    Drivin thru and found this place on yelp and stopped for a late lunch. Wow! So happy we did. Atmosphere is nice. Food was unique and delicious. I had soft shell crab BLT which came with home made fries!! OMG. So good. Husband had the pad Thai which he really enjoyed. It was not the standard pad Thai. Peppermint iced tea was also dee-lish!! Oh yeah, and the men's room was super clean. If you're passing thru and want a great meal that is memorable, unique and really yummy, try this place out - you'll be glad you did!!

    Tried on the recommendation of friends. Staff was friendly, but tables were so close together it was almost claustrophobic Despite the descriptions of why each entree was so spectacular on the menu, the food was ordinary and overpriced. My wife had a burger and I tried the pad thai. As others have said, there really isn't much else in Genessee. I will pay good money all day for great food, but I hate overpaying for ordinary food in a pretentious phony atmosphere

    Overall a pretty good place. I went there during brunch ON A FRIDAY so that way awesome. I've never been to a place with Friday brunch. Erica, the bartender, was very cool. She was welcoming and will let you try any beer and wines you want. I told her I probably wouldn't drink any wine in which she responded that she was still happy to let me try any and as many as I wanted. The Seabass is decent, but nothing to exciting. They try it with cous cous and a extra side of carrot demi to drizzle over it. It get a 5 star more for the ambiance and service. Definitely plan to visit on my next trip to Denver.

    Awesome place tucked away in the foothills!We came to visit some family and friends and they recommended we check this place out. The chef is very accommodating with special diet needs but doesn't leave out flavor. Wish we lived closer so we could become regulars!

    Went for happy hour for my friends birthday and this place is really cool. Good crowd and atmosphere. I had a $4 glass of Grenache during happy hour and it's a really good wine for $4. The group ordered happy hour appetizers to share. I am trying to eat gluten free and every thing looked really good but all I had was the brussell sprouts. The dinner menu looks impressive and the entrees the table next to us looked yummy. I need to come back for dinner. It's a fun place to meet for drinks and happy hour. Will be back.

    Went for Sunday brunch as friends had been for evening and raved about this place. Claim to fame is comfort food with a twist. It was twisted alright. First it's has a modern artsy industrial look. Very nice and clean. Could be too loud if full. It was not busy with 3 tables. The waitress came up as soon as I sat after my bathroom visit asking for drink orders. I asked for a minute. And within a minute she was back. I opted for the lobster omelet. The yelp menu shows it with asparagus but the table menu shows it with avocado. It arrived luke warm wrapped in paper thin egg that resembled a burned crepe. It was the size of my hand (ok 1" longer), I wear a small glove. It was missing the cheese. Now it did have a fair amount if lobster & avocado. It was also served with hash browns that appeared to be run thru a cheese grater then deep fried and left under the warming lamp, served up without seasoning and cold. Serving size was about the 1/2 the size of the omelet. I get the lets put a twist on moms breakfast staple but..... No flavor no substance. Like cotton candy without the enjoyment. 3 mini melon balls are served in a wooden bowl on the Japanese square luncheon plate 9x9. Ok, now hubby's food. The reason he wanted to go. The colorado eggs Benedict. The yelp picture shows a nice piece of elk medallion on each English muffin with large poached eggs & hollandaise ladled over them. Menu says home fries are served with it. He got the same cold ones I did. His elk, if it was even elk, was not a medallion but two pieces about 1/2" wide and just long enough to fit on each muffin and sliced so thin. The meat was charred because it was reheated from the larger piece which made it tasteless and chewy. I think the increase profit idea by using last nite didn't sell and let's skimp on the serving till it's gone idea needs work. The eggs barely covered the muffin and one was missing its yolk. It looked like they served one egg for two muffins. I tasted his egg it was cold not even warm. His plate was barely warm too.He got the same fruit I did. When asked how was our food, I told our server it was cold. I got a really kinda look. She offered to reheat mine. Did not offer to do so for hubby. However he did not speak up even after I said OUR food was cold. The server did not ask him directly if his was ok, which when one plate is a problem they should check with the other patrons at the table. When my plate came back it was a new omelet much fluffier but same cold hash browns. Still no cheese and still looked like a 1 egg serving. Hubby ate his as he was starving (was 10:45 and looking for brunch) so for a $30 brunch with 1 hot tea & water I'd say go elsewhere. We left hungry and disappointed!!! On our way home I joked about stopping at Mickey D's to get full! (& I mean joked) Being that we live pretty close and most reviews are for dinner........I might try happy hour before I spend $ to venture a dinner here that way I can get a plate preview.

    New to the area and rely highly on Yelp for places to go, The décor was worthy of a NYC restaurant and the food the same. Its atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, but the delivery of food was fine dining. The music wasn't so loud that I couldn't hear my partner speak, this is a problem in so many places we go and the music was up beat without jamming. The staff were all friendly and knowledgeable about the menu items. Our service was timed perfectly, quick without being rushed. The food was delicious, presented artistically, and the right amount (although still some to bring home). The beer and wine list were full of good choices as well. With the amphitheater outside, this will be a must stop in warmer weather, although we will certainly be back way before then.

    The work put into the restaurant space was well worth the wait. It is comfortable, yet trendy. The host/hostess station greeted us warmly and and the great service continued throughout the dinner service. The food ordered from our table all looked delicious and freshly prepared.... and the bites I had of each were all very good. My reason for not Hideaway 5 stars is I felt the prices did not match the serving sizes. It was a bit overpriced for what we got. With this said though, we will defintely be going back, since it's the only quality restaurant in Genesee.

    Super cozy, great food, and a way above average friendly staff. The vibe leans toward upscale but in a completely unpretentious way. Dark wood shelving lines the walls of the bar and dining room that displays wine, hot sauce, and other must-have grocery items. Comfy seats, intimate tables, and ultra-dimmed lighting provide the contrasting illusion of being in a swanky country club and your living room all in the same moment. We brought our 1YO and 3YO daughters (we always do) who had a blast playing around in the oversized half-circle booth by the windows. Plenty of crayons and paper to keep them busy and the waitress brought them a veggie peanut butter dipping plate right away. The menu is bursting with creative dishes so we ordered more off the appetizer section than we did the entrees, just so we could try as much as possible. I'm not normally a dessert person but believe me, save room or you would miss out on an essential piece of this eatery's DNA. Lots of great wine selections at very reasonable prices. Even better if you get there before 7 for happy hour. There's a decent focus on craft beer, especially local, but it's the one place I'd like to see them expand a bit. Some of the new nano brewers in Denver would do well to get a keg or two up here and pair some dishes together. We're psyched, easily one of the best overall places on the Front Range for our 3/4 vegetarian, locavore insisting, kid-toting, craft beer loving, wine sipping, foodie freak fest we call our family.

    Finally a place in the mountains that is a bit more sophisticated. Really good creative food, great atmosphere....reminds me of Europe. Thank god that there is an alternative to the lame Charthouse!

    The food was terrible. I had the gnocchi with brussel sprouts and chicken sausage- the gnocchi was inedible, hard and extremely chewy. The sausage was cold and the brussel sprouts were flavorless. My bf's fried chicken and mashed potatoes were $20 something and didn't have any flavor, the chicken was dry, thin and heavy. $60 before tip for two entrees, a glass of wine and a beer. What a waste of money!!

    I have been here twice in the last week. The Miso Salmon salad and the polenta lasagna are delicious! My husband tried the pad Thai and the fish and chips and enjoyed them both! Highly recommend!

    Sorry but this place was terrible. Just ate here last night and still feeling the affects of undercooked contaminated fish. See the pics I posted and you'll see it's true. I had the Salmon Salad with Miso dressing and the salmon was burned on one side and completely raw inside. The dressing was so salty it was inedible.... And I tend to like salty food but this was ridiculous. My boyfriend had the Sea Bass and his was raw also. Looked like it barely touched heat at all. He said the dish didn't have much flavor and what flavor it had wasn't very tasty. He ate his because e was starving but I only took a taste of mine and left the rest on the plate. The waiter could see that something was wrong but he didn't ask about it.... Only asked if he could remove the plate or not. They saw me taking pics of my plate. You'd think someone would have tried to save my review. Most of the wait staff was not friendly and didn't smile. Our waiter did but the rest of the staff were not friendly. Very small portions for a very hefty price. With two entrées, one appetizer and one glass of wine (not each, just one) the bill was $65 plus tip. I can think if many other places I'd rather dine for that kind of money. Disappointing because we live in the neighborhood and were excited to have a new place to dine. Our stomachs are paying the price all night and this morning as you can imagine. Save yourself and your money.

    Service was good, all if the staff we came across was polite and helpful. My boyfriend had the BBQ chicken. It was pretty burnt and the pieces were flipped over so no one would see and my hoisin ribs were tasty and interesting, but overpoweringly salty, and I LOVE salt, to a fault. The manager took care of the chicken AND the new dish he got, which was thoughtful. Calamari was good. Flavors otherwise were too salty.

    Awesome little find on the way home from skiing. Food was amazing. Place is adorable. Staff was really nice. I had the Osso Bucco which was to die for. My husband had a basic cheeseburger which looked out if this world. (He said it was great.). Their motto is "comfort food with no boundaries.". Will definitely be going back. Such a great experience.

    Visited on "soft opening" night (they open to the public Nov 1, 2012). Beautiful decor, ideal lighting (not too bright, but you can actually read your menus and see what you are eating) and a great vibe. The food and service were excellent. It is billed as "comfort food with no ethnic boundaries", and it fits the bill perfectly. Our table ordered calamari and watermelon salad, buffalo chicken won tons, pad thai, chimichurri steak, lobster mac n' cheese, and pork carnitas tacos, and they were all delicious. I am definitely going back again!

    Went based on a friends recommendation. Tables are real tight but a cute layout. We started with the Ceviche appetizer. Nothing special. Needed more flavoring. Missing that lime or citrus flavoring. We had the Fish and Chips and the Burger. Fish was dripping grease and undercooked inside. French Fries had the same issue, greasy. Portion was real real small and over priced. Burger was good but over priced. Might go back and try the $5 appetizers next time instead. Not sure if they just had a bad day in the kitchen.

    I really want to be a fan of the Hideaway, and I'm almost there. I like the atmosphere, the staff is attentive and friendly, and the menu is creative. I've been here about 5 times so far so its definitely good enough to get us to return. Its "in our neighborhood" and there isn't much else that's close in the Genesee/Lookout Mountain area so that's definitely a major benefit. I do think it's a bit too expensive for frequent dining: for example my wife had duck quesadillas and a beer, I had pad thai and water total was $50 with tip. That's pretty steep. My biggest complaint is that the food is frequently overly seasoned... and I like heavy seasoning. In the last two visits: The Osso Buco was delicious with a Korean BBQ sauce (think Hoisin), but the dish was so salty that I couldn't finish it. The Pad Thai is a little creative with a little mild curry sauce, but I think they must have dumped a tablespoon of garlic in my bowl - it was visible small chunks throughout- I don't expect heavy garlic with a Pad Thai (many Pad Thai recipes have no garlic, or at most around a teaspoon per serving). This would have been at home at a Stinking Rose restaurant. On other visits the burger was good (though it could have been great given the quality of the ingredients), and a brunch was nice enough. I'll be back, but I'll be very specific when I order and ask lots of questions about the dishes I'm considering.

    The Hideaway is a great part of the neighborhood. There aren't many options in the area (without going all the way to Evergreen) and most are chain or quick-serve places. The dining area has a great look and feel and the outside seating is great for a warm night. The service is friendly and attentive. While the menu is fun and the food is good, quality can be spotty.

    The chef here is an artist. The menu items are well thought out, savory, and artistically prepared. I could eat at this place all week! I had the eggs wellington and my friend had the what looked like an elk Mcmuffin. Despite the Aspen looking clientele the staff was courteous, friendly and professional. Over all a 5 star experience.

    After reading the good reviews I had to give it a try. The service was good and despite it being in a strip mall the atmosphere was very inviting, especially the bar. I ordered the Panagos salad which I enjoyed but was surprised to see how small the portion was given the $10 price tag. It was really just a tomato, slicea of cucumber, peppers, and onions, with feta and olives. Given the restaurant's other redeeming qualities and daily happy hour I'll be back with the hope of adding another star if my next meal is a better value.

    Went here once for dinner and once for afternoon apps. Dinner was excellent. Fresh food from scratch. Recommend the burger. Made with brisket, short rib and chuck! The apps were good but the chicken wings could have used another minute in the fryer. Try the Philly Cheese steak egg roll.

    Lobster appetizers were good. Calamari appetizer was okay. Spicy but a bit greasy. Had the cheeseburger and I would have preferred In-N-Out burger! Meat had no flavor and there was nothing about it that made me ever want to come back for another. For the price of the cheeseburger I expected to be wowed and it was just okay. Wait staff was attentive and friendly.

    I will mimic the other review - this is a great restaurant! The interior space looks great, it has that casual home-like feeling but really well designed with attention to detail!! I attended the friends and family, but even though it was a trail run all the staff had it down. Our server was able to explain the food and offer pairings. The menu is delicious and extensive - no one will go hungry here!! Prices are great, reasonable for a family going out to dinner! They have an awesome cocktail menu, extensive wine list and lots of beers on tap. Great family atmosphere and they have a great patio that I think will be open in the summer if not sooner! It is tucked away and in an unexpected location, but it is totally worth the drive or a perfect hidden gem if you are coming down from the mountains!! Please go check it out - you will not be disappointed!!

    The reason for 3 stars vs. 2 is the ambiance/decor of the restaurant and the wait staff. SUCH a cute place, can imagine what the outdoor patio would be like in better weather. I SO wanted to like the food ... but alas, didn't happen. We had a sampling of the appetizers - most weren't very warm, ie. cheese on quesadilla wasn't melted, and tasted average at best. I ordered the pad thai and had a very different experience than another reviewer - it was so salty I thought I might need medical attention. And I am a salt fan. I never return dishes but had to with this one - it was inedible. Our waitress was great - she shared the chef sometimes has a "heavy hand" ... someone needs to help lighten him up. Second try - even with a very light hand, the dish was way too salty for me to eat. Wound up simply eating the shrimp and tofu. Others shared they were only somewhat satisfied with their meals. Wine list is good - but extremely pricy (for this type of restaurant you might expect it to be moderate given the ambiance - but seemed overpriced to me). Before we had come to the restaurant, my dad shared that they had tried this restaurant several times, and that the food was very inconsistent and pricey. (Something they also shared with the owner). I'd have to say that was our experience this night as well. I HOPE they get their act together - if they can improve food quality, it will be such a great place for the area.

    Yummy!! We found this gem for 5280 and will definitely return! Was a fun place to hang out with friends, look forward to doing so on the patio this summer. Highly recommend the hideaway ice cream sandwiches for dessert, and the sun snap drink! Was a great value for 5280.

    After my first trip to the Hideaway I left completely satisfied. The slow cooked pork was edible with a fork, no knife necessary or even accompanying the dish. The lobster and bacon mac and cheese was sinful. Not to mention a great and particularly affordable wine list. A great date night for us denverites to get out of town but not have to go too far.

    Wow. What a find. Nestled away in a strip mall we found a cozy restaurant and bar that has a wonderfully diverse menu. The waiter we had was so attentive, helpful, friendly that they could have served us a turd and we would come back. Will, this is for you. The food was great but you made it memorable.

    It is great to see a new restaurant in the Genesee/Evergreen area - there is such a lack of good places in the foothills! Hideaway has made a good start, but has some things to work on for sure. The interior is attractive and cozy. The wine and beer list is fairly extensive, but I was disappointed that there wasn't an IPA on the beer menu. The house salads were very good, and a little different with the addition of dried cherries. But the appetizer quesadilla was bland, with not much filling, and the honey dipping sauce was too sweet. Our entrees were barely lukewarm - our server kind of disappeared for a while and they probably sat in the kitchen too long. My sister and I split the pad thai and the gnocchi. The pad thai was excellent, with a delicious sauce. The gnocchi were kind of blah, and the grapes and brussels sprouts in the dish were almost raw. We also had dessert, since it was a birthday celebration. The kitchen prepared a beautiful dessert plate for my sister's birthday with chocolate covered strawberries and a candle. The desserts were good, not great. In general, I would also say the portion sizes are pretty small for the prices. Given all this, we will still be back to give them another try, since they have a lot of potential.

    NEVER AGAIN!! I have dined at The Hideaway weekly because they pride themselves on being kind and kid friendly. I had the single WORST dining experience in my LIFE at The Hideaway. The waitress was very pissed off from the time we sat down that I had my kids with me. She brought the check while we were still eating and made it clear we were not welcome to order dessert. My baby knocked my daughers sprite over (usually they bring plastic cups but gave the 4 yo a glass cup) It went down hill from there. I told the manager that the waitress was POed and he said nothing. I asked the tables around us if my kids were a disruption or bad and they all said no. I am furriuos and will tell anyone who will listen how awful the waitress and manager were. I plan to send emails to every group in Genesee- moms group, swim team, book club, bridge club, fire dept. THEY WERE SO MEAN. NEVER AGAIN!

    Stopped in for a late dinner after a long and stressful day. It was my first time here and was surprised at the coziness. Jenna took such good care of us and made us feel welcome. Since it was late, we opted for a lighter option - Shrimp Pad Thai. So glad we did! It was seasoned perfectly and the flavors were bright and fresh. Not spicy at all - which is different from traditional. But it wasn't missed. The restaurant itself is warm and inviting. The kind of place I'd hang out in if I was a local. Definitely worth the time.

    We typically sit at the bar and have yet to be disappointed since the reopening. I'm a HUGE fan of the asparagus appetizer and try to convince my husband to order it for us every time we are here. The other night we tried the farro "risotto" and it was awesome! The owner told us that they are bringing in live music Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday evenings this summer, which we are looking forward to checking out!

    My one experience - great food at great prices, great bartender (Scott, he's a Cardinals fan, I forgive him for that), some great mixed drinks, a very good hard liquor and wine selection, a really nice ambiance, very attractive and relaxed. A much better decision than going to the Chart House that is in front of this place. Skip it, go here! I had seared tuna, awesome for $14 though, it was just tuna, nothing else included. A decent size serving. She had salmon, it came with a salad that was terrific with heirloom tomatoes. very good, $18. Killer dirty martini, $11. Great bourbon fancy drink $7 (can't remember the name, its on their drink menu but, worth a taste if you like bourbon). From the outside, it looks funky - go in, it's a whole other world in there. Really beautiful with lighting, flowers, very low key place too. Great for a date. Music on the patio, fireplaces - I will be going here a lot. I think they do suffer some staffing problems, I heard talk of a bartender recently let go, and they were a little understaffed I would say with pretty young and seemingly inexperienced waitpersons on staff. But, still ok. Eat at the bar! Two big TV at end of the bar but they leave the sound off, sports on. Cool. Oh and the place a few doors down that sells candy - that should be your dessert, amazing homemade candies, just awesome.

    Amazingness! I would give this 5 stars for the food alone, but there were a few other things that put the cherry on top (and sprinkles, and hot fudge). First, let me just disclose that my husband and I walked in with hiking clothes on - and got some looks. No one said anything but I might recommend wearing at least jeans... I had an omelette and a cup of tea which was perfect. But really the women's bathroom is so nice! (Is that weird to say?) it had real candles burning and an awesome sink. Ok you just have to see it. I also liked all the mason jars around. My husband wasn't a fan of the homemade ketchup;)

    Upon waiting for a wedding to begin up the hill at The Pines my boyfriend and some of our mutual friends killed time together here for happy hour. It's a pretty decent place. The food was tasty. I enjoyed the sliders and the calamari. And the happy hour Chardonnay was pretty good too, though I'm not much of a Chardonnay drinker. Also, the bartender was very nice and gave us great service. I would recommend trying this place out if you have something going on in the area, but if you're coming from metro Denver I wouldn't waste my time. You can find something very similar anywhere around Denver.

    Went back to try after they reorganized and it's great! A different take on the classics and a bit swankier menu works well at this option in genesee. Really enjoyed the semi outdoor seating!

    A friend recommended Hideaway on my visit to Denver. It has a warm decor and friendly staff. The food was fresh and the recipes were very tasty. The menu has something for everyone. They also have a full bar and covered patio with TVs. I liked it so much, I ate there again during my subsequent visit to Denver.

    This place is NOT what it used to be. The food is completely different, and not in a good way. After pulling teeth to try and get the bartender to explain the menu in any kind of comprehensible way, we ordered 3 of the dishes that we were told were enough food to share. The tuna was gray, the portion was maybe 1/8 ounce. Some manager dude asked how it was and my wife told him it was awful. No recourse. "it's sushi grade tuna that's flown in every day". BS. I've had better frozen tuna from King Soopers. But yeah, I ate it. Why? Because my lamb kebob dinner was a joke. 2 pieces of ground lamb on burned through skewers with a couple small dipping sauces and 2 pieces of lettuce. That's all. The Caprese was tolerable, but the "heirloom tomatoes" had an off flavor, and the cheese was dried out. The 4 leaves of Basil were good, I guess. We left hungry. Pour at the bar was stingy as hell. It was like our bartender was afraid to put anything in our glass. A complete and utter fail. I thought I'd give this place a try after reopening because we sure loved to come here. Apparently they had a problem, and have no issues with the rumor that employees were stealing from them - so their answer? They fired EVERYONE, two days before Christmas no less, so all the people you knew there are gone. I get it that if you have an employee theft issue that you need to fire some people, but everyone? Really? And did they take advantage of the downtime to sound proof the bar a bit, or make the bar area that gets crowded a little bigger, or anything? No. They just went scorched earth, and the result....is scorched earth. An EPIC example of how to f*ck up a great thing. I have 19 check ins here and will not get to 20.

    What a find?!?!? Nestled in a park in the mountains in a strip mall. The brunch is great. The service was attentive. and the Bloody Mary was SOOOO good. We sat outside on the porch, it was comfy on a cool Saturday. They have heaters that they probably turn on at night along with a couple of TV's outside. The wife ordered the Hash Brown Waffles (hash browns thrown in a waffle maker, cooked to perfection) with Jalapeno syrup and meat, it was so rich and tasty, perfect hangover food. I ordered the Ahi tuna Nicoise Salad, it was light and refreshing. A friend ordered the Portobello Mushroom Benny, the hollandaise sauce was the best I've ever had, so rich and creamy, almost hard to believe. We really loved this place, no complaints!!

    This used to be our favorite local spot, but since "revamping" over the winter it's taken an awful turn. They changed up the menu to consist of smaller portions meant to order a bunch and share. Went with our neighbors and ended up spending double what we use to and leaving hungry. Pretty big bummer

    I gave it a second chance. I really did. But it seems improbable to experience good service and good food here. After my last review, I came attempting to be a blank slate, ready to forgive and forget for a sub par lunch experience. I was very excited to see quite a few more dishes and a few I was familiar with, come out fresh looking, properly portioned and appropriate grill marks. The salmon on my salad was perfectly medium rare, moist and tender and a decent sized portion. Hence the increase of stars from 2 to 3. But this time the service kept me from giving them another star. I was having a lovely lunch until...I realized that my salad was supposed to have blueberries. No big deal I thought. I'll ask the waitress. Waitress stops by to check on table. Me: I think there was supposed to be blueberries on my salad. Waitress: No, that was just in the blueberry dressing. Me: No, it is listed separately on the menu. Waitress: Do you want me to bring you a side of blueberres? Me: Yes, please. Waitress exits to get blueberries. I snag an unused menu off of a nearby table. Sure enough, blueberries are listed as a separate ingredient from the blueberry vinaigrette. Waitress (returns promptly with blueberries). Me: Just so you know they are listed as a separate ingredient. Waitress: It's not that I didn't believe you. Here are my thoughts on this. No, you did not call me a liar, but you did tell me in a condescending tone that the blueberries are only in the dressing. The inclusion of blueberries as a separate item in the list of ingredients implies that there should be blueberries on the salad. If blueberries are supposed to be on the salad the staff should know the menu better (Chef's included). If this is not the case, then the menu should be changed. After lunch a few of my coworkers asked me what transpired between me an the waitress and I explained the situation and my previous experience with the Hideaway. Then two of my coworkers said that there was a problem with their salads as well. One said the chicken was over cooked, tough and dry and the other said that they forgot the egg on her salad. These are people who are quiet and go with the flow. They aren't going to speak up and complain. Well, sorry, I'm not that kind of person. If you're going to charge $15 for a lunch salad, it should be right, the ingredients listed should be on the salad unless the customer specifically asked for them to not be. The menu should be correct and the staff knowledgeable. I'm sorry. I won't be back and not just because that waitress will recognize me.

    Miss the old Hideaway! Food is ok, but service has take a turn for the worse. We waited forever at the table to place a drunk order and appetizers. The apps came before the drinks. We finished, and there the dishes sat until the server came with entrees. Many employees glanced at our table but never picked up the dishes. Same thing happened after we finished our entrees (steak frites and burgers, they were good but not worth 30 minute wait). Our server walked by our table numerous times and NEVER stopped to ask us how our food was, did we want another drink, or could I clear your plates....I had to flag him down myself for every request. A disappointment. I miss the old menu as well. Cute place, though

    Coming here since they opened so I'm a bit late on reviewing. 90% of the time, we've gotten fantastic service. The other 10% still pretty good. I like the menu that changes fairly often and at times I've been impressed by the ingredient combinations in some unique plates. They've really expanded the outside seating area and I think that is a hit for the area. The half circle booths inside are perfect for a family of 4-6. They aren't the absolute best but they are the best around here and that's good enough for me.

    Since The Hideaway reopened a few months ago, I have dined there a few times and had excellent meals and service. The fried chicken sandwich is a great lunch, as well as several delicious happy hour options. The dinner menu has something for everyone and I love the grilled mahi. The ribs are great too...Not a single item I've been disappointed with. Very friendly and attentive staff as well. If you are looking for a great option along I-70, the hideaway is certainly worth checking out

    Food was marginal at best. Calamari was burnt, shrimp pad was tasteless. Pay attention when ordering any drinks- I was told I was being given a "sample" of a glass of wine because it was an extra pour. When I received by bill I was charged $8. Obviously not a sample.

    Came here for lunch today (Friday) and the food was awesome! I got the chicken katsu sandwich, the chicken was cooked perfectly and I believe it was breaded with panko. The pickled onion and cucumber was a nice touch and added great flavor. My friend ordered the ahi salad which looked great and we shared a order of fries. Service was a little slow, we weren't in a rush so it wasn't a big deal but a little annoying when no one was around to take our order. The location is tucked away but not hard to find. Overall I enjoyed my meal!

    I'm only going to give three stars because the service was so bad the last time we ate here. My husband had a fabulous seafood pasta dish and my pork dish was good, but not fabulous. I am hoping the wait staff either gets better training or is replaced. The location is terrific ( right off 70 on your way to the mountains) and we love the patio. The chef is terrific and I truly have never had a bad meal at this restaurant but our experience with the "valley girl" waitress means I'll be lunching with my girlfriends if I want to eat here, as I doubt my husband will ever go back.

    My family was visiting from the East Coast and we stopped for lunch here. I'm so glad that we did. The staff was so nice and accommodating. The decor was beautiful and had a relaxed feel to it. I ordered the Chicken Pesto sandwich and it was really great. Everything came out really fast and was so fresh and delicious. Our waiter was very attentive and fun and he took great care of us. I'm so glad we happened upon this restaurant while we were visitng CO!

    This place is a great! The food and service are very good! We have been here twice and really like the dinner menu and the brunch menu. For brunch, I would not suggest the bloody mary over the mimosa because it was a bit too chunky but that might just be my preference.

    After being closed for a few months - back open . Overall : the prior menu was better. Acoustics still terrible ! Menu is odd, at best . Small expensive plates of odd items would be my assessment. Not worth the stop !

    The staff and manager were highly accommodating. When we first walked in, we were greeted promptly and we requested specific seating in which they obliged. They also let us use their podium to set our phone on to charge. The service was quick and they took our order. My boyfriend ordered the Salmon Eggs Benedict and I ordered the Vegetarian Eggs Benedict, in which I requested to switch out their vegetables for tomato and avocado. Both plates were delicious; however, the salmon was a bit over salted. Other than that, everything was great! Also, they didn't charge us extra for our custom order. The manager was active and involved. Will return when in the area.

    Love the casual, upscale ambiance. Staff is friendly, but food....just not good! Recently had the Thai Beef Salad. Beef was basically raw, and so chewy it was not edible. Actually made me want to become a vegetarian! In addition, the salad was swimming in dressing. Just gross. Also, bisque (butternut and crab) was thick and pasty and way too sweet. Really missed the mark there. Waitress told us that they are revamping the menu. I have eaten here on 4 occasions in the past year, and kept hoping for a really good meal! Good luck.

    This was our go to place when we lived in the Foothills. Dinners were unique and very good. enviroment was inviting. Since we have moved down the hill we have been there for their brunch menu on the weekends afer biking. Not sure what has happened but service very slow. Took 3 times to get an Americano that still was not right. Food undercooked ( eggs), bacon so salty I could not eat it. I found the prices high. I would hate to see this place go away but we are moving on to a new spot.

    We came for the friends and family re-opening. The staff was learning and we were told so, and we thought the service was great! You could tell those that work there really cared about what they were doing. The new menu is smaller plates, based on sharing. There are daily specials for 2-4 people throughout the week. The prices look a bit on the expensive side. We thought everything we ate was really, really awesomely delicious. Like we wanted everything on the menu, and even if it sounded strange we tried a few out there thing (for us) and loved them. The drinks are all pretty strong too - no watery sugar mixed drinks so that's a big plus. The only downside I would think of is for the price, the plates were just a bit small although they were delicious. We'll be back for sure.

    We enjoyed our visit to the reopened Hideaway and had delicious food and an attentive, helpful wait staff. However, the menu is very confusing, as it isn't clear as to what is an appetizer, a small plate for sharing, or a full-sized entree, so it is hard to know what you are ordering. They are organized by Sea, Land, and Farm, instead of appetizer, entree, etc. The crab dip (appetizer) is in the same column as the Shrimp pad thai (could be an entree), because they are both from the "sea." Also, please know that if you have a group of more than four people, you can not hear each other across the table. It is a very noisy place!

    A dreadful disappointment in what was once our go-to place. We will not be going back. The new menu, which the bartender had great difficulty explaining, is exceedingly expensive and lacks many of their previous successful signature dishes. Service at the bar was awkward, stingy and slow. She didn't seem comfortable or suited to the role, although her interest was quite obviously piqued when a group of three single men came in. Almost amusing to watch. Almost, except I would've preferrred another drink to amuse me. We were told that the dishes were intended to be shared. You would have to order a ton of them, because truly they aren't enough of a single course for one person, let alone sharable. Some of the flavors were quite off. A small serving of taro chips served as a side were greasy, and had a puddle of oil at the bottom of the dish - really? there were only about 6 chips in the serving. I had the tuna and it was inedible - grey in color and not firm (=not fresh). Enter a diminutive man in a suit, whom I assume by his demeanor was some kind of manager. My first encounter of him was hearing him - loud, vulgar dialogue with other bar patrons. He made his way over to us and asked how we "loved" everything - we let him know that we did not. He seemed surprised or feigned surprise at my assessment of the tuna, stating that "it's flown in daily" to which I say, rubbish. We left hungry, asking each other where we'd like to go for dinner now...I mean, you know, right THEN. The owners might have thrown a fit and decided to hang a sign on the door just before last Christmas telling everyone, and I mean everyone, that they were out of job - when what they really achieved was the demise of a great business and loyal clientele - who by way, weren't afraid to drop some serious money on food and drink that were excellent - past tense. Way past.

    11/2 years later and The Hideaway delivers every single time. Excellent wine choices with an always changing menu that keeps you coming back for more. Staff is the best - excellent service always with a smile...you're treated like family. Love the Pad Thai and lobster Mac! Husband had the fish and chips this last time and the homemade tarter sauce was great. Looking forward to the warm summer nights so we can eat on the patio.

    I have only been for lunch and happy hour. The atmosphere is a little casual for the price. I also don't like seeing the canned food displayed along the main dining room wall. It just screams low quality. The shelves would be better suited as alcohol storage only, which looks pretty cool. They should take away the cans and add in wine racks. The food is good, albeit a bit pricey. They don't have a lot of gluten-free alternatives and only one vegetarian salad. The sandwiches are pretty good and range from $9-$19. I've had the club & cuban, which were good.

    Went for a hike not far from here and found the restaurant on a Google Map search. What a find. It was hard deciding what to have as everything on the menu looked tasty. Food was excellent. My wife had the lobster omelette. Not sure what they put on the potatoes served with it but they were addicting. I opted for the Eggs Benny Burger medium rare and it actually arrived at my table that way. Not always the case with a burger. The live Christmas tree in the corner was a nice touch. If you are headed out of Denver (or back) on I70, definitely worth the stop.

    Mixed feelings about this place. Decent selection of wines by the glass. Service was excellent. Four of us shared a special sushi roll as an appetizer that was just OK. For entree I had the Thai beef salad that was really not very good at all. We also shared the Brussels sprouts - nicely charred and a tasty dipping sauce but really undercooked. Very hard to actually chew and eat. If cooked a bit more dish would have been fine. Other three diners liked their entrees to varying degrees, so maybe I just had the bad luck to order the misses rather than the hits...

    Last Friday night I was driving down I-70, heading from Denver into the mountains, when I felt a tinge of hunger. My date and I wanted food, but we had no idea where to get it. I saw a sign for a gas station and pulled off the freeway, even as he complained that the last thing he wanted to eat was packaged food. Well, as we pulled into the gas station area, we saw to our right a brightly lit "OPEN" sign hanging in the window of The Hideaway. Intrigued, I parked in front of the restaurant, and peeped in the window. I saw wineglasses sitting on tables. I was sold. We entered and proceeded to have a fantastically prepared meal, cooked fresh and with the best ingredients. It was of a quality you would expect to find at a highly regarded restaurant in an urban area, not in a random strip plaza off the Interstate 70. I was surprised and impressed at the service and the flavor. I can't say I'll be back soon, because when else will I be in this area? However, I'd recommend that any travelers on this road and in this area turn to the Hideaway for their mid-drive needs. It was also lovely that they were open at 10 pm on a Friday night, which is when we cruised in. 5 stars & thanks for the great meal and service, Hideaway! :)

    this place is freaking NOISY! The management needs to make a serious investment in noise dampening improvements. I was there recently on a Tuesday night and the restaurant was about 75% full; I was seated with 1 other person and we had to practically shout across our tiny table to hear each other. (there was no live music - the noise was just from the conversations of other patrons). Also, the fish was served to us basically raw. We had to send it back to the kitchen. I like rare tuna, but most other fish needs to be cooked at least medium. And the rice was also undercooked. Does anyone like crunchy rice? I doubt it. The macaroni and cheese side dish was tasty though.

    This review is for the HAPPY HOUR ONLY. All apps on their happy hour menu are $5 What we ordered: Buffalo calamari Lobster rangoons Reuben bites Mac and cheese Drinks: Genesee cream ale ($2) - I wasn't a huge fan of it, but I like "bigger" beers like ipa's and stouts so this just didn't do it for me. But if you're in the mood for a light beer, you can't beat the price of $2 during happy hour Review (in order from my favorite to least favorite): Mac and cheese: The mac and cheese was really good. It was creamier than most mac and cheeses. It had a white sauce and shell pasta. They added bread crumbs to the top which added a nice crunch. The consistency was smooth and silky. Lobster rangoons: These were also pretty good but I don't know if I would order it again because it did not have enough filling. I would say it was about 1/4 filling and 3/4 air. You couldn't really taste the filling when you took a bite because there was so little. But, when I scooped out some of the filling and ate it without any wonton, it was good. Reuben bites: It was a bit too dry for me. I think adding a little bit of thousand island dressing on the top would have made it a lot better, for both taste and moisture. It's like a mini pie instead of sandwich, with a flaky crust. However, the meat wasn't juicy enough to offset the dryness of the crust, which is why I think adding thousand island would be a good addition. The corned beef was also over seasoned, either too much clove or juniper berry. Buffalo calamari: My boyfriend and I disagree about which is better, he thinks the calamari is better than the reuben bites, but this is my review so I put it in the order I thought they belonged in. Buffalo calamari is an interesting concept and I think I would have really liked it if it was done right. The problem with this one is there was way too much sauce. When I took a bite of it, it must have looked like I just ate a lemon. I was definitely not expecting such a strong flavor. There was too much going on. Not going to lie, my favorite part about this dish was the celery and bleu cheese dressing. Service: Our waiter was really nice, and our water cups were always full (yes, I pay attention to that). Atmosphere: It was more "trendy" than I thought it was going to be. I came in jeans and a t-shirt and I definitely felt underdressed. But, overall it was a nice restaurant and I liked the decor. If you're the type of person that cares about the restrooms (I seriously know people that judge a restaurant based on their restrooms so don't think I'm crazy)... they had really nice restrooms. They don't skimp on the quality of their toilet paper, no 1-ply TP here, that's for sure. And they have towels to dry your hands instead of paper towels. We also got dessert, if I were to write a review about just the dessert, I would give them 5 stars. But, I wanted this review to be about the happy hour. We tried the cupcake and salted caramel ice cream sandwiches and those were really delicious. The cookie was a crunchy chocolate chip cookie and amazing. Ordered them for the salted caramel ice cream but the cupcake ice cream is where it's at. It was like eating cake batter, in other words, freaking amazing! The salted caramel wasn't salty enough for me but the ice cream was still good.

    I love love love this place! It's a perfect blend of good food, great drinks, and the vibe is cool. It's intimate and fun. You can take your kids here but then also come here for date night or girls night. I've always had really good service here too. The Hideaway does what no restaurant in Evergreen does. In Evergreen they are either too formal or too casual. The Hideaway is the perfect blend of cool and casual.

    A hidden gem! Yelp is spot on with this one! Having no idea what to expect, this place kinda knocked my socks off. Once word gets out, it will be putting smiles on numerous faces of that I am sure. They are to be featured in 5280 and if word of mouth does what it is known for, this place will get the crowd it deserves. We had a 3PM meal in their bar area and it was delightful! I rarely consume everything on my plate, but I came super close here! The appetizer was great (happy hour no less, they have a variety of $5 apps) and my steak salad was perfection! The drinks - wow! I enjoyed the Genessee cream ale and sampled some tasty red wines (again, happy hour!!). But they have an entire wall of tasty booze, bottles I have never seen before! Plus there is a nice sampling of beers on tap and bottled. There is even the organic cider that I so love housed in a glowing green chiller with other tasty treats. We spoke with staff about beer, wines, and liquor! I was introduced to Fernet liquor and was thrilled with the mint version made by the local Leopold bros.! The design is great. This place almost made me feel like I was in some swanky Aspen or Vail supper club. They have that European feel of having supplies as wall art (including bottles and bottles of wine) and have one of those great ladders on rails to access it all. There are tables, booths, the bar area, and their own private amphitheater in the back! It feels small and cozy as well as open with the wall of windows. The service was top notch. The greeter, Lisa and the owner were all amazing. We had a fun little conversation with each of them. Turns out the owner is European, but living in Capitol Hill! He wants to have live music and screen films in the amphitheater once the weather is nice, you bet I want to return to this out of the way treasure! This kind of place is so lovely, that I encourage everyone to make the drive and go for an adventure!

    After living in Evergreen for six years, I discovered this little gem. My teenage son likes it, too, so it's a great place to stop for dinner on the way up the hill. The food is unique with enough of the basics to satisfy even a 15 year old boy, The choice of wines isn't great but I usually find something decent and they always let me taste them before I commit to a glass. We often share a few appetizers - the Ruben bites are great and not nearly as messy as a sandwich. I love the brussels sprouts roasted with grapes. My son always goes for the Mac and Cheese - he's a connoisseur and gives it a thumbs up. The Philly Cheesesteak Rolls are ok - a little too creamy for my taste - but fun. The ice cream sandwiches (ice cream between two chocolate chip cookies) are always the best part of the meal. They aren't just plain old vanilla or chocolate ice cream - we've had mint chocolate chip and rocky road - and loved them all. This is a must stop place.

    Good ambiance. Good waitstaff. Paella was terrible. I ate around the rice to get all the meat and seafood. $50 meal not worth it. Maybe i should have gotten a different dish but why have it on the menu if it won't be good.

    I think the only thing I really like about this place is the location. When we first went here a few years ago it was great but as of recently they've gone down hill. The menu hasn't changed much and I'm sick of eating the same few options. We've actually stopped going. Hopefully things get better here but I won't come back for awhile.

    Oh baby!!! This place is a must stop if you're in the Genesee/Golden area. Driving up to this restaurant I will say I had a bit of apprehension due to the locale inside a strip mall, but I figured Yelp does me no wrong so we forged ahead. I'm certainly glad we did! This bar/restaurant could not have been a better treat for a little day trip to Golden. We saddled up to the bar and were greeted by a delightful young lady that gave us the ins and outs of the restaurant. Of course, it just so happened to be happy hour so we figured having a couple cocktails never hurt anyone especially on the cheap! I had a couple delicious glasses of red wine and was able to try some of the unique booze and other wines that were adorned on the walls of the bar area. As for food, we had an appetizer of Buffalo Calamari to start, delicious and devoured in seconds! Next up was a giant burger for me and a steak salad for my lady, again magnificent! Each of the meals appeared to be delicately put together and served to perfection. For a lunch, I could not have picked a better spot and was delighted from the time we walked in. The whole staff was also incredibly friendly from the server to the bartender to the GM who greeted us and had a little chat about the restaurant and his upcoming projects for the place. They have a small amphitheater in the back in which they plan on having live music and movie nights when the weather gets warmer. I will be back and I suggest anyone else to also go. This place is going to be a hotspot for sure if people give it a chance.

    We were excited to try this place after some good friends recommended it, and we were not disappointed! We loved the cozy/industrial atmosphere with the right balance of overhead and ambient lighting. The service was great. The wine list was diverse and interesting and the food was absolutely amazing! It was still happy hour so we ordered the buffalo chicken wontons ($5) as an appy. These were yummy, if a bit skimpy on the filling. (One thing I'd suggest is that if they're being served to more than one person, to include a spoon for the sauces to prevent the awkward double-dip.) The hubby chose the pork carnitas bowl for his entree and he loved it. I had the evening's special: grilled salmon (and I mean perfectly grilled to medium-rare) with a sort of sweet sticky sauce (I think it was pomegranate) served with a 2-potato strata and grilled asparagus - YUM! Great flavor profiles and textures that worked very nicely in harmony. For dessert we split the "ice cream sandwiches": salt caramel ice cream squished between homemade chocolate chip cookies.... holy crap! If you love the combination of salty and sweet, this dessert is for you! I'd have to say that the only glitch in the entire experience was that they were out of the first draft beer my husband ordered off the HH menu, so he chose something else. When he tried to order another round, he was told that they were now out of THAT beer and the waiter brought over a can of some other beer as a substitution. It wasn't the hubby's favorite but he was a good sport and drank the beer. We were surprised to see that it wasn't comped, considering he didn't order it and they were out of the 2 beers he really wanted. It wasn't worth quibbling over a $3 HH beer, but I'm just saying it would have been classier if it had been comped and would have bumped this up to a 5-star rating. OH, I almost forgot to mention how REASONABLE the prices are here. In total, we ordered 1 glass of wine, 2 beers, 1 appetizer, 2 entrees and a dessert and the total (including tax) came to a measly $56! This restaurant fills a niche that is much-needed in the Golden/Evergreen area and we look forward to more dinners here.

    Great happy hour drinks and apps. Mac and Cheese side is to die for. Although it is in a plaza, dont be fooled. Looks outside like it would be bar food and mediocre ambiance, neither is true. They just redid the menu and sorry to say little vegetarian options anymore. Other complaint, loud inside. However, still one of the better stops in Golden and worth a drive up the hill for sure.

    Wow. You can't really go wrong here. All is good when you come to the Hideaway. I came to the Hideaway before heading down to the city on a Saturday afternoon. I was pleasantly surprised that they have happy hour on weekend. So cool. then the waiter simply did his job in taking care of all of our dining needs. The food was cooked and seasoned to taste. I was amazed at how good the food was. This is a great place to get a bite to eat have some cocktails and just enjoy yourself in a nice ambiance in a nice restaurant. p.s. I wasn't a fan of the ribs. I'm still going back though.

    This was the perfect place for our rehearsal diner! The food was amazing the staff is so accommodating! I can not thank Dante, Kenny and their entire staff enough for an amazing night! They even went as far as to have one of the nights specials be a salmon dish I had requested!! After dinner out party was able to make a smooth transition outside to the back patio area where heat lamps were set up to accommodate I'd texans :) !! The food is great, atmosphere is perfect and staff is amazing! I highly recommend this place of you don't want to be disappointed!

    This place is awesome. My husband and I went here for our first date without our baby last weekend and were glad we did. Everyone is very friendly and cheerful, our server was great. The food was amazing, you can tell everything is made with love. Also the water glasses are cut off wine bottles which was very cool. They had a unique way of decorating which we appreciated. Highly recommend!

    After a walk through Genesee, our group wanted some brunch. There aren't many options in the area, so we took a chance with a "random place in a strip mall" and ended up at Hideaway. Boy, were we surprised! Despite the lack of curb appeal, the interior was truly a hideaway and the food was excellent and eclectic. I had a vegetarian wellington - essentially a puff pastry with chanterelle mushrooms inside. Very tasty. Had a nice (but a bit salty) hollendaise sauce on top. Also came with a few balls of watermelon and cantaloupe plus some potato crisps. Friends also had eggs benedict with a piece of elk tenderloin (which they liked) and another friend enjoyed the huevos rancheros with green chili (note that this dish contains pork which is not stated on the menu). Fresh squeezed orange juice was great and coffee was refilled frequently. Prices were not bad at all - maybe between $8-14 a dish. Food quality was top notch as was the service. Although I didn't see them with my own eyes, I heard the bathrooms were quite classy. The lesson - don't judge a book by it's cover!
