Stopped in for a late drink on a Friday night with the girlfriend. Very neat atmosphere offering some outdoor seating with a great deal of indoor space. Seating was plentiful inside, but on a nice Friday night the outdoor space was all taken, we found a spot close to the open exterior garage door which was great. There was also a lot of local art up on the walls with a number of really neat works (including some cool stained glass). The bar was quiet enough that you could hold a conversation with a great variety of music playing in the background, something I can appreciate a great deal in a bar. There were some mixed drinks on tap which was a nice twist, the dark and stormy was great while not quite a traditional dark and stormy it was enjoyable. The paloma that my friend had was not as good, clearly made with cheap tequila that was not too tasty, but for $6 it was hard to go wrong. We ordered another drink regardless (some sort of fizz) that was much better, until my clumsy self went and dumped it all over her. Despite, we certainly would have stayed a while and continued to chat and drink if we hadn't bailed for clean dry clothes. (whoops!). An unexpected bonus of the location was the ease at which we got an uber home (0 minute wait!? with several cars in the area). Definitely will return in the near future may even become a regular spot.

I get it: a Bonanno Concepts dive bar. It's a good college try. Just doesn't work. The happy hour is creative but ultimately expensive. Food is decent. The real saving grace of this place is the help. They kill it every time we're there. It's weird. This part of town just sucks for bars if you're a commuter and don't want to drive anywhere. We need a Work & Class, a Highland Tap & Burger, a Forest Room 5. Anything but another "dive bar." Frank, help us help you.

Wanted to like this place, though it was nothing to write home about. Odd crowd, odd menu, okay service. The food is mediocre, though cheap. Good spot to be anonymous, have a cheap bite and move on.

Want an awesome late start to your Sunday Fun Day?? Slide onto a bar stool at the Vesper Lounge. It's absolutely an undiscovered Brunch Gem! It serves brunch from 11-3 on Sundays and the chef is so amazingly talented. If you like lamb (and why wouldn't you?) you must get the Lamb Benedict! Oh. So. Good. There are a handful of other benedicts on the menu too, each with its own special hollandaise made from scratch. The Lamb came with a mint hollandaise..creamy and delicious. The tater tots are outrageously good. In fact, they may be the best I have ever had. We loved them so much (they come with each entree) that we had to order an extra side of them. The service is awesome and on Sundays you can booze up with bloody mary's, mimosas, man mosas (oj with agave wheat beer and more) etc- for $5. No lie! The bartenders are friendly and know how to pour a drink and discuss the menu (Hannah and Jake, I am talking about you!). So if you want a fantastic brunch that you don't have to wait 2 hours for, the Vesper Lounge is the place to be. We will be back...many times.

Vesper is a cool place, with food served late. We had a falafel- it hit the spot. Good beer selection. Cocktails on tap were watery and I would not order again. We were here late, maybe they are better earlier in the day. Love the divey atmosphere, and the booths.

Was looking for a late night meal in downtown Denver on a Sunday night and this was one of the only highly rated places open at that time. It was awesome! Went with my hubby and his bro. They both ordered the shaved lamb pita and I had a gyro. The "side" of fries was the size of an entree and were amazing. They were in between thick cut and skinny so not too bready, and not annoying to pick up with your fingers. They had a crispness that was just right and a slight bit of seasoning that added a delightful finish. Oh right...we ordered pitas too. :-) those were great! There were pickles in them. Who would have thought to put pickles in a pita? Not me and now I will be haunted by years of pickleless pitas. :-( Also some of the tzatziki and feta from my gyro fell onto my fries and made them extra special. Mmmmm fries. The ambiance was cool, and there was outdoor seating. We sat inside though. Boys and their football. Oh and there is a pretty sweet deal on Sunday's. $10 for beer, cheeseburger and fries. Love those fries!!!

Legit spot for late drinks in Gov's Park neighborhood. I work in the service industry and stop by after work. All the bartenders take good care of me. Surprisingly delicious bar food; including burgers, hummus and fried shrimp. Place is crowded on weekends, but that's because majority of Denver socialites only go out on Friday & Saturday. You're better off stopping by during the middle of the week to eliminate some of the drunk crowd.

Hands down the best hidden gem in Denver: order the wings, they're to die for. I also love the Lamb Burger! If you need a lighter fare then order the dip trio! Sample the Old Fashion on tap (it's homemade) and if you're not feeling Whiskey then try the homemade Ginger beer in a Moscow Mule. This place Rocks!

Great food. Good alcohol selection. The namesake Vesper cocktail is on point. Bartender Spencer is the man. A "dive" worth spending a few hours.

returned for 1st time since it was Lancers.... great to see that it has been cleaned up, but still same ambiance as before: Alex & Spencer made perfect cocktails and friendly engaged bartenders ... bar food menu simple: well executed & reasonably priced: also a treat to see Lynn stop by, who worked weekends behind the bar when it was Lancers ... mostly regulars here too, which is always a good indicator of a successful 'lounge'

We ended up here after dinner at Benny's. I know, at least before the ownership transition, that this was a fun divey bar. We were here on Dec 30th 2014. Whoever was making the mixed drinks was no bueno. I returned two drinks. I've never returned two drinks before in my life. Gin fizz sounded fun and tasted like pure sugar. This was followed up by a dark and stormy, equally sugary. I finally just ordered a beer which our waiter informed me I couldn't return. Thanks. I am after all a habitual one-sip-almost-puke-drink-returner. Ya caught me. Plenty of other places to booze it up. I'm sure the feeling is mutual.

When Vesper first opened, it was a great place to get a good burger, fries, and cocktail that wasn't too expensive or pretentious. It is was our neighbourhood favourite, so we've been there at least 15 times. It has gotten progressively worse and their quality control has gone way down in addition to the staff getting more and more surly. Whereas their burgers used to be juicy and cooked to temp, they are now cooked to a crisp. Several times they have forgotten part of my order and never seem very apologetic about it. Lately, I've stopped going here.

Good place to grab a beer and some grub late. Located on the site of the old lancers--one of the diviest most desperate alcoholic lairs you've seen this side of a Bukowski short--this Bonano "concept" is a nice counterbalance to his nearby fine dining. The basic idea is somewhat classed up dive bar with a limited menu, mostly burgers and gyros. Chances are you will find a lot of the service industry crowd coming in off work for some R&R. Who knows where to get a beer and a burger better than a bunch of bartenders and line cooks right? The food is cheap, the tap list, though limited, usually has a few good local beers on it. The cocktails "on tap" are pretty good. There are some blemishes. The food can be inconsistent (especially regarding cooking the burgers to temp), special orders may come through messed up, and sometimes the place is horribly understaffed, but despite these occasional hiccups this place is a solid late night spot to grab a few drinks with friends and pig out on a gyro or a burger.

Wow, so glad we stopped by! Not sure about the place that was here before that people keep referencing, but Vesper is great, so suck it up and stop complaining! After having a bad experience at Le Central around the corner, we stumbled upon Vesper for happy hour. (Thanks Yelpers for the suggestion!) I got a drink duo of a Cosmo and pink lady shot for $7. Such s great deal! Essentially 2 drinks for the price of 1 since the shot was huge! Boyfriend got the signature Vesper drink which was great as well. We shared some fries and each got a slider. A falafel and hamburger. Both great. Overall great place to start out a night of happy hours, or to just go and hang out at for a while! We will definitely be back.

Came here before our reservation at Luca, and I will say it has a divey, yet hip atmosphere. Great tap list, including the fun cocktails "on tap". Price point is reasonable, and friendly bar service. I would like to see a more robust small plates menu, but cannot comment on the food because we only had drinks. Not too crowded (it was during a snowy evening so it's to be expected) and pretty intimate spacing. I wouldn't say I loved it, but it's not a bad bet for a drink in a dim lit setting.

This is a nice, casual bar in the Cap Hill area. I've been here before when it was Lancer Lounge (cheap drinks so strong, they'd put hair on your chest right before you pass out on the sidewalk in your own vomit) and I'm glad it still has the same dive bar feel. However, it's not as cheap as Lancer, but not overly expensive either and the pour is pretty good. Try the gin fizz, it's delicious, don't believe me, ask the dishes! The night we came they had Geeks Who Drink trivia going on. My friends and I decided to play and did pretty good. The only downside was interacting with one of the Vesper's regular trivia teams and realizing that they were nothing but pretentious, hipster, fake-glasses wearing douche bags. It's okay. They had to deal with the fact that throughout the entire night, they were getting their asses owned in trivia by a team called Midgets That Squirt. Overall, we had a really good time here.

  • Randi D.

Way to loud. Way to packed. I felt like the booth seats had collapsed and we were sitting on the ground. Not the right place for a casual conversation driven night. That said, if you don't mind the loud packed room, it's a fun place to check out. Just not my style.

We came here on a whim and I was a bit hesitant because I wanted something low key but not divey but also not a place where I'd have to dress up or pay a fortune for drinks. To me, "lounge" is a bit of a misnomer but this place was everything I was looking for that night. It had a good energy and just a perfect spot to hang out with friends!

  • K M.

This place still has an old dive bar feel but it's clean, has great drinks and even better food. The crispy garbanzos are salty and spicy, delicious. The lettuce cups were super fresh and so flavorful. The wings were a perfect size, not grossly large like most places have now. They were perfectly crisp and doused in a savory, sweet and spicy honey sauce. They were great. The mixed drinks are all on tap so they are consistently consistent. Overall a great place for great food and great drinks. The service was good too.

  • Cassandra S.

We came here for trivia. They had great craft drinks, however they were a little pricey. Our service was hit or miss, which is kind of strange cuz the place they had seen that busy. Its super divey, which is cool. Another thing I have to say about trivia is that the host was pretty rude. She definitely didn't try very hard to up the energy of the fun of the night. It was a parent she was only there to get through the night get her job done and leave. However the questions were good and the people around us were friendly which made it fun.

Two parts dive, two parts cocktail lounge. Lots of varied seating options. I'd say this is probably the most versatile bar I know of in Denver. Suitable for all different moods. There are a bunch of stellar food options nearby; this place would work equally well for a starting cocktail, or on the back end of dinner once things are all headed downhill ; )

I can't say I was completely thrilled to see the beloved Lancer Lounge replaced by another Bonanno baby.. That being said Vesper has become one of my most frequented neighborhood spots. Great munchies and happy hour drinks that feature a Greek style selection.. Gyros, burgers, etc.

  • Sean M.

I am not a super fan of Vesper, which I know can be a polarizing sort of place. Among my friends however, not so much. None of us is interested in hanging around the same group of 20 and 30 somethings that have patronized this bar since they first opened their doors shortly after the beloved Lancer closed. The clientele has legitimately not changed since it opened. And even then, it was just a sort of shifting of patrons from Cahoots and Outlook and the Back Door (crack whore) - they are all the same freaking people! And yes, it is totally hipster of every variety. Old man, ex member of an obscure hard core band hipster; young hipsters wearing Forever 21 and hoping to bang their way up the social ladder; hippie hipsters (hippie-sters?) who unironically talk about astrology and communal living while wearing a $500 pair of boots; local farmers; local shop owners; artists, musicians, writers - freakin' hipsters all of them. And yes, in the interest of full disclosure, I may be someone who would likely be described as a combination of all of the above. So, I kinda suck too. Buy some sweet tea vodka, set up a few chairs in your backyard, invite a rando group of acquaintances over, and you'll be in your own little Vesper Lounge.

Oh, Vesper Lounge, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways... You are the perfect grandpa's-basement-reminiscent dive bar scene! The waitstaff is the friendliest in town! Fantastic food and drink menu! Great spot for trivia night, date night, or a HH rendezvous! Had dinner and drinks last night at Vesper Lounge with a friend. It was Friday night, and the place was hoppin'. I'd never had the burger, and it was excellent and a steal at just $9 with a side of fries! Will totally be hitting up Vesper Lounge again for dinner!

charming spot! Very good at creating hangovers / black outs! If someone had to replace the beloved Lancer, we could do much worse! Love the 'no anger' sign that was made out of the old lancer one, plus the back area is fun. The vibe is much different than ol' LL, but their extensive music selection on the juke box allows you to turn this place into whatever you want it to be. We have rocked some metal, some old school, and some party music. Unfortunately this place is a little pricey. I ordered a dirty martini and it was friggen $12! So, I say wait until happy hour and SHARE. I downed two of them the other night and oops, blacked out. But those were damn tasty martinis, I sure remember that! Their drinks on tap are tasty depending on your poison of choice. The nippler or whatever it is, was delicious. Also, the hummus is quite good. That is as far as I have gotten on the menu. Depending on who you talk to, the service is hit or miss. Some of the bartenders are great, others have less than welcoming attitudes. Plus, I think this place is haunted by booze hound ghosts, there is just something in the air that says 'get crazy wasted here'. It was true under previous ownership and it is true today. Booooooooze!

I've been here a few times now and I love this neighborhood bar. My favorite place to sit is the bar but they also have plenty of restaurant and patio seating. The signature cocktail is the James Bond vesper - get ready for a wild ride as it's made with vodka and gin. They have about 6 house cocktails on tap which are very good. My favorites are: old fashioned, dark and stormy and the Paloma. The silver Bombay fizz is a little on the tart side just FYI. This place makes amazing martinis - manhattan or a dirty gin! I've tried a few food items here: polenta fries, chicken, home made funions, and their dip trio. All very good with great flavor. To keep you entertained they have a ton of board games and a juke box. They usually have art for sale in they dining room.

We stopped by before heading to Cherry Creek for dinner and really loved this local hangout. The happy hour special of a drink and shot for $6 or $7 is a steal. I enjoyed a glass of champagne and a cherry shot...yum! We tried the gyro and cheeseburger sliders too...pretty good!

Laid back atmosphere, great service, and very reasonable prices. The chick pea fries are delicious. Skip the crudité platter and get the Colorado lamb burger or the BLT. Perfect for a weeknight dinner with friends!

A very solid lounge in the center of Gov Park. A good amount of class to entertain a business happy hour and a good amount of cool to accomodate the casual urbanite. I enjoyed the grilled calamari and baba ganoush paired with a couple left hand milk stouts during a meeting with a new aquaintence. My counterpart was instantly impressed by the atmosphere. Their special cocktails are great and I prepped myself with their signature Vesper. The cocktail tastes mild for how hard it really is. I also liked the cocktails on draft. Overall, a perfect addition to the neighborhood.

  • Nick C.

Since I moved into the neighborhood, Vesper is slowly becoming my default bar when I need a late night beverage and would rather not venture out of the neighborhood. It is a great drinking alternative to Govs, Charlie Brown's, and Lala's. The place has a lot of character, good Mediterranean food, cocktails on draft (yes I said draft), and friendly service. Even though Gov's is just across the street and has a hard to beat happy hour, Vesper has its own clever and original take on happy hour specials including the Blood Hound (Utica Club $ Shot of Jim Beam) for $5, the Chupicabra (Corona $ Shot of Espolon) for $6, and my favorite, not just by name, Capitol Hillbilly (any draft & well shot) for $7. There's about 10 more that I didn't mention as well as a respectable draft list.

We moved into the neighborhood in February, and I'm so glad this is our new neighborhood bar. The service is good - sometimes great, sometimes just OK. The drinks are good and not too expensive; I love their Paloma on tap. And the food is outstanding and unique. They almost always play music I like, and most of the time it's not too crowded. I often just stop by on my way home from work for a drink and a snack, and hang out a while. It's good place to chill and read the mail, do your taxes, read a book, watch the World Cup, whatever. Food recommendations: bar nuts (roasted chick peas) and funyuns - both homemade. The fries are also good.

  • Frances G.

This is a neighborhood spot that appeals to just the everyday, fun, laid back crowd. With chill and nice waiters and awesome deals like 2 for 1 dirty martinis (during HH hours) and unique food items, like chick pea fries - there's really bit a lot to dislike about this place. Plus - on a nice day, is a perfect patio to catch up with friends under the sun!

This was a surprisingly good experience! Not that I expected a negative one. I wanted to find a nearby happy hour spot to kill time. Vesper Lounge was it. I ordered their hummus dip and gyro slider. Both were quite good and filling. The bonus came because the chef was experimenting with shishito peppers and feta cheese. Eventually, they made their way to me and I got to give some feedback. That was very cool. Thanks!

I've only been coming here because of a trivia night. It's probably not doing Vesper any good that I recently had very, very good falafel, and pita filled with all sorts of things, on a recent trip to the middle east. I will say that the falafel here has some of the better texture I've had on falafel in the US. I like the spices they use and it wasn't a dry hockey puck like they so often are. I've also had the chicken pita which had flavorful, moist chicken, and the gyro which contained thin, flimsy, underseasoned meat. The sandwiches are pretty cheap ($6.50-8.50) and come with huge amounts of fries that have a spice on them I really hate. I like the crispiness of the fries but I can't get over the flavor, so last time I paid the extra to get veggies (Free) with a dip ($3). I chose the artichoke/chick pea dip which was very runny and tasted like neither of the named ingredients. Although I do like how reasonably priced the sandwiches are, the dips are pricey and the drinks are outrageous! For a "Dive bar" they have got to be kidding themselves with $9 cocktails on a menu with $6 food. Seriously, Vesper: Look at your menu, look at your choices. Beyond that, though, my biggest issue is that this iteration of this bar has been open maybe a year and it is physically run down. The paint and walls are dinged and chipped, the bathroom is nonsensical, service doesn't justify the drink costs, etc. Bonanno should have either let this place remain the true dive it was, even if it spoiled his monopoly on the block, OR he should just turn it into a concept restaurant that fits more with his established aesthetic. This quasi dive bar schtick just clearly doesn't suit him, and it makes for a confused menu, confused prices, and confused dining experience.

I have lived in the neighborhood for awhile and had no idea this place was there. A friend suggested we go there bc Don's was too crowded. We walked in - atmosphere was great, bartenders were awesome, we sat at the bar and just had a great time. It's on the divey side - maybe more like hole-in-the-wall. Didn't try the food but apparently it is Greek. Can't wait to go back!

Holy strong drinks Batman! I'm so glad the key component to what once was the Lancer Lounge has remained in the transformed Vesper Lounge. I've said it before and I'll say it again: a face lift does wonders for a bar! I don't remember what the raspberry drink is called (hint, hint) but man o' man is it delicious! There are a handful of other specialty house drinks that are strong and yet smooth. Again, this is only from what I "remember." Beyond that, they have a few combo drinks where you get a beer/drink and a shot for one low price. This is the way to go! While I am aware that they serve food here I haven't had the pleasure to experience the fare. However, from the looks of it each item seems yum-tastic. Really, this place is the dive bar cousin of some of the more fancy eateries around town. Stop in, say hello, come back for more! The interior decor is dark and intimate and I love it. There are booths, tables, high tops and seats at the bar for all your drinking enjoyment. Also, how can you go wrong with a solid patio ripe for people watching? It's not often that I am in this area but when I am there's never a reason NOT to visit the Vesper Lounge. Juke box. Total fan!

I've really come around to the Vesper in the past few months. Admittedly, I was crushed when the Lancer closed, as it was pretty much my perfect dive bar. When Vesper first opened, I had a rough couple of visits--namely because the music was so bad. Just inexplicably bad like '90s indie jock rock. No bueno. But I've now come back a few times and am getting steadily won over. The cocktails on tap are great. I usually stick to the Old-Fashioned, because yum. They also have a pretty good Mediterranean food menu; the dips were superb, the salad was good because of an amazing dressing, and the homemade Funions were awesome, but far too few! For the price, there should have been double (says the chick who wants unlimited Funions). Lately, we've been enjoying Tuesday Geeks Who Drink trivia. My verdict: Vesper is a perfectly nice little neighborhood bar. The music could still be a little better (face it: the music makes the bar), but I'm won over.

First and foremost, I must say that I come here for the drinks, not the food. I have tried most of the food, and the burger is REALLY good, but overall its not my thing. The drinks however very much are! Obviously the success of any bar depends on its bartenders, and that is what this place gets so well. They are all really friendly and pour a mean martini, while also always being up for a friendly chat. I cannot tell you how hard it is to find this combo in Denver, its usually one or the other: great drinks with terrible service, or great service with crap drinks. Their all day HH on Mondays is especially nice during the warmer months, when you can sit outside and enjoy a great cocktail. While I am a big fan of most of their on-tap cocktails, some friends have been not so thrilled with the mixer choices so be cautious with those, or just ask to try one first. The beer list is also really great (the HH offers several beer & a shot combo's). The ambience is also a standout. I love all the local art on the walls, and the lighting is exactly how a bar should be lit: soft but light enough to see the person across from me. The jukebox is great too! Grab some friends and head down here anytime, no matter what time of day or day of the week, this place delivers.

Had a friend's birthday party at the Vesper Lounge last week and despite the fact that I didn't *LOVE* the drinks, it was a really good time. Loved the location, decor and layout of the Vesper Lounge and although I didn't sample anything, the menu looked pretty good too. Definitely some nice happy hour specials and the servers/bartenders were super accommodating and very nice. My one problem - my only problem, really - was that I just didn't love the drinks. After seeing a lot of reviewers rave about cocktails on tap, my mojito left a lot to be desired. Also had a sip of the birthday boy's cocktail and wasn't blown away by that, either. I'll for sure head back to sample some different libations and food, but for now Vesper gets a solid three stars from yours truly.

Regardless of whether or not the Lancer Lounge was great, the Vesper Lounge is there now and is only A-OK. What I like about the Vesper Lounge is it has two happy hours: one when they first open for the evening and the other a bit later. Which is a good thing, since their drinks are pricey even at Happy Hour. This is a Bonanno establishment after all! Even though I was tempted to get a Vesper, I went with a Lefthand Milk Stout, which seems to be a trend with me lately. While the food is good, I've had better Middle Eastern/Mediterranean, even here in Denver. To the person that said this is the best Baba Ganoush they've had, I'm truly sorry. It was fine, but nothing amazing. And while I did enjoy my lamb pita, it was pricey for what it was and I'm not in a rush to go back for it. The chick pea fries are ridiculously good though and were the standout. Even though I was not overly impressed with the Vesper Lounge, they are in my neighborhood, and open late. We needed an alternative to Cosmo's and Wendy's for late night food, so I will probably return at some point and give them a second shot.

I've now been to Vesper twice and have had an excellent time on both tries. I will say I was somewhat skeptical because of my love of Lancer, but I feel Vesper holds the value of the stiff drinks and feel of the neighborhood. The only rub is the amount you'll be spending will be significantly higher. The bar still has a real divey feel, and doesn't give off an arrogant vibe, but you can definitely tell the clientele has changed. I enjoyed my old fashion both times I went and by the end of the night was buzzed enough to not care about the amount I spent. I would say if you're on a strict budget, you may want to keep walking down the street to Don's. The food looked good, I've not tried it but will be back to indulge. Overall I went in with low expectations and came out with a rather fond experience. I will be back and I recommend anyone else to also try Vesper out!

J.C.'s review is completely wrong. If the Lancer was so great, why is it not there anymore??????? Apparently, you just can't please some people, and one star is completely undeserved. I have been to the Vesper 2 times since it opened (less than 2 weeks ago) and went back the second time because the food and drinks were SO GOOD the first time that I HAD TO GO BACK. . I have had every single one of the cocktails on tap -- Boulevardier, Old Fashioned, Mai Tai, and Silver Gin Fizz, the Vesper -- the House Cocktail, the happy hour offerings with the side shots, and a gin & tonic with their homemade tonic. I was NOT slighted by ANY of the drinks or shots. In fact, all of the drinks are strong and meant to be sipped. On my first visit, Adam Hodak explained the intricacies of the entire drink menu, and believe me, they put a lot of thought and talent into the drinks. The drinks are crafted with care and taste the way the drinks were meant to taste, not like the fast-paced crappy drinks made with substandard ingredients that most of us are accustomed to drinking. Even though the drinks are great, I came back for the food. That is, one sandwich in particular -- The Marinated Fish. Think of it as a fish gyro (with thick wahoo/ono). It is so tasty with the tzatziki and thinly sliced marinated cucumbers (and for those who eat it the standard way, with onions and tomatoes). It is SO GOOD. I want to try other menu items like the kabobs, but I cannot seem to get away from the marinated fish sandwich. Yum! All that I have to say is --a little sage, a little spirit, take out the old trash -- LANCER LOUNGE -- Good Riddance. Thank you Frank for another great one.

Frank nailed it again! We visited the Vesper Lounge last night to grab some drinks and dinner, knowing full well it was the second day they were open and that we may experience some hiccups. They were working out some issues with Comcast, but otherwise WOW! We were there during happy hour, so I tried one of their happy hour drinks first. Their take on happy hour is great - very different. Rather than doing a buy one get one free, or a dollar or percentage off, most happy hour specials are a cocktail or a beer plus a shot. Adam Hodak, the bartender from Green Russell was there last night, and explained that he'd come up with the happy hour menu. What a great idea! I tried the "Swept Away" - a Cosmo coupled with a Lady in Pink shot. Both were tasty. They also offer 4 classic cocktails on tap - Boulevardier, Old Fashioned, Mai Tai and a Silver Gin Fizz. We tried the Old Fashioned and the Gin Fizz, and Adam offered us a taste of the Boulevardier. All 3 were delicious. I also tried their House Cocktail, the Vesper and it was awesome. Most of the drinks are around the $6 price point, which is really reasonable. Especially considering that all of the drinks we tried packed a punch - after about 2 cocktails each, we both thought it was probably a good idea to eat something. The food menu is mostly mediterranean themed. We tried the Baba Ganoush, the Marinated Fish Sandwich and the Chicken Pita. The Baba Ganoush was some of the best I'd ever eaten. It was smooth and creamy, topped with white and black sesame seeds, some fresh herbs and olive oil. The olive oil was obviously very high quality, and you could taste the oil in each bite. The sesame seeds were also a nice touch and added a little bit of a nutty taste to the dip, but the best part was the spicy finish. Completely unexpected and it fit the dish perfectly! I can't put my finger on what it was, but it was amazing. The pita bread was toasted perfectly and tasty as well. Both the Fish and Chicken were served in pitas and topped with Feta, Fattoush and Tzatziki and served with fries. These were both delicious as well - the chicken was cooked perfectly and served in large satisfying chunks. The fish was delicious, moist and flavorful, and was surprisingly plentiful. The pita held way more fish than we expected. The Tzatziki was really thick and flavored with feta, cucumbers and a slight hint of onion. I could eat it by the bowl! And then the fries, oh the fries . . .they had a hint of curry in the seasoning, and it pretty much made them perfect. I ate every bite on my plate (or in my basket in this case). The bartenders were friendly and helpful, obviously still learning some of the cocktails, but were efficient nonetheless. The space is definitely a whole lot nicer and more welcoming than the Lancer lounge. They've opened up a service window in the wall behind the bar and it makes the entire space seem larger. Based on my experience last night, I can't wait to go back and work my way through the entire food and drink menu - it's that good!

Casual, comfortable spot to hang out and enjoy a beer or a cocktail and some small snacks if you're hungry. Vesper specializes in cocktails and even has cocktails "on tap", in addition, the menu has a Mediterranean flair which is nice if you're not in the mood for typical heavy, fried bar food. If you enjoy drinking wine, or you're a wine snob, you won't find your niche here. While there is wine - there were only two selections of red on my visit. On the other hand - if you like cocktails that pack a punch, look no further than the Vesper which is made with their own infused vodka.

AWESOME cocktails! Where else is Ketel One or Grey Goose the well vodka? I love their dirty martinis (especially the two-for-one martinis they have at happy hour), and whatever spice they put on their french fries is delicious. The hummus and other assorted dips are also amazing. The first time I went was opening night and the owner was around thanking people for coming - definitely made me feel appreciated and led me to come back! Every time I've been the servers have been super cool. The only reason for the four stars is something another reviewer pointed out... Apparently kids are allowed here? Not sure about other people, but I prefer to toss back my drinks without 8-year-olds running around... I have not been for brunch yet, but if the quality is the same as the other food they serve, I'm sure it's delish. PS - I have to say, that overall this bar deserves a much higher average rating than it has... If you look at all those 1-star people though, they're clearly just unhappy that Lancer Lounge closed. I get it was a neighborhood favorite, but things change folks! As a homeowner in the neighborhood, I'm happy to have a classier, yummier, better-cocktail-making place nearby.

Cocktails on tap?! Now that's more like it! Try the Burlesque for happy hour!!

Vesper is my jam. They have a great tap selection and some pretty aggressive happy hour deals....Draft and a shot of Wild Turkey for $5 = aggressively awesome. BOMB greek bar food. The Colorado Lamb Gyro is something dreams are made of. I just tried the Greek Burger and that was scrumptious as well. Their Fries apparently won some Westword honors recently. This probably isn't the manliest thing I have ever said but...The Humus something you want to nose dive into. Prices typical of a Bonnano Concepts restaurant...borderline expensive. Similar in price to their Russell's Smokehouse. Worth the price if you ask me!

I love how this place has honored the old layout and divey-ness of Lancer Lounge. The bar is well tended with a few unique options on draft. I LOVE the fried chick pea dish and the lamb kebabs I devoured last night were delicious. I think the price of the lamb kebab was about $2 too high (10 small chunks of lamb for 13 bucks? HMPH!) Either way I'm a sucker for this and will order it again. Just not your typically bar fare--it's rather quality.

My boyfriend and I were hungry for a late night snack last night and decided to give this place a try. The server presented himself very well and was super friendly/ helpful. We both got the gyros. I will say they were prepared great and tasted yummy! We unfortunately didn't care for the fries. Cool hippy spot.

Really like what they did to the place. Really enjoyed their twist on the tater tots! The Crab Benedict was okay, but I probably wouldn't order it again for $13. Didn't really care for the Frappe - not a fan of that much 1/2 and 1/2 in my coffee drink. The staff was really friendly and attentive. Will definitely go back and try more items on their brunch menu.

On a recent venture to see how the old Lancer Lounge has been cleaned up into Vesper Lounge I was immediately nostalgic for the Lord of the Rings pinball and murkiness of the former. But alas, things change. And on a Tuesday where Vesper offered Geeks Who Drink trivia, comfortable booths and Mediterranean food I was pleasantly accepting. Both the gyro and chicken pita sandwich were delicious! Better sandwiches than I've had at 2 am at Jerusalems, in fact. The drinks were strong and interesting, especially the Vesper. While I will miss the cups of vodka and the panic hour that the Lancer offered, the grub at Vesper alone is worth revisiting the revamped neighborhood bar.

so yeah, this is our neighborhood bar. happy hour all day and night monday - yes please! you can't beat the prices and when you're unsure of what kind of shot you want with your beer the bartenders are ready to offer up options based on your prefs. staff is super friendly and each time we've been theres been lots of lively conversation around the bar, sometimes bringing others into the convo making it feel real neighborhood-y. tried the snacks and they are delicious, especially the fries. atmosphere is really laid back. we'll probably be here every monday!

This used to be one of the best dive bars in town and is still a great place to meet friends for a drink even after it has switched owners. My one recommendation is to stay clear of the food- it tends to come out a bit dirty. It's a great place to hit if you're waiting for a reservation or a table at one of the nearby restaurants. They have great signature cocktails and the staff is very friendly.

Vesper Lounge has quickly become a favorite stop in for a cocktail & a snack later in the evening. Every morsel on the simple menu is delicious, cooked/prepared to perfection. There is always a nice neighborhood feel to the place & bartenders have been attentive and fun. We'll be seeing you again soon Vesperites!

Vesper Lounge is a dive bar but it doesn't really feel like it. The food is amazing, I'd recommend anything that has tzatziki on it like the Greek burger, and the drinks are also very good.

Very cool little space. I enjoy coming here. They have decent drink specials for happy hour, and the staff is super friendly. I haven't tried their food because the selection is limited and on the pricey side, but otherwise, I'd recommend the Vesper Lounge for sure.

I'm not gonna lie. I can get a larger pour for the same price elsewhere. Snacks are fine, but you can't charge Cherry Creek prices for formerly-known-as-a shithole bar.

We came up here for Geeks Who Drink on a Tuesday night. I have to say I love what they have done with the place. The food menu is fairly decent, great happy hour prices and they have a lot of craft beer on tap. I haven't had anything here to eat except some fries but they were delicious and cooked to perfection. Oh, and did I mention they have Geeks Who Drink on Tuesdays? A great reason to come here. Also, the wait staff is pretty awesome too.. Very friendly and on top of the orders. If I didn't have my own Tuesday night gig starting up here shortly, I'd be here every single week.

Hands down the worst service I've had anywhere. Upon entering we were told to sit anywhere and it was full service everywhere. It wasn't an overly crowded night, seats available, but a decent pace of people. We had a table for 8. When the first 5 arrived we saw our waitress who took our order and then brought it to us. That was the last and only time we saw her. Anytime we wanted another drink we had to go to the bar. When it was time to leave I stood at the bar for 5 minutes before I was even acknowledged (by another waiter) while our waitress was flirting with a customer for additional 5 minutes. The drinks were just drinks so given the service I have no plans to return here again or recommend it.

The curried french fries were good. The baba ganoush was overpoweringly lemoney and weird. The martinis were delicious and cheap during happy hour, except that the second one tasted like there might have been some flavored vodka left over in the shaker; dirty blueberry martini? blech! The service was friendly ahd prompt. The music was mostly just terrible. I sure hate those internet jukeboxes. Hank Williams Jr. to Britney Spears to Talking heads.... Our experience was kind of like that, a bit all over the place.

I never thought I'd say losing the Lancer would downgrade the neighborhood, but sadly Heaped has taken away what was the charm of the old dive. We visited last night and were sorely disappointed. First off, gone is the infamous ancer shot pour. Not only are the shots tiny, but they are in those horribly deceiving extra-thick shot glasses. Of course, the price didn't get any cheaper. My boyfriend ordered one of the pre-made old fashioneds, which came out of the container cloudy and super sweet. When my boyfriend asked for a handmade version, the bartender was arrogant and rude, saying that's just "how it was". Neither of the two bartenders were friendly or welcoming. They forgot portions of our order and basically acted too good to wait on us. While the food may be good, the menu makes no sense. Rather than serving hummus and pesto, they should go back to the dive bar staples, but with an upscale twist. I do like that the bar looks similar to what it was, but the rest of the decor is sparse. I understand with new ownership comes change, and the Lancer did need a clean up, but don't turn a beloved local spot into cheap snobbery. No desire to return any time soon.

I've had dinner here three times, tried three different items & enjoyed them all. The tap beer prices are a bit odd but if you whine just a little Spencer will pour you a 16 ounce $5 beer from the 12 ounce $4 side of the menu. The service is friendly & easy to look at. Once again Frank Bonnano has a hit far better than than the old Lancer Lounge. Give this place a try it won't disappoint.

My new favorite bar! Friendly staff, great atmosphere, tasty food, and delicious drinks. After my first visit, i have been back weekly and try to take someone new every time (I want to share this place with everyone). All of the cocktails on tap are perfectly crafted, as well as the ones made to order. The servers and tenders are extremely friendly and skilled. The food is simply amazing! Thanks, Frank. I love all the dips, but my favorite is the Baba Ganoush. SO GOOD! I love the atmosphere, Lancer looks with a Bond vibe. And they have table games - personally, I'm a little obsessed with Jenga. This review is a little vague, but you just need to check it out for yourself. Oh, and to JC. You have no idea what you are talking about. I have a sneaking suspicion that you work at Lala's down the street. Very uncool to wish poorly on your neighborhood competition. I will think twice about visiting Lala's from now on.

I gave it a second try tonight and was once again disappointed in everything except for the staff (the same eager staff who is writing these 6 paragraph reviews ;) We tried the gyro and the lamb burger and several of their "dips". The gyro is pre-sliced deli meat and the lamb burger tasted like cheap hamburger. The hummus had a consistency of well blended baby food and the fries were fries. From an elite restaurateur, the food is a complete let down. Drinks were overpriced and in miniature low-ball glasses. The atmosphere is odd as well. If you are expecting a neighborhood bar you will be sorely disappointed. I won't be giving it a third try.

Vesper has continued the legacy Lancer Lounge's decor and strong drinks with a more upscale twist. The bar menu has several good choices and reasonable prices. I did not order food, but a friend did and let everyone in the group know how good it was. The space was not packed after work on a Friday (a huge plus to me!) and had a really nice taproom atmosphere, but was starting to fill in around 9PM.

I know I am an ALIEN YELPER from SF, but I wanted to chime in and say Vesper is fabulous. Stopped by one snowy Sunday when I was visiting a friend in town and had spectacular cocktails and delicious pita and dips. Thumbs up for the housemade ginger and salty grapefruit sodas. Wish we could get somewhere as high quality but low pretension in the bay area!

Vesper is a cool place, with food served late. We had a falafel- it hit the spot. Good beer selection. Cocktails on tap were watery and I would not order again. We were here late, maybe they are better earlier in the day. Love the divey atmosphere, and the booths.

Way to loud. Way to packed. I felt like the booth seats had collapsed and we were sitting on the ground. Not the right place for a casual conversation driven night. That said, if you don't mind the loud packed room, it's a fun place to check out. Just not my style.

returned for 1st time since it was Lancers.... great to see that it has been cleaned up, but still same ambiance as before: Alex & Spencer made perfect cocktails and friendly engaged bartenders ... bar food menu simple: well executed & reasonably priced: also a treat to see Lynn stop by, who worked weekends behind the bar when it was Lancers ... mostly regulars here too, which is always a good indicator of a successful 'lounge'

Laid back atmosphere, great service, and very reasonable prices. The chick pea fries are delicious. Skip the crudité platter and get the Colorado lamb burger or the BLT. Perfect for a weeknight dinner with friends!

  • Rachel S.

I had the lamb gyro, and though it wasn't horrible, I find Melita's to be much more enticing.

Great neighborhood spot. Yummy food. Friendly staff. Make their own sodas and have a killer drink menu. Good beers on tap.
