Dear Bar, Thank you so much for existing. See, I was driving down to Colorado Springs from DIA. Before I left the airport, I had stopped and grabbed a quick burger at McDonalds. It seemed like a good idea at the time. Well, right as I passed Castle Rock, my stomach started to rumble. Badly. I was on the phone with my sister, and desperately asked how much further it was to Monument. She replied, oh, 20 minutes. My stomach is now in full on revolt. I'm going to have to go out in the snow with the cows at this rate. Luckily, the sister remembered, that, yes, Larkspur was coming up. And, she's pretty sure there's a Conoco there. I quickly take the Larkspur exit, and zoom down the road. Everything I pass looks closed. Finally, like a beacon of happiness, I see a bar. With lights on. I zoom into the parking lot, and race out of the car. Now, I'm assuming this is a nice friendly place, given that the second I opened the door, all 10 people (It was a Friday night) turned around and looked at me. A few even smiled. I tried to smile back, but the second I saw the bathroom sign, I almost broke out into a run. I slam the door closed, and see that there are two toilets, no stall. I don't care. I smack the door lock (who knows if it worked), and happily, well, you get the idea. Let's just say my innards felt much better. The bathroom was very clean. I sheepishly leave, and the bar maid smiles nicely at me. I'm sorry I didn't stay for a shot, but I had to get to my mom's. I give you 5 stars because if not for you, bar in larkspur, I would have humiliated myself in the snow with cows. No one wants that. Love, Gail

Service was friendly, but slow. My son asked for a lemonade when we ordered dinner and the waitress forgot to bring it. The fajita burrito didn't have much flavor and the french dip au jus was overly salty. We'd been here before and it was better, so maybe it was just the night, but I don't think we'll be headed back.

Worst burger ever! I can't understand how they did it, but they managed to squeeze every drop of juice out of the meat. Then they served it up with wilted lettuce and ketchup and mustard from little packets.

If you're looking for a sleepy little dive bar in the middle of nowhere, this is it. Full of locals - great eavesdropping too btw.

Although I'm fairly new to Colorado and never made it into the old Spur of the Moment, I did go have lunch today at the brand new location which is right next to the old one. It was very clean, friendly and reasonably priced. Had the buffalo burger. It was good for a $7 burger. The potato salad side was a little watery. Could use a bigger selection of draft beer at least for my tastes. I'll have to go back and see what it's like at night.

This is our local watering hole. The service is great and the longer you stay the more free drinks you get it seems ;) Especially when the bartenders start taking shots with you. It is the most poppin right after the ren fest gets out on Saturday or Sunday nights or during their annual pig roast. I also attended the fundraiser there. They are good people. There is actually a backyard at this place and they have a nice lawn and horseshoes. I wish they would bring back the pool table that was there years ago. Everybody in there has kids of their own or has otherwise been ultra hospitable to my wife, myself and our daughter. Great burgers and real good chicken quesadillas!

I was in Larkspur for a conference and tried The Spur. I think it is as good as it gets. The bison burger was so delicious that I went back for it three days in a row. The bison burger is huge and melts in your mouth. I had it with pepper jack and jalapenos and, let me tell you, it was orgasmic. PROS: The food is truly delicious. The drinks are cheap. The staff is friendly and very attentive. The bathrooms are spotless. The local crowd is eclectic and fun. CONS: Not a one. Can't wait to go back next April!

Love this restaurant! We take scenic route from the Springs on Hwy 105 for good drinks & food. Buffalo burger w/onion rings or homemade potato salad is great. Staff very friendly & restaurant extremely clean. Nice break from fast paced establishments. Everyone we have taken here has loved it. If they get slammed all at once just roll with it & relax!

Great place! Good food, I've lived around here for my whole life, they remodeled this place. It is much nicer in here now with friendly staff and good food, I would strongly recommend it.

Discovered this little gem after the Ren Fest this year. Great cheap drinks, awesome food, and the staff is very friendly.

Terrible food...can't belive owners built such a nice facility, yet, gave no thought to the terrible food and cheap wine. Many neighbors in surrounding Larkspur would love to support this establishment but say they can't stomach the menu!. Wish owners would clean up the menu, get a decent cook and add some, at the least, middle of the road wine selection!

The shiny NEW SPUR- I like this place as a restaurant --- not so much as a " bar ". If you come when it's busy expect to wait forever for a drink . Inside seems a little like " Denny's"brightly lit and family seating with hard chairs or slippery " high top "chairs--no booths. Frantic overcrowded bar area, not enough bartenders. So it's hard to chill & outside ( if you can make it past the crowded hallway & bathroom LINE)outside ,is under this GLARING BRIGHT LIGHT . everyone hates that light! Ok. --- now the GOOD ..., Great burgers !! Buffalo or beef , great fries too ! Their soup is made "in house "and changes daily . Really good soup ! Daily specials are usually great ( and often fancy). Portions are generous . The owner " Barb" is usually there and really cares about her customers . They always welcome the Renaissance Faire workers( June&July) & that is fun too!

The Spur of the Moment of old was the local dive bar, where locals would shrink away in terror whenever the workers from the Renaissance Faire down Perry Park would come by during summer weekends. The place was dark, served a bit of food, had slow-to-no service, and guaranteed a three-hour visit to eat a one-hour meal. Then they worked on the place, brightened it up, expanded the menu, and remodeled it to a very nice-looking local restaurant like you'd find in most small towns. They unfortunately, in my experience, seem to have kept much of what I disliked about it most--the slow service. Not all servers are slow! The bartenders are generally very friendly, welcoming, and proficient, though there's usually one or two of them to the forty or fifty people clustered around the bar area (due to the fact that interfacing with one of them seems to usually be the only way you can actually get service, when it comes down to it), so it's sometime still slow-going when you want to order another drink or some more food. The dining room service is... well, anymore, I just go up to the bar. It's faster, and though the servers I've dealt with aren't generally *unfriendly*, they're not usually very engaging. Or present during the visit at any point other than taking your drink order, usually taking your food order at the same time (because you've already been waiting long enough by the time they come by to have copied the entire menu into your backup flip phone using T9 functionality), delivering the food after a geologic age has passed, and bringing you the bill. As a bonus, you can always save some money on beer, because it's really hard to order more than one or two since they're never there. ...that being said, I'd recommend ordering a pitcher. Then you can at least refill your OWN drink, since they seldom come by to offer to do so. The food is good! They also have a good selection of draught beers and a full bar, so that first drink you order will probably be something you'll like. Hopefully. Good luck seeing that server again if you're displeased.

I really can't understand the overwhelmingly positive reviews this place has gotten. This place had so much potential after they rebuilt, but it hasn't lived up. Typical bar food, and the space is really cold feeling. They have two pool tables though.

This is a nice place for anything! The food was average. The waitress was not friendly. Nice & clean restaurant and restrooms. Prices average. .

My husband and I have randomly discovered this diamond in the rough. When we first pulled up, we were not too sure of our choice due to the outer appearance of the place. However, today was our 5th or 6th time there, and they never disappoint on all fronts. We are always seated right away - the staff has that small town country courtesy and are smiling and eager to serve, but not smothering. As for the food - BEST dang buffalo burger I have ever had! Although the prices have increased about $1 in the last year, you get a generously sized burger & fries and is still very reasonably priced ($7.25 + $.50 per specialty topping. Automatically comes with tomato, onion & lettuce & a garlic dill pickle!). Will we be coming back? ABSOLUTELY! B.

New Spur is much better than the old. Great local watering hole. Good bar food and nice waitresses that try hard

Visited this place for a Fundraiser they donated 50% of all meals on Feb 20th to support a local Larkspur resident's battle with cancer. I think the food deserves 3 stars but the staff friendliness/responsiveness and the fact they were gracious to host an event like this bumps it up to 4 stars. They serve sandwiches, tex mex and some fish sticks and what not. I got a fajita meat burrito with chicken and green chili while my husband got one with ground beef. I really liked my meal, chicken had good flavor, ingredients were fresh, but he thought the meat was way too greasy... shocking for him to say that considering he likes greasy food but it must have been overly greasy... Get chicken and everything is good!

For many years I would drive by the "old" Spur and wonder if it was worth trying. I always came down to the thought that it was just a bar with a couple of food items thrown in to keep you drinking longer. After a major renovation that made it look like it had to be more than a bar, and a conversation with a neighbor who thought it was pretty good, we finally (after 9 years!) gave The Spur a try. My wife had a good burger and I had a salad that was quite good. I was torn between three and four stars, but a bar with a good salad deserves to be rounded up! If you live along the Monument to Castle Rock corridor it's a really good option to have. And if you are traveling between Colorado Springs and Denver then you should know there is a decent place to stop in what otherwise appears to be the middle of nowhere!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
