Delicious! My sister's family and I picked up lunch from here to take to Glenmere Park for a picnic and it was better than we could have hoped! I got a kick out of the upside-down bug out front and my niece and nephew loved the little M&M dispenser they had inside. The restaurant was clean and there were only a few people in there eating lunch, so it was quiet. They got our food out to us quickly, but still it was clearly freshly made to order. We ordered 3 cheesesteak sandwiches and a large order of fries (which fed all 5 of us with some to spare!). We got an original cheesesteak for the kids to share, a large "The Works" for my brother-in-law (which he loved), and my sister and I shared a large "Pepper Philly." Oh my heavens! The beef was tender and juicy, the bread was soft, and the cheese just melted evenly throughout the sandwich to make every bite just as good as the last.

Back again. I think we are becoming regulars here. Still as good as the first time. Moist tasty meat and fresh soft bread. This place beats places I actually ate at in Philly.

Such a random place in the world to find a gem like this. I've never been to Philly for a real one but I hope it tastes like this. Just the right amount of grease. Cheap, fast, and good service. A win, win, win.

This place is awesome! I almost always have the hot popper Philly Philly which is a Philly with jalapeños and cream cheese, cheese fries and Boylan's root beer in the bottle. Always friendly and usually good music playing too.

Best phillysteak in town since Caboose left us. :( Try the phillysteak with the works and jalapeños!

Great food and fantastic personality to boot. I love the decent prices they have as well as the atmosphere I can get a small thing of fries and they let me sit there and do all my homework. They are very personable and mellow as well.

Really good sandwiches! Not too expensive and you get a lot for the money! Definitely worth your time and worth a try!

Wow... is all I can say. Such flavor, such deliciously rich, face-slapping taste in every bite! I ordered a "The Works" Cheesesteak, and I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming. Mushrooms, peppers, oo-wee gooey cheese, and then the meat... it was too much for me to resist, before leaving I ordered another one for the road. Wow... this place has it down. They know how to make one amazing cheesesteak. And I also liked that they had a refrigerated section of beverages, so I could get something besides a soda. If I lived near here, I would be a regular... if only I did...

If you're from Philly and need a cheesesteak, this is the best place I've found!

Around lunch hour on a Friday in May 2013, I tried Taste of Philly again. There were over a dozen people in the restaurant. Students were greatly outnumbered. That so many working men and a few retired fellows willingly choose Taste of Philly for their lunch is a credit to the food served. I suppose the small number of students was due either to the fact that it's the end of the semester, or possibly the prices are limiting. The greeter was cheerful, the chef accommodated my special request, and did the service I asked for, very well. I asked the person taking our order which was the best cheese-steak of the two I wanted to try. I accepted her suggestion. We had the cheesesteak with pepper and cheese. I also ordered the Rueben. The Rueben was great, and probably a bit more to my liking than the previous Rueben I had had at Rueben's burger bistro in Boulder. There, the portion was large, bread thick and broad, elements somewhat loose but plentiful and tasty. Here, the Rueben was smaller, with thinner bread, but also better pressed. Though at times, walking a long distance, or having skipped a meal or two, I would probably prefer the comfort and size of the larger sandwich, most of the time I would be satisfied with the Taste of Philly's Rueben. It's more like a home-made Rueben. (It's also a dollar or two less expensive.) (My companion prefers the taller, larger Rueben burger bistro Philly.) The Philly with green pepper and cheese. Well, I figured the "green pepper" was going to be like the last green pepper Philly I had, but it was not. How fun to suddenly realize, "Oh, it's a spicy pepper!" Since I like a little spice, that was fine with me. This sandwich was better than the last one I had here - a Philly with "the Works", which didn't work for me. Maybe I was having a bad day, or someone else. The two sandwiches today, withal, were top of the line for a local labor-loving, campus-centric eatery. By way of explanation: A review is not a cosmological truth. Do not expect everyone to like your food, nor you to like everyone else's. I learned from Siskel and Ebert what the purpose of a review is. What is is not is, it is not to tell you an absolute truth. What it is, is to give you a guide so you can make an educated guess what your opinion of something will be. For example, if every time I give an establishment one star, you go there and find out it's the best thing you've had since the mayonnaise, peanut butter, and honey sandwich; then next time I give something one star, what you can do, rather than wasting your time berating my tastes, my intelligence, and my honesty, is go try it, because you can be pretty sure you will like it. Conversely, if everything I give five stars to, makes you want to vomit, again instead of accusing me of trying to poison you, use your God given intelligence to translate my review into your tastes, and realize that if I have given something five stars, then your best course of action is to stay as far away from it as possible. That's what I do. When I realize that my reviews are at odds with another Yelper, I use that to determine whether or not I might like a place. Sometimes I have to look in detail, what they say about a particular item, or a certain person. Sometimes it's more general. Use your wit and wisdom, and be happy. Not everyone will like the products you like, nor the services you like. If they did, there would only be one food franchise covering the entire earth. "In Diversity there are Good Tastes." "E pluribus, sortem rerum bonum gustant!" Besides, my stars and reviews change as (1) my tastes change (didn't you know!?); (2) the establishment' change the quality and selection of their products and services; and (3) their staff changes.

I feel obligated to point out that I've had problems with this place both times I had food delivered. The first time I was at a friend's house. He lives in a rented basement where the entrance is on the other side of the house proper, and the delivery person had trouble finding us. We eventually had to call again an hour later. The delivery person came five minutes after the second call, apologizing profusely and bearing free cupcakes. The second time I was put on hold for nearly fifteen minutes before getting my order through (apparently they were quite busy). Again they apologized profusely and we got our food promptly. Neither problem was eminently unreasonable and will not keep me from ordering from Taste of Philly again, however I felt compelled to share them with you in case those problems were not isolated incidents and they simply suck at customer service. Now, on to the good part, namely the food. The cheesesteaks themselves are hot, glorious cardiac-arrests-waiting-to-happen wrapped in foil. The cheese fries were scrumptuous, even if they were pretty ordinary fried served with what looked to be hot Velveeta. This is junk food as a near-art form. What a beautiful thing.

I never understood peoples obsession with cheese steaks, until "A Taste of Philly" came to town. The sandwiches are excellent, highly recommend this place.
