The wife and I took the scenic route from Fort Collins back to Breckenridge. Since it was dinner time, we decided to cruise thru Granby for a place to eat. A Yelp search turned up this place. The reviews were favorable and we were hungry. My wife had the lamb giro and I had the tomato Basil pasta. Both were tasty. Lindsey, our server, took great care of us. We'll definitely come back the next trip to Colorado. This place is worth a visit.

The pizza was really good, however the service is extremely slow. A friend and I needed to grab some pizza to go and decided to have a quick drink while we waited. There is no such thing as quick in this place, 17 minutes we waited for the bartender to come over, I grabbed a menu from the hostess in the meantime so we at least knew the options and could order when we finally were acknowledged. I should have just ordered from the hostess. 30 minutes after sitting at the bar, which was not busy by any means and should have been a sign on a Saturday night at 8pm, we ordered a drink. 1 hour to get two pizzas to go and one drink per person.

We really love this place. The staff and owner are great, the food is good and the ambience is surprisingly nice! Perfect with the kids after a day at Granby Ranch

Unfortunately, Brickhouse 40 is Hit or Miss. Biggest downfall is the inconsistency. Our family loved the Greek pizza - the 1st and 3rd time we had it! Now we just don't risk it. We have eaten here 8 times... which is a testament to the lack of good dining available in Granby. If you have time, you are better off driving to Grand Lake.

My friends and I stopped in for dinner the last week of December 2012. I am sorry to say the food was horrible. I'm not one to complain, it has to be REALLY bad for me to do so. I sent my food back, my friends wanted to do the same. My gnocchi were globs of dough, mushy, too large to get any texture on them. The sauce that was supposed to be "splashed" with red wine was about half red wine and uneatable. The dried mushrooms in the sauce were not reconstituted and chewy. Friends ordered: 1. Spaghetti described as having a "pinch" of sugar was too sweet to eat. 2. The pizza was reminiscent of bland, cheep frozen goods. 3. Half "roasted" chicken was tough yet bloody (not slightly bloody, seriously raw) once they got closer to the bone. I'm not sure if the kitchen was having an off-day, but I think the restaurant is confused about their direction (go Greek or go Italian, but Italian is not good, so go Greek?) and the measurement of ingredients, a pinch and a splash do not constitute overpowering a sauce. The restaurant itself had a nice atmosphere, that's really all I can say for it. My advice, save yourself some dough, drive by, don't stop...

Great place great lunch or dinner. It's in Granby and haven't had a lunch or dinner this good anywhere in Winter Park or Grand Lake. They care about food here. It's fresh worth the wait and consistent. We went with neighbors from Denver who knew the owner. He came out and said a few things. You can tell the love he has for food and his customers. I had a burger that was incredible. Almost went back for the same burger for dinner it as that good. Sweet potatoe fries rocked.

Fabulous! Young amazing chef. Greek specialties meets uptown Denver caliber dining. Tuna Stack small but soooo good. Cuban Burger was amazing. Kids menu even has a mini steak! You must have the Greek donuts! Covered in the honey sauce that's used in baklava. Mmmm I need more. Great drinks and great atmosphere and super sweet staff too.

Once again I was asked to re-try this restaurant and yet again I was extremely disappointed. I will have to say that lunches there have gotten quite better but once that dinner menu hits, it's like quality goes out the window. We walked in about 5 o clock and no one even sat us. We took a table near the bar because the bar was full. Bartender barely even recognized we were there. When she did arrive, she never told us her name, specials, or even say hi. We got the calamari and a round of beers. Calamari was under-cooked and heavily breaded. After we sent the calamari back, should have had it comp'd, the bartender gave us our check. We WANTED another round of beers. I guess it takes to much energy to ask your customers if they want something else. Avoid this restaurant like the plague.

1st time at this restaurant for our family and it was excellent. Staff was professional and attentive. We had spicy tune, prawns, and a pizza. The meals were delicious. We will return.

While driving through Granby, we decided to stop at Brickhouse 40 because it looked like the only modern restaurant in town (and the only one open on a Sunday at 2pm). We had mixed results. Our waitress seemed irritated that we came in so late in the afternoon, but quickly warmed up to us and turned out to be a very pleasant server. I ordered the Cubano sandwich, but was told 30 min after I ordered it that the kitchen didn't have the right ingredients for it. I re-ordered, and got the vegetarian gyro. I was pleased with the gyro--it had the right mix of feta and olives and vegetables. However, I wish that I had been told about the Cubano problems much earlier, because we had to sit and wait for so long before getting our food due to kitchen problems. I also ordered a hot chocolate, and unlike so many restaurants, B40 gave me a delicious cup of cocoa with just the right amount of cream. My companion ordered the wings (too vinegary and salty, but palatable), and a burger. The burger had too many jalapenos, but was otherwise well-cooked. My main complaint was that we were there for an hour and a half to get a gyro and a burger. The food was fairly decent, and the service was good. I might return if I were driving through Granby again.

My family and I had a wonderful experience at Brick House 40. The interior of the restaurant was very nice and our server was very attentive. They have a creative menu for kids and did a great job of keeping them busy while my wife and I talked. I enjoyed the food. We had a great time and a great meal. On a side note I left my MacBook Air under the table when we left and they could not have been more helpful in trying to get it back to me. I talked with several staff members and the owner and everyone worked hard to help me solve a problem I created.

I have given them many chances and they continue to disappoint! Deliver the wrong food, food not prepared as ordered, service hit or miss (mostly miss). Sad as there are so few restaurants in the area but I won't go back - EVER.

Talk about an awkward lunch experience. The setup inside the restaurant is very uncomfortable and the service was an absolute joke. The food is very elementary and can be achieved much better by staying home and making it yourself. When asking for the check again and again the speed of even getting this was dreadfully slow. As the servers would stop and talk to regulars and not notice the line of people eagerly awaiting their checks so they could depart it makes you wonder what the owners and management are thinking. Stay away because it appears that neither the staff or the ownership care about the customers enjoying their experience.

As the website says, this is where the locals bring their guests -- and it is where my local friend told my mom and me to meet him before heading up to his ranch.... Seems to be one of, if not THE, only modern restaurant in the area, with exposed brick (natch) and a lot of attention to detail in the decor. The food was great all around. I had the ahi salad, which was a large portion, fresh and tasty, and both my mom and our friend had the tenderloin medallions, which were fabulous. We also got the calamari appetizer, which was quite good (and I'm not a particular fan of fried calamari to begin with). A surprising delight in a place I would never have expected!

Recently visited the Grand Lake area of Colorado with my husband. Wonderful part of Colorado (we live in CO) to experience. One of our daughters came up for a few nights and we found Brickhouse 40 the first night while checking menus in the area. It was my choice to go there. Menu looked good and the atmosphere nice also. I'm so sorry I chose this restaurant. Call it an off night for the staff or whatever you will, but Brickhouse 40 is highly over-rated. I should say that at least the bartender that night was courteous and quick to serve, still the hostess couldn't even pick up our drinks or our appetizers and carry them to our table for us. Once seated, it took way to long to get things in order. Looked over and the hostess was chatting with a server (ended being our server) and things just went down hill from there. Food not served together and my daughter's dish sat in the window for about 10 minutes. My pasta was so-so, nothing special at all for $13 and my daughter sent back her pork chop dinner - overdone, barely warm and overall bad (sat in the window for approx. 10 minutes). She made pork chops the next night in our hotel room that by far exceeded what she was served the night before. My husband's steak was under-done and grizzley:-( Come to find out our server was the manager that night and said someone in the kitchen had quit that day and the chef was not happy. Oh well, get your you know what together Chef and do your job. No bread was served even after we asked about it and we waited for water after asking for it twice. We sent back two dinners and my husband was so hungry he ended up eating most of his. Our server was going to give us a discount and then ended up comping the meals for us, which we appreciated since all we wanted to do was get out of there by that point. Seriously folks, with a dinner menu that touts upscale prices for Granby, if you're going to hire pretentious staff and not back it up with the goods, get rid of the slackers (no matter where they learned to cook I might add), decrease the choices on your menu so you can keep fresh items, and move forward. It's a nice enough dining area and bar and I'm guessing you can do better than this.

If this was strictly a rating on food, I'd give Brickhouse 40 a solid 4 stars (having only eaten there once.) But, being a "sit down" restaurant, there are more factors to consider. The first thing after food is service, which was decent, though it felt as though our server was working too many tables, which I don't know that I can count against her in this case. Let me preface the rest of this review by saying that based on what I had seen previous to our visit I was definitely expecting something slightly more... casual. Not that I felt at all underdressed (dark jeans, plain black tee) but when I hear "gyro", I guess I'm not expecting to see a selection of wines and mixed drinks. Overall, I would say there wasn't any one area of notable failure, just a series of missed opportunities to be something truly special. You might say Brickhouse 40 is an unfinished diamond. With that in mind, here's where my wife and I saw room for improvement, in order of importance... 1. Ambiance Of course, this is highly subjective and consists of multiple facets but I've been to enough places that get it right, that I feel I know it when it IS there and Brickhouse 40 is lacking in this department. For one, the two-person tables are WAY too close together. There was a couple celebrating their 20th anniversary next to us and we were uncomfortably privy to every word of their conversation. Any closer and we would have been family. With such a large, open space there should be more breathing room. Speaking of open space, why is there a sizable residential kitchen in the middle of the restaurant? Yes, the previous business was a design center, but that doesn't explain why it's there still. It's an awkward intro as you head to your table. Lighting and music. Bring them down. The candlelight from the sconces would probably be magical dancing across the old brick, but we may never know. Oh, and ban the Kenny G. Forever. 2. No draft beer? Really? In Colorado? Isn't that borderline sacrilegious? To be fair, the server said they "are working on it". But how can you have a bar, serve meat products, and have no beers on tap? 3. Nitpicks - The chairs suck for a place that you are clearly supposed to stay awhile. I plopped down, expecting some padding under that upholstery, and just about bruised my tailbone... - The men's room needs a partition between the urinal and the sink (Not to mention the door. Can you say "awkward"?) - The menu needs to be pared down. Or broken into lunch and dinner or something. If I sound at all harsh on any of those points, it's only because this place has great potential but needs to do something about its acute personality conflict.

The hubby and I met some friends here for dinner last week while he was working on a project in Winter Park. I'd seen this brick building right on main street in Granby as we drove by on a previous trip in the area and made a mental note to try it next time we were in town. The YELP reviews further peaked my curiosity and by the time we arrived, I was quite excited to check out the menu. First of all, the atmosphere is great - exposed brick walls, open kitchen, white tablecloths - my favorite kind of vibe. Our waiter, Todd, was attentive, but not overbearing and gave us lots of time to look at the rather extensive and diverse menu before ordering. I'm a big fan of chicken marsala, but because of that, I rarely order it in restaurants as the recipe and quality tends to vary vastly from one establishment to the next. I'm more often disappointed than not, so I just tend to avoid it altogether. Well, I have to say, I am SO glad I gave theirs a shot! It was fantastic, the chicken breasts were tender and flavorful, the sauce was the perfect consistency and the perfect balance between the sweet Marsala, tangy lemon, savory garlic and a touch of light cream. It was served on top of a pile of perfectly al dente linguine with earthy mushrooms and refreshing bits of fresh tomato. Wow! Now I'm afraid they've ruined me for chicken marsala anywhere else! Two other people at the table ordered the Chicken Milanese, which they seemed to enjoy and looked fantastic as well. The hubby ordered a baked pasta dish (I think it's Greek) that had a bit of an anise-flavored sauce, which he liked, but didn't love. After dinner we enjoyed glasses of wine in the lounge area in front of the fireplace. What a great experience! We look forward to dining at Brick House 40 everytime we're in town this summer.

We found Brickhouse 40 by accident, the building's exterior looked contemporary, unique and looked a fun place to hang out. There was about 6 of us excited to eat some good food and drink some cold beverages. As soon as we walked in ... The hostess immediately told us the dinner area would not be opened for 7 minutes and we needed sit at the bar (there was no one in the dinner area). We did and the newly hired bartender was wonderful !! They had small bar menus at the bar and we looked over the choices. My BF decided on a cheeseburger and I was going to order from the dinner menu. Once we were seated at our table, our server, Brad, was also very rude !! My BF ordered the pre-chosen Cheeseburger to Brad, and Brad informed my BF that he was NOT allowed to order a cheeseburger from the "bar menu." "You are seated in the dinner area and if you want a cheeseburger.... you have to sit in the bar area." He would of had to leave the table and eat his cheeseburger by himself at the bar. They were not even busy enough to warrant this behavior. BTW... there is no division between the bar and the dinning area and all of the food is prepared from the same kitchen !! We had to ask for bread to eat before our meals came. Again ..... the food was mediocre at best. Will NOT go back to eat here, possibly to have a few drinks with the nice bartender.

We just had an excellent dinner at Brickhouse 40 after a day of skiing at Granby Ranch. We started with the app platter which was a generous portion of pitta, hummus, feta, giardiniere veges, pepperoni and salami. Delicious. Our meals were steak frites, cooked perfectly, New York mahi Napoleon (steak and mahi mahi layered with an au jus, potatoes and veges - perfect for protein craving men with a palate for good food) and the spanikopita (it was ok, a little dry). Our waitress was very attentive and everyone in the restaurant was helpful and friendly. We have stopped here In the summer before and had a similar experience. Would definitely recommend it for a nice dinner

Not worth it. Food was mediocre, service was terrible! I ordered the scallop dish and it came covered is cheese, not impressed. Our waitress was terrible we waited on her constantly for taking our orders, refills and the check. For a $60 meal, my husband and I expected better. Don't bother wasting your money. The atmosphere was nice which is the only reason it is getting two stars instead of one.

For oh so many years the only chi-chi restaurant on the north side of Frasier and in the Granby area was the Devil's Thumb Ranch, and for that you had to spiff yourself up a bit. Now, all the sudden there's the casual Tabernash Tavern (ummmm, ummmmm, good) and the most recent entry into the new American cuisine collection: The Brick House 40, located right in the middle of Granby. (I'm not trying to slight Caroline's Cuisine, but I consider that a Grand Lake area restaurant:-) Called the Brick House 40 'cause it's located in the first brick bldg put up on Route 40 (I may have just made that up, but what's a good review if it doesn't do that?), the restaurant's located in what used to be the Country Home Outfitters old spot. Strangely, some of the kitchen installations remain in the newly renovated restaurant space. (I guess maybe they use that area for cooking demonstrations). Anyway, the place is good. Certainly better than anything else in Granby, but it doesn't quite have the consistency or uniform quality of the Tabernash Tavern, which has been around for over a year now. My guess is they'll get it figured out soon. They've only been open for a few months. So I'm definitely going to give them another try. But even as it is, it's high-stylin' cowboy eats, that's fo' shure!

Pass Them By: Have been spending summer's in the Winter Park CO area for about 4 years now. Each summer have gone to Brick House 40. This year the food and service was terrible. They are attempting to find 2 new chiefs and it shows. The bartender was short and simply told us they did not have chilled white wine available. The Ruben sandwiches we ordered were normally the best in the valley. What we were served was cheap pork, not beef. The flies in the restaurant made us crazy! We gave them two additional tries with guests and the results were the same. Said, it was once a wonderful place. Unfortunately, we will not be giving then another chance.

We loved this place. The service was friendly and prompt and the food was delicious and reasonable. They were also very accommodating to kids and had courses to keep them entertained throughout the meal. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others.

Been to this place several times over the last year, so I can warrant a review now. The food is mediocre and overpriced. For the small town it's in, it's pretty good, but for the upscale look and feel they're going for, and the prices they're charging, it's way overpriced. It's just literally ok. Each time I've been here we get a different server, and I always feel as if they hate their job. Lunch service is extremely slow, dinner service is decent if you go early enough. They do give kids stuff to do though, which is nice. Markers with a picture to color, and they have a basket of toys near the front.

Several friends and I stopped into Brickhouse40 Saturday; at the end of a long bike ride. Despite wearing cycling clothes and looking rather used-up; they happily accommodated us with a large table and any number of water pitchers. I can't speak for the other seven lunches, other than note that at the conclusion of our meal, all plates were clean. My steak sandwich rivaled the steak sandwich I had at the Palm, on Thursday, although it was half the price. The sandwich was accompanied by a basket of fries...if you like the little crispy fries, you'll like these. I don't, particularly, but ate them anyway (Thanks, Mom!). As the earlier reviewer noted, Granby has been somewhat restaurant-challenged; and Brickhouse40 takes up the slack nicely. They have great ambiance, a good wait staff and good food. We don't get through Granby often, but will keep this place in mind.

Our service was horrendous but the food delicious. So why the five stars? We told the owner about our dissatisfaction and he took full responsibility and comped our entire meal ($120). It was a very busy holiday Sunday and hostesses were jumping into server roles. The owner had come in for dinner with his family and ended up putting out fires all night. The atmosphere was warm and homey and we will absolutely go back again.

Our first time at this restaurant in the quiet town of Granby. We were truly impressed. The atmosphere is fun yet can be romantic too. We had an amazing dinner! The food had "pop out" flavor, appropriate temps, and good sized portions. I had the Chicken Milanese, different from any other I've had before. Pleasantly suprised and impressed, the flavors were amazing, a combo of 2 sauces, fresh veggies....simply delicious! I'd definitely go back to this place!

This restaurant is excellent! The food was well prepared. Our party of 3 tonight each chose a different small plate (which weren't too small) and they were all delicious! Salad and feta garlic bread were great!

For an appetizer, I had the crabcake for around $4 bucks- what a savory steal! I ordered The Hangar Steak with a creamy/buttery sauce with shrimp in it. Wow, that was a good steak- just $14 bucks too! No extra charge for the sauce/mini shrimp. It came with lots of mashed potatoes & some good mixed veggies. The waiter said this cut was similar to a filet. At this price I had my doubts but they came through. This was a very nice surprise for my birthday fishing trip in November. I can't wait until I can get my boat back to Granby after ice off. I'll definitely be ordering the cheap but yummy Hangar Steak again. The ambience is nice with a cozy upscale look. The menu has cheap & expensive options. My waiter took good care of me. Everyone else was nice too.

Friends and I were visiting Colorado. It was starting to get late and we were concerned about finding someplace decent to eat as we were heading from Hot Sulphur Springs toward Fraiser, where we figured we could find something open. To our pleasant surprise we saw Brickhouse 40 in Granby. We sent a scout to check out the menu and decided it was worth trying. Wow! It was a nice, hip place in the middle of nowhere. I guess it had been a kitchen/cabinet showroom and they kept one amazing kitchen setup in the middle of the restaurant. (We asked and they said they use it for cooking classes, events, bar seating, and for extra storage.) The food was delicious. I had a yummy poached pear salad that had chicken and all sorts of good things in it. Another friend had the smoked salmon salad and she thoroughly enjoyed it. The lamb chops were savored by another friend. And a Greek baked dish was enjoyed by our fourth friend. We were glad the waitress mentioned that the "small plates" were good sized. I cannot imagine how much food must have been in the larger entrees! We were stuffed. However, we did manage to have room to share a dessert! We ordered the multi-layered bars that had graham cracker crust, coconut, sweetened condensed milk, almonds, and chocolate. Oooh, so rich! Glad we shared it. I attempted to look at their website to verify the names of the dishes we ordered; however, the website listed does not seem to be the right one. Our waitress was friendly and nice, but did seem a bit distracted. it was a bit difficult to get water refills and she forgot the side salad for one person (she apologized and did bring it and didn't charge us . . . she got a better tip for that.) I would recommend this restaurant if you are ever in Granby (or nearby).

I am giving this place 4 stars for a restaurant in Granby. If it were in Denver I would give it 3 stars comparing it to the quality of the food and presentations found there. Good steak and pizza. The portions here are enormous. The pizza was so big it would have suited 3 people easily. Nice atmosphere for a restaurant in the middle of the small town of Granby, CO. The service was good. The only problem was that they didn't have any beers on tap. This was kind of a bummer given it is a steakhouse. I love a draft beer with my steak. There were, however, plenty of bottled beers to choose from. On the upside, the wine selection is good. If you want a nice red with your steak you are in the right place. Had a good time with a pretty large group.

Worst wait service ever. Ours was a return trip to Brick House 40. The first time was just over a year ago and the food and service were very good. Our most recent visit was less than stellar. Food was OK, not great. Service was slow, lacked any form of followup (from checking up on our group - to clearing the table between servings). Further, our waitress told us to clear our "old empty" dishes out of the way ...so she could serve our entree(s). Then left without clearing the old dishes off the table. Total lack of caring or follow-up.

We visited Granby over the weekend and heard that there weren't very many good restaurants around. We tried Brickhouse 40 (looking for pizza) and luckly the pizza prices were okay if you were just getting cheese... ($11 for a cheese pizza up to $20ish for full specialty pizza) The extra toppings were $2.50 each so it could get pricey. Everything else on the menu was pretty pricey. The pizza was very thick pan style pizza and tasted okay at best. The pepperoni was good, sausage not good and burned slightly. We are definitely going to look for thin pizza next time somewhere. My husband did love the calamari however. We were the only ones in the restaurant at the time and enjoyed the atmosphere a lot! It was very nice. Fireplace, brick, white cloth tables, etc. We should have dressed up a bit more. The waitress was very friendly too. When someone commented about the 'hard chairs' they were right, but if you don't care for comfort, then they won't bother you. The biggest thing about this place is that they don't have a website! I was completely blown away by that. I wanted to check out their menu online before we went there and I can't believe that they don't have one. Anyway, my husband wished we had just done McDonalds, but I thought the pepperoni pizza was a 4 on a scale of 1-10. I am sure that their steaks would have been good? But pricey at over $20+ though... Give it a try and maybe you will have a better experience with the food that you choose. :)

Stopped in on our way down to Denver from grand lake. Cute place. We were excited to try it. Disclosure: we are from Denver and San Francisco, not Granby. Menu is strange and all over the place, but you can find something for everyone. Kids menu has a good selection. Server was really friendly and nice. Food. The food was terrible. We were really sad since we SO wanted to like it. My husband ordered the steak frites and the steak was pounded thin, overlooked, and tasteless. I ordered the chicken marsala recommended by the server and was surprised to find it a salty sauce made with a lot of sundried tomatoes. Even our daughter's noodles with red sauce was nearly inedible. Way over cooked noodles with watery sauce. And strangest of all, the butter served with the bread tasted strange. It looked fresh and seemed fine but tasted of refrigerator. When an 8 year old spits out bread and butter you know something is wrong. In addition the portions are HUGE. Like strangely huge. And when it doesn't taste good, the larger the portion, the more unappetizing the experience. I know people on yelp give this place more stars "for Granby" and would give fewer stars in Denver; but I feel like for all the attention put into the decor and service, I think they are not bothering to taste their food. That is bad no matter where you are and deserves to be rated accordingly. But I hope they get it together since the space is nice (what's with the strange kitchen?) and Granby deserves a good spot. I have to say I think they'd be more successful doing high end quality basics like gourmet burgers rather than trying to be too much. (Ahi stacks and gyros and steak?) Two stars for service and ambiance and feta garlic bread.

The menu looks great, the environment is pretty cool, but it nose dives pretty quickly after that. The service is terrible (Brad was our server). He was surly and seemed inconvenienced by our presence for lunch. He brought us the wrong food before coming back and taking it to another table. The kid's steak meal that my son ordered was supposed to come with an appetizer and carrots. The waiter forgot them and when I asked him at the end of the meal, he said he forgot them and they weren't very good anyway. The kid's steak was ordered medium, it showed up medium-rare to rare. My wife's gyro was average. My burger (Amy's Burger) was a great concept, but the kitchen did a horrible job putting it together. At the end of the meal, the waiter took my food away before I'd even finished and didn't even ask if I was done. Let's hope that this place gets a new staff and can live up to its potential.

Nice, upscale place to eat in Granby, CO. They seat groups of 2 to 6 at both the bar or restaurant. We had drinks and calamari to start; great way to begin the meal. Husband ordered chicken reggiani and I had baked pasta. Both were cooked to perfection! I had a cocktail and husband had an ODell bottle. They don't have much on tap, but had a variety of bottles. We enjoyed our meal. The waitstaff was helpful and knowledgeable as well.

Wow, what a great meal we just enjoyed along with the warmest hospitality! My husband and I own a condo in the area and have not found the right time to enjoy Brick House 40 until this afternoon. We were greeted by our server and the owner/executive chef (Dino) and treated to a variety of wonderful eats. The restaurant is much bigger than we imagined, the ambience is upscale yet also stylishly rustic, and there's a variety of seating options (bar seating, comfortable couch area, high tables, and regular dining area). My kids had a pepperoni pizza that was to die for, and my husband and I shared a chicken Cesar salad, Greek sampler appetizer platter, and Dino's special shrimp. We have eaten all of the world and still cannot believe the quality and taste of food we just enjoyed! So excited that it is right here in Granby! Don't miss the happy hour specials as well as the sugar cookies they serve to the kiddos. Thank you Dino, we'll be back as soon as we're in town again! Kate & Charles

I went there while on vacation because of some great reviews, but they were pretty misleading. First of all, you have to be in the bar area to get any happy hour specials, which wasn't mentioned until we were seated. We were seated near the open kitchen and when I ordered the special, the chef was a total jerk to the waitress about how it was a lunch special and the sign needed to be taken down immediately. Still, they made it for us and it was pretty good. Unfortunately, the huge side of fries that came with the sandwich were barely cooked at all. The waitress couldn't have been nicer, but the chefs were audibly rude to her about our order and our complaint about the fries (and we didn't even ask for a replacement). They were so unprofessional and it completely ruined dinner. And while the drink was pretty good, it was WAY overpriced. Not that I frequent Grandby too often, but I won't be returning there.

We had a reservation for a large group and with people traveling out of state the restaurant called to cancel out 50th birthday celebration. They told us the owner wanted the table for himself. No apology no attempt to set up something else. The worst customer service I have experienced. Please join with us in never going there to spend your hard money on a restaurant that does care about customer service.

This was a pretty good place. My friend & I had the New York Strip & Top Sirloin with the House Seasoning. Very tasty. Good service & reasonably priced for the quality of the food. Would come back if I'm in this part of the country again.

I agree with another reviewer who said 3 stars if in Denver, but, hey, this is Granby! There are very, very ,very few decent places to eat in Granby, and I put Brickhouse 40 at the top of the list. The food is very good, not perfect, the prices are moderate, the service seems to be getting better. We drive 30 minutes from Grand Lake to eat here on a Sunday night, when The Terrace in Grand Lake is closed.

Have been stopping here for several years for both lunch and dinner. The food is excellent and the service prompt and professional. They have to die for Greek food and the specials are great if your in Granby this place is worth a visit For history buffs this is in one if the oldest buildings in Granby. As a child I remember that there was a grocery store on one side and Long's hardware store where the restaurant is now.

We drove through Granby after a long day at RMNP, looking for somewhere nice to have dinner and, from the street, this place looked like it fit the bill. Wrong. DON'T BOTHER STOPPING. This place was a joke and, in my opinion, it's due to horrible management. We were rudely greeted by the bartender as she rushed by telling us it was going to be a VERY long wait. Half the tables in the place were empty and there were no other customers waiting to be seated. We just stood there for a minute, trying to figure out if some sort of professional greeting by a hostess would follow. However, by the time our party of 5 was all in the door, we were told by the bartender to go somewhere else if we wanted to eat. I spoke up and asked "why?" as the place was noticeably not overwhelmingly busy. The bartender called back "because we just lost 2 chefs". Sure whatever, we left. How completely unprofessional. The bartender is either an owner or really good friends with a crappy manager because her approach was downright pathetic. Don't go here.

I was excited to try this restaurant as we spend many summer weekends in Grand Lake and have passed this place many times. AND I love Greek food. Meh, it was just ok. Service was just ok, food was just ok. Meh.

Food was ok. Beer selection is pretty lame for a Colorado bar. Service was ok. Waiter was cool but the food came out in waves with a huge gap between them.

Poor excuse for Italian food. The chicken marsala with white wine cherry was soaked in cherry that hadn't been cooked off. it was like eating the worst meat cocktail anyone could ever have imagined. cook off the alcohol people.

Good menu and great wine list. Horrible service. Waitress was very slow for everything she did! After waiting a full 5 min for menus she 1st told us she was a bartender and is bad at waiting tables. One entree came out cold, with the wrong side and missing the other side too! She didn't have a "2 bite" check so we had to take out entree back inside ourself and ask for it to be warmed up. When she came back out she didn't even see the 100% missing entree we took back in! Wow.... Do NOT recommend.

You don't really have a choice if you're out in Granby or within about 15 miles. The pizza was salty, steak and fries were just mediocre, mac n cheese was a bit on the bland side, saganaki was just for the fire show, but the beet salad was the only thing I liked. 1 out of 5 dishes? Maybe we should have tried the other restaurant we saw 5 miles ago. Service was lacking, our water was never refilled until we had asked. Our waitress even saw me pouring the last drop when she came by and didn't automatically grab the empty bottle. They have an open kitchen so we were able to see that our food was ready for about 10 minutes just sitting on the counter, but our waitress was nowhere to be found. The one thing that I did enjoy was the live band playing in the bar area. They have happy hour specials which are also only available at the bar/lounge.

Do not go here. Came with a party of 6 on a Sunday. Hostess seated us promptly, waiter came out and gave us menus, we ordered drinks (half the beers on the menu were out), and then after 20 minutes at the restaurant the waiter decided to tell us that "Oh by the way, we're only serving appetizers because we are out of meat, buns, vegetables, basically everything that compose the actual food items on the menu." Would have been nice if the hostess decided to let us know that this "restaurant" didn't actually have any food to serve.

2/27/2015 Happy 6th birthday Brickhouse 40! We came back during ski season and today is my hubby's birthday too. We made reservations earlier today as there was a live band playing in celebration of the restaurant's anniversary. We were lucky enough to get Sabrina as our server again! She is really terrific. I'm not a fan of folk music, and that's what was playing on stage. Live and loud; too loud. Could not converse with the music being so loud. Loss of a star. We got the yummy gyros appetizer and ordered our entrees with a expensive bottle of wine. Our favorite chef was no longer working there and we tried to order the same things as last time, but it was an epic fail. Our dishes were overloaded with canned, pickled jalapeños which ruined the flavor due to the vinegar used in pickling process. I had it sent back and the owner took it upon himself to have it redone. It came back with fewer pickled jalapeños but still not fresh ones like before. bleh. Loss of another star. I do like the ambience of this place, but it is lacking something that it had before. One thing is missing, a fabulous chef with amazing and creative cooking skills!! I may or may not return.

BEWARE! We were driving through Granby on our way to Grand Lake and decided to stop in here for lunch. Almost directly after we were seated I inquired about one of the beers they had on tap from Grand Lake Brewery noting I had seen online that the taproom in Grand Lake had closed, and asked if this was true. The waitress said she was new and wasn't sure. I asked her about the beer itself, if she'd recommend it, and she said once more that she was new and she hadn't yet tried it. Now I truly do understand what being a new server is like, because I've been a server for the last 6 years of my life. Not having a complete knowledge of the menu is normal, but often new servers will direct questions to more knowledgable staff, or repeat the question and return with an answer for their own sake as well as that of the patron. After she brought the beer, which I'm glad I ordered because it wound up being the only satisfying part of my meal, we didn't see her again for another 15 minutes. When she finally arrived I asked about pasta I had seen about on Yelp and she said she didn't know what the dinner staff served and so we ordered. The food took another 40 minutes. At about the 30 minute mark we asked how much longer it would take for the meal to be ready and the server sort of mumbled something about only having one cook on staff and just walked away. Once the food did arrive we noticed the stuffed portobello my father ordered looked more like a burger than the speciality is was described as. It also had a mound of what looked like sour cream slathered on top, it was inedible. He had also asked to substitute onion rings for his fries, and they never made it out. When he asked after our server about them, she said "oh yes let me check on them." And he began to say "never mind about them," but she cut him off by briskly walking away. And STILL they never came. My Tri-Tip Au Jus was just about as bad. The bread was stale and I couldn't even chew it up enough to get it down, even with drenching it in the Au Jus sauce. The fries were over seasoned and just to have some substance for lunch I drowned them in ketchup in order to eat them. My mother ordered the calzone, it was sub par but at least edible. She had the least complaints with this item. About 10 minutes into eating our server made it back by to check on the taste and I informed her of the issues we were experiencing with the food. My father had stopped eating his dish completely and I could even get mine down. She once again repeated she was new and didn't know anything about how the food was cooked and asked if she could take our plates out of the way. We let her and asked for the check. We directly slide our debit card into the book and waited another 5-10 minutes for her to come retrieve it. We relented and walked it up behind the bar to where she was having her long conversation with a coworker to hand it to her. I know first hand what being understaffed and ran looks like, and that wasn't the case here. I imagine this restaurant only stays open of the off chance an out of towner will stop in, unwarned, and suffer through a meal here. I would never recommend this restaurant. I will never return to eat here again, and now as the food I did manage to choke down isn't sitting well I advise you steer clear. You will wind up paying good money for a terrible experience.

We were driving through Granby and did not expect to find this gem while we were there. First of all, the service was excellent! We had our dogs traveling with us and though they wouldn't allow them ON the patio, they allowed us to tie them up just outside the patio and provided shade and water for them. Our waiter, Will, was one of the best servers around. He was friendly and pleasant and very attentive without being overbearing. We ordered burgers and they were some of the best hamburgers we have ever eaten! I would highly recommend a stop at Brickhouse 40.

What they don't tell you is that their kitchen closes at 10pm if you're SEATED by 8:30pm. Do not show up at 8:31 and expect a seat from the sassy hostess, because she will not do a damn thing for you. Don't believe their voice system that tells you their kitchen is open until 10pm on a Saturday, it's all a lie.

This place had a good atmosphere. Wait staff is polite and professional. I just found the food lacking for the prices they were charging. It was good food, but for the price I was expecting more. I have been there twice and felt the same way both times.

We never go here if we are in a hurry! If you have time, and are content with appetizers and drinks, it is great! Their Greek specialty appetizers are very good, and usually arrive within a reasonable amount of time. The staff has always been nice to us, the food has been delish! It can be slow, busy or not!

Worst Service I have ever experienced. A sign that says please wait to be seated and we waited for 5 minutes until I walked up to the waitress. She didn't come to our table or acknowledge us for almost 10 minutes before we got up and left. Not to mention she had an awful attitude. Lunch menu is pretty much non-existent. Don't waste your money.

We had a party of 11 on Aug 4th. Service was decent, but orders and food not so much. 3 people in our group ordered dinners with rice in them. Spaghetti was substituted without telling or asking us. Apparently they had no rice but didn't bother to tell us. Two dinners were supposed to have creamy wine sauce but came with a no creamy vinegar and capers. Two other dinners stated angel hair pasta but came with regular spaghetti, a minor thing, but it goes with the theme of giving us whatever they wanted without telling us. Some of the food was good, but a lot was not. It was pretty pricey as well. A 12" pizza with several toppings was $22. The gyros were $12. Others from our wedding party who went earlier in the week said they loved it. That certainly was not our experience.

Okay, I do not post about restaurants much. Actually this is my first post on Yelp. However it is not a good one I hate to say. The food at BH40 is okay. The mashed potatoes were way too salty, and the top sirloin was drenched in the demi glaze that was also very salty. Just a tip to the chef that when using high powered sauces the main of the course should ride on top of the sauce instead of under it. Now onto the really sad part which is the service. The waiter who first greeted us was nice and cordial, and asked us for our drink order. The bar was out of draft IPA which was on the menu but was not available. When the waiter came back to take our order we ordered the Rack of Lamb and Top Sirloin and a couple of kids pizzas for our kids and a wedge salad for my wife and I to split. The waiter said great and went on his way. Shortly after our waiter returned to state that they were out of the Lamb because they just sold the last one, at 6:30 on a Sunday...hmm okay whatever. Then we enjoyed our beers and chatted for a while. Then we finished our beers. Then we finished all of the water on the table. We were wondering where our food was, and we were getting thirsty since the restaurant does not have AC and we were sitting by the kitchen where it is quite warm. Our food came out and the salad came out with all of the rest of the food (first world problem I know, but still frustrating). The waiter took the water bottle and said he would be right back with more. After 5 or so minutes I got up and found our waiter to request more water at the table. One of the other employees brought us the water finally. We started eating and that was the last we saw of our waiter, he never stopped to check on us. We finished our meals and sat for about 10 min before I flagged down another another waitress and let her know of our displeasure. She said she would get our check and did give us 10% off. However, our original waiter never returned to apologize or check on us at all. There are not many high quality restaurants in the Grand Valley and we have tried them all over the years. For my money I would stick with the Tabernash Tavern or Deno's for better food and much better service.

On vacation up in Granby, we ate here. There aren't many places to eat in Granby so we picked this place. The hotel we were staying had an outdated menu in the room, and Brick House 40 did not have the cut of steak he wanted on the menu anymore. (Rib Eye). We split the calamari as appetizer. I had a local brew (Wooly Booger), and the Spicy Tuna Stack. The Tuna Stack came out WAY TOO fast. I've seen Kitchen Nightmares enough to know that's not a good sign. It was just meh as well. The tuna tasted frozen, the rice was gummy, the avocados seemed to have been cut like 4 hours previously. I didn't even finish it. My boyfriend had a steak and mashed potatoes. He didn't say anything remarkable about either of them, and I got the feeling he was leaning towards he's had much better before for less money. We split the Greek Honey Balls for dessert. Those were excellent. If we're in Granby again I won't be eating here. Very overpriced for what you're getting. Nice inside though, really nice decor. At least there's that.

We stopped for lunch on the way thru town. Great building, cool space. Bad service. Bad food. Do not eat here. It took a long time for a surly server to toss a jar of water and glasses on our table. Caesar salads were too-old lettuce drenched in dressing. The carrot ginger soup was in edible. The YIa fries were so greasy they weren't edible. To be fair, the burgers were "ok" according to the 2 in our group who had them. Onion rings were "worst" my 77 year old dad has had (and he's had a few) With lousy food and service there is no reason to go here.

The Gyro burger was really really good. I'm not sure I've ever had a burger with that much stuff stacked on top, but they pull it off well. We had greek donuts for desert which were also very good.

We celebrated a Wedding Rehearsal dinner at Brickhouse 40 and had a wonderful experience! 86 guests bring all sorts of management and menu problems, but Dino and his staff were helpful and friendly throughout the night. (I had seen negative comments about service, so I was a little concerned). Most guests had never been there and we didn't know what to expect. We had a fixed menu of prime rib, salmon in lemon butter and Chicken Marsala. The guest said that the chicken and salmon dishes were some of the best they had ever tasted. The prime rib was seasoned well and ample portions with great home made mashed potatoes. His bar staff kept up with the crowd demands and one guest who had glutton and dairy issues said that the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Dino was a little difficult to communicate with to get the details nailed down, but he assured us "not to worry". And sure enough, everything worked out great- price, service and food. We will certainly be back again!

The crab cakes were so tasty and moist, and the lemon caper sauce for the shrimp was PERFECT!! The chocolate cake was moist and tasty too, and the coconut almond bars were so awesome that we took them home with us to eat while hiking the next day. Was fairly disappointed in the salads, but everything else more than made up for it.

Okay. Here's the lowdown on this place. It's deep in the Rocky Mtns. just north of Winter Park, CO. Probably one of the only reasons you'd be here is if you were vacationing through or going to Lake Granby. Brick House 40 used to be a remodeling home store and it still shows in the decor. In fact, interestingly they use some of the showcase areas as serving areas now. They really try with their food but I think they overstate their ability to actually serve it they way they're wanting to be. It's a great historical brick building with heavy timber beams inside and a unique flair. It's because I really like architecture that this place even got two stars. My major complaint other than the food was the inexperienced bartender who had some borderline rude comments. Not only was he under entertaining but trying too hard and all with the wrong comments like, "pissing in the lakes that make the beer". Yep. There were more of those but I'll spare you the reader from having to read them. Bottom line: I would've stayed longer but the service was unprofessional and I won't be going back. It's a shame to the restaurant profession to have had this feeling as a customer when I left.

Visiting Grand Lake for the week. We went over to Granby for the afternoon. There were not many options open for a late lunch, but Brick House 40 accommodated us. We had to sit in the bar area, but that was fine for us. They have several unique burgers on the menu. I had the burger with pulled pork. My partner had the Burger with gyro meat atop. Both were delicious. Our server was efficient, and even brought a carafe of lemonade to help keep us hydrated in the mountain climate. Would return for sure!

Let me start by saying the food was really good! Surprisingly good! My husband ordered the Osso Bucco and thought it was great. I had the Spanakopita and it was also very good. But the service? Not so great. The hostess was very rude- she took us to a table, we sat down, there was an open door to a patio right next to me and it was blowing in cold air at 7:00 pm. We asked "could we please move? The door is kind of cold". The hostess said "there are no more tables." We glanced around, saw a few open tables, pointed at some, and said "what about...?' and she interrupted us saying "there are no more tables." Ok. Those tables never did fill up, by the way. I kept closing the door myself as waitstaff went through it throughout our meal. Another patron also thanked me for closing the door each time as she said she was freezing all evening. It took more than 20 minutes for us to receive our drinks- we had already eaten our salads. The waitress said it was because the bartender got backed up, but there were exactly 2 people at the bar, and 2 bartenders behind the bar. Clearly she had forgotten. The bus boy was very young and very sweet, and he was clearing a table and spilled a glass of water which apparently splashed the same hostess mentioned above- and she lost it. Yelled at him, shook her head, sighed loudly, stomped off, came back with a waitress and kept saying "he spilled water everywhere!" It was ridiculous. Seating is crowded. Service is not good. Prices are too high. But the food is really good. You decide if it is worth it. I doubt I would go back.

This place was pretty awesome. We are here for lunch on 7/30/14. The food was decent; my husband had a burger which he loved and I had the spinokopita which I liked. The restaurant had a little toy corner and our kids' meals came with "appetizers" (cheerios, mandarin oranges and saltines) which was pretty cute. The server was nice and friendly although not very knowledgable but she said she was new so all was forgiven. I would recommend this restaurant if you happen to be in Granby.

Great little find after a day on the slopes at Granby Ranch. Delicious pasta dishes and a PERFECT PLACE FOR KIDS Immediately brought out snacks for our kid, then not just a few dessert but a cookie they get to decorate We got in early but it got rather crowded by 630 so call ahead Our chicken Marsala and truffle Mac and cheese were delicious as was the Caesar Salad To top it off our waiter was great. Joked with our son and even gave him a few snowboarding tips. Highly recommend !! 5 min from Granby Ranch- stop by We are in dining area but bar was nicely done and quite hopping on this Saturday evening

We ate here our first night in town. It was the most crowded place in town which is usually a good clue. The atmosphere was pretty nice, kind of a bistro type of place. The service was below average. I asked the server for a recommendation on beer because wasnt familiar and she said i dont drink beer so i have no idea. Food was good though. Had a steak and it was just right. Overall i would eat here again when in Granby.

I thought Brickhouse 40 was surprisingly good. Our server was very prompt and friendly. She was knowledgeable about the wine list and the menu. She had some great recommendations off the menu that were her favorites. It was a difficult menu to traverse, it ranged from pizza, to pasta, seafood, to traditional Greek, then to steaks! These types of menus tend to scare me a bit, as they are really not focused and I fear the food can not be committed to. We started with the feta garlic bread. It was delicious! I loved it. What a great combo that I never would have thought about. There was still some Parmesan on it, but it was the feta that made it melty and flavorful. The bread was baked until just the right minute, the outside was crispy and the inside was light and fluffy. For my meal I went with spanikopita. There were many Greek dishes on the menu so I had a feeling this was going to be good, it just jumped out at me. It was huge, I couldn't believe the portion size. This dish was served with a side of rice. It was very good. My husband had the pork kabob served with hand cut fries. I am not sure what the sauce for the pork was, but I loved it. It really tasted great with the fresh fries. It was a dark brown glaze of some sort. It was full of flavor. My father had steak and frites, and again, what a huge portion. The steak was topped with a blue cheese butter. I was envious of his dish, but I just wasn't hungry enough for such a large meal. My mother had spaghetti. She said she enjoyed the sauce, it was simmered with cinnamon giving it a hint of sweetness, which she loves. We shared the Greek puffs for dessert. I thought the interior of the restaurant was very nice. Brickhouse 40 is the first brick building built in Grandby, I believe in 1927. Most of the brick is exposed and the ceilings are so tall. The dim lights and candles throughout the restaurant give this place a very nice feel. It made for a really nice, warm dinner after a long day of road tripping.

I was here during slow season and was the only patron in the restaurant and there was one other patron at the bar. The food was OK, but it was better when I was here during the busy summer season. I ordered saganaki appetizer and the waitress did the fire presentation on the table right in front of me and almost burned my face off and got splattering grease all over the table and my clothes, very inexperienced at food presentation and waitressing indeed. You would think a restaurant serving Saganaki would have a manager or chef that would train the staff on presentation. I ordered a Greek salad and the lettuce was wilted a little, so I only ate about 1/3 of the salad that wasn't wilted. I ordered the special which was a NY Strip and 3 shrimp. The 3 shrimp were overly oily and were cooked at too high of a temperature, which made them super crispy but had a burned oil flavor. The steak was overly seasoned, and not marinated at all, just tons of Rosemary which made it a bit difficult to eat and the steak was pretty tuff. I think the steak was thrown on the grill frozen and never thawed or pre-seasoned. If McDonalds can figure out how to cook meat why can't a restaurant serving $20 steak? It was slow season, they fed me for $50 for one person, I think the problem was a lack of management and an unsupervised staff yackity yacking the entire time which was my reason for 2 stars. Shut up and work server and kitchen staff, I could hear every annoying word you said through my expensive uneventful meal.

BH 40 was the first bad meal we had in Granby. The food and service were horrible. My veal had an odd bitter flavor, the vegetables were old, frozen, and more importantly the broccoli was yellow and rotten. My wife's moussaka was microwaved, hot on the outside and cold in the center. It had hardly any eggplant and no ground beef. It didn't even come as advertised, with béchamel sauce; rather it was drowned in tomato sauce. Hers also came with the same frozen rotten veggies. The service was non-existent and the manager had an attitude. If you want good food and service go someplace else in Granby!

We just ate here. It started out great, the waitress brought our 2 year old mandarin oranges and Cheerios and coloring stuff....we ordered right away. The waitress forgot to put our order in....didn't tell us about the mess up, avoided the situation, instead of trying to fix it, resulting in us getting our good pork chop and chicken salad an hour after we ordered. Kinda stinks cause we just bought a place in Grand Lake and this could have been a good stop off on the way back to Denver.

Visiting the Granby area for business & curiosity, was recommended Brickhouse 40 by a coworker. Atmosphere, food & service were all excellent. A Greek influenced restaurant, Greek sampler app was great & the special of the porterhouse pork chop w/Chipotle glaze was wonderful. Perfectly cooked, nice & tender, even as leftovers. Drinks were high quality & well mixed. I highly recommend the "pineapple upside down cake" as a sweet after dinner beverage. Will definitely go again, & highly recommend if you are in the area.
