My first tastes of Popeye's were in Nebraska and Mississippi, but that was a few years ago. Returning from a conference, we were all hungry, and two of us remembered that Popeye's, so decided to stop at the Federal Street Popeye's. The menu was very different from what I remembered. Many changes, less options. The chicken was moist; take a lesson, KFC. That was what I liked most about our orders. I asked for spicy chicken, wished it had been a little spicier. A cohort who ordered "mild" chicken said it was too spicy, wondering whether both mild and spicy were prepared using the same utensils. I tasted a companion's Shrimp Po' Boy; it was quite unspectacularly good. I rarely notice ethnic prejudice directed at me, and when I do I let it slide. It slid here. If you want to have a happier server, give your order quickly and clearly. Don't make them wait while you decide, and don't drag your order out; say it all in one breath. Don't get upset if you are asked three or four times whether you want mild or spicy, BECAUSE YOU WILL BE. I miss the old Popeye menu, and the very friendly, bend-over-backwards courtesy of the servers. When will I be returning to this location? When it's December in hell.

As per other reviews, these guys are always out of chicken. Particularly spicy chicken - which I thought was the whole concept behind Popeye's. Always out, always have to wait. It's obvious no one with management training is working here - they completely run out of their main item - and then, and only then, does it ring a bell to prepare some more. No preparation for further orders, no staging, no mgmt., going on. Becoming another typical Denver Popeye's.

I've never waited so long for something that sucked so bad. I've been to Popeye's once before and it wasn't too bad. This particular location is near the crib and I was in a hurry to grab something quick and get home to do some Netflixin'. I drive by this place all the time and it's always busy, which would lead me to believe that it may be decent enough. Huge mistake on my part and I should have known better. My first mistake was going through the drive-thru even though there were no other cars in the parking lot and only one car ahead of me in line. I know I mentioned this place always seems busy, but for whatever reason it wasn't at this particular moment. They must of had to personally kill the chicken for the people in front of me and go down to Louisiana to catch the shrimp - I waited that long. I considered just pulling away and going somewhere else, but I had already invested too much time. My second mistake was that I didn't stick with the chicken and biscuits. I ordered the shrimp Po' Boy sandwich and it came with fries, but I also got a side of coleslaw. I love coleslaw. The sandwich sucked it big time. The bread was like rubber, no joke, and the shrimp was horribly salty. The fries were `meh, but I actually didn't mind the coleslaw- it had a nice little kick to it. Needless to say, when I got home I ate a couple of the fries, threw away over half the sandwich, ate most of the coleslaw; and then heated up a can of SpaghettiO's and put on a Netflix movie.

Complete and utter incompetence runs this location!! I will drive out of my way to the Arvada location just to avoid coming here. They messed up my order, overcharged me, and didn't even have a key to open up the register and give me a refund. There are primarily 12-year-olds running this place, which is probably why they can't seem to get a single order right and get completely overwhelmed by only a few customers coming in. I've come here at least half a dozen times and the experience is always the same. Really, there is no point to posting this review on Yelp. I should just be calling the owner of this restaurant and asking why he/she enjoys losing money so much.

NOLA native here and frequent customer of Popeyes establishments everywhere. I've ordered a 10 piece dinner in my home town at midnight and gotten better chicken than in this place at 8pm. Dry chicken, dry sides, WAY over cooked biscuit. Terrible. Really what can I say that hasn't already been said?

I LOVE fried chicken. I LOVE mashed potatoes. I LOVE when people cook for me so I can be lazy. I usually LOVE Popeye's. This particular Popeye's? Not so much... I cannot count the number of times I have come here to be told that they are out of chicken and that it will be 28 minutes (note 28 minutes is actually an hour here) for more to be ready. How, may I ask you, does a chicken place completely run out of chicken? The first 5 times I thought it must have been the time of day I was going. This isn't the case as I have had this happen to me around the clock...maybe I have given this place too many chances. Sorry 44th and Feds Popeye's, I am breaking up with you and am hooking up with your brother on 84th and Huron. It's not me. It's you.

We walked out and drove the 8 minutes to the (Cleaner, Friendlier, more Competent) location on Sheridan. Pretty skeezy and filthy inside, ONE garbage can for the whole place, and the employee at the counter was unable to comprehend even ONE thing we said. He asked "Spicy or Mild", we said mild. We said no gravy. He said "Okay, what do you want on top of the potatoes?" Then asked "So did you want BOTH meals SPICY?" (After we'd ordered MILD.) So yeah, we turned and walked out, and had a great meal at the Popeye's we know and trust at Sheridan and 64th-ish.

We were there on tuesday for a quite pick up .Wrong , there were 6/7 people in the front mostly running into each other &speaking nothing but spanish .it was taking forever.so I went &sat in the eating area, to my surprise there was a youg lady holding a Alaskan Malamute pup , than she walked up to the front said something to a male cashier , than she went back to the table where a worker came out eating a piece of chicken joining this group of people where the dog was.than the male cashier that the girl had talked to earlier came out with a container &handed to the girl.she opened it &started feeding the dog.i than asked for the store manger , I was given the name Alex , Than the male cashier called out to the lady at the table with the dog. Than he told me she was the night manger.ok so I wont be going there anymore.I than walked out so my husband was still in there when "The Manger" stared saying alot of colorful words if u get my meaning. whats the saying "while the cats away the mice will play"

Friendly staff. Food is OK. The store needs a serious makeover. It is worn out and shabby.

Two stars = "Meh. I've experienced better." More importantly, I've experienced better at other Popeyes franchises. This specific store's consistent lack of give-a-damn suggests corporate needs to try out a secret shopper or hire a better district manager / brand police. Oh, and if anyone knows, please tell me the secret incantation to get this crew - day or night, weekend or not - to stop putting Spicy Recipe in when we keep asking for mild? I ask because phrases like "no spicy - MILD ONLY" don't seem to get the point across, or they're doing it just to mess with us because they hate their job... I have no idea, don't care. Not my circus, not my monkeys. If KFC had Red Beans & Rice, I'd just go there, it's closer to my house. The one I bought in this neighborhood 14 years ago. Yeah, we've noticed a trend over a long period of time, 'k? It's this location we have a problem with, not the brand. Someone is asleep at the wheel.
