You you would think that a restaurant that serves breakfast 24 hours and is open all night long every day of the week that they would be well prepared for a small table of 4 women who wish to have an late night breakfast. I was there with 3 other friends and we had come by as a close location that we knew we could obtain a bite to eat after we had been out and about exploring all day. While we had been drinking earlier we certainly were not a reality or obnoxious group by any means whatsoever. As a matter of fact we were the same as others in the restaurant proximately 3 or 4 other tables with party of four on a Saturday night near midnight. While seated quickly and the waiter seemed polite enough we didn't seem to be able to obtain tentative service and there were a few mistakes in the order. This wasn't particularly complicated as everyone essentially ordered simple breakfast entrees however things got a little sideways on the request for cooking the eggs scrambled. There seemed to be instructions conveyed clearly to the waiter were misinterpreted by the cook. And despite there being 2 servers on the floor and certainly adequate for the 4 to 5 tables that were currently in the restaurant it just seemed odd that no one really checked on us consistently to find out if there were things that we needed. We were having to ask again for certain things like an add on to our meal and a couple of other simple requests. We were not there a long time or lori dream and it just ended up being an unfulfilling late night breakfast encounter. Village Inn is known for their great pies however, when you order something that they are known for(pie) and they bring you something that seems a little sad and left over, it just really leaves am unappetizing pall on the diner and doesn't invite you to come back for a future visit.

Not bad for a breakfast place, but its that good either. Ordered the Biscuits & Gravy with Eggs together with a cup of coffee. Its a little affordable but I know a lot of place that serves great tasting eggs with low prices and good service.

The service is very very slow. . 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. . 10 more minutes before our drinks came and its been 35 minutes were still waiting for food.. .. i work in the service industry it's not that hard. Waiter isn't friendly and i feel like they definitely don't care. Very unfortunate i usually like village inn..

Never realized that fleas came with part of the meal. Our meals where infested with fleas. Our table was infested with fleas. When I told our server, she didn't even care. Not to mention, that we got our check before we even got our meal. Horrible, even for a low class dining place

I really did not have a great dining experience here. The one plus to this place is that it is very clean. Other then that, I can't say much. The service was just okay...Our waiter seemed a bit unfriendly and aggravated at several points throughout our meal. For my entree, I ordered the Garden Veggie omelette and thought the eggs were dry. In fact, I think microwavable eggs would have been more satisfying. I also think the zesty ranchero sauce was too overwhelming. My two friends ordered the strawberry crepes and thought they were quite good, but complained that the hash browns were way too soggy. My other guest ordered the belgian waffle with a side of eggs and said the waffle was just ordinary-nothing special. In her opinion the eggs were watered down and not edible. Overall, from the service to the food none of us were impressed. Maybe I should only try their pie next time.

This is the only place open at 2 am. after the bar. The meal hit the spot..the food was yummy and the crowd at 2 in the morning is so funny. The strawberry waffle a la mode was delicious and the coffee was hot. Its a super fun place for the night crowd and the service was delightful.

Been to this location 3 times in the last 8 months, and even though the food has been pretty good, the service has been very slow. They always seem to be short staffed. I hadn't been there since last Oct, but thought I'd give it another try and it was the same. The service once again was very slow. Slower than the last time I was there. It took 15-20 mins for the waiter to come and take our drink orders and an we waited an hour for our food. People that came in after us were served before us, even though the waiter took their orders after ours. Plus the Host that was working was telling people as they came in the door that there would be a 10-15 min wait so the servers and cook could catch up on orders. That is totally unacceptable. I know it was almost midnight but If you are going to be open 24 hours a day, then you should have enough staff no matter what time of day it is. We will not be returning to this location any time in the near future. .

Its not a 5-star restaurant so get over yourself. It's the VI baby! Cheap food and after a night telling yourself you can still party after 30, it is exactly what you need. A nice big salty chicken fried steak covered in gravy, side of biscuits, pancakes and about 10 sodas = clear your day cause your going to retain water like a pregnant women and spend the next 8 hours trying to figure out how to get it out of your body, ha! Go, eat and repeat....

These reviews of the Village Inn don't reflect our experience there at all. We go have gone the last 5 Wednesdays for free pie. We got coffee for us, milk for our kid, and three slices of pie. It's delicious, the service is friendly, the place is clean and the pie is FREE. It's not a bad place.

Wow, If I could give it less than one star that would be a better start. First off go somewhere else and save your time and money. I used to work at the Village Inn of Kipling before I left on good terms to go to the military, so I am rather familiar with the menu and services provided. Upon us being sat, we were handed off to another waiter from the host (whom had taken our drink order) and were greeted after quite a great lapse of time despite it being 11 pm and NOT busy. We are not picky eaters, I ordered off the late night menu for the steak and eggs with an extra side of hash browns, and my partner ordered the 2 sausage patties with a 2 egg cheese omelette and pancakes. I had forgotten that apparently on the late night menu the item which is typically no extra charge on the am menu (the omelette) is now a difficult thing to make. When we had requested it as our side item of egg, we were not told that it would cost us almost a 1$ extra. Not a big deal here. However, after about 30-40 Min our order was "served" and i still had not had my drink topped off. Looking at my partners plate I quickly noticed that it was nothing like what he had ordered. Somehow they thought that an order of 2 sausage patties, hash browns an omelette and pancakes meant "Put two sausage links chopped up and placed into a big omelette with extra cheese that we will charge for and make sure to burn the pancakes." I mentioned something to the waiter, whom had already had us charged and the ticket printed and he said himself that the cook messed up and that they could re-make it. Not wanting to waste anymore time, I said that it would be fine and if it tasted good it doesn't matter. Then I looked at my tab and noticed we got charged extra for extra cheese and on the bottom of the receipt it said **SEE SERVER**. Which means in Village Inn lingo, "talk to the server for special cooking instructions". We did not order anything different than what was on the menu. I pointed that out and showed him that somehow something on his end DID get entered in wrong despite him arguing with me saying that is how it was done. So I talked to the manager. He looked at the receipt and noted that there was something odd, and then proceeded to say probably the most unprofessional and borderline, if not racist comment. "No Ticket, no Taco." Which i assumed meant that if it wasn't put onto the ticket correctly that it would not come out correctly. He said it loudly in front of AT LEAST two tables seating Mexican families. I gave him a puzzled look and told him that it wasn't our intentions and that at this point I would like him to go and correct the order. He took off the price of one Iced Tea. He completely neglected the fact that It was ordered in wrong and had charged us extra money. We were done and ready to leave. The manager tried to take my old ticket *the one with the original text* and throw it away right out of my hands and I told him that I will be hanging onto it. "Fine. You can keep whatever you like." was his reply. My partner still had food on his plate and had asked the waiter, whom had now began to completely ignore us, for a box to take the rest of the burnt pancakes and hash browns home in. The waiter again was not attentive and had taken the plate with the food off the table to be thrown away. Asking THREE more times that we would like a box, almost in a row, my partner had to grab the plate out of his hand and ask a 4th time for the damned box. He returned shortly and asked us if we wanted any pie. No thank you. He did not thank us for our visit or anything and trotted off. The environment was dirty and had a nasty atmosphere. I can tell you that the problem here isnt the inattentive staff, the disease ridden floor, or the over all lack of self worth. The problem is terrible management. In particular, Mr. Tony. "No ticket, No taco." Im not looking for a free meal. I tip over 20% on average. They will not get a penny more out of me. To make that easier their register system was down and they took a knuckle buster ticket of our card. May have to watch out to see if there are any fraudulent charges due to the fact that there is no was an honorable establishment with any kind of idea to hiring people worth a hoot. I will continue to happily spend my money with the location off Kipling among friendly people, and spend less time hating my decision of eating at this septic line of a "restaurant" or bending over my latrine wishing what i had regrettably paid for would soon come out.

If it weren't for the ruefully inattentive and intermittently fake friendly service, this Village Inn dining adventure on Federal with people from work might have been aok. Food wasn't too bad for a Village Inn. But we had gotten quite hungry after waiting 45 minutes while our waitperson walked past over and over and over again without glancing our way, once she had filled our drink orders. Now, I'm truly the antithesis of the entitled persona, but there are only so many hours in a day, and although I thoroughly enjoyed spending time talking & listening to the wonderful people I was with, there comes a time when you've got to get done with lunch and go back to work!!!!!!!!! Surely we had the option to leave and go somewhere else, but one must to some extent go with the group majority preference at times. The pies in the case looked good and most were 30% off, but really I only had time to glance briefly at them on the way out the door. If I do have to return to this place, I will review the menu online, and order right when I'm seated, if possible.

OK, a guy - yes even a well dressed yuppie type in a hot car publically urinating in the parking lot of this Village Inn should have been enough to keep me out of this place. However, it was broad daylight and 4PM, so I figured what was inside the place couldn't be as bad as what I witnessed out in the parking lot. Well, it was. Everything went wrong with the meal. Starting with the cheese soup which I always loved at Village Inn - the soup was just one big glop of cheese stuck together in the bowl. It was not edible so I sent it back. Next I tried a salad with ranch dressing. Guess what? The ranch dressing was rancid and the crackers they gave met to go with the salad were very stale. That was also a no go. Finally I decided on an egg dish that looked very good on the menu with fresh tomatoes on top and a dollup of cheese sauce. The dish comes and they had drenched the whole entire entree with thick gloppy cheese sauce that resembled the cheese soup I had witnessed earlier and a few tomatoes. EEEK! At this point I told the server to forget it - she asked if there was anything else on the menu I would like to try but I declined. She was nice enough to comp me for some of the meal aka soup and salad, but I had to pay for that monstrosity egg disaster dish. I was just glad to get out of there without getting food poisoning at that point. I will never return.

Walked in and couldn't get past the smells. Moved to a different booth and same thing. Think gas station bathroom but this wasn't in the bathroom. Left and drove somewhere else, snorting the entire way to get the residual smell out of my nose.

I went in because I couldn't think of another place to get a single slice of pie, but I think I would have been better off just opening up a bag of sugar and inhaling. Yuck. The additional star is because this location looks to be remodeled and was better inside than I had expected...not that I'll be back.

Went here for a of times already and the food was still the same. I usually come here for breakfast and I usually got their egg cravers omelette. 1. Its omeletter and 2. Is a very delicious omelette. Love this kind of omelette because it taste like the one that I had in the other place.
