I was SOOOOO prepared to not like this place, based on the reviews. But, I'm a sucker for an Indian buffet, and I work in the same mall as this place. So, the decor is quite nice, no complaints there. I also had no issues with rude employees, and was greeted by a lovely young woman with a bright smile. The selections on the buffet were a little sparse, to be fair: Navratan Korma, Saag Paneer (VERY little paneer), Goat Curry, Chicken Tikka Masala, and Tandoori chicken. I might be missing a few. At $11.99, I could stand for it to be a bit cheaper. That having been said, the food was pretty darn good. I experienced only well-cooked chicken, nothing dry, and while none of the dishes were very spicy at all, I've come to expect that at most Indian restaurants, catering to the American public. I was brought out a fresh basket of hot naan, cooked perfectly. I quite enjoyed the Navratan Korma and the tandoori chicken! The place was completely empty, outside of myself. I will probably go back for lunch when I'm working, but probably not often, due to the steep price. But, I recommend the food, and I most definitely would like to call out the pleasant and attentive service.

I like the food and the convenience of this place.....but it needs atmosphere and the waitress lady could be a bit more personable. Holly cow will it kill you to smile (no pun intended).

It's not as good as it used to be.There is less variety and cheaper items. No real desserts anymore and the price went up. It's been around 15 years.Never crowded.I don't think would go back.I noticed a nearby Indian restaurant just closed.

Yep, it is in an old Pizza Hut building....but its what's on the inside that counts, right?? I ordered pick-up via their online ordering, which was very easy through their direct site - denvertasteofindia.com & went simple with Chicken Tika Masala (medium spicy)& Garlic Naan. The Naan was perfectly cooked! The Tika Masala was relatively spicy for Medium, and I consider myself pretty spice tolerant, but still tasty. Many Indian restaurants in town have really thin Masala; this place was thicker than most and had lots of flavor. 15 minutes to have the order ready & they called immediately to confirm the order was placed! Not too bad for being 'burb side of Denver.

I was apprehensive about eating hear after reading some of the reviews, but our household (me, hubby, and roommate) decided to try it anyhow because it was so close to home. I laughed because: 1. I think it is an old Pizza Hut 2. The TV was on with the news playing, like others have said 3. Yes, the owner was a bit gruff...but definitely not RUDE! So this place is not without its charm! However, the food trumps all else. I ordered the vegetarian combo plate and it was absolutely delicious, and for $16, well worth the price for such a large amount of food! The Mango Lassi was amazing too! The chai tea was not all that great. Bottom line, the service is OK, nothing great, but they are not slow and are not rude. The food is amazing and the atmosphere is quiet and inviting.

I went here a couple times, once dine in, once take out. It was unremarkable both times. The naan when we dined there was burnt and hard (as if it was reheated or something). The curry was very mediocre. So even though I live blocks from here and crave Indian food often... I never go back, rather drive to go somewhere that truly satisfies my craving.

For some reason my father really likes the buffet here. I think it's because he's old, losing his teeth, and they have multiple soups for the buffet. So, for that reason, I've been here several times. None of which were pleasant experiences. The Naan bread is dry and flavorless... Even if you're out of ghee, using normal, American butter might help. I've witnessed them reheating dishes from last nights buffet on the buffet line - Even if this is standard practice at other buffets, you shouldn't do it on the buffet line. Where you're guests can see. I've had cold Saag and Chicken Tika off the buffet line... Saag and Chicken Tika being cold are 2 things I never want to put in my mouth again... Usually have problems getting re-orders on drinks, as the service isn't very attentive. I really wish my father had teeth so we wouldn't keep looking for soup joints...

Great Food. I have used their delivery service for sometime. They take about 45-60mins but the wait is worth it. Ordered: 7+ When: 2012-2013 It's a little more pricey than normal but I guess that's the cost of eating good authentic indian food. Highly Recommended :-)

Save your money and go get some fresh food somewhere! I've hit the buffet twice -- once about 3 years ago, and swore never again. In a weak & hungry moment, against my better judgment - again today! Chicken masala was watered down and flavorless. The chicken in it was old and dry. The salad dressing was doused with large amounts of salt and non-consumable. The deserts, rice pudding and mango, were also watered down. The remaining items on the buffet line seemed to lack freshness. The staff is rude and the clean-up service was non-existent!! I seriously am hoping I didn't get poisoned. Yep - that bad.

Hot and fresh buffet. Just wish that the selection was a little broader. Tried some chicken meatballs for the first time. I especially enjoyed the saag paneer (not too much cream). I would visit again, if just to see what other selections they have to offer.

This place has pretty good food but the service is shotty. I've been here twice now. Looks like an Indian family owns it. they have a buffet 7 days a week for $10 which isn't bad but if you like your food spicy, you'll need to ask for chili powder because the buffet stuff is not spicy at all. Dinner is better because you can have your food made mild, medium or hot. I am a big fan of nan bread and sauce when it comes to Indian food. This place has the nan but the sauce is minimal. The restaurant itself is a fairly large size but there is hardly anyone in there. The establishment has a dated look to it. Also, if you are looking for a quiet atmosphere, this place will work well for you. Overall this place is tasty but lacking on other fronts that make for a great dining experience. Good place for a casual stop if you are in the neighborhood and feel like Indian but don't make this place a destination if you live further than 10 mins away.

I ordered delivery. Mango Lassi = Amazing, silky & fruity Saag Paneer = thick, fresh and flavorful. Samosas = hearty, nice flavor and texture Fast delivery, enjoyable food, good value. I will order again.

Love this place. Good buffet, but just like all Indian buffets, not quite spicy enough. For dinner I love the masala, saag paneer and lamb curry. Even better as left overs. Also, I love to support locally owned small businesses.

We took the family to the lunch buffet. The kids enjoyed the food. That alone makes A Taste of India a good choice.

As almost everyone else has said...there's a lot of attitude from the owners/employees. You really are treated like you are bothering them or something. The food is OK. I've only had the buffet on the 3 or so occasions that I've been there so I can't speak for the rest of the menu. I've noticed that they don't remove the old food and replace it with a new plate...but just dump the new food on top of the old food. The rice on the buffet was 1/2 OK and 1/2 hard and I'm guessing that's from just dumping the newer food over the older food. If you have a hankerin' for Indian food in this part of town and don't feel like driving somewhere else this restaurant will suffice.

Owner is rude and his attitude towards customer is very bad. Not oriented towards customer would suggest India castle at arapahoe rd instead

I've been here a few times and have never been impressed. The service isn't great, but not the worst I've experienced. I've gotten the vindaloo and karahi with meat. They used way too much spice and it tasted as though they tossed a bit of everything in there to the point I couldn't tell the difference. I wasn't even sure if I was eating meat or veggie. If I'm craving Indian, I'd much rather drive a couple extra miles to the other Indian restaurants in the area.

the place is ok, the interior is average, the floors are dirty. i only tried the lunch buffet, the food was pretty good, some dishes were off though and deceiving, especially the biryani... will try again for dinner

Have eaten here twice and neither time was I blown away. The service is below average, because they almost seem annoyed with you when you're there. The food isn't bad at all, but it's also not particularly stupendous either. It's been a ghost town in there both of the times I've been there too, but I think that owes more to the location than to something wrong with the restaurant. So if you're in this area of Denver, it'll suffice for indian fare, but don't expect to be blown away.

Hello. This place is not good. I have a trouble with eating microwaved food. Half of my chicken masala was microwaved and half was not. I guess they were mixing leftovers together. The cutlery was dirty. The worst thing though was the management. They has the TV blasting and managers was also playing something really loud on his iPod to beat over the TV. He was yelling on the phone and in the conversation with the slowest waitress ever. Additional rice was not in the price and I had to walk up to the waitress to ask for it. Then I waited for 5 minutes just for the rice. By that time my meal was ready to be microwaved again. Not surprisingly the place was empty. Please do not go here. I was exploring and ended up making big mistake. I had te same meal at Little India and the price was the same but service, comfort level, and surroundings were better. In Little India the rice was in price and I felt welcomed. In A Taste of India I was worried manager would hit me when I went to ask for more rice. P.S. after the meal both my husband and I fell sick from stomach. Maybe green tea will help.

An Indian lunch buffet on a Saturday? How awesome is that?! The buffet menu was pretty standard - tandoori chicken, chicken tikka masala, meatball curry, mixed veggies (the sign called it that), veggie pakora, saag paneer and dal. The naan is brought to your table fresh and hot as hell. I ordered a mango lassi and it was also delicious. Even though lunch was tasty, I didn't have the best time just because I didn't feel very welcome. Twice, I felt it necessary to say, "I'm sorry, I've never been here before." Once when I started at the wrong end of the buffet and he chastised me and the second time when I inquired where the naan was. I didn't need a hug or anything, but something less than a growl would have been nice. The lunch buffet was around $9, which isn't bad but isn't great either. I left absolutely stuffed and more than a little sleepy. I won't be going back here alone again because I felt bad having that whole basket of naan to myself and to distract me from the grumpy people.

I checked out this place out with some friends who have been a few times. I'm usually not a huge fan of buffets, but decided to check out their lunch buffet anyway, why not. I was impressed. They had several choices, many vegetarian/vegan options. Rice, lentil dish, veggie dish, palak paneer (sp?), samosas... yum. I was full faster than I thought. Reasonably priced, decent service. Looked weird inside since it did look like an old pizza hut, but the tables/chairs were really nice. I'd go back.

I've been here many times for the buffet and a regular dinner. Similar to every Indian restaurant with a buffet, the dinner service is significantly better than the buffet. That said, I think this is one of the better Indian food buffets I have dined at. The buffet menu is pretty constant, saag paneer, vegetable korma, pakora, chicken curry, turkey meatball curry, dal, and tandori chicken. In addition, this is the only place I've been to that actually gives you freshly made naan with your buffet - others simply make a giant batch that turns soggy and rubbery under the unflattering glow of a heat lamp. All dishes at the buffet are wonderful, but easily my favorite part of the meal is the selection of desserts - rice pudding and mango custard. Nothing is better than leaving a restaurant with orange stained teeth from eating a boatload of mango custard. The dinner service is wonderful. The food is made with powerful spice and comes to you rich and flavorful. My favorite dish here is easily the vindaloo, but I don't think I have ever had anything that I disliked.

The place smelled of old cigar or really old building smell, the funiture was old and the service was ok, I am not a big fan on this place, i would not recommend this place to anyone around this area. Unless you like this food, the rice and chicken was great but my other friends did not like their food or the place.

There's not a lot to eat on Leetsdale, at least not a lot that isn't McDonald's or Taco Bell. Enough said. About the restaurant: Both of our water glasses had red lipstick on them....Very nice. But other than lipstick traces, everything seemed alright in A Taste of India. There's nothing special about the decor, other than it reminds me that this place must've been a Denny's or Village Inn back in the day. The waitress, host, and I suspect co-owner was prompt and slightly forceful in her work - actually reading off the menu to me when I hadn't ordered to her speedy expectations. The food was good - not as spicy as requested - but again, good overall. The menu seemed extremely complete as far as Indian food goes. Ah, and the garlic naan was pretty tasty as well. To sum it up, Leetsdale sorta blows. It's a boring street on the way to suburbia, and there's not much choice (are there every any worthwhile choices in suburbia?). Out of all the blandness that is Leetsdale, A Taste of India offered what I believe is authentic Indian cuisine.

A hidden gem! We have been going to Taste of India for over 5 years. I've read the earlier reviews about the owners and know that their "gruffness" is just an initial, superficial presentation. With my family, and especially my 2 kids, they are extremely friendly and always greet us warmly. They know my kids' names, what we like to order etc. They even give them lollipops afterwards. The buffet is consistently good - with our favorites such as saag paneer, chicken tikka maasala and samosa. We also have eaten their dinners and yes, it can be made more spicy. Personally, we like the mildness at lunch because some of us are wimps when it comes to spice. They also have a buffet dinner on Tuesday nights which is very reasonably priced and good. We have eaten Indian food all over Denver and the country - this restaurant matches up to many of the best, and is especially good given the location.
