Lunch was awesome! Delicious pho. I ordered the shrimp pho and spring rolls. Both were perfect. This is a more salty and heavy pho but I didn't have to dr it like other places. Great looking fish tank at the front door- shows the cleanliness of the establishment.

I am a big pho connoisseur in the LA and Orange County area. The Pho Thai was okay, came out lukewarm. I'm not sure that I would recommend it. What was really good was the Bun with grilled beef. Delicious and recommended. I am not sure how the pricing compares with other Denver area Pho places...Pho and Bun prices seemed reasonable but Bun Bo Hue, Ban Xeo and Banh Cuon seemed $1-$2 higher than necessary. Shocking was that Che Ba Mau was being offered at $5 (a $3 drink in OC). I felt the drinks were overpriced. The staff spoke English very well and service was better than average for a Vietnamese restaurant. Probably a good introduction to the cuisine for those who are new to Vietnamese food. Parking was plentiful and everything was clean.

I am a bit of a Pho snob. Pho 79 has the best broth. This used to be the only pho restaurant I would eat at, but as the expanded and they spread out employees the service became TERRIBLE! Still the best pho in town but customer service needs a lot of work.

I'm really torn on this one. On the one hand, the other reviewers are right. The broth here is fantastic, the best I have had in Denver, and that's the key element of a good bowl of pho. Furthermore, the service was quite good. Everyone was unbelievably sweet and prices were very good. But there were some downsides. First, our booth had a noticeable locker room aroma to it. No bueno. Also, the condiments on the table were just hoisin and sriracha, with none of the other fish and chili sauces you get elsewhere. In their defense, they can probably get you these if you ask. The standard pho garnish plate had sprouts, peppers, lime, and thai basil, but no culantro or anything else. All in all, it was tasty, and I could be talked into going back. The staff were very nice but there were some shortcomings.

Spring rolls barely had any noodles and lettuce, wontons were super greasy and my pho had so much cilantro and onion I could barely finish my pho. I love cilantro but it was overwhelming how much there was in there.

The pho here is good. The broth is a little too flavorful for my taste, but everyone has a different salt tolerance. The atmosphere is fun and relaxed, plus it looks clean (which can't be said of all pho restaurants). I also had the Vietnamese coffee and it was some of the best I've ever had.

I've tried pho all over town and Pho 79 is one of my most favorites, if not my most. The broth just seems more flavorful and complex than others. Service has always been good, and the place is pretty nice. It's usually busy and parking can be a bit difficult in the tight parking lot, but there's street parking nearby.

I love this restaurant, the best pho in my opinion! My husband ate the noodle bowl with chicken and he loved it! He is not a soup lover like me. The egg rolls are a must!! My only compliant is the parking lot, it is pretty busy not the easiest place to find parking.

We can't remember which restaurant was older, or more "original", Pho Duy or Pho 79? They're practically one block away from each other. I had some GREAT experience with Pho at Pho Duy last time but seeing what I really loved wasn't offered at Pho 79 (It was pho with marinated, cubed flank steak), we decided not to get Pho at all and ordered Seafood egg noodles soup instead. It was a hit, loved the thin, Asian style egg noodles, and the soup was enhanced with a bunch of fish balls and some shrimp. Our starter, the ubiquitous spring rolls, didn't disppoint at all. I think it's because they used Char Siu (Asian style BBQ pork) than just plain old steamed pork. I had low expectations for the Vietnamese Crepes since last time I had some not so good ones at Can Tho Pho, but Pho 79's pro. The crepes were awesome! Just the right amount of crunch, and veggie to meat ratio, and they looked HUGE! It tasted even better when we squeezed lime juice over it and dunked pieces in the fish sauce. It's a great alternative to fried Vietnamese egg rolls. This experience taught me a lesson: always stick to the oldies, they've existed for so long and come this far for a good reason!

Disappointed. I've heard great things through the grapevine, but reality just didn't deliver. Partner barely touched his Pho (bad sign when he has a bottomless pit for a stomach) and the egg rolls were not as described on the menu. Instead of 2 decent size eggrolls, you get 4 mini ones with barely any filling on the plate. Place was not full, and service was very slow. I was tempted to get up and walk down Federal for something faster.

I discovered Pho 79 in Littleton because it's near work. I fell in love with their Rice Plates. When I realized they have their Federal Location that's just a hop-skip from my Lakewood home, I had to try it out. I ordered take-out tonight. I went with Old Faithful: The Combination Rice Plate (See Photo). From their menu: "A combination of grilled pork, beef, shrimp, and Vietnamese eggrolls. Served with white rice, shredded carrots, cilantro, lettuce, cucumbers, and our homemade fish sauce. " What more could you want, right? There are some differences between locations. At the Littleton Location, there are 2 kinds of pork: The Grilled and the red-edged BBQ Pork, on the plate, in addition to the Beef and Shrimp (As the menu says.) At the Federal Location? There was Beef and Shrimp. Lots of it, but still. I want my Porky Goodness! At this point, though, I'll chalk it up to an anomaly. The shrimp were fresher and differently-prepared at the Federal Location, having an orange-colored seasoning. The Fried Egg was FAR superior at the Federal Location, with a delicious, Oozy, Yolky Center! Noms. Also the salad fixin's are different. At the Littleton Location, it's like the Banh Mi filling: Rice-Vinegar Infused Daikon, Carrots, and some Cucumber sliced and sitting on whole Romaine Leaves. At the Federal Location, chopped Romaine, Sliced Carrots, and Cucumber Slices, but no tang of Rice Vinegar. So I soaked it in the Fish Sauce... Oh yeah, their Fish Sauce. The Federal Location wasn't nearly as Stinky, which in my opinion isn't a good thing. I like my Fish Sauce appropriately Funky! With the kick of the red chile flakes I find at the Littleton Location. But again: Preference. Okay, enough of the comparisons. The Beef and Shrimp were hot and seasoned well, the egg was oozy goodness, and the veggies were fresh. I devoured it. I will be back to both, and I have favored items at both, so I give 'em BOTH 4 Stars.

Just left this place. I agree with other reviews that the broth is definitely good and does not need much added sauce such as sirracha or hoisin to go with it. The aroma of the broth also smelled really good. The portion was okay, had much larger portions at other restaurants down the street. Iced coffee was average. The service however, was not that great. I asked for a styrofoam cup of water for my kids because with the usual cups of water they give, my kids would definitely knock it over. The waiter was very hesitant about giving us one until I explained to him why. Service was slow even though they weren't that busy. I prefer Pho Duy down the street as their food and service is always great.

Everything was wonderful. The pho noodles and broth were perfect. The rare steak and brisket were delicious. The Thai tea and mocha boba were authentic and tasted real. And the ambiance and workers were warm and welcoming and comfortable

Had lunch here today with some guys from work I did not have the Pho. We had some spring rolls and egg roll apps and 2 ordered the combo rice plate I had the noodle bowl combo. Seemed like there could have been a bit more meat in the bowl and it was a dollar or two more than some of the others in the area but that being said it had a really good flavor and I ate every bit of it. I almost gave it 4 stars instead of 3 more like a 3.5. I would go back. The menu is not huge mostly all Pho hence the name! but they could spruce up a the plates with some additional herbs other than cilantro and be a little more generous with the meat although I may have just got the losing plate as a person who ordered the same thing as me seemed to have more in his bowl. The shrimp were definitely on the small side verging on the bay variety or at least like the ones you see up Maine, but they were not bad. The fish sauce had a really great flavor. This place is definitely worth a try, but there are just so many options on this side of town I will try a new place or go back to my favorite so it will be a while before I come back but not because the food or service was bad in any way. Give it a go...

Best Pho in denver. Period. Oh, and it's super cheap. Ethnic Ave (aka Federal) is the best place to go for Vietnamese.

Pho-mazing! Another great Pho find on Federal. Although Pho 79 is a bit quieter than some Vietnamese joints in town, the lack of customers doesn't mean the food is lacking. I for one am perplexed by those who say the pho here is bland. I think the milder flavored pho is how it should be...to many places have really salty or overspiced broth. If you want it that way, you use the provided accouterments to make it so. I think this slightly sweet and anise-flavored pho is great. Also great are the eggrolls. My lady and I shared both the fried and summer egg rolls and both were quite good. The fried rolls were perfectly cooked with a bit of a mushroomy interior accompanied by a great (though not as spicy) fish sauce. The spring rolls had both whole shrimp and pork strips inside a clean tasting rice wrapper and served with a savory peanut sauce. Next time I may just get a meal consisting solely of those delicious bites. The interior kind of reminding me of the Tropical Discover exhibit at the zoo, so that's cool. As was the efficient and friendly service. We originally only came her because Pho 95 was packed to the gills. Glad to know that picking a random pho place on Federal is pretty much a sure thing (at least so far).

This is the model pho restaurant. Service is fast, food is good, decor and attire is casual. You can order in English, Vietnamese, or Spanish. Welcome to Federal Boulevard!

This was one of the first places open Sat morning when we went and it looked pretty nice. We were seated right away which was nice because I hate having to wait for food. The broth was actually pretty good but as always, you should always make the broth to your taste. It's more important that the restaurant supply you with ample ingredients. With that said, I still think 95 makes a better pho because they give you much more and better sides. However, Pho 79 is a better place to go for big groups and they have much better decor. Pho 95 is all about the food but it's not very inviting or cozy to eat at.

I hadn't been here in many years and was not a huge fan before. There are so many pho restaurants in Denver that I never went back because I have a place I liked better. However, they may have won me back! They seem to have made a lot of improvements since I was here last and the pho was delicious. I will definitely be back.

Let's just get this thing straight, Pho 79 is delicious, and I am definitely hooked. I LOVE noodles and the noodles here are just fabulous. The herbs are also fresh, although I would like to say that the portion has gone down and the prices have gone up a tad. With that being said, I'm still fine with going here! The broth is nice and hot, fresh, and flavorful and they put in a lot of meat!

Pho 79 is the best traditional Pho noodles in Denver. Family owned, their traditional noodle bowls are guaranteed to be the same at each location. With amazing seasonal rolls and traditional Vietnamese meals they have proven to be the premiere Pho restaurant in Denver. It has received awards from The Westward and Denver Post to just name two. It's worth a visit. Affordable and Delicious.

Decent service (mostly just good to us due to repeat/frequent patronage), awesome value, DELICIOUS. Been going here for years and is by far the best Pho ever. The combination noodle bowl is to die for. Everything tastes so fresh.

  • Nico I.

Pho 79 is certainly our go to Pho place. The broth is good and they give plenty of fresh sprouts, basil and jalapeno. They are rarely overly busy at dinner time, so we're always able to walk right in and get quick service. I will say I do like Pho on 6th a touch better because of the great atmosphere and full bar, but they are considerably more expensive and more crowded. This is such an affordable, great tasting dinner...you would be hard pressed to pay less making this meal yourself with stuff from the grocery store for what you get.

What a bummer. We love the Pho 79 on 76th and Federal (great pho and service) so we went to this one since it was on our way to our destination. Walked in pretty much ready to order, yet sat there for over 10 minutes while servers did busy work and took other people's orders. Nobody bothered to greet us, or even make eye contact. A simple, "we will be right with you" would have sufficed. We ended up walking out.

There seem to be alot of Pho restaurants around Denver, so I enlisted my Vietnamese friend for recommendations for my first Pho experience. She only frequents authentic Vietnamese restauarants, so I knew I was in good hands when we arrived at Pho 79. Being a Pho virgin, I went along with whatever the experts (a.k.a: my friends) suggested and order the sliced beef, rare. It cooked perfectly in the broth. I followed their lead adding a couple of sliced jalapenos, some basil, cilantro, & bean sprouts. They directed me to sqeeze several limes into my broth as it heightens the flavor of the broth. Both of my friends like to spice up their Pho, and not being one to shy away from spicy foods, I added some pepper sauce as well as a bit of Siracha to mine as well. It was sooo good. I ordered a medium bowl and am not ashamed to say I finished most of it. We also enjoyed some sort of lettuce wraps (the name of which I forget) with shrimp and beef in them. I found myself addicted to the chili-lime dipping sauce, which I used to dip the steak from my Pho in as well. Sweet & spicy is a delicious combination! Pho 79, you've made a Pho fan of me.

The broth is only mildly fragrant and is timidly spiced. Herby additions are a tad skimpy, and not as crazy fresh as they could be. Meat is tender, flavorful but, again, a bit meagre. Service is aloof at best/bordering on rude, and inattentive. The restaurant itself is one of the larger, cleaner and "nicer" pho places along the strip (the foyer is pretty, and I like the bamboo-festooned window dressings), but is strangely lacking in charm and/or atmosphere (also, there's been a weird farty smell in the restaurant the last couple of times). Ok, so while it isn't exactly revelationary, here is my verdict: If you want absolutely superb, fantastically delicious pho, go to Pho 95 (the service and atmosphere there are just bonuses). If you're willing to settle for reasonable but not mind-blowing pho, go to any of the other noodle soup joints along S Fed, including farty Pho 79.

I am not a huge fan of Pho, but I decided to try this place based on the other DNVR Yelpers. Overall, nice fast and friendly guys for service. Seated promptly (Sat around 1pm) and given a menu. Only a few minutes passed before the order was taken (and since I was in a rush, this was cool). I got the rare beef Pho. A few minutes later, the "weeds" (as I like to refer to them!) came. The standard items were there and they looked fresh and there was lots of them (4 lime wedges, which I loved....also about 7 big slices of nice hot Jalapenos..yum!). All in all good. Not sure if the broth was bad or good...but not really memorable. Either way, if I am in the area and need some, I def would go back.

Came here on a Sunday night. The place wasn't full, but moderately busy. Only 2 servers though, which led to long wait times for attention. The table across from had to get up twice to let the staff know they were ready to order. I ordered the Pho dac biet. Broth was simple, meat was standard, but the noodles were undercooked. If I come here again, I'll try the banh cuon or banh xeo.

Love this place. Just moved from LA and ate a ton of Pho there. This place seems like it could compete with any of the those places in the Southland.

One of my favorite Pho places on Federal. The atmosphere of the restaurant has improved a lot over the years and the menu expanded.

  • Gena L.

This place has really tasty pho... probably some of the best in town. And not to gross some people out, but they are generous with the tendon, and I likes me some tendon. Atmosphere is OK, service is OK, salty lemonade almost had me licking the inside of the glass... All in all, that's some pretty good pho.

Food was good, just really shitty, SLOW service. Forgot about my friend and I after they seated us and took about 20 minutes just to get our drinks.

I had the pho and spring rolls there. The taste of the broth was excellent and the beef in my bowl was medium rare. Many times when I go to Vietnamese restaurant and eat Pho, the beef was well cooked. The spring rolls had a lot of taste with a well made peanut sauce. I would definitely return here.

I love the Bun Chuy here. It's their vietnamese salad with rice noodles, lots of fresh herbs, bean sprouts, romain lettuce, cucumbers, carrots and your choice of fried tofu, or there is also a combo option with chicken, steak, & pork. This dish is absolutely delicious and so refreshing. The herbs just burst in your mouth and it is my favorite thing on the menu. This place is a great, low key, family restaurant. This aint no five star place so people like the person who wants all the meat on the side and things just so, go somewhere else where they specialize in catering to pain in the asses like her, for god's sake if you want raw beef, this is not the place for you. Its a family run place, clean and the service is just fine. Its run by mostly men so no one gonna sweet talk you, that's just not their thing. But what they do do, make great fresh flavorful food and serve it in generous thoughtful portions in a very reasonable amount of time, they do this perfectly. I highly recommend this place! Oh, the menu says the Bun Chuy comes with Cilantro and Mint, which is how I love it, but they apparantly have changed the dish so it no longer comes with mint and cilantro, however, if you like fresh herbs like I do, ask for some on the side and they happily oblige.

I have found my vegetarian fix on Federal! I've gone to most pho places between Alameda and Evans and, while they all serve "veggie" pho, it's kind of a crap shoot whether the broth is legitimately vegetarian, so I've just moved my focus to noodle bowls which give me noodles and tofu and such without the questions. 79 has the most variety... it's not all carrots and bean sprouts. Lots of herbs, noodles are cooked perfectly, and there's plenty of it.

  • Alan W.

Great Pho! The medium size noodle bowl is generously sized and comes with a mountainous plate of fresh sprouts, basil, chili pepper, and lime. Their Pho has a very tasty beef broth -- simple but so satisfying and comforting. Prices are also cheap. This is an awesome healthy alternative to any nasty fast food restuarant. Their Vietnamese coffee is a must have. Espresso strength and on ice with some condensed milk, it's much better than the nasty coffee concoctions at Starbucks and fast food joints. Service and food was very fast. My water glass was constantly filled. The only two faults is that they do not have a selection of chili sauces, only a bottle of Siracha. I always love adding some chili oil to my Pho. And everytime I am there, there always at least one family that has uncontrolable loud children (I always hate parents of misbehaving kids) -- not very pleasant when you are trying to enjoy a bowl of savory heaven!

  • Whitney A.

This was not a very good experience for me. First, there were some good things. The decor and atmosphere is pretty neat. There is lots of bamboo and its very clean and eye catching. The Pho isn't bad, per se. The broth has a very delicate flavor and when you can taste it, it's good. I prefer a strong, aromatic and flavorful broth and this broth just wasn't that. They give you plenty of fresh veggies and the limes are well cut and thick and juicy. Now for what I didn't like so much. There is a certain way I always order my pho. I order a medium rare steak pho with extra steak and all the steak on the side. That is how I uniformly order my pho at all places and every single place has served it just that way. At this place the waiter cut me off before I could finish ordering it in order to take my fiancé's order. I let him know that I was not done yet and then finished giving him my order. He was clearly trying to suppress his amusement of some sort at my order. He had the same reaction, but with a little more surprise when my fiancé said he wanted the same thing. When they brought out the pho it came with half the meat in the pho and half the meat on the side. When I told the person that is not what I wanted and that I wanted all my meat on the side he condescendingly assured me that the broth was hot and would cook quickly. I had to tell him at least one more time that the real problem was that that was not how I ordered my food. I tried to eat it like that but I really don't like the meat cooked so thoroughly. Especially in that scenario where that meat was 900% cooked and was almost crumbly in weak broth. Very little effort was made to correct that mistake even when the waiter came over, at the end of the meal, to apologize for getting the order wrong (and he did seem genuine with the exception of not fixing it) when he noticed that I had taken the cooked meat out of my soup. After they brought out our food they voluntarily brought out forks for us. I looked around and none of the tables with Asian patrons (we are caucasian) were given forks. That has not happened anywhere before. Even in the pho restaurant in Grand Junction - the only pho restaurant within 200 miles- they did not bring out forks. Overall, I didn't feel like we were treated very well and the food was not good enough to overcome that. This place would not have been in my top 3 or even top 5 anyways regardless of the experience. We will not be back.

Hell Yeah!!! I only eat the rare steak bowl, with lots of jalapenos and it is the bomb, there is something about their broth that has me wanting more. I have even had Pho to Go. This is definitely a thumbs up in my book. They have plenty of seating and service is quick, as a matter of fact they now know us there and even know what we want to eat as soon as we walk in. Hmmm is that a good thing or do we go there too much?

Pho 79 is my favorite pho in Denver! I try to eat here at least once a week. They're worth driving out of the way when you live downtown. Their broth isn't too sweet and isn't too bland. I usually start with the vegetarian spring rolls (I've had the regular ones & they're not as good). The homemade peanut dipping sauce that comes with the rolls is fantastic. I always get the #2. Rare Steak Pho. (Tip: order the steak on the outside and put it in after you dress your soup. This way the steak doesn't overcook and get chewy.) The soup is served alongside with Thai basil, sawgrass, jalapenos, & bean sprouts. Delicious and cheap! Thank you Pho 79!

  • Clint J.

My demented internet girlfriend LOVES this place. I must say that the Pho here is the best I've had in Denver. Order the SMALL bowl! The medium is bigger than most place's large. Broth is very good. Vegetarian pho is quite spicy. Filet mignon pho is rather flavorful. Very generous with HUGE pile of basil/sprouts/lime. She likes the strawberry boba which tastes like it is made with real frozen strawberries. Do NOT be adventurous with the other 50 flavors of smoothie, as they are from powdered mixes and taste like artificially flavored non-dairy creamer. If you order the coffee it will be in a little drippy thing over the condensed milk and will take FOREVER to empty into your cup . . . I NEED MY DAMN COFFEE NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is maddening. So, BEST pho in Denver, excellent service, clean establishment, but don't order weird fake smoothies or coffee that MAKES ME MAD!!!!!!! Pho is quite good. 4 well earned stars.

My favorite pho place in town. Service is fast, food is hot, great prices and portions are just right. The Bun Bo Hue and eggrolls are also very good. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. They are prompt at refilling water!

I've ate there a couple times on my visits to Denver and I'd have to say that it's not that great. I went there one time for a Pho Tai Nam which I usually get and they were out of tai beef. What?!?! thats almost the main beef ingredient to a bowl of pho! The service was bad just like most asian restaurants so that wasn't suprising either. Try Pho Duy if you want a good bowl of pho.

Pho 79, you make me happy. I love the feel of this place - from the kitschy decor, the little fountain in the lobby, the crazy bamboo on the windows, the antique rickshaw in the back...and did I mention the pho is delicious too? I hate to admit I've only sampled a few of the pho joints in town (gasp!) so I'm still a bit of a newb. This pho reminds me of the first kind I ever sampled, which is heavier on the anise flavor in the broth. Heaven. They have all the typical pho options - beef, chicken, tripe, tendon, meatball - and appetizers. We tried one of the fried spring roll appetizers, which are best wrapped in lettuce, topped with veggies, and dipped in the light sauce. They have these interesting lemonade drinks that come either sweet or salty, and topped off with soda water for an extra kick. I still have a ton of pho places to try out, but for now this one is definitely at the top of my list.

I've been eating at Pho 95 about twice per week ever since I moved back to Denver last summer. It was too crowded this morning though, so I decided to try Pho 79, since some yelpers seem to think it's better. At first, I wasn't sure it was even open, it was so not-busy compared to Pho 95... This difference in popularity appears to be no accident. I could tell things were not going to turn out well when I saw the pathetic, chintzy plate of produce that accompanied the bowl: 3 slices of jalapeno, 1 and 1/4 small lime chunks, and 3 small wilted sprigs of basil, no sawgrass (sprouts were ok, but I don't care about the sprouts). Overall, it was such a tiny fraction of the greens plate I have come to expect at 95 that I didn't even bother asking for more, as I figured I'd probably have to repeat the process 3 or 4 times before I was satisfied. Good thing too, because the waiter never came around to check on me after dropping off the bowl. Anyway, I just tried eating it as they served it. The pho broth itself was pretty bland, though the meat was fine. I eventually even put Sriracha in it, which I normally only put on crappy food, like frozen dinners or cafeteria-fare - I think it really doesn't fit with all the fresh goodness of good pho, as it tastes like what it is: highly processed catsup-like substance with crappy powdered garlic and pepper blended in. Overall, I'll refrain from giving it one star because I haven't been to enough pho places to declare it that bad.

Now first off, I am Vietnamese living in So Cal and 15mins away for Little Saigon and have eaten at the original Pho79 there. With that said, I was surprised at the flavor of here, I was expecting worst. This place was pretty good. The broth was pretty flavorful, ordered the rare beef on the side thus keep the meat from being over cooked. The noodles were not over cooked which is a good sign. Ice coffee was decent, and spring rolls were just OK. For this place to exist in Denver is a pretty good find. The service however is a completely different issue. Although everything was flavored well...it did have a high content of MSG...boo!!!

Pho 79 is my favorite Pho restaurant in Denver. (Okay, ONE of my favorites). I always get the pho tai. The service is always excellent and I can be a high maintenance customer. I always need fish sauce and extra extra limes. In addition my baby is prone to making messes in restaurants. However, the staff always takes care of me and my needs with a smile and quickly. For children, they bring a little side bowl so that they can eat some pho, too (separate is better if you like to spice yours up like I do). There are always plenty of garnishes for the pho and they will always bring more for free on request. There are numerous pho places closer to me but I always go to Pho 79 for great pho, great atmosphere, and great service.

YUMMO This is probably my favorite Pho place in CO. Although - I do feel like CA Phos are wayyy better, but this is probably as good as it gets in CO!!! My boyfriend loves the rice dishes because they give you LOTS OF MEAT. They don't go skimpy on the meats, that's for sure. The eggrolls are actually made out of spring roll wrappers instead of the egg flour wrappers, which makes them look kind of ugly, but either way, still tastes good nonetheless. I always get their specialty Pho bowel, with all of the meats, and their broth meets my expectations. The prices aren't that bad either, and I like how whenever I order food to-go, the owner always gives me a big cardboard box to place my food in. This Californian girl is happy! =D

We were on our way to Pho Duy, but stopped into this Pho shop cause it looked like it had some ambiance (inside). From the outside, it was a dank, badly lit dirty parking lot. Inside was a different story - I do wish they didn't have a television in the restaurant, it is very unnecessary & distracting. The food was o.k., but the waitress was a nice young girl and was not at all surly. They had generous portions of basil and bean sprouts for the Pho. Next time I think I'll try to find Pho Duy and see how it stacks up..

When you're in your 9th month of pregnancy and an off-standard batch fried chicken from "White Fence Farm" (see my review-- it's usually very good albeit from a slightly creepy-atmosphered place) has left you pukey and shuddery and weak from the vomit-fest of the night before, Pho 79 is your place. Noodles. Broth. Fresh basil. Take-out served in less than five minutes. What more do you want? Not pregnant? It works for hangovers too. ***EDITED: I'm docking it a star because we once found an ant cruising around in our bean sprouts. Yucko. I mean, yeah... they're natural, and bean sprouts are natural, and what's the big deal, right? Extra protein! But you know... I like to be in charge of the protein I ingest. So, um, yeah. Four stars is still pretty damn good.

Authentic Asian restaurants always make me a little nervous b/c more often than not they try to talk to me in their native language. Then there's always the awkard, embarassing "sorry, I only speak English and I'm not really Vietnamese anyways..." BUT, man do I miss this place!! I have started to become a bit of a Pho connosseiur since I travel a lot and no place does it like them. And who would've thought you'd find it in Denver? I always get the standard broth with beef and it has never disappointed. The best part is the fresh basil, mint and jalapenos that they serve on the side. Yummy. I also tried some type of spring rolls once. It was a little confusing b/c they give you all the ingredients separately. But once I figured it out (you dip the rice papers in the broth, then add your own ingredients) it was amazing. You have to go there. Also, every time I would feel a cold coming on, I'd stop in here and instantly be cured. Seriously.

My wife and I went there on a date after having a strong recommendation from a family member. We liked the food and atmosphere was interesting a lot of bamboo everywhere. I would make one suggestion to them next time I'm there. The lighting is not right. In the day I'm sure it's fine but they put in the compact fluorescent bulbs and they are very bright and in your face at night. Some soft lights would really be appreciated. Everything else was right on.

Friendly! Coming from San Jose, I pretty much know what good pho is and this place has it. I'm not sure about the other chain stores but this store particularly was friendly. Our waiter was a Vietnamese guy who basically thought we did not know what we were talking about. He was kind enough to tell us what everything was and such. It was funny when he found out we were Vietnamese! The broth is just right, not too sweet and not to BLAH. I like this place, the decor was awesome and it covered the bars on the windows perfectly! I notice that most stores on this block had bars but this place did it best by covering it up. Great food, great service, and great experience! P.S. 1 extra star for letting me sit on the xit lo dap! :)

I don't know why I strayed from my beloved Pho 95. Maybe it was due to the suggestions from fellow Yelpers. Or because I just wanted to make absolute sure that I had found my favorite pho place. Whatever the reason was, it turned out to be a huge disappointment. The one thing I do like about this place, is the atmosphere. I like the bubbling fountain in the foyer, and how they decorated the inside. However, my likes end there. The broth was bland, the basil/veggies were wilted and starting to brown, portions were small (eggrolls and pho), and service wasn't great. I won't be back. There's just way too many other pho places on Federal that are MUCH better. Definitely hit up Pho 95 instead.

We love this place. Even when we're just driving around and we pass by, we contemplate stopping in. The food's great, and it costs a lot less than most other dinner you could get at other restaurants. We have ALWAYS been treated well, and in a timely manner. One waiter in particular has remembered us when we have gone back. The first time we had him, our soup was placed a little too close to our curious baby who immediately put his hand into the hot broth. They were SOOO apologetic, brought us desserts for the baby, kept coming back to make sure he was ok (which he was, he wasn't even hurt, just startled). Since we've been back, we have been able to have small talk conversations with him about his own daughter. This place is run well and the food is tasty. Some other reviews which may not be so positive seem to have extraneous reasons for low marks, which are unusual, or unfortunate circumstances. Of the poor reviews I have read, I have never experienced such things at this restaurant.

So I was TRYING to go to Pho 95 and accidentally came here because the names are almost the same! I didn't realize this until I left and drove past Pho 95. Regardless, the food was bomb and they served us in about 5 minutes after ordering. Extremely fast, good prices and the nicer decor might make for a better date spot.

Eek! Methinks not! Weak broth, rude service (if you can call it that) and no pho-fulfillment.

I went to Pho 79 back when its pretty little bamboo decorations were a thing of the past. The carpet was littered with small refuse and service was dismissive at BEST. Now Pho 79's got the buzz and they have revamped the menu and the location. It's bigger. Maybe not better. But I still give them 5 stars. Why? Because I have sampled other Pho places. It's too salty, too bland, too greasy, or just not at the same PHO 79 level I expect. Pho 79 soup has become a carnal craving in the back of my mind at most times. And even though Pho 79 has raised the prices slightly and (is it my imagination) skimped a bit on the noodles/meat, I still forgive them. I'm sick. I need Pho. I'm sad. I need Pho. I feel fat. I need Pho. I'm pissed. I need Pho. Etc. Pho 79 is the best tasting Pho around town. That is my story. I am sticking to it.

Okay as far as pho noodle restaurants go, this place was clean, had comfortable seating, nice and efficient service, and had really good portions. Oh yeah, the pho was delicious. I went with my family who was visiting from out of town and we ended up staying at the restaurant for 2 hours talking. The servers were (to my surprise) very nice about it and didn't try to push us out.

I've tried lots of Pho restaurants from Cali, Boston, and even Texas. But I have to say this place really hits the spot. I'm not too sure why it's not getting better reviews but, I personally loveee their pho. Their staff isn't the best staff. I actually don't care cause I enjoy their pho too much. The beansprouts, basil leaves, and limes are always fresh. I also only get pho from here so I can't tell you about the other things on the menu. The only downside (on the Pho's behalf) is that they don't have the Dac Biet Combo bowl. ): They only have certain orders made with certain meat. But I never go wrong with a number #8 which kind of has everything except meatballs. You can always ask to add other meats but I think its a couple more dollars. Try this place. It definitely got me hooked!

If I could give zero stars, I would. We went here a month or so back and were treated to the worst service I have ever had. Ever. We, along with about 5 other tables, sat for about 20 minutes without even getting water before our orders were taken. Just as we were about to get up and and walk about, someone came over to take our order. Had the place been extra busy, I might have been able to understand but it was our 5 tables and maybe another 4 that had already been served. Our soups came, they were really quite bland, I had the lemon soda with egg along with it, that was decent enough although hard to mess up. Really this was one of the worst vietnamese food experiences I have had, and that is not even including the wait. To top it all off, the credit card machine was broken when we went to pay. No problem, they had a manual machine that they attempted to use. Except they could not figure out how to do it, so they manager(?) ended up writing my boyfriends credit card number down on the slip. A week or so later he was the victim of credit card fraud, his number was stolen (not the physical card, just the number) and a large amount of charges were racked up on his account. It would seem the restaurant did not properly destroy the slips they had written the numbers down on. Normally I will give a return visit before writing a one star review, this time I will not, sorry to say.

My comfort food! For a whole two months every single day I was in this restaurant no joke it was lame but oh so delicious. During a huge rain storm I got such a craving for this place we risked being stranded on the side of the road just for a medium bowl and spring rolls. Their spring rolls I could write a love story about. They are perfect with perfect peanut sauce. Way better than the rest trust me I've tried them everywhere. I use to belong to a pho club that's how bad I need this stuff! It cures everything I swear. Why waste money on nyquil when you can just have a wonderful bowl of beef in beef broth with noodles?!

  • Brian H.

Yum! Very fresh, and their broth is so good I added hardly any sriracha and hoisin. Great value too. Mine was a little short on tendon, but I must've distracted them by also requesting tripe. But where's the snout and trotters option!?? Lol

  • Misha R.

Seriously, they don't need another review, but you know how much I like to throw in my 2 cents. I really like this place. No, I'm no Pho expert. I really like Vietnamese food, and baby they got it good. Here's a nice sign, there were 8 other tables full of people there when we went for a late lunch, and all but one of them were Vietnamese patrons. Now that's good! Very Yummy stuff, for this vegetarian and my meat lovin' man. The decor is just plain weird and looks like an old disco tech. Strangely they have a couple of Catholic Jesus and Mary statue's (can you say weird?) Tacky and in poor taste but the food more than makes up for it.

this is one of those places that i would give a 5 star rating to every time i eat here. I am a bit of a Pho snob and I have eaten at most of the Pho places on federal and havana. Pho 79 is my favorite hands down. The food and the service are both second to none and I cant wait to go back for more.

I just had my first Pho experience! A friend suggested this place because she said the service was better than some others. I didn't think the service was anything great. It took about 20 minutes after our bowls were cleared to get our check. That was okay because we were busy visiting. I love the entire idea of Pho. Being able to make the soup taste how I like was the best part. I added basil, lime, hot sauce, jalapenos, and bean sprouts. It was so yummy! I was a little disappointed in the brisket. It had a lot of fat. I think it helped flavor the broth, but I didn't eat much of it. I love trying new things. I'm so happy that I had a great experience with Pho. I'm already looking forward to my next bowl.

I am NEVER disappointed by this place. Attentive service and delicious Pho. Bad Pho does exist in Denver, just not at 79. If you have never tried Pho and are turned off by the term, "raw meat" in your soup, it's really not raw. I always order a medium #2 and the steaming hot broth always cooks the thinly sliced meat all the way through. Throw in a couple slices of fresh jalapeno that they provide, along with some bean sprouts, sriracha sauce, and lime....voila! Deliciousness I'd seriously consider dying for. My mouth is watering right now, just thinking of it. I brought my friend here for lunch today and she commented, "A great introduction to Pho!" I'd say so! Super reasonable prices. Plus, I am a sucker for any place that gives me fresh jalapenos!

Best pho in Denver. Seriously. As a Vietnamese person (okay, half) I grew up on pho and Vietnamese food and consider it my comfort food of choice when I miss home. I was so glad when they moved to Westminister because I live in Boulder and it cut my pho commute in half! Delicious! It's also nice to be able to shop at the Pacific Ocean Market afterwords, maybe even check out the thrift store on the other side of the parking lot! PS - "Service sucks." Who fucking cares? You suck. The food is what you're going for. If you like a place with ambiance go somewhere else, this is actually authentic food - and now that I think about it, authentic service somewhat similar to Vietnam.

Just a great experience overall, amazing soup and not too Westernized, meaning they serve the traditional Pho meats as well as meats that would favor someone not used to traditional Vietnemese Pho. I've tried a bunch and this place is up there with the best, if not the best one around.

I love the pho here. I like HOA because it is closer to home and really clean. But the broth at 79 seems to have something in it that I just can't find at other places. The service here could be better too. I always ask for a plastic spoon/chopstick set for my kid and they never bring it. We always end up getting up and going to the front for one. So that bugs me. Oh yeah,I like the summer rolls here too.

This is the place for the best soup period across all genres. 5 years ago I was skeptical to eat something called "PHO" . Now I swear buy it. In fact my wife, two year old son, and myself drive one hour round trip once a week so we can get our fix. First of all the service is insanely fast. You get seated within 1 minute and then the waiter gets to you in another 3 minutes tops. This is a noodle soup restaurant and they just recently added appetizers like spring rolls. I have had the rolls and they are good. They also bring out the dish of greens to add to you soup really fast which I use to dip in my Shriracha hot sauce and some sort of sweet plum combo that I fill my sauce dish with. What to get. I usually get the #2 large with extra meat and extra noodle. I like to over eat. This is a rare steak bowl that is served almost boiling hot. THe steak cooks to a nice medium well. My wife gets the #6 which is well done brisket. She seems to be addicted even more so than I so I assume its fantastic. Need a pick me up? Order the coffee with ice and condensed milk. You wont be able to sit still for three hours I guarantee. Cost. Insanely cheap. This place battles inflation all day with their prices. This place isn't about atmosphere for sure. Its about kick ass food that cures hangovers, hunger, and colds alike. Some dipstick said atmosphere and lighting lacked. He struck me as the kind of prick that only cares about the see and be seen bs that trendiness provides. This is a fantastic find that was once a hole in the wall and is slowly remodeling into the new millenium. Cant beat it in terms of taste unless you spending 50 a person downtown or in wash park.

The phò was good. Could have used a little more meat in it.... but overall it wasn't bad. The not so good part was that we finished our food and waited.... and waited... and waited.... and waited (you get the picure)..... for the check and it never came. I almost walked out thinking it was free phó day!! Finally (20 minutes later) we asked a passing waiter for our check. So if you're not in a hurry to get anywhere, then this is the place for you!!

This is one of my favorite Pho place. Great entrance to the building, nice layout and good pho and bun. I've ordered many pho and bun from this place and so far I have not yet been disappointed. The service is okay, not great, but okay. They're almost stand off-ish and seem like they don't like to talk to people, but they served the food in timely manner. The broth is not as flavorful as Pho 95 and the menu does not have as much variety as Pho Hoa, but one thing that I found unique at this place is the dessert selections: the non-alcohol daiquiry. I ordered the durian daiquiry and it was great! Not too sweet, it's thick and it has enough durian flavor. So I'm putting Pho 79 in my good list of vietnamese restaurants.

This is the best type of hole in the wall. Service is quick, the Pho is great, the basil is fresh and plentyful and the avocado shakes can't be beat. Veggie lovers, you're out of luck here.

Funny how pho reviews cant be anything but whether its better or worse than your regular pho spot, and if its going to become your new pho spot. Mine is no different. Id eaten exclusively at my local joint (pho on 6th) for year or two. Then I realized how limited their menu was, and made the trek across town based on yelp reviews. But alot of people say the same thing about alot of places "as far as flavor goes, THIS is my favorite". But P79 had alot of reviews, so.... Despite numerous children running around the restaurant on a sunday, I managed to have a relaxing dining experience. I was surprised at how family oriented this place was, b/c PO6 patronage is 80% people on dates and the rest are singles or takeout. Here, the minivans just kept rolling in. the plate of produce was bigger than what Im used to. The broth at P06 is slightly better, especially the "central",which they dont have at P79. So the flavor relied more on the raw ingredients, which is fine....thats why I went, for variety. I had a large w/ rare meat, flank, and tendon. There was too much meat, but hey. I also liked the lemonade soda, which is fresh lemon juice, a bunch of sugar and ice in a glass, with a can of club soda for you to mix. The server never came back with the bill, but I guess thats how they do it there. I didnt need him to come back, but I didnt feel neglected, it seemed like they knew I didnt need anything, therefore why stop. I finished, and went to the counter, he rattled off my total in 0.5 seconds. The poor neighborhood location only lent authenticity to the experience, felt like I was in some vietnemese hood, not denver. teh Better than phonatic, but not better than p06. But worth the extra miles for the less-generic atmosphere and extra menu options.... No liquor license.

I've started coming here because there's so much more room and I just don't feel rushed. Pho 95, granted they have outstanding service, just turns their tables over too quickly and I feel obligated to rush.

This was the very first pho I ever had, and it was back in 1999. I remember walking in with a group, seeing the tables and expecting to be on some crazy, wild ride. We sat down, ordered and I let it all unfurl. The soup was great. An instant cure-all, I could tell immediately. The plates with the sprouts confused me at first but I bided my time. I added some sprouts and jalapenos and was on my way. this place is pretty much a pho place. If you want anything else, too bad. As far as brother goes, it is real good. However, there are places to get pho with lots on the menu. If you want a somewhat isolated place JUST to get pho, this place is worth it. If you want a different, more attended establishment then go up the block. *NOTE* For just pho, this place gets 4 stars. As a restuarant, I have to give it 3 stars. Service can be a bit shoddy and forgetful.

Pho-ntastic!!! Pho 79 rocks! If you say Tai-Bo-Vein (sp?), you can get steak AND meatballs! I love Pho. I've walked into this restaurant on the verge of puking after a heavy night of drinking. I'm cured by the time I walk out. This soup immediately alleviates any nausea. There's a little bit of magic in a great bowl of Pho. They serve your soup with table plate of fresh basil, bean sprouts, dandelion greens, jalepenos and limes. It's up to you to figure out your perfect combination. There's also a smaller plate to create some mixture of Siracha and Plum Sauce for dipping the meat of your soup. I would also recommend the Vietnamese Coffee. It's very tasty!

They have great Pho and I have never been disappointed with a meal. Just went here last night and it was delicious and cheap. I always order the medium and can never finish it. My only complaint is they don't serve any alcohol. Not even beer or wine. A cold beer goes great with a steaming bowl of Pho and last night I wish I could have ordered one.

I have been to this place on a few occasions. Each time I have been less and less impressed as well as less than pleased with their service. Today I happened to be driving by, and since I have had a craving for Pho, I told my friend to pull in, and we could both fulfill our Pho craving. After we were seated, I noticed the place was a bit dirtier than the last time I remembered. After our order was taken, we waited, and waited. I have visited several different Pho places over the years, and have always been impressed with the way that the order is usually brought out rather quickly. (still waiting) As I sat there looking around, I notice that there are cobwebs all over the walls, pictures, and decorations. It wouldn't hurt to actually dust and clean the place from time to time. (still waiting) while we are waiting several other patrons came in, including a group of 6, that was seated by us. By this time, we had been waiting a little over 25 mins for our food. Less than 5 mins after the group of 6 ordered, they ALL had their food... At this point we are, as you may have guessed, still waiting. There were only two of us, and the order was simple. After seeing the other patrons who came in after us, and ordered after us, get their food before us, I was a little steamed. I went to the counter to ask what the deal was. I let him know that at that point we had been there for 40 min, and still no food. He shrugged his shoulders, mumbled something and went to the back. At that point I had reached my patience limit and walked back to our table and decided to go. As we were walking to the front, the man I had spoken to met us and I told him we would just pay for the drinks, as we were done waiting. His reply was no charge, and that was it. No, I'm sorry for the wait, the inconvienence, no nothing. As we were seated in the middle of a several groups of people who all came after us and who all received their orders, I find it a little difficult to believe that our order was forgotten. This is one place that will never receive any of my business again.

So my husband and I are both feeling really crappy with head colds. Needless to say I didn't feel like cooking dinner so we sat around for like 2 hours trying to figure out what to have for dinner. Then it hit me! Pho....beefy broth, lots of basil, lime, jalapeno, and bean sprouts with just the right amount of spice is just the thing. A quick phone call and less than 30 minutes later we were diving into two HUGE bowls of #9. By the end of Lord of the Rings (the extended version) we were both feeling a lot better. I can't say for certain that the huge bowl of soup started us on our road to recovery but I'm seriously thinking about ordering it again tonight just in case.

I was craving Pho the other night so I decided to drive along federal blvd (aka pho land) and chose this spot based on the outside ambiance. Big Mistake... although the bamboo shoots were cool looking the rest of the experience was not so cool. The waiters didn't acknowledge our presence for 15 min and the resturaunt was practically empty and when they did grant us with teir presence they seemed like they were being put out and barely spoke. The menu was very basic and user friendly but the food was disgusting. By far the most flavorless Pho I have ever had and believe me no amount of schrizachi, plum sauce, jalapeno, basil and shoots could save this disastrously weak soup. We also tried the summer rolls which were weird and the peanut sauce tasted the chopped up candy which was not a good combo. In trying to appeal to American taste they lost the most important aspect of a restaurant the taste of their food.

This isn't spectacular, but it will fill a Pho craving. When I rolled in around 7:00pm which I consider to be prime dinner time, there were maybe 7 other people in the restaurant which doesn't bode well. Doesn't seem very popular. Its mediocore. At least its cheap. I don't think theres anything on the menu that costs more than $8.

I would highly recommend the pho, but nothing else. Good thing that that is what this place mostly sells. If your not familiar with the area, know that it's not on the best end of town, as the jail bars, ahem, bamboo forest along the windows might hint at. I mostly like to visit for lunch. The have parking, shared with the other business. Know that the left turn in and out onto Federal is a little difficile!

The best Pho in Denver. This is the magic soup that makes hangovers go away and all seem well in the world. Medium 6 is my favorite way to go, but you can slice and dice to suit your desires. I agree that the service can be a little lacking, but the servers always have a smile on their face and that makes up for the odd forgotten spoon. For anyone who is new to Viet cuisine...STAY AWAY FROM THE DURIAN!!! Enjoy.

As a Vietnamese-American.. I would not recommend this place.. the only times you see me here is w/ a bunch of acquaintances that thinks this place is better when it is truely not.. The broth is sub par compared to Pho Duy and the noodles don't stack up.. Sure if it's your 1st time for pho you're going to enjoy it.. just remember.. it won't be the best..

they get deductions for not having veg pho and making me wait 20 minutes for takeout today - they weren't even busy! that said, their veg spring (summer) rolls are decent, and their one veg thing on the menu (vermicelli bowl) is good. the peanut sauce is delicious, that alone is responsible for one star. grrrrrrrrr

    (2)
  • Scott P.

I enjoyed the pho. But the wrapping on the spring rolls was pretty dry. Can't fault their pho, but I'm hella picky about my guoi con. All the herbs were nice and fresh, but there wasn't any culantro, and over the years I've come to appreciate it's presence. I'll have to come back here and try it again, maybe I'll revise my rating after that. But honestly, there are so many places on Federal for pho that something usually has to stand out for me to return. Nothing here really stood out except for the pretty waterfall. But that doesn't mean I won't be back.

I'm down with 79 as well. It's awesome! You just can't beat the price, quick friendly service and the Pho is uber super. I get a medium and it's HUGE... but leftovers are yummo!

Pho 79 is the BEST Pho in town, hands down. They have just completed renovated their federal and Westminster locations (The the service is AWFUL in Westminster) and it actually looks like a nice restaurant now, which matches their beautiful Pho. I order the Pho Bo Vien every time I go and it's delicious. They offer 3 sizes which is nice, and their bobas are delicious.

egg rolls egg rolls egg rolls. if they were cheaper i'd get 20 everytime. pho bowl, with sriracha - you cannot go wrong. their other plates with shrimp, beef have distinctive flavor that you cant get at Chili's etc. Bobas are the perfect desert. Coconut ... mmmm.

I actually patronize the Pho 79 on South Havana in Aurora but have been to this location as well. Each are under the same management. I really appreciate the quality/quantity ratio of the food served for the dollar spent - you can't go wrong. I get the #16 medium [chicken] and it's $5.25. The broth and noodles are always excellent and the vegetables taste like they just came in from the field. Pho 79 does not scrimp on ingredients and I've always found the service to be efficient, even during the peak lunchtime hours. It's also a fascinating cross-cultural experience - you'll find a wide range of people from all of Asia - along with some Russians and Ethiopians, too. Great place!

YUM YUM! Large #5 is what I get. You can ask to have your meat on the side that way you can eat it the way you like it. So good and so good for you! I just wish they had one closer to downtown. Perfect place to go on a cold night!
