Fast friendly service and delicious food. Taco plates so loaded with meat that we took home leftovers. Yummy.

I would honestly give it 0 stars but I couldn't. They have lack of quality food. Their food was frozen and defrosted for the next day to serve people. I wouldn't recommend it but only for agua fresca de melón.

Been eating here for a few months now. Went last night and the tortilla on my burrito tasted like degraser that was most likely used to clean the flat grill and not properly cleaned off before warming up the tortilla on it. Sadly I won't be back

I ran out of gas this morning in the Taqueria Las Palmas parking lot and the employees got me a gas can and pointed me in the right direction to a gas station...so I stayed for tacos when I got back! They were amazing, and I will be going there often for my Mexican food fix. So thankful for kind people and great food! I got a taco plate, chicken (2), chorizo, pork. Pork and chorizo were great. This place is the real deal.

I took my son here on a weekend afternoon. Washing our hands was a bad idea, as the bathroom was disgusting ... it was a slow afternoon, so the staff was busy texting instead of cleaning. Food was so so. Chile Rellenos some of the worst I've had in recent memory. Pass.

Only ever had take out from this place, but always very tasty food. The pork dishes are great. The chile verde & adovada are my favorite. They have a pretty extensive menu here, it will take you a while to make up your mind. It looks like other taquerias on Federal, but I'd definitely vouch for this one. Good stuff.

The hubby and I had an Entertainment coupon for this hole in the wall that we pass on Federal Blvd. all the time. We thought, let's give it a shot and I am glad we did. It rates about a one on the atmosphere scale, but that's OK because I wasn't there for the atmosphere. The service was fabulous and the food was really good. Our server, when asked about the best dishes at the restaurant, kept pushing the seafood. I got a very spicy shrimp dish that was amazing. My hubby got a pork dish that was good. The having to pay for a 2nd basket of chips is annoying, but in the end that meant I only ate a 1/2 basket of chips.....

Good food and friendly service. We really enjoyed the hard shell beef tacos and the refried beans. The green salsa is great too. Well worth the drive down to 40th street for lunch!

For this being my first Mexican restaurant in Denver - I was not disappointed. I did not know anything about the place nor too much about the area... i was on my way home from a meeting with a hunger pang. I had the day's special which was a burrito and enchilada combo accompanied by a Mandarina Jarritos. All i know is that it was complete goodness on a plate. I seriously could not finish my meal. The sauces are amazing, the seasoning of the meats is excellent! and the price was great. The lady who took my order and served me was really attentive and personable. So, stop here if in the mood for authentic Mexican. Tomorrow, I might get some of those tacos al pastor.

There are no words in the languages of men to describe how awesome this place is. Being the California snob that I am I figured culinary excellence especially when it comes to ethnic food was nonexistent outside our borders. However, this nondescript Mexican joint proved me wrong. The best Carne Asada tacos I have ever had. Well seasoned, moist and with a little lime...orgasmic. However, what really blew me away was the Horchata. Good Horchata is really hard to find. Sometimes it is too sweet. Sometimes it is too chalky. Most of the time it sucks. However, this place found the perfect balance. The only reason they did not get the coveted fifth star was their salsa and chips were underwhelming. However, all in all an excellent finish to my Colorado adventure.

After driving by about a million times - finally stopped in for first time. These fine folks couldn't be friendlier or hustled more. Had tacos - carne asada and pastor. Very good - and the green salsa is outstanding (the other is very very good, too.). Both come in squirt bottle - make sure you get these. Iced tea and four tacos - $8.50ish. Bargain lunch. Officially on my neighborhood mexican rotation along with Patzacuaro's, Carboncitos, and El Valle.

We want tortas, we want tortas fast. I suggested we drive up and down Federal off 38th and was convinced we'd find something. And..lo and behold we stumble across this place with the word "TORTAS" painted on one of the windows. The torta was filled with meat, sour cream, refried beans, guac and jalapenos. Deliciouso! The carnitas were very tendor and had wonderful flavor. It's still not as good as Las Tortas down south but will feed a quick fix in the Highlands. They also have $3 bfast burritos and a very reasonably priced dinner menu.

Well, I hate to be the voice of dissent but if this is 5 star Mexican food I need to have my Mexican visa revoked. I went for a late lunch today on the advice of a Latino friend who grew up in Southern Colorado where they make some serious Mexican food. He's in my dog house now. The place is the quintessential NW Denver Mexican dive complete with a van selling bootleg CDs out front and old black and white photos of famous Mexican actresses on the wall. Actually kind of charming in that way. The friendly waitresses are a little on the plump side which I consider a good recommendation for the food. So far so good, right? Free chips and a very mild salsa. OK. Maybe I ordered the wrong things because I see some good reviews of the tacos and tortas. But, you do not want to what I did and order the combinacion de numero tres - a crispy chile relleno (egg roll wrapper style which I detest), a bean burrito and and a cheese enchilada ($9). Waitress asked me hot or mild and I said, "hit me with your best shot". I have seriously had spicier cream gravy on a chicken fried steak. The food seemed well prepared, fresh, etc. but NO heat at all. So, if you are in any way heat challenged, this might be the place for you. I took a couple of bites and hid the remainder under my paper napkin so as not to cause a problem. I used to be pretty chunky before I found a healthy lifestyle and I'm not going to waste calories on bland, boring Mexican food. It is a very infrequent calorie and fat splurge so you can bet I won't be returning to Las Palmas any time soon. Pass.

Excellent food - had their chicken mole, which is my measuring stick. Unholy good!! Margs were a little weak, but that may have been because we got a pitcher full instead of individual drinks. I'll definitely go back and investigate that further. :) Go there before hiking down the hill to a Broncos game - you can park your car for the game, have excellent food, and enjoy yourself thoroughly!

Cal's Mex-Italia... that's what this used to be called many, many, many moon ago! Brings back old memories of a high school crush, pizza, and cokes. Hmmm, as I'm looking around as we walk in I wonder, "Did they change anything up in here?". I got that heebie-jeebie feeling "the tables being slightly greasy, the floors a little sticky, and what's that smell" kinda vibe from this long standing building in north Denver that's been several things since way back when. There's a sign out front for 99 cent al pastor tacos and of course, how could I resist? We also split some carnitas tacos too. The food actually was pretty good but those damn heebie-jeebies are hard to overcome... Doce.

Great food and service. Seriously. The tacos de carnitas were amazing. Crazy-looking exterior, but that's part of the charm. The don't serve booze (which is because they are located next to an elementary school, I believe), which is the only drawback, but the food is so good and lemonade, water, or a soda (real Coke!) will do. Anyway, check it out! Another awesome place in the 38th & Feds corridor! P.S. does everyone know to always order chile rellenos "soft" if you want the traditional style? I just found that out a few years ago, and man, they are SOOO much better not deep fried. You want that traditional egg batter exterior.

We were looking for a hole-in-the-wall Mexican place with really good food. We found it.. Amazing fish tacos. Did I say they're amazing? Total fabulous dive atmosphere and decor. Terrific service. Delicious, delicious burritos. Why 4-Stars and not 5-Stars? No liquor ... And ... You've got to pay extra for the 2nd basket of chips. Minor inconveniences.

If you are looking for good Mexican food this is the place. It was my first time to eat at Las Palmas. I had the tacos al carbon ( thinly sliced beef on a corn tortilla). I lived in San Antonio, Texas most of my life. Mexican food varies in taste and preparation depending were you live. This reminds me a lot of home. I loved it.

Not a great experience. Ordered enchilada plate which said it came with green chile. arrived with red chile, and they wouldn't change it. Bland food, no spice, wouldn't go back.

I live just a mere three blocks away and in a pinch, Las Palmas is great! I"ve only had the tacos, but what else do you order from a taco shop? I've had the carnitas, al pastor, shredded beef and al carbon. All equally delicious. I usually order take out but recently I actually dined in Las Palmas. Their chips and salsa are tasty and they have coke with real sugar rather than high fructose corn syrup. I would definitely recommend this taco shop to anyone. Keep in mind though they don't serve any alcohol so no margaritas for you.

considering this place is literally a 2-minute walk from my house, it's a WONDER why i don't eat here weekly. oh right, now i know why...it's b/c it's not good for me! las palmas' 99 cent tacos al pastor blow the lid off of any mexican grandma's attempt at these porky, oniony lovebombs!!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
