You're definitely not here to eat atmosphere, you're here for some delicious, greasy-ass fish and chips, and you're gonna smell like it when you leave! I think my friend and I were the only two girls in there (maybe the rest are eating salads?), and it was definitely a clientele of folks looking for a huge, hearty meal. It's good as long as you know what you're getting into, an entire fried meal, duh. It just isn't one that I would go, "HEY! LET'S GO TO YORKSHIRE FISH & CHIPS!!!" on a regular basis. My friend (the fish-and-chip fan) and I split two sticks of fish with fries and some fried mushrooms. She enjoyed the fish, which are massive 5-6 oz sticks of fish. Batter is a little heavy, but still good for being a deep fried log of fish. Fries are meh- edible when hot, undesirable when cold. We also got the mushrooms everyone recommended, which were tasty. They were nice button mushrooms with some sort of a light sauce coating on the inside. Probably my favorite part of lunch. The guy working at the counter was so unbelievably nice to everyone with such great service that I wonder why he isn't working somewhere bigger and better. Food, as you can imagine, arrives quickly. I don't know if the price tag quite matches the experience, but if you are a fish and chip lover, it's worth finding out yourself.

My dad used to bring me here all the time as a child. I will continue coming here as long as they stay clean and in business.

My man has been talking about this place for a looooong time & we finally went in this past weekend. I absolutely had to get the mushrooms because of all the reviews (& because I knew I'd have them all to myself... he's not a fan of mushrooms). I tried them first with the ranch they provided. That was a mistake... the ranch was very peppery & just not what I was looking for. But the mushrooms by themselves were fabulous. Very crunchy, well flavored exterior gives way to juicy deliciousness inside. Then it was time for the fish. These look more like massive fishsticks than filets but they all have PLENTY of quality fish inside. Pair them with a splash of vinegar & a dab of slightly sweet tarter sauce, and you're in business. The fries were good though I guess I prefer the steak cut with my fish... These soak up the vinegar with no problem though & paired very well with everything. It won't be a frequent stop (I felt a bit gnarly about eating a fully "brown meal"... no health food here, but that's obviously not expected) but it's on my short junk food list for sure.

Excellent fish and chips. I heard this place has been around for about 45 years. This will be a destination ever time we are in Denver. YUM! THANKS...

Good fried fish and friendly staff. Not much selection and the atmosphere is not so good. Good fried food but greasy fried food.

A decent place to grab some fish. Better than other fast food fish places.but it doesn't stand out for fish in the center of a landmass. The interior is like Davy Jones closet. Tartar sauce.

First off I am from New England and believe me...my diet is very seafood centric when I am at home. That being said, the seafood that I miss the most when I am living here in Colorado is clam strips. I came to the restaurant with clams on my mind and that is what I ordered. My partner had the fish and chips. I didn't think the fries were fantastic. The clam strips were really good...but I would have to say that the fish and the tartar sauce were REALLY good. I can't say that the strips were quite comparable to those that I get in CT, but they are a worthy stand-in for when I have a craving. However the fish and tartar are the real reasons to have a meal here.

This place is the best fish n chips in town, the shop is a little grimy but the food is fantastic. If your looking for a good hole in the wall restaurant, this is your place!

Came here to eat for the 1st time with the hubby and we were disappointed. We had the combo platter which was $16.00 for 3 jumpo shrimp, 5 scallops and 1 big piece of cod fish. We told the cashier it was our 1st time in and he didnt really seem to care. It wss $21.11 for 1 combo platter and 2 drinks. A little pricey for what we received. Everything extra greasy like everyone has said. Scallops were good, but was not a big fan of the cod. Not for my taste atleast. Seemed like a nice place with great reviews but in the end not our style.

Have had Yorkshire Fish & Chips since my teens and it is absolutely wonderful to have them around. Delicious flavors and fish & chips done right!

Looks great smells amazing does a body good If like me your stuck in Denver for the weekend this Is the place to go. Genuine Icelandic cod Just not in the shape I'm Used to seeing it in. Was very tasty a little bit more Expensive than you Big Macs or burger kings But all cooked fresh and with better quality products. Love it love it. My new go to place in Denver

I have been coming here for over 25 years! The staff is amazing and the food is great! The clam chowder is so crave-able that you will drive hours. The serving sizes are plentiful you never know what to get, thankfully they have a sampler in full and half orders. This place also has a cameo in The Bad Engrish "fish n chips" video. We want fish and chips! youtu.be/PaFA8gZErVs

  • A Marie J.

Solid fish and chips however for what they lack in flavor they make up for in oil. Very greasy but I suppose that is expected with fish and chips. The place is a definite dive. The service has never been friendly here and kind of pricey for what you get. They are definitely doing something right though. They have been around for a long time and have lots of happy customers.

Happened to run into this place while needing lunch before a long day of furniture shopping. Best Fish and Chips EVER(apparently just like overseas according to the significant other) If you're not crazy hungry just order 1-2 pieces, unless you want massive leftovers, the pieces of fish are enormous, they don't skimp on the chips either, delicious tarter sauce even!! I live clear across town and would drive here just to feed a craving for fish and chips. Yummy! 4 stars only bc it's a little pricey, will definitely go back though for sure! I was so excited I sent the pic of the front to retrieve and family telling them how stoning delicious it was!

So this is going to be a sad review. Is Yorkshire fish and chips "good". It is decent. The batter is not flakey, it is not pull apart melt in your mouth, make me want to stand up and come back again good. In other words I was pissed at myself for not going to GB fish and chips. Captain D's is even better. I know that is blasphemy but it is the honest truth. Go to GB Fish and Chips instead. They know what they are doing and you will want to go back. Of course try this place once just to say you did.

  • Brandy V.

I live very close to this place but don't come here often due to the prices. If it didn't cost so much for one battered fish, I would order food from here more often. Either way, it is pretty good here.

  • Ryan P.

Some of the best fish and chips in Denver, I can tell they use good quality fish, it has a sweet delicious fresh taste that is delicatley fried to perfection!!! The fried oysters are a must try! It is a little pricey however especially compared to some lame Long John Silvers but there is a huge difference in quality and taste. I was little bummed when they started to charge extra for a side of slaw (the only thang somewhat healthy there). I would probably give them five stars if they served beer there;)

  • d b.

This place is a hole in the wall but the fish and chips are the best I've had in Denver. Way better than GB's. The clam strips are great too. I haven't had much else and to be honest this place is no frills. Obviously not a place for a date unless your girl is from Liverpool and missing the food of her native peoples... Also the dining room has been a little dirty when I've eaten there a couple of times. Great place to stop for a bite with your bros though. No alcohol though.

I was having a blah day and had absolutely no interest in cooking. After tossing ideas around with the bf, we finally decided to try some place new that was close to our place. Having driven by the place on a daily basis for almost a year, I was pretty excited to check it out. We opted for take-out rather than dining in, so I can't really talk about the whole dining experience. I think an update will be needed. I got the full order of fish and chips. At first, seeing the price tag for two pieces of fish, I was a little turned off. That is until I saw just how big the pieces of fish are. The breading was nice and light and was perfectly crisp. The fish, although very moist and flaky, was just firm enough to not fall apart everywhere. The chips? Meh they were ok. I hear they have great clam strips. I'll have to check these out next.

Quick, delicious and friendly. Real good food. Love this place for quick and fast food.

  • Sarah H.

I was expecting a pub sort of ambiance, but what we actually got was worse than Long John Silvers. The prices charged were equivalent to those of a "real" restaurant, but the food provided was simply deep fried and without flare, the place was a hole in the wall, and the staff were all rude and without concern for the patrons. Even with a 10% coupon, I felt we way overpaid and it wasn't worth our time.

I had driven by this place many times, always wanting to check it out. Today, lunch time and I was in the neighborhood. First impressions walking in: I personally never judge how well a place cooks up a meal by the appearance by the way.. Kind of a dive. It was lunch time and there were 2 groups of senior citizens having lunch. A good sign of you ask me. Other than that, no one in the restaurant. I was quickly greeted by the staff, very personable and sparked up good conversation. I informed him that I had never been there before, asked for recommendation, and he said as long as I wasn't on a budget, I should go with the combo. I agreed With a soda, and 19 dollars later, I had my combo within 5 minutes. The shrimp, 5 pieces, was great. The fries as others have mentioned are soggy, but decent tasting. The combo came with 1 piece of fish, about 8" long. The batter was very crisp, with good taste. Unfortunately, let me down in the freshness category. Flaked nicely, but you could definitely tell that we live 1000 miles from the nearest ocean. I for one would not like to be reminded of that once in a while. The meal came with all sides I asked for (marinara, tarter, and malt vinegar, which is a must have for me). All sides were up to par. Overall, definitely overpriced. I think the combo after pondering, costs more than the individually priced items added up.

CLOSED BECAUSE OF A FIRE... note on door says they will be reopening... if you like greasy fried food that is good, this is a place to go...

    (3)
  • Nick S.

Not bad. A little pricey, but not ridiculous. The fries were not crisp at all, though so major points off, there. Some salt right out of the fryer would have helped the blandness as well. I'll be back at some point, but certainly no rush.

  • Beau W.

I like this place. Should be 3 1/2 stars. They try really hard to be a traditional fish and chips place. The only thing that separates these places is if their batter stands up to the fryer. If there is a hole, there is a greasy soggy mess at your hands. This place does good with that. It is still greasy. Portions are big. Tartar is okay. Malt vinegar is readily available. The sides are very good. This is the best in the area. Should be 3 1/2 as the prices are too high.

  • Travis J.

I'm going to go ahead and give these guys a 4.5 "So a 4 for now until the next time I visit them anyways" These Guys were VERY quick and efficient. I ordered 2 orders of Fish and Chips and within 2 minutes there were in my hand. The fish was about the size of a suave shampoo bottle. They were VERY filling as well. The basket came with 2 pieces of fish and some fries. The fries weren't anything special. But none the less the fish was pretty gosh durn good... I am for sure going to be back

    (4)
  • Mark O.

Since I was in the area, I decided I'd finally come check this place out after reading the positive reviews for it on Yelp. The fish, while large pieces, seemed to be fried in oil that was old. The cole slaw was the best I've had in Denver, however...very creamy and obviously homemade. The "chips" were straight-cut french fries and nothing to write home about. It was an inoffensive experience...I wouldn't go out of my way to dine here, but if I'm in the area again, I'll go back.

  • Jimmy W.

Maybe it was because I was super hungry but the three guys manning this place worked their MAGIC. The strips of fish were so perfectly fried, golden and crispy. Not greasy whatsoever. The calm chowder was also up to par but the focus should be on the fish. The only critique is that the fish was a little over cooked but that is ok.

    (4)
  • Sebastian J.

Hell to the yes baby wow I'm fucking impressed this place is amazing and the tartar sauce is all that I will definitely be back

Today is MY Birthday. Actually Hubs wants to go some other place to celebrate MY Birthday, but I told him, I would like to try to eat at this establishment just to compare some notes... Anyways, to Yorkshire Fish and Chips we went since its the nearest place we can drive thru from the nightmare traffic we face as always during rush hour from work. When we arrived, sometime like about 1615hrs, there are quite a number of patrons dining in this establishment. There are a couple of patrons requesting for to go orders too. So we made our order, and take a seat while waiting for our order to be ready. Many more patrons, came while we wait for our order. About 15 to 20 mins, then our order was ready. These were what we order for this evening : * Fish & Chips * 1/2 order of Fish & Chips * 1/2 order of Shrimp * 1/2 order of Mushrooms * A small bowl of Clam Chowder * 2 beverages... Hubs had the full order of Fish & Chips while I had the 1/2 order of Fish & Chips. I did not know that the 1/2 order shrimp comes with fries, so there are plenty fries shared among the two of us. We even have plenty leftovers and I like the fries too since its the Not so skinny version of fries, NOT the CHUNKY one kind of fries..., the normal kind of fries, just the way I like my fries to be... Hubs like his order of Clam Chowder. The dish that stood out for me this evening was the Mushroom. I am still trying to figure out, what they put in the batter to fry their mushroom. I LIKE IT! Another good part about this establishment is, that they provide extra sauce without us asking for it. Its good when you are hungry. Its worth to eat here, coz to Hubs its cheap. The total bill for us was $30.12! But Hubs prefers the other establishment of Fish & Chips that we ever went before. All in all its an OK experience eating here. Nothing fancy, just good...Its a toss of 3 to 3.25 stars... The establishment is kept clean. This place reminds me of a "old-school" cottage, but Hubs told me perhaps this establishment was from a Mexican restaurant in their previous life. The rest room for the ladies is kept clean too. A slight downside about this establishment is where its located. On a pretty busy street and the parking can filled up easily.

I have never eaten inside the dining room here but I always order to go. Everything they have on their menu is very good... My favorites are the jumbo fried shrimp, fried fish, and fried mushrooms. You'll need a lot of napkins but it's worth it.

  • Abasin S.

This place is a dive but the Fish & Chips is the best over all taste and value here in Denver. Nice tick cut of fish at a fair price. The other guys, GB Fish & Chips, give you a molecule of fish with ton of batter around and then rob you blind, don't be fooled by the photo on their web site. This place rocks

  • Dian C.

Have heard about this place FOREVER. Finally ate there last night. Fish was greasy; don't think their fry oil was hot enough. I prefer tartar sauce like the east coast----not sweet but more like aioli mayo---rather than the Miracle Whip with relish added like at the Yorkshire. Clean. Your crew was nice and tolerant of our group of 5. Divey in a good way. Reasonable price for seafood. Offers green beans or cole slaw instead of fries for those that don't do fries. Nice touch. I'd eat here again.

    (3)
  • Boni A.

The food is alright, but for the price, you could go to a nice sit down place and be good to go. I don't know how they are still in business charging so much. Just my opinion.

  • Chirs C.

I grew up in New England and have lived in Denver for 12 years, I have all but given up on seafood until I found Yorkshire. Forget calorie counting, forget your health food and understand and appreciate a plate of food that has stood the test of time. The Yorkshires fried fish and fried shrimp is the standard. I dare you to find anything close in a 5 star fine dining establishment. No frills, no BS, maybe a smile, just like this East Coaster likes it. And the chowdah, let's talk chowdah, wicked good I tell ya. Thank you for this beacon of hope in a land covered with beef, fast food, sisco foods and mediocre service.

I like this place, I do I do. Interesting how some reviewers are calling it "divey.." Umm, well, it's a fish 'n' chips place. Did you expect something else? I don't think it looks any more like a dive than every McDonalds in America. I actually really appreciated the simplicity of the place. No froo froo b.s. - the food speaks for itself. Give me a sturdy chair, table and let me enjoy my greasy fish. The fish and chips were both very fresh. I loved how the batter wasn't soggy at all, even after adding my malt vinegar to it. It did think the batter on the fish could have used a little more flavor 'n' spice, but overall, very tasty. Staff was friendly and fast. Definitely coming back. :)

If you can get past Yorkshire's grim decor and atmosphere, the unfriendly and embarrassingly unprofessional kids working the fryers, and the dirty unswept floors, you're in for some damn good fish and chips! (I doubt it was coincidence that while the place was packed with people clamoring for take out, only four people were dining in.) Is it better than GB Fish and Chips? The cod is definitely as good (nice sized pieces of thick fresh fish encased in a light crispy ungreasy batter), and at $8.95 for a full f&c dinner (compared to GB's online menu price of $14.55), it's way more wallet-friendly. Their "chips" are definitely not as good - bagged skinny French fries are not chips, Yorkshire guys... The coleslaw, though not homemade, was decent enough, and a good deal at 75c a serving. Would I go back? For sure. For the price and quality, it's definitely worth the drive. Oh, and though the sign says they are open until 8.30, they locked the doors at 7.50. If you drive into the parking lot and/or walk up to the door while they are "closed," they WILL be mocking you, trust me.

Best Fish n Chips in Denver. Period. Yes, I've tried most of the others, at least the better-known ones. Not much in the way of ambience, no beer, it really is a bit of a dive, only the food makes it worth it.

Oh goodness how I miss the taste of the best ever Fish and Chips in the USA!! Have moved out of state but for sure will be knocking on Yorkshire's door when we come through Denver. They NEVER disappoint, they are simply the best there is. This family run business is about pleasing their customers palettes and they come through every time. This no frills place is for eaters of serious fish and chips and anything else they have. I wish they had a location in NC!! I want some fish/chips and shrimp please. Good Friday at Yorkshire may be the longest wait you'll ever encounter anywhere. Enjoy the scrumptious crumbles that come in the bottom of every order. Oh dang, how I want some of everything, mouth is watering. Keep up the happiness you always bring to your customers;-)

I have had many a great plate of fish & chips at various Brit and Irish pubs around the country BUT this place is the closest you can get to an original British 'Fish & Chip Shop'. A little background, the chippy is the British version of fast food. They are always open for lunch and stay open late so you can eat after the pub. So about Yorkshire, when you walk in, the counter where the fish is displayed & drained fresh out of the deep fat fryer is just like back home. The menu is basic with Fish and Chips in half or full sizes, then theres Scallops or Clam Chowder which I did not try. Chippys are normally take away but this place has a seating area so I decided to dine in as I don't live close. I got the full size Fish & Chips which is two good size strips of cod battered (but not greasy) over some thick cut chips. $8.95 is not bad compared to pub prices. On the table they had salt, malt vinegar and ketchup. I was there at 4pm and while I ate there was a steady stream of customers ranging from young to old and about half was take away (carry out)! This place could only get better if they had other traditional items like gravy, sausage or pies etc. So if you like or wanna try authentic British Fish & Chips, give this place a try.

Firstly: This place is closed Sunday & Monday. (I really wish more Yelpers would post hours.) Fish: Excellent Clam strips: Good Chips (fries): Bleh, merely adequate Definitely a place I'd take my Boston friends - it kind of feels like a Massachusetts clam shack, but it'd sure be better with a beer. I'm with Bubba, it's a dive, but I like dives with good food. Next time I'll try the scallops.

  • Graham G.

Great fish and chips, complete with crunchy pieces of batter like my brother and I used to fight over as kids. The decor is tired and dated, pretty much like every fish & chip shop is England adding to the authenticity.

    (4)
  • Doug Y.

Wow, these guys still turn out a good platter of fish and chips (the clam strips are excellent too). While all the other fast food fish and chip pretenders have come and gone these guys still churn out piles of fresh fish. I've been eating here for over 20 years and it's still good. I have never been able to figure out the need for the pile of fried batter bits that gets tossed into every cardboard tray of fish and chips unless it sops up the oil to keep the fish batter crisp? Dunno, but expect to smell like you've been fried when you walk out of here but it's a small price to pay for fish this good.

    (4)
  • Shawn R.

their cod is pretty good but everything else is average....certainly dont order oysters.....they come out as big as your fist which may sound nice but dont forget youre getting a fried item so you end up with a thin layer of batter and then a couple of inches of cooked oyster

  • K B.

Having lived in England and Ireland, I find this restaurant to offer the most authentic fish and chips for miles. The fish is fresh and made while you wait. This isn't fast food, but it is really good food.

  • Paul B.

Went here for the first time today. Establishment was fine, nothing special. Friendly people working there. I like how they make your order right when you order it so it comes out piping hot. The fish was very meaty and the batter wasn't over powering. Liked it. Fries were OK. Fish probably gets a 4 and the fries probably get a 2 and a half. Will most likely be back, but not a must. Doesn't mean anything bad about it though. I'd recommend you try for yourself.

This place is the perfect "hole in the wall" Fish and Chips place!! My family and I have been going to Yorkshire since I was a little kid and now I take my own family and my son here! Such a great mom and pop restaurant with no frills but amazing food. Years ago their hours of operation were limited and anytime their family went on vacation the restaurant would shut down too. We are excited to see that they have a steady hour of operation and aren't closed on any regular day!! Their fish and chips, fried oysters, coleslaw, and best of all the amazing TARTAR sauce are fresh and delicious every time. I've never had a bad experience here. It can get crowded as the restaurant isn't that big but its worth the wait!!! My entire family enjoys this restaurant even though we live over 40minutes away! Be careful after exiting pecos though cause you might miss it, pass the burger king and you've gone too far!

I was going to wait until I gave this place a second try, but I'll review it now (and update if I go back- it may be awhile). Yorkshire is actually just up the street from where I've lived for almost 3 years now, but I just finally made it over for lunch. I decided to go with the standard fish n' chips- I feel like you should try the signature dish at a place first, y'know? The upside was that it was FAST. Like, whoa, fast. Two huge pieces of fish thrown on top of some fries, finished off with salt and malt vinegar. The downside is that I just didn't think it was that good. The fish didn't have a lot of flavor- I had to put extra salt on, which I rarely do. I appreciated that it wasn't overly greasy though, and I didn't feel yucky later as I often do from fried food. Oh, I also thought 9 bucks was pretty pricey for 2 pieces of fish and a handful of soggy fries. Like I said, I'll give it another try, since it's in the hood.

Yesterday was our first trip to Yorkshire Fish and Chips and we were NOT disappointed. No frills here, just good eats, good prices and the head honcho, Kevin, is awesome! He took the time to chat with us, explain the menu and even got some great pics up here as a result. Way to go, Kevin! This place is authentic 1960s British fish and chips! Gotta love it. This is a great find. It's a counter service style restaurant so you won't be waited on, but you will get the best fish and chips in Denver! Definitely worth the drive even if you don't live in town. We came all the way from Conifer. No regrets.

A no frills review for a no frills eatery. Tasty, not-too-greasy fish and shrimp served on a bed of crispy fries and batter leavins. Probably won't make the culture page of the Times, but sometimes simplicity is bliss.

  • Sherry P.

Returned here after being gone for several years. Food is still excellent. Best fish and chips in Denver. This is a no frills place but is very clean and the people behind the counter are friendly and efficient. If you want a simple place with great food, this is it.

  • Mindy G.

Come for the fish and stay for the...well nothing. The fish is the only good thing about this place. I could be talked into going back if I was in the mood for deep fried fish.

    (2)
  • Paul M.

The food OK, nothing spectacular. I've seen mentioned in some of the reviews about the curtness of the staff. Some of the reviewers attributed their attitude to being busy. I was there today and can tell you their curtness is SOP whether they are busy or not. The place was all but dead today and the staff was still terse.

Having read the Yelps on Yorkshire, and driving by it every day as I pass Pecos on I25, I finally decided to give it a try. It was... interesting. I got the combo platter for $10.85. It consisted of Shrimp, Scallops, and 1 piece of Fried Cod. It seemed a little pricey for that and a scoop of basic frozen french fries. But the good: The fish was fresh. The batter was crisp. The Meh: The fries. Boring, bagged, frozen fries. The "Could do Better": The batter, while being crisp and light, lacked flavor, and needed salt, among other things. (Dash of garlic powder? Some Old Bay? Which I generally despise but, man, SOMETHING!) Also, it seems to me that a place that specializes in Fish and Chips could take the time to make their own tartar sauce. This stuff was straight from the supersized jar o generic tartar sauce, without even a sprinkle of dill added to present the illusion of homemade. Call me picky. But I noticed it, and actually only used the tartar sauce on the few fries I nibbled on. The others' description of the decor is accurate. Run down and in need of basic repair, but the employees did make a pass of cleaning the tables. (Of course, this may have been because it was near closing.) So, because of the freshness of the fish, Yorkshire gets 3 stars from me, but there's definitely room for improvement. Not sure how soon I'll be back.

4.5 Stars! This is not a place where you would count calories, let's just get that out of the way. Yorkshire Fish and Chips has been around for about 40 years and is supposedly ran by the same family. (They had a sign inside that said that but I did not confirm with the employees.) This is by far one of the best, if not the best, place for fish and chips in North Denver. This is not your typical bar food with fried to death fish and soggy fries. They have really tender and flaky fish and really crispy fries with fry crunchies. Deliciousness! I have just about had everything on the menu here. I love their shrimps, scallops, oysters, clam strips, clam chowder, cole slaw and fried mushrooms. I've been coming here since living in Colorado for the last 8 years. I just haven't been coming since trying to lose weight... but I drive by it everyday on my way home and it's just torture! I would recommend getting the combo plate if you are a first timer so you can try more than one variety of seafood but I always ended up going back to the fish. Their homemade tartar sauce is great and so is their cocktail sauce if you choose to get shrimp and other things. But if you're a true fish and chips kinda guy/gal, go with the malt vinegar... yum yum! BTW, add your own salt and seasonings since they make it plain in case people are sensitive to added seasonings. I only took away half a star because this place would be great if the food is served with some sort of alcoholic beverage but they only serve soft drinks and water, also if you plan on tipping bring cash. Their credit card slip doesn't allow tipping.... which surprises me when the food is so great... They are also now open everyday of the week.... Just a quick FYI. ;)

I was willing to ignore the unkempt look of the place, the abundant dirty tables even though the place was empty, the very long wait for our food, the ridiculous prices and the Fox Cable News channel blaring all in the name of finding some good fish and chips a bit closer to home than going all the way to GBs in Denver. I found the fish to be void of seasoning and flavor and in weird log shapes to boot. The other reviewers are correct - the tartar sauce and slaw are decent but that doesn't make for good fish. Two stars cause everything was at least hot and the fries were good.

Had the 2 piece fish and chips. I liked the stick style of the fish and the batter was nice and crispy. I like the fish & chips from Baker St. more though.

Let's talk for a minute about Yorkshire Fish and Chips. From what I was able to find out, the business has been around since 1971 give or take a year or two, which makes it roughly 40 years old. That alone is extremely impressive considering they serve mainly one thing: fish and chips. I'm not entirely sure it's been run by the same family all those years, but for it to have been around that long means it has been doing something right. Yorkshire is a dive, no joke about it; but it's perfect in its simplicity. You get exactly what you pay for and nothing more. The place itself looks a little worn out and you may even pass it by questioning yourself about stopping. It's located just off of I-76 and Pecos on the west side of the street, so there isn't much in the way of scenery at this place. No matter, that's not what you're here for. When you walk in you'll immediately notice the cases of racks of freshly fried fish and other morsels of golden fried deliciousness that are dripping with greasy goodness. These racks are just a pit stop on the way to your plate. If you can quit starring, directly left is the ordering counter, and it's nothing fancy. As your eyes drift upwards, you'll see a menu with a limited selection of items. They have both full and half orders of fish, clams, shrimp, and scallops and they're all served with a side of "chips." They also have a combination plate, which includes a little of everything, plus two pieces of fish and a side of "chips." This being my first Yorkshire experience, I opted for the combo plate so I could sample everything. After ordering and grabbing a soda, we pulled up a couple chairs to a fairly small table in the corner. The seating area is narrow with enough seating for about 15. Space is limited, so the tables are pretty close together. The friend I was with informed me that most people do take out, which considering the place makes sense to me. The floors and walls aren't exactly spotless but the tables are and that's all I care about. We didn't wait long before our order was called. Upon retrieving the order we were asked if we would like any tartar or cocktail sauce. Well hell yes, I do! The young kid at the counter kindly opened a cooler door behind him and put about 4-5 little paper cups of each on the trays. I imagine they don't keep these sauces out because they don't want people to waste them - they are homemade, after all. On the tables are bottles of ketchup and malt vinegar, which is a must. After sitting back down, I noticed that in addition to some seriously golden fried goodness we each got a cup full of coleslaw. Bonus! I didn't hesitate to dive right in, and it didn't even phase me how scorching hot everything was. Everything was delicious. The shrimp had a good flavor, but could have been a bit bigger. The pieces of fish were very large, flakey and moist. They also had just the right amount of breading -some places can go overboard in this area. The scallops were from a different planet. They were savory and sweet, and you could definitely taste the scallop and not just the breading. Next time I may just order the scallops because 4-5 of them was not enough for me. You don't get anything fancy at Yorkshire, but I don't mind. I came for the fish and chips and that's what I got. Nicely done.

If you get a craving for fish and chips and you want it done right, this is the place to go! It's a small place, you order at the front, select one of 12 tables, and pick up your order when it's ready. Service is fast, and the place is clean What more can you ask for when you need your fish & chips fix?!

My husband and I had a taste for seafood so I decided to pick up dinner. My husband had the combo plate and I also added an extra piece of fish. I ordered the shrimp dinner. The food was fresh and hot. Our food was made fresh to order. The only downfall is there is not enough seasoning in their batter. Other than that I can't think of anything negative to say about the food. Excellent customer service. I'm giving it four stars for the lack of seasoning.

Although the fish was ok....the chips.."fries" were cold. The interior is dim and yellow from fry oil. And I think $10.95 for 2 pieces of fish and ffries is a little steep for this type of resturant. My bill was 13.60 including a drink. I'll go to RRobin next time....better f & c . The best f & c is at Landsdown Arms in Highlands Ranch.....bar-none.

I heard it was great fish and chips, I wasn't really disappointed. Strange restaurant experience and the fish is like big fish sticks but they are good! What do I know? Not a place I'll eat often but if you like fried fish you're in luck!

I've just come from making a pilgrimage to Yorkshire Fish and Chips with a friend who is also from Maine. We agreed the fish, clam strips and scallops were as good as any we'd get at a seafood shack in Maine and the best we've had in Denver by a long shot (except that The Oceanaire Seafood Room is pretty good too). As I told the guys at the counter, "you guys are GOOD!"

5 Product 4 Service 2 Facility 5 Value This place sells very good fish and chips. Other people have complained about the fries, but as far as I am concerned they mean nothing. If I want good fries with a crappy fish sandwich I go to McD's. If I want good fish with ho hum fries I go to Yorkshire. Sure, the place is a bit of a dump. But I noticed that the fryer is new and in good shape, and as many times as I have been there it has always been clean. The service is slow, but that is to be expected when they fry it as you wait. This is a take out place to me, I rarely eat in there, so I don't care about atmosphere. Get the combo if you are not sure. It is a staple for us. Pinky's rating guide: Product (Food, Merchandise, Selection) Service (Timely, helpful, appropriate level of friendliness) Facility (Location/hours/access/parking/atmosphere) Clientele management (crowd control, customers, wait for seating) Value overall (Very subjective - double weighted)

Really good food here, as mentioned the tartar sauce and coleslaw are incredible. It is expensive but only if you order more than you can eat. Last time there we ordered 4 entrees, large coleslaw, large chowder and extra piece of fish and it was $72. Roughly $18 per person. IMO very affordable given the portion sizes and quality of the food. We like the fish but love the scallops, shrimp and oysters. The oysters are the size of eggs and you get 15 scallops. Shrimp are insane good and the fish is two large banana sized pieces. Fries are also good, I dip mine in the vinegar before scooping up some tartar sauce. Sure you could probably eat something crappy at Applebees for less than $18 but why would you? This will make you smile.

This place definately isn't anything fancy, but they have awesome fish n chips!! The place looks a little run down from the outside (basically a hole in the wall type place). It is a local family owned restaurant and have a pretty decent size menu. I just wish they would serve beer or some form of alcohol. But their fish n chips is incredible. At the very bottom of your container are lots of yummy like fried pieces to enjoy when the fish is all gone! They have pretty speedy service too for how busy the place gets.

Good Food. Decent Service. Dirty Restaurant. This place is has very good food, but it is hard to sit and eat when you see greasy residue on everything. Yes, I know they fry everything. They should still be more conscious of the floor and walls and making sure the provide a clean eating area.

I would have never found this place if I hadn't had to use the restroom while driving to Denver. As I was pulling out of the gas station, the Yorkshire Fish & Chips sign caught my eye and I knew I had to try it out. I don't know why people are saying that the decor and atmosphere is grim, the place reminds me of a lot of fish and chip places I've been to in England and Scotland and personally thought the place was quite quaint. It's not 5 star dining but it's definitely not a seedy hole in the wall restaurant either. As you walk in you smell the familiar scent of malt vinegar and frying oil and the menu has great variety (fish and chips, oysters, calm, calamari, fried mushrooms, etc). I ordered the combination plate which came with a piece of fish 5 scallops, some shrimp, and fries, a cup of coleslaw, and a Dr. Pepper. My girlfriend ordered the regular fish and chips. One aspect that I didn't like about the place was you had to pay for the food after it came out. Not that it is a big deal but it would be nice to just wait and pick up your food after you ordered but that point is pretty moot. When we saw the portions of food we were quite surprised. The full order of fish and chips had 2 huge pieces of cod + a heaping portion of fries. My combo plate was an even larger feat. I thought that the fish was pretty good. The fish was flaky and the batter was crisp. It wasn't overly greasy and again the portions were HUGE. I could care less for the scallops, I thought there was a little too much batter for the size but it wasn't too bad. The coleslaw was pretty good and the price of $0.75 you can't beat it. I would say that the fries were mediocre at best. They might have been packaged but I can't be certain. I wish they were more like pub fries/chips but it's not a deal. For the price this place is great. I would definitely go back again. The only thing I wish was it was closer to my house.

The only thing that would make this place better would be if they served beer. Which I tried convincing the employees they should. The kids agreed. The dad/ owner- not so much. Oh, and I was a little bummed there wasn't any salt on the chips, but I think that's because my wife had originally told them no salt, then recanted- they probably didn't hear her. The place is definitely divey, which I don't mind at all. I actually had to talk my wife into trying them out, and she was the one who wanted F&C to begin with! It was worth the effort on my part, considering we now have a new favorite take-out place. I'm convinced that the folks who gave this place a bad review are only used to fish sticks of the Gorton's variety. Their fish is greasy and tasty, the shop a little dreary, everything a chippy should be.

I really am sorry. I know this place is a neighborhood institution and everything, but I don't get it. I was actually excited to eat here, I love fish & chips. But when I got my food I was pretty disappointed. I mean, I know it's fried food, but this was over the top. I got clams, but I couldn't really find any meat in them, just batter. The fish was OK, the fries I could do without. I'm sure I'll go back some day, and maybe it will be better then. If it is I will update my review.

A decent place to grab some fish. Better than other fast food fish places.but it doesn't stand out for fish in the center of a landmass. The interior is like Davy Jones closet. Tartar sauce.

Not bad. A little pricey, but not ridiculous. The fries were not crisp at all, though so major points off, there. Some salt right out of the fryer would have helped the blandness as well. I'll be back at some point, but certainly no rush.

Hell to the yes baby wow I'm fucking impressed this place is amazing and the tartar sauce is all that I will definitely be back

Had the 2 piece fish and chips. I liked the stick style of the fish and the batter was nice and crispy. I like the fish & chips from Baker St. more though.

  • Sami C.

Just a quick FYI. ;)

The food is alright, but for the price, you could go to a nice sit down place and be good to go. I don't know how they are still in business charging so much. Just my opinion.

If you get a craving for fish and chips and you want it done right, this is the place to go! It's a small place, you order at the front, select one of 12 tables, and pick up your order when it's ready. Service is fast, and the place is clean What more can you ask for when you need your fish & chips fix?!

  • Charbella H.

  • L. L.

No regrets.

  • A J.

  • Shawn R.

their cod is pretty good but everything else is average....certainly dont order oysters.....they come out as big as your fist which may sound nice but dont forget youre getting a fried item so you end up with a thin layer of batter and then a couple of inches of cooked oyster

Having lived in England and Ireland, I find this restaurant to offer the most authentic fish and chips for miles. The fish is fresh and made while you wait. This isn't fast food, but it is really good food.

A no frills review for a no frills eatery. Tasty, not-too-greasy fish and shrimp served on a bed of crispy fries and batter leavins. Probably won't make the culture page of the Times, but sometimes simplicity is bliss.

  • Heather M.

  • Adam C.

Good Food. Decent Service. Dirty Restaurant. This place is has very good food, but it is hard to sit and eat when you see greasy residue on everything. Yes, I know they fry everything. They should still be more conscious of the floor and walls and making sure the provide a clean eating area.

    (3)

Returned here after being gone for several years. Food is still excellent. Best fish and chips in Denver. This is a no frills place but is very clean and the people behind the counter are friendly and efficient. If you want a simple place with great food, this is it.

    (4)
  • Mindy G.

Come for the fish and stay for the...well nothing. The fish is the only good thing about this place. I could be talked into going back if I was in the mood for deep fried fish.

Best Fish n Chips in Denver. Period. Yes, I've tried most of the others, at least the better-known ones. Not much in the way of ambience, no beer, it really is a bit of a dive, only the food makes it worth it.
