I drive all the way from Littleton for the best Banh Mi in Denver. Great food, great service worth the drive. There's no comparison to any other place. Period!

Flavorful Grilled Pork Banh Mi for $4! I think I've discovered my new favorite lunch spot. The sandwich is large and flavorful on fresh bread. The pork was also well seasoned. I don't know how my self-will stopped me from trying anything else, but boy did all the baked goods look tempting! I will be back! Note: Although right off a busy intersection, parking is easy in the complex. Only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is that I don't always carry cash on me.

This is my boyfriends favorite Banh Mi. I will agree that their bread -which they sell dirt cheap is some of the best! We took a friend for his first bahn mi sandwich ever, and his mind was blown. He got the BBQ pork, and a chicken one. We both had BBQ pork. I also bought us three egg rolls, awesome! 75 cents each. I don't usually buy friend food sitting out a room temp, but it was lunch time, and there were no ill after affects. The BBQ pork was a little tough, and the sauce a little sweet for me, but still a solid sandwich. I have not had a bad bahn mi yet in Denver. The sweetness could be rectified by ordering extra jalapeños.

Holy Mother of Pearl! Bahn Mi, $4.00. Return of investment....$1,000,000,000.00! Awesome. Period. Iced Vietnamese coffee...BOOM! My picky wife have the pork meatball sammy. She is hooked. Thank you and take a bow. We will see you soon. The force is strong in this place. Oh......And they DO take CC's!

What a treat, finally getting to check this place out. I occasionally have business over on Federal, so I stopped in at a place I've been before in the Far East shopping center (all SE Asian businesses) for lunch buffet, and eagerly made the cross-lot trek to Vinh Xuong - *finally*. :) The important stuff: 1) They do not have a credit/debit card reader and they do not take checks. Bring cash. 2) The cashier is a kindly elderly woman who fortunately DOES speak understandable English and understands your questions if you are a first timer. 3) $10-15 and you will walk out with enough quality delectable baked goods that you'll feel like shrieking that you just won the bakery lottery. The store is fairly small but has people coming in and going out periodically, both casual customers and people who've placed quantity orders. So, here's my "for Dummies" guide to some things you can try here and what to expect: "Yellow pound cake slices with custard swirls" - That's what it looked like, and that's what it tasted like. Cake not overly moist or dry, custard chilled and delicious. You may see a variant that looks like a St. Patrick's Day version of it; I was told it's not mint. $1.75/slice, I think. Chè - see Wikipedia. Seriously, that'll describe it very well. I had the Chè chuoi - made from banana slices, small tapioca balls, tapioca pudding and a few other things I think. If you like boba drinks, you'll probably love this stuff. They have about a dozen different flavors. $1.75/cup. A steal. "Banana bread" - I kid you not, this is a meal for $1.75. I measured: about 5" by 3" x 1.5" - it's a *mammoth* slice. You are hoping it's the moistest, perfectly spiced and sweetened piece of banana bread you've ever had. It's not that :/ - but it's still wonderful. It's...very dense, VERY moist, and it kinda gives you the feeling you are eating a slice of banana bread *dough*. Totally worth getting -- if they have any left when you get there. If you were getting a slice like this in Cherry Creek, you'd expect to pay $7 for it. If they even had something this massive. "Small" (BIG! 4" diameter, 1" thick) or "large" (bump that by 25%) cookie that has a big indent in the middle that looks like it's filled with lemony goodness: You are hoping it's a big, soft, chewy lemon-centered cookie. It's not. It's crunchy and crumbly and no idea what the yellow part is in the middle. This was my sole disappointment going there; but they can't all be winners I guess. It's not bad, but it doesn't kick ass to the level everything else did. 75c for the "small", 1.25 I think for the large. Fresh French-style bread rolls about 8" long: 65c. Kind of a no brainer. I sliced off 2" and ate it -- fragrant, slightly soft, definitely not dried out...bread heaven. I brought the rest to my Mom the next day, because I knew she'd appreciate it. "Some kind of meat-filled taquito" - 75c. Get this. It's OMG good. Fried but only very lightly greasy if at all. I'm getting a whole bag of these next time -- they were sitting in a container on the countertop near the register. "BBQ pork in a dumpling" - I *think* $1.25, but I don't quite remember. It looks exactly like someone cut off 1/3 of a softball -- in dough form. Haven't had it yet but looking to tomorrow for lunch. And finally, the big surprise for me: "sesame bread roll". If there were an evolutionary step between French bread and oil-fried doughnut (not cake but yeast based), it'd be this. It tastes like bread...fried very lightly in what I cannot describe as anything other than doughnut oil. I just had the last bite from a tightly wrapped package in the fridge 3 days after I got it: still good -- but you've *gotta* try it warm. Eyes fluttering in the back of their sockets good. Getting more of these next time, too...65c for a piece of heaven. All told I escaped my first visit with a bagful of delectable baked goods and dairy sweets for a little over $8. Cannot wait to get back in this area and get more awesomeness -- and try their banh mi or char siu - and maybe spring rolls to boot.

Best Ban mi ever! Amazing little bakery with wonderful sandwiches, boba, coffee and fresh baked goods. I try and make it here every couple of weeks and the service is always friendly and prompt. I have had 2 great business meetings in there trendy little seating area without issue. Add some chili oil to that Ban MI and your in for a real treat!

Do not get me wrong, Vinh Xuong Bakery is a total dive. I mean. ..diners drive ins and dives has NOTHING on this place. Bagel Deli (which was on the show, and is in south Denver) looks like a 3 star Michelin compared to this But man - they know how to make bread, some desserts, and -of course - Banh Mi sandwiches. They suddenly upgraded their menu (which shows 6 types of sandwiches). Always ordering here I get the feeling I'm really missing out. Like the locals know of a complex and exciting menu of Vietnamese food stuffs.. . .I just know BANH MI Each Banh Mi is made to order from their fresh bread supply. Fresh produce. Crispy goodness of bread and veggies, and the awesome flavor of pork/meatball/whatever to your taste. . . The taste is bar-none as good as ban mi gets. I have tried a few of their other items (such as some green thing i can't name) and it is all asian awesome. This place is really worth a side trip down south federal. $3.50 for the perfect sandwich. . .will leave you wondering how the f' subway continues to bring in the masses (most likely, the masses are clueless. If they knew this goodness existed. ..subway would be gone) BTW - if you do not want it spicy, ask them to hold the Jalepenos.

We had lunch at the next door, which was not very good, but that's another review. After lunch, I was still a bit hungry. Looking on yelp, there is suppose to be a pretty good Vietnamese bakery that's only few blocks south on Federal. Decided to go there instead, but when I got there, there was several people in line, and I just didn't have the patient. Anyway, decided to go check yelp again and realized there was another Vietnamese bakery shop in the shopping center that we had lunch earlier. As you walk in, this is definitely one of those hole in the wall. it's take out only as there is no table or chair. It's at the very end of this shopping strip. Their bahn mi was $3.50, which was a little more than what I'm used to coming from TX (most here are $3, and some even offer buy 5 get one free deal). Anyway, I ordered a combination, and the bbq pork. I ordered an extra one as i really wanted both of them and can't make up my mind. I had to drive for the next hour to Ft Collins where we were staying @ my sister's house over Thanksgiving week. Had them that afternoon as I was still hungry. In my years of eating bahn mi, this has to be one of the better ones due to it's freshness and abundance of meat. It was very stuffed, and well worth the $3.50. The bread was perfect, and the veges were crunchy and tasty, unlike many of the other places. The combination was definitely a solid hit with 5 stars. The bbq pork was tasty, but it was a bit sweet for my personal taste. Overall, I know where I'll be stopping by for lunch when I'm in Denver the next time. It's well worth if if you're into bahn mi like I am.

I've eaten Banh Mi in many places around the USA, as well as in Hue and Saigon, VN. Spring 2013 it is not unusual to find a good Banh Mi for $3.00 to $3.50 per sandwich in Denver. But there is a difference between good and great and Vinh Xuong Bakery has not only the very best Banh Mi in all of Denver, but it is also the best deal for your money! The Original is very traditional to what you will find on the streets of Hue, once you found that special place where the locals flock. The Grilled Pork is to die for, perfectly marinaded and then grilled just the way it should be. The BBQ Pork is the traditional BBQ pork of VN sliced thickly and pilled on amply. The Grilled Chicken is done just right, marinaded in its own special sauce and grilled to a wonderfulness of its' own. (No, they do not usually have beef.) As many reviewers have mentioned, the baguette is far better than most in Denver. I do not mean for just for Bahn Mi, but for any white bread baguette, this is Denver's best. My father opened the first submarine (Hoagie) shop chain in Central Florida, so I know a little about this. This bakery also sells their baguettes to several fine restaurants in Denver. Each and every sandwich is made to order. This is fresh! Lately they have their own homemade chili garlic sauce in jars on the tables. Be sure to put some of that on your sandwich. I am trying to get Duc to keep a jar at the sandwich board too as soon many people will be asking for it! That's the other thing about the Banh Mi at Vinh Xuong, it is about the knowledge of how to combine the various flavors in such a way that there's a synergy that explodes on the tastebuds. Watch carefully what Duc is doing as he makes his sandwiches and you might learn what one of the special secrets is about their sandwiches over the other places you will find around the USA. Then there is all the other great baked treats made daily there. There's always something different, something new, something seasonal. Be daring and just try something! Many times I will go across the plaza to the Pacific Ocean Supermarket and buy some fresh basil to add to my Banh Mi and I always ask them to load up on the cilantro. (Basil is not traditionally put on Bahn Mi, but I have been doing it that way since I've had the option many years ago.) Though I have been tempted for as many times I've been there to buy one of their homemade drinks be it a Cafe Sua Da, Boba or Smoothies, I've not gotten anything drink wise yet. At times you might even find a special treat like Vietnamese styled curried goat (with coconut), which they have this weekend (April 6th)! You never know until you go there, or keep up with their Facebook page: facebook.com/vinhxuongba…

The combination meat sandwich here is incredible and at less than $3.00 (they used to be $2.00 and I think they're now $2.25) is the best deal around (and that's saying a lot considering all of the food in this neighborhood). They've even got a couple of Best of Westword plaques on the wall for their sandwiches. When you order a sandwich it's gonna have a combination of meats, usually pate', ham, turkey, (although the last time we were in the sandwich had char siu, a salami, and no pate') with pickled radish and carrot, cilantro, sliced fresh jalapeno, and mayo inside a great crusty french roll and they'll usually throw a packet of soy and hot sauce in your bag too. The owner knows what I usually order and will usually ask me, "how many?" as I walk in the door. Intricately patterned moon cakes, agar, taro, and tapioca flour gelatin slabs (colorfully patterned kind of like the "knox-blocks" that are made with Jello. We like the brown and cream colored coconut flavored slabs) , monster and regular almond cookies, refrigerated "che" desserts in plastic cups, are just some of the delectable items in this little shop. The location on Alameda and Zuni is where they do the baking and doesn't sell all the items available here (no sandwiches but a few baked and dessert items). Their french rolls are some of the best in town and are cheap too so if you're planning to make a great sandwich yourself, here's a great start.

I had a great experience there today and thought I'd "pay it forward" by actually writing a review, which I never do. I have only ever been to the other location (off Alameda) and thought I'd check this one out as it was slightly closer to where I was coming from. I go in, was greeted by the lady there, ordered, and wandered around looking at the other goodies while waiting. During this time 2 young gentlemen came in (which will matter in a few moments). Only when my sandwich was ready and I went up to the register to pay did I see it: no credit cards. And of course I had just completely run out of cash a few days ago - not even a dollar on me! She told me I could take the food to the other location (which accepts CCs) and pay there, or I could pay her next time. Talk about trust in strangers! As I only had a few minutes left on my lunch break I told her I promised I would come back and pay, and to please write it down on the business card she was handing me. At this time one of the young men next to me threw down the cash payment for me! So not just one, but 2 very kind folks in that store today. Small gestures to remind us maybe people aren't so bad after all. And of course, the sandwich was delicious as always. It's about a dollar more than most other banh mi places you would find, but it's also almost twice and big and definitely better tasting than others I've had. Still dirt cheap and totally worth it. I highly recommend either location as they not only have great food, but clearly awesome people working - and dining - there.

I can't comment on anything you can purchase at Vihn Xuong Bakery except for their pineapple custard buns. They're sublime and a set of 4 fits wonderfully into a to-go box. I then practice absolutely no self restraint and eat them all over the course of the next 24 hours. Moderation be damned.

I'm not an expert in bahn mi sandwiches, but this place has an amazing peoduct. Almost everything is made in house and the sandwich bread is amazing! Many latinos go there specifically for the bread to use to make tortas! For me nothing beats the pork bahn mi. It is a must try and most everything in the bakery is priced around $5.

Place was extra sketch and I don't think it would pass a public health inspection but the Bahn Mi sandwich was bomb! The sandwiches are $4 now instead of $3.50 but its worth it. I do however like the S&K Bahn Mi truck better for a dollar more because I see him make the Bahn Mi in front of me.

The banh mi is as good as they come! I got the BBQ pork banh mi and 2 BBQ pork steam buns for $7. I'm so happy I found a yummy bakery, definitely will be back to try the other baked goods and ice coffee during the summer.

Wow! I have been to Vinh Xuong Bakery before for the Bahn Mi and the desserts but today I was in at opening and was having a pretty bad day. I ordered the roast pork bahn mi and the coconut smoothie to go I was still on hold waiting to speak to Motor vehicle in another state (painfull) My order was prepared and I went to the register to pay and the young man behind the counter said "I would like to buy you lunch today its only 10:15 and it seems you are having a bad day and would like to help" Very observant, thoughtful and understanding. Great food, Great bakery items and dessert and gracious staff!!! All around the best experience and value. Thank you! B

Just the mere thought of a sandwich from Vinh Xuong Bakery brings on a craving that is a little unsettling, so it's truly difficult to write this review. Could it be that I've found the best sandwich I've ever eaten? It sure could be. Vinh Xuong Bakery has much more than just sandwiches and I've sampled a few of the other items like the baked goods, spring rolls, and beef jerky. It's all very delicious and fresh, but this review is mainly about the banh mi. I've tried other banh mi sandwiches around town and they've all been very, very good, but there's something different about this spot that I can't quite put my finger on. It has something in the flavor department that I just miss at other places. There are three types of the sandwiches on the menu and I've had all of them, but I keep going back for one in particular. The marinated pork banh mi is the bomb! Fresh and made on the spot this sandwich has it all. It's sweet, spicy, bitter, sour, salty and umami, it's outrageous. The perfect baguette, pickled veggies, marinated pork, salted mayo, and fresh herbs really marry and put it over the top. The place is small and usually a little busy, so while you wait have a look at all the things they have. If you don't know what it is, ask them, they'll be happy to tell you. You are bound to find something else to try and the prices here are great. I went the other day and got two large sandwiches, four fresh spring rolls, and two cans of soda for $10.25. That's crazy cheap and worth more than every penny. I urge you to visit this little spot; you will not be disappointed. Remember to bring cash or check because that's all they accept.

This was my first authentic Bahn mi. I ordered the original, it came on a nice soft baguette a huge piece of cucumber with the pickled veggies. I guess I'm not into the meat. I ate the veggie salad on top and went on to my tapioca. He got the pork, which he liked quite a bit, his top Bahn mi. I thought the pork in his was too sweet. We also got a few egg rolls which were pretty good and I got the sweet potato and taro tapioca pudding. The egg rolls were really good and the pudding was pretty tasty. I would like to try a sesame ball and almond cookie next time. And cash only.

  • Sara S.

The bahn mi was delicious however I forever compare them to a Vietnamese bakery in Chicago called Nhu Lan. The bread was good, the vegetables and herbs fresh. I didn't like the chicken (skin still on and bug chinks), but the pork meatballs were very good. Can't beat the price. I'd go back when I'm in town again.

Fellow Yelper Fia R and I were in the area when we discovered this banh mi specialist on the Yelp app. The large counter was packed full of fried bread, moon cakes, and a mix of sweets and treats. The banh mi menu was written on the mirror facing the refrigerator, and the box-filled antiquated décor and lack of seating made it a pure hole in the wall. They bake baguettes on site and foot traffic seemed slow but steady during the lunch hour. I got the Original Banh Mi ($2.75) that came with a huge fresh and warm toasted baguette filled with Vietnamese BBQ pork, ham, headcheese, pickled daikon and carrots, cucumber, cilantro, jalapeno, pate, butter spread, and salt and pepper. The baguette was truly outstanding with crisp, crunchy and soft textures in all the right places. The baguettes from other fast food places usually cut into my mouth but in this case the textures were excellent and easy to bite into. The pate was discernible and so was the fresh jalapeno and cucumber that came with a nice crunch on each bite. I wished there were more meat, cilantro, and pickled daikon and carrots, but the giant torpedo-like sub more than made up for it. Retrospectively, I've had better taste-wise, but the sheer size and freshness made the experience superb. Service seemed understaffed as the sandwiches took some time to arrive. Otherwise, the over the counter exchange was straight forward and responsive. I would definitely consider coming back. 3.5 stars for the overall experience.

The #1 food thing on my list of things to find after moving to Denver was an acceptable banh mi. I've found it and it is here. The banh mi thit nuong can hold its own with any of the good places in Seattle, and it's still only $3. I haven't bought anything else here, but that alone is enough to warrant a five-star review from me. As others have noted, this place is pretty authentic. Bring cash, and go somewhere else if you're a hypochondriac.

It's been a year and this place is still as INCREDIBLY as ever. I've had so much history here, like seriously. My mom ate this as a little girl and so did I! What to get (I don't know the actual names of some of the items, sorry!) Combination Banh Mi: SO GOOD. A nice crispy crunchy butter baguette smeared with this decadent pate and topped with a nice variety of meat. I love everything about it! SO GOOD. Meatball in Puff Pastry: (it looks like the ice cream part of a cartoon version of an ice cream cone. You know, the perfect dome scoop) this stuff is so insanely good. a huge meatball inside buttery flakey puff pastry! SO GOOD! I always leave the puff pastry last since it's THE BEST PART. Green Jello with Mung Bean: (it's obviously green jello with stripes of mung bean) This stuff is seriously like crack to me. I love to eat it strip by strip, or when I'm lazy I shove it in my face. haha White Sponge Cake Thing: I honestly don't know how to describe the flavor, but it's sweet and like a really spongey sponge cake. It's honestly quite bouncy and you should try it. I love it! I miss this place dearly, and I hope you love it as much as I do!!

Came by here because just had dim sum from Super Star across the parking lot. We ordered 13 cafe sua da drinks or Vietnamese iced Coffees and it wasn't bad. I wouldn't say its better then CSD from Lees Sandwich in CA or TX but it was respectable.

Only ever had the bahn mi sandwiches here. My favorite is the pork. One of the best I have had and at by far the best price. They seem to be cash only and have a bunch of other baked and chilled goods that look great. I will keep coming back.

This place has amazing food that's really affordable. $3.00 sandwiches are to die for. Boba has real fruit. We go at least once a week. The inside is very clean, and the owner is friendly, which can be uncommon in this area. My husband said his Americano was a bit watered down, but still better coffee than you can get in this area. Just go once, and you'll be hooked!

  • T P.

Really nice and chic inside and all the bahn mi you could ask for. They also have a lot of different drinks to pick from; the iced coffee is yummy. My only negative is that the guy at the counter, (who I think is the owner), was a little snooty.

Oooh, when that Banh Mi craving hits... Watch Out. I'm a fan of a few places nearby: Ba Le, Baker's Palace, and now Vinh Xuong. I like their bread the best of the bunch. They have some good desserts, too. The rice-cakey, gelatinous kinds. Not having a crazy sweet tooth, their subtle sweetness calls to me. The Banh Mi definitely hits the spot. I'm a sucker for a Combo: Pate, Pork, Pork, Pork, Head Cheese, and Pork. With the Pickled Veggies, Jalapenos, and in this case, a schmear of mayonnaise, too. Noms.

So Vinh Xuong and I - heck, we're friends now- "Vinny" and I, kind of had a difficult start at first. When I first was discovering the wonderful area of Little Vietnam, I stopped in to see Vinny for the first time. I walked around, mouth agape, filling up a bag with baguettes, (3 for $1.25), a loaf of sweet, pillowy raisin-bread, (around $2-3), etc., only to get to the counter, and realize that Vinny is a cash-only establishment. Well, shoot. I turned around, dejected, hungry, and bread-less. Well, not for long.First time I was in the area with cash in hand, I waltzed right in. BBQ pork bun, (amazing!), tapioca pudding, (too set for me), and aforementioned raisin bread, (heavenly, pull-apart wonder). I walk up to the register, plunk down my items, and learn that I am $.75 over. I groan. "It's ok," says the owner, "you just give me $.75 extra next time." I'm pretty sure my mouth fell open onto the counter. What? You're going to let me just owe you? Is it 1950? I agree, I thank her profusely, I leave. The goods are, well, great. So great that I returned shortly thereafter. After all, I owned Vinny $.75. Again, I go in, delighted. This time I choose 3 baguettes, one box of ginger, banana nut caramels, (nice and chewy!), and my favorite, the fried sesame ball. The owner rings me up, without breaking her conversation with a friend, and I try to get a word in edgewise to say "um...I owe you 75 cents..". I manage to eek out the words, and she says "Oh....really?" and without hesitating, charges me 75 cents extra. My conscious is assuaged, and I head out the door. The sesame ball is a little different from the Japanese variety I've had before, which has no filling. This one had what I can only describe as a sweet egg yolk inside, and was much more dense and chewy. Wonderful sesame flavor with a mild sweet filling. Now that Vinny and I are all squared up, I will definitely keep going. Great place with intriguing items of all kinds. Next visit I will have to get a bahn mi!

Pure happiness is all I can say when I bit into my banh mi. The older lady behind the counter was a little surprised at my request of a banh mi with just cha (I call it the Vietnamese bologna), but she obliged and made me the happiest little Vietnamese girl EVER. When I get a little hankering for a banh mi, I will definitely be heading over here.

Oh My goodness it was almost orgasmic. The way the meats worked well with the vegetables. And the bread. I will definitely be back and il add the meat filled pastries to my order next time. Yummly

When I was young and beautiful, I lived in Seattle. There was a grocery store that sold Bahn Mi sammies for a dollar, if I remember right. We lived on those things. We developed a taste for the pate, the headcheese, the jalapeno, the soy/hotsauce dripping down our arms. For a dollar, we were well-fed. All the food groups! For a long time, I couldn't find the same taste combo. Something was just not right in every one I tried............. But, gratefully, this place has the best Bahn Mi in the city. Absolutely perfect. Just don't try to eat them in your car, because the baguette is so fresh, you will end up with a lap, seat, and floor-board full of crumbs. Trust me on this one, because I've succumbed to the temptation more than once. I'm not really sorry about it, but you've been warned. It's tiny and you have to brave "Denver's Most Dangerous Parking Lot" (as hubby calls it) to get there, but the people that run it are absolutely the nicest, sweetest people in the world. Their cases and fridges are full of yummy goodness. Whatever they are bringing out from the back, fresh----JUST BUY IT. I ordered a dozen of their absofab croissant for my Easter morning Egg hunt, and most places would ask for a credit card or whatever, for a special order like that. But not dear lady Grandma. She just made me promise on my honor that I would pick them up, (my order is for late in the day, the day before Easter); because she can't sell them the next day........they will be TOO OLD!!! I love this place with all my heart. XOXOXO

We had to stop in one night after dinner, just to take a peek for later, and ended up with a treat: The giant almond cookie was heavenly! Great texture, like a crunchy meringue, and so big I couldn't finish it within three days (at which point the remainders fell out of my purse, tragedy!). Oh, and it cost a buck! I can't wait to get back and try some of their bread, and to have my first Bahn mi!

OK, so I saw all the reviews for this place and was prepared to get blown away with amazingness, but when the boyfriend asked for the green jelly mung bean dessert the lady behind the counter picked up the packaged good and smelled it. Yes, literally smelled it IN FRONT OF US! I looked around some more and saw that some of their pre-packaged desserts did not look so fresh. So just be careful to carefully inspect your food. But other than that, it was good. haha. We also got something called "che" which is a sweet coconut milk pudding type dessert which was pretty good.

4 stars because they were out of pork....but they WELL made up for it with the delicious meatball banh mi. Words cannot describe the perfection of their bread. Crisp crust shell over soft toothsome center filled with the perfect balance of meat and pickled veg. The jalapeño was a little heavy so I had to pull a few strips out, but otherwise heavenly. I was given a few packets of soy sauce with my banh mi, but I didn't even need it. I went for lunch and couldn't stop thinking about it, so I drove all the way across town for another one for dinner. For only $3 this might be my new favorite meal. Cash only.

Been going here since I was a kid so this place is quite special. When I'm craving Banh Mi I come here. Otherwise if I'm here I usually pick up a dozen baguettes along with a couple of sweets. Everything is always looking fresh and tasty.

Their banh mi is awesome! The price is exact as well and you can ask it to be toasted! Another awesome deal is the french bread as well! I can't give you exact numbers, but just know that the sandwiches I believe are under 3 bucks and then you can buy french bread and get a really great deal under 5 bucks as well. I love all of the wonderful cupped desserts they have in the fridge and that they make everything that day. I'm a huge fan of vietnamese desserts overall, but they do it well without breaking my baller budget. HA! I've been coming here pretty much all my life and I always go back.

Banh Mi sandwiches are great, and the Vietnamese coffee is great, especially iced. Clean, nice place, friendly staff.

I'm a big fan of the Far East Center, and have been for awhile, so it may come as a surprise that the first time I ventured into Vinh Xuong was just yesterday! Fresh off a trip to Little Saigon (see my review), I decided that it was finally time to give it a shot. It was near-closing time, so many of the shelves were picked over, but there were still enough tempting treats behind the glass cases to make it worthwhile. Most of them didn't have signs explaining what they were, but the guy behind the counter spoke perfect English and was 1000-degrees of pure helpfulness. He patiently explained what each item was, what was in it, and-- when I asked what HIS faves were-- was more than happy to make suggestions. I left with a yellow bean paste-filled bun-like thingie that had the red Vinh Xuong signature stamp printed across its top. So pretty I almost didn't want to eat it! But I did. And it was goooooood. One thing I really love about many Asian treats is that they're not sickly-sweet the way most American desserts are. If you go in there expecting a rich and decadent chocolaty experience, you're missing the point. You won't find anything like that in Vinh Xuong. What you WILL find, however, is some deeply different deliciousness the likes of which you may not have ever experienced before! I can't wait to go back to try the Banh Mi Sandwich!

I popped into this tiny, crowded bakery to try the much recommended Banh Mi sandwich. I was quickly distracted by all the cold desserts; the tapioca with mung bean, and other assorted tapiocas with other stuff i'm not familiar with but love to eat. I was tempted by the containers of pickled daikon and carrots, but held off in fear of spilling the vinegary mixture on my long ride home. The "menu" only offered 2 kinds, Original with bbq pork, and head cheese, or Meatball. I finally ordered the original sandwich, fearing the old lady might not understand, I tentatively asked, "pate?" . "Yah, whatever you want" She disappeared into the back room and returned so quickly I thought there was no way it was made fresh. Now, I eat some crazy stuff, but head cheese is something I've been trying to avoid, and I'm not sure I'm going to look it up to find out what I ingested for lunch..... I unabashedly dug into my sandwich in backed up traffic along Alameda. There was big whopper slice of Jalapeno that gave my lips a nice burn. But boy was it good. I'm sure the neighboring drivers enjoyed seeing me savor the pig in my sammy. I bet they were jealous! It turns out the sandwich had all the mentioned and pork roll and pate. It was MIGHTY GOOD! The tapioca and mung bean was a nice refreshing dessert too as I navigated the construction on the way home.

The best and most delicious sandwich in the galaxy. Period. Try the grilled pork with avocado. The bread is just ridiculously fresh and tasty. Make sure you try their limited edition spring rolls with peanut sauce. If you eat tortas in Denver, you're probably eating the bread they baked in house here. I'm such a big fan, I drove from San Antonio just to have the cheapest best sandwich in Denver. Kudos to the team.

Yelpers should know location 2 does accept credit cards, not sure about store 1. A previous review mentioned no cards, I was there 08/27 and used VISA. Really good sandwiches. Corn Tapioca was awesome. Will definitely be my go to place from here out. For $21 I walked out with 3 sandwiches, 2 moon pies, and corn tapioca. A killer deal!.

If I lived close to the Far East Center, I'd go to Vinh Xuong for all of my meals. I remember going to Vinh Xuong as a kid, walking in with my parents or siblings to buy deep-fried sesame dough-balls filled with sweet mung bean paste or cat's ear cookies. In my adulthood, I keep going there for the sweets (including the frightening array of Vietnamese puddings like coconut and banana), as well as the Vietnamese steamed rice buns and Banh Mi Thit (Notice how I put "Thit" at the end of that, how one should truly identify a Vietnamese Hoagie with pork.) The food is freakin' good, it reminds me of home and my childhood--it really doesn't get any better than that. Now, given that I can speak Vietnamese, the service is for me is great. I'm not sure that others, like my white husband, could easily order items from the elder ladies behind the counter. But they've always been nice and pleasant to me. And the PRICE! Fantastic! They should charge more! I can get lunch for me and my husband--Sandwiches, buns, drinks *and* dessert--for under $10. Every single time. If I could list one con, and I'm really going out on a limb here, the place doesn't accept plastic. Boo. But, you can write them a check if you're short on cash. Just, please, don't stiff this family-run operation!

Honestly, I'm writing this to save you from a terrible sandwich. I'm sure there are other items and baked goods that are great, just don't get the sandwich. We went solely because of some reviews we saw here on yelp and were severely disappointed. We each only took one bite of our sandwiches (and this is NOT normal for either myself or my boyfriend) and threw the rest away. The woman behind the counter was very friendly and I wanted to like it so bad. The idea of cilantro, cucumber, jalapenos on a sandwich is just the kind of thing I would love. But in reality, there is a thin piece of mystery meat with a half inch gelatenous border, some wierd pate-like spread, and some sparse veg. I would stay away from the sandwich! Oh, and they do not accept credit cards.

I swear my hand to the universe, I think there is a Vietnamese person inside of me trying to get out. Oh sweet lord - this is a little gem tucked into the southwestern corner of the Far East Center. This is a family owned bakery making sweets and savories with recipes they brought with them from Vietnam. Three mini loaves of the best French bread I have tasted outside of Paris for $1.25. Skip that crap at the supermarkets and grab three of these for the same price. Try the homemade Banh mi - they cure their own meats, grow the veggies in the summer, mix their own carrot/daikon mix and of course, make the bread. The BBQ steamed pork buns, holy smokes. I had one bite and was transported back to the Hawaii of my youth. I almost cried. I can't leave without a few in my bag. Seriously, this is the sort of bakery that makes the world a better place. Stop next door and you can grab a whole roasted fowl to go with the bread - you will score some serious points with whomever you are feeding!

Meh. So, after my trip to Bakers Palace I decided to try a new place this time and compare Banh Mi. The woman at the counter at Vinh Xuong was very helpful. I ordered the combination and my friends got BBQ pork only. The sandwich was just OK. The bread was good, but the meat was bland and the sandwich had little flavor and was rather dry. The best part of the adventure was coming out of the joint with 3 rolls of that amazing bread for only $1.25. I'm sure that they will make a mean cheesesteak tonight.

Who is craving some Banh MI? I love this little bakery much better then some the larger ones found in POM's and Hmarts in the area, very fast service and very friendly, A large variety of warm and cold desserts amongst other Delicious snacks "Westword" even gave them "the best little bakery in Denver" award many times

Hands down the best Vietnamese sandwhiches I've had (and I've had plenty). They're at the gourmet level and very addictive. Their desserts are also great - not very sweet, healthy. Very excited about this little find - check it out!

Had the bahn mi, terrific. Cheap, fresh, very tasty! Excellent baguette, fillings great. And to the previous (1 star) reviewer who sought to save us from this "terrible sandwich" due to its "mystery meat" and "pate-like" spread: well, that's what is on a traditional bahn mi. Kind of like giving a sushi place a 1 star review because: "I just wanted to warn you: the seafood they serve is mostly uncooked and cold"

THANKS again yelpers for giving me the lowdown on another place that I was too lazy to find myself! Well, it is hidden in the corner of the shopping center on the SW corner of Federal/Alameda. For under $5, I walked out with: - 1 cup of tapioca, taro, yam custard che Vietnamese dessert, similar to Chinese tong shui or "dessert soups" - 1 coffee cake roll with custard filling - 2 small street-food quality pork spring rolls - 2 large fried doughsticks I was really excited to find these decent doughsticks, which are like a cross between a french fry and a big crueller or churro. It's savory, just fried dough, and full of little tasty air pockets. I haven't had these more than a handful of times since over 30 years ago, when my parents would buy them in Manhattan's Chinatown! Not bad snacking on right from the bakery, after they've been sitting around, but for a real treat, toast them when you get home to crispy - oh man, damn good. Next time I have to dip them into warm soymilk like old times! Oh, and did I mention they're REALLY healthy and good for you? Ha, esp. if you're doing a low-carb diet ;) Everything else I bought was pretty good too; the che was a little heavy for my tastes, I'll try a lighter tapioca next time. Doug below gave a great rundown of all the other stuff they have in the bakery. I need to try the banh mi and update my review. The kinda disheveled looks of the place does make me wonder about health inspections (you don't want to look at anything TOO closely), but it looks like they've got a clean bill of health from the Denver Inspection Dept. and nothing we ate made us sick! However, we still weren't brave enough to try the Vietnamese spring rolls with shrimp (cheap & looked good) sitting out in the 85 degree store...maybe in the winter. They'll be seeing me A LOT!

For those of you that don't know, Vinh Xuong is the bomb. Seriously badass. Whether you are looking for a nice variety of moon cakes, bánh rau câu, custard, or just something green and jiggly, Vinh Xuong is your spot. They also have a big bin of baguettes that are baked fresh daily. But here is the best kept secret - they have fantastic banh mi and it is possibly the best in town. There is no menu listed or any hints that they serve it, you just have to ask. The combination banh mi here is out of sight.

My son just brought lunch home, so I must write a review. We've been going to this little bakery for years. It's crammed with an incredible variety of baked and non-baked goodies. Huge baskets of baguettes catch your eye. The cooler case offers a great variety of gelatinous desserts bearing various fruit and sweetened beans, all neatly labelled. On the counter is often another kind of dessert layering a chewy green gelatin with lighter green sweet bean paste. Not terribly sweet, it offers interesting contrasts in texture unusual to the Western tongue; this is a treat that I've grown to love. There are fried sesame balls, again filled with sweetened bean paste; turnovers or puff pastry cakes filled with chopped pork in a sweet barbecue sauce or with a sausage-like mixture; spring rolls; delectable egg rolls, two for a dollar; you never know what you'll have to choose from when you enter. In the display cases you'll find moon cakes and many other delicacies whose names I do not know. The variety is astounding for such a small space. But the thing you won't see on display is perhaps the very best thing to order here: a banh mi sandwich, made fresh on the spot out of one of those wonderful baguettes and filled with meats, veggies, and fresh jalapeno. The total effect is a flavor explosion that makes you wonder how Subway manages to stay in business, especially when this competitor's prices are so incredibly low in comparison. Just ask for a sandwich or sub, and enjoy. Fantastic! (Hint: Don't look inside; you'll probably see an item or two that will make you suspect you won't like this or that part of the whole. The total effect is great though, so don't worry about the individual items and just ENJOY.) There is another outlet of this great store at 2200 West Alameda. I'm told it's larger and is the actual bakery.
