Wonderful!!! Leave the interstate and have a great meal with nice people! We had pulled pork sandwich and down under burger...both amazing!! Slaw on bbq wonderful and bun tasty. Both are more than we could eat. Homemade fries and onion slivers were amazing! Saw beautiful fields of flowers and a fox on short drive to cafe. This place is WELL worth the short drive!

3.5 Stars Homemade hamburger bun fresh out of the oven was delicious, but did add an extra 20 minute wait before our food could be prepared. Timing is everything. My husband had the Western Burger. It was yummy. The BBQ sauce made it exceptionally awesome. Chicken fingers and breaded catfish was most and tasty but the burger was much better! Wanted to try the Caramel Pie (described as delicious by others) but it was sold out. Must have been good.

I'll admit that I have yet to eat at the I-70 Diner in Flagler, CO (which I've heard some say is very good), but this restaurant has to be the best stop between Goodland and Denver. If I'm wrong, I'm not too far off the mark. My wife and I popped in to eat some burgers. The buns were homemade. The patties were homemade. The french fries were hand-cut style fries. In all, a whole lot of love and attention went into our meal. The atmosphere of the town was like most small towns. It was pretty, out of the way, and quiet. The people in the restaurant were friendly-- customers and staff. In all, if you want to avoid the hassle of finding a place to eat in Denver (it seems to be the source of 90% of our in-vehicle arguments), take 12 mile jaunt to Hugo, and have a homemade meal with some great local company. No arguing necessary... there's only one place worth stopping for miles and miles.

Found one review which made the food sound really good. We decided to try it although it meant going 12 miles off the Interstate. It was well worth the trip. I had a pork cutlet sandwich which was treated like a burger. The bread was homemade goodness. For desert, my daughter and I split a slice of caramel pie and a piece of peach cobbler. Both were good enough to order again but the caramel pie was outstanding!

We stopped here based on the previous review. It was a delight. Very friendly owner family; tasted like home cooked food. Wonderful coffee. Thank heavens for this welcome spot in the total food desert between Amarillo & I-70!!

My wife and I were traveling from Denver to Fort Worth when we happened upon this delightful place. It is family owned and they take great pride in what they serve. Everything on the menu is made from scratch, right down to the hamburger buns and tomatoes, which by the way were growing in the storefront window. My wife is a burger snob, she said it is one of the best ever! I had the chicken fried steak which was fantastic. The meat on both were ground from steak. Don't miss this place.

I feel lucky to have stumbled onto this gem. What a classy little place--it has such a comfortable and home-made feel, and you can tell they hold themselves to a high standard. We showed up at a random time in the middle of the afternoon and they were all totally accommodating. I had the catfish tacos, and they were AWESOME. Almost everything here is made fresh from scratch. This is now a mandatory stop.

We took a chance & detoured on our road trip 12 miles south of I-70...we were rewarded with a tasty lunch!! The BLT was very good. In house hand cut smoked bacon & ripe tomatoes on a homemade bread roll. My son had the pulled pork sandwich made with in house smoked pork, scratch made BBQ sauce & homemade bun. The server/cook was extremely accommodating. My other son has a serious peanut allergy & they cook w/peanut oil. She made him a special club sandwich & salad that was safe & delicious. My other half had a very tender pork cutlet sandwich with fries. All around a great lunch! We would detour again if given the opportunity :)

With the intentions of only passing Hugo to reach our destination of Denver, we did not expect to stay a night in the endearing town but the snowy weather patterns did not allow that. We were delighted to hear that this restaurant was opened, as everything in the town was closed. Their service, food, and vibe they radiated is unmatched, providing us with an experience that almost made us forget the unfortunate situation we were in. Everything they make is made fresh and as you order, which isn't something you see too often anymore. Finally, their caramel pie was a true blessing to my taste buds. We fell so in love with the place, that we ordered takeout for later. We were truly lucky to have found this place!

Our buddy was driving us from Kansas City to Denver and we were pulled over near Hugo and had to go to court there. This town is filled with the nicest people, and here was no exception. We each got a sandwich and service was quick and pleasant. If you ever find yourself in Hugo for any reason, try this place or get some snacks at the supermarket next door.
