos rancheros and it was not only untasty, but it was also visually unappealing. It wasn't TERRIBLE, and the staff was friendly, but meh. I will say that the prices were very very good.

We always enjoy going to Agaveros as we love supporting this nice, family-owned neighborhood Mexican restaurant. The service is always great, and the food is really good too. Make sure you get the bean dip with your chips and salsa!

Our family loves Agaveros. The menu is extensive, and the food is great. Our favorites are the Toños Special (shrimp dish), the Steak Jalisco and Carne Asada. The service is great too, and on Sunday evenings they even have a mariachi band which we've enjoyed recently as well.

At first glance this is your typical local Mexican restaurant in a suburban strip mall. The decor is nice, and parking is easy to find. When you first step inside the staff is very friendly. I went with my dad, and they seemed to treat him like a regular, even though he's only been a couple times. They have a great bean dip that comes free with the chips, and I just couldn't get enough of it. The menu selection is extensie and includes a substantial seafood selection. That night they had $2 margaritas. The food was above average, and the ingredients were very fresh. The staff was attentive, friendly, and warm which is unusual to find these days. I liked it so much we went back a couple days later for dinner. I am surprised this place isn't busier than it is. This must be the best kept secret in Ken Caryl.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
