I rarely ever give one star to places unless they really, really tick me off. Food: It's not like I've never paid $12.91 for sushi before. Heck, I've paid twice that for the good stuff and I'm sure a lot of people have shelled out even more during a single meal. I did not expect, however, to only receive 7 of the thinnest slices known to mankind. I ordered the Texas Tarantula roll ( yelp.com/biz_photos/F9X2… ), which is basically a spider roll (deep fried crab) with eel on top. This was the biggest rip off of my life. Not only was there almost no crab in it save the fried shell, but it was like they used midget eels for my roll. Also, this place is cheap enough to put lettuce in their rolls instead of cucumbers. And 7 pieces?!? That is sooooo not standard. This didn't even taste remotely good. Service: When I first came into the restaurant I was given a gruff greeting. I wasn't sure I wanted to eat here so I said I just wanted to look at the menu. They seemed to take offense at this. I don't know why, but they shoved me into the nastiest corner with tons of traffic when there was almost no one in the restaurant at the time. I asked to order as soon as I sat down because I already knew what I wanted. The waiter asked me if I was in a hurry in a very rude way. No, I was just freaking hungry and didn't want to waste my time staring at a wall since I was eating alone. Also, they treated me like I didn't know how to order off the sushi menu, telling me how to fill it out very condescendingly. Hellllooo. I'm *insert expletive* Asian. Synopsis: Worst sushi + service I have ever had. Period.

I came into this place on one of those, "let's search for something yelp worthy days." We came in right at three, so we got to indulge on happy hour, which was awesome. Pretty cheap rolls, totally pumped. I'm no Sushi expert by any means, and there's tons of reviews of people trashing this place. But, either I came in on a delivery day or the only people who reviewed here grew up next to an ocean. I mean, I've had better sushi, way better. But for the price it was good, our bill was like twenty bucks and we got three rolls and an order of nigiri and a seaweed salad. So I left pretty full. We got the wywan special or somthing, basically a fancy cali roll tempura fried, wouldn't sugest it, sushi really shouldn't be a gut bomb. I'd honestly compare the sushi to the stuff you get a whole foods or safe way.

Best sushi in Lakewood. I love fun, different, and tasty sushi. The poke is amazing! We told the chef to surprise us and whatever we got was delicious. We have taken the sushi class a few times and learned tons about sushi and how to make it. I would recommend that as a gift for sushi lovers too. Nice to have this gem on the west side of town.

Service was terrible. Yes, the waitress came by a couple of times, but she wouldn't refill water unless specifically asked to do so, water glasses sat empty for near an hour. Three orders went in at the same time, our sub-par sushi came out before our appetizers. The calamari tasted like rubbery fish sticks, was cut into the shape of french fries and in lou of crunchy was grease drenched. The "cherry blossom"roll one friend got was significantly smaller and more dried out than the one the other friend got. The first smaller one even had tiny slivers of salmon, as if the chef couldn't be bothered to cut a new piece of salmon. The rice was hard, the other rolls were no more impressive than the "cherry blossom" not somewhere I'll be eating again any time soon

Strength - Weakness - Opportunity - Threat: S - decor W - 25-minute wait for your food after you've ordered. W - no hoisin sauce for an "asian blend" restaurant. W - the chicken for the chicken katsu was dry. W - witnessed the server mess up other tables' orders TWICE. W - a guest said that they'd come back another time because there was a lack of prompt seating. W - Tuesday's $1 sushi only pertains to nigiri (or something of the sort) where it's one ball of rice with a thin layer of sushi. what a rip off O - eat somewhere else. T - be careful where you sit. the servers are bit of a klutz where they'll bump into you when their arms are full of dirty dishes.

I went here for lunch yesterday and have had dinner there several times. YUM! So thrilled there is sushi out by my work. They have some interesting rolls. The one with spicy tuna inside and out, was awesome! We also had one called the Mexican roll...jalapeno and cilantro with crab and tuna (I think). The service is always great as well, happy to serve me even at 9pm (when they close). One of the best parts about this place to me is that you can get brown rice for all of your sushi! I love this! I am not sure where else they do that! Scores extra pointage from me!

My husband and I live down the street and we eat here all of the time and have never had a problem. The service is always prompt and the food always delicious. Sure, there have been things that we've tried that we didn't like, but that's the case with any restaurant. We especially like their "Asian Fusion" idea, how unique! We think there is almost a Hawaiian flair on the menu, but that's not all, because you can also get your Ramen "fix". We eat out a lot and are always looking for something new and different, so that's probably why we like the place so much.

After reading some of the bad reviews for this place, I am confused. We have eaten sushi here close to twenty times and have always received great service and above average food. Based on some of the reviews, maybe they treat their frequent diners better than first timers. We usually order the specialty rolls (check the board), which have been excellent. The happy hour beers are very reasonable, too. I am not a big fan of the basic rolls.

Ghin is a very modern trendy looking restaurant, and you will feel obligated to act like a sushi snob when you walk in just because of how modern everything is. I've only ever sat at the bar, where friendships with the chef's are on a much more friendly scale than most ( I have to be ready to duck for cover whenever I walk in, as the sous chef keeps an arsenal of nerf guns behind the bar, and is a very good shot). As far as food, they have just about any offering you could get from any other sushi place around, with fresh flown in fish also just like any other good sushi place around. Usually they will make stuff that isn't on the menu if you don't see it and aren't a prick about it. Chef Mike actually started ordering a certain type of smoked squid because my friend was persistent enough to keep asking for it, (I stand corrected, you can be a prick when requesting special items) and they started ordering a six pack of bud light on Thursdays just because we often come in on that night and were such pains in the butt about their cheap beer selection. To sum it up if your a sushi snob they might rub you the wrong way, but it's most likely due to how laid back they are, you won't have to come in and try to impress them with your "sushi knowledge" or try to order stuff in foreign languages. The chef is about as skilled as you can get in the states with lots of interesting stories about his time in japan, and is down to earth enough to admit that he loves ingredients like spam and fast food, which sits perfect with me.

Great marketing and packaging but the location (in a strip mall) and more importantly, food, left a LOT to be desired. Like boyfriend said, it's like they kept the alcohol cheap to compensate for the food. The lack of traffic in the restaurant also reminded me to never again break the cardinal rule of eating at an empty Japanese restaurant (no customers = low fish turnover = cloudy colored sashimi) - especially in landlocked Denver of all places! It went from bad to immediately worse. We started with mainstays such as agedashi tofu, which was prepared with firm tofu (who the hell makes agedashi tofu with FIRM tofu!) in a swath of thick soy sauce instead of the dashi broth it's usually served in. The Ghin beef roll came out in burrito-sized portions but with a tiny dipping sauce plate- and the beef was dry and a poor representation of what kalbi should be. But the worst wasn't over yet. The sushi was the worst we've had in a long time- scratch that, maybe ever. Forget slightly stale, this stuff looked AND tasted as though it had been in the freezer for weeks. They even had the audacity to sprinkle pepper on the hamachi (to mask the unfreshness to the unseasoned sushi eater)- which in my books, is a complete sin. The unagi on the roll we ordered wasn't even glazed- it was as if the chef had rubbed the sauce off with a towel! Who wants to eat dry unagi??? But what really topped off the entire meal was the ikura nigiri; I nearly gagged when I bit into it. Ladies and gentleman, it should be a crime to serve ikura with eggs that aren't fresh! I At least the service was good- our water glasses were never left empty and our server came by several times to ask how everything was- at which point we were forced to lie and grimly nod, smile and take another swish of sake. At least they had some decently-priced alcohol. But we've learned two lessons: 1) never leave Denver metro area and 2) never go to Ghin Rocks!

The atmosphere is pretty good, but the food left a lot to be desired. Had one sushi roll that was pretty good, but the rest of the food was average at best. The short ribs were tiny, not very flavorful and came with a GIANT portion of white rice and GIANT portion of mac salad (that was primarily mayo). The service wasn't great, not horrible. I'd expect decent service when a place is empty (as the restaurant was when we visited). Food ordered at temperature was way overcooked. We won't be back.

Love the sushi, but the food on the menu from what I've heard from friend's isn't as tasty... I've only ordered sushi and it's ALWAYS yummy!

The sushi here is absolutely terrible. Never fresh, overpriced, and not cut properly. I've eaten here twice, and have had a stomachache afterwords both times. The service is also very slow, despite the fact that there have never been other diners when I have gone. I will never return.

We went there on their $1 sushi night. We thought that it was a great deal until 2 1/2 hours later when we were still starving and still waiting for sushi. On top of the unreasonable wait the sushi was mediocre at best. Save your 1$ for McDonald's, you will get much better food.

I absolutely love this place. Every time, I go there I walk out satisfied. I am on a very special and restrictive diet right now, and the folks at Ghin were so nice about me asking for a special order. I am only supposed to eat certain meats and I absolutely can't have any oils or butter. I ordered the tuna poke as an appetizer, without the chips, seaweed salad and oil. I told the sushi chef all about my diet, he asked questions, and filled me in on exactly how my order should be, for me to stay within my diet's guidelines. I was very, very pleased. I also ordered sashimi and the chef educated me, and told me what the leanest fishes were that they had on hand. He made me a sashimi plate with some of those types of fish, as well as a salad in which I ate with lemon juice. This place is absolutely amazing. I walked out, feeling as satisfied as I would have, if I wasn't on a crazy diet. And the staff, is great as well. They make me feel very comfortable every time I go in, almost like a friend. It makes me have no problem going to the restaurant and eating by myself. Thank you so much Ghin. You guys truly rock!

I have been to many sushi bars, and I got to say Ghin is one of my favorite places. I went for the first time yesterday with a buddy of mine, and had a blast from the top notch service to the BEST Sushi you can find in Colorado hands down. I would recommend this place to any sushi connousieur. I challenge any of you out there that if you try this place, you will fall in love with the fresh fish and the incredible chefs who run the show! And you will keep coming back for MORE!!!

Went there twice this week and both times the service is atrocious. I hate to give bad reviews unless the first time is not a fluke and that's why I went back twice. If you want real slow service for mediocre food, then this place is for you. Who staffs a sushi restaurant with one chef on a Sunday night at 7pm? Seriously?! Especially when the chef is not your usual sushi chef.

I was unimpressed. My lunch special was $8.50 and did not come with a salad or soup like most Asian kitchens. This isn't Cherry Creek, Boulder or LoDo - it's a strip mall in Lakewood for gosh sakes! I wish I would have had a beer or a glass of wine since the other reviewer said alcohol was inexpensive. Instead I ordered hot tea and was charged $6.00!!!!! When I asked the waiter to explain the $15.70 price tag for lunch (not knowing tea was $6.00) he was quite flippant with his response. If you are looking for a good value, Ghin is not the place. I will definitely not return.

Beautiful interior decorating, and when I went a while back, their choice in music was fantastic. We ordered the mussels, and stared with our bulged eyes at eachother at the near nothingness on our plate. Absolutely PATHETIC portions. Places that charge 8 dollars for two people to have pretty much one bite is going to run you out of business really quick-especially when other places taste better around town and give you bigger portions. I will never be back.

I have to agree with Christina's assessment. Being an asian guy myself, I've eaten my fair share of sushi at cheap-to-high quality places. Admittedly, I went a bit after the lunch rush, to avoid the musical chairs parking lot. Even then, there were only one or two other patrons other than me at the restaurant; the rest of the parking lot seemed to be going to the Subway or Jason's Deli next door. I was offered tea and miso soup before I even was given a chance to look at the menu. I had reviewed the menu briefly before going, so I knew in the back of my mind that these were not complimentary items. I was still shocked when the bill came, and these items were $6 and $4 respectively. The tea (green tea infused with tangerine) was ok, but came in a chipped pot that made pouring difficult without spilling, and not worth the full price. The miso was horrible; they put too much ginger in it, making it very bitter. I didn't even bother finishing half of it; my server did not ask me how it was before taking it away. For my meal, I ordered a Rainbow roll and a Cherry Blossom. The prices were competitive to my usual sushi haunts ($10 and $12 respectively), but as Christina mentioned, the sushi was a bit old (freshly made, but old). It was still palatable, but not as good as the price inferred. Their 'quick' lunch menu is in the $8-10 range, and may be worth trying, but I will definitely not go there again, since the miso was awful. I'd rather go to Kobe An's across the street, even if they are a bit more pricey with less selection.

If I could give less than 1 star I would. The worst service and food that I have had anywhere in years. Everything from the homeless looking waiter to the tainted soy sauce (how do u screw up soy sauce) HORRIBLE, I MEAN DOWN RIGHT NASTY ROLLS AND FISH. We ate nothing and they would take anything off the bill, we should have walked out, but wanted to leave so bad that we just paid and left. . NEVER EVER EVER SAY THAT YOU WERENT WARNED. Anybody that likes this place has never had good sushi.

Whoa, I should have read the reviews on this place before I rushed off on a Tuesday night to take advantage of their $1 sushi special. It's nice to see sushi moving further west of Denver proper, but the stuff this place is serving doesn't even deserve to be called sushi. When our plate was placed on the table my boyfriend said I'm gonna need a bunch of wasabi for this. Then I noticed the fishy odor and was in complete agreement. I actually smelled each piece to find the culprit, which turned out to be the scallops. I left those for him to eat (he didnt get sick, but he does have a strong stomach). The yellow tail was the only seemingly fresh fish on the plate. The salmon was very dry and old, the tobiko had a slightly off flavor, the eel was cold, the egg wasnt prepared properly and the seared red snapper may as well have been jerky, yes jerky! Also they give you Chinese chopsticks here, I mean really, I know they want to be a fusion place but that's just wrong. Our server was very good but I cant even give them an extra star for that because the food was just that bad. Stay away from this place!!! There is no excuse for serving people old dry sushi.

    (1)
  • J K.

The food wasn't bad... and that is the sole reason for 2 stars. The staff is slow. The service is slow. The kitchen is slow. But that doesn't explain why it took 45 minutes to get lunch. When there was only one other table. And there were two servers, and at least 3 more people in the kitchen. We ordered easy stuff. They just took their sweet time.

    (2)
  • Nicole S.

No need to fear the fusion. The menu is certainly adventurous, though nonetheless appetizing. Grabbing an early lunch was a little lonely but the place slowly started to fill in. A Groupon enabled us to splurge on the lamb and miso mashers (best mashed potatoes ever!) and a couple of specialty rolls. Will say that the lamb was a little bloody for being "medium," and I wish that the waiter had told me about the backside of the sushi menu to start with (I almost missed out on all of the goodies!), but overall, not a bad experience.

  • M D.

Food was alright. Not the best but not the worst. My complaint is how long we had to wait for our food. It was close to 30 minutes and the place wasn't even busy. Maybe 3 other tables. There was only one guy there, who was the hostess along with being our waiter for the night. He was in casual shorts and a top with Crocs which was a bit unusual for being a waiter. He was nice, but it was a bit odd. Along with that, while we were walking into the restaurant, we seen a guy outside having a cigarette and turns out that guy was the same guy that seated and waited on us. We had to wait a few minutes for him to finish is cigarette and come in to seat us. All in all, the place is ok. Not the best. They should really work on their customer service out of all things.

    (2)
  • Lisa L.

This place is a sad mess and they're going to poison someone, if they haven't already. After raising a piece of sushi to my mouth and getting hit with an off smell, I sent back two rolls and four pieces of nigiri. The house specialty, Macaroni and Cheese Roll should have been my warning: if you ever see anything similar, get up and walk out immediately. I noticed that Groupon is offering a deal. I won't bother, but if you do, know this: Groupon backs up its vendors. If you go and have a bad meal, contact Groupon and they will give you credit toward another purchase.

  • Lina S.

Terrible service on a steady night. I'd rather pay more money and be well taken care of. Our waitress, who didn't even introduce herself didn't come by our table for thirty minutes and failed at making sure we were doing well. So disappointed.

    (1)
  • Brian L.

We came here for a few drinks while they prepared the sushi for us to go. The drinks are very reasonably priced and the service was very good. The sushi hit the spot and we found it to be very fresh (including the nigiri, which someone commented on before). We loved the Mexican roll. The shrimp tempura roll was thinner than I would have liked. The kids loved the California rolls and the lettuce wraps were also very fresh and good. We used a Groupon and so I think we got a great deal.

Wanted to go to Kobe An but realized they had moved to Cherry Creek. As time was an issue, we decided to try Ghin which is about a block away from Kobe An. Upon entering we immediately saw it was almost entirely empty on a Friday night at 530. We soon found out why. POOR Customer service. After waiting 40 minutes we finally received our food. The waiter said the reason for the delay was they were taking care of to go orders. The sushi was mediocre at best (I have had better sushi from King Soopers)

Wow. The service was so unforgivably bad it has prompted my very first review on Yelp today. First, the sushi: Generous pieces of yellowtail, although it wasn't that wonderful butter like consistency I love about good hamachi. I ordered a dragon roll and it was surprisingly bland. I hadn't been to Ghin for few years, maybe just got them on an off day. I walked in at bit after 4:00 and there was only one other couple at a table. The waiter, whom I recognized from years earlier (late 40's/early 50's gay gentleman) followed me inside and immediately asked if i would be using Groupon. I thought that was fairly rude; why? Do I look like someone who wouldn't come in unless I had bought a discount dinner? I sat at the sushi bar and ordered a glass of wine and water, which was brought promptly. I ordered my sushi, but because the chef wasn't behind the bar, requested a move to a small table by the window. My arm is in a sling having broken my humerus 6 weeks previously. Despite my obvious infirmity, the waiter stood by while I struggled to gather my things for the move, offering no help although he was not doing anything else at that moment. That would have just been common courtesy! Strike three: I had only two pieces of sushi left when finished, so I asked the waiter if he would bring me just a small piece of Saran wrap instead of Styrofoam? "No. I can only offer you a small box." Well, now, that's just b.s., isn't it? Afterall, what IS that clear wrap every sushi house I've ever been to wraps their seafood in to keep it fresh? Apparently his customers aren't worthy of this expensive wrap, so i had to struggle out holding my things in one hand, including a bulky styrophom box, which doesn't keep anything fresh, especially sushi. I WILL NOT EVER BE BACK. I'd recommend taking a drive to Littleton to Fontana, where I've never been disappointed in food or service.

  • Kylee A.

The food was OK. Not the greatest not the worst (with the exception of the calamari which was the worst I've ever had). We had a spread of different sushi from the California roll to the Lolo roll. Not impressed but not disappointed for what we spent (bought a Groupon that basically gave us half off). Probably won't return for a second visit

  • Sandi O.

Poor service and although the soup and sushi was ok our main dish was not good. The chicken tasted mushy and the hamburger drenched in source. We will not return...

I don't understand these reviews. Maybe things have changed but I've been going here since spring of '09 and I love this place. I find them approachable and open to adjust dishes to my changes. They have even gone to other sushi places to imitate (with their spin) my fav dishes. I find them creative friendly and have not had a problem with the fish. I'm meeting friends there for my birthday meal. I say go again and say Bruce sent you!

Decided to try this restaurant for a late lunch today. We had the seaweed cucumber salad which was delicious, and the crazy noodles which were good. What was not good was the dirty table where we were seated and the loud conversation between our waitress and one of the employees in the back. He was complaining about someone dropped a couple of f-bombs and the proceeded to speak about someone's medical condition, what medications they were on, and demonstrated the hacking sounds this person makes (not appetizing). Oh yes, his mother also avoids taking medication as much as possible. Even though the food was good, we will not be back.

We were looking for a new sushi place to try in the west 'burbs, besides our normal "Wasabi Sushi" pick. We decided on Ghin, having driven past it numerous times. We got sake to begin with, and the mac n cheese egg rolls. OMG these egg rolls were delicious!!! The jalapeno strawberry reduction that came with to dip, was, let's say, very weird sounding, but it TOTALLY went with the egg rolls. It had enough of a kick to give the egg rolls that perfect fried flavor and spice all in one. For sushi, we had the Spicy Mongoose roll and the Red Dragon roll. I enjoyed the Spicy Mongoose, the pieces were huge though and I could barely fit them in my mouth! Our entrees were --Ghin Ramen...they need some help with the broth on this one. I think my boyfriend put about 3 tbs of soy sauce before there was any hint of flavor. --Kalua Pig - slow roasted pork shoulder with sauteed cabbage. It was okay, but I kind of wish I would have chosen something else. I think this could use something to spice it up. The cabbage to start with already doesn't have much flavor, but yeah, wish it would have had a kick or something like that. We had the Sho Chiku Bai Ginjo Sake +5 (cold). It was very good, not too dry and not too sweet at all. Not a bad deal at all either. We got a whole bottle of it for just $12. All in all, the service was pretty good, no complaints there. Our entrees just lacked flavor, and needed something, we just couldn't put a finger on what it was it needed. The sushi was great, and the mac n cheese egg rolls were really really good.

My husband and I went to Ghin last night for dinner at the recommendation of our neighbor. Reading the other reviews it's as though we ate at a different restaurant than the folks who have had terrible experiences there. Although it was a Friday night the restaurant was relatively slow and had a mellow vibe. We sat at the sushi bar and eventually engaged in conversation with Chef Mike...who by the way is aware of the many Yelp reviews, but as he put it they were still working out the kinks of the new restaurant and despite the reviews he prefers to remain a hidden gem without a lot of hype and write ups so that they can maintain fair pricing and not gouge their customers and be able to still have fun at what they are creating. Having eaten at some of the best sushi joints in the country we were pleasantly surprised by the menu and the many interesting takes on very traditional items, like the fresh wasabi, Bangkok Edamame and the ginger mint salmon nigiri. And even despite one mix up, the service was spot on and the food was wonderful and the fish very fresh. If you like (cold) sake definitely try the Organic Sho Chiku Bai Organic Sake! I say if you went to Ghin on a busy day/night try it again on slow night, sit at the bar, say hello to Chef Mike and prepare yourself for a new experience and forgive the past. p.s. Oh, and for all of you west and east coasters, of which I am one, Ghin gets their fish just like all of the other joints in town or those on the coasts...flown in via FedEx. It's no secret that, NY, SF or LA, there isn't a worm hole where sushi restaurants can obtain immediately delivery of fish. How do you think Nobu Matsuhisa gets their fish in ASPEN...they too are landlocked but its darn good sushi, too!

Ordered from here about a month ago and really enjoyed the rolls. I did take away so I'm not sure about how their service is. I didn't have any issues with them and loved the food. Definitely recommended.

I'm not a true sushi eater I admit, I only eat cucumber rolls and those are hard to mess up and they actually do a good job of making them here. They also have the best fried rice!! But the service is sooo bad that I have to leave a bad review. I've had the same waitress twice and she's the worst. Never refills drinks unless you ask, she never even checked up on us and we were the only ones there!! Totally unacceptable. The rolls took forever to come out...again we were the only ones there so why the long wait? When we finally saw her walk out of the kitchen she stopped to talk to her coworkers for a few minutes WITH our food in her hands . Also she forgot to bring out my friends drink...I mean really? I've never not tipped before, oh wait I didn't tip here because this woman did not deserve a tip!!! All around bad vibe from this place.

Tuesday night is $1 Sushi night! They have a special menu for the $1 sushi, but it had several of my favs on it so I was very pleased. Service was Fantastic! The Cajun Albacore was something I had never had and it was really tasty!! The spicy tuna shooters were really good also. The chef's made us a special plate, and it was a special roll in the shape of a happy face!!

We didn't do sushi, but we ate very well. The lamb was perfect, with a really succulent sauce, and our son loved his noodle site fry in a sweet chili sauce just right for kids. Service was friendly and fast.

This place is very bland and not very fresh and quality. The customer service was bad as well; it seemed as though they knew the food was bad and overpriced and they were trying to avoid us.... For about $80 for 2 people all we got was upset from getting ripped off and stomach aches. They also didn't say goodbye as we left, very sketchy. It more seemed we got dirty looks. The music was super old cypress hill and other awful blasts from the past. Also strange there wasn't an Asian working in the place, I don't mean to sound bad but that isn't the usual at sushi places.

I have eaten here several times and I'm always pleased with the food. The lasagna roll is one of my favorites, so is their sriracha edamame. The service is never exceptional, but the food makes up for that!

Maybe it's bad timing? But I would rate Ghin Sushi at most 2.5 stars. When we were there for dinner the place was really cold, I didn't dare take off my coat, and the water in the bathroom was bone freezing when I tried to wash my hands! Hopefully it was just their heater not functioning properly (our server kind of confirmed that) and not because the owner was too cheap to keep the restaurant heated. Our waitress was nice, very down to earth, but definitely did not give very good recommendations. It was our fault to doubt ourselves and asked for second opinion. I loved their menu, everything looked too good.... to be true, unfortunately. Besides the regular menu, she gave us a "specials" slip and a photo card of some house-invented fusion pasta, which looked really good but we settled for Ramen at the end because it was so cold. It was ok, nothing too special and left me curious about whether we should've ordered pasta. The Mac & Cheese eggrolls (appetizer) were not as special as it sounds but it did come out freshly fried. We'd wanted to get sushi that has Tataki beef in it but they were out of that ingredient so I asked her to recommend a roll from the "specials" slip and she said to try the "candy cane" roll. Sounded festive, right? Turned out it was just pieces of sushi shaped in a big "J" to resemble a candy cane. Most of the ingredients in the roll were raw fish, and I should've listened to my gut and gotten a fancy unagi roll or something. As for our entree, we were in between the Kalua Pig (roasted pork) and the Loco Moco (burger with rice cake in place of bun). I was indecisive because I was afraid the "slow roasted pork shoulder" was nothing more than just slowed cooker shredded pork, but she assured us it's a lot more special than that and that she had customers constantly raving about it. And that we shouldn't get the burger because it's too greasy etc. Guess what? My fear was realized the instant I saw the Kalua Pig plate, it was worse than I'd imagined, it was colorless and totally under seasoned. We had to pour so much soy sauce over it the pork got cold as a result! But at least when I said I didn't want mac salad as a side because we'd already had mac & cheese egg rolls, she happily substituted with some sauteed veggies.

I would highly suggest spending your money elsewhere. The fish here tasted old and it seemed they used salt to try and cover this up. There are some great sushi places around this area, but Ghin is by far not one of them. The sushi at King Soopers is way better than what you will find here. They always have groupon deals and deals on others sites for a reason, it is the only way they can get people in the door. Believe me when I say even with a groupon you are not getting a good deal eating here. The service was okay, but the food is horrible.

i walk in there for lunch the place was empty that was a bad sign. So I sit down as I please and the waitress gives me attitude because I chose to sit at a table that seats 6, hardly 6 the place was empty. Maybe I was just in a bad mood. I was hoping to get a good lunch for $10. I ordered 2 $5 rolls. Some rolls were priced at $12. The portions were tiny, guess thats my problem with sushi I could go $60 easy and still be hungry. As Im eating the waitress was talking to the chef about a strip club. Im trying to eat!! By 2 pm I was raiding the vending machine. Very poor smh

I'm a little surprised to see so many low ratings here on yelp. I generally tend to agree with the common yelper consensus on a restaurant, but this time I'm definitely going to disagree. Now, first, I should say that I did not go to Ghin for sushi. Yes, it is in the name of the restaurant, but if I'm going to spend 'sushi money' I'm going to spend it at a place dedicated to the craft. Not to stereotype (ok, actually, this is exactly to stereotype), but I'm probably not going to get sushi made by a guy who looks like a Hell's Angel. He may be an amazing chef, but I'd prefer my sushi to be made by a guy who looks like Mr. Miyagi. Maybe it's just me. That being said, the food that I did have at Ghin was topnotch. We started with an order of their sriracha edamame, which was amazing (seriously, go there and order this, tell them John B. sent you- they won't know what this means, but tell them anyway). Most of those around the table went for Thai dishes, but I have a hard time passing up Hawaiian food when I see it, and so I went for the island classic- loco moco. Totally not an Asian dish, I understand this. Few things are more American than a hamburger, eggs, and gravy (even if it is on rice). However, when put together, they form something that transcends the traditional contiguous 48 from which these ingredients arise. If you're not familiar with a loco moco (you should be!), it is basically a hamburger patty on top of rice, covered with a couple of fried eggs and smothered in a brown gravy. The hamburger was, truly, one of the best burgers I've had in recent memory, it was inspiring. The gravy was delicious, and what's not to like about rice and eggs? I tasted a few of the Thai dishes, which were also very good, but I don't for a second regret going island for the meal. The atmosphere is very nice, the restaurant very clean and inviting, and the staff quite friendly and helpful.

Too bad I didn't look at Yelp before going here. Went on a whim at lunchtime. Actually, it was mid-afternoon and the place was almost empty. Ordered salmon sashimi and an avacado roll to go. I was on my lunch hour and it took almost a half hour. The sushi chef was so busy talking the a customer at the sushi bar that he just wasn't moving. The food was just okay and the service was poor. I'll check Yelp next time!

Something is wrong here. Service and food have changed. In a slow, basically empty restaurant, still waited 5 minutes to be acknowledged at the front and 10 minutes to be seated. We've been here several times with good results. We had to be nice to the single server for fear of them _______ing in our food. Last few times we had a phenomenal server, this guy was a disaster. Needs to not serve. The food was four stars lower. This place tempuras everything. Our calamari was undercooked and the coating feel off when picking it up. In the end, they should have noticed the basket of coating. Sushi was not like the past. Poorly done. I ordered their 1/2 lb. burger ,ordered it medium well which they explained is pink inside. Got delivered the beef jerky, incinerated burger. Ever had that happen to you? We all have. Think they would have noticed only one bite taken, or asked how things were? The Huli Huli chicken was not as good and not eaten. Server, did you not notice this? The server is the worst part of this restaurant, worse than the inedlible food. That says a lot. We will not return until we find out this guy is gone.

Stopped in for a quick bite and the host informed me that it was happy hour. They happened to have one of my favorite thing on the happy hour menu - Tuna Poke. I ordered that as well as well as a cucumber and seaweed salad thinking that they would be fairly small portions. Both were much larger portions then i ever would have expected for the price. The cucumber and seaweed salad the exact same as every other place i have had it (not complaining it was exactly what i wanted) The poke however was far better then i have had anywhere else (including Hapa where i regularly order it) It had chopped mango in at as an accent but there was tons of large chucks of very tender tuna. The portion was huge too - a good deal at the $9 regular price, an absolute steal at the $5 happy hour price.

I work nearby, and like to visit this place on Tuesdays for their $1 sushi night. The food is decent, and you can't be the happy hour sushi prices. The wait staff is friendly. Often times, I'm waiting on by the same people each time I go in. They have a decent loose leaf tea selection, and a great beer list. One night I decided (at the last minute on a Tuesday) that I wanted to go out for sushi. I couldn't find anyone to go with, since I decided about 10 min before I headed over. I sat at the bar alone, but wasn't really alone because the guys behind the sushi counter were very friendly and chatty. They gave me some great food recommendations, and I was able to switch it up a little and try something new. I will definitley visit this place again.

We ordered take-out, which took forever. We had to wait at least 30 min, and there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. And after all that wait, the food wasn't good. The "pad thai" was the weirdest version of that I've ever seen. The "vegetarian's paradise" had hardly any sauce and the tofu tasted burned. Oh, and totally overpriced. We'll never go here again.

I really enjoy going here. I used to eat fish and then I used to be a vegetarian... and now I am a vegan. They are right by my place of business so I stop here quite frequently. I've become fond of the servers and sushi chefs and they know who I am - and what I like and am going to order. They have quite a few vegan rolls on the menu - your usually avacado, cucumber, oshinko, etc. etc.... but they are also willing to prepare something extra speciall 'off' the menu for me - this I truly do appreciate! The servers are really friendly and very accomodating to my special diet. I would recommend this place to any of my friends. The atmosphere is nice as well. It is also attached to Tuktuk thai - which they will bring you some ingredients or menu items from occasionally if you ask. YAY for supporting the vegans! The only reason this place does not get 5 stars is the occasional bathroom smell - I think they have problems with their plumbing - which in a strip mall environment can't really be blamed on the restaurant owner..... it has never interrupted my fooding experience - but sometimes makes a trip to recycle the sake - unpleasant.

Don't go here if you value your life. Walked in last night for dinner with a friend. 5 degrees out and they must have not paid the heating bill. No heat!!! They set up a portable heater in the middle of the dining room floor!!! The kind you would use on a construction site. The staff seemed to be disoriented and not really into it. Actually got a dirty look from the sushi chef, like what the hell are you doing here when we walked in. Had the vibe of a Russian gulag. Needless to say we walked out after they brought the water. Could only imagine how dreadful the sushi is. You have been warned.

I should have read the reviews before going. Dirty, shady staff, marginal food. I don't know how they are still open. Bathroom was a hot mess, staff was inept, quality was horrible. Bad at any price. Don't go.

I am now convinced that this places is self-sabotaging. There is no way you can be this bad without trying to be. We used to love Ghin. My son has a dairy-allergy and we're gluten-free, so sushi was the logical and delicious choice. We went to Ghin so often that we had our own table and then about a year ago, things started to slowly go down hill. Our favorite waiter left and told us that he thought that the restaurant was trying to lose money but whatever, it didn't affexct us...until it did. Long story short, the last time we were there (and by "last" I mean, we will never, ever eat there again!) our waiter forgot part of our order, the rice in the rolls was way undercooked, the miso soup was luke-warm and the fries were cold, and are you ready for this?!? My three year old daughter spit out a piece of stainless steel scrub pad. And when I asked for the check, the waiter offered to buy us a dessert for our troubles and then got his panties in a bunch when I said, "No, please just take her noodles off of our bill." He said he'd see what he could do (are you freaking kidding me?!?) When he came back, he told me he took it off, as if he'd done us a favor. I almost didn't bother taking the time to write up this review because I can't imagine that Ghin will be around to ring in the new year.
