I really should have heeded most of the reviews for this place. They were right. My husband and I were walking down Main Street and we were hungry. We didn't want anything American to eat. Nothing was sounding good. We really wanted Chinese, but in Frisco you're pretty limited for Asian cuisine. We were walking by this restaurant and I checked the reviews. Not terrible, but not great either. It smelled really good outside so we took a chance. We saw chicken vindaloo on the menu, so right away that's what we ordered, with an order of garlic naan. That's what we always order when we go to Indian restaurants. We were hoping they would make it spicy enough for us because some places don't make it very spicy. What we weren't expecting was that they would make it so spicy that we couldn't enjoy the meal. The vindaloo was so hot that I was gulping down water after every bite. And I shouldn't say it was spicy, because that would mean I could taste actual spices, which I love. It was just hot, like it was flavored with a hot pepper. It tasted one dimensional. Usually when I order chicken vindaloo from most restaurants (and I've ordered it lots of times), I can taste a lot of different spices and it tastes multi-dimensional. I wouldn't say the vindaloo was horrible, but it wasn't as flavorful as I was expecting it to be and it was too hot. The naan was very good, though. The portions were good, but the prices were pretty high. I don't think I would come back here again. The food is very "meh" as another reviewer said. And the service was very poor. I had to hunt down the waitress to refill my water. I was dying with that red-hot vindaloo. You're better off going somewhere else.

It is a 2.5 for food and service. After checking recent reviews we decided to give it a try. The reviews and ratings are right on. The food is "meh" and the service is shaky. While I'm no Indian/Asian expert, we do eat a lot of Indian and Asian cuisine. The food was simply not impressive but it isn't bad either. In Frisco there are few alternatives I hope it was our waitress' first day because she was clueless. I would eat there again but mainly for variety and the fact we try to eat a healthier diet..

Completely average food with mediocre service. Vegan friendly though, which was nice. A good place to go if you want to change it up.

The food and service was decent, but we were the only ones in the restaurant. Our appetizer, samosas, came within 5 minutes and our entrees within 20 minutes. We purchased the $15 for $30 deal on Yelp and they had a hard time processing it. We also checked in via yelp for an additional 15% off, but they refused to honor this along with the $15 for $30. So if you're coming here with a family and plan to spend around $100, you're better off just checking in via yelp and getting 15% off. We ordered the boti saagwala and saag paneer and both were served in small bowls. They also gave us a very small bowl of rice. Not enough for the two of us. The garlic naan was great though. Good size, good flavor, good price. Overall, a decent place, but without any deals or discounts, it is on the higher end.

I have been here twice and had a great experience both times. They've got a lunch buffet (~$8) and regular dinner menu (entrees ~$10-15). The food is delicious! It seems to be focused more toward Indian-style Himalayan. There are plenty of vegetable dishes and also enough choices of meat dishes (including fish and lamb). The momos are excellent, as is the garlic naan. The employees are friendly and professional. We were there on a weeknight and it was incredibly busy. We were seated right away (we chose to be outside on the front patio to enjoy Frisco's downtown atmosphere), but wait time was longer than expected, both in getting our order in and in receiving our food. It was worth it! Portions are large, so there's plenty for the next day's lunch.

I buddy of mine told me this place was amazing. If you like lamb roasted in herbs and spices, fresh out of the oven garlic naan bread and some wonderful chai to wash it all down this is the place for you. Service was pretty good despite a very busy dinner service. The menu is loaded with curry , lamb, chicken and some vegetarian dishes as well. This is a wonderful place to chow down after a long day of skiing in the cold.

If i could give zero stars i would. I went for my birthday lunch a few days ago, thinking it would be good food. the service was horrible. the food was mediocre, not worth the price. when we complained about an item, we could hear the owner or manager talking about our table calling us "annoying". he was talking so loud, it was so disrespectful. I have never in my life felt so horrible at a restaurant before, and that too on my birthday. we got there at 2 and the buffet ended at 2:30, we decided to order off the menu and ended up spending more than double the amount we would have had we just gotten the buffet - however, once it was 2:30, they turned OFF the lights, and we had barely gotten our food. when we told our server to put the lights back on, she did not. the lamb was disgusting, it was so hard and you could barely chew it. i would never recommend this place to anyone unless they think getting disrespected when you are paying over $80 for a meal is acceptable.

Good food but it took 50 minutes for a takeaway order...

We have done the lunch buffet and enjoyed it. They had dumplings and meatballs which the kids love and spicier lamb and other dishes we enjoy. The chai was delicious. Recently ate there for dinner and it was terrible - very long wait, no atmosphere and the food was not good. I won't be back.

  • Jeff M.

Used to be real good. Pretty much sux now. Food was cold; the server microwaved it for me (yum). Sad to see when a great restaurant cuts corners on the things that made them great.

The service was excellent. Our food arrived quickly. It was tasty and not to spicy. They accepted our Yelp voucher ($15 for $30) without a problem. Portions were generously sized.

  • Alison R.

The food tasted old. Dumplings were especially foul, as were the samosas - spit out into a napkin and gargle with water bad. The vegetable sampler plate had old, fried chunks that do not pass for food when they are that hard or sour! The waitress was sweet and attentive, trying her best. She asked us if we wanted water without ice, we said yes, she brought water with ice anyway. We were the only table other than one group of 4. Shortly after they left, the radio in the kitchen got louder with dance music and the cook wheeled giant trash cans through the eating area and out the front door. We left at 9:20p, as fast as we could. For excellent Himalyan/Tibetan food, check out Sherpa House in Golden.

Please spend your money elsewhere. The food was mediocre. They have no idea what Chicken Biriyani is. The service was horrible. The vegetables were uncooked in parts. Was overall a terrible experience. The worst part was its a small joint, with a single cook, they took over 2 hours to get our main course. Would not recommend for anyone, especially if you're going here after skiing. You are not going to get your food on time. To top it off, the owner ripped us off, after using the Yelp deal of $15 for $30, he gave us only $20 off.

  • CJ V.

Arrived at 5:20pm, 6:30 now and not even naan is out yet. Only 1 dish has come out of the kitchen in the past hour for the people sitting in the restaurant, including people that arrived before us. I can see the kitchen from where I'm sitting and he is only focusing on to go orders this entire time. Update... Everyone else is eating now but us, to be specific, 4 tables that came and ordered after us got their food, apparently they lost our order.. The owner is the only cook and cashier, the waiter did not know what the food on the menu is and is quite difficult to understand. At this point, it doesn't matter what the food taste like, our good mood for a nice cozy dinner is completely ruined.

  • Kiran D.

The food was very tasty, but the woman how served me seemed unhappy. The location was also trashy, and while I was eating there was an inappropriate bollywood video playing, but the food was authentic and delicious and made up for everything.

  • Mithun S.

We took the lunch buffet here. All the items were cold. This is really disappointing considering the fact that the outside temperature was -20 degrees celcius and we came in for some nice hot food. The place is too cramped out and the service wasn't that great.

    (2)
  • Cherry K.

considering that it is the only indian place in that area, it is okay, but they can do much better and the food need lot of improvement. We had lunch buffet there. the food was cold, the pakoda (appetizers) were uncooked in parts with lump of floor stuck to it and the main course was deprived of any flavor in it. the place looks very gloomy, which was another reason i wanted to stuff food in my mouth and run from there rather then sit there and relax. thanks to yelp for $15 for $30 deal, else this would have been a disaster.

I want to give this place four stars, but had to settle on 3.5 instead. I've eaten here a few times over the years, and it's pretty consistently good, especially for a cuisine that you don't find a lot in small mountain towns. The lunch buffet is pretty standard, so go at dinner instead and order off the large and varied menu. I enjoy the lamb dishes most, but the traditional Nepalese rice plates are also quite good. They also have more shrimp dishes than you'd expect, along with plenty of vegetarian fare. The samosa appetizer was excellent last time I visited. The major problem here is that it's a small place, and often there are only one or two people working, so things get backed up pretty quickly. It's not a place to go if you're in a hurry, but once you walk in and get a whiff of the cuisine cooking, you'll want to stay a while anyway. If they were a little more efficient with the dine-in crowd, they'd get the bump up to four stars. They do a great takeout business, so that might be a better way to go if you are pressed for time, but do yourself a favor and just focus on how tasty your food is.

Solid food. The service was a bit slow but well worth the wait. Left with an 8 week old food baby. A little pricey but not over priced. I had the chicken vindaloo nice amount of heat potatoes were a little under but still good. Chicken was a combination of dark and white meat.

This was our second visit for dinner using a Yelp Deal. The restaurant was located on E. Main Street in Frisco, CO. Last summer we ate on the patio and it was really nice. Tonight we sat inside (18 degrees outside) and every time the front door opened, cold air would rush in and we sat towards the back of the restaurant near the buffet table. We were served Papadum with 2 dipping sauces. There were 4 pieces of flavorful papadum for the 2 of us. The dipping sauces were nice and thick. They didn't run off the papadum. The glasses of water did not have ice, but was cold. The Mango Lassi was one of the best I've had. It was so thick that my straw stood up. It wasn't diluted with a cup of ice like a lot of places. The Chai Tea was watery and unsweetened. We shared the Chicken Tikka Masala and Garlic Naan. The chicken entree came in a cute little copper pot. There were generous bite-sized cubes of lean white meat chicken. The garlic naan was crisp, yet chewy. There was not enough garlic for my taste. The basmati rice also came in a little copper pot. The rice was garnished with a few peas on top. The bathrooms were located outside of the restaurant and needed a key. Service was better as soon as 3 workers walked in at 7:15pm. The Lunch Buffet for $7.95 Monday-Saturday looked like a good deal. We keep on saying we want to try the buffet, so we will be back.

Quiet, nice friendly vibe, delicious food. Fresh pappadom was served immediately with the usual sauces. The madras chicken was amazing, as was the naan. We also like to boti kebab (lamb).

I totaly disagree with ashwin because the chicken biryani is so delicious that I never had before in america ... The garlic naan was so well cooked even the atmosphere and service was amazing....

OOO! STOP! Do not pass go and don't ever walk in to this restaurant! Samosa appetizers at Costco are so much better. Food came out cold, when it came out. By the time the rice arrived our main dish was cold. Members of our party of six were left sitting without food while the rest of us waited for plates and silverware. I thought it was especially pathetic when our server handed me cloth napkins to hand out to the table?! Chicken curry and tiki Marsala dishes had no flavor. When we finally got our check, and asked our server what she thought we should pay all she did was stand there cracking her knuckles and smiling. I would give this zero stars if possible OOOOOO

Buffet is ok, takes a while to refresh food even during peak time. They do not honor the Yelp 15% off check in offer for the buffet, they should add that restriction to their Yelp check-in offer!

Awesome! A quiet Wednesday night on a rainy day - the restaurant is small and cozy with the World Cup soccer match quietly playing in the TV. It feels like you've stepped into your Himalayan grannies home for dinner. Mattar paneer, somosas and hot chai - filled me up and warmed my soul. The family was friendly and attentive and joked with me about the "trek" to the bathroom which is in the mall next door. A lovely evening!

I'm in Colorado skiing and I've lived out of my car for 90 days (Honda Fit Hatchback). As you know, it's difficult to get a balanced diet on a budget, especially if you live out of a car with limited cooking space. Cheap restaurants nowadays focus entirely on filling you up with protein and cheap carbs, but a body needs veggies, and lots of them! So how do you eat a polyculture of numerous cooked veggies on the cheap when you live out of a hatchback down in the Walmart parking lot in the Breckenridge area? Come here for the lunch buffet on those days you're not skiing! They have sweet peas, zucchini, carrots, cauliflower, lentils, salad, spinach, cilantro, potatoes, rice, bread, beef meatballs, and chicken. All for less than $10. Their sauces are rich and thick, but not too spicy so as to cater to the general audience. The wait staff is friendly and efficient. The decor is calming. Awesome. Just awesome. I hope they get more business. Highly recommended!

One phrase: nom nom nom nom.... A friend mentioned this place to us so after a morning of skiing we decided to give it a whirl. What a pleasant surpise. Lunch buffet for $7.95 each and fresh made flatbread. Not too many options but all of them were super tasty. This place hit my I want Asian ish food and I'm tried of fried carving... Warming spices and filling yet relatively healthy. So happy we ate here. We will be back here again and again!!!!!

What a disappointment. Menu looked good, food was terrible. Service was incredibly slow and it must have been an hour before we finally got some food. Who knows what the chef was doing all that time, cos he sure wasn't cooking! The vegetables were practically raw, the food was bland, the naans were like rubber. Just terrible. I was expecting better. Never again.

I had the lunch Buffy, $8.95+tax, here on 3/17/14. I got there early, before noon, the food was just set up, it looked good and fresh. Like I said the food looked good BUT I was really disappointed with the taste and flavor. The food was truly bland. The Tandori Chicken looked perfect, awesome color but ZERO flavor. Same is true for the Masala. The only thing that was just right was the Naan bread. Over the years I have been here a number of times. This was my first time back in about a year. Not sure if there has been a change of owners. Over all you do get a lot of food and can really stuff yourself but NO flavor very bland. I can grill chicken with BBQ sauce that will be taster

Always a good meal with lots of flavor, lunch buffet and off the menu dinner. We haven't had anything yet that wasn't good. The whole family gobbles it up! Lunch buffet is a great deal and perfect for kids (and adults) who need something fast.

We were wandering in the winter wonderland of pre-Yuletide downtown Frisco when we happened upon this gem. The dining room was empty, which was concerning--and I have NO idea why. The food was delicious, reasonably priced and plentiful. The naan had a unique, wood-fired flavor and the chicken-rice dish was savory and not too spicy. Wonderful!

When I ordered from the menu, I was told that two of the items were not available. I was not told this ahead of time. The food was slow to arrive. There was a steady stream of people of arriving to pickup take out orders. That seems to be the main focus here. The small dining room doesn't seem to get the same attention. My lamb vindaloo curry was fairly good. I wasn't asked the desired spice level which was a bit unusual. It came out medium hot which was ok, I also ordered some naan bread. Since I usually love naan bread, I ordered enough to take some home with me. However, it was dry and bland tasting. I didn't bother taking the remainder home with me. The reason for my one star review is because I had purchased a voucher from yelp. This entitled me to $30 after spending $15. When I paid the bill, the server insisted that I had not spent enough. Since I was dining alone the bill came to $26. I wasn't even utilizing the full $30 that the voucher entitled me to. The server thought I shouldn't use the voucher unless I was spending at least $50. I showed the fine print on the voucher to the server. No where it did it state any minimum spending requirement. Also it stated that the restaurant could not add additional terms. Eventually, the voucher was accepted. However, it was an embarrassing situation. This was the first time I have purchased a yelp voucher. In future, I probably would hesitate to use a voucher at a small business like this. They don't make a profit when customers like me use it. However, if a business decides to offer such a voucher on yelp then they should abide by the terms. It is not right to embarrass a customer for using it.

Get the chef some spices! Stopped by for the buffet and everything except one dish was incredibly bland. The naan was gooey, not baked enough. The saag, usually hard to do badly, was flavorless, and I didn't detect any cheese in it. The chicken masala was the only thing that tasted like Indian food. Well, it was fast, and inexpensive.

Dropped in a couple times for dinner. Ordered a number of dishes from the menu. Favorite was the tandoori mixed grill. The tomato onion gravy was delicious and the meats were all juicy. Also had the vegetable sampler, kabob sampler, shrimp madras, and lamb vindaloo, as well as garlic and keema naan. I thought the madras flavor was a little more tomatoey like a rogan josh, but the shrimp were cooked right and it tasted good. The lamb in the vindaloo and mixed grill could have been more tender, but it was well seasoned and the vindaloo was nice and spicy. Service was fast and friendly. I will go back when in the area.

Had a delicious dinner. The Samosa were yummy. Baigan bharta was delicious with a sweet flavor. Papasom were the best I have tasted. The owner was amazing. I will definitly be back to try other dishes.

Well I'm actually sitting in this restaurant right now waiting for the lunch buffet to open. The chai tea and mango lassie is delicious, but the place has been open for almost 15 min and no food. Im very hungry and ready to eat. Good news! While writing this the owner just came over to tell me the buffet is ready. Ok so now I've eaten. The food was incredible. Loved every dish I tried. I'm a vegetarian so I have no opinion on the meat dishes but all that I tasted was great. The wait wasn't too much for the quality. I would come back.

The lunch buffet was delicious and always full. I saw the owner personally go check all the trays at least 3 times while we were there even though there were only 2 tables seated. He was also very attentive to filling up our drinks without being overwhelming. Super nice and polite. They also fresh bake your naan and bring it to your table during the lunch buffet! It is toasty and wonderful!

The lunch buffet is best deal in summit county. Dinner is extraordinary, but can add up if you want to sample all the delicious yumminess! I would recommend any of the naan breads, saag, and masala.

We came here twice within 5 days...that's how good the food is! The lunch buffet is less than $8 and the food is delicious! The selection isn't huge, but the offerings change every day so there's lots of variety. The owner and chef are super friendly. They make fresh naan for you, are quick to take away used plates as you go back for seconds, and refill beverages often. The cuisine is mostly Indian food, but there is some Himalayan influence. It makes for a hearty meal on a cold day in Frisco! We will be frequent patrons whenever we are up in Summit County!

I tried this place on my Ski trip. Usually an ardent Yelp review follower, this time around, my craving for spicy food got the better of me. Getting a table had the shortest wait time (5 min). What followed was a 2 hour dinner 1.5hrs of which was spent waiting for food. Food: I never expect a hyderabadi or Lucknowi biryani when I order Biryani in such places but I have to tell you my Biryani experience met an all time low with this one. Chicken Vindaloo was just average. Chapatti's were almost tasting undercooked. Cucumber raita was sour beyond belief. Coke was warm- yes warm,it took half a glass of ice to make it mildly cool. While vege was ok, the only recommendation i would make is Paneer Hariyali- the mint sauce was delicious and the Paneer was appropiately cooked. Service: This place suffers from a manager with attitude problem. First, no one would come to take our order. Then when we mentioned that the Biryani was disappointing, he said "what can I do?" Ambience: Needs a major makeover Price: Since most dishes are served family style, I would rate the price as $$

Food was really good, though it could have been spicier. The server didn't speak much English, which caused a lot of confusion when we got our food. On the upside, we got a lot of free food to make up for the mistakes.

Visited about 3 months ago during a snowbaording trip in Denver. Naan was very thin almost crunchy. Chicken curry was mix of white and dark meat, had a good mixture of spices. Attentive, friendly service. Chicken tandoori kabob was average. Would probably go back again if staying in Frisco.

Main point: Boring/bad, overpriced food. I would not return to it and would not recommend it. Normally I like to give a place a couple tries before giving up on it but the food at this place was so off the mark that I'm not going to waste my money. To be fair, my girlfriend and I only ate vegetarian food so maybe the meat dishes are better (though I doubt it). We had chana masala (chickpea dish - $11 pre tax and tip)), an eggplant dish ($14 pre tax and tip!) and garlic naan and I thought all it of it was bad. The garlic naan was boring, which is kiind of amazing that a bunch of dough mixed with garlic and butter could be so flavorless. The eggplant dish was even more boring. It just tasted like a pile of mush and for a pure vegetarian plate, it cost $14. Worst off, the chana masala tasted like it was made with barbecue sauce. I don't really understand how you could mess up something as simple as chana masala. I had this overall impression of the food as though it was imitation indian. Have you ever eaten ethnic food in some country that is clueless to how the food tastes in its country of origin (e.g. spagetti marinara in Japan, chinese food in central america)? It tastes off, wrong and bland. That is what himalayan cuisine tasted like to me. If you have no clue what good indian food tastes like or you have a callow palate, you may enjoy this place. It was cozy, the service great and the portions large (unlike other reviewers of this restaurant, I think large portion sizes are generally a plus). However, if you have ever tasted good indian food or in any way, have a discriminating palate, you will not be happy with the food in this place or the price you pay for it.

This was a very strange night. The wife and I went there on a cold chilly night . We had reservations and were seated immediately. We ordered a bottle of wine and some starters and our main course . For starters we had the tandoori platter it was good . However it was in a curry gravy . It was not what we expected still good . When we asked if we could have our wine with our starter. the server looked at us as if we were from mars .I asked her again about the wine she asked me to point to the bottle on the menu . So i did . She then brought us the bottle unopened ,so we could take it home . I asked her if she would mind opening it and if she would bring us some glasses . She finally got it .We were done with the starters. On to the main course My wife ordered lamb it was tasty . I ordered a noodle dish I had be for at a simialr cafe . The noodle dish was massive . I have complained about the size of portions before . This could have fed 8 people . I am not exaggerating. My wife looked at the server and asked if it was a joke . It wasn't . I think this place has potential the people seemed nice. The food is interesting . Just a little clueless how to run a cafe.

If you're looking for bland.. This is the place to go. I am part Pakistani and comes nowhere close to a typical Indian restaurant. one thing was good- the samosas. Nice ambiance and smell but no taste. very expensive for what u get.
