This place is so awful. I hate writing bad reviews for places...wait no I don't. It's funny people call this a dive bar. I'd consider it faux dive, but its not even that honestly. You can play a fun game here though, take a shot every time a bunch of retards sing some classic rock song that for some reason just became popular again. Such as Journey's "Don't Stop Believing." You will be blacked out in twenty minutes. I get it, its fun for some people to yell constantly and call each other fags and flex arms and shit but not for this guy. I'm seriously terrified of getting beat up here. Us long hairs know when we're not wanted. Staffs cool, people who come here are just obnoxious as shit. Beers cheap, atmosphere is like that of a someone who didn't ever get accepted to a frat and its a total bro fest. Yet, my buds come here. So I will be seen here again...and again. You'll find me outside smoking, my one safe haven.

Monday Monday dah dah dah dahdah dah. I am a Big fan of this place, both for pre punk concert greatness across the street at the Marquis, and for after Rockies games. This occasion was for part of my sister's 21st bday bar hop. Awesome deal on Mondays, $2 you call its, meaning any drink you choose for $2 bucks, shots, Long Islands, good brew, whatever. Great atmosphere, tenders are quite overwhelmed every time I come, as they have a 360 degree bar and a ton of people. But you get your drink and they haven't forgotten me once.

Yeah, it does get kind of "college." But also gets kind of "laid-back and not overly crowded before Rockies games." And most of the time it gets "the staff is super friendly and attentive." Every time I've gone to GG it has been to have a few beers and sometime to eat before heading to a Rockies game. I've never really "gone out" there. So I'm sure that my opinion of the bar is a little bit different than some people's view of the place. But, as a place to go before a ball game? This is becoming one of my go-to bars. It is a little bit farther away from Coors Field, but this extra block or two makes the pre-game experience a little bit more bearable. It's not packed beyond all belief (Falling Rock Tap House and Great Divide Brewing Company...again...this isn't really thier fault...), the staff is actually paying attention (Jackson's), the staff is not openly hostile towards customers (Sports Column), it's not too "nice" (Breck Brew in LoDo).

Huh? What? I can't hear you? Oh that's because the music was WAY too loud. Maybe I'm just old? I used to love this place when I was in college. Maybe it was the cheap beer? Maybe it was the flip night? Whatever it was...you've lost that lovin' feelin'...

I visited this bar while on a trip to Denver, so I am-- by no means-- a regular... BUT I loved this bar. Plenty of space, so you're not shoved against the smelly guy who has been there since noon. Giant Jenga in the corner makes for a nice time. And there is a giant bear propped up, wearing a hockey jersey...so I ask you, what's not to like? It just seemed like a go-to bar that you could always rely on to grab a beer, find a table and make bad decisions, er... have a great time!

    (4)
  • Aaron G.

Table of Giant Jenga! Thursday is the night to go! Pretty good wings for 25cents a wing $1 glasses of rolling rock (after 8pm)

  • D.Johann H.

"This...is...the..most...intense...game...of...Jenga...ever." So shouted our friend as he witnessed his girlfriend remove a plank from the GIANT JENGA set and gracefully place the piece a good foot or so above her head. This is a great place to unwind with old friends or to make new ones. I think this a great bookend bar: a place to start your night before you head out to other places. Then return at the end of the night when you are soused enough to realize the person that invented giant jenga must be more ingenious than Mark Zuckerberg. I ordered PBRs all night for $2.50 a pint, played air hockey, and watched people having a great time with the jukebox. This wood-panelled, unique spot is just south of Market on 20th, but it feels worlds away from the sardine cans that are LoDo's and the Cowboy Lounge on the weekends.

Cheapest drinks in LoDo. Dive bar and the service was so so, but 3 stars alone for having High Life Light! The bear in the bar is so drunk he can't move...

    (4)
  • Michael F.

If you want to be in LoDo and don't want to wait in a line to get in, this place is great. It is loud, sometimes takes a little while to get a drink, but the drinks are incredibly cheap. Pose either in the photo booth or with the taxidermic grizzly and enjoy yourself. You're already downtown avoid the pretentiousness in most places downtown.

Awesome happy hours, great burger night. We had a group of about 8 people come in for happy hour one night and had a great time. Cheap drinks, good burgers, and friendly service. Me likey

  • Kassim D.

if you've got a tight budget and can put up with the level of noise, this is where you go. well drinks are 3-4 bucks..not for the connoisseur, but know what you're going for: cheap drinks and a college-like atmosphere during the weekends... during the week, this spot is completely different - good bar food, quick , friendly service - not too loud. good place to get your buzz going and not blow your wad ( of cash) too early in the night...

AWESOME DIVE!! GREAT PRICES! FREE popcorn!! I like coming here on monday nights! or before or after a rockies game. You come here first and foremost to get sloppy for a REASONABLE PRICE! pompous prude pretentious peeps need not apply!! Great people watching with all the randoms that come in, there's a randomly cool stuffed bear that people can't seem to get away from. Just be careful, there are homeless people panhandling in the area, ignore them or they'll just keep coming back drunk college folk. Come here to get sloppy on the cheap, nothing more, nothing less!!

  • J K.

LOVED this bar!!! Cheap drinks, giant jenga AND beer pong! Plus, we got everyone to play flip cup at the beer pong table. Only room for improvement are the women's bathrooms.

  • Kendra R.

An hour before the Rockies game on a Friday night, we met a few friends at the Giggling Grizzly for some pregame beers. 2 dollar domestic drafts and wells ain't shabby, nor is the free popcorn....mmm salt! The place wasn't packed (yet?), laid back decor of wood, condiments in old 6 pack containers, and a stuffed Grizzly wearing an Av's jersey. No dress code, since there seemed to be good variety of peeps knocking a few back and watching the handful of games presented on multiple TV screens. Where were the barely legal drinking and preps I was warned about? I'd come back for a few drinks, don't know if I'd order the food.

  • Sarah M.

This place is alright. Pretty crowded, loud, etc. Nothin' too special. Good prices, compared to its surrounding bars for sure. Definitely a reliable place to go if you're downtown with some friends.

    (2)
  • James M.

Me and some friends went for their "Special Wings" night and they were out, so we ordered another item, and they were out of that too!! I was disappointed in them not having a backup deal or something else to offer. Plus my soup, which was my appetizer, came out AFTER my meal....if I ever go again, it will because there is nothing else open.

    (2)
  • J K.

Fun place in general. Good drink specials, food is tasty and often well-priced, and staff is fun. Not a place I'd go out of my way to get to, but for baseball games and being in the neighborhood at times, I like it fine enough.

    (3)
  • Craig E.

If I was 21 (or younger) and wore my hat backwards and said 'BRAH' a lot then I would have given the Griz more stars...that being said, I'm not, so it gets two, the one redeeming factor is that the drinks are cheap, when you are at a place that charges $4 for two Colorado Cool-Aids you certainly can't complain about the drink prices. Well, maybe you can when it takes you 20 minutes to get one... Highly recommended for underage drinking (except when they have a cop checking IDs, which is frequent) and those who use the word 'BRAH' as a noun, adjective, verb, and pretty much everything else!

    (2)
  • Jess G.

Probably the most laid back bar in downtown. Drinks are cheap and the staff is quick. During baseball season, the Grizzly is a must for some pregame shots and beer. If you like loud music, sports, and all types of people, this place is for you. It is one of my favorite places simply because it is a nice escape from the trendy bars a few blocks away.

    (4)
  • Jake B.

Thy say this is the place for "cheap drinks, good times". I agree. Monday is the best deal downtown. $2 u call it's. It doesn't include the very top shelf stuff but plenty of higher end choices. These r some of the best bartenders in the biz. Even when slammed busy u won't wait that long 4 a drink. Food is average bar fair and a good stop on ur way 2 the Rockies game. Tuesday night isn't to shabby with it being dollar tacos and $3 u call it's. $1.50 burgers on Wednesday sometimes draws a full house along with 25 cent wings on Thursday. Good stuff!!

    (4)
  • Tony D.

Come on. Are the owners even trying anymore? This place has become one big public restroom. 2 bums blocking the front door. 3 wasted bums at the bar that won't pay their tab. Guy next to my buddy free falls off the bar stool and lands on his face. The floors and tables are filthy. The bathrooms are just ridiculous. So bad.

So after reading quite a few negative reviews, I feel like I have to post my praises to the Grizzly. Typically I'm a dive-bar, cheap beer kinda gal, so I typically avoid this particular area of Denver (think Lodos, Sport's Column, Brother's). Not that there aren't nights when I love getting hammered, but Giggling Grizzly does not, in my opinion, fit that particular Chad-filled stereotype. I can't speak for every weekend, but I do go every Thursday for wings. There is a good mix of girls and guys (not muffin-tops, thank you very much), and the pool table/air hockey stays relatively empty. I like the placement of the tvs, so whenever we want to watch the game, it doesn't matter where in the bar we are. Also, the wings are good and the cheapest in town ($.25), and are washed down by $1 Rolling Rocks. No, you don't want to go here for Martini's and class, but it is by no means a real dive bar, or even a college bar. Just people having a good time because they can actually AFFORD to have a good time with the low prices. I also agree with everyone about the bartenders. After only a handful of visits, Matty remembered my name and helps me as soon as I walk up to the bar - always great service from all the guys there.

  • Rachel C.

This place has cheap drinks and less douchebags than most of the bars around it, but it's still packed with them. If you are a girl who likes to dress scandalously and get free drinks, this place could really be up your alley. Put it this way - it's a better option than LoDo's, but you could do a lot better.

    (2)
  • Amy G.

very small bar, but the crowd is a nice change. There seems to be a lot of younger college students, but there is a good mix of older 20 somethings in there as well. The music played was good. The dj rocked it out and seemed to feel what the crowd wanted. The bartenders are waaayyyy busy, but they seem very observant to your needs. I liked this bar because he guys in here seemed a bit more classy (no butt grabbing...believe it or not that's hard to find!) and the ladies had just as much class. It's the typical lodo bar where all the 18 year olds are hanging at. I like this place. It's small but still enough of a crowd to get in some good people watching.

  • Nicole M.

This place used to be and might still be one of my FAVORITE bars downtown! When I used to frequent this bar a few years back my friends used to DJ on the weekends so there was always a huge group of us and great music. I recently went here over 4th of July weekend with a large group and we had a BLAST. Drink specials were great (we opted for the vodka specials), the waitress was nice and attentive (even tho the place was packed) and now they have a beer pong table where the DJ stage used to be. There is also a pool table and an air hokey table inside. The only gripes I had were 1. that the music was SO loud that we had to scream across the table to talk to one another - something I could and did live with and 2. The women's restroom needs some maintenance as some of the doors didn't shut properly. But even on a busy night like 4th of July weekend the drinks came fast and were made strong and the tab at the end of the night didn't break the bank. Can't wait until we meet again GG!

out of all the bars i've been to in downtown denver, this one was my favorite. it was more divey than the others, which i like. it smelled a bit like stale beer which isn't my favorite but i've come to accept it :) the best part of the night was when i was sitting at the bar, and this guy came up and asked the bartender if he could drink his beer out of the glass skull sitting behind the bar. she said sure and poured him a beer, then came back a minute later and said, sorry i'm new, i didn't know this skull was reserved for a certain person, you can't drink out of it. we thought she was joking, but she took the skull away, poured the beer into a pint glass, and gave it back to him. at least he got one sip out of the skull! then the shakeweight-for-men commercial came on the tv. overall a great night :)

I can't believe this place has such negative reviews. It's a sports bar people, chill out!! While, yes, it's not my favorite place downtown, it's one of the cheaper bars in the LoDo area and is perfect for some pre-Rockies game brews. The food isn't gourmet or anything but it filled me up was cheaper than $6 hot dogs inside the stadium. Also good to start off the evening as they have the all-night happy hour deal on Fridays.

  • Mitch J.

Cheap drinks, and they play sports all the time. I read some other reviews, and yes it does remind me of a old college bar. Maybe thats why I like it..and its a change from the Lodo clubs..not my thing. Great place to go get tore down with the peeps. Go state!

  • casey c.

I don't know why the low ratings...the stiff drinks and low price is enough to put this way up there for me. Who cares about the fratboycrowd? It's the perfect place to go before/after a game.

I'm gonna have to give some major props to Brian "the duckman" Duckett for his choice of the Giggling Grizzly last night. This fantastic little dive had $3 brews & cocktails, good tunes and a Chinese Food place that delivered to your stool at the bar. The GG actually serves food, as we found out, but I'm not sure I'd recommend it, since even the bartender & cook were ordering from the Chinese place. A strategically placed mike above the bar gave the bartender the opportunity to share with the entire bar what he thought about the clientele. Case in point, drooling drunk enters bar and asks what football game is on (note, this is Tuesday, not Monday). The bartender swiftly boots the drunkard and shares a few choice words over the speakers. The cook came round and performed some mating whale calls over the mike, a bit later. Then, thank god, someone thought to put a few quarters in the Juke Box and play some Drop Kick Murphys.

The drinks are so cheap I couldn't not like this place. This is the cheapest place to drink I've seen in Denver yet. The bartenders were cool the night I went too.

The grizzly used to be a much more party atmosphere bar to go to until bush became president and then all the republicans started going there. I did go home with a 41 year old one night i met there and she showed me things I've never seen before..I've gone to the open mics on Tuesdays and heard some decent music before...

This place used to be one of my favorites because it was a MSU Alumni bar, but for some reason this place is going down hill rather quickly. On occasion you can find a good crowd here and some pretty good drink specials. Also, they have pretty good burgers if you are in the mood, and also the free popcorn is always nice to soak up a few drinks.

    (3)
  • Shiho F.

I went to the Giggling Grizzly after a baseball game and had some dark purple - greenish slurpee like beverages. I don't remember much after that but they were frosty and tasty.

    (3)
  • Aaron W.

This somewhat dumpy sports bar still packs a crowd on the weekends. The bar in the middle gets pretty bombarded and could use a few more bartenders, but at least the crowd is lively.

  • Daniel B.

The Giggly Grizzly is a great place for small groups or a large group if they know you are coming .... We have been in here a number of times for their Wednesday $1.50 burger night. It is always a good time whether its pool, the Giant Jenga game, or a real jukebox. The drinks are at decent prices sometimes hard to find in LoDo. Since burger night is popular, be prepared to wait as it can take a bit, but definitely worth the wait. You add on tots, sweet potato tots, garlic wedge fries and more! This is not an upscale bar, this is more like a locals bar or even a dive bar. If you come in with your expectations in line you won't be disappointed!!

Came here with friends as part of a birthday party bar crawl. As I didn't feel like drinking, I decided to try out their menu. Unfortunately, 80% of the food listed on the menu was not available as they had run out. That's a first. Was the food that awesome that they would be almost sold out of everything by 7pm? Sadly, no. I decided to sample their sloppy joe, onion rings, and pork carnitas tacos. I only took two bites of my sloppy joe before pushing it aside. It was way too salty. Sloppy joes should be on the sweet side, not salted to death. The onion rings were okay, but here is where they should have added some salt and seasonings to the batter. The tacos were pretty meh. They didn't drain the carnitas, so it was a watery fricking mess. They were also pretty bland. I don't expect much from bar food, but this was pretty bad. I suggest you only come here for drinks. Our server was nice, the atmosphere laid back, and the other customers weren't your average LoDo frat chumps.

We were let in 15 minutes early to enjoy some beers before a baseball game at Coors Field. Awesome customer service that made us feel like regulars. Played punk rock and ska music - which definitely made this a comfortable place for my husband and I. We will definitely return when visiting Denver!

I've been here so many times and still love it. Reasonable prices, games, good service, clean restrooms, great crowd. I used to go a lot more as a single lady. Now we go for some of the great fundraisers GG sponsors.

The Giggling Grizzly is one of my favorite bars in LoDo. They are always ready for the crowd that is eventually going to show up...especially if you are there on a big sports day! They usually have pretty good specials...both drinks and food. We showed up on a Wednesday night and it was $1.50 burgers with $1.50 Rolling Rocks...Can you say hellz yea! (I know, I'm sorry I just typed that...but seriously hellz yea!) Okay, shout out to some of the best bartenders around...JEFF, MANNY,MARK AND MIKE! You guys seriously make the hard ass job of being a downtown bartender look easy. I've been coming here enough years off and on that I've watched them come and go. These guys are easily some of the best around! Opening Day...St. Patricks Day...Random Tuesday...all good days to stop by and have a cold one!

  • Leanna C.

A great place to go and grab a drink in downtown Denver that's inexpensive. Easily one of the better places to go in LoDo. No lines to get in, no cover and cheap drinks. A fun place to come with a large group of people and enjoy a night out in Denver.

  • Andrew W.

LOVEEE THIS PLACE! It is crazy it will be completely dead great to shoot crazy hopping!! Giant Jenga as well incredible! ALWAYS great service and drinks are strong and super cheap here!! Also Weds there is 1.50 Burgers!! Incredible!! And you can put all sorts of crazy stuff on it!!

  • Whitney L.

This place is a pretty solid bar. They make great cocktails but nothing too special there. They have a jukebox so people tend to put on some great stuff (read: backstreet boys and nelly) I've always had good service when I've been there so nothing to complain about there and the people that frequent it are typically pretty cool. Also, if you wear a bear coat/costume they'll give you a discount- I know from experience.

  • Russell G.

Large space, cheap drinks, juke box with plenty of songs to choose from and giant jenga. They used to have an air hockey table but I think it broke. Last time I came here, no one was using it other than a place to set their drinks. Too bad...I love air hockey. A good place to start your night...or end it. Ha ha. Oh, I would probably stay away from the food here. I've never eaten at this place but from looking at what other people order, it doesn't look that great. Overall, a good bar to hang out at for a while.

  • Jules W.

Love the Grizzly, just do not know why the acting Bouncer (I think he might be a co-owner or manager the way he was acting), Jeff Dew, was dropping "N-Bombs" left and right. He was probably drunk, but that still is not an excuse to be using that type of language... especially with a black bar tender working there serving me at the same time. I will still go back, and it did not seem to be used in a hateful way, but it did make me feel uncomfortable when I am sitting there trying to have a drink with a few friends on a weekend night and "Jeff Dew" is standing by the door talking very loudly to his buddy, "N-word" this, and "N-word" that. Good Bar, NOT a good look for Mr. Dew. Heads up everybody.

    (2)
  • Ben L.

Black bartender needs to take a chill pill. Saw him jump over the bar and aggressively throw out a guy who had not done anything but ask another patron why he tried to steal a jacket. When the caring patron tried to explain he was not heard at all. Turns out bartender and thief were friends. Save your money and go somewhere else.

Ah, the Grizz. Many reasons why I like this place...and a few reasons I don't. Let's start with the good stuff: 1) Cheap drinks - especially if there is a game going on. Sure, the place can get crowded and getting up to the bar is a task but for the price it's a win. 2) Not a lame LoDo crowd - mostly people who are down to get their drink on. 3) Lots of games - video, Jenga, pool, air hockey and even a space for Flip Cup. 4) Great location. 5) Big bar with lots of space. I'm not a fan of how chit chatty the bartenders are. I understand the bar is 360 degrees and you can't keep an eye on every corner at all times. But really, I don't want to have to do a song and dance to flag down a bartender. At least they are nice! Sometimes the music is way too loud and then you add on all the drunken screaming and it's a chore just to order a drink. Wow - that makes me seem like an old man! When someone says we are meeting at The Grizz I never sneer. It's always a solid time and lots of fun. It's a great alternative to other bars that suck.

  • Jese S.

I had wondered how this place got its name until we got all the way in the door and saw the enormous stuffed grizzly bear close to the bar. Mystery Solved! On one of the busiest downtown drinking mornings we made a stop in for a quickie. They had Guinness so Kelly was happy. What made her even more happy was, although they were serving in soloesque type cups the bartendress was willing to give the Irish redhead an actually glass. This now made the place AWESOME! Nice sized bar, Lots of colorful characters and right next door to a great jazz dive. Great place for a quick drink.

I don't think I will be back to the Giggling Grizzly any time soon. I used to trek over there from Auraria Campus back in the day to have their burgers. They used to be pretty good so we stopped in for a burger. First we sat at a table near the bar, the place wasn't busy by any means. We waited for a while without seeing a server so we went to the bar instead. The bartender made it over after another while and took our burger orders. I had one off the menu that had both swiss and american as well as green chiles and bacon! Sounded great. My friend a hamburger. After a while the burgers came out. At first glance I noticed something strange. The cheese on mine wasn't melted on top like what I expected. Instead it was sitting on the very bottom bun under cold lettuce and tomato. Sitting on top of this was the burger with the cold green chiles. I touched the bun and was surprised to find it ice box cold. My lady friend had the same complaint. The top buns were hard and cold with a dab of mayonnaise in the middle of each. I asked the bartender about the cold buns and asked if they had some fresher ones and if they would please melt the cheese for me too. She took them back and then came to tell me that the buns were all that way and that they keep them in the refrigerator until service. She asked if I would like to have them warm them up for me and I of course said yes. We waited for a while before they brought back the burgers. The cheese was partially melted on top of the cold green chiles which was fine. The buns though had been warmed up a little bit but were still cold in the middle. I decided to forgo the bun and eat the middle. Upon taking it apart I found the bacon in with the lettuce and tomato. It looked like it came out of the fridge too. It was cold and very burnt. I set it aside and started in on my burger. The meat tasted good and with the cheese and chilies it was pretty ok. The fries were the same ones we sent back and were cold by the time we got the plates back. The bartender asked how the burgers were and I showed her the bacon and the bun and told her about the cold fries. She was very nice and took the burgers off our tab. I tried to protest because we had eaten them but she insisted. I didn't protest too hard though because the problem seemed systemic and not a fluke. Maybe this place is cooler after a few drinks. But really I think the kitchen here is just clueless, skip it...

Spent New Years Eve here and had a great time! They had a live DJ, good music, good beer. Danced all night! I went back and played jenga the weekend after NYE, very polite staff. This bar is a good time!

Poor service, food is just "eh", jukebox music is angry. Nice location for a beer before a baseball game, tho.

I like the giggling grizzly a lot it's the closest thing you can get to a dive in the area .... Especially on a weekend night when you don't wanna wait in line or take your earrings out or some dumb shit like that it's the place for you ... Just go in a get pretty prompt service and chill out .... Play some pool if you want or big jenga

    (5)
  • Stephanie N.

Always a good time here. Great bartenders that are fun and quick. Cheap drinks, but a stone's throw from the douchier lodo bars. Always friendly people in here.

    (5)
  • Carolyn M.

I love this bar. It's not nearly as douche-y as you'd expect in this neighborhood, and the bartenders are great (plus they've been there forever). It has all the games that good bars have...pool, giant Jenga, beer pong...enough to keep you busy all day and night!

    (4)
  • Brian S.

Ahh, the Griz. Back in college you were the place we stopped by at 1:30 to try our luck after striking out repeatedly by the snobs at the neighboring places. Today you're still the black sheep of LoDo and you don't get the respect you deserve. Why is this place better than the others around the corner? 1. $2.50 domestics before the game 2. Fast and attentive bartenders 3. Waitresses are all super friendly and don't give the popped collar douchebags all their attention 4. Did I say $2.50 beers? Good. It can get crowded, but it's not that loud compared to other joints and it's a block away from the ballpark.

    (3)
  • Emily M.

This place was awful! The bartender was horrible. It wasn't busy, and our food - basket of chicken strips and fries took 45 minutes! No apologies! This shit doesn't fly in Texas!

    (1)
  • Brian K.

Go on a week night when you can hang out with friends and it's not crowded, you'll have a kick ass time! A few of the best bartenders and friends you can make in Denver.

  • Blake M.

If you like being hot and sweaty in a bar that has absolutely no AC and love paying a fortune for drinks this is the place for you. It's awful. Sure it was a Friday night and there was a Cubs vs. Rockies games, but you would think the bar would staff appropriately. We went to several bars before visiting this one. When we walked in, we went through the normal ID process and walked over to the bar which was packed. It took us about 20 minutes to order four beers and when we got the bill it was $20. Compared to every other bar we visited that night ordering almost the same thing and sometimes liquor, that was our more expensive tab. Their selection of mexican beers is limited to one beer (which I forgot the name, wasn't bad, but wasn't a main mexican beer). Based on first experiences, I just didn't care for this place. It was topped by absolutely no AC in the place.

UPDATE! From 7-10pm [everyday!] the Grizz offers $.25 wings and $1 Rolling Rock beers, $2 well cocktails and more! I found myself here last night after work and couldn't help but indulge :)

There is something about this place I don't like. Maybe the size, maybe the bar, but its always crowded and sooo small. The thing I like though is the last few times I've been there as busy as this place gets there is one bartender that always gets me served quick.

The Grizz, good service, smells horrible and is always a good party!

Just awful. Awful service, awful food, awfully understaffed. Our server ignored us and flirted with other customers, and even after someone spilled one of our beers, we cleaned it up ourselves and was never asked if we wanted another. The food was burned beyond recognition. When we told her that our burgers were missing their bacon and to simply subtract it from our bill, she returned with a plate of charred bacon and the excuse that the manager was busy. When I called the manager over and explained the situation, he made excuses and said that he'd do anything for our repeat business. He gave us our two $9 burgers for free, leaving our bill at $31. The server must have gotten greedy after we left, because our credit card statement shows that they charged us $41. There are plenty of other bars outside of Coors Field, and they will all get tons of money from my friends and I, but never again will our large group of friends from Buckley AFB and the rest of Aurora visit the Giggling Grizzly.

Overcharged. This is a shitty bar not worth your time. Terrible service, terrible wait staff, terrible food.

Chill dive bar. Kinda smelled but what dive bar doesn't? Super cheap drinks and friendly staff. Glad we found a spot to drink for the night.

This was the first place I had ever seen Giant Jenga, quite amazing I must say! Other than this I don't really care for the Giggling Grizzly. My friends brought me here a lot when I first moved here and for as close as it is to 'toolbag row" the crowd is usually pretty decent. Cheap drinks Nappy bathrooms Great people watching Take your pick...sorry if you ever see me here..I'll be the one wishing she hadn't been dragged here again!

For years now, this has been the staple of the LoDo bars my friends and I go to on any given night out either for our first beer or our nightcap. With a local pub feel but the large crowd, this place never disappoints for a drink and a good time. The location is perfect and the bartenders are the kindest in town, having both worked here for as long as I can remember. Beer is cheap and wings are yummy. Although the crowd is often male-dominated and it's rare to find a group of pretty ladies here, this place has everything a great downtown Denver bar needs. LoDo without the 'Griz wouldn't be the same!

So what is so special about this place.....well nothing really. I think moreso it is one of those reliable places. We kind of just entered here on a Monday night when the rest of the town was dead. One of the most simple reasons that people go to bars is to bars is to be around other people. The consistency is that this place due to prices and entertainment is guaranteed to be populated. We had a fun time, there were a lot of easy going people, and again great prices for the downtown area. DT

Loud, crowded, and the not worth the wait for the drinks. The bartenders were rude and possibly drunk. No air-conditioning or possibly broken. I bought 4 beers and it was $20! It wasn't even the expensive, high-quality beers! I'm not sure I'd return here.

It's ok but I always tend to get so bored here. There's nothing entertaining about this bar besides the one game of giant jenga and the beer pong tablethat's always in use. Little seating and every time I've been here there's been one server (who is great) attending to the whole bar so takes time to get a drink.

LOVE this bar! Other than 1up the video game bar, this is my favorite place to go downtown. The bartenders and VERY nice and the drink specials are great. I went on Thursday night and they have very cheap drinks after 8:00. Its a pretty safe bet if you or your friends have fake id's. There's also a flip cup/beer pong table and life size jenga for entertainment. Great place to go before/after/during a rockies game!

On word: Photobooth. Or is that two words? My friends and I stumbled in here Thursday night after a pretty negative experience at the Cowboy place around the corner. The bartender was friendly and fulfilled my request for a pitcher of water with some sass on the side. The photo booth is only $3 and the prints come out black and white. My friends and I entertained ourselves for at least 30 minutes on that thing. The good thing is that you get the photos pretty quickly and you don't have to wait for 5 minutes. The drinks were cheap and they have a pool table. I don't know what else you need in a dive bar.

Whatever you do, do not leave your credit card here overnight. No matter how amazing your night is going, you will never get it back. They have a stack of almost 100 cards which they refuse to go through and look. Drinks are well priced and they have giant jenga, I recommend washing your hands after a game. Its a good place to come to have a cheap drink when you're in LODO. 4 well whiskey gingers for 14.00. Not too bad for the area. Overall, the booths are big and its a nice place to come and hang out with a few friends when you are making your rounds in downtown Denver.

Two words. Beer freaking pong table. Crap, that's four. Oh well. It's a nice bar, solid staff, decent prices for LoDo, and it's across the street from a parking lot. Did I say too much?

Went to the Griz on a bustling Friday night with a ton of friends, and the first thing I noticed was the Michigan State flag hanging on the back wall. As an MSU alum, I was instantly smitten. We spent a good 4 hours there, taking advantage of the AMAZING drink prices and the fact that alcohol takes effect so much faster if you're not used to being a mile above sea level. There were tons of guys present, so if you're a lady who likes your drinks bought and paid for by some bar fellas -- hey, more power to ya! Denver is the single men capital of the US, so this is the place to do it. Most of the guys we ran into were creepers, but it was still an excellent night. Lots of dancing, lots of drinking, an air hockey game or two, and of course, a picture with the stuffed grizzly. I wouldn't say it's a total college scene, either -- the crowd when we went was early 20s to late 30s. Party people though, to be sure. Oh, and there's a popcorn machine by one of the booths. What can I say, I'm a sucker for free snacks when I'm drinking. :)

After fighting through the crowds the street up, I was pleased to see that there wasn't a wait to get in on a Saturday night, despite the bar being fairly busy. This sense of happiness was quickly squashed after an experience with the poop of a bouncer. Sure, I'm from Canada. We have different ID's. No, I didn't bring my passport with me but with the 12 other pieces of ID I had, you should clearly get the point that I'm over 21 and am not a man trying to hand you a girl's card. After humming and hawing over it, he then extends his arm and my cards as far away from me as possible and glares. You know that you can simply hand things back to people, correct? Being even more rude really isn't necessary. If that's the way you're going to have your front door staff act, then wow.

This place usually smells like piss. The entrance is kinda hidden on the wrong side of the street, but the drinks are REALLY cheap! This place generally smells bad every time I'm inside or walking by. Other than that and it's location, it's a pretty good place. The drinks are cheap, and it's fun to hang around. It's one of those places that you have to stop by and check out for yourself.

Now I dig this place. I always come in the beginning of the night or towards the end. I dig it due to the fact that it reminds me of the Michigan bars I ran in back home. Bartenders always treated me right and I have always had a good time. If you don't like crowds or rubbing elbows with folks maybe go some place else. The Frat type Brah's hangout here sometimes but but more than half those Dbags are soft so tell them to eat sh*t. Other than that it's Buck. Cheers.

Pretty fun place considering the area it's in. Pretty cheap drinks and fast service. The crowd gets heavier as the night goes on. I would compare it to a box of chocolates though, you really will never know what "type" of people you're going to see here. Think college bar meet's LODO crowd.

I felt like I was having a bad flashback to a college bar in Fort Collins. Not a good college bar either. It was packed with what I would like to call "Newbie" drinkers... the kind that are like, "Let's do 5 Kamikaze's and then have some more SHOTS! YEAH! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" It was loud. It was fairly dirty. It was full of special needs people (not really, but their actions should have qualified them nonetheless). The only plus was the dirt-cheap drinks and the air hockey. Also, if you like slightly overweight girls that wear little clothing, then this is your spot. Muffin-tops galore. Our server was fast and efficient, but she also had the 50 yard stare and the personality of a mushroom. Oh well. At least she was fast! My synopsis: I'm too old for this sh*t.

I went here a couple weeks after I turned 21, I had some creep following me and my cousin around for about 5 minutes until a manager ca,e by and asked him to leave us alone! He then bought us a drink and apologized! I was uncomfortable ready to chug my drink and leave but thank you to the manager for saving me, I feel terrible I don't remember his name but I told him to come to Sliceworks and I'd hook him up with pizza I still haven't seen you in yet!!!! Anyways fast bar service and a fun place to be.

So, this place doesn't know about vegetarians. My options were: fried mushrooms, fried mac & cheese, or french fries. I went with the french fries, since at least they didn't have batter on them, and they were beyond sick! I was starving though, so I had to force them down. Pure regret. My diet Coke tasted like cranberry juice, that was pretty disgusting. The staff was friendly, but there's no way you'll find me back in this bar.

Maybe if they didn't turn paying patrons down because they don't like the looks of their ID. Nothing spoils the night more. My money shall go else where. Far too many good places in LoDo then to waste my time here to get turned away.

It's alright. The prices here are decent enough. If you do order the $5 BLT just be wary for there's way too much shredded lettuce on it. Otherwise it's not a bad place.

ooooh The Griz. It's as if Greg Louganis himself owns a piece of LoDo (get it?! Dive bar?! Anyone?!?! Didn't think so...) While it's not your traditional dive bar, when you compare it with the oft-pretentious establishments LoDo has in spots, it's a great dive for a break from the rigors of normal LoDo nightlife. Drinks are damn cheap, and usually pretty strong, at least if Jeff is making them. Thursday thru Sat the place is rather packed, so it can get to be a bit of a PITA (pain in the ass) when it's asses to elbows. But make this an early stop rather than a later stop so you can secure a seat for your cheap drinks. Great for Rox games, it is right across the street from Coors, so that sort of makes sense (though I guarantee if you stay there for a whole game, after the game you'll have swallowed enough Whiskey to forget where you are and spend half the night questioning why there are so many Rockets fans in the bar. The Griz is great. It's cheap, fun, and full of excellent people watching opportunities. You should go. Right now. They're probably open.
