My man loves this place for his pre rugby game breakfast. He likes the pancakes and they are really delicious. I always steal a bite or two. The sausage patties are yummy too because I have also stolen a bite of those from his plate... I have been getting the two egg and toast special. They don't do egg whites but oh well. Tip - if you're getting toast, get the Rye. It's bigger and much better than their wheat toast which I doubt is whole wheat. Always great service!

Rude waitress who was fighting with the cook and making everyone uncomfortable!!! Place is.dumpy with trashy people working there. Food was very bland. Watch your ticket because they like to make "mistakes" on them

Greasy spoon with standard diner fare. Gus, the owner, is quick to welcome my family when we get there, make some big booming remark about "its about time", kiss my wife and pinch the kids cheeks. This is our standard issue Sunday bfast spot. the gyros are bombdiggaty, the big bfast burrito is perfect to nurse a hangover and the coffee hits the spot for diner coffee. the burgers are diner burgers, the sunrise special is big, and great at absorbing alcohol from a night getting your drink on. parking can be tricky on Sunday morning, and the rush is typically over by noon.

Another one of our regular local greasy spoon breakfast diners. The owner greets everyone but is kind of a prick to the staff. Despite the fact that they just got chewed out, the wait staff is always sweet and polite and prompt. Greek specialties are great here, as are standard breakfasts. I've also had a very unremarkable burger. Meh. Kitchen is usually quick even when there's a rush after church on Sunday. Speaking of church, there's a group of older loud men who have a bible study meeting there on Friday mornings, which can either be a hoot or an annoyance depending on your level of hangover, silliness or godliness. Minus one star for no corned beef hash. Minus one star for owner who treats his wait staff like crap.

This place has been here forever. I've been coming here for about ten years. The greek food here is good and the breakfast burrito rock's. They have some pretty darn good rice pudding too. It's a senior peoples hang out but still cool. the only downside is they close at 3 p.m., bummer for us late nighter's.

A no frills, friendly service greasy spoon breakfast joint. I got the daily special of eggs, bacon, toast, and hash browns for $4.95. It was very good, and came out in like five minutes even though they were pretty busy. They have an extensive menu for a diner, with American fare, as well as Mexican and Greek items. I look forward to going back soon.

Can I give a place 5 stars based on the pancakes alone? It looks like I just did. I have been on a pancake kick lately. I've been dying for the good, chewy, soft, sweet pancakes of my mind. They are a lot harder to find than I imagined. People are always trying to serve up some griddle cake and get arty on me. I don't want art, I want batter which has been sitting around for a few hours, has no bubbles in it, and pancakes which are cooked evenly. I got them here. Along with some of the best service I've ever had. Our table was tag-teamed by two lovely, sweet ladies who were a constant presence without being overwhelming. They asked how my food was, they took my plate the second I was done and promptly dropped the check off without making me feel rushed. The pancakes were amazing. A hallmark of good food is how quickly after eating it you want to eat it again. I wanted to eat at Sunrise the night of my morning epiphany with their pancakes. They are that good. Be forewarned that the title greasy spoon TOTALLY applies here. The patrons are rough around the edges, much like the neighborhood. It doesn't look like much, but it's been around forever, so you know it's good.

A greasy spoon indeed!!! Decent hangover food, stay away from the Mexican oriented food, especially the green chili. Coffee is terrible I think they use yuban yuck!

The Sunrise is a nice little greasy spoon with big big breakfasts. It's great for hangover recovery! I ordered two pancakes, and man were they humongous and fluffy! My hangover companion had the huevos rancheros, which were excellent and equally huge in portion size. Even the green chili was quite respectable for a breakfast spot. The waitress was so incredibly nice - she refilled my coffee a bazillion times, and seemed genuinely concerned about my beer-induced migraine. It made me feel special. She will always get a big tip from me. There are all the standard American foods on the menu, as well as a good helping of Mexican and Greek foods. Ambiance is quite pleasant if you're looking for a diner experience. Don't go here for a spiffy meal, go here because you're incredibly hungry and low on cash. The main crowd seems to be old guys drinking coffee. Sunrise is the way to go!

Our breakfast place down the road. Parking is alittle tight on the adjoining lot, but on 44th it's no sweat. Large menu with mostly American cuisine, some Mexican and a smattering of Greek. Breakfast is very filling. Weekend mornings can be very busy. The ambiance won't win any awards. Service is fast, inexpensive, and good. I'd rather go here than any restaurant chain. No liquor license, so breakfast has to be had sober.

Good economical choice for breakfast. The fare won't dazzle your tastebuds, but it will fill you up without emptying your wallet. The huevos and breakfast burrito are good choices as well as the biscuits and gravy. Staff has always been friendly. Your cup is never empty!

Very friendly people. Place smells like gas. Food kinda icky. Mayo on an egg sandwich?

I go there for a quick big breakfast. My wife and I walk over there from our house. It used to be a Burger King quite a few years ago. I think it has definitely changed for the better. Your eggs are prepared just they way you like them. The portions are pretty large so you won't go away still feeling hungry! The lunch menu is good too. Nice place to take the kids.

This place is a Greek/American diner fusion. A good place to go if your short on cash and need some breakfast. The booth seating is a bit uncomfortable. I like to get the Pita Breakfast Sandwich with a side of sauce. It's a bit dry without it.

First visit, but will definitely not be my last!! I am very picky so I was skeptical about this place, but after my first bite of biscuit and gravy, eggs, bacon and hash browns, I am in love. It's so great to find something similar to the southern food I am use to. Loved it. The only down side, my wife ordered the taco salad and got sick. She said the meat was not seasoned at all and it was very, very greasy. Like grease soaked the fried tortilla. Sad bc mine was so good. With that said, we will still come back.

Sunday March 1st 2015 Errr, was wondering if this establishment is a chain of some sort, coz when I goggled it online, they have the same name located across the US soil. Hmmm, I wonder and ponder. Should have ask the staff when we were there. I already had Dim Sum for Brunch, but since Hubs does not do Dim Sum, and after running some errands in this part of Neighborhood, Hubs wanted to have his Lunch. To Sunrise Café we went. Time was about 12:35hrs ish. Hubs ordered the New York Strip Steak - 8oz Steak ($9.75) with coffee ($1.60). Hubs order comes with Muffin Toast, "Mashed" Hash-browns and Over Easy Eggs. You can have options on how you like your Eggs to be cooked at this establishment. I opt to have the Gyro Plate ($8.95), with Grapefruit Juice ($3.00) for my beverages. For my Gyro Plate, I opt to have Over Easy Eggs, Muffin Toasts, and "Mashed" Hash-browns. The Gyro Plates comes with Ranch or Sour Cream of some kind. Since I am already full, I ate some of it, and have the rest of my Gyro Plate in to go boxes. The service is fast and our lovely server even "joked" with Hubs coz Hubs "clean" his plate thoroughly, aka meaning Hubs is super hungry that afternoon. All in all Decent establishment to either have Breakfast, Brunch or Lunch. Left this establishment about 13:20hrs ish. Hubs is full from his Lunch. As long as Hubs is happy, I am happy. Its open DAILY from 5am to 3pm ALL Holidays : 5am to 1pm Owned By : Gus Vinihakis and John Adrahtas Sunrise Café 4390 N. Sheridan Blvd, Denver, CO 80212 Tel : (303)-433-6911 @60/2015

It's decent. Lot's of options within a few blocks, so they do need to step up their game a little bit. Food was ok, HUGE servings so come hungry. Service was ok. Lady was nice.

I called in our order to save some time while driving across town. They had our meal ready and hot and Gavin was not late for school! Great job!

Like others have mentioned, what is with all of the criticism about senior citizens?! I mean what the heck? They are AWESOME! Rant over, I love Sunrise cafe. I always go for their Italian sausage and eggs. Eggs over medium. Hash browns soft. They always get my order exactly how I want it. I appreciate their consistency. The owner is a feisty little Greek man who often yells at his staff. The funny part? Every time I have seen this, the staff member being yelled at walks away giggling. His bark must be worse than his bite. Try this place out.

I had the supreme burrito and my husband had gyro and eggs bBig breakfast. Both were delicious and just what we needed on a Sunday morning. Casual, diner atmosphere and great prices. Ran into neighbors on our way out. Will definitely be back.

The server was acting shading specially when it came to leaving the tip, also the food was good enough, but I felt I could have made the same exact plate at home and just measured out the time to money ratio to be the same. If you are desperate to eat and right there is the only way I would suggest this place.

  • Eli W.

Amazing Greek omelet!! Too legit to quit! Old facility needs updating. The two old guys that own it can be annoying at time because they are so loud! Like really loud. Lol. Hence the 4 instead of 5 stars. Food comes out quick and is made with real eggs. None of that liquid egg crap.

To all you morons complaining about seniors eating there. You are exactly that. Morons. Why don't you take your pretentious asses somewhere else! This place is exactly what it should be. An old school diner. That's it. That's all they want to be and they don't want your uppity attitudes there anyways and neither do I. That being said. If you want and awesome cheap breakfast and fast this is my new go to spot. No they don't have homemade scones or pork belly sandwiches but that's not why you come to a place like this. You come for the home feel and the atmosphere of a place that's been serving young and old folks for many years. And they have been in business for a long time so they must be doing something right. I got the country breakfast and it was huge and and awesome and cheap. Exactly what I was looking for. This will be my new go to Diner in my neighborhood when I want a greasy unhealthy breakfast. Sometimes that's all you need or desire. If you want healthy or have a bunch of ridiculous dietary demands go somewhere else. We don't want you stinking up our gravy and grease filled air with your snooty behavior. Thanks and have a great day!

After driving by numerous times, I decided to stop in. Kathy waited on me (5 AM) and was courteous and polite the entire time I was there. She always made sure my water glass and teacup were full and checked back a couple of times to make sure I was enjoying my meal. I spent $8.80 and got four strips of bacon, 2 eggs, hash browns (more like home fries, which was fine with me), and biscuits and gravy, along with the aforementioned tea. The bacon was very good and so were the eggs. Hashbrowns were solid and I was able to tell that they were made in the restaurant--not frozen. The only downside to the meal was the gravy--a little thin and could have used some black pepper in it. I'm definitely a fan and look forward to going back again soon.

Right when we parked our car in the parking lot and got out to check our tires a lady came out and started yelling at us that we can't park here if we aren't going to eat at the cafe. She said it in a rude manner and didn't even give us a chance to speak before going inside. After that, we decided it wasn't worth our time to go in. What gets me is that there were only seven cars in the parking lot and a bunch of empty spaces. but there was no need to be rude about it. They could have verified that we were eating at their establishment first.

Great place! Walked in, seated immediately. Service was great, everyone was so friendly. Food was fresh and homemade. Loved that the potatoes weren't frozen and fried like most places, cut fresh. French Toast was my favorite, yum!. I felt like I was in a small town cafe because of how many regulars there were eating there. Definitely will be back and would recommend to others. No glitz no glam to the place, just a good food, great service.. and I like it!

Some people complain about all the senior citizens that frequent here... not really sure why. Senior citizens know their shit. You don't get to be 90 years old without knowing where a great tasting/great value breakfast is going to be. We're within walking distance to this place so we've been quite a bit. The BF usually gets the breakfast gyro's, or a breakfast burrito. He loves them both. I usually go for a pancake option... although sometimes I get the biscuits and gravy. The portions are huge and everything seems pretty fresh. And it's pretty cheap. Two can easily get out there for under $16. The staff is always very friendly, and it's kind of like walking into a breakfast joint in a small town where everyone knows everyone else. All in all, a solid breakfast choice.

I used to eat here once or twice a week. The food was nothing special but they gave you big portions. What I do remember most about the place though was how uncomfortable the seats were and how the old man running the place would yell at his staff so loud the patrons could here it. I no longer work in the neighborhood so I hadn't been there in many months. Today I dropped my car off nearby 5am in the morning and got the bike off my car which I was going to ride to work. The weather was so cold I couldnt put the front wheel on by myself since my hands were frozen. I noticed there were a bunch of police cars parked at the Sunrise parking lot. I went in and approached a table where five officers were waiting for their breakfast. I told them I was sorry to interrupt, I asked if one of them could hold my bike steady for me so i could put the wheel on. They just looked at me and didn't say anything, not a word, The old man came up to me and asked me what I wanted, I told him I was asking the officers for help. His response was I had to leave the place immediately. I did, very disappointed that the men in uniform wouldn't help a fellow human being or even acknowledge me. Worst of all, I thought it terrible that the old owner would interfere with someone who was asking the officers for assistance, treating me like a bum,, even though it might have been in his place of business. Ill never go back there again. The owner could care less about anybody unless they're sitting in his uncomfortable seats at the moment and spending their money for his food.. What goes around, comes around. I hope he gets to feel what I did this morning.

Sunrise Cafe is a great little breakfast place not too far from I-70 on Sheridan. My husband and I met up there with a friend who was passing through Denver and we enjoyed the food. I had the breakfast pita sandwich with scrambled eggs and bacon (crispy bacon, yay!), and my husband had the mushroom, sausage, & cheese omelette with hash browns. The portions were a good size and tasty. The servers at Sunrise Cafe are friendly and unobtrusive. We sat there for almost two hours talking to our friend whom we hadn't seen in months and we were never bothered or hurried along. If we are ever in the area again and looking for breakfast, we won't hesitate to stop at Sunrise Cafe.

Couldn't even stay to eat. There is nothing healthy on the menu here; even the waitress (who was very nice, by the way) admitted that quickly. The veggie omelet comes with canned mushrooms, tomatoes, onions and bell peppers. Where are the real vegetables? I asked if I could have a side salad or fruit with my turkey sandwich and she said she would have to charge me $3.75 extra and it would just be lettuce and tomatoes. My other options were potato chips or French fries. I explained to her that I was not happy with the options and my boyfriend suggested we leave. She asked us to wait just a second so she could talk to her manager. I expected them to at least attempt to be accommodating but she came back and kindly told us to have a good day. Apparently they don't care about keeping the business.

Their parking lot is tiny and full of cars. The restaurant is dated and kinda dirty. It was full of seniors. The one waitress on duty had a broken arm. In a cast. No, I am not kidding. I was going to sit at the counter but it was too cold, so I chose a table instead. Seated cattycorner was a very large man in his late 60's who suddenly began coughing in my direction ... FOR FIVE FULL MINUTES. I moved to another table next to the counter, hoping I wouldn't have to listen to an old man hack up a lung all the way through my breakfast. A few tables over, there was a couple standing next to a table, talking to another couple seated there. They began shouting at the cook. The cook began shouting back. Apparently, they are old friends. Then an employee walked in, and the cook began shouting at him. The employee shouted back. I left.

Nice little greasy spoon. The greek dishes are a nice touch. Gyros meat with eggs? Yes, please! My server was sweet, prompt and enthusiastic. I wish they kept hours that are a little more conducive to my schedule, but I'll try to come back when I can.

We had no wait for a table on Saturday morning, and our food was out almost right away! Perfect for some hungry breakfasters. :) the menu was very large, but we both got the Greek omelet. Lovin on some gyro meat and tzatziki sauce! Service was also very attentive and the price was right. Good breakfast spot!

The good: The service is excellent. Very friendly and attentive waitress. Eggs and bacon were great, but it's a breakfast place, so that's to be expected. The meal prices are also fairly reasonable. The bad: the hashbrowns/american fries were definitely fresh and not frozen, however they weren't seasoned at all and tasted very, very bland. I had to add quite a bit of salt and pepper to them. Same with the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were very, very salty but the gravy was extremely bland and barely had any sausage in it. I had to add quite a bit of pepper to that as well. Also, if you order iced tea or soda there are no free refills. You have to pay a dollar for every refill. Not sure about the coffee because I didn't order that. The waitress did inform me of this, so it wasn't a shocker come bill time. I mean it wasn't a horrible place to eat. But if you head a few blocks down 38th towards Wadsworth you can go to Sunrise, Sunset. The food there is better, the beverages have unlimited refills, and the price is about the same.

Biscuits and gravy was a disappointment. The chicken-fried-steak also a disappointment. The steak grease overpowered the gravy and the gravy seemed like it came from a can. The hash browns were incredibly dry. Bacon was fine. Now the bad. All of the waitresses were pawing everything and then grabbing bread to put it in the toaster and then grabbing the toast, putting it on your plate, and serving it. Never once washing their hands. Over 10% of the population does not wash their hands when they poo and pee. Then they touch the menu and pass it to the wait staff, who then touches your toast. Wash your hands. Use thongs for the toast. Or wear clean gloves when touching food. Try to smile and be friendly.

This is the Petes Kitchen for hung over seniors who stayed up late watching Matlock and drinking to much grape juice. That said, the breakfast is pretty darn good. Huge stack of breakfast potatoes, fluffy pancakes and warm syrup. Service is really friendly and quick. Your coffee will be topped off at all times. I never got more than 2 sips into my cup before someone was there to fill it up. Like other Yelpers have mentioned, try the gyros. If you don't like gyros the menu has a plenty of other things to choose from.

Good lord, what a divey greasy spoon! In a word, eclectic would be a nice way of referring to this place. It's a dumpy little breakfast diner with a culturally confused menu, pretty hideous decor, but at least they have parking, right? We headed to Sunrise for a hangover breakfast, five in our group. The place was pretty empty when we finally got there for breakfast at the crack-o-noon. My compatriots got breakfast, but it's hard for me not to order chile rellenos if I see them on a menu (halfway in hopes that I will find some decent ones in Colorado). So, I order the chile rellenos and am notified that they do not have rice in the entire restaurant and that beans would have to be ordered as a side. Okay, whatever, bring on the food. Yeah, I'm pretty sure they cracked open a fresh can of rosarita for my beans. They were even cold. At least the green chile was spicy enough to drown the taste of my chimichanga-style chile rellenos (does no one in this state know how to make chile rellenos?!?). So, since this place is just blocks from home, I will probably find myself here again out of laziness. But, I definitely will not be recommending it to my friends. You'd be better off hitting up the Arby's across the street.
