Do you like salads? This is your place. They have sandwiches but salads are their thing. It is like subway for salads. You pick your size salad. You pick the greens and then you can have any of their thirty or so items in your salad. I got romaine lettuce with pumpkin seeds, onion , celery, tomato and kalamata olives. Then you pick from about 20 dressings and the amount of dressing you want. They hand toss it. Very fresh and very good. They have Maine root drinks on tap. Recommended.

Yum! I had the Don Quixote salad which consisted of Baby Greens, Hass Avocado, Jack Cheese, Mango, Roasted Corn and I also added the Southwestern Grilled Chicken (always need a little bit of meat in my salads). They recommend the creamy ginger dressing to the Don Quixote salad but I chose to add a light balsamic vinaigrette. The small chopped mangos also gave my salad a special kick to it. My body felt completely cleansed and so healthy after I devoured my salad. I wish Seattle had a place like MAD Greens. I'll definitely be going back to this place on my next trip to Denver.

Good salads if on the pricey end.

I love salad and I love this place! If you decide to create your own salad they have several toppings. The only downside is that they charge extra for every ingredient especially anything with protein. I think I got a small salad with 5-7 toppings and it cost just under $10. Which I consider pricey for a small salad. However, on a good note it did fill me up.

Umm... yeah. Service at this place was a joke. The girl at the ordering station didn't know the ingredients to any of the menu items and was asking customers to read them off. Then a line of about 6 people piled up before the next employee could take our bowls and finish our meals. Everyone was served out of order. When I paid, my wrap was sitting right there by the register but no one knew it was mine so they didn't hand it to me until five minutes later. There were about 10 dirty bowls piled up by the trash. Guess they don't have time to bus them. And my meal definitely wasn't worth $10.25. It was just a bunch of romaine and a small amount of chicken salad. I won't be coming back.

Great food! Great service! Very knowledgeable staff - very serious about my food restrictions. Will definitely return whenever I'm in this area again.

Eat better and healthier without losing all the great flavors! I sampled their salad and 3 different kinds of hummus at an event. I really loved the beet, garlic and avocado hummus! They were really smooth, creamy and delicious! As a healthy foodie and vegetarian, it's comforting to know that there're restaurants that cater to vegetarians and are very budget friendly at the same time! It's definitely a welcoming addition to a growing list of healthy eateries in Denver! I can't wait to eat at their cafe for a full meal in the near future!

I won't be back. We went about 45 mins before closing and they were already cleaning the floor with all the chairs on the tables, removing any possibility of sitting down for a meal. The greens were soggy and the staff were rushing us. There is not reason to go here when you can go to Choppers for the same prices, better atmosphere and to have the salad chopped instead of trying to gracefully shovel down a 6 inch piece of romaine.

After all of the bad reviews I've read about the other salad bars downtown I am comfortable saying that Mad Greens is thee best. I've probably only tried about 2 of their signature salads but, that's because my usual, the Don Quixote, is amazing! I love the ginger dressing! I also love the regular or spicy avocado option. Great place and worth the 8-10 bucks you're about to spend on a salad.

I stumbled on to this little gem by pure accident and on a mission to eat healthy. Their salads were in the $10 range by the time I was done but I feel it was so worth it! You walk in and see the display of fresh, yummy ingredients! I was overwhelmed by the menu because there are too many delicious choices. I ended up getting a salad that starts with an "O" and added grilled chicken, avocado, and a yummy cucumber yogurt dressing. This salad was tossed in front of me and placed in a HUGE bowl! BY FAR THE BEST SALAD I'VE HAD IN A WHILE!!! It was just delicious! I ate every last piece of it. I wish I could go here every day for lunch! I would not deter from a daily salad! Love this place! Def must try!!

The chipotle of the salad world! I love the pre-designed options best! (it's also cheeper than putting all those great looking topping on and paying a fortune!) You start with the base, then you add you toppings according to your order! At the end you choose your dressing, definitely get it on the side unless you like alot - you can ask for light, but it doesn't' always work. The line move pretty fast, even at high noon. it's definitely an option downtown, but there are other places i enjoy for a salad more! The staff is pretty friendly, they change their gloves between orders - which is nice!

Needed a quick meal before a tour at the Byers Evans House. Moved though the line quickly and had a delicious da Vinci salad. Easy, convenient, reasonably priced. Wish I had tried the sodas. On a weekday, avoid going right at 12 or 1, when you'll see the lunch hour crowds roll in.

On 16th Street there are so many places to try out. MAD Greens advertises itself as a healthy eats location that is both vegan and vegetarian friendly. I am neither vegan nor vegetarian and I really liked the place. Food (4 Stars): I had the Marilyn Monroe Panini, which was delicious and consisted of pesto sauce that went really well with the ham. Keep in mind that their paninis are not too big, so two halves is perfect for a full lunch. Everything tasted fresh and it was toasted to order which made me even happier! Italian Wedding Soup with Meatballs: This soup was SO YUMMY. It had a nice broth with 4 meatballs and small balls of pasta that made the soup really fun to eat. It wasn't overly salty and went well with the sandwich. I would definitely order this again the next time I am at Mad Greens. Just So You Know: It gets pretty crowded during lunchtime, so make sure you are ready for the line. There is no outside seating but there is a cafeteria-like corridor next door where you can have your lunch. Businessmen and local office workers frequent this place. It is the Subway of salads.

  • Maria B.

Great salad place - ingredients are fresh an of good quality; the service is quick and friendly! I have had the Don Quixote and the Mad Cuban - both fantastic. Thoroughly enjoyed them. Also, if you work downtown this option will not leave you feeling ripped off.

I go to this location probably once a week. It is better to go either at 11 or after 1 because it gets crazy busy, but then again most places on 16th do. The last time I went, the lady who helped me let me use an expired coupon (BOGO), gave me extra avocado for free, and my "regular" sized salad was so big she had to put it in a "large" to-go bowl. She was very friendly too and seemed like she enjoyed working there- which is why I felt motivated to write this review. Thanks!

Friendly staff. The food was quick and my wrap tasted fresh. There was a shortage in seating. I loved the soda selection. Local sodas, fair trade sourced.

I love this place for lunch! Everything I have tried here has been fresh and delicious. Great salads, paninis and specialty sodas. Staff is so courteous and the manager always has a great big smile.

Love this place! I usually eat here at least once a week. I'm a vegetarian and their new tofu combined with the Don Quixote subbing onions for mangos and using roasted pepper dressing is amazing! Fast and friendly service every time, highly recommended!

I enjoy eating here when I have the urge to eat a salad. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They always provide me with recommendations and suggestions. However, I feel uncomfortable asking for more of a specific topping because I don't want to be charge more. I think it should be allowed to ask for more - even subway doesn't charge extra for more toppings. Any way, it's a pretty cool place to eat. I enjoy their fresh foods and health choice/options if you want to create a salad or add a few/take a few from a menu item. The prices for the salads are high but the other menu items are reasonable. It concerns me when I can eat a large salad and still remain hungry when salads of this portion usual filled me up. I'll continue to go here because I love the vibe, customlyer service and food but I can live without this place versus others.

  • Chris T.

The food is great (the Crazy Ivan is my favorite salad - who would have thought beets could be that good? The Annie Oakley is a pretty good sandwich too). Substitutions are easy enough if you don't like an ingredient. Staff is friendly and quick too. Even when it's busy the line keeps moving. (I think they recently started offering delivery to the 16th St Mall/CBD area, but I haven't tried that yet. Would be handy for when I'm chained to my desk)

  • Leah A.

I only recently started going to Mad Greens, and I love it! I always prefer to build my own salad, which is fun--but it can get pricey fast, with each ingredient costing either $.60 or $1.00. But if you keep that in mind, it's still easy to make a delicious salad with just 4 or 5 ingredients. Their horseradish ranch dressing is SOOOO good!!! And the roasted corn is quite tasty too; it's something I wouldn't have thought I would like in a salad but once I tried it I always have to have it. I usually add 4 ingredients: 3 veggies, 1 cheese, and my total is under $6.50 for a pretty big salad. I like this place!

    (4)
  • Aubrey H.

The only salad option close by - the toppings look like they've been sitting out too long, the soup has no flavor and the pita tastes old. Way over priced!!

  • Michael F.

I like their Philosophy, which is true. Everything is better when a person eats better. I love that everything here is healthy and delicious. I had the Mad Molly Brown Salad and the Hamlet Panini both were very sustaining. The Mad Molly had Spinach, Green Onions, Mozzarella, Tomatoes, & Grilled Sweet Onions, and at only 200 calories. How could anyone resist? However, the Veggie Hamlet has more calories, but it had Portobello Mushrooms, Artichokes, Red Onions, Jack Cheese, & Roasted Red Pepper Dipping Sauce. Still very delish and nutrish.

Of all of the Mad Greens locations around Denver, this is the probably the most central site being downtown on the 16th St. Mall. Which also makes for a good place to visit if you're looking for a light meal while in the area. Anyways, my wife and I like to go this restaurant chain to share a meal: typically buy a large salad and whole Panini sandwich, then split both. It's more economical that way, otherwise it could be pricy if you desire a large portion-sized meal. They've got a really good variety of ingredients and they make it in front of you so you can personalize any 'dish'. All in all, I like the fresh ingredients and I am almost positive they are sourced from decent places as well...or that last part may be a pipe-dream. ;o)

I went to MAD Greens looking for a nice lunch, and found it a bit lacking. I spent about $10 for a salad and left hungry. I event went as far as to add garbanzo beans and a handful of other protein extras. I ended up going to get lunch after lunch. Not quite as fulfilling as I expected.

I tried Mad Greens a few weeks ago for the first time. I ended up going two days in a row, not necessarily because it was awesome, but because I had a coworker in town helping me with a project and she is on a raw, vegan diet. She actually preferred Mad Greens to Green Fine Salad which I thought was interesting. A few things to note: - Their spinach leaves are huge, and they don't pre-chop/mix their salads. I made quite a mess of my face, ha! - I was immediately asked, upon adding salmon to my salad, if I knew how their pricing structure works. At least they try to warn you...but these salads are spendy. Mine ran over $9 for a large with salmon but very few other add-ins/toppers. In retrospect, the smaller size with a protein added is probably just about right. - The shallot tarragon vinaigrette is awesome and was my favorite part of my salad. - There weren't nearly as many pre-made salad options as I thought there'd be, but there were more options of other veggies and non-toasted nuts which my raw vegan appreciated. - The long line moved very fast, so I won't get turned off from that in the future. But be warned, this place is packed anywhere close to the noon hour. - Their bowls are not compostable, which is something I love about Green Fine Salad.

Its the Subway of salads, I get a shit ton of lettuce and barely any toppings. The beets were cut so small you couldnt even taste them. The vegan soup tasted like it was from a can. I wouldnt reccomend it

  • Terry L.

Terry writing a salad review?? Not to worry- this one is all about a sandwich! "A sandwich that can make a guy who loves unhealthy food actually enjoy eating at a boutique salad joint?" you ask?? Damn right. They have this Panini called "Annie Oakley" which has Turkey, Avacado, Bacon & Swiss Cheese Yep semi-healthy but looking at the menu -- almost 1,000 Kcals !! Oh Yeah!!! Now that's big food for a salad place.

    (3)
  • Amber M.

Nom, nom! Great lunch spot in downtown Denver. I had the panini with turkey, avocado, bacon, with ranch on the side. The ranch was a bit much, but the sandwich was amazing! Great value for the money and the salads looked great too!

  • Nicole S.

The price is right (under $6 for a salad when I've paid up to $10 at other restaurants) and the portions are fairly large, but the service is completely unprofessional. I walked in and waited at the counter a full two minutes before the girl behind the counter acknowledged me. She called another guy over to make my salad, which took much longer than it needed to because he kept running back to the kitchen to grab standard ingredients that should have already been stocked at the salad bar. He also messed up my change at the register, kept giggling and apologizing, and generally just couldn't keep his composure. The salad itself was just alright. I ordered the Da Vinci (baby greens, red onions, roasted red peppers, artichoke hearts, and garbanzo beans since they were out of the cannellini beans) with the balsamic vinaigrette. My ingredients happened to be fresh (probably since he had just grabbed them from the kitchen), but I noticed that some of the other items at the counter looked old and brown. Overall, my salad lacked flavor. I probably should have splurged on bleu cheese crumbles, but it was $1 extra for each additional ingredient. I wouldn't eat here again unless I had no other choice.

Great, delicious salads & paninis, not cheap though. Had the Dionysus salad and a turkey, avocado, pepper panini. Really good, nice atmosphere on the 16th street mall.

I eat a Mad Greens build-your-own salad at least three times a week for lunch and I love it every time. The ingredients are fresh and always consistent. The salad dressings are homemade and addictive! I have yet to find anything that comes close to my love of the shallot tarragon!

  • Charles C.

Made to order salad and panini place a la Pax in nyc. Not bad. Not great. Just don't order the tofu as the protein. It was cold, salty, and rock hard. Centrally located within the 16th St Mall.

At the DAM, this is a great place to eat, take a break from art, sculpture. Fresh greens, array of add ons!

  • Cynthia B.

This is a great spot for a quick lunch when you're downtown. It's like "Chop't" for those of you from the east coast, but with a CO flare. I really like the Molly Brown, but make sure they don't overload you with the onions. The Ty Cobb is is my favorite, though, because it has enough protein (egg and bacon), where I don't feel like I need to add extra (and pay the $$ for it). My only gripe with this place is the cost...over $10 for a salad when you add chicken or another protein. But, I've always had fast consistent service and this will stay on my lunch rotation.

I love this place! I wish we had one in Virginia. A variety of fresh salads that are made right in front of you quickly. A bit expensive for salad, but nice portions and good ingredients.

good kids meals and they give you full size minute maid juice not those little juice boxes. the kids fruit cups also have real mango.

When I visit Denver I go to Mad Greens because it's an easy place to find healthy vegetarian food. Or so I thought. I just ordered a build your own salad of spinach, red onion, carrots, sunflower seeds, cucumber, edamame, and avocado, tossed with a little roasted red pepper dressing. Disgusting. The onions must have been prepped last week, the avocado was a mush ball, and even the carrots tasted like yesterday. $10.50. And I knew when I saw the browned garbanzo beans and the lackluster romaine to head out the door. I was a sucker with hope. Not again.

  • Joe M.

Unfortunately the prices have been raised and the food didn't taste very fresh. The broccoli was brown on the edges

  • Kristen N.

When I'm in need of a quick veggie lunch, Mad Greens is where I head. It's pretty affordable (especially without a protein added) and the salad offerings are fun and a lot more interesting than iceberg with tomatoes and cucs... There are a bunch of pre-determined salad that are usually a pretty good bet. If you chose to make your own mix--be forewarned, it can get pricey quick. With TONS of dressing options, it's easy to make your salad just right. The mixers at this location are always pretty friendly and it's not too loud or crowded, so that I can sometimes grab a spot to read while enjoying my salad.

  • Talia H.

Hands down, best salad in Denver. This place is amazing and my go to stop for fresh food after a long (and nutritionally poor) work week. I have been so often, that I know what I like and order it every time... Regular with romaine, with beets, cucumbers, and tuna. Topped with feta and Sherry Molasses vinaigrette. Start with the light pour and keep adding. That's a good note... everyone pours differently so start light and then have them add as needed. But your first time, if you are like me, you should pick off the board. I always add all the things I love and it tastes AWFUL! Like mango and tuna and cucumbers and beans and and and... yeah, if you suck at that, like me, taste the board then make your own. I love that they have beets. Beets are my favorite on a salad. The food is always fresh and delicious. I highly recommend MAD greens to locals and visitors alike. I love the fact that I live down the street and can grab a Mad Greens salad and a Jamba Juice smoothy after work. One downside... I do think some of the portions are a bit weeny and the price is a little high. My salad, as described above, usually comes to $7ish. It's a quarter cup of beets and I would love more and more cucumbers... less lettuce would be fine with me. Still the best lunch or dinner ever...

Being downtown now for work, I have a wealth of salad places to choose from during the lunch hour. While this MAD Greens location isn't the closest to my office, it still draws me over many because I like some of their classic salads (I am not a build your own kinda girl). This one off the mall is not exactly a quick lunch (well it depends when you hit it), but the line usually moves and in the end you get something tasty and healthy. I do think the prices are too high. However, I don't know why! Every other salad place has the same prices and I pay it! I guess I just hate spending $9 on greens! However, if you are going to spend it do it at MAD where the ingredients are fresh & there are lots of salads to choose from. Some of my fave salads are the General Custer (like eating hot wings - only the salad version), the Mad BLT (horseradish ranch is the best part) and the Ty Cobb is always a winner. Its a good spot for a healthy lunch!

My friend was in the mood for salad but I wanted sandwiches, so I ordered my husband and I two of their paninis. The Reuben was laughable - it was basically just cabbage between two pieces of bread. I actually took a picture of it. The service was horrible, the girl making our sandwiches was yelling at the guy behind the counter. These sandwiches were small, gross, and cost about $10 each, and the kicker is that Mad Greens mysteriously charged me twice - for the sandwiches, and an extra $3.50 for...bad service?

  • Colleen M.

The last time I visited, I ended up with tortilla soup instead of the Colorado Green Chile. I decided to try again today, but was (again) disappointed. I ordered a Molly Brown (simple enough) and when the guy threw in pears, I knew we had a problem. He stared into the bowl for a few seconds, looked at me and said, "I added pears." i said, "Yes. You did." ....at that point he proceeded to PICK THE PEARS out of my salad and throw them on the floor. No apology. He didn't ask if I had an issue with the pears he DID leave in the salad (with all the pear juice). When he packed up the salad in the to-go container, there was ingredients sticking out the sides that he just squished with the lid. Almost $9 for the least attractive mistake I've eaten yet. Darn. That's twice I've left unhappy. I wish there were more healthy salad-type places on the 16th street mall. I guess, for now, I'm back to Subway.

    (2)
  • Holly E.

Should have stuck with a salad. Marilyn Monroe panini definitely the most uninteresting panini I've ever had though not sure what I was expecting. Not worth the $10 lunch. Jimmy John's would have been better and that is not saying much.

A fast food salad place! It's like subway, but better because it tastes better, AND is good for you! Cheap, fast, healthy food for on the go. Love it.

  • Jennifer B.

Frequent this place every once and a while for lunch since it's right down the 16th Street Mall. Always on the lookout for great lunch spots and this one is no exception. I recommend ordering from the already created salad options so you don't mix and match bad flavors. If your like everyone else that comes here you may like beets, olives, tuna and honey mustard and it just doesn't together. Take my advice and order off the menu first before trying to create your own. Sublime variety of toppings with oodles of unique dressings to choose from. If your not famished enough to eat a Thanksgiving dinner I suggest the regular size, NOT the large. Trust me the regular will be plenty. I knocked off one star for the high prices. Like everyone else that reviews we pay the prices but it seems ridiculous to pay $10 or $11 for lettuce and some ingredients. We should work on this for the future and figure out how to knock down the price a few bucks. :)

Do yourself a favor and go to Green Fine Salad instead, unless you want a sandwich. Anyways, it's just ok. It's comparable to a Panera in my book.

  • Amy O.

Not as good as some other salad places around town, but to that degree it's also a bit cheaper. My salad was tasty, though! I definitely appreciated having the option of adding all my own toppings! Oh and the employees were very friendly :)

I'm here on business and this place is really good! I am staying by the convention center and wanted something within walking distance and I could take it back to my room. This hit the spot! I got the Don Quixote, which was awesome... Big ol' pieces of avocado. Very filling too. Yum!

Just as an FYI -- I had to do my meal expenses after I returned from the work trip in Denver...and saw that MAD Greens double charged me for the salad I thought was just $7. So that's sad.

  • Laurie W.

I'm eating a Mad Greens salad as I type this. It's probably my third try for Mad Greens, and I'm still not impressed. Don't get me wrong, the salad is fresh, there are quite a number of toss ins, and plenty of dressings to choose from. It's just that compared to the other salad places on the mall, Mad Greens falls flat. I made my own salad with my usual choices. It came out about $0.50 more expensive than my regular salad joint and I got the smaller size. The dressing, which looked plentiful at the store is rather tastless (low cal ranch). And they don't chop your salad, so the pieces of lettuce are huge. All in all, I'll stick with my other salad options.

    (2)
  • Andreas H.

I felt like the Greek salad was a bit overpriced for what I got, but the service was friendly enough and I left satisfied with the meal. The people working there really know how to handle the lunch rush, so don't worry if you see a long line, they'll move you right through it before you even realize what happened.

Dying to find a good place for a vegetarian tourist to eat on the 16th st mall on a Sunday early-evening (harder than you might think) I stumbled into Mad Greens. Veggie Hamlet - awesome! The guy who rang me up and got my sandwich together was also really great, friendly and helpful with questions. Definite score.

Good for a quickie and healthy lunch when you have forgotten yours or can't deal with whatever Lean Cuisine lurks in the work freezer. Sign up for their coupons online because they send out some good BoGo ones every now and again. OH and PLEASE keep the special "Holiday" salad with the cherry vanilla almonds on the menu - it's awesome!

I always forget to go to MAD Greens, but every time I actually remember, I love it! The concept is great, you can make your own salad, as healthy as you want it with fresh ingredients and friendly service. I have recently tried their soups, the tomato one is great! I give them 3 stars because sometimes things aren't consistent, nothing truly dreadful, but things could have been better during some visits. Overall though a tasty place to go to grab a bite. I like to come here and study while munching on a tasty salad.

The Molly Brown was Denver's saving grace...I had it with steak & it was DEEEEEEEEEEEEELISHIS!!! Large portions & definitely better bang for the buck than the salad spots here in Cali - please bring your franchise West!!!

  • Robin P.

What a rip-off. A small salad (without meat) cost me $5 and some change. They have some interesting combinations with even more interesting names, but that's about all they have going for them. I ordered the Don Quixote: mixed greens with jack cheese, mangos, roasted corn, creamy giner dressing, and what was supposed to be avocado. The guy who made my salad FORGOT MY AVOCADO!!!! It was the main reason that I ordered the salad in the first place. They ask if you want light, medium, or heavy dressing. I asked for light, but he DROWNED my salad in dressing. Yuck. I hate that. What's the point of a healthy salad if it is drenched in calorie-laden dressing? As I write this, my stomach is starting to hurt. Never again, Mad Greens, never again.

The Molly Brown salad with chicken was FANTASTIC, large portioned, and fresh. Will be back.

Some might call it fast food salad, but I still love it. I'm crazy about the Mad Molly Brown (Spinach, Green Onions, Mozzarella, Tomatoes, & Grilled Sweet Onions), but the other salads I've had have also been delicious. I haven't tried the soup but it looks great. You can choose from a number of salads, toppings, and styles, as well as the salad size and dressing amount. My personal favorite is the Mad Greens at the Art Museum, which has a wine and coffee bar attached. I wish Mad Greens was as abundant as McDonalds or Burger King, because I would be there all the time.

First, I was won over by the cute, friendly staff. I don't know his name, but he educated me on the best veggie items on the menu. I was pleasantly pleased with the Veggie friendly protein options. I loved the veggie soup and my Da Vinci salad. This place is also huge, clean, and in a great location in downtown Denver. if you are stuck at the convention center it is about an 6 minute walk to get far better food.GO to MAD Greens! You won't be disappointed. Also...please open some locations in Chicago, we need places that like Veggies and develop menus for our needs.

Very good salads! Friendly staff. Other portions, like kids' mac-n-cheese are a bit small. Really yummy fruit juices, too. Nice high-top counter up front for people-watching as you eat. If you're downtown and craving some good veggies, I definitely recommend Mad Greens.

Fairly good option for those looking to eat "healthy" near the Denver Art Museum. The location is great, staff friendly and menu had a good selection of choices.

Tables and floor were dirty with not a single effort to clean anything during our 45 minutes there. They were out of forks and it took 10 minutes to solve that. The food was mediocre at best. My wife commented that it wasn't that good. The BLT salad had something that tasted burned.

First time ever eating here, so awesome! Great lunch!!!

Whooooa! This place is delicious, but as others have cautioned - watch yourself, because all those toppings can add up to one heck of an expensive plate of green. I thought I was being a smarty pants by ordering a salad off the menu, rather than building my own, and I still ended up with an $11 bowl. Wha wha whaaaa? That said, it was totally delicious. Really, really fresh. And hard proof that I can walk into even a salad joint, and manage to order something unhealthy (the Mad BLT with horseradish ranch and chicken). Tasty though.

What I really appreciate about MAD Greens is that they give you options and make sure your salad is how you want it: I was asked if the dressing was enough after they asked "light, medium, or heavy", and if I would like to add anything when I requested to leave an ingredient out. I had the Dionysos, which was delicious. I also saw the Don Quixote, which also looked good. Why have I waited so long to try MAD Greens?!?! Somehow I've missed this place even though I've known about it for over a year... Now that I've been, I'll certainly be back!

Okay but not great - I did a half salad half sandwich. The Cobb Salad had way too much avocado and way too much dressing, I didn't end up eating much of it. The sandwich was different but only okay... Green Fine Salad Co. is close by and a much better option.

They have a nice selection of salads here. I ordered the Edgar Allan Poe which is baby greens, apples, pears, blue cheese crumbles, and walnuts with port vinaigrette. The pricing is decent and they serve the salad to you right in the mixing bowl. A large, silver mixing bowl. I appreciate that they are not wasting paper plates like many fast food places would, but then, why the plastic silverware? They had no real silverware, even if you were eating in. Only plastic. The salad was alright. I liked the combination of flavors but wished the ingredients were a bit more fresh. When asked how I would like my salad dressed (light, medium, or heavy) I replied medium, but it was actually very heavily dressed. Heavy dressing maybe means the salad is floating in a bowl of dressing?

I've tried, Mad Greens. But I just can't continue to spend $10+ on a salad when the container has an inch of room between lettuce and lid. I've complained to the management (via the website), who was extraordinarily responsive and accommodating (with a gift certificate) but nothing has changed. Lower the price or give more food and I'll come back.

I can't believe that I am the first person to be writing this on here, but THERE ARE MICE IN THIS RESTAURANT. I was eating here last night with a group of friends and during our brief 15 minutes in the restaurant we saw two mice run through the dining room, one really close to our feet. After telling the manager about it, he neither apologized or tried to compensate us in any way. He said it's downtown Denver and that's what we should expect. We got 6 to go boxes and took our food home, though you can imagine it was no longer very appetizing. Again, I really advise against going here, it can't be sanitary.

Great salad place, and they DO have meat. Chicken and bacon is not vegetarian, right? Lots of options. I wish there were one of these places local to me. The meal was filling, but not heavy. My salad had great ripe pear and apple. Thanks for the lunch memories!

I showed up 30 minutes before closing and no one was in the restaurant. They had already started packing away all the soups. I spent about 5 minutes studying the menu and thought it was entertaining to see all the names they gave the salads. Unforttunately, whoever was closing on July 5th (last month), didn't want any other customers, including myself. I was stared at and given the "WTF do you want" look. I ordered a cup of broccoli cheese soup and a caesar salad. The caesar salad gets half a star and the other half, well, this was the lowest score I could give this establishment. Even when I move up to Denver, I don't think I will ever go back to this place. If you're wondering about the broccoli cheese soup: think runny yellow phlegm from the previous flu season with an overly saturated salty ramen flavor taste. A total fail.

Overpriced, convience store style food at the Denver Convention center warranted a 2 block walk over to this place. Even Apu from the Quickie Mart on the Simpsons would have been disappointed in those guys. Mad Greens to the rescue... Excellent salads at good prices. Southwest Ceasar...who would have thought? Large protions. Line too long though during the lunch rush. Seating pretty limited. I guess the secret's out. Budget for time if you're heading in for lunch.

I love this place. Mad greens serves fresh yummy salads and panini's that are really unique. The prices are affordable too. You can sit out front when the weather is nice and enjoy your meal. My husband and I order the mad math combo and waters and it's always filling and it's under twenty dollars, not bad in my book.

I love a good salad for lunch, and visited this place several times since I work nearby. The Mad Molly Brown was my salad of choice. On my first visit, I was turned off by the fact that employees do not wear gloves when preparing the salads. In my mind, and I'm not a total germ freak, but when dealing with raw ingredients, gloves should be worn. Then two weeks ago, after eating a Molly Brown salad that appeared to have an odd amount of wilted spinach leaves for lunch, I came down with a four-day long bout with food poisoning. Two IVs to replenish my fluids, and 7 lbs of lost weight later, I vowed to never eat here again. Be warned.

I was in Denver for work and there was this spot practically in the lobby of my office building... Well, back at home I never ever would have tried anything so convenient... I mean... What's the fun in that? Well... turns out... This is my absolute favorite lunch spot EVER!!! I'm always looking for a salad/soup/panini place... well and this is it... This is what i wanted... Ingredients and combos that allow you to eat a different salad every day!! And the fact that it's 1,000 away and that there are none anywhere near me makes it just THAT much more appealing to me...

  • Angela C.

I will preface this by saying I did not eat here, so this is NOT based on the food quality... I'll tell you why I didn't eat there. I walked in at lunch time to a long line (good, right? that means people like them?) As I entered the overly cooled establishment, the air hit my face like a wave of clorox. All I could smell was bleach! I decided to wait it out a bit. I couldn't handle it for more than 30 seconds. It was so overwhelmingly beachy that I made a quick getaway and breathed a sigh of fresh, albeit humid, air outside. I like clean, but I don't want to smell "clean" while eating. Ew!

  • L L.

Loved the soup I had, a chili connoction with mad taste. The greek salad I had was not so bad. I was disappointed in the soup portion size as it was really tiny, but otherwise I found the meal and the service to be very good, and would come back here to eat again if I'm in town.

    (4)
  • Claire B.

I would give it a 5 star but it's pricey for salad! No joke no joke! Salads are made to your likings, but if you add the meats and extras, there goes your lunch budget down the drain. It's only open from early lunch to early evening. Almost every small business in downtown closes early, like as if there is a curfew.

  • Justin W.

Mad Greens has a mad crazy menu and a mad awesome website, but does the food match up with mad taste? Well, not quite... but it's still pretty good. I liked the Don Quixote salad and the Carl Spackler Club panini (props for the sun dried tomato mayo). The Nobo seagaru and Castro Cuban were just okay.

  • Emily E.

I like MAD Greens because it has a great selection of diverse ingredients for some big salads. It's also great for quick lunch breaks because their assemblyline style service means lunch is ready for your pretty fast! A little pricey, but it is a very healthy meal, totally worth getting lunch at especially if you sit in an office all day long!

The lunch special - half salad/half panini is actually two meals. Save the panini for later - soooo good!

as the tilted kilt is a British version of hooters, Mad Greens is a healthy version of chipolte, cold stone, qdoba etc... now I'm only really comparing this place to "Greens" down the street but i would have to choose Mad Greens over greens based upon the amount of choices they have, the quality of the food and the service although beware as you pick toppings your price increases as well

The frugal gal in me just wont let me give them 4 stars! $8.49 for a BLT salad with onions and a tea is just more money than I want to spend on a light lunch. I will stick to making my own salads at home. I get it, it's fresh produce with no preservatives and all--A-OK in my book. Plus, their green tea is the kind that does not need sweetener or lemon to have a complex, delicious taste. I will sneak in for refills, for sure. They had no probs or extra charge for making my greens half spinach neither. And hey peeps calling it fast-food salad: I would totally disagree! They offer all sorts of natural things green (except that one, hippie) with no preservatives and are light on the dressing if you want (I've had no probs with what they consider light). So what if your spinach has a little drizzle of fat and oil on it? They say that actually helps aid in digestion and absorption of nutrients.Popeye would approve! The good thing about Mad Greens, which I should be eternally thankful for, is that fresh produce does not entice you to increase your caloric intake with sensual smells as you walk by on the street or into the lobby of the building. If they would just return that money they save on energy and fry grease on to the consumer, I would be nothing but ecstatic to go everyday.

I used to love coming here right at 11, because everything was stocked up and seemed so fresh. Lately, though, when I come at 11 it is obvious they're using up some of the previous day's veggies. Now I'm all about eliminating waste, but the baby greens in my salad were really soft and wilted, like a salad left out overnight. Like a salad that you would not eat. I'll probably still eat here, but I'll come later in the day, when they've used up the old stuff.

    (2)
  • J C.

Not a bad place, not bad prices, but easier on the dressing, guys...? No? I dunno, I got the "light" amount and my salad was still kinda soupy toward the bottom.

  • Christina M. R.

I always feel like a dumbass when I have to order food named after someone. Like "I'll have the Napoleon with a side of Nietzsche" sounds really really stupid coming out of my mouth. I usually stumble over it and stare at the menu instead of looking at whoever is taking my order and it's really awkward. Still, MAD Greens makes up for it in what they serve. They have a lot of options for size and ingredients and choosing something is difficult because it's all healthy and good. The line was out the door at lunchtime during the work week. It moved quickly, and the food was worth it.

  • Krissy R.

I really love this place! I went here twice and if I lived in Denver (thank GOD I don't) I would go here all the time. The prices are high for salad but the options are limitless and the ingredients are fresh. The staff is friendly but expect long lines if you go during the lunch rush. There are a few dessert options (like fresh cookies and sorbet) and some panini options, but the main attraction here is the salads.

I love the concept of Mad Greens- tons of creative, fresh salads. They have a huge list of different salads with unique ingredients that I would have never put together, but work (mango and corn? awesome!). The salads are good, as are the paninis, but I think that Mad Greens is a little expensive for what it is and the amt.- esp. the paninis, which are pretty small. It's $9 for a small salad and 1/2 a panini. But, the salads are fresh and made in front of you, so you can choose to have lots or little dressing, add extra ingredients (for a fee) etc. Don't get the pita on the side though- they keep them heated in aluminum foil so they taste weird. Good place to go for lunch if you want something light, but I wouldn't go if you are really hungry.

  • Kathleen A.

I love this place. One of the BEST places to get a salad. I would give it 5 stars, but it is quite expensive. I had the General Custer salad with Chicken, and it cost me nearly $8. For a small size! This place is definitely pricey, but it's a great place to get a good salad. There are plenty of choices and you can choose a build your own salad or choose one of their own. However, you can't run out of things to try here.

Stopped in for a morning snack - pita and dressing and some local lemonade. Would love to try a real lunch there - they have fresh salads they mix on the spot and serve in the mixing bowl. The selection is insane.

The previous review I had written in this space actually described my trip to Green Fine Salad Co., which is much better. Mad Greens is fine, but the lettuce is tired, the options are smaller, and you can do better at Green Fine Salad Co.

The salads here are okay. However, like another reviewer pointed out, there are far better places for salads in the area.

  • Derrick L.

For food close to the convention center, it's pretty reasonable in juxtaposition to the otherwise dismal food options around the convention center. I had the Da Vinci salad with tuna, which was fine. I mean, really, 16th street seems to have a lot of potential, yet it's essentially all chain restaurants, bar-grills, and BBQ. Mad greens provided a brief respite to the oil and fat encasing the convention center... until I had time to take the five block walk to Larimar.

Let me just say I love the whole vibe of Mad Greens, from the modern and fantastic menu names to the fast, friendly service. I come here often durning my lunch break and I am always left satisfied; the employees are truly great; I would say this is a great place to go if your looking for a fast lunch (not to be confused with "fast food"). One of my favorite lunch spots for sure!!!

  • Evey M.

Maybe it's my fault for choosing the things I do when it comes to Mad Green but I just do not like this place. I have been there several times and everytime it has been less than good... not terrible but not good. I think I am giving up this place for something better.

Ok, this is another one of those make it - custom build it yourself kinda salad joints. It's actually the second one I've ever been to and by far this one had the most confusing menu. Well not confusing like you can't figure it out BUT it just took forever to pick something. I literally got a neck cramp from staring at the menu for so long. Anyway, if you wanna eat healthy, come here. I ended up ordering a small Ernest Hemingway salad and 1/2 a Castro cuban panini sandwich. The small salad was a good size. I thought it would be smaller. The rounded container that it comes in was bad for eating because every time I tried to stick my salad w/ my fork, the bowl kept tipping over. The yogurt dressing was a little bland but after adding some salt and pepper, it tasted better. The sandwich was quite tasty with the ham, relish and cheese all melted together. My only complaints about this place are one of the workers had a bad attitude and the service was really slow. The line kept growing and I saw numerous people stand up, walk over to the cashier and ask when their food was coming. Bad, bad service. I even saw a couple people leave the line and walk out.

This is my go-to lunch spot! Love the DaVinci salad and the Castro Cuban panini! Perfect combinations. I was scared to look up the nutrition information but was pleasantly surprised to find that my favorite combination was only about 500 calories! Green Fine Salad doesn't even compare in my book.

Mad Greens is a fantastic choice for a fabulous salad customized to your liking. Here you can chose one of the pre-conceptualized salads with names like Dionysus or Ernest Hemingway. Further, many of the salads have invigorating "Behind the salad stories," which you can visit in person and then revisit on-line. For instance, the Napoleon salad is in fact an actual salad created by Napoleon for his five-course "Napoleon Dinner." Interesting. Aside from unique salad creations, one can also indulge in creations of their own. Choose from eight different ingredients for a personalized salad! Also, worth mentioning, the soup is often quite good too. No space to sit, but really great for takeaway. Go Denver chains!

A great lunch spot! Wish Mad Greens would franchise as these would be great in California! They have a creative salad menu or you can build your own salad! You pay by the ingredient rather than weight, so you don't end up paying $20 for a salad! I had a small Cobb salad with 1/2 of a Marilyn Monroe panini, which was turkey, goat cheese, and sun-dried tomatoes. I also like how they asked me how much dressing I preferred on my salad, so it was tossed just right! My lunch came to $11.89 including an iced tea. A good deal and really tasty lunch!

i can understand some of the average reviews on here.. but since i'm not local and i don't have anything like this back home, it really stood out to me! i came here for lunch and got a big, fresh salad with lots of toppings, custom made for less than $10. the salad was so big i wish i requested smaller topping portions so not to waste. i kinda wish they offered more organic.. but i still loved the place and would probably visit twice or more a wk if i lived here.

i love the names mad greens created for their salads and sandwiches. i had the edgar allen poe and the marilyn monroe and it was delicious! it was made fresh to order and served in a big salad bowl. good lunch place.

  • R C.

It was OK. I got a veggie panini. I wanted to change the type of onion on the panini but was bummed to see "no substitutions" as the sandwiches are pre-made. It was tasty, but I was unimpressed. I would return to give it another try as it seems a healthy option on the run, however I won't go out of my way to get there.

this place is money, straight up. robin p., in LA, everything in mad greens would be twice as expensive. so really, its reasonable. and the food was great. the salads looked fresh and tasty. the soup, albeit standard was just what the dr. ordered and the paninis were crazy delicious. if only you could substitute :\ also, cute guys in line! i would return, i would recommend and i would advise the owners to expand out west manifest destiny style!

I am always looking for spots with healthier options and this is one of them! The first time I tried Mad Greens I went for the Van Gogh salad with a side of vinaigrette and enjoyed the meal. THey have great salad creations or you can make your own! The second time I went I decided to try one of the paninis - the Howard Hughes. I wasn't very impressed with the flavors on this one. I think I will stick with the salad menu if I return.
