One of the best restaurants in Denver! Owner is cool guy! He helped USA fight the Vietcong!!! Seriously he did.

After living much of last year in Hanoi, I enjoy sampling Vietnamese restaurants here in the US whenever I travel. On a quick trip to Boulderthis weekend, I found Vietnamese Cuisine on the way from DIA and was very glad I did. Their chicken pho is probably the best I've had. Ever. Aside from the standard chicken pho ingredients (fresh white meat chicken, rice noodles, onions, herbs), the ginger broth was outstanding. The portion was generously served in a large bowl with fresh lime. Really, really good. One note: it wasn't listed on the menu as standard "pho ga". I can't remember the name, but think it was listed under menu item "10SP". We also tried the springrolls which were prepared to order and also featured fresh shrimp, pork and herbs. While not on the menu, I was happy that they also served my favorite Vietnamese beverage, iced coffee. If you haven't tried it, ask for "ca phe sua da". Fresh, Veitnamese coffee served with sweetened condensed milk and served on ice is fantastic and Vietnamese Cusinse does this very well. As an out of town CU season ticket holder, I won't get back to Denver until this fall, but will be sure to visit Vietnamese Cuisine while I'm in town for each of the Buff's home games. I'd highly recommend it.

I finally found a family-owned restaurant in Denver that I want to visit regularly! Thanks to Yelp, I stumbled upon this place after a morning at the DMV, neighborhood post office and Wells Fargo, all within a few blocks of this corner. Others sing praises of the owner's customer service; that means a lot to me in my dining experience. He was wonderful and went out of the way for subtle touches to make certain that my meal was the best it could be. The place, while not packed, had the essence of 'Cheers' in that everyone seemed to be regulars. He knew the order of a couple guys who walked in even before they sat down. I had the spring rolls (as amazing as others said) and the grilled pork rice "plate", which was a huge bowl of goodness. Very fresh ingredients, the meat was as flavorful as any I've had in Colorado, anywhere. He mixed the fish sauce at my table, a la guacamole at upscale Latin restaurants. Just a couple miles north of campus on Peoria and 47th. Stop by for great food, nice prices and excellent service!

Tried it again. Better this time. You just have to ask for more veggies and dark meat. We will probably go back.

Authentic Vietnamese food at a great value. I had a huge portion of beef lemongrass for under $7. Summer rolls were excellent, maybe the best i've had yet. The owner is very friendly and took the time to explain the menu items and mix us up some different sauces. If I lived in Denver I'd go here all the time

One of my favorite places in Denver. I try to go there whenever I'm in town. They have a variety of vietnamese dishes. Their pho is pretty good, and their rice noodle dish (especially with lemongrass beef) are nice on summer days. I especially recommend bun bo hue on cold days which is a spicy beef broth and not found in other places I've been. Only reason it has only 4 stars because the ambience could be a little better but it is a great hole-n-the-wall type of place that is a treasure to find.

Great food! Good service in the middle of nowhere. They have alot of different soups including a pho. The Spicy beef stew soup was great.

My wife and I checked into a cheap motel by Denver airport so we won't have to hustle too much in the morning. It's vacation after all. We also were not picky for dinner because we hit a lot of the top spots in Boulder, and simple food would have been just fine. Before Yelp, we'd have gone to the pub at the corner or one of the chains nearby, but we in the mood for Vietnamese. Vietnamese Cuisine had the highest rating, so we figured, why not? This is a very simple place, hidden on the far side of a non-descript strip mall. There we no cars in front, and no one inside. We got there just 1/2 hour before closing time. The menu is simple and small, just two pages, so we had no trouble deciding what sounded good. We ordered spring rolls, a seafood noodle soup and a chicken noodle bowl, assuming the food will be simple and quickly made. Well, it WAS simple and quick, and oh so GOOD. But there's more. The owner came out and asked how spicy we like our food, and demonstrated how to prepare the condiments to our liking. He asked whether we had any allergies to the peanut sauce, and spent time explaining how each dish was made. I think, because he never saw us before, he assumed this was our first taste of Vietnamese food. I have to say, we both were totally charmed by this gentleman. But wait, there's a bit more. The chicken in the noodle bowl was marinated and flavorful, with an interesting range of good textures in each bite. The broth in the seafood soup was the best I've ever tasted. We weren't starving when we went in, but only a stray noodle or two were left when we were done, This place was a delightful surprise, and will be a stop on our next trip to this area. Also my faith in Yelp users (Yelpers?) is strengthened.

My coworkers and I stopped into this place after a hike. It's really close to where we work and where I live. I wasn't WOWed by it like a lot of people seem to have been, but it was good. Something unique about the fresh spring rolls. I usually go to Phö Duy II now cuz my coworker likes that one better, but maybe I'll give this place another shot. There's no boba though! And I feel like next time I'll ask for less cilantro in the broth.

My family has been going here for literally 20 years and it's never faltered. It's a family owned restaurant and the guy is most friendly person you'll ever meet. He has THE BEST SPRING ROLLS in the entire city, and I've tried quite a few. His grilled meats in his noodle bowls can't be touched either. Every time I eat there he comes by and mixes the sauces I'll need to everyone individual taste (spicy's the way to go) and just loves what he's doing. His food proves it. He does it simple, he does it big, he does it right. He's fair on his prices too, especially for how much you get when you're eating there. You will keep coming back to this place after you go there once, I guarantee it!

I've eaten here for over 10 years, and always enjoy it. But this week I hit upon what will be my new favorite dish -- the 13-SP. A spicy beef broth with thick noodles, beef shank, cilantro and a few mixed vegetables. It is delicious! Since this restaurant doesn't serve Pho (except just a couple of weeks each winter), the soups are a good alternative. It's true, this place is not fancy. The parking lot is also hectic. But the food is very good, the owner cares about his business and it's a perfect place to grab lunch with friends or co-workers in a relaxed setting.

This may be a hole in the wall-mom and pop shop and the presentation may not be the prettiest, but their food reminds me of my mom's home cook Vietnamese food, which I miss very much. I usually order the bun (vermicelli) thit nuong or the com thit nuong (rice and grilled pork). You can't go wrong with those dishes. The owners are very kind and personal. They mix the fish sauce for you at your table and take their time to talk to each of their customers. I will definitely return and don't mind the 10min drive from the Anschutz Medical Campus.

This place recently opened in the old Vietnamese Cuisine location in the Peoria strip mall. Service at lunchtime on a weekday was fast and the crab cheese wontons were delicious. I had the pho with rare steak and it was the best pho that I have had in this area. I am looking forward to trying the numerous noodle bowls on the menu!

This restaurant is closed down, appears to be bought out by pho 999 but not reopened yet.

So the reason why I gave this place was a 2 star was really becuase of the fact that this place doesnt serve basil with the pho and the siracha and hoisin sauce seems to be watered down. I also thought that the soup base was rather bland and not seasoned well. Ive been to a few other places in the area and this place was by far the bottom of my list,

Awesome diamond in the rough. Can't believe we've lived near here for 8 years and only recently discovered it. You wouldn't think much of it driving by, as it's tucked between a sketchy check casher and a barbershop, but give it a shot and you'll be hooked like everyone else. Owner/server/busboy seems to know most of the regulars, when we were there he sat down with several and chatted before their food was ready. He preps the sauces at your table and will customize the level of spice. Super friendly with my family and young kids, even brought some cookies over for them at the end of our meal. Oh and you will think you've been undercharged, the food is so plentiful and the prices so reasonable.

The food was pretty good. Usually a Pho place is like a fast food restaurant. It took forever to get our Pho. This is not like a typical Pho' restaurant. No hoisin sauce on the table, no basil, small portion of garnish. If you order Bun or rice dish, it does not come with the typical fish sauce. If you order egg roll, it comes with noodle and pickle, but it does not come with lettuce to wrap it with. And no fish sauce! The food was pretty good though.

Nice little place. Looks like family run. Good Pho. Oddly enough I really liked the shrimp rolls. They were very good. The meat in the Pho was plentiful, rare, perfect. Had good flavor. The only draw back was the jalapeño were cut too big to enjoy. I'll be back.

Since the change of name and I was a little under the weather, I ask Hubs to order our Dinner from here.. This recent visit was on Tuesday November 11th 2014. Pho 999 offer the norm of Appetizers, Pho, Com (Rice Plates), Bun (Rice Noodle Bowls), Beverages, and Sinh To (Smoothies) to name a few. We ordered our food as TO GO ORDER : * Crab Cheese Wontons ($4.50) * Medium Bowl Shrimp Pho aka Pho Tom ($7.45) * Grilled Beef Plate aka Com Bo Nuong Cha Gio ($8.50) The Shrimp Pho, the Beef Broth was ok, nothing fancy, nothing stellar - they can do better. There are 6 shrimp, some Bean Sprouts, 3 slices of Green Jalapeno, 2 stalks of Basil, slices of raw white onions, some "sprinkle" of green onions aka chopped scallions. As for the Grilled Beef Plate its doable, ok.. We DO NOT consume the Egg Roll since it contains PORK - we threw it away... Overall all the food we ordered are JUST OK. Take note, ADDITONAL ($0.25) is charged for each item for TAKE OUT. Each EXTRA Topping is ($1.95). Even though we are offered 20% Discount, since we ordered after 17:00hrs ish, nothing special to entice us to return. PHO 999, is OPEN DAILY from 10am to 9pm. I was working in the area and just wanted to grab something quick to eat for lunch-- this place was down the street, so I decided to give it a try. The restaurant is located in a run down shopping plaza and isn't too impressive to the eye, but don't let that turn you away! I ordered my go to vietnamese dish-vermicelli bun with bbq pork and iced vietnamese coffee to go. The vermicelli portion was very generous, more than I could eat, and pretty tasty, maybe a little bit more fatty than I'd like. However, the iced coffee was a little bit of a let down, you usually can't go wrong with this item, but their coffee had an extra burn coffee flavor. I should note, the prices were a little bit on the pricey side for a bun bowl. The place seems to have a good following of local business employees and for good reason! If you're wanting a quick, satisfying meal this is a good bet!

Stop by for lunch on my business trip! This place served amazing bowl of Pho. As a Vienamese person, I have to give kudos to the this place. The beef broth soothed my taste very well. I was not surprised that there was not much fatty taste into the broth, which in turn made it feel easy in my stomach. The meat was thick and tasty. It was well tenderized. U just hope their menu served more pho creativity like oxtail, duck, etc. It would make them improve to the new level. But in general, a bowl of pho that feel like home!

  • Rob S.

I really like Pho...and I'm not to picky when it comes down to it. However, there are some basics you can't fall short on. First, the broth has to have some flavor...never side step the broth! Second, never serve frozen spring rolls. Third...if your door shows an American Express card and your menu states "We Accept" an American Express card and your Take Out Menu lists an American Express card...you should probably consider accepting the card as a form of tender or REMOVE THE LOGO!!! The one star has nothing to do with the AmEx issue and is specially valued on the food alone. Not worth the visit.

This was another in a string of okay, but not great restaurants I have been to recently. I was meeting a friend up towards DIA, and we popped in here most based on it being on the way to our destination. The place was almost empty, but the service (getting menus, food, refills) was a bit slow. We started with the Vietnamese spring rolls. They were somewhat dry and the peanut sauce was on the gummy side. Upon their recommendation, we went with the beef stew soup (this is a spicy beef shank stew with largish noodles). The flavor was good, but not great. The serving size was okay. The noodles were perhaps a touch overcooked. The Vietnamese iced coffee I had was fine. I would be willing to come back to they the Pho.

This place is fantastic. I just ordered take out of pho and goi cuon. I haven't ordered take-out from any Vietnamese establishment so I was a bit skeptical at first. I was pleasantly surprised by how tasty it was! The broth and meats were nicely seasoned and the noodles were well cooked. I had to reheat the broth a bit but that was to be expected. I could only imagine how brilliant it would have been in person. Now, forewarning about the location, if you are new to the area it can be a little precarious. The restaurant itself is well maintained albeit decorated in the early 90's. But really, who cares! you're going to eat the Pho not the decor! In general, I'd like to say there is an inverse relationship between style, decor, cleanliness and the overall food quality. Meaning, the dirtier, sketchier, and less modern an establishment is, the better the food will be. I gave it four stars because the goi cuon wasn't quite what I expected - there was some seasoned beef and the peanut sauce wasn't as peanut-y as it typically is. It wasn't bad, just different. Oh. And it is super inexpensive.

Since the ownership change from the Vietnamese Cusine restaurant to pho 999, I am really dissatisfied with the food. Sure they cleaned up the dinning room decor and got a big TV, but pho price is about a buck fifty higher from everyone else in town and the quantity of food is very small. Not a bad pho but value wise, not good at all.

Good service, eggroll is unique very different from houston vietnamese restaurant. Definitely getting the seafood combination noodle soup.

Service sucked. 20% off sign was bullshit. I finished my food and went to pay. They gave me bullshit by saying the 20% off was only good after 5pm... well yhen maybe put only after 5pm on the sign that says 20% off. Pho tasted watered down. Noodles were short of. The veggies looked like it was recycled. Horrible service. 1 star because of such disregaurd for the customer. Dont put things up that you cant promise.

Interesting place kinda small, came here with my girlfriend after dropping our friends to the airport the people are very nice and attentive. I ordered a p13 medium the broth looks clear and tasted really good and they gave plenty of meat and noodles and it was pretty fufilling. Yet there is still many more pho places for me to try and compare till I find the best one .

WE LOVE THIS PLACE :) My favorite thing is the Seafood soup with the fat noodles......... and of course the owner Mr. Duong. We ate here 2 days in a row as we were craving it the very next day. We moved from New York and always look for our local choice noodle spot. This place is it and will be our new go to for all things "noodly" and yummy. The owner is the nicest and sweetest man. It is wonderful when an owner is great to the customers. When that happens with compliment to the food being great, it is a real treat. He takes pride in his variable broths with the specific soups, as do I take great pleasure in the trying them all. Most places use the same broth for there soups where he uses a specific one for each. He has at least 6 on the soup menu. The extra treat to our meal was our french coffee. We had never had it so Mr. Duong took the time to give us a bit of back story on how this drink is enjoyed by Vietnamese people. He also prepared it for us at the table while giving us a most charming warning about drinking it to quickly. Allowing the highly caffeinated to slowly make its way into your system is the way to go. Luckily for us, we were sharing the tiny, mighty drink and it was sufficient for the pair of us to get a fair "pick me up." My wife and I summed up our experience as such: Eating at Mr. Duong's place is like going over your favorite aunt or uncles house for a meal, and having them prepare the yummiest most comforting food especially for you. The air is relaxed and light. When you find your "go to" dish, you can't stay away. "Uncle.......Whats for Dinner?" :) :) :)

This hole in the wall is a true gem! Summary: I went in with a friend and we didn't say one word while wolfing down our noodles. We were completely stuffed, drank every last drop of the soup, and paid around $6.50 each (regular Pho and spicy beef noodle soup). The owner is a very kind man and definitely takes pride in his work. He brings over our sauce bottles and unscrewed the caps so we wouldn't have to. Talk about being considerate. He also checks up on us twice in the most non-intrusive and polite manner. We were thoroughly impressed, and can't wait to try out the rest of their menu.

I'm not impressed. Maybe it's because I got take out, but almost nothing was right. I asked for a large chicken pho with no cilantro. I got a large beef pho with no cilantro, no onions, and no basil. My noodles are sticky, and the broth is a little too salty for me. Next time I'm sick, I'll try the only other pho place near me.

Quick stop on the way to the DIA/ Denver airport. Gimme them spring rolls to go! The portions are generous and the staff is very friendly. The ambiance is nothing special but who cares? This is good, cheap food. The shopping mall it's in is nothing to write home about. I saw a couple of dodgy people around but nothing that could deter me from returning to the restaurant.

Had the egg rolls and beef pho. Both were delicious. Good value. The portions were generous and I especially appreciated that all the 'fixins' for the pho came on the side. The broth was delicious and I loved that I could add what I wanted to it- from noodles to jalapenos to limes. The egg rolls came with a tasty fish sauce for dipping.

I had to go to the DMV one day and the friggen line was so long I figured I could go get lunch while I waited. I totally randomly spotted this place and from the looks of it from the outside, I was a little worried. It really is a little hole in the wall place in a random run down strip mall. When I entered, however the room was pretty full of customers which is a very good indicator of good food. And it was good! I got the rice noodle bowl with shrimp to go. Under 7 bucks with tax and the to go box was HEAVY, filled to the brim with tasty goodness. The shrimp were big and there were 6 of them where many places give you 4-5 small ones. If it wasn't so far away from my house I'd eat there all the time. I'm definitely going back as soon as I can.

Nice mom-and-pop place for lunch. My grilled pork on noodles was excellent. Note that more veggies are beneath the noodles, so dig in early. Friendly folks. This'll be a new favorite stop enroute to the airport.
