Food and service was excellent! Great ambiance and wine selection too. I'm a foie gras fan and I was in for a treat! Excellent. We've been here several times and the food was awesome. A little on the heavy and savory side. Sometimes a little too salty but you can ask the chef to hold the salt just a touch. Otherwise, it's a great place to dine. Sorry I can't get through all the dishes.... I'm too busy today but wanted to at least let you all know if you want a nice American restaurant to dine at try here. It's got a little fusion on the menu too to keep it fun and exciting.

Juniper has long been my favorite restaurant in Edwards, but the last two times I've been there have been a disappointment. Last time the lamb chops were 70% fat and 30% meat..for $42, when we complained they simply said, lamb has fat and that's the way we serve them...nice attitude, eh? The time before that they charges us for two extra appetizers, my husband just signed the bill without looking (Big Mistake) and when I noticed the next day they treated me like I was lying, trying to cheat hem, and gave me a really hard time. I had to go back three times before hey finally credited our card back for the extra appetizers. I think they are resting on their laurels, and it"s likely I will not return. Too bad, it used to be great food, and service.

Juniper is wonderful. Amazing, spectacular, and everything word you could possibly think to describe everthing you wish a restruant could be. I like meat, and I don't have issues eating anything. So that being said, there Veal Scallopine is good enough to sing heavenly odes too. The service is exactley what you would expect when someone gives five stars for a restruant, and the ambiance, oh, and did I mention the food. Be sure to make reservations if you can, and be prepared to spend a pretty penny.

My boyfriend, two friends of ours and I went to Juniper for my birthday. Loved the feel of the restaurant. Casual yet upscale. We started out with some signature cocktails which were amazing. We are all foodies so we sampled several different appetizers. The duck confit pizza was both unusual and tasty. Definately not something any of us would have normally gotten, but we all were pleasantly surprised by how good it was. The rest of dinner was amazing. I had the salmon which was probably the best I've ever had at a restaurant. My boyfriend got the pork chop. This was a HUGE plate. Looking around the room, we could see that this was not your "norm" as far as a fine dining restaurant. The portions were on the hefty side which is nice when you're paying $25+ per entree. We had lots of leftovers which were great the next day. We decided on the dessert sampler which was amazing. This was the 2nd time I'd eaten at Juniper and this blew my first experience out of the water. Fine dining without being pretentious.

We love to eat at Juniper. We come here to ski from the Bay Area, and have become "regulars" after a few visits to this restaurant. The food is always perfect. Literally, I have never been here, but that everything is prepared with class, served beautifully, and is delicious. I find the menu varies each time, and the specials are always something new. The main course is accompanied by remarkable vegetables, pasta or potatoes, and everything feels as fresh as it can be. Doug, the owner, is so pleasant, interested and interesting. Nothing pretentious or snooty about him--last time we ate a Juniper we talked about snowshoing with his dog. We always sit in the back of the restaurant by the creek, and winter or summer it is lovely and intimate. My one gripe? The waitstaff. Shane is a gem, and we have been fortunate to have him wait on us all but once, when he was off for the night. In his place, we had weird, surly waiters--they reminded me of aging college students who were itching to get high. They were, to a person, impatient, unpleasant and unhelpful. No smiles, no conversation, no inquiry after our comfort. Just--here's your food. Don't bug me. Uh, no. Not at those prices. Doug will figure it out, though. In the meantime, call ahead and make sure you get Shane to wait on you--he is wonderful.

Tough call on this review. Debated about going to 4 stars based on MY meal. But, other entrees at the table were mostly very mediocre. And, service extremely slow from start to finish. Hamachi special app was very good. Drinks ok. I'd say that another trip there might yield a higher rating when ordering other items from the menu (hopefully, service would be a little quicker) but I don't feel the need to go back until all other restaurants in the area have been tried.

Was in town for some skiing at Vail and thought to visit Juniper for dinner to change things up from the usual village haunts. The restaurant is an easy drive west of Vail and located in a cute little shopping district in Edwards. The ambiance was hopping and everyone seemed in good spirits. Appetizers were pretty good bit the bread was a little hard, as though it had been sitting out too long. Entrees, on the other hand, left a little to be desired. My lamb was too fatty and undercooked. Candidly, despite 'being' in Colorado, I have better cuts of lamb from Costco. Worse, the meat was so oversalted that I could only make it through half the portion. Dessert was actually very good and fresh (peach crepes) and recommended. Service was fair: the waiter was very friendly but a little scatterbrained and slow. All in all, it was disappointing,and for the price, I'm not likely to return just for average.

We had dinner here and then ordered take-out as well. Amongst the six of us, we ate here thrice and kept coming back. The staff were about as welcoming as we could expect. The food was very good. Wine list is well done, and the staff is quite helpful with wine selections. I had the pork belly appetizer, which was fantastic and ordered the steak/short-ribs combo (twice). The calamari appetizer was a big hit with everyone, though I thought it was overwhelmed with coriander. They had a lamb special the day we went which was very good. The real star though, is the toffee pudding dessert. I don't normally like toffee, but this is something else entirely. Worth driving two hours each way for on its own.

Food was ok. However, don't order the drink with muddled blueberry. It was not and it was it was gross and syrup like. We alerted waitress and asked for a glass of wine instead. She then tells us no comps and the owner would be over to talk to us. It was insulting because I never asked for a comp only another glass of wine. Server also forgot to put our dinner order and drink order in. Doesn't seem like the same As before in all our prior visits.
This is one of the best restaurants in Edwards, Colorado. The shrimp and grits app was out of this world. The trout with crab was also excellent and the service was exceptional.

Finally, this is THE restaurant to go to when in Beaver Creek or Vail, hands down. We found this gem on our last night in Beaver Creek before the resorts closed for the season. The restaurant is laid out so people are grouped into different large rooms, which breaks down the sound. You can actually have a conversation without shouting. We started with cocktails and these hit the spot. I had the filet and it was cooked to perfection. The sides were wonderful and supported the steak. For a dessert, I chose the Toffee Pudding. I never had this before and OM Goodness, I'm going to be trying to replicate this dish for the holidays. My friend had to stop me from licking the plate! If we had found this restaurant earlier during our trip, we would have eaten then several times. Now we know for the future! Thank you Juniper - Great establishment.

Consistently great for a few years now. Always a filling, flavorful meal served by professionals. You don't have strain too hard to see why Juniper stays as busy as it does in a Valley that revolves restaurants. Latest meal... *Inventive cocktail menu. I went with the Fred and Ginger...just the right amount of sweet and strong, interpret as you will. *Apps looked great, but we skipped to save room for the main course. The cheese plate has always been a crowd pleaser in years past. We did get sides of mac 'n cheese (being fatties on vacation and all) as apps, and it was kinda underwhelming. Oh well. *Filet...goddamn it was good. Nicely seasoned and so tender that you just have to look at it and it slices itself. A nice cut of meat that you should truly savor. Potato au gratin was buttery and fun to drag through the juice. Bone marrow ain't my thing, but I guess it's considered a delicacy. Spianch...psshh, I'm on vacation, bro, nice try. *Did not see dad's ribeye...was gone in, like, 2 minutes. Good sign. *Dessert has to be the sticky toffee pudding. It's legendary in these parts. Sweet and gooey with a hint of rum. I want to branch out on the dessert menu but I just always go back to it. *Service was friendly and always around yet not hovering. It was also prompt. They get the front of house stuff. *I also fell for the hostess tonight...hey girl, if you see this, email me? Drinks? Banter? I eagerly anticipate my next meal here.

Allow me to present the single worst meal I have ever had. How food can be so well presented, with great service, be so flavorless I simply cannot imagine. Let me begin with the home made pasta with peas. Had this not had Parmesan cheese it would have been huge mistake. Instead it was the better of the three items I ordered. The lamb, well cooked and beautifully prepared, TOTALLY flavorless. Seriously beautiful and seriously flawed. Then there were the fresh porcini mushrooms. They were again flavorless and mushy. I could have had better from canned mushrooms Green Giant. On a positive note, good wine list and great service. Just stay away from the food.

What a wonderful evening I had with my sisters at Juniper! We had an 8:00 reservation & arrived about 20 minutes early. We happily waited at the bar to have a cocktail & decided to stay there. The bartender was attentive, funny and prompt with everything. We started with the burrata, creamy & melt-in-your mouth yummy atop some field greens with a grilled peach, prosciutto and aged balsamic, superb! The crispy, light calamari was a nice portion piled on baby arugula drizzled lightly with a sauce and fresh herbs. The Caesar salad was tasty but a bit bland. I like to taste the anchovy a bit more and the Parmesan crisp was overpowering to incorporate into each bite. The last dish we had was the fresh tuna tartar. I loved the perfect blend of xvoo, s&p with a hint of a citrus mixed into the tuna and mounded in the center of the dish. Fresh guacamole with crisp wontons accented the perimeter of the plate to add a tasty compliment. We had a Pinot noir that was delicious but I don't remember the vintner. I'm vacationing in Avon and would highly recommend this restaurant. The prices are high but totally worth it. I loved the professionalism amongst the staff and the atmosphere was warm and inviting.

This is the kind of place that would have impressed me as a poor hungry college student whose date finally shells out for an "upscale" meal. The service really is great, the food is hefty and expensive. It tastes fine, they know what their older "mountain" crowd expects, and they deliver. Every time I am there, it's in the off-season, so there is always a substantial discount. If I ever had to pay full price, my review would be angrier. As far as I can tell, it's about the only place place in town for anything other than "Italian" or "tavern". Make a res if you decide to come, they tend to get real busy.

We just finished dinner at Juniper and were so disappointed. It came recommended by our hotel's concierge, yet we know from experience there are much better restaurants in the area. We ordered a filet and a manhattan steak. Both were prepared completely wrong. The filet was literally raw and cold inside and the manhattan steak was well done (I ordered it medium rare). The waitress told us that they usually undercook their meat, but even she was appalled at how raw the filet was ( it was ordered medium). She told us she was going to send the owner (Doug) over to our table, but then told us that Doug couldn't be bothered as he was busy. I very rarely complain about a meal, but the flippant attitude of the owner got to me. The fact that he couldn't even come over and apologize for our meals and offer to get them cooked right is a shame and bad for business. I will never go back or recommend this restaurant to any of my coworkers or friends. Don't waste your money here, go to Vin 48!

This was my 9th time to the restaurant. Doug, "Ralph", Kenny, Shayne, Todd all the staff made this experience just as great as the others. Place was packed when I got there and Doug was proactive and asked that bar patrons to make room for two more. As for the food Todd and his team had me in heaven with the Rib Eye on the bone. One of the best steaks in my life. My girlfriend had the Salmon, she enjoyed it very much. Meal was one of the top ten I have had in my life as far as preparation and taste. Staff was very knowledgeable on wine selections as well as specialty cocktails. Restaurant seemed to have it fair share of locals and everyone of them were greeted by name, but I never felt like an outsider. I have sent a few friends who were visiting Avon to the restaurant and all were treated the same way. Recommend you give it a try.

Had a wonderful Caesar to start-- served wedge style with dried capers, mmm. Also, they generously split the salad on two thoughtfully prepared plates. For our main courses we had the two house specialties: veal scaloppine and halibut. The veal was wonderful, tender, elaborate in a good way. The halibut was a bit dry, as were the grits beneath. Both dishes were salty. Both were generous portions-- good given the appx. $30 price tags. Dessert was only okay, the molten chocolate cake had a slightly strange texture and wasn't quite gooey enough on the inside. Ambiance: crowd a bit old, environment a bit sterile, service very nice and knowledgable.

Juniper has been our new favorite in the Vail Valley for 2 years now. The atmophere is elegant, but not over the top. The staff is very professional and leaves you wanting for nothing. Best of all, their menu! They change it approximately every quarter. There is always a wide selection of items to choose from. This winter, the menu has the largest selection we have seen so far. There is something for everyone. Last weekend my husband had the Osso Bucco and I had the Chilean Sea Bass... it was a toss up as to which was better. They have a excellent wine list and dessert menu as well. Reservations are recommended as it is always busy, due to being open year around... its a true locals favorite! TIP: if you are in the area in the Summer... definitely go and try and sit on the back patio over looking the Eagle River, fabulous!

We loved Juniper. We also did go there when they were having a deal that was 50% of all entrees and 20% off all bottles of wine, which instantly made the experience even that much better. I got the filet and it was very good. Really excellent. It was server with lobster ravioli (sounds amazing, right?) which were good but not quite as amazing as they sound and not as amazing as the actual filet. They have a back covered area that you can tell in the summer is open air overlooking the creek. It was funny because where we were sitting is basically where they have a garage door that closed and the garage door has an actual garage door motor hooked to the ceiling. That description makes the restaurant sound more bohemian which is not particularly accurate. It has a good upscale dressy feel in a Colorado way in which you could probably always get away with wearing nice jeans. I was impressed overall. I would probably have been a little more discerning had everything cost full price but especially since it didn't, it was an amazing meal and great experience.

This place is horrible. The people who run this restaurant are complete jerks, the food is awful and I think this place should be on the health inspector's radar. I had to get into an argument with the waitress to have my food actually cooked because they want to serve it rare and I want my food actually cooked. The restaurant was horrible overpriced, the owner/manager sometimes will answer the phone and just hang up on you if you ask a question. My friend got food poison after eating here. I wish I could rate this restaurant lower than 1 star. I would say avoid this restaurant at all cost.

Headline: Perfection is hard to attain, but is gets as close as you can be We arrived at the Riverwalk in Edwards earlier in the day, so we were wandering around prior to the restaurant opening, but we were sat promptly when the restaurant opened at 5:30pm. We sat at the back of the restaurant on the patio, which faces the river. Not able to decide on an appetizer (they all sounded a little too big), we opted to go straight for the main course. I went canon - a tamarind glazed duck breast with dried fruit, israeli cous cous, walnuts, and a zucchini confit purse. My wife decided to mix it up, after consulting with Scott - the sous chef - veal scallopine with a lemon beurre fondue and veal reduction, but swapping the normal angel hair caprese with a brown butter gnocchi. The bread basket arrived first, with three types of bread - a poppy seed wheat bread, a sun-dried tomato sourdough and a country white bead. The bread was unfortunately cold, so the bread was fairly ordinary. I liked the coice though. The poppy seeds in the first bread provided a nice texture and taste, and the bread was very hearty. You could really taste the tomato in the sourdough, and it was a little more delicate. The cous-cous was mixed with dried apricots and cherries, with water cress on top and walnuts sprinkled over the whole dish. Very savory, with a nice soft cous-cous. The zucchini purse was stuffed with duck confit, then grilled, which made a good accompaniment with the glazed duck. This was a well balanced and delicious dish. I'm not normally a nut person, but the walnuts added a texture without detracting from the dish. When the veal scallopine came out, it was wonderful. The chef had kept the caprese, but substituted the gnocchi for the angel hair. The gnocchi were perfectly soft and chewy. The cherry tomatoes added their note of acidity, and the veal was cooked to perfection. The sauce had hints of lemon inthe background. This was as perfect a plate of food as we have had in recent memory. Both dishes were excellent and highly recommended. A word about service - excellent. Our drinks came with fresh limes each time, and my wife (who definitely eats slower than me) was not felling like she was being rushed to eat at the same pace as me by their actions. My wife and i debated whether tge bread was egregious enough a sin to knock this restaurant off perfection. In the end, we decided the quality of the meal was perfection, and service, provided by Shayne, was also perfection. The bread was tasty, but cold. We'll overlook that small point and give this place a coveted five stars.

Well, 5 hungry late walk in customers would seem like a burden to a restaurant getting ready to close ..... apparently my thoughts were wrong. We were seated and catered to. As a group we ordered appetizers to share: steak tartar, tuna tartar, braised short rib and the beet salad. (out of the 5, 4 thought that the tartar's were excellent, all agreed that the short rib was a 9.5/10 and the service and speed of preparation were admirable). We shared an entree - the duck was a bit chewy yet full of flavor. Lamb was delicious and well prepared. Overall, the prices are a bit high in our opinion but for a resort town and the beginning of the ski season, they are OK. Nevertheless, you will not be disappointed. We will return.

We started our night by heading to the Gas House. We parked the car, walked in the door, and then one of the employees yelled at us "you cannot come in this way!!" Umm... ok, the door is open and the awning above the door has your restaurants name. We didn't see another entrance because of where we parked. It was so bizarre that we decided we did not want to come in at all! My phone was dead, so I couldn't look up a 2nd dinner option. We started driving and came up on this shopping/town square development. Within this center, we saw Juniper. Checked out the menu posted outside and decided it looked good enough to try. Boy am I glad we did! What a pleasant surprise. We were seated in a great table overlooking the creek. I had the duck and my husband had the steak. They had some unique dishes and everything was prepared really well. The only thing really keeping it from 5 stars is that it was pretty expensive, so I like a little more bang for my buck when spending that kind of cash on a meal.

Myself, my wife and alot of the people we spend time with are definitely "foodies." With that said, Juniper was one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. Our group ordered duck, 2 filets and I had the ribeye. Everything was deliciously marinaded, seasoned and cooked to perfection and the service was bar none. Not to mention, we walked in when the restaurant was very crowded (on a Saturday night), had no reservation and were still seated next to the window with a view of the raging Eagle River. this is a great example of a restaurant that is resting lazily on its laurels. judging by previous yelps, it might have been good when it opened, but once the reputation got established, it stopped paying attention to the little things that make places great. like comfortable seats and nice food. (these chairs look like something a shopping mall food court would throw away after the first year of abuse by a million mall rat bums. ugly steel and plywood. ouch). we sat on the patio, which has an agreeable view to the hilly north, in audio range of the babbling brook. lovely. whenever i see fois gras on a menu, i order it, just in case a do-gooding vegetablearian politician bans it one day, like they did in chicago. fools. juniper's effort was well undercooked, slathered in some buttery saffron creme anglais soup and garnished with soggy salad on soggier toast. two astonishing little orange jelly balls accompanied this mess, so for $25 i felt like i could have done better myself. and i don't even know where to buy fois gras, let alone orange jelly balls. (what on earth were they thinking)? for my next politically incorrect transgression, i went for the veal scallopini, which is the simplest test of any restaurant. theirs was curiously promised with linguini and "english peas", which, to this brit, raised the same red flag that "french toast", "english muffins" and "salisbury steak" does. geographically pairing a boring food with a suspiciously unusual country or town name does not make it a) exotic, b) that place's national dish or c) tastier. viz: denver omlette. utterly ridiculous. (and for those who have never tried one, salisbury steaks are neither). dudes: peas are peas. round, green, and softly steamed please. especially when being eaten. at prep school, these rock hard pellets would have been fanatically hoarded as primo ammunition for our peashooters during the friday afternoon assault on our elderly latin teacher. to know they were being served with veal and linguini in a posh american restaurant would have raised guffaws from not only the boys involved in the barrage, but also the ducking latin teacher. (and linguine is for throwing; it sticks to blackboards). considering veal is succulent young cow, supposedly as tender as a calf can possibly ever be, you'd think that it would always be delicious, especially when lightly seared and spiced in an intelligent and delicate way. why, then, do restaurants cloak it in spicy breadcrumbs, deep fry it to a leathery strop and then mask any remaining taste or texture with buttery sauces and distracting paraphernalia? god knows. actually, juniper knows. here they managed to create a dish that, in blind taste tests, would probably capture the following comments from a panel of independent judges: "chewy but salty", "chicken tender? no, it must be pork rind!", "what are these hard green things?", "isn't this the same yellow soupy shit that came with the fois gras?" etc. etc. yuk. my leggy companion had the scallops which were pestoed into submission under a salty green slurry. not my cup of tea, but apparently she likes that. my token nibble made little impact on a palate already disappointed with a cheap pinot and a single revolting bite of the kids' pepperoni pizza (upon which i almost gagged it was so greasy). by now tummy ache was setting in, so we didn't bother to order dessert, just in case we saw the same yellow sauce again. $135 was way too much to pay for a bad meal, but c'est la vie. on my scale of nosebag to nectar, nosh would be generous. as the stockbrokers would say: underweight till market conditions improve.

This place was perfect for a few cocktails and small plates. We sat at the bar and enjoyed their ravioli and heirloom tomato pizza. Both equally delicious. It was a darker in the restaurant and had a very relaxing mood.

I had high hopes for this restaurant for a evening out with some friends. We are not from Edwards and didn't know many places to dine, but his was close to the hotel so we decided to give it a try. The host was marginally friendly, the waitress was less friendly. The noise level in the restaurant was very high, you couldn't hear a person more than a couple of feet away. The reason is that there are far too many tables packed in to too small of a space. The food was average. One in our party said their steak was very good, everyone else said they had eaten better food in this type and style of restaurant. It is not inexpensive. With an appetizer, entree, couple glasses of wine and dessert, you will spend around $100 per person. It just isn't worth that much to eat at this restaurant. A couple of us had some whitefish that as supposed to be stuffed with lump crab and served on a corn relish and shrimp base. The relish was good. The whitefish looked like two white mounds and there was neither much flavor nor lump crab meat in the filling. Just mostly filler and some other type of crab. I won't go back to the Juniper , but I probably won't ever b e in Edwards again either, unfortunately, because it is a friendly, pretty mountain town and worth a visit.

We initially called the Saddleridge restaurant in Beaver Creek because we were in search for the best steak in the Vail area. However, we called and were told they had just closed last Friday and will reopen next winter Ski season. I asked for a recommendation for the best steaks and were referred to Juniper in Edwards & 48 Vin in Avon. We ordered the Greek salad & Filet and chicken entrees. Every dish was excellent and the Filet was one of the best I have had. The meal was well worth the 20 minute drive from Vail. Oh yes, I should add that the entrees are at 50% off due to this being a slow time for skiers.

Juniper came highly recommended from some friends, and I have already told others about it since our Sunday visit. My wife had the Veal Scaloppini. It was a smallish portion, but the flavors were perfectly balanced. I had the bone-in ribeye! Good Lord... This may have been the BEST steak I've ever had. Rich flavor, tender, cooked just right. We have heard about this restaurant for a while now and how perfect it is and now that we went we will definitely be back many times! The rib eye was the best rib eye my boyfriend and I had ever had the pleasure of eating. Along with that our shrimp and grits and kale salad were basically licked off the plate. Highly recommended especially if you're a local that wants to move away from all the corporate owned restaurants in town!

Juniper is one in my Steady Eddies! Always a great place to relax, say hi to the owner (Doug) and the friendly bar staff who always remember you! Every dish on the menu is over the top in presentation and flavor. Gotta try the veal scallopini, filet or halibut. Great wine selection and the drinks are a healthy pour. After your meal, don't forget to try one of their killer desserts! Great for a special occasion, date night or a lone meal at the bar!

Food and service was excellent! Great ambiance and wine selection too. I'm a foie gras fan and I was in for a treat! Excellent. We've been here several times and the food was awesome. A little on the heavy and savory side. Sometimes a little too salty but you can ask the chef to hold the salt just a touch. Otherwise, it's a great place to dine. Sorry I can't get through all the dishes.... I'm too busy today but wanted to at least let you all know if you want a nice American restaurant to dine at try here. Juniper has long been my favorite restaurant in Edwards, but the last two times I've been there have been a disappointment. Last time the lamb chops were 70% fat and 30% meat..for $42, when we complained they simply said, lamb has fat and that's the way we serve them...nice attitude, eh? The time before that they charges us for two extra appetizers, my husband just signed the bill without looking (Big Mistake) and when I noticed the next day they treated me like I was lying, trying to cheat hem, and gave me a really hard time. I had to go back three times before hey finally credited our card back for the extra appetizers. I think they are resting on their laurels, and it"s likely I will not return. Too bad, it used to be great food, and service.

Juniper is wonderful. Amazing, spectacular, and everything word you could possibly think to describe everthing you wish a restruant could be. I like meat, and I don't have issues eating anything. So that being said, there Veal Scallopine is good enough to sing heavenly odes too. The service is exactley what you would expect when someone gives five stars for a restruant, and the ambiance, oh, and did I mention the food. Be sure to make reservations if you can, and be prepared to spend a pretty penny.

My boyfriend, two friends of ours and I went to Juniper for my birthday. Loved the feel of the restaurant. Casual yet upscale. We started out with some signature cocktails which were amazing. We are all foodies so we sampled several different appetizers. The duck confit pizza was both unusual and tasty. Definately not something any of us would have normally gotten, but we all were pleasantly surprised by how good it was. The rest of dinner was amazing. I had the salmon which was probably the best I've ever had at a restaurant. My boyfriend got the pork chop. This was a HUGE plate. Looking around the room, we could see that this was not your "norm" as far as a fine dining restaurant. The portions were on the hefty side which is nice when you're paying $25+ per entree. We had lots of leftovers which were great the next day. We decided on the dessert sampler which was amazing. This was the 2nd time I'd eaten at Juniper and this blew my first experience out of the water. Fine dining without being pretentious.

We love to eat at Juniper. We come here to ski from the Bay Area, and have become "regulars" after a few visits to this restaurant. The food is always perfect. Literally, I have never been here, but that everything is prepared with class, served beautifully, and is delicious. I find the menu varies each time, and the specials are always something new. The main course is accompanied by remarkable vegetables, pasta or potatoes, and everything feels as fresh as it can be. Doug, the owner, is so pleasant, interested and interesting. Nothing pretentious or snooty about him--last time we ate a Juniper we talked about snowshoing with his dog. We always sit in the back of the restaurant by the creek, and winter or summer it is lovely and intimate. My one gripe? The waitstaff. Shane is a gem, and we have been fortunate to have him wait on us all but once, when he was off for the night. In his place, we had weird, surly waiters--they reminded me of aging college students who were itching to get high. They were, to a person, impatient, unpleasant and unhelpful. No smiles, no conversation, no inquiry after our comfort. Just--here's your food. Don't bug me. Uh, no. Not at those prices. Doug will figure it out, though. In the meantime, call ahead and make sure you get Shane to wait on you--he is wonderful.

Tough call on this review. Debated about going to 4 stars based on MY meal. But, other entrees at the table were mostly very mediocre. And, service extremely slow from start to finish. Hamachi special app was very good. Drinks ok. I'd say that another trip there might yield a higher rating when ordering other items from the menu (hopefully, service would be a little quicker) but I don't feel the need to go back until all other restaurants in the area have been tried.

Was in town for some skiing at Vail and thought to visit Juniper for dinner to change things up from the usual village haunts. The restaurant is an easy drive west of Vail and located in a cute little shopping district in Edwards. The ambiance was hopping and everyone seemed in good spirits. Appetizers were pretty good bit the bread was a little hard, as though it had been sitting out too long. Entrees, on the other hand, left a little to be desired. My lamb was too fatty and undercooked. Candidly, despite 'being' in Colorado, I have better cuts of lamb from Costco. Worse, the meat was so oversalted that I could only make it through half the portion. Dessert was actually very good and fresh (peach crepes) and recommended. Service was fair: the waiter was very friendly but a little scatterbrained and slow. All in all, it was disappointing,and for the price, I'm not likely to return just for average.

We had dinner here and then ordered take-out as well. Amongst the six of us, we ate here thrice and kept coming back. The staff were about as welcoming as we could expect. The food was very good. Wine list is well done, and the staff is quite helpful with wine selections. I had the pork belly appetizer, which was fantastic and ordered the steak/short-ribs combo (twice). The calamari appetizer was a big hit with everyone, though I thought it was overwhelmed with coriander. They had a lamb special the day we went which was very good. The real star though, is the toffee pudding dessert. I don't normally like toffee, but this is something else entirely. Worth driving two hours each way for on its own.

Finally, this is THE restaurant to go to when in Beaver Creek or Vail, hands down. We found this gem on our last night in Beaver Creek before the resorts closed for the season. The restaurant is laid out so people are grouped into different large rooms, which breaks down the sound. You can actually have a conversation without shouting. We started with cocktails and these hit the spot. I had the filet and it was cooked to perfection. The sides were wonderful and supported the steak. For a dessert, I chose the Toffee Pudding. I never had this before and OM Goodness, I'm going to be trying to replicate this dish for the holidays. My friend had to stop me from licking the plate! Consistently great for a few years now. Always a filling, flavorful meal served by professionals. You don't have strain too hard to see why Juniper stays as busy as it does in a Valley that revolves restaurants. Latest meal... *Inventive cocktail menu. I went with the Fred and Ginger...just the right amount of sweet and strong, interpret as you will. *Apps looked great, but we skipped to save room for the main course. The cheese plate has always been a crowd pleaser in years past. We did get sides of mac 'n cheese (being fatties on vacation and all) as apps, and it was kinda underwhelming. Oh well. *Filet...goddamn it was good. Nicely seasoned and so tender that you just have to look at it and it slices itself. A nice cut of meat that you should truly savor. Potato au gratin was buttery and fun to drag through the juice. Bone marrow ain't my thing, but I guess it's considered a delicacy. Spianch...psshh, I'm on vacation, bro, nice try. *Did not see dad's ribeye...was gone in, like, 2 minutes. Good sign. *Dessert has to be the sticky toffee pudding. It's legendary in these parts. Sweet and gooey with a hint of rum. I want to branch out on the dessert menu but I just always go back to it. *Service was friendly and always around yet not hovering. It was also prompt. They get the front of house stuff. *I also fell for the hostess tonight...hey girl, if you see this, email me? Drinks? Banter? I eagerly anticipate my next meal here.

Allow me to present the single worst meal I have ever had. How food can be so well presented, with great service, be so flavorless I simply cannot imagine. Let me begin with the home made pasta with peas. Had this not had Parmesan cheese it would have been huge mistake. Instead it was the better of the three items I ordered. The lamb, well cooked and beautifully prepared, TOTALLY flavorless. Seriously beautiful and seriously flawed. Then there were the fresh porcini mushrooms. They were again flavorless and mushy. What a wonderful evening I had with my sisters at Juniper! We had an 8:00 reservation & arrived about 20 minutes early. We happily waited at the bar to have a cocktail & decided to stay there. The bartender was attentive, funny and prompt with everything. We started with the burrata, creamy & melt-in-your mouth yummy atop some field greens with a grilled peach, prosciutto and aged balsamic, superb! The crispy, light calamari was a nice portion piled on baby arugula drizzled lightly with a sauce and fresh herbs. The Caesar salad was tasty but a bit bland. I like to taste the anchovy a bit more and the Parmesan crisp was overpowering to incorporate into each bite. The last dish we had was the fresh tuna tartar. I loved the perfect blend of xvoo, s&p with a hint of a citrus mixed into the tuna and mounded in the center of the dish. Fresh guacamole with crisp wontons accented the perimeter of the plate to add a tasty compliment. We had a Pinot noir that was delicious but I don't remember the vintner. I'm vacationing in Avon and would highly recommend this restaurant. The prices are high but totally worth it. I loved the professionalism amongst the staff and the atmosphere was warm and inviting.

This is the kind of place that would have impressed me as a poor hungry college student whose date finally shells out for an "upscale" meal. The service really is great, the food is hefty and expensive. It tastes fine, they know what their older "mountain" crowd expects, and they deliver. Every time I am there, it's in the off-season, so there is always a substantial discount. If I ever had to pay full price, my review would be angrier. As far as I can tell, it's about the only place place in town for anything other than "Italian" or "tavern". Make a res if you decide to come, they tend to get real busy.

We just finished dinner at Juniper and were so disappointed. It came recommended by our hotel's concierge, yet we know from experience there are much better restaurants in the area. We ordered a filet and a manhattan steak. Both were prepared completely wrong. The filet was literally raw and cold inside and the manhattan steak was well done (I ordered it medium rare). The waitress told us that they usually undercook their meat, but even she was appalled at how raw the filet was ( it was ordered medium). She told us she was going to send the owner (Doug) over to our table, but then told us that Doug couldn't be bothered as he was busy. I very rarely complain about a meal, but the flippant attitude of the owner got to me. The fact that he couldn't even come over and apologize for our meals and offer to get them cooked right is a shame and bad for business. I will never go back or recommend this restaurant to any of my coworkers or friends. Don't waste your money here, go to Vin 48!

This was my 9th time to the restaurant. Doug, "Ralph", Kenny, Shayne, Todd all the staff made this experience just as great as the others. Place was packed when I got there and Doug was proactive and asked that bar patrons to make room for two more. As for the food Todd and his team had me in heaven with the Rib Eye on the bone. One of the best steaks in my life. My girlfriend had the Salmon, she enjoyed it very much. Meal was one of the top ten I have had in my life as far as preparation and taste. Staff was very knowledgeable on wine selections as well as specialty cocktails. Restaurant seemed to have it fair share of locals and everyone of them were greeted by name, but I never felt like an outsider. I have sent a few friends who were visiting Avon to the restaurant and all were treated the same way. Recommend you give it a try.

Had a wonderful Caesar to start-- served wedge style with dried capers, mmm. Also, they generously split the salad on two thoughtfully prepared plates. For our main courses we had the two house specialties: veal scaloppine and halibut. The veal was wonderful, tender, elaborate in a good way. The halibut was a bit dry, as were the grits beneath. Both dishes were salty. Both were generous portions-- good given the appx. $30 price tags. Dessert was only okay, the molten chocolate cake had a slightly strange texture and wasn't quite gooey enough on the inside. Ambiance: crowd a bit old, environment a bit sterile, service very nice and knowledgable.

Juniper has been our new favorite in the Vail Valley for 2 years now. The atmophere is elegant, but not over the top. The staff is very professional and leaves you wanting for nothing. Best of all, their menu! They change it approximately every quarter. There is always a wide selection of items to choose from. This winter, the menu has the largest selection we have seen so far. There is something for everyone. Last weekend my husband had the Osso Bucco and I had the Chilean Sea Bass... it was a toss up as to which was better. They have a excellent wine list and dessert menu as well. Reservations are recommended as it is always busy, due to being open year around... its a true locals favorite! TIP: if you are in the area in the Summer... definitely go and try and sit on the back patio over looking the Eagle River, fabulous!

We loved Juniper. We also did go there when they were having a deal that was 50% of all entrees and 20% off all bottles of wine, which instantly made the experience even that much better. I got the filet and it was very good. Really excellent. It was server with lobster ravioli (sounds amazing, right?) which were good but not quite as amazing as they sound and not as amazing as the actual filet. They have a back covered area that you can tell in the summer is open air overlooking the creek. It was funny because where we were sitting is basically where they have a garage door that closed and the garage door has an actual garage door motor hooked to the ceiling. That description makes the restaurant sound more bohemian which is not particularly accurate. It has a good upscale dressy feel in a Colorado way in which you could probably always get away with wearing nice jeans. I was impressed overall. I would probably have been a little more discerning had everything cost full price but especially since it didn't, it was an amazing meal and great experience.

This place is horrible. The people who run this restaurant are complete jerks, the food is awful and I think this place should be on the health inspector's radar. I had to get into an argument with the waitress to have my food actually cooked because they want to serve it rare and I want my food actually cooked. The restaurant was horrible overpriced, the owner/manager sometimes will answer the phone and just hang up on you if you ask a question. My friend got food poison after eating here. Headline: Perfection is hard to attain, but is gets as close as you can be We arrived at the Riverwalk in Edwards earlier in the day, so we were wandering around prior to the restaurant opening, but we were sat promptly when the restaurant opened at 5:30pm. We sat at the back of the restaurant on the patio, which faces the river. Not able to decide on an appetizer (they all sounded a little too big), we opted to go straight for the main course. I went canon - a tamarind glazed duck breast with dried fruit, israeli cous cous, walnuts, and a zucchini confit purse. My wife decided to mix it up, after consulting with Scott - the sous chef - veal scallopine with a lemon beurre fondue and veal reduction, but swapping the normal angel hair caprese with a brown butter gnocchi. The bread basket arrived first, with three types of bread - a poppy seed wheat bread, a sun-dried tomato sourdough and a country white bead. The bread was unfortunately cold, so the bread was fairly ordinary. I liked the coice though. The poppy seeds in the first bread provided a nice texture and taste, and the bread was very hearty. You could really taste the tomato in the sourdough, and it was a little more delicate. The cous-cous was mixed with dried apricots and cherries, with water cress on top and walnuts sprinkled over the whole dish. Very savory, with a nice soft cous-cous. The zucchini purse was stuffed with duck confit, then grilled, which made a good accompaniment with the glazed duck. This was a well balanced and delicious dish. I'm not normally a nut person, but the walnuts added a texture without detracting from the dish. When the veal scallopine came out, it was wonderful. The chef had kept the caprese, but substituted the gnocchi for the angel hair. The gnocchi were perfectly soft and chewy. The cherry tomatoes added their note of acidity, and the veal was cooked to perfection. The sauce had hints of lemon inthe background. This was as perfect a plate of food as we have had in recent memory. Both dishes were excellent and highly recommended. A word about service - excellent. Our drinks came with fresh limes each time, and my wife (who definitely eats slower than me) was not felling like she was being rushed to eat at the same pace as me by their actions. My wife and i debated whether tge bread was egregious enough a sin to knock this restaurant off perfection. In the end, we decided the quality of the meal was perfection, and service, provided by Shayne, was also perfection. The bread was tasty, but cold. We'll overlook that small point and give this place a coveted five stars.

Well, 5 hungry late walk in customers would seem like a burden to a restaurant getting ready to close ..... apparently my thoughts were wrong. We were seated and catered to. As a group we ordered appetizers to share: steak tartar, tuna tartar, braised short rib and the beet salad. (out of the 5, 4 thought that the tartar's were excellent, all agreed that the short rib was a 9.5/10 and the service and speed of preparation were admirable). We shared an entree - the duck was a bit chewy yet full of flavor. Lamb was delicious and well prepared. Overall, the prices are a bit high in our opinion but for a resort town and the beginning of the ski season, they are OK. Nevertheless, you will not be disappointed. We will return.

We started our night by heading to the Gas House. We parked the car, walked in the door, and then one of the employees yelled at us "you cannot come in this way!!" Umm... ok, the door is open and the awning above the door has your restaurants name. We didn't see another entrance because of where we parked. It was so bizarre that we decided we did not want to come in at all! My phone was dead, so I couldn't look up a 2nd dinner option. We started driving and came up on this shopping/town square development. Within this center, we saw Juniper. Checked out the menu posted outside and decided it looked good enough to try. Boy am I glad we did! What a pleasant surprise. We were seated in a great table overlooking the creek. I had the duck and my husband had the steak. They had some unique dishes and everything was prepared really well. The only thing really keeping it from 5 stars is that it was pretty expensive, so I like a little more bang for my buck when spending that kind of cash on a meal.

But it's cozy bar and the atmosphere is unpretentious yet sophisticated. The food will blow you away. The ingredients are fresh and the flavors are unique. Our group ordered duck, 2 filets and I had the ribeye. Everything was deliciously marinaded, seasoned and cooked to perfection and the service was bar none. Not to mention, we walked in when the restaurant was very crowded (on a Saturday night), had no reservation and were still seated next to the window with a view of the raging Eagle River. Came here with a large work group on business and was not disappointed. Service is outstanding and the food is fresh, inventive and tasty. I wasn't sure what to make of the 'comfort fusion' concept ahead of time, but in retrospect it all held together. I had the scallops appetizer and the tuna, and both were quite good. Looking around the table, the group seemed pleased with the veal scaloppine and the steak, both of which were more in line with the theme than the direction I took. All in a great spot. Definitely a top notch restaurant. I highly recommend the margarita pizza as an appetizer, veal for dinner, and the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Try and reserve a table out by the creek in the back if the weather permits.

this is a great example of a restaurant that is resting lazily on its laurels. judging by previous yelps, it might have been good when it opened, but once the reputation got established, it stopped paying attention to the little things that make places great. like comfortable seats and nice food. (these chairs look like something a shopping mall food court would throw away after the first year of abuse by a million mall rat bums. ugly steel and plywood. ouch). we sat on the patio, which has an agreeable view to the hilly north, in audio range of the babbling brook. lovely. whenever i see fois gras on a menu, i order it, just in case a do-gooding vegetablearian politician bans it one day, like they did in chicago. fools. juniper's effort was well undercooked, slathered in some buttery saffron creme anglais soup and garnished with soggy salad on soggier toast. two astonishing little orange jelly balls accompanied this mess, so for $25 i felt like i could have done better myself. and i don't even know where to buy fois gras, let alone orange jelly balls. (what on earth were they thinking)? for my next politically incorrect transgression, i went for the veal scallopini, which is the simplest test of any restaurant. theirs was curiously promised with linguini and "english peas", which, to this brit, raised the same red flag that "french toast", "english muffins" and "salisbury steak" does. geographically pairing a boring food with a suspiciously unusual country or town name does not make it a) exotic, b) that place's national dish or c) tastier. viz: denver omlette. utterly ridiculous. (and for those who have never tried one, salisbury steaks are neither). dudes: peas are peas. round, green, and softly steamed please. especially when being eaten. at prep school, these rock hard pellets would have been fanatically hoarded as primo ammunition for our peashooters during the friday afternoon assault on our elderly latin teacher. to know they were being served with veal and linguini in a posh american restaurant would have raised guffaws from not only the boys involved in the barrage, but also the ducking latin teacher. (and linguine is for throwing; it sticks to blackboards). considering veal is succulent young cow, supposedly as tender as a calf can possibly ever be, you'd think that it would always be delicious, especially when lightly seared and spiced in an intelligent and delicate way. why, then, do restaurants cloak it in spicy breadcrumbs, deep fry it to a leathery strop and then mask any remaining taste or texture with buttery sauces and distracting paraphernalia? god knows. actually, juniper knows. here they managed to create a dish that, in blind taste tests, would probably capture the following comments from a panel of independent judges: "chewy but salty", "chicken tender? no, it must be pork rind!", "what are these hard green things?", "isn't this the same yellow soupy shit that came with the fois gras?" etc. etc. yuk. my leggy companion had the scallops which were pestoed into submission under a salty green slurry. not my cup of tea, but apparently she likes that. my token nibble made little impact on a palate already disappointed with a cheap pinot and a single revolting bite of the kids' pepperoni pizza (upon which i almost gagged it was so greasy). by now tummy ache was setting in, so we didn't bother to order dessert, just in case we saw the same yellow sauce again. $135 was way too much to pay for a bad meal, but c'est la vie. on my scale of nosebag to nectar, nosh would be generous. as the stockbrokers would say: underweight till market conditions improve.

This place was perfect for a few cocktails and small plates. We sat at the bar and enjoyed their ravioli and heirloom tomato pizza. Both equally delicious. It was a darker in the restaurant and had a very relaxing mood.

Definitely get the veal! It is a go-to dish. The food is really rich in flavor. I gave it a 4 star because some dishes where a little heavy on the salt for my taste. The toffee cake for dessert was worth every bite!

I had high hopes for this restaurant for a evening out with some friends. We are not from Edwards and didn't know many places to dine, but his was close to the hotel so we decided to give it a try. The host was marginally friendly, the waitress was less friendly. The noise level in the restaurant was very high, you couldn't hear a person more than a couple of feet away. The reason is that there are far too many tables packed in to too small of a space. The food was average. One in our party said their steak was very good, everyone else said they had eaten better food in this type and style of restaurant. It is not inexpensive. With an appetizer, entree, couple glasses of wine and dessert, you will spend around $100 per person. It just isn't worth that much to eat at this restaurant. A couple of us had some whitefish that as supposed to be stuffed with lump crab and served on a corn relish and shrimp base. The relish was good. The whitefish looked like two white mounds and there was neither much flavor nor lump crab meat in the filling. Just mostly filler and some other type of crab. I won't go back to the Juniper , but I probably won't ever b e in Edwards again either, unfortunately, because it is a friendly, pretty mountain town and worth a visit.

We initially called the Saddleridge restaurant in Beaver Creek because we were in search for the best steak in the Vail area. However, we called and were told they had just closed last Friday and will reopen next winter Ski season. I asked for a recommendation for the best steaks and were referred to Juniper in Edwards & 48 Vin in Avon. We ordered the Greek salad & Filet and chicken entrees. Every dish was excellent and the Filet was one of the best I have had. The meal was well worth the 20 minute drive from Vail. Oh yes, I should add that the entrees are at 50% off due to this being a slow time for skiers.

I would eat at Juniper again in a heartbeat! It is an upscale place without the feel that a tie and jacket is required. Juniper came highly recommended from some friends, and I have already told others about it since our Sunday visit. My wife had the Veal Scaloppini. It was a smallish portion, but the flavors were perfectly balanced. I had the bone-in ribeye! Good Lord... This may have been the BEST steak I've ever had. Rich flavor, tender, cooked just right. Came with a sweet potato au gratin. For dessert we had the toffee pudding cake. That was the awesome delicious conclusion. *** UNTIL Thursday JUNE 13th ALL ENTREES ARE 1/2 ***

Truly excellent. Not cheap but the bone-in ribeye never disappoints. Very nice decor and service. A must visit if you want a nice meal just off of I-70.

We have heard about this restaurant for a while now and how perfect it is and now that we went we will definitely be back many times! The rib eye was the best rib eye my boyfriend and I had ever had the pleasure of eating. Along with that our shrimp and grits and kale salad were basically licked off the plate. Highly recommended especially if you're a local that wants to move away from all the corporate owned restaurants in town!

Juniper is one in my Steady Eddies! Always a great place to relax, say hi to the owner (Doug) and the friendly bar staff who always remember you! Every dish on the menu is over the top in presentation and flavor. Gotta try the veal scallopini, filet or halibut. Great wine selection and the drinks are a healthy pour. After your meal, don't forget to try one of their killer desserts! Great for a special occasion, date night or a lone meal at the bar!
