I came here upon the recommendation of a friend who is a Greeley native. I came in and sat at the bar. I attempted to get the bartender to suggest something good but she wasn't really interested in providing any. My friend had spoken highly of the Louis Margarita, ad that as pretty tasty. I liked that it was made with lime juice and not sweet and sour. The rim is salted with red, green and white colored salt, which was a cute little touch. I chose an enchilada sampler plate, having one chicken, one barbacoa, and one with house made chorizo, and opting for green chili. I was informed that nothing was terribly spicy but it could be made so if I asked, which I did. Unfortunately that didn't happen. Everything was extremely mild, salsa, green chili, and meat. The barbacoa had decent flavor but the other meats let me down. I was hoping for something much more flavorful from this place. They do make a good marg, but the food was sub-par.

This place was interesting to me. First off the restaurant is named THE Charro, very strange for a "Mexican" restaurant. We had a section by the bar reserved and in that room were 4 TVs, 3 of the TVs had on the same infomercial while the forth had a rerun of the Champions League final (Barcelona beat Junventus). Then there was the choice of music, they were playing country and classic rock. They were good songs but just not a Mexican restaurant vibe at all. I ordered the Carne Asada tacos with a side of rice and wasn't too pleased. The tortilla was hard, the meat was a too done and somehow they didn't cook the rice correctly! I took a few bites and it wasn't cooked all the way, the rice that was cooked properly was dry. Should've got the beans. My dad ordered the Pork Chile Verde and his meat was tender and waaaaay better than mine. Prices are a bit steep to me. I guess on the plus side they had some cute girls working there but the food was below average.

Our family has been eating here for several years. We usually get the nachos and have them leave off the meat. It's a large serving and they are always good as is the beer and house margaritas. The staff is usually friendly and accommodating.

A very good, longstanding, established local Mexican food eatery. Their menu is varied, food is good and fresh, prices are very reasonable, and they have a nice relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere. My family has been coming here for a couple decades now. Never had a bad meal.

I LOVE El Charro - it's the best Mexican Restaurant I've been to in Greeley so far, but do still have several to visit. It's authentic and tasty and the service is almost always stellar!

We pulled up on a Saturday night and were nervous because there weren't many cars in the parking lot. We nearly left, but decided to go in because we've wanted to try this place for a long time. I am so glad we stayed and ate! You are given chips and salsa with your meal. The chips are warm which is a nice touch and the salsa is spicy, but not too hot. We started with the guacamole fresco which is made at the table. It's hard to screw up fresh guacamole and this was delicious as expected. Hubby got the street tacos and they were amazing. I got the chimichanga and it was just okay. My smoked corn side was delicious, however. Who knew smoky spiced corn could taste so good? For dessert, we got the Xango which is cheesecake filled sopapilla. It, too, was delicious. They have a great margarita and drink menu. I got the Charro Sunrise (tequila, o.j., grenadine, and club soda) and the raspberry sangria. The Charro Sunrise was good, but the sangria was wonderful. I can't wait until it's warm enough to have a few of these outside! They do have a limited beer menu with the typical Mexican and popular American brands. No microbrews. This is in a weird part of town with not many restaurants near by. Don't let that discourage you! I think we found our new favorite Mexican restaurant in Greeley!

This is the best Mexican Food you're going to get in the Greeley, CO area. I know I have been spoiled living down in the Austin/San Antonio area with great Mexican Food so it does make me a little tougher than normal critic on Mexican. This place has great prices and large portions. Always a good drink special going on as well.

Visited Charro last night after not going there for 25yrs, was very disappointed, very small entrees, and way overpriced for what you get....Staff is great, great service. The side dish of roasted corn was horrible, basically they opened up a can of Walmart whole kernel corn and threw in some seasoning, NOT roasted at all. I would not go there again if it was free. $12.50 for 2 small tortillas and the menu said 2 large tortillas. GRANDIOSO ENCHILADAS , I don't think so. Save your time just go to The Armadilo. where you will get a decent portion.

This restaurant smelled a bit funny upon entering. It was also very dark inside. The food was delicious and the staff was friendly. I did not try a margarita so maybe I will have to adjust my review once I make a return trip.

Really enjoy the food and the service is great so far. The flatbread tacos are really good. Would like to see more chips provided...they do refill but the bowls are tiny so you run out of chips quickly. I have also had the Fajitas which were quite tasty.

Mary was awesome with the service! She exemplifies customer service! Food is consistently great! Service at the bar extremely poor though....bartender too interested in trying to score a date. She might be the worst bartender in Greeley.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
