Friendly and well made sandwiches! In-Store or to-go, Many different choices, hot or cold. The wait is a little long (15-20 mins), but the fun ambience will make it worth it!

We got here 25 minutes before they closed. The ladies were super friendly and happily made us our belated lunch. I got a veggie sandwich, the Marilyn, I think it was called. I am not a fan of raw onions or tomatoes so asked to leave those off. They asked if I wanted another veggie so I got avocado. I also asked for it on gluten free bread and they gave me coleslaw on the side rather than the Mac salad. The hubs ordered a turkey sandwich with Swiss cheese, avocado, lettuce, tomato and not so spicy, spicy mayo. We both enjoyed our lunches and would definitely stop in again if we were in the area. Small note that they are cash only!

BRING CASH You don't need my recommendation - great sandwiches, fun atmosphere. Whether you're a local or someone passing through looking for a good place to stop for a minute. The soup I had was good, but not great. YMMV. There seem to be complaints about the service and indeed I did see that they got someone's order wrong while I was there. Dunno what's up with that part of the business.

Awesome food, had the veggie sandwich and it was great. There is a wait, so what. You are in a town that in the summer is packed and you are going to wait for your awesome HAND MADE sandwich. If you cant wait to get your lunch then a fast food chain might be a good call. If you CAN wait 10 minutes for an awesome sandwich (and damn good iced tea) then just have a seat and enjoy looking around at all the cool stuff on the wall.

Awesome sandwich place! Best local breakfast / lunch spot in town. Lots of options depending on what you're in the mood for.

Delicious sandwiches and soups. The breakfast special is the best in town and the staff are the friendliest people ever.

We ordered and found out they don't take CC or Debit good thing I had cash too. after ordering we were the only one in line and place was only 2 other tables. The cook was standing at a table and gossiping/talking w friends/family and took 15-20 min and the price was not worth the amount of food. It was good but service was poor. Won't eat there again

I love the Firebrand Delicatessen. As a bi-weekly visitor to Gunnison, Colorado, my wife and I routinely stop at Firebrand to sample their unique sandwich innovations. The owner and staff are always very friendly and helpful.

Great sandwiches that came with sides for a reasonable price. I only give them 4 stars because it was cash only. Great pre game meal before hockey!

I've only been here once, but dang, it was good! Super friendly staff, awesome options on the menu, great food. What else could you ask for!? The only reason I won't give them 5 stars is because I haven't beent there enough. If you get a chance, hit this place up. You won't regret it!

Something was lost in translation. I read New Yorker. It said HOT corned beef or Pastrami with mustard. Ask for cheese if you want it. Served on Rye. I took that to mean Corned Beef on Rye which usually means in NYC hot meat, cold bread, mustard. I got a rueben w/o the kraut (I asked for Swiss). It was sautéed which means it was a bit greasy which is why I usually don't get a rueben. I would go back. The line was long and that many people can't be wrong. Plus their sandwich selection is large and their staff is super friendly.

I don't understand the stellar reviews. We hit this deli on the way out of Crested Butte as we headed home to Denver. First of all, they don't take plastic - CASH ONLY! This would have been nice to know BEFORE we finished ordering; like how about a sign on the door on the way in. We ended up having to go to the ATM to buy our lunch. Our sandwiched were just ok. The meat was good quality. We chose to go with the locally made roll for our bread option which was pretty dry. Overall, just average sandwiches, not worth the cost. They also came with some mediocre tortilla chips. I would have rather had some nice potato chips. If we return to the area, will NOT return here, sorry.

The reuben is the best sandwich in town! Great for breakfast, lunch, and baked goods. They also have different (gluten free) soups and salad options. There bread is made locally and you can tell the food is comprised of quality ingredients. Bring cash or checks - they don't take plastic.

We regularly split the Breakfast Special-an omelet served on a bagel-it's the cheapest, tastiest breakfast in town. They also have the best coffee we've found in Gunnison.

Ok so I live mostly in San Francisco which is the awesome creative sandwich Capitol of the world. I also live in Crested Butte and I eat at Firebrand every chance I get. Why? Because their sandwiches are the best. Better than SF. And they make you feel cozy and cared for. Case in point- today after I ordered, the person in the kitchen remembered without seeing me that I don't like onions on my Everetts. I feel loved. And happy. Yay me and yay Firebrand!

We stopped here on the way to a 4 day backpacking trip. Perhaps because we knew this would be the last "real" food in 4 days, we found our sandwiches to be delicious. Both of us got pastrami with swiss cheese on dark bread. The sandwiches were generous in size and made of highest quality ingredients. Despite being quite busy, everyone working there was friendly and helpful. We so enjoyed our sandwiches that during our backpacking trip, while eating freeze-dried dinners, we planned our trip home so as to eat at Firebrand again. Alas, when we arrived on Sunday, the street in front of Firebrand was filled with Gunnison police cars and an ambulance. We sadly ate elsewhere, instead of getting in the way. When in Gunnison, I highly recommend the Firebrand for a sandwich!

#1 favorite: the Plymouth sandwich - turkey, cream cheese, and cranberry sauce. Muah. #2 favorite: sweet potato porridge. Oooooh. #3 favorite: Belgian waffles, especially when peaches are in season. Mmmmm. See, this place makes me SPEAK. And I love it.

I love the breakfast special, waffles, soups and sandwiches. Everything is delicious and that's all you need to know. It can take longer when they are busy but it's always worth the wait! If you're in a hurry, I'd call ahead. The Surefire is my go-to cold sandwich and the New Yorker is my favorite hot sandwich. The only downside is having to remember to bring cash.

Amazing. Best Reuben in Gunnison by far. Everything comes with chips and one more additional side. Breakfast is also great, try the waffles.

At Taylor reservoir for a wedding and stopped in Gunnison to run some errands. They were out of a few meats but apologized and thanked us for being such easy customers. The special was corned beef and coleslaw. A lady said it was the best corned beef sandwich she ever had so I ordered it but they just ran out of corned beef but offered to make it with pastrami. It was delicious! I got the half sandwich and salad and the salad was much more than the usual iceberg lettuce I expected (had avocado, green pepper, radishes etc!). I paid $10 for that and a root beer. The 4 of us all enjoyed our meals and the ladies working were very nice. I definitely recommend it!

Eh. Had the Surefire sandwich on sourdough for lunch which supposedly included avocado and spicy mayo. I do think there was possibly a thin sliver of avocado but there was nothing at all spicy about the sandwich and the sourdough just wasn't sourdough - it was tasteless white. The sandwich was served with a few corn chips and some slaw that was very heavy on the mayo. At least the lettuce and tomato were crisp and fresh and the place was cute and funky (also = no plastic accepted). Definitely pricey for what you get.

None other like it. Best Reuben ever and a great stop for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike. This place sustains me!

I feel like I plan my trips through Gunni to be sure I hit Firebrand! The only drawback is that I believe they still close at 3 pm. Fantastic small feel deli with great tasting combinations and standard favorites. Great portions and affordable options that accommodate all types of taste buds. Looking forward to passing through in a couple of weeks.

A great little place, try to hit a time when it isn't too crowded though. Delicious little sandwiches. A somewhat healthy and mom and pop kind of place. If you want a great sandwich from a small town local place stop by the firebrand. Just a tad pricy, but its worth the extra money over fast food any day- and its the best sandwich on main st. If the sandwiches were just a dollar cheaper I'd be five staring it in a heartbeat.

I really, really liked this place. Definitely unpretentious and with a vibe I hadn't expected to find in Gunnison. Lots of interesting sandwich combinations, reasonable portions for the price and friendly staff. What more could you ask for?
