I don't think this place is necessarily bad, just not one of the better breweries in Denver. Especially when Great Divide is just a couple blocks away. I lived in the building attached to this and was disappointed after a few different visits here in the taste and quality of their brews. When talking to one of the bartenders, they said they specialized in high abv styles. I think the taste of the brews suffers a little from this, but everyone has their own tastes, so I'm sure plenty of people enjoy their beers. However, I do find their beers a little overpriced and the space isn't too big, so it fills up very quickly on weekend nights. They also do not serve any food at all, but they do typically have food trucks that they have outside. The staff here are mostly all very kind people and fairly helpful. They do seem to rotate their beers pretty often as well. Overall I would say this place is pretty meh, and there are a lot better breweries in the Denver area and probably would spend my money elsewhere.

Jagged Mountain was Brewery #7 since my return to Denver. Hubs and I were doing some brewery hopping on a sunny Saturday and Jagged Mountain was stop number two. I liked the space of the tasting room it was roomy and there was plenty of natural light coming in from all the windows. We bellied up to the bar and enjoyed watching some college football while we were going over the beer list. The list has plenty of options and I went with a flight like I tend to for my first visit. One thing I noticed right away were the prices. The pints were $6 and the tasters were $2. Here I was getting excited thinking beer was cheap to drink in Colorado due to the pricing at previous breweries. Out of my flight of five I only really enjoyed one. The Peak Bagger was a tasty beer and I rated this imperial white IPA a 4.5 on Untapped, but the rest of the beers came in at a three for me. We enjoyed chatting with the friendly servers behind the bar. Being that we were both from Michigan made for fun conversation. There was a food truck set up outside and this seems the norm which is nice. I did enjoy that their weren't any little ones running around considering the place we had left had a bunch. Sorry I come to the breweries to get away from mine and everyone else's. I love kids I have 3, I just need mental time away from them. Considering Jagged Mountain is downtown and close to a few other breweries I may stop by and give them another chance if we're hopping around, but I'm not going to say hey why not head down to Jagged Mountain when there are others I enjoy more.

Best beer I had in Denver! My bf and I visited Denver for a concert and being the beer lovers that we are we tried tons of different beers all over the city. This place had both of our favorites! Plus, it reminded us of a classic brewery you might find in the PNW. If you love good beer and a low-key brewery definitely make this a must-do on your trip. P.S. There are other good places within two blocks of this place as well.

Jagged is teetering precariously close to five stars, but they haven't quite convinced me to make the plunge yet. But that's okay. At just a few months old, Jagged is young and still has plenty of room to grow. And grow they will in a location like theirs, with easy access to an increasingly popular section of downtown. I suspect they'll make a killing once the Rockies start playing, too. All that aside, the beers are solid, but not quite at the level of variety/quality needed to make my A-list. I ordered a full flight on my first visit and found maybe two stand-outs out of seven. None of them struck me enough to prevent me from exploring on my second visit and for this I was grateful: The Junta is awesome. I snagged one while my buddy grabbed one of the IPAs. We sampled each other's beers and both ordered Juntas for our second round. I hope this is or will become one of their mainstays, because I will come back just for this beer. The overall ambiance is just the right level of casual for me, with a few TVs providing points of random distraction and subdued mountaineering themed decorations. I'm a bit of a climber and love looking over the various photos they have. I'd love to see them do some kind of event with one of the local climbing gyms, but we'll have to give them more time to get on their feet first. The staff is friendly if a little sparse. It's hard to tell if this is because they haven't quite hammered out when their busy times are or they're being frugal owing to the expenses a brand new establishment incurs. Either way, you'll have to wait a bit to get your drink even if it's only moderately busy. They've taken the path of many other microbrews and paired up with local food trucks to feed their customers. This is actually what enabled me to try WongWayVeg, a delicious and ultra friendly affair that fostered my affection for both establishments simultaneously. Well-played... They keep a full calendar scheduling when which food truck will be present, so check ahead if you're particular in your food truck sensibilities. So really, if you've never been, definitely give it a try. Worst case scenario, Great Divide Brewing is about a five minute walk away, so you really can't lose.

Dropped in for a quick flight after visits to Epic, River North and Great Divide, so I was a bit saucy, and hungry, as I sat at the bar. I saw a saison on the beer list and had to try it, 1) to compare to River North's, 2) because I love saisons, and 3) because it's the season and weather for such a beer. My impression is it wasn't as good as River North's, but still was good. Can't remember much else about its characteristics, but hey, go try it for yourself. It's totally a respectable take on the style. I also had a try of the Vallecito and the Vallecito WBC, essentially the same beer with some tweaks on the latter to put it into competition for the World Beer Cup. I liked the latter better, feeling it was truer to style (Belgian Dark, I think) with a more potent and robust malt flavor and some dark fruit notes. I'd have kept trying beers here, but the guy next to me eating delicious-looking pizza, plus the rumblings in my stomach and my desire to hit Freshcraft, pulled me away from here. I did like the atmosphere, the space, and the fact that a live band was jamming (even if it was some folsky, hippie shit). I need to revisit this place on my next trip.

The beer was not cold. Boo! There's potential there.

Great beer. Great location. Great layout. Dropped in with a group on a Friday after work. There was plenty of 2 hour street parking available and this place was very easy to find. The beer was fantastic. I really enjoyed the American IPA and the Barley Wine. And, even though our group was ~30 people, there was plenty of room and there was never a long wait for a beer. Just a great set up.

  • Kristen N.

I like the setting a lot, but the beer I have been less then impressed with. The first few times I came, they had very few options on tap, so I gave them some time to catch up with their brew schedule. I can imagine they get slammed being downtown and near Coors Field. So, I returned last night. and while they definitely had more on tap, the beer I decided on was, once again, less than great. Not bad, just not anything I would return for. The high tables are great and I love that they have just a few TVs. Makes it so you still need to create your own fun, but can grab glimpses of a game you may want to see.

I am not a beer snob. I will try about any craft beer, no matter the kind. That being said, I enjoyed my experience at Jagged Mountain. I really like their Barking Marmot and the Hop Sponge 1. Both are Smooth and flavorful. The facility is large and accommodating. I like that is off the beaten path (not 16th street mall or Lodo) so there was parking and not too busy after work. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. My one complaint is the lack of lower ABV beers. Not for me. Like I said, I will try anything. But bringing friends that are newly liking beer, two saisons isn't much of an option of them when it comes to a brewery. It is fall and heavier beers are more popular so I take that into consideration. I also take into consideration that I need new friends who are real beer drinkers ;).

  • Lance L.

Been here several times over the last year. It's never too busy, even on a Friday night. The quality of the beer has improved immeasurably as they figure out what they want to do. The space is amazing and the staff is always friendly.

I visited Jagged Mountain during a beer tour, and it turned out to be my favorite place of the day! Tons of seating, tons of natural daylight, a massive bar, and very friendly service made for a great experience. There was a great variety of beers (anyone could find something that they like) and all that I tried tasted fabulous. Because it is more centrally located than other breweries in Denver (lots are popping up in the RiNo/Five Points areas), I will certainly be back often!

  • Jenna C.

Bartenders are great, especially Karl. The fact that they are dog friendly is AMAZING. The beer is tastey and the crow is generally a nice mellow, but fun group. Totally recommend for after-work happy hour or a chill Friday night.

Eh. I agree with most of the other beer snobs. This place is fine but nothing remarkable. We came here on my birthday for an afternoon beer and a respite from the oncoming downpour. I do like the wide variety of beer they have but I would sacrifice a couple if it meant the rest could be of a higher quality. We only got one round here and it was mostly thanks to the cold environment (I like industrial but this just felt impersonal), the just ok beer, and the not inviting service. We tried the IPA and saison and they were both fine but incredibly forgettable. The thing that most turned me off though was when we went to the bar to order; the bartender was really cold and standoffish, but when I gave him my ID he said "this is expired" and gruffly thrust it back at me. I pointed out that no, it was in fact not expired, adding "It's Xth, see? It's my birthday." He kind of grumbled that I was right but that was it- not even an apology or a "happy birthday by the way". So, he forgot what day it was, but it was at least a reminder to me to renew my license. The way he went about it was just so weirdly cold, though, just not the way a bartender should really interact with new customers. I didn't enjoy the beer or the interaction, though I did like the food truck outside. Unfortunately that's not enough and I won't be returning.

  • Krystal M.

I kind of have agree with some of the other comments here; the beer is just okay... the one I liked best was Vallecito, a black saison. All of the other beers were just okay, but nothing that made me really love it or want a ton more. This place does have an excellent location though in a cool older building and a nice little patio. The servers were also really friendly, there is free wifi as well as 2 tv's for sports and even some board games. So I'm sure I'll be back to give it another shot, hopefully there will be more memorable beers then.

One of the larger seating areas of the craft breweries in Denver. Very industrial kind of look inside and overall good beer. A must visit if you're in the area

  • Matt A.

Cool place but really didn't find a beer that was great or that was even something I would want again. Overall just... Meh. Glad I tried it out though.

  • Nat S.

Beer was alright, maybe I am just getting burnt out and cynical, with all the sicky beer. I had an IPA, bf had the Saison. They are known for the saison and it was good, we tried a couple other brews and not sure what else I would order there. Nice bartender and a chill environment.

On my third visit to Jagged Mountain I'm finding there are a couple beers that I do enjoy. On previous visits I didn't really like much of what I had but since it had been quite a while since I was there I decided to do a redux of their tap list. This time I tried tasters of the Timberline barley wine, Cocoa Grizzly porter, the Wolfgang black saison, the Ptarmigan Ridge dark Cascadian, Sky Pond pale, Sawatch IPA, and the Mountain Town brown. Although most of the beers were at least drinkable the Timberline and Sawatch were the two that I would drink a pint (or in the case of the Timberline 8oz) of again. As an added bonus they had The Brooks Smokehouse food wagon slinging some tasty looking eats and perfuming the place with wonderful smells while we were there. I debated between 3 stars or 4 because liking 2 out of 7 (well actually 2 out of 8 because I had a taste of Dale's Cougar Slayer blackberry saison.) of their beers doesn't really justify "Yay! I'm a fan." but they've improved on each visit so i'll give them the benefit of the doubt that this upward trend will continue.

Great people and beer! I worked with the owners to host an event here 2 weeks ago and they gave us 3 large tables and I was able to bring in my own caterer. They have a program called Jagged Gives and through guests purchasing beer the day of our event we raised an additional $1 from each beer.

Always a great time at Jagged mountain! The atmosphere is perfect for a late summer evening with friends and Saturday was no exception. I had a couple of samplers and loved the spearhead saison. It was perfect for the mood I was in. They have games you can play and a self service water area. The food truck this time had awesome ice cream sandwiches.....

This place was great! A good selection of beers, a black saison on tap-had never seen one of them before! The porter was our favorite, definitely worth a stop by to enjoy a flight of brews

This brewery was my last stop of the evening a few days ago, while wrapping up vacation. Really great taproom and bartenders. I got the IPA, and it was so good, I got another. It was also nice that they had a food truck outside, so I was able to get a bison burger with my beers. The location is great, close to Coors Field and 16th St mall area. I went to quite a few breweries over my 2 days out there, and as far as the music goes, I liked their selection the best. Not that you go to a brewery to listen to music, but I think it added to the cool atmosphere and vibe. I'm looking forward to returning whenever I'm out there again.

Try their beer fudgesicles they are sooooo good!

This brewery is located in downtown, about where the Five Points neighborhood starts. Parking can be a little tricky in that case. It is all metered parking nearby and since I am a cheapskate I drove a little farther to where there is free 2 hour parking off of Broadway. I figured I could use a walk too. I ducked in here and got two tasters of two different Saisons. I thought both were excellent! I'm glad that Saison beers are slowly getting more popular overall because I got hooked onto it when I lived in Fort Collins and the closest brewery specialized only in Saisons!

  • Amy B.

We rushed back to Denver from Vail before our flight to stop at this brewery. It was awesome! The place is huge, it wasn't too busy but it was Saturday at like 2pm, Brandon was a huge fan because they had so many IPA's so he did a sampler of a bunch of them. I think if we had of had more time we would have stayed longer for sure. Only complaint is that they didn't have any mens shirts in size L or XL, I mean isn't that the most popular size? Should probably stalk up, we came all the way from Florida and couldn't get anything.

I've been to Jagged Mountain a handful of times and have yet to find a beer I could say I was a fan of. Sure, they are all decent but none are overly memorable. Because Colorado is becoming so over saturated with craft breweries, I feel like it is comes down to how picky you want to be about your beer. With this beer, I am pretty picky. The first time I stopped in the IPA was cloudy almost like a wheat beer, the second time I stopped in it looked more like your typical IPA. They had two different saisons on tap last time I was there one with low ABV and one with a higher ABV. I didn't care for the low one but the high one was alright. The Scottish isn't really very true to style, it seems to taste more like a standard Amber ale than a Scottish with a nice peat flavor. The service is nice but seems slow. The space is pretty modern and the location is pretty convenient to Coors Field, so that will be good for them. But with so many choices in town nowadays, throw a stone and try a place out. For me, this isn't really *the* place.

  • Anna J.

This location is super convenient to where I frequently visit, so I enjoy stopping in for a beer. However, my last visit was slightly disappointing. When asking the bartender which beer he would recommend, he was neither friendly or helpful. Ultimately I ordered the Isabella bird which was a nice treat, I just wish the staff were friendlier.

Great place to stop for some local microbrews. The 80 shilling is really smooth and if you like something that really kicks but try the Barley Wine.

    (5)
  • Ben M.

Prototypical microbrew tap room: Connect Four and unique beers in the same space. Lodo needs more bars like this. River North and Great Divide aren't enough -- especially with an abundance of new apartments coming online by 2014. That means more booze-hungry youngins looking for a hip place to tip a pint.

To start our second and final Colorado brewpub crawl last week we started here. This place has been open less than a month, and my brother who lives in the metro area wasn't even familiar with it yet, but we spied it driving to his house the previous day and decided to stop in. It's a really cool, open corner loft space with floor-to-ceiling windows and a series of very cool mountain climbing photos that have been blown up onto large canvas mounts. When we asked, the name of the place and the photo theme stem from the fact that the owner/investors are all mountain enthusiasts. According to the bartender the main one actually did his understudy at one of the leading craft brewers in the US, Bell's out of southern Michigan (which CAN'T be a bad thing since we are big fans of the Bells Boys), although his focus at this place is clearly the 'high test' or strong ales. This is reflected in the 6 beers initially on tap - 3 types of IPAs, 2 Saisons and a Scottish Ale. They were indeed all decidedly pretty powerful on the 'ABV' scales and none blew me away taste-wise, but then again, I'm probably not the biggest fan of these styles either. The Belgian IPA was certainly drinkable. The large soap stone bar is the main focus but there are a number of community tables as well. While they did offer some table games to keep those at the community tables amused, there are no TVs and they are dependent on food trucks, so our recommendation is to start a happy hour here (they don't open until 2:00) with their winter 'warmers' and go elsewhere to eat and watch games.

  • Shawn C.

Good atmosphere, standard beer tasting room vibe (fun, clean, like a Viking hall). Saisons are very smooth, loved the Barking Marmot. The old ales are unique. Wow. Try one, just to try it. Not sure I'll buy it many more times but glad I tried it.

    (4)
  • Jenny H.

Fun place! Love the big windows. Very cool how the bar is made from recycled barnwood and how the beautiful mountain photos decorating the walls were taken by the owners. AND the beer is spectacular. Many have a complex mixture of aromas reminiscent of a fine wine. Check this place out!

  • Stephen P.

A year after helping to fund them on Kickstarter, I finally managed to get down to Denver and actually go inside. I sat at the bar and waited for any of the three bartenders to notice me. After 10 minutes of them talking to each other (with no other customers to serve) and completely ignoring both me and another person at the bar with no drink, I stood up and walked out. I wish I hadn't given them any money at all. My logo pint glass does not make up for them being dicks. Now I'm going to have to just fill it with water, as a sign of dishonor.

    (1)
  • Michael P.

A better time/brewery than I would have expected. However, one word of warning: if they have a band, it is not meant to introduce you to that band. The sound level is such that it will be nearly impossible to carry on a conversation or do anything but listen to that band. If you're a die-hard fan of a band and want to be immersed: you are in luck. If not, ...urgh. We, the people who have booked this group are not interested if you have friends or other interests.

  • Jason C.

Had some cool beers and cool times. The bartender, Samantha, was super friendly and helpful. She knew a lot about the beer here, and the history of the brewery. They had a lot of unique beers. The Men Who Drink From Goats was a bit too one note on the smoke for me. The Cougar Slayer was tasty and had a nice finish. The Triple Bypass was a bit too sweet for me, but I may have hopped myself out of the market. The place had a cool vibe and was open till 11pm, so it was a great place to stop on my crawl through the city's breweries.

    (4)
  • Lauren B.

Not much to say here. The beer was ok, the service wasn't spectacular, and the pretzel we ordered had definitely been a frozen one just minutes before. It was a good place to stop and rest at their outdoor tables, but there are better breweries in Denver.

    (2)
  • Mark N.

I tried about 5 of the beers on tap and while the service and beer quality were good, I'm just not a fan of warm beer. The waitress said that "it's our style," and while that might be cool for some, I'm still a fan of a frosted mug.

  • Katy S.

I love craft beer. I love checking out local breweries. I love Denver. Thus, I love Jagged Mountain. Stopped in for a round of beers on a recent Denver trip. I was impressed with the fun atmosphere and the large beer selection. There was plenty of room for our large party to sit and the bartenders were very nice. The beers were really tasty, as well. I enjoyed viewing the posters for the fun events that they host. This is definitely a cool spot to chill in downtown Denver, but be aware that they don't serve food so check to see if there is a food truck if you are hungry!

  • Carolyn P.

I'm embarrassed by how long it took me to get to Jagged Mountain and now I'm mourning all the delicious beer that I didn't taste over all those months. We came in on a rainy Tuesday so it was rather quiet in the taproom, which was a great atmosphere for catching up with some old friends over a few pints. I'm a lover of Belgians and I really enjoyed the Thunder Thighs quad. Smooth and seductive...and a great name to boot! They are delightfully dog-friendly both inside the taproom and out on the patio, which makes for a happy pup in our house. Food trucks are often parked outside and usually posted on their website for the week. A fun fact. They have a run club that meets on Thursday nights and finishes their run with a pint. Haven't been able to get myself there yet, but I'm all about a cold brewskie at the finish line!

    (4)
  • Emily H.

Probably more of a 3.5 star place. Open seating area and a different food truck parked out front each day. They do sampler flights in fours. The beers I tried almost seemed more cask style. A little flatter/warmer than I'm used to. I thought they were okay, not great. Service is very friendly. Trivia on Thursdays and live music on Wednesdays. Also dog friendly!!! They love dogs and Fido is welcome

  • Meredith C.

The lovely smell of brewing beer slaps you in the face (in a good way) all the way across the street. I'm a sucker for a brown ale and the mountain Town did not let me down. The Wolfpack Black Saison was equally as amazing...I would probably order it next time I came! The atmosphere is casual and friendly...full of locals at 4:00 on a Friday. Also, get the kettle corn popcorn to snack on!

The yelp tag says it all for two stars "Meh. I've experienced better." I really have experienced better tasting beers all over the crazy brewery scene in Denver. I came in here for a friend's birthday during a snow storm a few weeks back and tried a couple of their beers and found that I could barely drink them because of the flat taste. We asked the bartender if there was anything going on with their taps and she responded that she thought there might have been something going on but wasn't sure. Shouldn't you taste your beers regularly and know what they're supposed to taste like? That seemed odd to me. Several others noted the beers tasted flat and we were drinking different kinds. I will have to try this place again some other time but for now there are so many other breweries who's beers are on point that this place is at the back of the line.

  • Jessi J.

Stopped in here for a few beers after a Rockies' game last week. What a nice place! The weather was perfect, so they had the side doors open, which I love. Totally changes the atmosphere. I tried their Wheat beer, forgive me I forget the name. It was very different, but totally delish! I will definitely be going back, because it looks like they have an amazing line up of food trucks available from time to time as well. And, obviously, plenty of beer to try!

  • Cullen E.

We've been here twice now and thoroughly enjoyed this brewery on both occasions. The brewery is very centrally located and was within walking distance after GABF, which was our second visit. You'll step into a very cozy building with ample seating and televisions for whatever games are on. The beers are top notch and some are quite creative. We managed to grab one of their beers that has been aged in tequila barrels. I'm not a huge tequila fan, but this beer was amazing. Definitely swing by Jagged Mountain if you're in the area and want some good beer!

Came through on a baseball trip and stopped in before a Rockies game. The staff was very knowledgeable about the brews. Good local vibe.

Great place for a large party. They have board games and cards if you want to kick back and spend a few hours with your friends. I appreciate that they have drunk munchies like exotic flavored popcorn and a food truck that serves fresh/awesome tacos! My favorite thing on the menu was the barley wine but I don't know if it's everyone's cup of tea. If you like sweet wine or more specifically honey wine, or something with a low IBU, then you will probably love it.

  • Richard R.

Man alive! This is a fun place to get your drink on. I'm very impressed with how much improved this brewery has become since it first opened. There is a ton of great beer that will get you right where you need to go. It's not the most economical brewery in town but it's well worth the cost! Let's start off with the beer itself. I've never had such a delicious saison as the Spearhead served here. It's got a pretty high ABV so that helps too. The lager is simple and tasty but nothing too great. I don't think they have a bad beer here but some have a much higher ABV than you would expect. That means good times :-) What really makes this place stand out are the employees. My favorite bartender is Kelly who always takes good care of me and my friends. She knows her beer, knows her customers and is a laugh riot plus half! The other employees are usually very attentive as well. That's good service. I really dig the location which might be one reason why the prices are a bit higher. But, the space itself is pretty cool. Nice open ceilings with the pipework showing plus big doors to open in the summer means you get some good air in there. Tables and high-tops and bar seats are all available depending on the time you arrive. During Rockies season it can get pretty packed but that just because it's such a cool and popular place. Way cool.

Most important things first, I really enjoyed their beer. I skew to the saisons and I enjoyed both the Cougar Slayer (blackberry saison) and Wolfpack (black saison). Beers are moderately priced at $5 - $6 / pint. We (unknowingly, perhaps stupidly) went just before a Rockies game and this place is a stone's throw from Coors. After grabbing a table, I waited for the overwhelming crowds, but they never really came. I think that the design of this place helps - looooong bar, several four tops, and quite a few long communal tables. Seems like a good place to meet up with large or small groups. There was also a food truck parked outside during our visit. Only complaints: took an unusually long time to actually get someone at the bar to acknowledge you and get you a beer. I got a Baker St pretzel (because beer) and that also took a little too long, especially considering it's just microwaved. Some of the actual mountainy people in my group were pretty tickled at all the expensive equipment being used as decoration, but once again, minor details at a brewery with good beer.

Cool place to hangout with lots of selection of beer! I was here during the Cherry Blossom Festival this past weekend and they had a special beer made for the occasion. Although I'm not a big beer fan, the light fruity flavored beer was great! It looks like they have live music and food trucks that come sometimes. The only downside is they don't serve food (unless there's a food truck here).

I love the location of Jagged Mountain, and the interior of the brewery is pretty nice. I went on a weekday around 3pm, so my brother and I were the only ones there. The employees were nice, and they didn't try to be too friendly despite the lull in business. My brother and I were talking, so it was actually nice that they did their own thing. I did do a bit of subconscious eavesdropping though, and they were pretty knowledgeable regarding the beer scene, which is always nice to hear. The beer though, was just alright. I ordered the black IPA because it's one of my favorite styles of beer, and it just didn't hold up to some of the others I've tried. It was by no means the worst black IPA I've had, but it wasn't memorable. I also had the Keyhole IPA, which was refreshing - which a session IPA should be - but I was missing a bit of extra flavor. I guess I expect a session to bring something else to the table other than simply light hops. I rated them both as 3 stars on Untappd, so like I said, not the best, not the worst.

The beer is about as bland as Bud Light. They seem proud of their selection but they can't compete with all of the other breweries around. The bartenders tried their hardest not to make eye contact, as they were busy visiting with each other. And I get that this is Colorado but don't come in to work so stoned that you can't hold a simple conversation with your customers.

Had the sawatch which is an American ipa. I'm a big fan of IPAs and I was impressed with this one. Definitely recommend.

A really great selection of beer with some unusual ones that you don't see among the tons of other breweries that have opened. We enjoyed the Barking Marmot and the tasting flight is a great deal. The servers are helpful and happy to answer any questions you might have or help you pick out a beer that suits your tastes.

I really wish I didnt have a head cold when I went here..it was really hard to get the smell/taste of the beers down. The good thing though is these guys have some BIG beers..so even with a cold I was able to tell they have some damn good beers. I will need to go back a few more times (without a cold) to get a better opinion but first impressions are high. The space is pretty cool. Nice and open with higher ceilings and cool tables. Theres a big garage door too for those nice days. They also have a bit of a mountaineering theme going on..right up my alley. Loved the misc mountaineering gear on the walls and such.

It's so unfortunate I can't give a higher rating- maybe it's a Tuesday night thing? This review is based on two consecutive visits. The bar guy was a little too good to be friendly and certainly wasn't going to come down to your level of explaining craft brews. He also asked people to bring up empty glasses and never once cleared our empties. No matter how good your beer or location is - if you don't have a friendly face to guide your experience, it's a no go for me at least. Check your values Jagged Mountain.

First impressions: they can make you or they can break you. This is no less true for breweries, especially breweries in Denver where everyone's second cousin is opening up shop to sling suds on every other street corner. So, while I would prefer not to pass judgment after just one visit to Jagged Mountain, the reality of the situation in a craft beer drinking city like ours is that the market is saturated with breweries doing it right, so if I'm not impressed in one visit, I'll just walk another block down the street to try something else. And, frankly, I just wasn't impressed with Jagged Mountain's beer. Much like the air when you climb to the very tip, top peak of a jagged mountain, the beer was thin. Sure, you may be thirsty for water when you're climbing, but when I'm parked in a bar stool, I want beers with body. I especially want and expect beers with body and flavor when your tap list is predominately Belgians and Saisons, but no such luck here. Lest you think I'm being overly critical, the barkeep during our visit actually referred to their Zero Gravity Saison and Scottish Ale as "watery," which is a far cry from a good sales pitch. While my first impression of Jagged Mountain was pretty disappointing, I'm sure their business will do just fine due to their location. Their taproom is large with plenty of communal tables for Rockies fans to assemble around. I'm more about the beer than the baseball, though, so I'll just mosey along to the next brewery.

With so many breweries in Colorado, it's hard to write a review that captures why you should try their craft. But, Jagged Mountain does an excellent job of providing a reason to choose them over the hundreds of others in the area. The Wolfpack provides a refreshing new flavor to the Saison. Not at all what I expected, with an anise flavor that complemented the style well. Definitely worth a visit to appreciate their ingenuity.

I toured a few micros during my last trip to Denver, and this was my favorite. The beer quality was top notch, the people were great, and the food truck concept was delightful. I think they have a different food truck come by weekly.

I've been to Jagged Mountain a few times now and I still haven't formed a solid opinion. I like the overall theme, but the space itself is a tad cavernous. The employees are friendly enough, but not terribly personable, really. The beers are pretty good, but not a single cravable one (for me). The Imlay IPA is nice (lighter, citrusy side of IPAs) and I also like the Zero Gravity Saison for something a bit more sessionable. The Barking Marmot (black IPA) is good, but doesn't have that toasty, maltiness that can serve as a gateway beer for those who are less than enthusiastic about IPAs. With their proximity to Coors Field, I'm sure they won't be hurting for business in the summer months. They also have a TON of tap handles so I'm hoping they'll release some exciting/surprising varieties that will make for a worthwhile trip. Also, a yoga studio is about to open across the street. That could make for a fun combo!

UPDATE: I'm updating my review but the 3-star rating stays. I've been here 4 or 5 times now and I simply don't enjoy the beer. The Dreamweaver Double IPA is the only one that is ok, and it's just that-"ok." I have been here on different occasions with 5 friends, all who love beer and frequent many other local breweries; all 5 agree with me on Jagged Mountain. Sorry. I really, really want to like this place. It's close to home, and the tap room is nice. However...I just don't think the beers are very good. Granted, I haven't tried all of them, as I've only been there twice and they haven't had everything available each time. But of the 4-5 I've had, sadly I'm not impressed. I'm finding this to be a trend with many of the new breweries: there are so many out there that lots of them are just mediocre. The saison was one of the weakest, most watery-tasting saisons I've had. In fact, that's the issue I have with all of their beers--they just aren't very flavorful. I know they are new, so I'll give them a try again in the near future. Hopefully things will improve, as I'd love to have another good beer spot to add to my weekly rotation. Also, I am not happy that they have tv's. There are PLENTY of sports bars in the area, and when I go to a tap room I go to enjoy a couple beers and have a conversation. I DON'T want to constantly be subjected to "OHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!" and other outbursts from sports fans who need to shout out when a good/bad play happens.

Yeah, another local brewery!!! This is in a nice location - Arapahoe and 20th, windows along both sides, nice long tables. Nice history on the bar and the tables and how it all come to be! The beer is tasty, nice range of types and alcohol content! They seems to have some basics and some other ones that rotate. The have only been open since early november, so i'm sure things are still being owkred out. They do seems to have a nice rotation of food trucks, and friends staff!

What can I say about a close downtown brewery other than hell yes! I've now had the pleasure of coming here twice and am becoming increasingly impressed by the greatness of this little local brewery! My 1st occasion was on opening day and the overwhelming presence of people put me a little off. That being said, the beers were delicious and the actual space looked really hip and trendy, but the claustrophobic factor was through the roof. At that point, I decided to come back a month later so I could actually enjoy my experience, so when I returned last weekend I definitely was not disappointed! I was able to sidle up the bar with my gal and enjoy some great beers along with some good convo with the local beer dudes. The ambiance is very inviting and the beers, mostly high gravity, gave the kick I needed and really enjoyed! The music was great, the bartender was very friendly and the beers were delicious what can be better? One little deterrent is the beers are priced a little high for the local brew scene at $6 a beer, but what's $1 when the convenience of being right down the street is there. I say if you're in the area make sure you stop on by and enjoy!

I thought I would enjoy this place based off of reviews I had seen on Yelp, but I was not nearly impressed as I had hoped. The beer was okay, I did not find it memorable. I got their higher ABV saison, which they described as having hints of mango and kumquat to it. The closest taste I could discern was..... black beans?! Obviously a career in beer tasting is not in my future, but I thought the beer had an interesting flavor to it. I wouldn't describe it as necessarily good or bad- interesting, yet average. Sort of pricey at $6 for a 16 or 8 oz beer (depends on beer). I really like places where you can wander in by yourself and still have a great time; this was not one of them. The bartenders were fine as far as service is concerned, but definitely did not go out of the way to engage you in conversation. For some people this might be a good thing, but I personally like to meet different groups of people when I go out for a beer! Didn't find that here, in the employees or the fellow patrons. I think this brewery definitely caters to the Lodo crowd-- as it should, given its location. But for me, I don't know if I will be rushing back.

This rating is based on the two, and only two, beers I had. Four of the menu options were blown the evening prior - and three of those sounded right up my alley. As such, and not liking Belgians, I had the Imlay IPA and Acute Malted Scottish Ale. The Imlay had a magnificent nose. I was concerned given how cloudy the beer was, but our server ensured that was intentional. I excitedly sipped it to be nothing but disappointed. My experience matched some reviews I read about the Imlay that its nose was bountiful and its taste little to nothing. That was my experience too. I struggled to finish it. The Scottish Ale I found to be rather traditional and representative of the style. It was think to work through the entire taster, but I did it. I may have to try Jagged Mountain again in the future, but with the number of breweries out there, it's getting harder to want to give more and more chances to places that don't impress up front. Sure, I only tried 2 beers, but the two styles available that I like didn't leave a favorable impression on me. Beer aside, the venue is nice with ample seating. Service was slower than preferred. Another upshot of the craft beer explosion: there's something for everyone, and as you can tell by the reviews, people like Jagged Mountain.

Cute gals serving the beer who know the brews offered here. As for the beer.. The Kolsh is right on. The regular saison is good. The pale ale is good. Thr IPA is off for my buds. The brown isn't brown, but OK. The porter is only 3.8% ABV and pretty good! Couple of good sesh beers here, and cute bartenders!

Hubby and I really liked this place. We didn't know it at the time, but Saturday was their grand opening. The brewery has huge windows, long tables, games and a very cool vibe. We stayed downtown and were doing a pub crawl. We literally walked by this place and decided to come in. Had a Saison beer. Will be back. Great beer, very inviting place. Had we not already agreed to one beer per stop, we would have remained here and tried other beers. Very comfortable place. Will be back soon.

The newest brewery in town starts off on the right foot! The BF and I ventured into Five Points on Friday to check out the latest addition to the neighborhood. For only being open one week, Jagged Mountain is hopping. Only 5 or 6 beers on tap for now, but more to come in the near future. The space is huge, and located right on the corner of 20th and Lawrence. A bit loud for my taste, but for a brewery the noise level is probably average. Space looks and feels industrial, with high ceilings showing the duct work, concrete floors and an L shaped bar in the center. Jagged Mountain is planning on offering high alcohol content beers; there's even talk of a 20% at some point (that might be too potent for me). The saison I had (4%) was quite tasty and I sucked it down in no time. The space is large, the beers are flowing, the crowd is 25-40 something, the concept is great, and who doesn't love a good beer with good company. Jagged Mountain has already partnered with the local food trucks to fill our tummy's so we can continue drinking all night long. While we were there we saw that Marco's delivered which is a huge bonus. Welcome to Five Points Jagged Mountain, we hope you stay a long time.

Tasty beers. Minus 1 star for having TVs. Brewery tap rooms aren't sports bars. Want to watch sports, go to blake st. Tavern, great beer selection. Want to enjoy good beer and be surrounded by people who enjoy good beer, this isn't a bad place to do it.

I was impressed with the ambiance and large amount of space for tables. It is nice not to be crammed in. The place is a bit loud, like most other craft brewery tasting rooms, but the ample space made up for the noise. They had just opened so they only had 4 beers in the menu. I tried their IPA which was very rich in flavour somewhere around 6-7 ABV and very easy drinking. The staff was quite nice as well. Great addition to the neighborhood

Middle of the road beers I ve been to over 250 micro breweries in Colorado and I would have to rate this one in the bottom 250 if not below. Nothing special about any of the beer. Skip this place and go to BJ or old chicahgos instead

Not being from Denver, my opinion might not hold as much weight as the local connoisseurs, but this brewery is awesome! They have a lot of beers to choose from, all delicious. Every IPAs was flavorful and distinct, while the bourbon and wine infused beers are some of the most unique I've had. It's impressive that these guys have joined a saturated market and are still able to impress. The vibe inside the brewery is also pleasant and welcoming. Definitely the kind of place you could chill at for a couple hours.

It's been a while since I stopped in here for a beer for the first time. I remember the beer being quite tasty. I can't remember what I had quite honestly, but I remember it was a citrusy summer-type beer and I'm sure I could have more of it. :) The space is pretty basic, which I don't mind at all. The brewing area is blocked off but visible from the seating area. There were plenty of seats when we went, but I think it would very much be packed as time goes on and people learn about it. They don't serve food here, but there is a food truck that sits outside. It's tricky because they leave the food menus on the table and kind of makes you think they have a kitchen back there. In fact, they are for the food truck. Would be nice though if they had some in-house food. Bottom line is I liked it and would love to go back and try more of their brews.

Not bad at all for a new brewery. The beers were tasty, and all opaque when we stopped in on opening weekend last week. They had already sold out of their limited brews so we tried some saisons and a double black. I didn't see that samplers were available yet, I hope that changes. They already had shirts and 7 or 8 beers on tap and the joint was jumping early evening on a Saturday. Looked like friends and fam of the company was there to celebrate, not the typical brewery or downtown crowd. But, the experience was still good. The employees could use some more training as a keg busted on my bro's pour and they gave him the ass end of a keg in the form of a half pint then were all confused when he asked for a half pour once they swapped the kegs. They also served the same beer two friends ordered in two different glasses and didn't know what the AHA was. But again, it is new so no big deal. I hope their hours complement the downtown scene and the crowd increases in diversity, but time will tell. The location is nice, the space is big and most importantly the beers are good.

Awesome tap room near downtown. Lots of windows and a good stack of board games and cards. And a food truck outside as well. But since the taproom isn't the primary reason I go to a brewery, I have to weigh in on the beer too. Which is unfortunate. Because the beer was lacking. Not that I'm a beer snob by any means, but if you can't compete with the other great breweries nearby, why drink the beer?

Stopped in and the beers were on the short end of the list. They had 4 on rotation and aren't offering Growlers yet while they build up the supply. Also a Food truck was parked out front which obviously they don't mind if you bring it into eat. And the food truck would deliver it to the bar for you. Had a IPA and another beer and a few samplers. Great Customer service and Eye candy. And they have community tables which i like as well. A little odd seeing young children inside though.

Went there for the first time on Saturday afternoon and I really enjoyed this brewery. It's relatively new so it wasn't crowded and they have a variety of beer selections. I tried the First Descent, which is 13.5% ABV, and it was amazing. Instantly one of my favorite beers! I cannot wait to go back and try the Whiskey Barrel aged version of this amazing brew. They do not serve food, but food trucks do park in front for hungry guests. They also will list which food truck is scheduled on their chalkboard menu.

decent, somewhat interesting (blackberry saison, surprisingly good, because it's not too sweet), and some very strong (two over 10% abv) beers. they have food, but i didn't try it. kind of empty, though, for a friday night. that might not be a great sign. probably because of the off the beaten track locale.

One of my top two favorites of all the craft breweries I've been to in Denver. Knowledgeable staff, nice brewery atmos... but most importantly - FANTASTIC beers. The chaps behind this stuff really know what they're doing. A great veggie food truck parks outside on Friday nights, making for the perfect combo, imo.

I really wanted to like Jagged Mountain. It's a cool atmosphere and the service was friendly, but I just didn't care for any of their beers all that much. They definitely lean heavily toward the hoppier end of the spectrum. I understand that a lot of people like that, but to me it's an annoying trend. I thought I would enjoy their saisons, but neither of the two they had on tap when I visited were anything special. Update: I recently went back to Jagged Mountain to give them another try. They had a couple beers that were OK, but the vast majority of their beers have very high IBUs (translation: very hoppy). So clearly this was not just a one-time deal. There are plenty of great breweries in Denver, so I really see no reason to go back. Oh well. (By the way, be very careful about where you park. Lawrence Street is a tow-away zone but is very poorly marked. I got an expensive ticket when I parked there during my first visit. That's not the brewery's fault, but I don't want it to happen to you if you decide to go there.)

Cool place.Chilll atmosphere. Not crowded. Wandered in here due to the proximity to my hotel. What an unexpected treat! Very nice/knowledgeable beertenders. Had a bluegrass band and food cart. I came in 10 minutes before closing, but they didnt rush me.Had the BARKING MARMOT /ABV: 7.0 / IBU: 59 / STYLE: BELGO-AMERICAN BLACK IPA. Really enjoyed, must go back due to no time for more before last call, but very enjoyable, if short ,experience.

I am here on opening "official" night. This place is EXCELLENT. Very tentative staff, and this beer is well developed for a beginning brewery. Rumor has it, the head brewer has previously worked at a big brewery in Michigan as well as a local Colorado Brewery, so he's done his homework. This was a great experience. You can bring or order food, play a board game, and take advantage of the ample seating. They specialize in high alcohol beers, so be careful... Or bring a DD ; ) Seriously. Go to here.

This was a great discovery I didn't expect. I came on a Thursday night and it was packed wall-to-wall with people. It's a pretty big space so it didn't feel like too much but it had great energy. I really loved the feeling of the place. I had a few different types of beers although none of them would be classified as my favorites, all of them were pretty good beers! They also have games so if you're looking for something to add to your conversation and beer then you have that, too. No TV's- bonus points! ;)

I tried several Jagged Mountain brews, about one week after I tried all of the beers at Great Divide (just tasting - not binge drinking!). I have to say that even though Great Divide is well-established and Jagged Mountain is brand new, I liked the Jagged Mtn beers much better. I loved the First Descent. I actually craved it after we left, and we brought friends with us the next week so they could try. It's so delicious, has a wonderful color and is deceptively lightweight on the tongue. Plus it's 13%, and I saw on their website it was voted a top 20 beer in Colorado. I also tried the Imlay, Red Point, and Zero Gravity, and those were all better than every beer I tried at Great Divide. I make the comparison because I just moved to Colorado 4 months ago and I don't get why some crappy CO beers are promoted so heavily when there's a lot better stuff here. Oh, they also have board games at the bar (incl Cards Ag. Humanity) which is nice.

In the brewery menagerie that is Denver put Jagged Mountain on the list. It's certainly worth a try, I stopped by Jagged Mountain this past Sunday and was able to sample most of what was on tap. I thought the beer was spot on for the most part. They were offering two Saisons when I was in there and both were done well and portrayed the style in which they were to represent well. I was particularly impressed with the Red Point IPA that was being offered. Emily T. below called their beer 'thin'. I know we all have our own palate but I see that hard to imagine based on what I drank but different strokes I suppose. I enjoyed the food truck that was out front as well. :) Gotta love brewery culture, right? Enjoy yourselves out there and keep it local!

Opening day, I was there. I had to see the brewery that had gone into a space I'd been eyeing for a long time. These transplants from the Mitten will be a good addition to the Dtown scene once they dial it in. They pushed their IPA for opening, though, and that was a mistake. Not everyone is going into this blind -- when you see a beer that's not a deliberate Hefeweizen yeast fest and it looks like a glass of grapefruit juice, you know something is wrong. When you hear the brewer tell you that he closed his eyes and it "tasted right," you wonder what else he's drinking. Or smoking. Goodness people, Ernest and Julio had it right -- they would sell no wine before it's time. The same is true for beer. Don't put out an inferior product on OPENING DAY. It invites all kinds of commentary, not to mention places the "experience" of the owners in a questionable light. That chill haze is NOT cool. But now that I have that out of the way -- I loved their Double IPA. It was big and citrusy and way too easy to drink. I wanted to down at least 3 of those 10 oz pours, but I would've needed someone to carry me home. One of the best doubles I've had in Denver, hands down. Soft on the palate, not too cloying, carbonation was right on. I've little doubt Jagged Mountain will continue to hone their craft and their location makes what can be a sketchy little corner of downtown a little less sketchy. I'm anxious to go back and try them again - and I pray I don't get handed a pint of chalk water and told to just "go ahead and taste it." I'll have to respond with Floc(culate) THAT!

Simply put, I love this place. The Beers are great, and the staff even better. They're very friendly and very helpful. I've seen them help out plenty of curious newbies to craft beer, taking time to explain the beers. The brewery continues to create new brews in an ever changing (and expanding) line-up. One of my favorite breweries in Denver and in what I think is a great location.

This is already my favorite downtown hanging-out brewery, as it's more spacious than the Great Divide tap room and not as loud/restaurant-y as Wynkoop. Layout-wise it's pretty similar to Renegade or Denver Beer Co, with lots of long tables and big windows. I had two beers: the first, a black IPA, had more IPA and less black than I would have preferred. I really liked their IPA though--it had good IPA flavor with not too much bitterness and a sweet aftertaste, which makes me think that it would be a good "starter" IPA for people who aren't familiar with the genre. The best thing about the brewery's location, though, is the fact that it's across the street from Pacific Mercantile which has a lot of great beer food, from Asian crackers to inari sushi. It's a pretty good bet that I'll be back soon.

We live near Jagged, and were there for their opening day, and have returned a number of times since. The space is good, if very loud at times (no sound batting on the ceiling resulting in epic echo chamber action when its busy), and can get a bit push and shove if its standing room. The bar is nice, and they routinely have food trucks on a rotation and seem to change that rotation up frequently. The location is spot on (for us) given it's on the same block we live on :) But the beers... So this is the tough part for me. I have been a fan of the brew master's brews from when he was in MI at Kuhnhenn. But here at Jagged, I was expecting something more interesting than what I am seeing. The beers are mostly all coming out with what is best described as a "family" flavor. They mostly all (regardless of style) seem to have a very citrusy hop component. The exception is the First Decent, a brown they had on when they opened, and only a couple others. Family flavors in beer across genres are not always a good thing. I know the brew master has said before he likes IPAs and up front and citrusy hops. But that style of beer is something I can enjoy for a pint, not 2 or more. So my visits there have been reduced to going for the food trucks more than the beer. After seeing such refinement and flavor diversity from breweries like Renegade, Bull and Bush, River North, etc... A family flavor profile marching over the beer styles is just not impressing me at Jagged. Some exceptions to this are the Pale Mild, which is essentially a light ale. Think a fuller bodied Coors. Is a perfect summer drinking beer. The brown they had on tap in the early months of their opening was similar, a true session beer. Their recent tapping of a Tequila Barrel aged Imperial Porter is outstanding, and like the other large beers they have brewed have diverged from the family hop profile of the other beers. This is something closer to what I was expecting from the brewery. This and a few of their other recent beers is what made me put 4 stars vs 3 on this review. Keep up the good work!

We tried the sample and got the following black saison, dark belgian, imperial stout and the pale ale. They were all okay, some of the beers in our opinion were a little flat. I liked the dark belgian the best, rich in flavor and has a good finish, and the bf liked the dark saison. Good atmosphere tho, the bartenders were really nice and there were plenty of seattings.

I stopped by to do a tasting and stayed for a pint. I got a sample of most of there creations, really enjoyed the Imlay. The staff was friendly and was knowledgable about their beer. No food service, but they did have a food truck available outside and let you bring the food in.

Great service and excellent beer. I went on a Saturday and it wasn't crowded. I had a few samplers and then ended up ordering the Vallecito Belgian Dark Strong. It was really good. I loved the convenience of the Churn & Burn food truck out front. Their food was quite yummy. I will be returning for sure!

Missed opening night, but I don't think that would have swayed my opinion. I'm basing my opinion solely on the beer, as the atmosphere is a carbon copy of literally any other microbrewery layout (Bar, wooden tables, T-shirts for sale) though I'm thinking they were inspired by Denver Beer Co. I had two of their higher alcohol brews, which were alright, but I kept tasting a syrupy after-taste. Overall this place is OK, needs to work itself out before it gets 5 stars. I'm sure with time this place will find its groove, and the location is hard to beat. Will be back.

Great beers, and a nice atmosphere. No food served, but food trucks can be found outside until about 9pm. 2-oz tasters are $2 each, beers with an ABV lower than about 8% are $6 for a 16-oz pint, the high-gravity (about 8% and up) beers are served in 10-oz tulips for $8.

I met one of Jagged Mountain's owners, Wayne, the head brewer, at a beer event. I had never been to the tap room or tried his beers, and he's the reason I decided to go in. He had told me about the beers they offer, and answered my questions about the brewery. Because Denver has so many breweries, I need a reason to choose one over the other. And most often it's the people behind the beer that make me a fan or not. And the beer itself didn't disappoint either! Love this place and its people.

With other breweries in the immediate area like Epic & Great Divide plus other places in town like Prost & DBC - I would avoid Jagged Mtn. One of the 2 Bartenders was a TOTAL pill (the other one was nice & friendly) and beer was ok but not great. Interior was cool- tables and bar were accessible, open & made for good ambience -but great beer is a must in my book- the IPA was more of an APA- We would have been better off in Golden at Mountain Toad or Cannonball Creek where beer is exceptional AND they have good food via best local food trucks.

I went to Jagged Mountain a week after they opened, and enjoyed a flight of everything they had to offer, and all I can say is this was a very good brewery that I cannot wait to visit again. The beers were all very unique interpretations of classical styles but they still managed to stay true to they style. Unfortunately they were out of their small batch beers but all that means is I have another reason to make another visit. This place is a great addition to the Denver beer scene and I would highly recommend it to any fan of craft beer.

  • B D.

Expensive compared to other breweries. The staff was cool, but not overly so. The atmosphere isn't particularly exciting. It wasn't jam-packed like Great Divide always is. The lack of activity makes the place seem empty and dead. Though they have exciting and creative beers, the one I had wasn't executed well. I so wanted to like this place, but I probably wouldn't go back.

Been here several times over the last year. It's never too busy, even on a Friday night. The quality of the beer has improved immeasurably as they figure out what they want to do. The space is amazing and the staff is always friendly.

    (4)
  • Ashley B.

Bartenders are great, especially Karl. The fact that they are dog friendly is AMAZING. The beer is tastey and the crow is generally a nice mellow, but fun group. Totally recommend for after-work happy hour or a chill Friday night.

Meh. Beer was okay, but mostly tasted the same. Over priced for a flight and bartenders are kind of rude, when they're not ignoring you.

Friendly staff. Great location. Great beer. I just wish they had some TVs so I can catch a game.

Good atmosphere, standard beer tasting room vibe (fun, clean, like a Viking hall). Saisons are very smooth, loved the Barking Marmot. The old ales are unique. Wow. Try one, just to try it. Not sure I'll buy it many more times but glad I tried it.

Fun place! Love the big windows. Very cool how the bar is made from recycled barnwood and how the beautiful mountain photos decorating the walls were taken by the owners. AND the beer is spectacular. Many have a complex mixture of aromas reminiscent of a fine wine. Check this place out!
