Ordered delivery 20 min before close on a Saturday night so was expecting at least the max delivery time of 45 min but was pleasantly surprised to get a knock on my door after only 25 min. The delivery was exactly as ordered, quantity and quality of food was great, service was friendly. Will not hesitate to order from this establishment again.

This place is pretty much on the line of a standard Chinese restaurant. Food was not bad but not great. They do put a lot of shrimp and meats into their combination fried rice which is rare in Chinese fried rice...usually it's loaded with peas, carrots, bean sprouts with a hint of meat but not this place. They give you a free roll when you pay over a certain price so with our case we received a free shrimp tempura roll...cool concept but it wasn't freshly made...it looked and tasted as if it was sitting out for a good minute. I'm still looking for a Chinese restaurant close by that will wow the senses....the search continues...

I'm only giving this 4 stars because they use styrophome for take-out and left overs. Otherwise this is a 5 star place in our opinion! We ordered the dinner special which came with egg rolls, soup and crab Rangoon. It says that the special is good for 1 person, but with all the apps and enormous dinner portion it's probably good to share. We are debating... Drew says that California rolls come with the special. But I thought I saw on the menu of you order $20 or more you get one, too. Regardless, the sushi was very fresh tasting and bright. Ps. I also substituted a meal not on the special deal list and still got all the extras. Woo Hoo! We will come back and bring the kiddo next time. Nice and casual atmosphere that won't be disturbed by children. Like it!

Wow. I've never before patronized a restaurant that filed a police report falsely accusing me of criminal activity--based fully on the restaurant's mismanagement and misunderstanding of normal restaurant operations. So, Tokyo China. I ordered takeout one night, gave them my credit card # to pay for it, was told it would be 35 minutes. An hour later, I'm still waiting for food. After being rebuffed when I tried to clarify a mistake they'd made taking my order (order-taker did not recognize menu items like udon, or sushi), I finally left with the 3 bags of food they gave me, in front of 2 front-of-house staff who said and did nothing as I left. Later, I noticed that they'd given me one bag with food I hadn't ordered--but it was 2 hours after my order and torrential rains were flooding my basement, so I disposed of the extra bag and moved on. Next morning, a voicemail. From Lafayette Police. Tokyo China claimed I took food without paying, and filed a police report. Seriously? So as soon as they opened at 11am, I went to Tokyo China to see what their issue was. They wanted me to pay $45 for the bag of food I hadn't ordered. They also wanted me to sign the CC receipt for my own order that they forgot to give me (which I obviously signed--and since they'd already posted my payment to my CC, as my mint.com told me the night before, it was unnecessary). I explained to two manager-types I'd left the restaurant with the opaque brown paper bags of food I was given. I don't think they understood me. They called the police again. (Actually, 911...sorry, emergency personnel!) An officer arrived, and I explained the situation to him: I'd brought a typed-up factual narrative of my prior night's experience, since I anticipated Tokyo China might be weird about it. The officer told the two manager-types it was the restaurant's responsibility to give customers the correct take-out orders, and that they needed to review their customer-facing operations so as not to have problems with this in the future. But I don't think the managers got the officer's point. Erm... they offered to retract their police-report accusation only if I paid for the food they'd wrongly given me... but now they'd only charge me half the total! (I actually did pay the $18.23 they wanted, after Tokyo China--seriously!--applied five $1 off coupons toward the balance. I just wanted to end the debate and let the officer go on with his day: my CC company will get my money back.) I won't be hauled off to jail for the unforgivable crime of dining at Tokyo China. But be warned that if you dine there, not only will you get bad sushi and bad attitude and hour-plus waits: You may actually be branded a criminal. That said, the Crispy Duck was very good--though the order-taker didn't realize it was on the menu.

We used to be regulars here but are too grossed out to go back. Went in to pick up a takeout order and the sushi chef was shamelessly picking his eye boogers and then chopping avocados- with no hand washing in between, and right in front of me! Got home with our order just feeling thankful that we had not ordered sushi but still kind of grossed out and found a long black hair in our sesame tofu. Write to the restaurant AND called, and got zero response.

Love this place! Usually order delivery because I'm lazy but they have always been prompt and their food always hot! The menu I'd extensive, so lots of options. Very affordable too. I must recommend the sushi, the hot and sour soup, and the chicken corn egg drop. Not much of a fan on the miso.

I honestly don't understand how this place is so highly rated. The service was slow at best. Waiting 15 minutes to pay your bill is unacceptable. There were only two other tables in the restaurant at the time so I really don't understand why our server wasn't paying more attention to us. I ordered the Thai Curry Chicken. I couldn't find a single piece of chicken in the dish. The menu marked this as a spicy dish. However it was more sweet than it was spicy. The only praise I can give is the presentation of the food was great.

food poisoning! add to that our food that was delivered was covered in sauce that spilled on everything delivering it in a bag dripping in a mixture of sauces! i called and was offered free egg rolls@$×#^%€&?? the food poisoning was sure to chicken that one of my family ate! i will never eat there again!

Online ordering for pick up was super easy. I got to the restaurant to pick it up and it smelled awful inside. Instantly I regretted my decision but it was already paid for so I had no choice but to take it home. The wonton soup and veggie fried rice were both good. The honey chicken was average, a little soggy. The summer rolls were gross. They tossed in a free sushi roll but after smelling inside the restaurant there was no way that I would eat any of their fish. I doubt I will be ordering again. Too bad.

First the good: I ordered over the phone around five for pick up, and the food was ready within 15 minutes. Places say that they will be ready in 15 but often take longer. A good deal. I ordered the scallops with garlic sauce, a hot and sour soup, and veggie spring rolls. Spring rolls were tasty. The hot and sour soup had a nice flavor but I was let done when I realized it had pork in it. I'm not a big fan of pork. That being said, it was still good for hot and sour. The scallops in the dish had great texture and the veggies were also crisp and tasty. The serving size was also very adequate. Needs for Improvement: I was not too impressed by the garlic sauce. I really can't pinpoint what I didn't like about it. The sauce was not terrible but felt like something was missing. Overall I was impressed with my first visit. The food was very tasty and the sizes were good for the money. Also, the staff was very friendly and the ambiance of the restaurant was nice. Seemed to be a good place to take a date. Give it try.

The first time we went, we just popped in. The service was great, the presentation was fabulous, but the fish was not so good. Fast forward till today; too lazy to drive, but craving sushi. I ordered the sushi platter for 3, plus extra apps for delivery. We received a beautiful platter of sushi, all the fixin's, plus a little extra from the chef. Delivery was FAST! The fish was excellent!!! I am so glad we tried again; we will be back!

My first time having them deliver was a very good experience. Ordered online which is a bonus. Food was delivered in less than 30 minutes. The menu has a lot of choices are and the portion sizes are large. The food is prepared without to much oil which is nice to see.

This place is great for Chinese delivery! Unfortunately, delivery times can be quite lengthy. The longest to get to our house was an hour and a half. I even called to make sure they hadn't forgotten our order. They have very good food, but their delivery is lacking. Be sure to order an hour or two before you're ready to eat.

We were a bit miffed with Tokyo China took over this location as we liked the restaurant it replaced. However this is one great place. A wide range of asian food is all well prepared, nicely presented. Portions are ample and prices are very good. Their sushi is not to be missed. Tokyo China is a rare gem in SE Boulder county and you should not miss stopping in for a great meal.

Yikes, Tokyo China went from very good to awful in just a few weeks. Apparently a new owner took over in late August or early September. Dishes we had ordered previously that included fresh seafood, excellent vegetables and light but tasty sauces are now slimy concoctions of fake krab, tofu and enough cornstarch to coat intestines for a week. After picking up the latest take-out order I called back to find out why everything had gone downhill. The young man answering the phone admitted the changes haven't been well received by customers. That would be an understatement in my opinion. Such a sad change. We had really enjoyed Toyko China prior to this.

I really want to like this place. And we will certainly be back to give them another try. First off the pros: Great affordable Sushi. We did one of the boat deals. Great edamame, good miso soup, just okay salad. The boat of sushi was a lot of food! We really enjoyed the mix of Sushi. Some better than others but it was nice to not have to pick out all of the rolls. The sweet potato was really yummy and different. The tuna was a nice big cut of fish. So overall the sushi was awesome and more than we could finish. The cons- they were super busy with take out and delivery orders so it was hard to get anyone to help us. They seemed to be apologizing to each customer for their order. We ordered beers only to have wait 10 minutes to ask for them again. Then had to wait another 5 for them to bring them over. The food was all timely. When we asked for the bill we waited another 10 minutes. They also took this long after we were finished eating to clear the table. I really wish the would hire on some more people so this could have been an enjoyable experience start to finish.

We ordered via Grub Hub - first delivery in our new house since moving to Erie. The time kept saying it would be about 7:55 PM for delivery (I ordered around 6:30). That didn't bother me, we'd already fed the toddler and the adults could afford to wait. It came at 7:15 so that was the first impression - early! We ordered the Thai Peanut Sauce chicken, some egg rolls, crab rangoons and the crispy duck half. We received a free california roll with our order that was fresh tasting and lovely - I'll try ordering sushi next to be delivered. Is it the best food I have ever had? No, but it didn't disappoint on a lazy weeknight when we didn't want to cook. The duck was delicious and my husband enjoyed his chicken. We will definitely order again!

This was the worst food ever. We were craving Chinese and looking around this place got the best rating in the area. I ordered Vietnamese rolls, rock fried shrimp, pork noodles and sesame chicken. The Vietnamese roll were so over fried they were black, like charcoal. Never even tried to eat them. The shrimp were the same way. And for the chicken, it was like eating over cooked very tough chicken. The pork noodles were the best part of the meal and they were just average. Not a good experience. :(

Food was ok. Two times they have taken well over an hour to get food to us and we are just over 1 mile away. If the food were exceptional I could consider letting it slide. In restaurant experience not noteworthy.

Love this place for delivery. They are always generous with their portions (often giving free treats/extras) and kind. Definitely a regular go-to for delivery for the variety and consistency.

Dined in and had food delivered, both times were great! Sushi was fresh and they even give you free treats when you order a certain amount! Very nice staff too!

Amazingly good sushi at a really great price. It's my new go-to place. I have tried sushi places in boulder Broomfield denver and lafayette and this is definitely my favorite. Favorite rolls are the dynamite and Rocky Mountain. Highly recommend going there.

Just ate here for the first time. This is where my favorite local place, Asian Garden, used to be so I was skeptical they could be as good. Well, I can say I was WRONG! The food was outstanding. We ordered a California roll and it was so fresh, better than any I have had in Denver. Presentation was beautiful. I had chicken udon and the flavors were spot on. my boyfriend had General Two's chicken and my mum had Teriyaki chicken. They were both so delicious. It is a little more expensive, but you can see why in the quality of the food. They make their dumplings fresh and they are outstanding! Can't wait to go back!

Ordered from the Chinese side of the menu. Very disappointed. Really lacked flavor and the Fun noodles were literally angle hair pasta. The Singapore street noodles were only spiced with curry, which would have been ok if they did not also offer curry noodles. Won't go back, Ting's up the street is way better.

Yum! As if living in Old Town isn't great enough, we now have some fantastic Chinese delivery. This is delicious American bastardized Chinese, and I hold this particular type of Chinese near and dear to my heart. If you are looking for sweet and sour chicken, egg roles, and the ilk delivered right to your door. THIS IS THE SPOT!

It's good Chinese/American food for Denver. I lived in Chicago for 7 years, not in the burbs but near downtown. I love chinese/american so I am a bit of a snob. That said. If you want real chinese go to Kingsland on Alameda & Zuni. Dim Sum the real deal! Pros: Fresh veggies. Not to greasy. Good flavors. Decent quality. Good price Dinner - Good Sweet n' Sour Chicken Dinner - Good Mongolian Beef Cons: There lunch is not great. At least not for take out. I got a order of Vegetable Lo Main and it came with rice. Hugh? Yes, more rice than Lo Main. It made no sense. Why would I want rice with Lo Main? My spouse got a order of General Tso Chicken. Which was really just sweet n' sour. Again there was tons of rice and almost no chicken. I am not expecting a huge portion since it seems like the quality is decent and the price is good $6. But, there were about 6 little pieces in the entire dish. I would pay a buck more for a few more pieces of chicken. Still it's the best place I have found in Lafayette so far.

I really don't understand the hype about this place amongst Lafayette residents. Tonight was my 4th time to give it a chance, because everyone keeps saying it's delicious. The lo mein was just regularly boiled spaghetti noodles lightly tossed in some sort of burnt oil. Sesame chicken was dry and tasteless. The fried rice was as bland and unfried as steamed rice. The sushi is so fishy and messy. My cat, however, enjoyed it. I've also been yelled at by the delivery driver twice because he couldn't find my address about 5 blocks away, even after explicit instructions. Not gonna make the huge mistake of giving it yet another chance.

Okay, here's the thing: my husband and I recently moved to Westminster and we haven't had ANY Tokyo China food for about a month and as a result, our LIVES ARE USELESS NOW. TC's food is SO GROOD (great+good), and what's even better is that the price is right for the HUGE amount of food they give you. Their delivery guys are awesome, and nice and pretty darn fast too. So, please, take up the slack for my hub and me, and give TC a call. You will not regret it.

We have been frequenting Tokyo China for delivery for over a year, and up until now, had awesome experiences. We recommend them to everyone in the area and have spent a lot of money there. The food is consistently solid. I cannot though, in good conscience, recommend TC anymore. Lately, we have had a few minor mistakes with our delivery orders. Usually, they send the corrected item(s) or refund us. Last night they forgot one of our sushi rolls and put the wrong type of fish in another. We called, told them the issue, and they said they would send someone out with the missing/correct items right away. An hour went by, and we didn't receive our food. We called and they said they now need to send the driver to pickup the incorrect roll BEFORE they can bring the corrected roll and MISSING roll back. This seemed exceedingly odd since that was NOT the expectation set an hour prior. I told the man on the phone that it was getting late, my kids were getting to bed, and it would just be easier to refund us. He still insisted they come and get be incorrect roll (which btw, he admitted on the first call was their fault because they were out of smoked salmon and substituted it with cooked salmon without telling us) even though it was late and inconvenient. I couldn't understand the need. They messed up. Are they going to try to sell that roll to another customer? That seems unhealthy and unprofessional. I could not believe it. He even said they would come by the next day to pick up the old sushi. Disgusting. They argued with me for 30 minutes. One gentleman even came on the phone and starring screaming and cursing and THREATENING me. It was absurd. All I was asking was to be refunded for the missing roll and the roll they made incorrectly. I don't see how this was unreasonable. Instead, they spent almost an hour arguing with me on the phone, cursing and threatening me, trying to have their driver come back to my home 2 more times to retrieve an old, incorrect sushi roll. How much money did they waste simply being jerks to a good customer? There was no reasoning with them. I guess my credit card company will have to deal with this issue now. Please, do not support a business that not only goes back on what they say, but curses at and threatens customers. The quality of the food isn't worth any interaction like this. I will be certain to track down the dozens of people I told about this place to take back my good praises. We will never get food from Tokyo China again. I never like to see local establishments close, as I love supporting small businesses and the local economy, but I wouldn't shed a tear if Tokyo China does in the near future. If they continue to treat their customers with such disrespect, they certainly will.

Love this place!! We used to come here when it was the Asian Garden Grill. So we decided to try it and liked it even more. The sushi is delicious and the presentation is amazing. Something different every time we've gone in. We're moving to another state, but will definitely be back when we are in town.

Took longer than expected. I ordered through app Eat24. I did get an extra California roll(you get one free cali roll w/ $20+ purchase!) and a punch card that they started for rewards. Food tasted great!

Warning: biased rating, but contains good information no one else may know. I am from Chicago- where China Town is the BEST place to get Chinese food... but now I'm in Colorado and the style is a bit different. I used to work in Aurora with the sushi chef/owner of Tokyo China. He told me he was opening his own restaurant and I knew I had to come try it because he makes the best sushi and I am a sucker for Chinese food! CHINESE MENU: -Unlike most chinese restaurants, Tokyo China uses REAL crab meat in their crab rangoons. Thus, making them the best crab rangoons you will find in Colorado (in my humble opinion). -They also make their own Sweet and Sour sauce that contains BANANAS. You wouldn't have known until I told you but it is seriously the perfect ingredient to tie it all together. It's seriously the best S&S I have ever had. -Their quality of beef is AMAZING. It's not that cheap, dried out beef you would find at most Chinese restaurants. It's actually a decent cut and tender. (I have ordered the Mongolian Beef and LOVED it, but I'm sure all of their beef dishes would be fantastic). SUSHI MENU: (I have tried a LOT of their sushi, so I am not going to go into detail. I am just going to list the ones I have tried and loved. Also, I am not a big fan of fish in general or RAW fish. Grosses me out. You will notice most of the rolls I have eaten are cooked or have mostly cooked meat and I couldn't take the raw meat.) Big Mac Jacky Roll Lafayette Roll Mango Roll Mountain Roll California Roll Sweet Potato Tempura Roll Sunshine Roll Las Vegas Roll I think I have tried other rolls but I don't see them on their online menu. I would say if you like the ingredients, you are going to like the roll. And others just may surprise you. Also, they are WONDERFUL about accommodating and changing what is inside your roll if you are not a fan of something or want to make it better. For example, sometimes I may ask for mango instead of avocado or no fish egg. They are GREAT about this and listen to each order. I don't think you can go wrong with anything you order from here! :)

Such a disappointment to see my favorite local Chinese restaurant go bad. Went last Saturday night. Reduced menu, inflated prices, bad service and not great food. I wonder whether getting takeout would be better, but I'm not game enough to try again. Pity, as it leaves very few good options in Lafayette.

  • J K.

I come here for the drunken noodles and usually get a scallion pancake as well. The pancake is light and delicate--different than others I've had, and I love that difference. They have a lunch special for only $4.25! Also, their delivery is VERY fast. Always within the time they tell you and often sooner, especially during off-peak times. (Compare that to the Double Happy, where I also love the food, but delivery is usually an hour or even more.) Will have to try their sushi at some point, because I've heard from friends that it's very good. They're friendly people and happy to adjust spices, etc. I like giving them my business.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
