Oh nooooooooooooo. Not clean. Banal food. Spotty service. Filled with geriatric folks with questionably present taste buds. I do not think so. We had the breakfast burrito, coffee, juices and such. Everything was far beneath mediocre. How do these places stay in business? The old folks I presume. I'm sorry, but no, I cannot.

If I ever eat here again I'll have to get an extra seat for the guy holding the gun to my head. I've never had such a disappointing and frankly appalling service at any food establishment. Burnt biscuits on a B+G Soggy sloppy Philly steak sandwich that I was unable to finish due to the disgusting way it was made/served. Random cardboard trash found in the middle of a huveos rancheros. The food was not even the worst part. No one likes to be rushed out immediately after receiving their food. My friends and I were given our receipt 2 minutes after being served. We then spent the rest of our time there looking for our waitress who was no where to be found. But the worst thing about this "restaurant" is the rude, swearing, irresponsible owner who had the nerve to first walk away only saying "ok" after hearing our complaints. We were then told that the philly sandwich would be taken off the bill seeing as I was unable to eat the soggy mess, only to have it not taken off and told that we were being unfair to the owner because we refused to pay it. Needless to say, we will NEVER be going back there again and I will never let anyone eat their disgusting food with horrible management.

I can't say this place is as great as some people here say it is, nor as terrible as others say it is. I can guarantee it's better than Denny's and Village Inn, but not everything about it is perfect. Generally my favorite dish is the Huevos Rancheros, hands down, the best dish they serve is this one. The reason I marked it down to a three star was because on occasion they've ruined their Biscuits and Gravy and their waffles and pancakes taste as though they came from a box of premix. Their omelets were alright as well. But if you get anything here, make sure it's the huevos rancheros.

I just moved to the area and quickly fell in love with this place, so I'm disappointed with the negative reviews on here. I've always received fast, friendly service, and so far I've stuck to their breakfasts, which are delicious. Another plus unusual in older diners - good WiFi and lots of outlets. Plus I love the vibe inside - seriously an awesome place.

Want once before, was decent. Tried to go tonight, there was 1 waitress for the entire place at 6 pm. The owner gave us menus & we never saw him again. After 14 minutes with no service AT ALL, no water, no acknowledgement, we left. The waitress apologized on our way out, she was taking the order for a table of 6 people, half of whom didn't know what they wanted even though they told her they were ready & had been there when we walked in. I wouldn't tolerate working somewhere like that but hey, I like to make money.

Love having a comfort food place so close to home. They have a friendly staff and good food. Always affordable and yummy.

Food took an hour and wasn't worth the wait, never go there. Food was rush and the green chili is a sad excuse

I realize some too young to value substance over branding fail to recognize a great breakfast, unable to see past the logoed shirt they are wearing, their loss. Friendly, fast service, fresh ingredients, huge portions, and the "specials" prices are a seldom seen bargain. This is a great family business and deserving of community support.

Fantastic home style cooking. This place reminds me of good ole country cooking, nothing fancy but everything is delicious. The cinnamon rolls are massive and on point. It feels let you step back in time when you visit this place (in a good way). Very delicious and affordable. Love the nostalgia here.

This place looks like it's been here forever, so kudos to them for the staying power. The problem with this is that I've discovered a lot of Denverites who were born around World War II and ended up being your cool grandparents got attached to eating at these family-owned places before Denver's culinary renaissance and champion eating here for decades while places that appeal to discerning taste buds continue to pop up and obliterate the menu options and flavors of the tried and true diners. This is a classic diner and breakfast place for sure. The servers are great, but the lunch and dinner entrees range from flavorless to downright scary. The chicken fried chicken, for example, comes smothered in brown gravy by default (first mistake) and neither has much taste. Comes with a side of green beans which appear to be from a can and microwaved. Mashed potatoes which are uneven: Chunky in some places and near-pureed in others. Others swear by their Mexican food but with the swarms of gringos here I do not trust the recommendation. Love a locally owned diner but if you're getting anything other than greasy spoon breakfast prepare for your glass of water to be the most savory item on the table.

I have been coming to Westwood Inn for years. I went as a kid with my parents, and now I'm bringing in my family. My kids love the trains that are on the ledges near the ceiling. The food isn't outstanding, but it's comfort food, and I get nearly the same thing every time. My husband is a fan of the biscuits and gravy. I get the french toast, which is all right. Last time I had the pork chops, but they were slightly overcooked. One of the waitresses is okay. Another we had recently was very good. We are big on manners with our kids, and she went along with that and asked them to use their manners with her. She kept our drinks refilled and pre-bussed the table, which was great. We come about two to three times a month, and we will continue to come back.

Meh. I just moved into an office across the street and a client told me how great this place was. My husband and I went with high expectations. We shared the chicken fried steak and found everything just OK. Even the reviews on here that said the coffee was good were wrong. Nothing was terrible, mind you. But it doesn't even measure up to Denny's. We will never go back.

I guess I can't be too harsh, the prices are good and if you are really hung over this place works. Staff was kind of like zombies though, completely detached. Food came out quickly regardless . Gravy for the biscuits tasted like flour, they probably add the sausage but guessing the rest comes out of a bag. Hash Browns probably the same, mushy and not great but I added some green chili and that helped. You ll probably need a nap after eating here.

I recently moved to Lakewood, a neighbor recommended the Westwood Inn's cheeseburger, claiming that it was the best in Denver. When my nephew visited me last Saturday evening, I suggested that we give it a shot since it was nearby and we were both famished. I ordered the recommended cheeseburger expecting something special, boy was I disappointed. This cheeseburger would have enjoyed life better as shoe leather, it was thin and overcooked. My nephew ordered the breakfast burrito with ground beef which was overloaded with beef and potato. I do not recommend the Westwood Inn and judging by their lack of customers, I do not stand alone.

Stay away, unless you are a regular...they will NOT WAIT ON YOU...only the regulars get their orders so..... We left and will never return....the kicker...the waitress had the nerve to tell us they were backed up in the kitchen....and we were one of two tables....and the second table came in after us and received their order before us....and we order the EXACT same food....dray away

Foods okay, people are nice here. Breakfast is usually better . The portions will never leave you hungry unless you the world champion for eating hotdogs or something. Its basically a diner and everything that entails. Outdated inside, nice folks that like to talk to you and such, homey in a way. Its nice and not a chain. Prices are good for food and amount. Never had an issue here and the coffee is always diner good.

Everything on the menu is delicious! I never have to wait for a coffee nor ever have had to ask. They are always a go to for dining out. Id rather pay 10 bucks more for tip than eat at Carls Jr for ex. and wonder what just happened.

Four months into 2012 and I still haven't found my happy medium between healthy green foods and comfort food. A few things I DO know it that i sometimes hate healthy food, but I always love comfort food. Coming here helped me connect with my comfort food crave. This place can be missed, except for someone like me who LOVES to find places that appear locally owned, non-chains, area favorites. Building is older, and so in the interior when you go inside. Seat yourself, and get ready to eat. I ordered a french dip. My friend ordered hashbrowns, eggs, green chili ( ugh.. i am NOT a chili person) .... Friendly service, you can tell there are lot of regulars, but it didn't make us feel any different.... our drinks stayed filled, and out stomach's were about to burst by the time we left. The food was AMAZING. It was nice that we can order both breakfast and lunch at the same time...... and the service was quick. Amen to that!

The service today was really slow. I hate sitting at the counter and seeing my food just a few feet away sit and grow cold whitle the waitress serves everyone but me. The French dip was average.

Lakewood, CO breakfast joint tour - Stop #1 - Westwood Inn This is one of those places you always drive by, but never try. Finally, yesterday morning, a friend and I stopped here for breakfast on a whim. Westwood Inn has the traditional East-Coast diner feel when you first walk in...although half the menu features Mexican breakfast options. Basic furnishings, crowded with lots of families. Although crowded, we were seated very promptly. The menu was large, but not as large as the Greek diners you find in the East. The service staff was very friendly and attentive. And, they kept the coffee coming...as long as we wanted it. I had the traditional breakfast consisting of eggs, bacon, toast, hash browns. It was very good, although the bacon could have been cooked more. Very disappointed they did not have grits on the menu, my dining companion chose the biscuits and gravy as a backup - which was extremely tasty. The gigantic, cinnamon buns at the next table looked like a delight - will have to try one of those the next time.

Never been here before and was a little skeptical about coming because the appearance is a little run down. I'm glad I came in, the food is amazing. I would recommend coming for breakfast. The breakfast sandwich was amazing... like a BLT with ham and egg... the Huevos Rancheros is enough to feed a family of four and to die for!

This is one of my all time favorite places to go for breakfast. The breakfast burrito with sausage is my favorite. They use cut up link sausage in it and it is big enough to share. We like to share that and the biscuits and gravy. I can never order a breakfast burrito anywhere else because it just doesn't compare. Love the avocado green interior, brown coffee mugs and the trains. This place is classic.

My go to breakfast place. It's not dirty,as others have stated on here. Well worn sure. The food is straightforward,Americana, and their Mexican is pretty decent as well. Yeah there are old people there, so what? Service a bit slow? Maybe because it's busy and everybody wants to eat there! Sketchy people??? Try working class. Food not fancy enough for your refined pallet. They make no claims to be such a place. So if you like slicked up franchised places with trendy hipster people siting around taking pictures of their food to post on Instagram this isn't your place. Go back to 17th St If the real ness of this place scares you, stick to the Egg and I or Village Inn. I love this place

We love to go to breakfast on the weekends. The food here is just solid. Good service, good specials and a nice, clean restaurant. The only thing that makes me uncomfortable is that I feel like I'm a visitor. It seems like this place is just for the regulars. But maybe some day we could graduate to a friendlier status! We will definately be back. Love the gravy!

Simple fare and diner menu. Big servings with lots of gravy and cheese. Would have rated higher but eggs overcooked and coffee was really really bad... they need to invest in a better coffee maker! Service good. I liked the classic hash browns too.

Great breakfast! Had their Ranch Breakfast that is a crispy chile relleno, 2 eggs, and hash browns. Deeelicious! not one of the most inexpensive breakfast places in the Denver area but well worth the price in my opinion

This place doesn't look like much from outside but my boyfriend & I love it!! They have fresh homemade soup every day and great ever changing daily special meals. Nice courteous servers & the foods always fresh & home made. Their fried chicken dinner is great; it's a bit sweet & salty with good sized pieces. They have a Big Biscuit Breakfast that's great & perfect for two people. My boyfriend got their steak tacos when they were on special one day and they were delicious. We go regularly & have never had a bad meal or bad service!! And the mimosa Sunday's always help!!

We have only gone here for breakfast. Its pretty consistent. When they have the country fried steak special - get it! Its fresh steak instead of the standard frozen cutlet. Also today's special was a smothered shredded beef tortilla - totally awesome!!

Definite hole in the wall/greasy spoon type of place but it's totally mellow & good comfort food. Friendly staff & the kind of place where a kid can go & you don't have to "shush" them all the time. Older crowd but very friendly. You can tell they have a lot of regulars. Daily specials & very affordable with large portion sizes. Service is usually very quick. Not fancy but a good diner. Will be back.

Do you have order wars? My wife and I keep a running tally (like points in Whose Line Is It Anyway?) of who orders the better dish. I usually win. Not at the Westwood Inn. I'm currently winless... My latest visit I tried the Big Pancake Breakfast. It was okay. The pancakes were good, the bacon could use some help. You can tell they precook it all and try and heat it real quick when you order it so it seems freshly cooked... they fail. The wife-lady ordered a sirloin steak breakfast burrito with chunks of steak the size of golf balls. I was jealous. I'm not a big hashbrowns fan so it would be wrong to criticize them. I would give the food I've ordered 2 stars, but I'm lucky enough to be able try someone else's dishes, which would lean more towards 4 stars. The service is pretty good and they are wicked quick with the coffee. if your cup ever gets empty it must be because you chugged it and hid your cup. Oh, and the prices are amazing. Super affordable.

On our way back from skiing, we had intended to go to Maria Elena's on Wadsworth but it's now closed down. I thought this would work. Not so much. Odd odd older, ZZ Top bearded, smoky smelling crowd and place. Sign at the door said "Please seat yourself." It should have "Please seat yourself, then we'll ask you to move for a weird reason." We (hubby, 2 kids and I) sat in a window booth that was all set up and the waitress asked us to move. The reason? There was a table of people coming in that were very picky, and they liked that table because they could keep an eye on their car. Hmm. Okay. So we slid into an equally stank booth. The food was not terrible, but not great. It was cheap and the to go order we had for the kid at home came quickly. I wouldn't go back. Even for biscuits mentioned in the other reviews.

The biscuits here rock! I love biscuits when they are not made in an industrial factory (like Sysco) or heated in the microwave. This place grills their biscuits and they are great with strawberry jam and a side of bacon or smothered in their yummy sausage gravy. You can also get the gravy with bacon instead of sausage which is also delicious. The coffee is okay and the service is hit or miss depending on the waitress. The interior is kind of 60's/ 70's dark wood tones and brick. They have nice big windows and a fireplace which they sometimes turn on.

So I returned to the Westwood Inn on Saturday morning. Ordered the special, which was the Breakfast Burrito with Sirloin. 1 word: amazing. Huge chunks of steak, hashbrowns, eggs, cheese, and smothered with green chile. It was the best breakfast burrito of my life. The menu only has it with bacon or sausage...which I imagine is not nearly as good as the steak. But maybe you can special order it, if it's not on special? Definitely worth a try.

Most restaurants have that corporate, generic feel to them; this restaurant is the opposite of that. Westwood Inn, a hole in the wall food joint on 7612 W. 5th Ave has a family owned feel to it instead of a food chain feel. The exterior is far from perfect, the paint is chipping in some spots and you can tell they don't have the money to completely remodel the building. Parking seems to be always hard to find because of the tiny parking lot. One thing I really like when I walk in is the sign stating "Please seat yourself". You can choose which ever booth or table you want without having to bother the server about your picky taste in seating. The servers make their presence known by greeting you from any side of the room. The floors have that broken in look and the walls could use a fresh coat of paint. The crumbs on the floor and somewhat wiped down tables might bother the average customer but, it doesn't bother me. The food is incredible here; it tastes homemade instead of factory made. The recipes they have are very unique and they add their own special touches to the food. The best part of their menu? The breakfast burrito. It's huge and it stretches to both sides of the plate. The green chili smothered over the burrito is enough to make you salivate. For me, service means everything to my experience in a restaurant. If a server leaves a dominate impression on me I will not only tip well but, I will return many more times. I will be returning here in the near future. The servers are all very nice and treat you almost as if you are a regular. If you're into home-style cooking, friendly staff and good food, this is the place for you.
