Starbucks, I'mma let you finish but the Weathervane had the best Lavender Almond Milk latte I've ever had. I've. Ever. Had. Everyone in my party tried their different home-made syrups and loved them. One of my favourite flavours of all time (of all time) is lavender and here the syrup was not too sweet, just the right amount of herbal perfume without eating a bar of soap, all-around perfect. It also helped that the charming ladies serving us were so helpful and sweet themselves. In addition, there's $5 breakfast burritos, lavender lemonade and a vintage store inside. Reasonably priced coffee including cortados on the menu (which is really simple but not a lot of places know what that is... I'm looking at you Starbucks). There's a patio and up some winding stairs hang bright bunting over vintage sofas. The shop is set on trendy 17th Ave but looks to be one of the original houses and so charming! It's the type of place you could find yourself settling in getting lost in a book, like a home away from home.

Excellent!! In town visiting for a long weekend. Whenever I travel I make it a point to check out local coffee shops. The Weathervane far exceeded my hopes. The cold brew is smooth, not acidic and bitter like some other Denver spots. And the food is superb. Over the course of the trip my boyfriend and I tried the homemade pop tarts, coconut chia pudding, lavender shortbread, pistachio bread, and the breakfast burrito. All of which were phenomenal. The decor is as spot on as the menu. If I lived here this would surely be my go-to spot. I cannot recommend it enough!

Nice little coffee spot. They have almond milk and make their own simple house syrups. Great grilled ham and cheese sandwich and grilled panini style breakfast burrito. Homemade pastries sell out early. We were there at noon and most were gone. Had an interesting basil and chocolate muffin that was deliciousness.

Came here today to escape from my apartment while studying for an exam. I sat inside for about 2 hours trying to focus on the material in front of me. The experience was overall very good. My only complaint would be the lack of pastries available today (which could be because of the time or the fact that it was a weekday). I had seen some fabulous photos on Yelp and it seemed that everything was either sold out or not available today. The coffee was fabulous - strong and hot. Everything I needed to help with my studying. The baristas were super cool. Present if you needed them but giving you your space if you were focused on your computer. The seats are actually super comfortable. They have these old school padded vinyl chairs that are wonderful while sitting for a long period of time. My bum didn't go numb which is a HUGE plus. One quick gripe that has nothing to do with Weathervane. There was a gal in here who thought it complete appropriate to talk loudly on her cell phone. I am under the impression that if I am in a coffee shop you either (a) go outside to answer your phone or (b) do NOT take the call. I am completely fine with people chatting as this is a great place to meet a friend or colleague; however talking on your phone while people are trying to study, work or visit is so rude. Sorry - little side rant. Thanks for a great study spot! I truly appreciate it!

Okay, this place is amazing! From the unassuming exterior (complete with one of those so-gaudy-it's-great spiked fences) to the quaint and cozy interior, everything is a pure delight! The staff was polite, friendly and so on top of their game that the two of them were able to bust out drink after drink and plate after plate in a timely manner, despite a rush of customers. I ordered a lavender latte and a breakfast sandwich, both of which were very good! I'm a lavender lover so I was overjoyed to see such a unique syrup flavor offered. And the space itself is just really fun to sit in. There's so many quirky details to take in (we loved the plates and coffee cups!) and the upstairs floor seemed like a cool space to hang out in. Oh and they have a section of local goodies on the shelves across from the register, where I found a jar of lavender honey and my life's happiness. We will definitely be back to this adorable place!

Love this place! Great food and coffee. The atmosphere is the real star of the show for me though. It is the coziest coffee shop I've come across in Denver.

A bit hard to find with only street parking available. Gluten free and vegan options. Serve local coffee and kombucha! Enjoyed visiting this place!

Cozy, welcoming coffee shop with creative ingredients ... Add coconut to your coffee and you'll get real coconut shavings, or choose the lavender for something unique. Yummy sandwiches - I tried the toasted one with sweet goat cheese and ham, sweet and savory.

Our barista looked like a Flume-listening bucket-hat wearing tattoo-bearing Urban Outfitters poster boy and I enjoyed that. His hipster flare matched this place's decor. It's like a cafe taken from a Wes Anderson movie-super kitschy-except maybe it's a little less clean cut than a Wes Anderson scene (70s couches that quite possibly are from the 70s based on how worn they are). (Our barista was very friendly, genuine and helpful BTW). There's a narrow and steep staircase that leads to the upstairs where you can lounge on a couch and enjoy your coffee, sit at the 60s table or go into the side room where 2nd hand clothes are sold (extremely random location for a thrift shop). There are also French-doors up on the 2nd floor that lead to an outdoor space with more tables and chairs. It's enclosed so there's not much of a view. Downstairs there are some 70s looking couches and TV dinner trays that you can pull out to enjoy your drink on. They have a ViewMaster toy next to an old metal, functioning, fan among other random decor that they have. I don't mean to digress so much into the atmosphere and ambience rather than focus on the food and drinks but if you're anything like me, the quality of the food or drink can greatly be enhanced or degraded by the environment you're in. Aesthetics is probably 70% of the dining experience. I'll honestly give this place 5 stars based on their honey-lavender vanilla tea latte alone. I don't think a drink screams "Brenda" more than that drink right there. It's utterly delightful and undeniably tasty. Now I've had tea lattes at dozens of other places but I still extremely appreciate it when it's offered on menus. Steamed frothy milk is such a comfort drink for me. I anticipate on getting more tea lattes in the future, particularly when the cold weather approaches. I heard this place's wifi is spotty so I wouldn't personally come here to do any hard-core studying. They also sell jams and other goods if you wish to get a gift.

Positives: -good service -makes me feel green, healthy, and earthy -great ambience -love all the little details that give it a "rustic" feel -small cafe feeling, seems like if you go there often, they will definitely know your name -food was pretty good Negatives: -it was a bit pricey, but I guess that's what you should expect for "healthier food" -service wasn't quite as amazing as I thought it would be Went here for breakfast. Got the oatmeal-$4. It came in a little jar, which I thought was strange but then realized you had to let it cook for awhile. The woman who took my order was very nice, but nothing out of the ordinary. She pointed me out to the back of the place where they had honey, liquid sugar, and other condiments. The oatmeal was pretty good, but it took awhile before I could eat it. At least I got it very quickly after I ordered. The best part about the place is the ambience. Feels just nice to be in there. They have all the details down. Sort of like Disneyland. Bottom line: This is a place my fiancée would love. For me it was just nice. I'm sure she would give it a five stars though. I would advise coming here at least once.

What a delightful treat this place is. Cute atmosphere the barista is always super friendly, quick, efficient and is in charge of everything going on in this place - takes orders makes food/drinks. The lavender latte was Delish makes me want to come here each day just for that. The cocunut pudding was a treat. First time having it and it was so filling but not too heavy. Was a great fresh start to the day. Wasn't too sweet or bland just the perfect taste and texture. I believe it is paleo and vegan which is awesome for all those vegans out there wanting something a little different. The atmosphere is so cute with an upstairs "boutique" and more seating. Great place if you want to try something new and different!

The tables upstairs are the perfect place to work or study. The music isn't as loud up there and there's a lot less distractions. All of the sandwiches are delicious and I use the yelp check in offer to get $2 off a sandwich and a drink.

Cozy spot, good vibe, friendly staff. Had the beefeater sandwhich which, I will warn you, POW Hot on the horseradish but I loved it. I also had the coconut chia pudding which was bangin! Surprisingly delicious for being vegan. Will be back for more of that.

This place is how cafes should be. The owners are just so freaking nice. It has a lot of great reviews and I'll just add to them. Minor complaints I see are about price and space. Price: the food/drinks are delicious and made with care. I'm a cheap ass mofo yet I still frequent the Weathervane whenever I'm in Denver. Support a local and awesome business. Space: This place is blowing up now. It's going to get somewhat cramped certain times of the day and you just gotta deal. I recommend making a friend and sitting anywhere there's an open seat. The clientele I've seen in here is a chill group as well as the staff. They make something with espresso and soda...I don't know what it's called but get that haha. And a breakfast burrito mmm. I'll be back as always.

The #2 stop on my CoffeeThesisProposal was Weathervane Cafe. I have never been here, and it's one of those places that I don't even want to rate because I love it too much to share. But, as it is my duty to help those who I love, I'm sharing. I was sold the moment I looked at the menu and saw carrot juice. Drink my vegetables? Yes! Absolutely!!! I have never been to a cafe that put so much love into a breakfast sandwich. Garnish in my salsa placed with love? Can I just say that I adore you, cute-as-a-button barista. Cold brew coffee? Ah, perfect. On top of the fantastic drink and food fare, there was the not-to-be-missed interior decor. It's like hanging out at your grandma's house, well, if you had a cool gradma anyway. Or maybe a grandma who liked boats. Or maybe a grandma who had really funky art books of french cats and a well-worn old-as-dirt copy of Infinite Jest, and... okay, maybe not a grandmother's house unless you're wicked lucky. But someone older and classier than my late 20s - early 30s friends, for sure. I want nothing more than to just snuggle in for a long afternoon of work or discussion or reading. Oh, and the wifi? WORKS. (Looking at you, DBC.)

A friend recommended this place, and I'm so glad I came! I was told to go upstairs, but it was so cozy by the counter that I just picked a seat close by. I had a lavender latte and toast with honey, both of which were very good. I noticed that they have a lot of flavors for lattes, and the barista told me that they make a syrups themselves. I'll definitely be back to try the other flavors. One of my favorite things about this place was the service. There were two baristas when I walked in. I was a little nervous at first because they looked like the kind of baristas that delight in making you feel stupid for asking questions. I was really, really wrong with that assumption. They answered all of my questions, and were totally cool with the toast and honey thing (it's not really on the menu). Upon sitting down, I learned that they also had extensive knowledge of my favorite time/universe leaping shows, such as 'Sliders' and 'Quantum Leap'. It's always a relief to discover that baristas are real people, and not just robots who happen to know more indie bands than you do. Anyway, the latte was super good, and the toast and honey was delicious. Before I left I decided to take a peek at the upstairs and I loved it! It's bright and warm and inviting! I noticed that there were quite a few outlets, and signs above them alerting guests that 'campers' are welcome which is great if you get caught up in a book and don't want to leave right after finishing your drink. I can't wait to visit again!

Adorable cafe with sandwiches, fresh pressed lavender lemonade, a wide variety of loose leaf teas and awesome selection of sweet treats too. Best casual lunch spot I've seen yet since in Denver and love the atmosphere of indoor or outdoor dining. This is a hidden gem I'm sure as it is just enough out of the way only the dedicated frequent I'm sure.

Quite, simple, amazing break from the daily insanity. Coffee is great and the breakfast burrito was just the right size to fill me up!

Rustic culture and homespun character for days at the Weathervane. It's perfect if you want to feel like you play in a bluegrass band for a morning. Great for an impressive breakfast date. But, I most often visit little cafes to get in some computer work time, and the Weathervane is a little too cozy to do that comfortably. Plus, they play their music a little loud to focus on the task at hand.

On my unique list in terms of Denver unique. Its an easy concept done well. Take a house. Repurpose it. Its still a house. It just does something else now. Great coffee, creative everything. There are unique gifts and interesting menu items. This time I just had coffee, but would like to go back and eat. Additionally, there is an upstairs which the indoor room seems echoey, so would make a good study room. Outside is a balcony great for overlooking 17th Ave on warmer days. Definitely repeatable... Did a random search for coffee shops near city park. This place was great! The vibe is organic vintage. Max occupancy 19. Free wifi with password. Cappuccino was decent & yogurt granola parfait was good until you got to the organic strawberry jam at the bottom... Yucky.

Do this my friends: come early. Order a coffee and egg sandwhich and you'll be set til lunch. Then do this: order the spicy beef sandwich for lunch. That's right - spicy beef. Do this: get a coffee refill after lunch. You get 1 free coffee refill. You're day should be shaping up about now. Also do this: talk to Alex - the hillbilly owner. Prolly the nicest thing about 17th street. If the coffee doesn't put you in a good mood, his charm sure will. High five weathervane.

Weathervane Cafe is a bit hard to find -- it's hidden in a somewhat old neighborhood in Cap Hill and it's basically a big house that was turned into a cafe. The cafe, once inside, has a very homey feel. Although it is a house, they've nicely turned it into a very intimate (but smallish) cafe. I'm a student and my primary purpose for visiting Weathervane was to get a few hours of studying in. Since the place is small, I was getting quite distracted by the amount of people + the tightness of the room. I'm a fan of the cafe, and I will go again, but probably next time just for enjoyment purposes- not when my purpose is concentrated studying.

If you've seen me before I've had my morning coffee, well, then I'm sorry. It's not a pretty sight and frankly, it's kind of a dangerous one. I stumbled into The Weathervane Café moments after they opened in desperate need of coffee before my yoga class next door. If I can barely manage to stand up without coffee, how the hell could I manage to bend and balance without it? That's right, I couldn't. I ordered an Americano, which was fantastic and served in a cute mug. I wished that I could have ordered a number of their vegetarian-friendly plates, such as their breakfast burrito, egg sandwich, or kale salad with coconut, but I had some yoga to do. Next time, I'll be ordering from the food menu, too. Oh, I also noticed that they sell Happy Leaf kombucha, which is the first spot that I've seen offering it. The space itself is just...perfect. And quiet. And vintage americana at it's well-curated finest. Not that this is really relevant, but the downstairs of the café looked just like one of my old friend's living rooms. The friend that had a knack for thrifting, finding gems, and was always much cooler than me. Looking forward to many returns.

Weathervane is an antique-y, hipster-y, crunchy coffee place where you always feel welcome. If you stay, you get your cold beverage in a mason jar, and get an iced lavender latte, yummm. So calming and delicious. I've had a few different drinks, baked goods and sandwiches as well. You really can't go wrong with any of the sandwiches. Great ingredients and you also get pretzels or cucumbers as a side. They carry Beet Box's, Glazed and Confused and house made pastries. They also have some shelves where they sell pickles, sometimes jewelry, very misc items but worth a look. Upstairs there is also a little store. I prefer to order and leave in the warm months because if the seating downstairs is taken, the upstairs is really warm. They have a small outside patio which is dog friendly. The people at the counter are always crazy nice.

This homey locals' breakfast spot has a mellow vibe and a small but yummy selection of light breakfast items. Best rooibos chai! Cool mugs, T-shirts and local Colorado gourmet foods for sale (like honey, chocolate bars and Colorado bitters). It's offbeat and very relaxing for breakfast.

This is such a super cute cafe. It reminds me so much of a place you would find in Portland, which is right up my alley. My husband and I each had a sandwich, I had the ham and berry sandwich. I never eat ham, and frankly the work just grosses me out, but reading the description of this sandwich, I just couldn't resist. And it was so good! The ham paired with goat cheese and cinnamon cranberries all squeezed together on a panini press was delish!! So yummy!! And I loved the cucumbers instead of chips. It was a perfect lunch. I enjoyed a hot green tea with it. My husband had the Italian turkey which he loved. I tried a bite and indeed, it was quite Italian. The salami really gave what would be an ordinary turkey sandwich a punch. He appreciated pretzels instead of chips too and he also enjoyed a hot tea. Weathervane is nearby my work, I'm going to have to see if they are open early because I'm thinking this would be a great place to stop by on the way home just to gather some thoughts and fill the belly. I have to mention too, that Weathervane won my heart when they served us our meals on the same plates my grandmother had. It seemed so fitting.

On the hunt for a place to study/work. Very comfortable chairs and tables. Lovely fireside indie music humming in the background. Plenty of nic nacs to check out when you need a brain break. It feels like a little laidback cottage you'd find in a secluded mountain town (but less granny, and more hipster).

Funky comfortable interior, wi-fi, an excellent breakfast burrito and (1)Lavender Latte and (2)Orange Clove Latte. If I lived near here, it would by my regular hangout for coffee'n'coding. But we just stopped here on our road trip for breakfast. We're always looking for the "chalkboard restaurants", the ones with fresh veggies and good art. (Tip: google for "vegan breakfast" and you can sometimes find such a gem.) Well, we're about done with our breakfast, and online-map-checking. Next landmark: I-70's Eisenhower Tunnel (10000 feet up and a mile long). Thanks Weathervane! Be back this way again someday.

I was working in the area and stopped in for lunch since they had a lot of vegetarian options. Definitely a hippie place but that's right up my alley. I ordered the TLT, soup of the day (it had a weird name) and a coconut Italian soda. The TLT and coconut soda were fantastic. I really loved the sandwich and could have eaten another one ( not because portion size was too small but because 8 months preggo and it was good!) the soup was interesting. Not bad but different/unusual. I think it had pears, chickpeas and carrots. Would absolutely go there again. Not the cheapest place to eat but still very good and quality ingredients.

First review on yelp, here goes... Stopped in on my way out of town after reading a Zagat review of best iced coffees in Denver. Set in a small unassuming house, Weathervane is a welcoming, rustic space filled with the aroma of fresh pastries. Old country records set the soundtrack in the otherwise quiet main room. We tried the iced vanilla bean latte and the pistachio bread, both which were fresh and delicious. Highly suggest this place.

The Weathervane Cafe is a pretty awesome place. The atmosphere is great, it's got a kitschy vibe to it, and the upstairs area/balcony are good places to relax and enjoy a cup of tea. I've tried the lavender latte, and while the taste is a bit too strong for me, it's still pretty delicious. Their chai tea is the best I've ever had! It's spicy, but not too spicy. It's kind of sweet, too, but the sweetness is very subtle. They serve their chai nice and foamy, and they can substitute the milk with almond milk. I've also had the TLT (tempeh, lettuce and tomato) and the Italian Turkey sandwich, and both are good. I'm not sure what type of bread they use, but I love it! The only issue I have with this cafe is how cramped it is, but it adds to the vibe here. Plus, they have a patio and a balcony you can escape to if you need some air.

This is a cool little spot. It's got all that quaintness, homeyness and kookiness that many a cafe seek to project but fail at. It helps that the place just appears to be someone's house reimagined as a coffee shop, so this adds to the inviting, cozy feel. When we arrived it was a one-man operation and I thought for sure he was going to be overwhelmed by the many orders for coffee, tea, sandwiches and the like. Impressively, he got us our cappuccino and a cortado just as quickly as any other coffee shop. The hummus plate, granola cup (perfect for little ones), and breakfast sandwich came out not long after. Even more impressive, the food was just outstanding. My breakfast sandwich had good seasoning and pepperiness so I felt it was money well spent. The hummus plate is a great combination of pretzel crackers, cucumbers topped with spices, and smooth creamy hummus. As we enjoyed our food and coffee, music played and other folks hung out, did work, or streamed in and out. All in all, a great little operation.

No matter what your perspective for food and cafés, you should try this place and to be honest, you would never regret it. The owner and the crew are awesome guys, very friendly and personable. The ingredients are usually organic and fresh. I ordered a breakfast burrito and it was good. At first, I find the taste new to my palate but after taking my second bite, I was able to distinguish the exploding taste of each ingredient inside my mouth. It was definitely a wonderful sensation!!! The place itself is wonderful as well. Kinda nerdy or a place for where hipsters gather but overall it has a nice feel to it. Just got my pay and I found myself craving for a nice, juicy steak. Elways was on my way home, hence making it an easy choice for me. Walked in around 8:40 and was seated after waiting for a few minutes. The wait service was great. I had wine, beer-battered onion rings for starters and a pepper soup, which was good. However, the porterhouse was disturbing. It was like a slab of meat they just messed up. It was burnt on the outside and leathery on the inside. The flavor is not balanced enough and it was dry. The steak really betrayed my trust, especially since I paid $57 for it

Very kitschy, but in a good way. Cute spot to meet up with your mother & speak in hushed voices. Not an ideal laptop spot, and that's AOK with me. There's plenty of spots for you to roll up & plug-in... but I don't think this is one of them.

I was excited to come here based on the food reviews, unfortunately I was really disappointed with the vibe & service. A friend and I came for the first time; we were in great spirits, and admittedly, had several questions, but the staff seemed totally uninterested in engaging in conversation. The food & coffee were good, a liitle pricey, but for a coffee shop/cafe the vibe really matters to me, and this place left us both feeling unwelcome.

I love the homey feeling of this little coffee shop, as well as all of the local goods and crafts for sale inside. My tea was alright, as was my boyfriend's latte. It is a little uncomfortable if you wanted to come hang out and talk to friends though, because the tables are very close together and a lot of people come here to work on their computers. Service was okay. Sandwiches weren't that good. I guess the four stars are mainly because I love the concept: tea inside a comfy hippie house.

My entire office visits Weathervane near-daily. They have a creative and excellent selection of hot drinks including a dreamy almond milk latte and some amazing teas. But where they really stand out over other coffee shops is the food - so much more than the usual selection of frozen burritos and oversweet baked goods, despite having the teeniest kitchen. They have great soups in the winter and creative grilled sandwiches, and the menu changes constantly. If you're a vegetarian, ask for the ham and berry chèvre with tempeh bacon in lieu of ham. Finally, the owners (Alex and Lindsay) and their sole employee are unfailingly great to talk to. One day last week I came in with a cold and Lindsay sent me away with a free cold-remedy teabag in addition to my order. It was probably the nicest moment of my day and explains why their place is always full of people.

This place is down the street from my apartment and I spent an entire day working there a few weeks ago. Starting the morning with a lavender latte (sounds strange, is AMAZING), and continuing to eat food throughout the day, everything is very tasty and fresh. Had a lovely sandwich for lunch and they had gluten free bread which was great to see. Atmosphere is really nice--very nice staff.

Once upon a time, there was a hungry girl on a sleepy afternoon. She wandered up to the nearest shelter and opened the door hoping to find something to fill her belly. Upon entering the small cottage, enchanting indie music filled her ears and adorable design cuteness delighted her eyes. Curiosity peaked as she explored the menu written on a board up high. What fine morsels! What lovely nibbles! Do they have lavender lattes? Why yes! "I'd like the turkey sandwich. Do you recommend a side?" she said. The fine bearded gentleman barista recommended, "I'm really liking the cole slaw lately." So she tried the cole slaw. And she was so happy. Her sandwich had soft bread with a light crisp on the crust and elegant fillings that made her tastebuds happy. The cole slaw was the best she ever had in her entire life and the lavender latte she sipped as she skipped down the street was so delightful it brought a smile to her face and she lived happily ever after. The end.

I am absolutely in love with this place! I don't even know where to begin. It's a vintage designed cafe with a medley of chairs and tables with a very inviting feel that makes you wanna just stay there all day. Their coffee and tea are absolutely delicious. I have yet to try their food. I will definitely have to go back. Upstairs they have a tiny vintage store and more seats. :) The staff is great, helpful and very knowledgeable of the menu. Ask him anything and he'll definitely give you a great recommendation. They keep the place very clean too. That's definitely a plus. :) They also have adorable outside seating. If you've never been, try it out!

Went here yesterday and the food was amazing. I had an awesome veggie sandwich and my friend loved his food as well. However I found it really irritating that they don't bring you your food. We literally sat 3 feet from the entrance to where they prepare the food and we had to get up and get it...seriously it was within arms reach. Pretty stupid but would still return for the awesome food.

This is currently rating as one of my favorite coffee shops in Denver. It's cozy and quaint, kind of like having coffee and working at my favorite aunt's house. That is, if my favorite aunt was out of a novel and had a super cute house that served delicious Yerba Mate Lattes and Glazed and Confused Donuts. They have a small menu of savory items if you are looking for a bite of lunch, nothing too crazy, but the sandwich I ordered was quite good. They also sell the Real Dill pickles if you are a fan of those and looking for an outlet to purchase them. With the free Wi-Fi, friendly folks, and coziness of the space I will definitely be back, again and again.

The Weathervane is such a gem! The owners and staff here are super friendly (no attitude ever) and always give great service. The coffee and tea drinks are top notch (I personally love their Rooibos Latte) and the food items are super delicious too (try the spicy beef sandwich). You can tell a lot of time, thought and consideration went into their menu. Plus they sell locally made goods as well (incense, bitters, teas, candles, etc). If are looking for a space that is super inviting and warm-its here!

If I were a local, this would be my coffee shop. What's not to love? The coffee is consistenly incredible, the people are super nice, the space is charming, and the pastries are delicious. I didn't have a chance to try any of their food, but I'm sure it's also top notch. All-in-all one of my fondest memories of my brief stay in Denver.

I absolutely adore this place. Weathervane's Italian turkey sandwich is my new comfort food and I dig the Colorado beet cola. Definitely a fun place to sit and read or work all morning or afternoon.

Good breakfast burritos, coconut chia pudding (yum) and black lavendar tea! I really enjoyed this little oasis! The only reason I gave it 4 stars was I felt like I wasn't hip enough for this crowd. Hipster mountain themed. They were very accommodating though and I will be back! Fun little shopping while you wait as well!

I adored this little shop. I'm not even a coffee drinker, and I loved that they had some fun drinks even for me. The lavender lemonade was delicious and refreshing. Their breakfast and lunch sandwiches go above and beyond your average coffee shop. The ingredients and flavors were spot on. And the owner was so very charming.

I discovered this little place just a few blocks from my apartment. It's a super cute coffee shop with a little patio out front. If you're just driving by you might mistake it for a house. I ordered a breakfast burrito and a caramel latte and both were fantastic. The man working behind the counter (I think he's the owner?...) was very friendly and helpful. I ended up staying long after my burrito was gone, just sitting on the patio reading my book. Such a cute and cozy place! Definitely worth trying out :0)

The cutest cafe in Denver! I had to try the lavender latte AND lemonade - both delicious. Plenty of seating here too, I cant wait to come back and hang.

The pros are that place is adorable, the staff is friendly, they make great coffee and healthy tasty food. The cons are that you only get one refill of coffee in your tiny cup, and it takes forever to get service (there's only one person doing everything). Don't come here if you're in a hurry or want a coffee to go. If you have time to spend it's a perfect place to come and relax or get some work done on your laptop.

Do not be put off by the perhaps less-than-inviting exterior. This is a clean, quiet cafe that values highly the quality that it serves: excellent coffee and tea, and sandwiches made to order from fresh ingredients. Prices are very reasonable ($10 for a sandwich and a generous helping of soup? Yes, please). I am not a vegetarian and give hippie restaurants a wide berth, but I am a sucker for fresh veggies so I went with a vegetarian meal despite some very appealing meat options. The Tomato Coconut Curry Stew was delicious, with just the right amount of kick. The Veggie Sandwich had house-pickled red onions and homemade hummus, as well as various fresh veggies. The employees were awesome: helpful, expedient, and genuine. Great music for lovers of classic rock, as we all ought to be. The interior is eclectic but clean. It was a delightful experience, and I am grateful to the locals who recommended it to me.

The Weathervane Cafe is hands down the cutest coffee shop I have ever been to. The two story, historic building is dripping with creative decor, art, and trinkets to look at. The coffee tastes damn good, as do the egg sandwiches. Though the service wasn't the best, I have stopped expecting much out of the baristas in Denver - most seem moody and unwilling to chat. Good thing that won't stop me from coming back to enjoy the adorable Cafe!

Love the homey feel of this place and the unique menu. The whole place is so cozy. There is also a mini vintage shop upstairs. Great place to hang out! Love the staff!!!!

This place gives off the coziest vibe for a coffee shop that I've seen in awhile. You can always go and find a table or a cozy seat and sink into a book for awhile. I haven't seen this place busy which makes it a great place to relax. I especially enjoy this place during the winter. I haven't tried the food but the coffee is pretty good. They hide the creamer behind the counter so if you're a person who takes cream with your coffee like me, make sure to ask.

Came here the other day for a late lunch based on the good Yelp reviews. I ordered the "spicy beef" sandwich and a french press coffee. There was one guy working the entire cafe, but he was friendly and kept up with orders, so that was fine. I was promptly served my good french press coffee and my sandwich followed shortly thereafter. The sandwich was served with a choice of sides. I chose the pretzels. The sandwich was gourmet. It was served on ciabatta bread but was smallish. The pretzels were good and were not your standard bagged, grocery store fare. They were good. This would be a nice place to bring your significant other for lunch or to just come hang out with a cup of coffee studying. I would definitely recommend.

Ok, admittedly the star is for the service, atmosphere and very slow kitchen. Food itself if served promptly could have been three stars for a sandwich joint. We visited on a weekday lunch time, not crowded, no counter line, so things should have run smoothly. At the register we ran our credit card and were prompted to add tip. Despite the lack of any smile or pleasantry with our service I elected to add 15% not knowing how the service would work. A full ten minutes later the employee came outside to our table to tell us that one of our sandwiches was ready. I then had to go inside to get the sandwich. why did i tip and wouldn't it have been simpler if he'd just brought out the sandwich? Ten minutes later, same drill with our second sandwich. Really fun watching each other eat and having lunch take twice as long as it should. We've been to kids lemonade stands with better service. Skip this sketchy place and spend your dollars elsewhere!

I was looking for a light lunch and, as it turned out, Weathervane was the perfect fit. I got the hot ham & goat cheese sandwich on gluten free bread with seasoned cucumbers on the side. Due to the gluten free bread, the entire sandwich was small and it probably could have used more ham. I appreciate the healthy and unique option of fresh veggies on the side and the cucumbers were nice and lightly seasoned with dill, salt and pepper. I also got an iced tea, which does not come with any refills. Luckily, the 15% off I received with my first Yelp check-in made my wallet feel better. Be prepared to wait for your order. There was only one person working at around 1:00 PM on a weekday so it will take a while if it's busy. While I waited, I walked up the steep, narrow staircase to explore the second floor. There are a couple of couches and a balcony with small tables up there, as well as a room that houses a vintage clothing shop. I thought it was kind of an odd location for such an enterprise and if there was any advertising of its existence beyond the two small signs I saw inside the coffeehouse, I missed it. The shop's selection is limited by the tiny space and the prices of the things I looked at were too high. Overall, the space inside Weathervane is small and cramped. I kind of like the kitschy vibe but some of the obviously secondhand furniture is really worn. There is a small patio out front as well that I would have taken advantage of if the weather had been more cooperative. I probably won't be back for lunch but it's nice to know there's another place close to work where I can grab a Bhakti chai or a mini Humble Pie.

Another fun local shop. This place has a fun vibe and a cool ambiance. They have been open since November of 2012 and is located in an old house on 17th street. The second floor is for seating. It's all broken up into different rooms and there is even a little patio. They have fun little sofas and vintage type tables and the sort. The coffee is good with just the right crema. And they give you the double shot small! The Weathervane has has wonderful potential as a great shop in the neighborhood. They even serve good Colorado sodas including Birch Beer, which is my favorite. They support local places as well I had a cherry pie from Humble Pie Co. You can't go wrong there!

Weathervane is a diamond in the rough! It's got a nice, chill albeit hipsterish vibe with friendly service and a variety of foods for any diet (vegan, paleo, vegetarian, gluten-free, or omnivorous). It feels like visiting granny's home with the old school couch and delectable goodies but no old person smell. Their food and drink selection is nice. Their teas are diverse and pretty unique. It's evident that much care and attention was made in designing the menu and cafe. The peach melt is sweet and toasty, and the side of seasoned cucumbers was cool and refreshing. Weathervane is a great place to study, read, or chat with friends.

Stopped in to get a little work done during the afternoon. This review is only for the drink and the ambiance, as I didn't eat anything. The barista was pleasant, and the cambric I ordered was good. As for the ambiance, everything was vintage and cute, and the place is very twee. It felt a little cramped in the downstairs area to me, and the music was a bit too loud to concentrate. Up a very steep set of stairs and there is a nice open, airy room with tables where you could get some work done. It was quiet up there as well- you could hear the music from downstairs but they don't have speakers playing music in the upstairs area. The wifi signal was on the slow side, and there were not many outlets, but I was still able to use my computer.

  • Aaron V.

It's small and unassuming, but a great spot for coffee/tea, a meal, or to do work. The menu has nice variety (accommodates multiple diets, if you're into that), and everything is really well executed. The wifi has always been reliable, the atmosphere is pleasant, and the staff friendly. Good work!

This was one of my favorite spots in Denver. It has a fairly small menu compared to other breakfast spots but that means that everything is always fresh and on point. I had the egg sandwich with cheese on ciabatta and my friend had the breakfast burrito - thumbs up for both. We went right near opening time on the weekend so it was pretty empty which made it feel like this secret hidden cafe in the mountains or something - mightve just been the grey weather and Bon Iver though... The service was also really nice and genuinely friendly. Lavender shortbread was a delicious snack for later, and they also sell a bunch of 'quirky' jams and bitters which I really wanted to get for friends back home but...alas, no liquids over 3.5 fl oz in carry-ons :(

  • Rachel A.

This is a really great little place to sit and chill for a few hours, working, chatting with a friend, whatever. It feels really comfy inside with couches and rugs and cute art all around and there's a great balcony on the second level. Added bonus? The internet works better than in any coffee shop I've ever been to.

The general decor and upstairs vintage shop are a hipster's wet dreams. The tempeh sandwich's heavy on the mayonnaise.

Oh, I so wanted to like this place. Unfortunately, they have "somewhat of a mild problem" with the oven or panini maker- the entire place, including the upstairs is very hazy with smoke and smells like smoking oil + burnt toast. My eyes were watery, and my hair smelled. I couldn't even enjoy what looked like a delicious chai latte because of all the smoke. I'll be back if this problem is fixed, but until then, no way!

Have a delicious brunch while pretending you're on the set of a Wes Anderson movie! Had the Beefeater Sandwich as well as the ginger beer/Bhakti Chai mix, and both were delicious. Next time I'll come with my laptop, because there's a huge space upstairs where I could get a lot done.

I adore this place! I spent a few days writing - if you're looking for a good place to hole up, bring your earbuds and go to town. I've had a few different drinks, but my favorite was the incredibly indulgent gingerbread latte. Holy. Yum. Allow yourself the whipped cream and they'll top it with a cutie patootie gingersnap. It's very much like the Humble Pie setup, which they also serve there! You pay and sign on an iPad, but they take cash too. The decor is super adorable, too. And you get a little more than what you feel like you pay for - I think the breakfast burrito is delicious and fresh-tasting. Yay! Only four stars because I do have to say that when the sun comes in, it covers a really large amount of the cafe and the glare makes it hard to see. But seriously, if that's my only complaint, that's saying something. The owners are adorable, and fun people sighting happens, too. I'm so glad this is in walking distance from my house!

The coffee was really good, the baked goods only so-so. But everything is priced a little too high, and the service was unbelievably, unbearably slow. If you have some time to sit down for 40 minutes and are looking for a microwaved egg sandwich (or a truly exceptional latte), this is your place. Don't expect to pop in before work and grab a coffee to go unless it's a slow day.

Great place! Homey decor, very friendly service, great music, free wifi. Not at all crowded on a Sunday evening. I had the river tea (something like that) and it was very tasty. Kind of earthy and with a hint of mint.

I felt like I was stepping into a scene from Portlandia. The atmosphere is very hip, creative and cozy. They have some nice, local edible options and the drinks are delicious. I've enjoyed a lavender soda and hot chai there on separate occasions. Both hit the spot. The staff are kind and friendly.

Went here for lunch and ordered the Italian turkey sandwich with the "french press" coffee. The sandwich was pretty good and they allowed for substitutions if you don't like a particular condiment. I'm not a fan of cucumbers or pretzels but having to choose one I took the pretzels, they were pretty much the same thing you can buy from Walmart but it really made no difference to me. The house coffee was okay, nothing really to praise, but understand I didn't have any of the specialty coffees. The only reason I gave a 4 instead of a 5 is because the website advertises a free refill and thinking that you could get multiple like many other coffee spots but instead you just get one. There is additional seats and a retro shop upstairs apparently but I didn't check it out. The bottom floor isn't that large so if your a group probably not the best place to go, but I can't comment on the upstairs obviously. The store itself is pretty nice and clean and they sell random things in the cupboards, and there is also an outside patio area for you to sit that was pretty nice but it was a bit cold to be sitting outside without a jacket. The service was top notch and really nice, they explained anything if needed and gave recommendations. DO NOT park behind the shop or you will get towed, its only parking on the street in front, but no worries there is sufficient space that you shouldn't have a problem.

We really did not enjoy this place. The sandwiches were so bitter they were basically inedible. My wife is vegetarian and obviously eats a lot of greens. She couldn't finish her sandwich as it was packed with what appeared to be dandelion greens that overpowered anything that might have been good. My sandwich was like sawdust with horse radish. Way too much horseradish! I love horseradish but this was too much. I'm guessing the positive reviews have to to more with ambience. If you're a super hipster you will love the ambience. The food just didn't pass muster. We left and ate elsewhere.

I love this place! The owners are so sweet, their iced coffee is super smooth, and the oatmeal is my Sunday treat. And not douchey like st marks can be sometimes. I almost didn't want to leave a review because I don't want everyone finding out about my spot.

Best Americano in town and they have Corvus roasted beans. Food is tasty - they have both sweet and savory menu options. Atmosphere is comfortable and has an upstairs so can be a great place to study or read. Staff is friendly and are great baristas.

Looking for some kind of breakfast dish, I ordered the oatmeal. They take a bunch of instant oatmeal, put it in a jar with nuts, coconut and dried fruit, etc and then add boiling water! What a disappointment. Who eats oatmeal out of jar, anyway?

This place was cute, and could really be on my way to work in the morning, so I wanted it to be awesome so I could become a regular. Two drawbacks for me, though: 1) There's no meat for breakfast, even in the breakfast burrito or on the breakfast sandwich (they did have meats like turkey, salami, etc. for lunch sandwiches, so it's not like the whole place was vegetarian); and 2) the coffee wasn't strong -- I ordered a medium Americano, but I feel like it only had one shot of espresso and mostly tasted bitter. I came home and added bacon to my breakfast burrito, and made myself a new cup of coffee. But the barista was nice, they take your order on an iPad, and some of the other foodstuff looked quite good. I just need a good slice o' bacon in the morning, so if they got that sorted out I'd give it another shot.

Adorable little place. I had an egg sandwich with my coffee. It was ok. I'd probably order it again if I was there and hungry, but I wouldn't make a trip back there for the food. I would go back for the vibe, the nice baristas, and the coffee.

I wanted a sandwich this afternoon and thought I would try this place out. It is tucked away in an old house on 17th St. and I loved the atmosphere. Small shop feel to it. Decorated in a thoughtfully rustic kind of style. I got the veggie sandwich and it was delicious. The bread really stuck out. Not sure where they get it from but it was great. Service was good as well. All in all a really well put together little cafe. I will be back.

Love this shop. Super local and awesome coffee. Their standard cup of joe is french press, not drip so you are always sure to be getting a fresh cup. That sometimes means you have to wait a few min to get your coffee but it's worth the wait. Donuts are delicious. Can't speak for the sandwiches. The downstairs is pretty small. Maybe 4-5 tables. There was a cool little vintage shop upstairs and more seating including a couch and balcony for those sunny days you want to kick back.

I love this place! I live nearby and this has become my go-to stop, even moreso than St. Mark's even though St. Mark's is closer. Weathervane has good coffee and great pastries (I really like the Lavender Shortbread), but the staff's friendliness and the cafe's ambiance are what set it apart. It can be a bit slow if there are several people ordering, since there is often only one employee, but that is OK. This isn't a grab-your-coffee-and-hurry type of place. It's much more of a relaxed vibe, like visiting a friend's house for coffee. Very cozy inside, perfect for days when it's snowing, with a couch as well as tables and chairs. And I love their little patio when the weather is nice and I often bring my dog and tie him at the "dog parking" area and sit on the patio with him drinking an iced coffee. They have cool little things for sale as well (bandanas, t-shirts, mugs, cards, etc.)

  • Deborah L.

This place is really cute and cozy inside; I love the decor and the vibe. Coffee drinks were amazing. I am not sure if it is just the coffee beans they use (Corvus), but we all could not stop mentioning how much we loved our drinks. Our group ordered the breakfast burrito, the TLT and the savory pie. Everything tasted homemade and delicious. However, I tend to fill up fast and found myself actually wanting more. (Esp. with the burrito...definitely not what you normally expect out of a dish like this...which is fine, just a little unexpected.) My one suggestion would be to include a side of potatoes or a spring salad with the menu selections. Overall this place is great and I could see myself going back on mornings when I just want to zone out with a paper or have a more casual breakfast and not have to fight the bottomless mimosa crowds (which I admit I am occasionally a part of).

The number of times I make a detour from my normal route to visit Weathervane is a bit ridiculous... I love the space, people, and coffee. (donuts on the weekend are pretty bomb too.) My girlfriend claims that Alex makes the best chai in Denver though I stick to my coffee and wouldn't know.

When I moved to Denver a few months ago I toured just about all the cafes to find my favorite go-to spot. Weathervane won me over instantly with it's homey cozy atmosphere and vintage aesthetic. Located in a beautiful old house, it has been renovated into a functional welcoming coffee shop with delicious coffee and a wonderful wide-range food menu. Plenty of seating at tables, couches, the outside patio, or in a quieter upstairs room. Even has a vintage shop upstairs in a corner nook, which makes this destination even dreamier!

Pure, simple, yummy healthy food. The women that owns this place puts simple attention detail to her recipes. I love the home grown feel and commitment to quality. They make their own lavender syrup for tea; how cool is that? They offer options from beet box but, I recommend ordering anything made by the owner. I love their hummus plate, kale coconut salad & magic bars.

Probably too close to St Mark's, the Weathervane is a top quality coffee shop, but in the five times I've been there, it's been almost empty. The TLT (tempeh-lettuce-tomato) is one of the best sandwiches in town: Fluffy ciabatta bread, which seems to be half of a small loaf--ie just slices of bread, stuffed with the usual suspects and housemade pickles; the seasoned cucumbers really complete the sandwich. A great breakfast option. Someday I might try the samosa burrito. As for espresso, they serve a ristretto shot, which is a shorter, less bitter shot than a full espresso pull--had to look that up; I'm not gonna just leave that out. They will pull the espressso shot, but I'm sure they think it defeats the purpose. The cappuccino is a tiny gem, worth sitting down for while they make your food; its presentation and flavor reminds me of the tasty, standard coffee I've had in Europe. Hope the traffic picks up for them.

This place is super cute. As soon as you walk in it has a very chic comfy feel to it. The employees are really nice. The coffee is some of the best I have had around town. The food is really fresh and unique. There is also some really fun homemade jewelry. I bought a necklace a couple months ago and have gotten a lot of complements on it. I will be going back again soon. I would recommend this place to a friend.

The menu is amazing, offering something for everyone and the list of coffee, tea and imaginative beverages made it really difficult to choose. Wonderful atmosphere for sitting quietly and working or catching up with friends. The super cute decor is a Mid-Century Modern wonderland and the staff/owners are really on top of their game. We enjoyed the ham & goat cheese, spicy beef and veggie sammies and the Nutella Italian soda was so yummy I've been day dreaming about it for days.

Dear hipsterfied, self-righteous counter man at Weathervane- No, $8.50 for two donuts is not reasonable. Unless there's a damn gold bar in the middle. And being smug about it doesn't help your case. The prices here are NOT reasonable. Why you would spend time in this overpriced concrete jungle is beyond me.

Favorite cafe I've found in Denver. SO cute. Nicest barista ever. Had a banging sandwich with cinnamon goat cheese. The Bhakta chai was to die for. Stayed a while and did some studying...well definitely be back again. Probably tomorrow.

Put a bird on it, much? These people were beyond Portlandia-pretentious! I was really excited for a cozy little cafe, but I guess I wasn't "cool" enough to be treated well by the staff. Sorry I don't ride a fixed gear bike or wear thrift store dresses. Anyway, the food wasn't even that good-- my breakfast burrito sucked. Will never go again, even though its in my neighborhood. THIS CAFE IS OVER!

I knew nothing about the Weathervane Cafe, had only noticed it when driving by. I loving having no expectations and then being pleasantly surprised! Actually, pleasantly surprised is an understatement- I'm in LOVE with this place! So many fun details- well decorated, local Dram bitters for sale, necklaces for sale (just to name a few). Anyway, we ordered our sandwiches and while we were waiting, a donut appeared on our table. I damn near died. The donut was amazing and involved bacon. Just when I thought my endorphin level couldn't rise any higher, I received my sandwich. Just amazing. Large portion stuffed with quality ingredients. Also, the person who took our order and made our sandwiches was probably the nicest human in the world. He had a gigantic grin from ear to ear the entire time. It was just a great experience. I 100% plan on frequenting the Weathervane often. I wish all dining experiences could be similar to what I encountered today. Thank you!

I absolutely adore this place. I walked inside, looked at the layout and decor and then squealed in delight. Not out loud squealing, but still. Wood floors, great vintage Americana knick knacks and art and cool furniture. They use local coffee from Corvus and have savory pies from Humble Pie.. They also have various treats from . Beet Box for you vegans. I had a delicious mocha and baked donut. My mocha was delivered in a vintage coffee cup. The woman working, who I assume was a co-owner, was friendly and helpful. There is more seating upstairs, with lots of great corners to curl up with a good book and some coffee. There are many great coffee houses here in Denver and this is another to add to that list. I can' t wait to go back.

It's nice to have a coffee shop close to where I live that is reasonably priced, locally owned, and not jammed full of unwashed, aging hipsters that won't leave you alone (yes, St. Mark's, I am referring to you). If you like a little peace, and a good selection of food and drink, this is definitely the place for you!
