Diabetics at Village Inn

Village Inn is a tough place for diabetics, and you must be extra cautious while ordering food at the Village Inn, especially if you're a diabetic. The food items low in sodium are high in sugar or cholesterol at Village Inn which makes it difficult for diabetics to choose the right food at the diner.

Foods to Avoid at Village Inn for Diabetics

Village Inn offers very few items edible for diabetics without any threat. You can avoid sandwiches and burgers at Village Inn and try the light breakfast items on the menu. You must also skip the shakes as well as other juices from the beverage menu. Almost all the dinner items on the menu are high in sodium except Grilled Tilapia and 6 oz. Top Sirloin & Toast. Avoid Soup bowls and opt for cups instead at Village Inn.

We go here once in a while for a quick, inexpensive breakfast. Usually it isn't vey busy and isn't bad. Today when we went, the parking lot was full and when we walked in, the place was packed. Not only did we get sat right away, the overall service was outstanding and the food was very well prepared and tasty. The manager went to every table to ensure the customers were happy, and the experience was way above and beyond what someone might expect from a Village Inn.

Worst service I have ever had. Sat ignored for 10 minutes after being seated. Went and found the manager, she took our order. The waitress brought our drinks, apologized and swore the service would be "all uphill from here". Came back with our food, which was very good, and then never came back to check on us or offer a refill on beverages. Thanks Trish for reminding me why I don't Village Inn.

#VillageInn This location always seems understaffed. We come for the Friday Fish Fry at 5pm. But the fish is never ready at 5, more like 520-530pm. Free pie Wednesday is good. But they were out of coconut cream! There is always a wait from seating to beverages to getting the order in to drink refills to cashing out. I am a patient person. So the service doesn't bother me at the time. Until I reminisce and write the reviews. The most glaring aspect to this location: the excruciatingly slow understaffed service. I have been sitting on this review for at least 3 visits, hoping that the service would miraculously change. I believe it has gotten worse. Bummer. Our Mohawked waiter was the best part of the meal. He was awesome and made the review two stars instead of one. He was seemingly the only waiter working in the whole place while managers stood around. He worked hard trying to appease the other impatient patrons. I was pleasant and offered him kudos. Last resort should be the VI. Avoid if you can. You'll be glad you did.

Okay, let me justify why I'm giving a diner 5 stars. Part of it is nostalgia. My grandfather loved this place and I spent a lot of time in my childhood with him here. Now why I love this place as an adult, first off the Apple Pie. If you are in need of one for an occasion check them out, for $8 you can get a fresh baked amazing pie. My sister and I love to catch up over their apple pie ala mode. The second reason is their skillets. I absolutely love skillets. I sometimes get major cravings for their south western skillet with green chili. I live in California now so only get this when I visit Colorado. There is something sad about not having ready access to pork green chili! Add in breakfast potatoes, cheese, peppers, chicken, onions, eggs and salsa and you have a perfect breakfast. If you want diner food that won't turn your stomach, a friendly down to earth place to eat and nice staff, you can't go wrong! How I miss this place being so far away!

Waited 45 minutes for our meal. We never got it. Watched several other tables complain about poor service too. The server did not care, the manager did not care either. There are lots of other choices in the area. Do not go here!

Tried the Chicken Pot Pie, instead of my usual Cobb Salad, and was pleasantly surprised. Crusty was good; filling had many chunks of chicken on a creamy sauce. I would definitely get it again.

NEVER ORDER A PIE FROM THEM! We ordered a pie to be picked up today for my daughter's birthday. When we went to pick it up they forgot to make it. AND we placed the order with the manager!! Not a great place to advertise ordering pies from!!!

I'm so disappointed! My son wanted breakfast for dinner more than anything and I happily suggested we go to village inn. We stood at the front for literally 10 minutes without so much as a look in our direction. Staff walked past us like we were invisible. So we went down the street to IHOP.

Get your Thanksgiving pies here. Yummy!!! We got the pecan pie and pumpkin pie and they were absolutely delicious!! Always come here on Wednesday for the free pie (you can just buy a cup of coffee). Service is always fast, friendly and efficient!!

I've eaten at many a Village Inn, but I was particularly pleased with my customer service at this location. I've gotten the run around a few times before about substitutions and such, but my server was awesome - I told him what I wanted and he made it happen. He specifically asked the cooks not to put the sausage patties in my biscuits and when they accidentally did, I didn't mind, I just took them out - but he noticed and apologized, offering me a free piece of pie to make up for it! I'll certainly be back for future breakfast feasts here!

After a rather poor experience here a few weeks ago, I decided to give them another go. I am glad I did, the service and speed of the kitchen were markedly improved. Though, the kitchen produces decent enough food, but not quite as good as locations I have patronized elsewhere. I feel special mention should be made of my quite friendly and responsive waitress/server Cassi.

I wish I could leave separate ratings for staff and food. I'd leave a 4 for staff and maybe a 2 for food. The restaurant itself is clean and fairly quiet, but that's where the good stuff stops. All I can say is, wow... not in a good way. We stopped in here on our way home tonight. The hostess (also the assistant manager) was very sweet and sat us right away, bringing our drinks pretty quickly. It took a few minutes for our server to arrive at the table, but he was honest about their lack of gluten-free options. I'd read online that they had a few decent ones, but apparently not on the late-night menu. Given that it was 10:30PM at night, who was I to complain? I decided to order the nachos, sans the red or green chile (thickened with flour), as it sounded pretty good. It offered up shredded cheese, beans and chopped veggies. My husband ordered the Cobb Salad. Both came and it was painfully obvious that the "cheese" was anything but. It was the whey-chemical emulsion one pumps onto stale chips in a gas station food mart. Seriously. This was ladled over some pretty loose refried beans and sprinkled liberally with onions. I guess that was the "veggie". I couldn't stomach it, so my husband took one for the team and traded me. Our server came back by and I told him that I thought the nachos were leaving something to be desired. He did offer to bring me something else, but I figured we could just power through it. It was a chore for my poor, sweet husband to get through part of them. I rarely see him leave over a half a plate of food, but he did in this case. When we got up to the front with our ticket, the assistant manager was great and did take the nachos off the bill, acknowledging that the squirty cheese was not the best. I felt pretty bad for the staff, as it seemed at every turn and at every table, they were trying to make amends for the quality of food, apologizing for the kitchen being out of stuff, etc., etc. I doubt we'll be back.

Food is good. Service is consistently bad. I went this morning at 9:30 am, so not the rush time, and had to walk around to find someone to take my order, and then when I was done I had to walk around to get someone to take my money. It looked like there were plenty of people working but they were mostly talking to each other or texting. I consistently have bad service at all Village Inn restaurants, the only one I have ever experienced good service is at the one in Castle Rock. This one was yet another disappointment. There is one right around the corner from me at Hampden Ave but their service is also terrible. Why can't this chain figure out how to get their customer service right?

I have been to this Village Inn many times and unfortunately this time was the worst. We came with a larger group (9) and waited over 40 minutes to get seated. We then ordered drinks and waited for another 20 minutes to get them. We then waited for another 10 minutes to order. We have been wiring a telly long time to get refills. I was very disappointed in the service today.

On my last day of work at a job I didn't like, I ordered a heaping plate of French toast with all of the bells and whistles. I'm talking strawberries, whipped cream, and syrup. The plate was so huge, it had the people at the next table turning their heads to take a look! The food was hot and fresh with soft and sweet strawberries and light and fluffy whipped cream. I couldn't have asked for a more delectable breakfast-for-dinner dining option. The waiter was also very nice, and only snickered a little when I ordered a slice of their chocolate truffle pie to follow up my already extravagant expenditure. My only disappointment was that the sliver of pie I decided to save for later melted in my car despite the late-night snow fall. Silly me for letting something as special expertly crafted chocolate mousse go to waste!

I went there to get something to eat. I was waiting on my new computer that I got from Best Buy as they were down loading the new software on it. They still have the bottomless coffee, I ordered the country steak skillet it was OK. A little over priced.

It was sometime ago but I swear I won't ever be back to this Village Inn ever. This is seriously a true story. Brought my Mom in for breakfast one day and I decided to have an omelet with biscuits and gravy. The biscuit was as hard as a rock (literally) and when I asked the waitress about it all she could say was that they were made fresh that day, etc. She took off with my plate and fork and then brought me back another and just basically tossed it back on the table to me but failed to bring my fork back. I hunted all over the place for another fork and finally had to go up to the cashier and get one from them. I go back to my table and as God is my witness the 2nd biscuit was even harder. When we paid the bill they didn't want to cut me any slack at all on the bill. They expected me to pay for it even though I could not eat it. Really rude. Service can't be that poor for everyone but that was my experience. Old Chicago down the street from them has bar none the very best customer service you could ever hope to find anywhere. If they even remotely goof your meal up they refuse to let you pay for it. This Village Inn sucks big time!

I really enjoyed this place. It's pretty much a Denny's if you know what that's like. The waiter was very fast and nice. The manager also walked around to ensure your meal was great. The amount of food me and my wife got for the price could not be beat. The place was really clean and friendly as well. Definitely a nice spot to take a group of ppl for breakfast.

After the 4th of July fireworks at Coors Field and navigating the car packed streets of LODO, we decided stop in at the V.I. for some coffee and pie. Coffee = Meh! Pies = Sweet Delightful Sins - in short: SDS's who visit my dreams frequently. Here's the kicker: It's been a very long time since I have set foot in one of these places. This one was like walking into 1965 on Steroids. The mod decor in here is everywhere. It is sick!!! The remodel is from a year ago. If you want to see something really cool - just go in. You will not be disappointed. The service was unusually good as well. While we were scoping out the SDS's up front, the manager let my wife and I taste one of the pies before we even ordered. The servers were not the scary goth-type employees whose friends are haning out two booths down from you and making a fool of themselves. I was really impressed for the late-night visit around midnight. WOW.

I have been here a bunch with our car club. They are relatively slow with a large group, but we don't care. Half the time the food isn't quite right or warm. The waitress is always friendly. I wouldn't even give it three stars. It's just barely ok.

  • Rebecca M.

My 5 stars are based on a comparison of this Village Inn (oh wait, it's VI now) to others I have been to. I love the new decor, it makes the place feel much more comfortable and cozy. My sister and her gentleman friend visited this summer and they stayed right near this Village Inn. So, with us going out and showing them the town we usually ended up having dinner late and this was where we went. Joanna, their pot roast is pretty good, as are the carnitas. I tend to stick to the burgers, salads and the breakfast items. They even have a delicious strawberry lemonade. My husband really likes their crush burgers, only if they are medium rare though. So, affordable food in a festive environment. I will not be heading to any other Village Inn while this one is around. I almost forgot, David (his name tag says Sparrow though) is a great server. The other night he kept apologizing because everything was so slow and he even discounted a piece of pie. I didn't notice anything coming out slow, but appreciated his attentiveness.

the f*cking pot roast roacks! not like your momas..more like your industrial mamas but hey. if your mamas far away, settle for this pot ROAST! Im gonna give this place a 5 star not because the food is great, but bc if youre broke AND dont want to cook rice & beans, then you can fork over 7$ and get yourself a turkey dinner with onion rings, mashed potatoes, gravy, salad, and a slice of pie! Otherwise, its really gross, industrial type of fast food stuff. Tastes industrial. Guess Im a snob, tho.

OMG PIE. Went here for dessert after a movie at the IMAX, and it was delicious, cheap, and fast (I like my pie like I like I like my women... ok, maybe not, but I couldn't resist). Don't know about the rest of the food, but I'll be back for dessert after any future films.
