This is a great, hole-in-the-wall, Chinese place. The lady at the counter was really nice and the food was fresh and made-to-order. I ordered from their menu and not the scoop bin, though. The restaurant itself was clean. Parking was a bit of a hassle as the small lot was full (the lot is shared with other businesses). I had the wonton soup, veggie egg foo yung, and an order of steamed dumplings. The dumplings were just meh. It would've probably tasted better if I ordered them fried instead. The wonton soup was a very generous portion. Besides the broth being a little bland and having to add my own shoyu, it was delicious. Lots of wonton and a good amount of noodles. The egg foo yung and sauce was awesome. It didn't have that burnt wok taste like some places do. I'll definitely be back.

What a little gem!! This place serves authentic Chinese food for very good prices -- it really needs more recognition. This place is tucked away at the end of a little strip off of Broadway (east) on the south side of Hampden. Their hours are not always consistent because the hours are dependent upon whether the chef/owner is in or not, so it's worth giving them a call to see if he's in. If he is, you're in for a real treat. All of the dishes are family style -- the best style. My family and I shared the mapo tofu, some green vegetables, vegetable duck (mock duck), eggplant, and vegetable spring rolls. If you're dining in (which you should), the menu here is in Chinese (Mandarin, I think), so just ask the lady (chef's wife/server) for recommendations! She pretty much just listed off a bunch of stuff and we went from there. She's awesome. This place fed a family of four for under $40 and had us leaving with two boxes of leftovers. Win? I think, yes. I will definitely be back soon. DISCLAIMER: If you love Panda Express, you may not like this place because this place serves REAL Chinese food. Albeit, the scoop lunches are more Americanized, so those may be more enjoyable for those who aren't ready to try authentic Chinese food.

One item + rice/noodles + egg roll + bottled water + a slice of melon, for under $5. Tasted OK. Great for its price.

I just wasted 30 mins if my time waiting for this place to open and never did. Hours of operation for today stated 11am-9pm. No one was inside, the kitchen looked shut down with lights off, and no food was prepped & ready to be served. It's 11:42 right now and still looks the same as described... telling all my friends and family about this place and to not go there in the future. On my way to Panda Express now.... These people don't care about their customers. Don't waste your time and money at this dump. If i could, I'd give this zero stars, but unfortunately I cant...

This is the very BEST hidden gem in Denver!!! Panda One is a momma and pappa restaurant specialize in Shanghai style dishes. It is the best kept secret among local Shanghainese like me - now the secret is out :) The chef graduated from the best cooking school in China. He was head chef for 5-star restaurants and cooked for state dignitaries. On the surface, Panda One serves Chinese-American fast food. They don't have a menu for Shanghai style dishes yet. It is usually made through special orders among local native Shanghainese. I have included many photos (photos#52-67)with dish names on the post to help those who would like to give authentic Shanghai food a try. Just show the photo and tell the owners that Vivi recommended. Bon Appetite! ***p.s. Important: most of the dishes shown can be special ordered at the counter. However, some of the dishes such as the watermelon pot and stuffed duck are very time consuming to make and need to be ordered a day ahead. ***

Good Chinese food! 3 entree plate with rice and noodles, 2 sugar donuts and one drink for $7! I would come back for sure, it's not the best Chinese food I've ever had, but it is still really good food! Overall clean(for the neighborhood), good service and good food.. Great price!

Panda One, THANK YOU.... This time around for Chinese New Year Dinner Feast (2015), I invite several friends for the feast. With the help of my lovely Shanghai friends who now call Colorado home, they assist me and the Chef to "create" the unique Menu for the Chinese New Year. All in all it was a FEAST indeed. YES you definitely need those stretchy pants whenever you go to Panda One "FEAST Dinner". Though this time around, some of the dishes are a hit or miss to my tummy's content and some feedbacks I had from a couple of my friends too. I know Panda One, Chef can do better. Nevertheless, I don't mind in a heartbeat to introduce this establishment to one and all if they were to crave that Shanghai dishes they missed from home. Do call them in advance if you want the "authentic" Shanghai dishes, coz they need time to prepare them. The COLD Dishes included were : * Duck Meat Cooked With Pineapples * Shredded Chicken with Peanut Chili Sauce * Pickled Vegetables with Fava Beans * Sweet and Sour Lotus Roots The HOT Dishes that I could recall were : * Fried Spring Rolls * Sauteed Sweet Fried Shrimp with Shell On * Fried Beef * Eggplant with Peas and Corn * Pork Pattie Dish aka "PORK Meatloaf" * Sweet and Sour WHOLE Fish and its fillet cooked in Tomato Sauce * Crab With Rice Cake To end the evening, we are treated with a Hot Dessert of Mixed Fruits with Some Glutinous Rice Dumplings. My Oh My, we are indeed stuffed by this time! Stretchy Pants INDEED needed by the end of our evening! This recent visit was on Saturday February 28th 2015. Our Chinese New Year Feast was scheduled for 17:30hrs ish. We left Panda One almost at 20:00hrs ish. THANK YOU Panda One for making a successful Chinese New Year Dinner (2015) which we can remember and a memorable one for our group! @54/2015

We have come here two years in a row with our international food group. Both times we have been blown away by the food and wishing we had worn stretchy pants to dinner. We have a couple that is originally from Shanghai that are in the group. Both years they have worked with the chef to create traditional dishes. We start the meal with four cold appetizer dishes, beautiful table "art" that is food and hot tea. Then we lead in to the main dishes. This year we had a fantastic twice cooked beef, sweet and sour fish, pork meatball and rice cakes with crab. I've forgotten a couple of the other dishes. Bottom line though is this is fantastic food. The service is great too although we usually take up the whole restaurant with one long table which means our waitress is hustling big time. Another great experience this year!

I eat at a lot of Chinese restaurants. Bad or good, I'm Chinese and I'm always optimistic that the next Chinese restaurant will offer genuine native dishes rather than overly sweetened and overly salty western taste food. As far as Colorado is concerned my searching is over. Panda one is incredible. Panda One is legit. Despite the $1.25 counter, the kitchen in the back and the fantastic couple who put in work there are each amazing. Panda One offers legit eastern shanghai dishes. And these dishes are delicious! Most importantly to me, Panda One offers Shanghai New Years Noodles. To my knowledge it's the only place in the state. Which makes it the best Chinese restaurant in the state. I will absolutely eat here again and again and again. I hope that every one who loves Chinese food eats here. The owners are really nice and friendly. They have wonderful hospitality. I hope they flourish and continue to offer real delicious Chinese food to Colorado.

I honestly was a little afraid with area in all, but when my fiance and I came in we were honestly surprised, my food was prepared to order and only took 5 minutes, the lady was really nice to us and even gave us free donuts plus our total came out 10 dollars which was a shock in it shelf

Wow just walked in to try it out and the place had nearly no one there. The food looked old and most of the bins were empty. No addressed me or came up to greet me. Strike 2 for me. Sucks cus I really wanted some Chinese food.

I definitely lost the stomach vs Chinese food battle. But it's quick, close, cheap and greasy, yummmm. It's a good stop if that's what you're craving but I don't see what the hype's about.

Englewood food inspectors need to visit this place. I watched the server touch the insides of every serving dish she scooped food into with hands that had just taken a previous customers cash, and she returned change with a glove on. The same gloved hand touched every food service receptacle that she was putting my order in, one glove on, no glove on the other hand. She alternated hands touching things, so I couldn't tell if she had a clean glove on or had been transacting money with it....I didn't take a chance on finding out. I told her why I wouldn't accept the order, and that she had better get her act together before the health inspectors show up next week....I drove off@!

I was a little skeptical because it had 0 reviews. People in the dining room is a plus which there were. Its 1.25 a scoop and up. The dining and serving area are clean. Lots of items to choose from. The food is fresh. The cream cheese wontons are crisp but soft. My only complaints are the booths need to be updated because the cushioning is gone. And the TV has a digital tuner which is hit or miss. No soda fountain. Just cans or bottles. They were kind of warm but I'm assuming she just put them in. The owner/cashier is beyond friendly and checks on you during your meal.

This place serves Americanized Chinese food as well as authentic Shanghai style Chinese food. If you can read Chinese, order from the Chinese menu. If you can't read Chinese, bring a friend who can and have them order from the Chinese menu for you. This place is a complete hole-in-the-wall gem. Great food, good prices, and very friendly owners.

This place is a diamond in the rough!!! The owner took over the old dollar scoop place around 9 months ago. Husband and Wife ownership, husband was highly trained in China as a prestige culinary chef. His goal is to transform the restaurant into highly authentic Chinese cuisine (which is very hard to find in this part of town). As someone who pursuits authentic Chinese food, I was even impressed with the dollar scoop offerings. And its a SUPER GOOD DEAL TOO! If you are adventurous, go in and ask the chef to prepare authentic dishes (no menu, make by request) I had the spicy chicken and black bean ribs, they were SUPER! Will be back for sure. As mentioned in the other reviews, the service is wonderful! Enjoy ~~

So I live pretty close to Panda One and always past by the restaurant but never saw alot of cars. I'm sure it has more business during the afternoon hours, but I always swing by around 7pm. I stopped in and it's a husband and wife ownership-the female worker there is so nice and smiling. They do have $1.25 scoop with a good variety, I wanted something quick and not to expensive. I choose the Sesame Chicken & egg drop soup. I love the Egg Flower Soup & the Sesame Chicken was very flavorful as well. The pop are in cans which at $0.75 I didn't eat there cause I was close to home but it's a great place to eat some Chinese food considering the other places in the area are mediocre with high prices. One thing I need to say: Is there is not a minimum for Credit Card ..which is a plus. I'm not one to carry alot of cash!
