We dined before a sold out concert and were very happy with everything. Service was great, our appetizer came out the same time with drinks- so fast! Water glasses were constantly full and the food was delicious. Caesar salad was my personal fave... Huge portion and comes with lemon wedges and a large Parmesan "crisp". Children's menu was pretty basic, but the chicken tenders were a hit. Super convenient as they are inside the Pepsi center and pre-screen you at their door. You can go right into the center from the restaurant. Loved it and highly recommend!

Great new venue, super wait service. New menu great offerings, but price is way too high for the small portions. Its a shame that thier idea of portion control is about 30% too small even compared to the concessions stands throughout the, Pepsi Center. Not crowded, I wonder why?

After being seated for a pre mammoth dinner we waited and waited to get our drink orders taken. After noticing 4 wait staff standing around chatting we had to get up and ask them if someone could take our orders. The food was ordered, and after forgetting a few sides, we finally began to eat. The food was awesome & it was promptly gone due to the small portions, we started to feel a LITTLE better about our decision. After getting the check we were not happy with paying those prices for the service or the amount of food we received. Although convenient, we will have our pre game meals elsewhere.

Not the best. Only recommend for convenience when you are attending an event at the Pepsi Center.

This restaurant has changed in the past year from another owner/ name, and it is not a good change. We were seated quickly, and the ambiance is nice, but our food was not good. We tried the special ( nacho mac and cheese balls), and my date liked them. Our nachos and burgers however were not good. The burger was very dry ( to be fair, I wasn't asked how I would like it cooked), and didn't have a lot of flavor. It did come quickly. The nachos were tasteless too. On a plus, our waiter was attentive.

I just happened to be really early for a Nuggets game while it was snowing and cold. This was my only choice for warmth. Glad it was. I had the potato beer cheese soup and bbq wings. They were both fantastic. Top it with a cheap pint of coors light on tap, and it turned into a great pre-game dinner. Plus the actual restaurant is cool. Very rustic, almost like a mountain cabin on the inside. Fireplaces and multiple bars. Really cool atmosphere and the pricing wasn't bad either.

Made a reservation and went there for dinner at about 6 before a Nuggets game. I wouldn't go back for food again and here's why: The food: I ordered the chicken wellington while my friend ordered the prime rib french dip sandwich. I was excited to try the chicken wellington since it's been a while since I had a wellington. This is the description they have on the menu: "Tender Chicken Breast and Mushroom Duxelle Wrapped in Puff Pastry, Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Asparagus and Truffle Demi." Sounds amazing right? What came out was NOT that. It was some sauce on the bottom, with mushroom on top, with what looks like a phyllo dough pastry, with chicken strips. Yes, chicken strips like you'd get on a chicken salad. So 1. there's no wrapping, just piling. 2. the food was luke warm at best. 3. The taste, wasn't great. Only thing that required any skill is maybe the sauce and the stacking so it doesn't fall over. $26 for that plate of mess was a rip off. Baked chicken breast with a side croissant would've been closer to a wellington than that dish was. My friend's sandwich on the other hand, tasted better, and was the temperature food should be served at. However, the bottom bun was a bit soggy, but at this point, we were just glad that was more edible. I did complain about the chicken wellington but we're in a rush to catch the game and there's no time to wait for them to make a second one. And to be honest, I don't think the second chicken wellington would've come out much better. Best part of the whole meal was the fries. The fries were good. Service: You'd think if you made a reservation for a table, there'll be at least utensils on the table. Not only were they non existent when we sat down, it's still not there when the food arrived. I asked for a set but took longer than I'd like to get to me, so after staring at my food, watching it get cold(er), I decided to just walk over to an empty table and take a set. The waitress was nice, didn't really checked back on us about our food til I was about a quarter way in. Good: As mentioned, fries were good. Beer was good and it was cheaper than what you would've paid inside the game so grab a full one before you walk over. So if you just stick with fries and beer, you're ok. Wouldn't come back for dinner before the game again, would advice anyone else I know to go elsewhere for food as well.

Well my experience at the Blue Sky Grill started like any other. The wife and I had arrived early for the Avs game and wanted to grab a bite to eat. We stopped in a little after 5 and got on the list.10-15 min later we got a table and ordered drinks. 10 min later we put in our food order after an explanation that the computers were down and it would be hand written tickets. Now the problems start. Everyone seated after us in our area got their food first. Ours finally came out 45 min after we ordered with profuse apologies from the server. Not too bad but annoying. The food was pretty good, overpriced but hey, we were at the Pepsi Center! After watching the Avs win we go home and the REAL problems start. Two words: food poisoning. I haven't been this sick since consuming under cooked chicken wings on a Boy Scout camping trip 12 years ago. In essence, I won't be back.

I went last night just before the Mammoth game. The Shocktop beer tasted nice, but the food isn't that great. I paid about $10 for nachos that were tough. That's right, tough nachos. I'm not sure if they were stale or microwaved, but chewing those suckers took effort. Not worth the money. My husband had tacos and our buddy had a pastrami sandwich, and their food wasn't much better. They really liked their chocolate stouts, but the food was just not that impressive and it was cold. I would only get beer here before the game. From now on, I'm just going to go to Red Robin instead.

Pro Tip: You can get a beer to go and take it into the pepsi center, and they have their own ticket tackers thru the back! WOOT! That alone gets them the 4 star rating! Staff is extremely friendly and helpful! We had dinner once and drinks and desert once - so far - but we have season tickets to the mammoth... so i see more in our future! Dinner was meh. Food portions were small for what you got - bit i figured i was paying for the convenience of being connected to the pepsi center! There are other things that look tasty and i might give them a try. We had eaten lunch at a weird hour so were not super hungry this last visit, so we bellied up to the bar (as others have said, if you intend to eat dinner, make a reservation). We didn't see any appetizers that looked super appealing so we went with the donuts. Yummy! All in all, the ability to get a beer to go will keep me coming back, and the staff makes it a fun and enjoyable experience! Cheers!

Went for the Nugs game Friday night. Thieving bartender took a photo of my debit card at the register thinking nobody saw him. I had to cancel card while in the bathroom. I notified the other bartender to tell management. I doubt he did.

A friend of mine turned me on to this place INSIDE the Pepsi Center. I have yet to try any of the food, but it's a good place to grab a drink before you head in to the game, concert, or miscellaneous special event. The place is usually packed pre-event, but the staffing is adequate and getting a drink has never been an issue. I recommend hitting the smaller bar, to the left as you enter, for a reduced wait time. There is also adequate indoor and outdoor seating if you are able to find a table for a pre-event nosh. My favorite thing about the BSG is that you can essentially wait in line inside on colder nights. There is an entrance to the Pepsi Center that allows you to bypass waiting in the frigid outdoor setting.

  • BA M.

As a season ticket holder, I've been there a few times. The only reason I can see going is for pregame drinks. The food is pricey and doesn't even sniff the justification of the prices. The $14 burger ia a hockey puck on a stale bun. The fries tasted like they were made an hour ago. The $16 French dip followed the theme of other reviews as being soggy. ... I get that everything at sports venues is overpriced, but these are REALLY basic dishes that require so very little effort to even reach the "decent" standard. I haven't tried some of the more expensive dishes simply because the other reviews say don't do it and in don't want to pay extra for further disappointment The second star was only due to solid service

We go to Blue Sky Grill every home Mammoth game. This time was not so great. We asked for some condiments for our food....never came. Never got one refill of water. We've always had great service, not sure what happened this time.

We had tickets to a Saturday day Avalanche game at the Pepsi Center and there was only about a 10 minute wait for a table which was great! The place was packed to the gills but our server was still on top of things. After ordering a round of beers we then ordered our lunches; steak tacos for 2 of us, calamari and the french dip. The tacos were pretty good - decent flavor but the steak was cold. Deciding to mack the 3 tacos because the puck was about to drop I didn't complain. They were out of the chicken chili as it was a snowy day. Bummer. Cool spot to hang out at though before and or after an even at the Pepsi Center!

i've made two visits to shock top lodge in the past week and a half. the positives are location and ability to walk through to the pepsi center with food and drinks. the menu is briefer than blue sky grill, which is fine and makes sense because people want to eat and get to their seats in a timely manner. however, the food is indifferent, as if it is prepared elsewhere and purchased frozen. the chicken fried pork chop was so tough that you couldn't cut it with a wide steak knife. the chicken sandwich had no seasoning or sauce, and the bun was cold and dry. we asked for catsup, mustard, and ranch dressing to try and make it more palatable. i hope these are growing pains and the food improves. they need to keep in mind that brooklyns is only a few yards away.

Heading to Pepsi center for a game or concert or whatever? Grab a bite here. We'd never been before and decided to have dinner before the mammoth game and see what it was like. I'll be honest the food, meh. Not bad, but not great. We'll try again and maybe just grab a snack in the bar. What really made it awesome was the fact that you can order a beer to go (they put it in a plastic cup) and go out the back door right into Pepsi center. Ticket takers are there and all. No line no fuss and you have a beer that isn't $8 Not too shabby. Decor is more or less stereotypical Colorado. Antlers, leather, wood and shit. But the service was good, our waiter was super cool.

  • Cindy M.

The service was not good. We ordered drinks and they took forever to get them. Our order came incorrect and they took it back and corrected, then as we were finishing someone brought out the entire tables order again! We sat and sat waited for our check, never had the opportunity to order another drink, had to ask another waiter for water refills. Finally got our check and had to wait forever to get our credit card back. 2 of us ordered the shredded pork tacos and they were large lumps of grissly meat, not shredded at all. The entire experience was bad.

This place is convenient if attending a concert or game at the venue...but that's where it ends. Be prepared as the menu is limited and a few items may not be served. The restaurant is only open during events, so their inventory will be lacking. Came here on a Wednesday at 530p, before a Nuggets game. Party of 2 shouldn't be difficult to accomodate, right? We had reservations but it took 15min to seat us and wait for someone to take just a drink order. My son and I ordered wings for app (12 bucks for 8 wings) and the filets as our meal. It took an hour before we got our 1st bite and the steak was not so hot, taters cold and mediocre taste at best. They comped us a dessert (whoop dee doo) and managed to make us late for tip off (7pm). This used to be part of our mother\son annual outings when the Mavs were in town. We will reconsider dining elsewhere in the future.

Don't bother ordering the nachos if you're looking for real cheese. Finished a Mammoth game craving some of those great nachos from Blue Sky before finding out it's now Shock Top. The dish I looked forward to came out with that junk fake crap with every chemical on the periodic chart in it. If I wanted raunchos, I'd ordered them in the Pepsi Center.

Menu changes from blue sky grill to shock top Lodge are not good. Winter salad is gone. Do not order blackened salmon nicoise salad. Salmon was not blackened. Greens were very bitter with too much of a very oily dressing. Yuck! Prime rib French dip sandwich had meat in only half of the sandwich. Fillet dinner was not hot. Calamari was good but not as good as it used to be on the old menu. Prime rib dinner was very good. Atmosphere is great.

IF YOU LIKE BAD SERVICE, AWFUL FOOD, AND PAYING AN ARM AND A LEG FOR IT - THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU! It's now the Shock Top Lodge and it was TERRIBLE!!! I come here frequently before games, while it's always been overpriced d/t being located in the Pepsi center, I have had pretty good experiences up until the other night and I have no desire to ever go back. They have changed the menu some and from what we had I would not recommend anything! They also removed some of the healthier options an added VERY unhealthy items. Went before the Avalanche game 3/28. The service was terrible. The waitress was rude and acted like we were inconveniencing her by being there. I had a grilled chicken sandwich (nothing special just an overpriced chicken sandwich) My mother got the Brisket sandwich and it was nothing but fat. I mean LARGE LARGE pieces of FAT! There was barely any actual meat and for $16 it should be way better quality. (Dicky's BBQ has a Brisket sandwich for $5 and it has no fat) IT IS VERY OBVIOUS THAT THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT QUALITY OR CUSTOMERS ONLY MONEY. I WILL TAKE MY BUSINESS ELSEWHERE FROM NOW ON

Great for dinner before an event/game at Pepsi Center! Love the Colorado Lodge atmosphere/decor. Very limited menu/wine list, but food was great! We had the ribeye and the scallops - both were good. Service was professional and timely, the server was helpful in selections. I agree with others - reservations are a must.

Appetizers and salads are well priced, but the main dishes are rather pricey. Fun to come here before a game, however. Interesting place (kind of like a mountain lodge). Great to see why they got their eco-friendly construction awards. Everything here is salvaged, recycled and neatly arranged, to make you feel like you are in the old west (magic kingdom style). The food? Well, nothing will blow your mind or make you crave for more. All the flavors were rather bland, perhaps by design (so as not to offend any palettes)...very similar to good hotel food. To sum it up, I'll quote the-husband: "Next time, let's go eat somewhere really good and cool downtown and then come here for drinks".

What a disappointment. I thought this would be a better dining experience than stadium food so I left the game to eat some quality food. It was just stadium food. My burger was room temperature and dry. Tasted like middle school cafeteria and was $14. How does this place stay in business?

Where to start. Love the ambience. The dark wood and dim lighting is awesome. Nice and spacious seating dont have to worry about what your neighbor is saying or if they can hear your conversation. Food is delicious. Nice place to grab a bite to eat before watching a Nuggets or Avs or Mammoth game.

  • Jessica C.

Dining before the Nuggets game, the place is packed, the drinks are good, and the crowd is mixed. No complaints about the wait staff, the wait was annoying, but convenient, when the wait staff calls your cell phone. The crowd wasn't too loud to the point you couldn't hear the person across from you, but get ready to be distracted. TVs behind the center bar, and cozy cabin feel. The Salmon salad is the best, as in best I've ever had. My friend's Buffalo burger was gone just as quickly as my Salmon salad. I am going back to BSG before a Nugget's game anytime!

Nice bar to get a drink prior to a game. Good selection of Colorado beers with Blue Moon, Fat Tire and Coors Light on tap among others. Large space with separate bar and restaurant areas. I didn't get a chance to look at the food menu as we went only for beers. There is a back entrance to the arena so you can enjoy your beers until close to starting time and avoid the long ticket lines by going directly to the arena through the back of the restaurant.

Online reservation worked great... wait staff was awesome... food was way below standard... prime rib was tough and had very little flavor... they were out of the bacon wrapped meat loaf and this was a chef selection... keep in mind that we arrived shortly after they opened and they were out of this selection. I will not go back...

Abandon all hope ye who enter here . Got here at 6:05 and ordered food to-go within 5 minutes of arrival. Nothing unusual just a sandwich and tacos. Almost am hour later and still no food. The only reason they get two stars is the hustle of the bar tenders.

I absolutely love this place for the pre and post game whether it be for the Avs (my favorite), Mammoth, Nuggets, Concert, etc.. Although I am a little bummed that they changed the name from the Blue Sky to Shock top, I'm still a huge fan and I will probably always call it the Blue Sky just because I'm old school like that. I have to say that the bartenders make this place what it is!! My absolute favorite bartender is Matty! That dude is a great addition to the bar... To whomever runs that place: Don't ever get rid of him...I may not ever come back if so :-) I also really enjoy sitting at the bar when it is Ryan or Tommy..Not sure of last names there. All in all, this is a great place to meet people before and after the game. Plus you can take your drinks into the game from the bar and they serve drinks throughout the whole game as well as afterwards. Also, I can't speak positively or negatively about the food here as I have actually never sat down and ate, I'm always too busy being pumped for the game and ready to do some drinkin!

Went to game 7 of the hockey playoffs and too the train down to Pepsi Center. My wife and I didn't have enough time to go anywhere further away, so we chose Blue Sky Grill. Our mistake. I understand prices are inflated at this type of venue, but why did the food have to be so bad? We ordered $12 nachos and $16 street tacos. The nachos were cold, had some kind of crappy cheese sauce and the chicken that was on them was like rubber. Needless to say we barely ain't any. We left them 3/4 full. The tacos looked better. But, not to be outdone by the gross nachos, the tacos also left a lot to be desired. Stale tortillas, rubber steak and flavorless sauce. What a waste. The only good part about our meal was the Alaskan IPA we drank. It's hard to screw up draft beer. Total cost of our meal was over $50! I wonder how disappointed I would have been if I had ordered the $40 ribeye. This place obviously doesn't have to worry about food quality, since there is no other pre-game option except Brooklyn's near by. My advice. Plan better than I did and NEVER. waste your time eating here

  • Trish B.

We usually do the Grill before Hockey Games. As a season ticket holder I make all of my reservations early. You also can get your drinks here and carry into the stadium. Cheaper than the arena with no lines. Delivered right to your table. New menu is great and they have a decent variety. I have always had excellent service.

  • Megan S.

I don't love it here. And here is why... I ordered a second to-go drink from our server because the game was about to start and I didn't want to waste my life away in a drink line inside. The server came back with a fancy glass -- clearly not a to-go cup. When I asked for a cup I could take inside he brought me the standard size plastic cup. I dumped my drink in and realized it only went 1/3 of the way up! Talk about getting cheated out of a standard drink. He laughed and said that it was my bad luck. Hmmph. Skip the drinks here and just go inside, the prices are the same and you get more for your money if you wait in the standard drink line (shocking I know).

Only open on games and you better make a reservation. Ate here last night, 4-3-11, before the Avalanche game. Had the Firecracker Shrimp, Sirloin Burger, kid's chicken fingers and two Blue Moons.=$49 plus $10 tip. OK, as for the overall service and ambiance I give it 4 stars. Food, honestly, 2 stars. The Firecracker Shrimp appitizer tasted amazing but was a little greasy and the sauce that was served with it had been in the cup awile and formed a "skin" on top. Eww! Suggestion, pour the sauce in the cup before serving. Don't refridgerate it! The burger,,,, it was good, BUT, they could have used fresher tamatoe slices and they could at least make thier own pickels. The fries were tastey. The kid's chicken fingers were good but not over the top. If I have a coupon or a free meal ticket is probably the only way I'd be back. I sure wouldn't pay those prices out of pocket. Brooklyn's, in my opinion, is FAR better and at alot more reasonable price.

This is one of my favorite places to hit before Avs games. The atmosphere is amazing. I feel like I'm back in some ranch in Montana. Great service and an awesome bar to hit before seeing any sporting events at the Pepsi Center. You can get into the Pepsi Center directly from the restaurant which is pretty cool so bring your tickets with you. My fav's are the salmon caesar and their Buffalo burger. The restaurant itself is pretty amazing. You wouldn't know it but the amazing wood and timber throughout the restaurant is from recycled used snow fencing and timber from forest fires. It's a kinda place where I'd wear cowboy boots to if I owned them.

If you want to actually eat here on a game night, Make.A.Reservation. Early enough, it wasn't too busy, but about an hour before game time this place was packed. The food was really good, and reasonably priced as well. Blue Sky's ambience was great - kind of dim, cozy, and classy.

This is an update to my previous review. Since I dinked them with two stars last time, I thought I should update with a slightly better rating. As I had expected, we went back to the Blue Sky before an Avs games, because it is so darn convenient. I didn't expect much, but I was pleasantly surprised. I think I may have found the trick to enjoying the BLue Sky - stay away from the over priced, over cooked burgers, and have something a little more upscale. We had the seafood pasta, and the salmon nicose. The salmon was cooked perfectly, and the green beans still had a slight crunch. The pasta was excellent, with inch think strips of fresh pasta, tons of shrimp and a wonderful sauce. The only downside was that out of five mussels decoratively placed around the edge of the plate, one was unopened. You would think that would have been noticable as a result of the presentation? We had a reasonably priced bottle of New Zealand sauvignon blanc to complete the meal. I do have to say that the light was so bad at our table that the waiter tried to open up the screw top with a courkscrew! Our waiter, Chris, provided excellent service. The only downside to the service is that they have someone from the kitchen deliver the food, and she flatly refused to bring a dish for the mussel shells.

Wow, I feel like I am in a chalet of a rich rancher, and oh dear, oh my, what is that, it is a giant stuffed bear... grrrrrrrr Welcome to The blue sky grill... This bar/restaurant resides right inside the Pepsi Center on the bottom floor, and is only open when there is an event poppin' in the Center itself. I was here not to long ago with my girlfriends after a Nuggets game, and we loved it. The facility is huge, and the bar makes you feel like you are at a fancy rancher's home... except without the hot cowboys and horse owners to buy you drinks... But anyway, the bar is a hot place to be, or you can take a seat at one of the many booths/tables surrounding the bar or looking down on to the bar. Ironically, this place made it on to my green list, as for their interior architecture includes green features such as the ceilings, which are built from reclaimed snow fencing. Fallen timber that was salvaged from a horrible Yellowstone National Park fire is used for the walls and support beans, while the floor blanks are from early 19th century threatened barns. Strategy: Go after an event at the Pepsi Center and then eye other people's food... Especially the huge nachos... eventually they will give in and share. * Star one is for a rockin' ranch/ski lodge theme ** Cowboy star number two is for being environmentally conscious and using tons of reclaimed materials *** Our friendly star number three is for big huge dishes and appetizers that help you to make friends **** Our last star is for dim low-lighting, which makes everyone look hot Our hard-to-get fifth star galloped away due to the grill only being open when events are taking place!

We came here before the Avs game on Saturday. We hadn't eaten all day so we scoped this place out as a good place to get a quick snack before the game. We ordered the chicken nachos, which are always a safe, pedestrian bet. But these nachos were far from pedestrian; they were delicious! We received a heaping plate of chips covered with pulled chili-spiced chicken, cheese, fresh guacamole, crushed black beans, tomatoes, lettuce, sour cream and probably more. The chips were layered well so there were no soggy chips at the bottom. Combined with some draft beer, this was some great snack. Very nice staff and a crazy lodge atmosphere... complete with animals heads on the wall.

Pretty place. Took my DH to his first Av's game so he took me to dinner here ! We started with a few beers and a plate of bruchetta. It was amazing. The person who served the appetizer sort of slammed it down ON our menus which we were still reading and ran away. When our entrees arrived, the food delivery person also left the dishes from our appetizer on the table and then sort of shoved our entree plates where they would fit between the dirty dishes. And ran away. I ordered the chicken tortilla soup. It tasted as if it had been reheated 1564681645 times. The chicken was stringy and broken down, and the texture was as if someone had scraped the bottom of a pot of old soup and served it up to me. Bleah. I couldn't eat it. My husband's sandwich and fries looked good though. I could pretend it was awesome because of the ambiance and the excitement of the game. But I won't. Our waitperson was nice. Her support staff was sloppy and in too much of a hurry. Maybe we will go back for appetizers and drinks, but not for their over-priced bar food.
