The food is meh, the drinks are expensive (I've also gotten up charged a couple of times on my bill), but the worst part is the service. I just can't stand bitchy waitresses with an attitude. I came the day after saint Patrick's day and that was the biggest mistake! Our server (also was the bartender) admitted to being hungover but that's no excuse for being a shitty person. Even though I live and work super close to this place, I'm not going back.

Meh is right. 1st of all it's a free for all on the tables, so we jumped on a table that had recently been vacated. Apparently that was also a signal that maybe we were those people and just finishing our drinks...so after 10 mins I flagged someone down to even get a menu and the table cleared. The place was SO LOUD! I could hardly hear anything and felt like I had to scream to speak to anyone. The food, my husband loved his, but I got chicken pieces, which tasted like fish, which tasted like the onion rings, which tasted like the fries and fried pickles and whatever else they also fried. But the chicken meat was lean and trimmed, but the fish flavor was a bit much. Prices were okay, but it's not one of the best food places I've been too even for bar food.

I am pretty much basing this review on atmosphere. I have always wanted to check this place out and finally did. Parking was a little tough but its cherry creek. Loved the vibe/atmosphere here. Just had a few beers so cannot comment on the food--maybe next time. Anyway cool place to grab a brew and kick back with friends.

Not to bad, a local neighborhood bar down the street from us. Haha, really like a block. The food is pretty good bar fair. They have a decent burger and I like the fish n chips. Plus they have Strongbow on tap. Service can be a little hit or miss sometimes. But overall it's nice little spot, close to the house. Good place to watch a game or grab a few drinks with friends.

Their happy hour is not as happy as I would like. Service here can be very hit or miss just as in any bar or restaurant. The main appeal of this place to me certainly is not the food, deals, or service. Location, interior vibe, and atmosphere are the main appeal. It is located half way between work and home (prime for happy hour), it is far enough outside of Cherry Creek North to avoid the pandemonium of the Cherry Creek bustle and parking, as well as the typical stuffy demographic and patrons of Cherry Creek North. Although, not marketing itself as a gastro pub, it certainly falls short in providing stellar if not adequate food. For instance, the arrival of the French onion soup that a friend ordered brought a concentrated scent of Italian dressing on arrival. With a layer of vinegar atop the clump of cheese, my friend was unable to take more than two bites. After passing it around the table for a taker, which there was none, we informed the waitress who didn't understand our qualms with the dish and asked "so what? You want something else" not even offering to comp the bowl of dressing. The Irish Hound was one of the first bars I've seen in Denver with a bubble hockey game, but much to my dismay it was missing one of the goalies, which is enough in itself to take away a star for getting my hopes up, but that just wouldn't be fair.

I always forget this place is here, but when I remember to go, I enjoy it. I went this past Sundayafternoon because I had been craving Guiness. I knew their Guiness would taste fresh and not bitter--I was not disappointed. The bartender poured me the perfect Guiness, leaving it to sit 3/4 of the way through the pour, then finishing it off. Yum! We also enjoyed a few Jameson shots. I was disappointed because I like to share a shot with my bartender. Not just one, but all three bartenders said they didn't drink. Is it a corporate policy that they are not allowed to have a drink on the job, or just some odd coincidence? They were all friendly, so I don't think it was my friend and me that they didn't want to drink with. All in all a nice place, but why do I always forget about it???

Ended up here Sunday afternoon for a relaxing drink after a day by the pool. Nice patio, good vibe, kind waitstaff. The food was unremarkable. My ahi sandwich was cooked almost to the point of well done - not seared as I had expected. The taste wasn't bad though. Good fries, especially with the horseradish cream! (though I wish it was a bit spicier!) They mostly have the basic pub food on the menu, though there are a few more unique choices - but still nothing you haven't heard of before. Not sure about the happy hours or anything, but it would deff be worth heading back for if they have one!

Damn you Irish bars of Denver. YOU SUCK!!!!!! I should put Irish in quotes. Yes, I will do that from now on until someone can tell me where to go. This place is your typical Cherry Creek bar with dark wood. They have Guinness on tap! Wow. Big Whooppee!!!! And a "Irish Pub" with no boxty is no Irish Pub. Fish n Chips on your menu does not mean you are an "Irish Pub." And your Black Velvet was weak. Ugh. If it wasn't for my friend wanting to go here I probably would've never visited. Wasn't there an awesome Chinese restaurant here ten years ago? Now that place was awesome. Seems to me that the Cherry Cricket is still the only place that is good in this entire neighborhood. But I haven't been there in years. Am I turning into one of those old dudes that says "in my days..........." Oh well, at least I was with friends.

We came here by way of Argyll Gastro pub & Bull & Bush being closed. I'm glad they were, this place had a pretty bangin late night happy hour especially for Cherry Creek. Came in around 1030pm order a couple $3 horgaardens. There were all kindsa $3.50 happy hour snackies and all drafts were $3. I liked the booths and other-side-of-the-pondy atmosphere. They have arcade style hoops for b-ball shootin which rules. I got a kobe burger which was quite tasty and the fries were mega scrummy. The service was what was the best however the bartender was very prompt and we were never left needing anything.

Hmm... maybe they've resolved the service issue that others have had trouble with? Service was just fine when we stopped by for dinner around happy hour time tonight. And they even had a big private party they were tending to in the back room. All in all, the Irish Hound is everything I've come to expect from the Little Pub Co. bars. Solid food, good beer specials and a laid back atmosphere. Great patio too, for when it's not -4 outside. I'll definitely be stopping by more frequently when I'm in the Cherry Creek area.

We joined some fellow tweeter's here on sat night. We arrived at 7pm and there was still plenty of seating, woohoo! The bouncer was more interested in what was going on on his computer, and i guess we looked old, so we were just ushered in. There is a "sit where you want policy" - that's cool, as long as you know that's how it works... It is a local pub so families with children think it's ok to bring their little ones and allow them to run around and play. Sigh. We ended up with a largish group and started to move tables - FYI - DO NOT DO THAT. Ask the non existent wait staff for help with that! We ended up with the table the long way instead a big block which was our intention. It worked out ok. The shorter male bar tender rocks. He's on top of things, friendly, and helpful. The bald fella and the gal on sat night seemed to be simply annoyed that we had chosen their establishment to spend our money. So - per the rest of the reviewers - yes the service is indeed horrible! The people that had been there before, at the table, agreed, but said the food was worth it. Hmmm... Too many fabulous places in town for me to put up with crap service. I did the tuna steak sandwich - pretty tasty! Hubby did the burger and said it was pretty good. The fella across the table went with the Philly cheese steak and said it was amazing - "but be sure to order it without the peppers". The onions rings were pretty good. And hubby LOVED the potato chips! Getting a second beverage be it alcoholic or water was pretty hard. Getting the check was tricky. And crossing the bald guy when he makes your drinks the way you don't want - ohhh.... just don't go there. All in all, good for groups, food was decent, but i do not think i shall be returning.

The potato chips are as good as other yelpers say and it's solid pub food. I love the neighborhood local bar feel, our server was very attentive and friendly, and the ambiance is great. My husband was disappointed in the beer selection on draft but it isn't terrible-just not great. Overall, I liked this place and will be sure to visit again!

The Irish Hound is very spacious, so I like that about it. No rubbing elbows with strangers is always a plus. Some great local beers on tap at an average price. Not cheap, but certainly not overpriced. I guess I don't have much to say about this bar, it was kind of MEH. Would give it 2 stars based on all of the above BUT it gets 3 because it has... SKEE BALL!!!!!! I love that game. A quarter a play. Totally worth it.

I was only here three times and they were all quick stop ins. This bar has extremely friendly bartenders. They make you feel at home even though I was from another state. This bar had good atmosphere. The specials are good. The beer selection is decent. I would love to have a bar like this where I live.

We came in last Friday night to meet with friends for a few much-needed end of the week cocktails. I was pleasantly surprised when I "jokingly" asked for a stiff drink, and the bartender ACTUALLY poured me a stiff drink! Also, my husband was thrilled to find out that they offer Strongbow on tap. We hardly ever find cider on tap in Denver, so that was certainly a pleasant surprise. We didn't order any food, so I can't comment on that. However, the bartending staff was attentive and we were never without a drink in our hands. Not a bad way to spend a Friday evening!

If you didn't know already, this is the place for Baltimore Ravens fans. And next Sunday's match against the Steelers promises to be packed. I got a free meal today. Apparently my friend felt sorry that my team took a massive beating courtesy of the Ravens. I ordered the turkey melt which needed some more "melt". Bacon and turkey tasted good, same with the melt, but it was a bit uneven. Fries were nice and crunchy which is how I like them. The waitstaff was on top of things, ready for latecomers (me), and always ready for the free flowing shots and beers being poured.

As I walked in and Whodini 'Friends' was playing, I knew I was at the right place. I was just in for a quick bite right before the kitchen closed and they were happy to accommodate. Luckily, happy hour was finished when the kitchen closed, so I had 5 minutes to get my food and drink order in on time. Murphy the Bartender was happy to provide, and I was pleasantly surprised to find cabbage and corned beef egg rolls on the appetizer menu! They definitely hit the spot and will bring me back for more soon.

OK so the service was pretty good...I just didnt like how they went about it with a different person coming to your table every time. We ordered fish and chips and apparently the order didn't go through and we waited almost an HOUR for our food....and 30 minutes before anyone came to our table to check on us. When we got the food it was the most gawd awful fish and chips I've ever had! It left a terrible fishy taste in our mouths.... fries were pretty good though

This is an excellent place for Happy Hour. The specials are always good, the apps RAWK, and lastly and maybe most importantly they have FUEL TV!!! Anytime I can get a Smithwick's while checking out skate boarding I am stoked. Yay for the Irish Hound! The only reason I am giving it less than 5 stars? The parking situation is very bad. Beware of the parking signs or you will end up with a ticket.

Not a huge fan. The food was pretty good, but the service? Why would you only staff one person serving and tending bar??? My group and I literally had to flag the guy down when we saw him because he would disappear for a long period of time. It's not the poor guy's fault, he was running around like crazy. I'll try to come back when it's not trivia night and see if the service is any better. And even though I think the food is good and I like the interiors, I'd prefer to go to the Snug which is NOT one of my favorites.

Went on a Friday for a meeting / happy hour. I only had beer. Irish Hound has beer. Beer is good. Ergo, Irish Hound is good. The service was attentive and the atmosphere friendly. A little noisy and a bit far from the old suburbia homestead, but I would recommend it to someone looking for a casual hang-out.

Disclaimer - I went on a Tuesday. However, the bartender, yes there was only one, was awesome! He poured a drink exactly the way I wanted. He was more than accommodating and pleasant. The high-backed wooden booths are amazingly set against dark paneled walls. The seats at the bar are rockin too! A friend of mine ordered some food and it came fast. It looked delicious. I wish I wouldn't have stopped for pizza. I can't forget to mention - they have Foosball, bubble hokey from the 80's that is only a quarter to play, basketball and more. This place is a great place to eat, drink and be merry. I think its time to give this place a positive review.

I won't even start about how crappy the sound was in there for GWD! It was ridiculous! This is not my reasoning for 2 stars, but it certainly didn't help them. I have been here before during a non-trivia evening and I still got "meh". Service, not so much. Our waiter wasn't with it. We don't ask for much and yet we were still not satisfied. The ticket was jacked and tried charging more for items than listed. So uncool. Food, I have had much better at crummier bars. Chances are we won't see each other again.

I have been known to annoy some of my California friends with my tales of Denver and its proliferation of happy hours. It's like my version of urban legend: talking about how bars in my beloved former Mile High town have awesome specials ALL THE TIME so I'm allowed to get snapped when some San Francisco bar wants to charge me $8 for a beer at 6pm. So when four of us flew out from SF and rolled into the Irish Hound at 11pm, how vindicated did I feel to see a sign announcing a late night happy hour?!? The girls and I threw back beers and snacks galore for about $6 apiece. I could probably do with a larger beer selection (because I am a beer snob and love me some Colorado microbrews), and pub grub is notoriously not geared toward vegetarians, but hey, the price is right! The giant wooden booths are cozy for a medium size group, and you can play pool at one of the tables in the back to work off whatever deep friend appie you chose.

This is a great place for an afternoon beer. It's never been a "destination" of mine, but for some reason I always end up here on my way home from running errands on the weekends. They have some nice happy hour and brunch drink specials (on sat/sun) and their appetizers are reasonably priced and delicious. The inside ambiance is cool with very under lit booths and wood paneling throughout. If you're not into the dark pub thing you can always step out front to enjoy the sunny patio.

Quizmaster: "*mumble, mumble... Cambodia... mumble, mumble... Angelina... mumble, mumble" Satan Gave Me A Taco: "What did he say? I can't hear a thing" Yep that's pretty much how the night went. This isn't the first time we've experience a bad sound system. Casey's Bistro was bad (read review here: yelp.com/biz/caseys-bist… ), but this place was much worse. I arrived an hour early to snag a table for our team(s) and when I got there the place was packed. I don't think any of us realize that Monday nights might not be the best for trivia during football season due to Monday Night Football. I got the only booth available and saw two tables next to it that my fellow teams could sit at. It was a good thing I didn't sit there first, because a group of four had been moved because their was some sort of graduation party that took over. Not knowing what to do, I remained in my seat until I saw some familiar faces. By pure chance, we ended up getting two booths near each other as well as a table. Before our team moved closer to the others, we made an attempt to hear the quizmaster over the party noise and horrible sound system, but when that didn't work. We moved to the booth that emptied, just in time. However that didn't help one bit. We still struggled to hear what was being said. Audio clips were the worse. If it had just been myself and my team, I might have just said, let's go and not played that night. That's how bad it was. In addition to the horrible sound system, the service was not good either. It took quite awhile to get drinks for our table. They were swift with sneaky pick ups of empty bottles and glasses, but wouldn't stick around to get us another. There were only two people tending too all these people. A big problem with most of these bars. They want the business, but fail to get enough people to work on trivia nights. Doesn't make sense. It's things like this that make people not want to return. Which is where I stand with this place. There wasn't anything impressive about the place or unique to want me to go back to on trivia nights. On any other night, I might be convinced to go back, try some food and have some more drinks, but again, never for trivia.

I like this place cause of the whisky selection, although they didn't have any Talisker the last time I was there. It's super white bread, but generally friendly. The waitresses usually have a little attitude, but that's part of the charm. The beer on tap tends to all have that musty tap taste, and the bartenders here couldn't make a black and tan to save their life. Other than that, the place is usually hopping and the patio rocks (until they shoo everyone off around 10p to satisfy the neighbors). I hit this joint maybe every few months, cause it's a fun change of pace and I can walk to it from my house... and stumble home.

Love it. This is a great little Irish bar with a great atmosphere. Outside seating is a plus. They have a good selection of both Scotch and Irish whiskey along with a good selection of beers. Come here for the atmosphere and happy hour.

The Irish Hound is a great post-work watering hole. And by post-work, I am referring to 10 or 11 pm, which are the only times I've actually been to the hound. Considering as it's three blocks from where I work, the convenience factor is unmatched. The late night happy hour is great, and the staff is attentive and friendly. They have an amazing beer selection, including strongbow on tap, which is something I haven't seen before. I love the Irish whiskey choices, as I am a sucker for a good Irish whiskey. The atmosphere is mellow and welcoming. There is little to no pretension to be found. In addition to their fantastic liquor choices, they have a pretty typical bar menu, satisfying most alcohol induced cravings. Overall, the Hound is a great bar to grab a casual drink with friends. It's not the hippest bar in town, but it serves it's purpose with a smile and a shot. There are definitely good times to be had at this unassuming little bar.

Have reviewed the Irish hound before never thought it was too bad but realized for the first time when I went there last night They sell fake pints. they had a specials going on for the Alabama game asked for a pint of Stella and they served my beer in a plastic cup. I was like this isn't a pint and the bartender is like its 14oz. That's what we serve. Since when is a pint 14 oz. that is criminal, they leave a inch pour off the top and so you get 12 oz for 5 $. The bartender says that is the corporate policy using 14oz glasses that are fake pint glasses that fool patrons. All 19 bars in this corporate cess pool do this littlepubco.com . This is how the screw people they don't charge less same price as a real pint at any respectable bar. Never going back to this place and never going to any of the other 18 bars.

We went specifically for the special only to discover that the "Wednesday Special" is only available at certain times on Wednesdays. Service was terrible. We ordered drinks then the server went away for a long time. I finally had to flag him down to order food. The food was fine.

This is a solid joint with a nice, little patio out front, shuffleboard and pool and a couple video games and decent drinks. It has the name Irish in it which makes it good, right? ;) I didn't eat here but the service was good and my friends and I had a good time trying to depants one another.

I think this is a great pub to hang out at with friends, drink some beers and have some snacks. I love the ambiance and the decor. My husband loves Irish Wolf hounds, and he just loves going here, there are pictures of Wolf Hounds all over, even on the menu! I love the outdoor patio too in the summer. I haven't really sat down here and ate a meal, we've always just snacked on apps or split a sandwich, but I do recommend the corned beef and cabbage rolls. I ordered these and was expecting corned beef wrapped in cabbage, but they are like egg rolls, and they are soo good!

UPSIDES // Feels like an irish pub in Name-That-Location America. Beers on tap are great, and the beer specials are decent. Service is usually good and on-point. There are about 300 TV's so, it's not too shabby a place to watch a ball game! DOWNSIDES // If you get a frustrated server - watch out!

$3 Strongbows are pretty awesome. Also a big fan of the K-(something Irish sounding) Coconut shot (Irish Cream, Jameson, and coconut liqueor). Chill environment.

Full disclosure, one of the people in my party knew the bartender, so its tough to judge them on service, since we were very well attended. Like the drinks I had. Enjoyed the atmosphere. We went in before dinner at Barolo grill for a couple of drinks and had we not shared a bottle or two of wine at dinner, would have likely stopped back in afterwards. It's not close enough to my hood to make me a regular, but if I'm heading to dinner in the Creek, I might leave a little early to stop by the Hound.

  • Crys A.

I've been here a few times. Is it haute cuisine? No, but that's because it's a pub and not a five star dining establishment. I also hesitate to opine on whether it's "Irish enough" --- I've been to Ireland and so I'd probably say no, but do I really care? Also: no. The Irish Hound is ideally suited for what it's supposed to be -- a place to linger and enjoy drinks, food and good company. And the drinks, in my opinion, are good. I've encountered three, maybe four separate bartenders --- all were great on the pour. There is nice patio space outdoors and indoors it's large enough and comfortable enough to accommodate the neighborhood flow. People have mentioned sub-par service but frankly I don't see it. Each time I've been to the Hound the staff have been great. Very friendly, accommodating, attentive. Also down to earth. That's what you want at a pub; no pretentiousness, just quick on the booze and the grub. I usually stick to the marinated chicken sandwich or the fries. I'm not there to eat a five star meal. What I eat is always good. I like this place, I'm not gonna lie. Wish the parking sitch was better, but alas, you can't have it all.

If there is a better place for wings in the Cherry Creek area, I don't know about it. Their JERK wings are VERY good! I've ordered four weeks in a row! Thanks! Keep it up.

I like the Hound - it's pretty much like the Elm (which is owned by the same folks), but definitely has less of a neighborhood feel than my favorite local haunt. Food is good and solid pub-fare, with few truly "healthy" choices. The staff is great as well. What I love about these restaurants is that every employee serves every table - that's right, ask anyone for a drink and they'll bring it to you, none of this "can you get my waiter." Overall a good joint for a quick bite!

The Irish Hound is a mainstay for Jeff and I. It is a place that is near and dear to our hearts but all that squishy stuff aside it really is a great little pub. I've been here several times over the past year and have yet to be disappointed by the food and drink. They always have a bang up selection of beers to choose from and they carry my favorite Irish whiskey (hearts to red breast). I have to say that their appetizers are great. I've had the hummus plate. I love hummus and this place knows what they're doing! It has really good flavor and the vegetable selection is great. I have also had the Blarney Chips. A fantastic indulgence! I really liked the horseradish sour cream. The salmon club was seasoned really well. I would totally order it again! The bartenders have always been super friendly and knowledgeable about their beers and whiskeys. I have a feeling that there will be many more visits made by Jeff and I!

Came here last night after a kickball game for a few drinks & some food. We all ordered a beer & although our server was pretty slammed, she got our drinks out and orders taken in a timely manner. I ordered a salad that was on special and when it was brought out, the food runner spilled an entire ramekin of balsamic dressing down my shirt and shorts. The real reason I'm writing this is to thank our server/bartender for genuinely trying to fix the situation- she was very polite & apologetic, as was the food runner. These mishaps will always happen in restaurants but many times the attentiveness & courtesy of the wait staff is nonexistent. This was not the case here.

Was there with a bunch of coworkers on St. Patty's day and out of everyone in the group, no one had good things to say about this place. We work in Cherry Creek and we're always looking for new place to try for happy hour. The Irish Hound was by far the worst place we've been to. The service was horrible. I understand that they were busy, and we didn't expect to see our server very often. He had a lot of people to serve. What we expect was him to be courteous when he took our order. I don't remember his name but he was tall and had a beard. He was not listening to what we wanted (ordered doubles, got singles; ordered a beer, got a different beer), he keep forgetting to serve on of the girls at the table and had a very rude attitude when we asked any sort of questions. When more people came to join us and they asked if there are any specials (is was still pretty early in the day), the server responds with "you wanna see a draft list!?" and looked insulted that our friend even considered the possibility of them having any specials on St. Patty's day. Things were a little overpriced for what they were. Some people tried the food and they said it was okay - giving this place an extra star for that. Will not return.

Agree with a lot of other reviews. Service terrible. We stopped in to catch a few games on TV and have a quick drink. We sat at a table and didn't see a server for 20 min. By then we weren't sure we were going to stay (we had dinner already) so we declined drinks for moment. Second server comes by another 20 min later and asks us if we are ok we said sure and she goes "well you can't just sit here, this is a place of business you have to have something." I thought she was kidding but nope. Literally asked us to move. Wow. Games were wrapping up (Alabama alumni bar) place clearing out and she pretty much kicks us out. Was not standing room only or anything. I was appalled! Cute bar decor as traditional Irish pub feel but man, super rude waitstaff. Won't be going back.

I've only been here a couple of times during off hours, but I was pretty happy. Decent food, friendly staff, and plenty of TV's for whatever game you might want to watch. If you like Alabama this is your place. I am not an Alabama fan, actually I don't care either way about the football team, and I'd prefer to avoid the state :) Getting back on the topic, the Irish Hound is a nice neighborhood bar with good beer and bar food.

First time I went, loved it. This time the service was poor and it wasn't even busy. Ordered an appetizer, which wasn't brought out until our meal arrived. The waiter blamed it on the kitchen staff, think he just forgot it. Had to go up to the bar to get a second round, over 30 minutes from our first drink order. Waiter said we wouldn't be charged for appetizer, due to it coming out late, but we were. Didn't leave a tip and not sure if we will be going back. I would rather spend my hard earned money on a place with better service.

If the wings weren't so good and location wasn't so close, I'd never visit this bar. Overpriced. Most food is mediocre at best (except the wings). Service is always OK - not great.

The food wasn't too bad and prior to our last visit, this was a decent place that we liked to go to. Last night however, we had an employee visit our table and bring us beers and took our appetizer order. The beers (and menus) came right back, and that's where the good in this story ends. No one came by in the next 1/2 hour with our appetizer or asked if we were ready to order. After visiting the bar to place my own order, the guy behind the bar remembered we were at a table. The beer came, but our appetizer did not. When the second beer arrived, he mentioned we didn't have our appetizer and walked away without taking our order until we called him back. Then he took our order, said he'd comp the appetizer and left. Within 5 minutes, our food and the appetizer we had ordered way back when we came in arrived. The ruben in our entree order wasn't warm, hastily thrown together and served with unmelted cheese. Again, the young man said he would comp the appetizer. He never checked back to see if we wanted another round or to see if the food was properly prepared. Interestingly enough when we were done with our meal, he was prompt with delivering the check and charging our credit card - without comping our appetizer and without offering any sort of apology. Promptly we paid our tab, left no tip and left. My husband did, however, leave a note on the receipt explaining why he was not getting tipped. We won't be going back.

The bar had an interesting atmosphere and a decent selection of beer. They don't have the Paddy Rolls anymore but their Potstickers are delicious. The Reuben sandwich was perfect, not too overstuffed and not too little. The housemade potato chips were delicious

I sure do miss this place. For years I lived within walking distance (but far enough to drive if it was cold without looking like a complete jerk), and I came here regularly. The other day I was in the neighborhood with some time to kill so I stopped in for a beer. This truly is a neighborhood pub. It's got a fairly good sized bar, a large open front area just inside of the patio, and a big game room in the back. The menu is of course, standard pub grub, but I always felt it was just a little tastier than other places. There's a really good vibe among the patrons and the staff, and service has never been bad here. It's nestled back among some houses and shade, so the place keeps itself under control in the neighborhood. The two cons of the Hound are the patio, which is really small (only about three tables and they are cramped together), and the lack of parking. The street parking requires a permit until 7pm, and be warned, there's a meter maid who walks up and down the street tagging cars with tickets as soon as the occupants walk out of his site, That's obviously not the fault of the bar, but there isn't close convenient parking. Coming in here after being absent for a couple of years, I felt immediately back at home. I keep trying to get back to this area of town, and the Hound is one of my reasons. This is what a neighborhood bar should be. Cheers!

This feels like an Irish pub right when you walk in! They have Epic escape to colorado on tap which I love! Their Jameson is priced well but the Guinness seemed a little expensive. We shared the ploughmans breakfast burger. The description said pork belly. Nothing on it looked like what I know pork belly to be, however the burger had great flavor and was substantial and delicious! Their tomatoes were delicious which I have a hard time finding places with good tomatoes that haven't been mishandled. We also had the Blarney chips which were delicious and a cup of green chili another tasty treat! They have shuffleboard and a pool table and lots of TVs. It's an awesome neighborhood bar!

Why do they always only have one server working?? Don't try and eat here if you want your food in under an hour.

Met a friend who lives nearby... Even though it was a Friday night, the bar was fairly empty and the service was good. The food was great - may I recommend the green chili? Wow! Spicy! I also had a "burger" which I was able to swap out with a chicken breast and it was awesome! (I think veggie burger was also an option) Nice selection of beers on tap. My only complaint is that it was a bit pricey. I think we paid close to $50 for my aforementioned meal, the hubby's fish & chips, and three beers. Ouch.

This is a solid joint with a nice, little patio out front, shuffleboard and pool and a couple video games and decent drinks. It has the name Irish in it which makes it good, right? ;) I didn't eat here but the service was good and my friends and I had a good time trying to depants one another.

This is one of my favorite bars in Denver because it is the closet thing to a neighborhood bar that Denver has to offer. So often are bars surrounded by numerous other establishments, taking away the relaxing nature of what a neighborhood bar should be. Happily, the Irish Hound is tucked away off of 6th Avenue, away from the crowds, the dirty streets and the douche-pocalyspe. This is also one of my favorite places to watch a sporting event, however I'm guessing during college football season you'll be watching Alabama football (it's an Alabama bar). However, the sound is always on so you don't have to listen to annoying conversations at the next table. For the World Cup this year, they even had the projector going. And since it's a small place, you become friends with your fellow sports viewers very quickly. My only complain is the beer selection. Given that Denver is the hub of craft beer in the US, I would expect more than two local brews and a couple of well known names. I would like to see a little more experimenting, perhaps supporting some small brewers to help them get their name out. However, that is the only complaint and is a MUST visit on your next search for a bar.

A group of us dropped in for drinks the other night. As such, drinks were what we had, and no food was ordered. The place was not that busy on this particular night and we found a nearby parking spot on the street (it was after 7pm). I appreciate that the place is "dog friendly" and that they keep a water dish right outside the patio area. Indeed, along with the obligatory mints in a bowl near the entrance, they also had dog biscuits, which is a nice touch. The patio is not that big (okay, it is tiny) and most of the chairs are of the flimsy plasticky type. There is also a bench seat running around the perimeter. Our server was attentive and brought drinks rather quickly. My drinks from the bar were a little hit and miss, as my first drink (a vodka soda) contained at least one foreign element (gin?) and perhaps two (was that a mixture of soda and tonic?). The subsequent drink was correctly prepared. As Jeff S. mentioned, this really is a neighborhood pub. As such, it is just a bit run down, but not unpleasantly so. I would be willing to come back and try the food sometime.

I'll be honest I had no idea this place existed. Nestled in the residential area of Cherry Creek, Irish Hound satisfied a craving for a group of six that wanted to continue the Friday evening after a delicious dinner at Izakaya Den. We sat outside on their very small patio (only 4 tables). Service was okay, not outstanding. I stayed consistent with my cranberry and vodka, and they were made appropriately. Others at the table had some mix ups with their orders. I'll agree with a lot of the other Yelpers and say this is a solid neighborhood bar. Their menu is pub like and has the typical fair. Happy Hour runs 3-7 Monday-Friday and offers some good drink deals, I may be back to partake in that.

If I lived in the neighborhood, I'd probably think this place was awesome because it's cozy and has a good vibe. But I don't. Service was TERRIBLE. Parking was a pain. Wouldn't go back.

Darn you Irish Hound.. You used to be a go to spot to grab a beer and some grub.. The last few times I have been here the service has been so poor that during my last visit, we up and left. My friend and I came in to have a few beers and some bar fare.. We took a seat at the bar, we were greeted fairly quickly and the bartender grabbed us a beer. We asked for menus and begin to way our options. Then she disappeared, then came back to start stocking the bar. So Problem? She continued to stock the bar, making 5-7 trips back to get bottles of whine and liquor etc. Never talked to us again.. We had finished our beers and by the time a different gentleman asked if we wanted to order food, we were pretty upset and closed our tab.. Headed down to Cherry Cricket, (were we had exceptional service) and spent our cash there.. Pretty disappointing, being this was one of my favorite bars for years.. and for some reason quality has nose dived.

Living only a couple blocks away, it is very convientant for me and friends to want to go here. The food is really good and I the small patio for a sunny day. But where the hound has lacked for a while and why I do not go as often as I could is the service. I just find myself getting frustrated when everytime I have sat down for a meal I have had to get up and find a server at some point during the visit. I would give it less stars but I do not feel it is fair when it is something that is easy to change, plus like I said earlier the food is really good for bar cuisine.

Gone to the dogs is a strong term but we could go with "gone to the foxes, coyotes, marmot" or some other dog-like animal because in the last two weeks this place re-did their menu and what's left makes you feel like you are actually in a backwoods kitchen in Alabama. Alright, that was a low blow but how can you not make fun of Alabama a little bit? This place used to be the bees knees. Decent draft selection and really good food. The nachos used to be individual big nachos with cheese and all the fixin's (I'm getting into this Alabama thing) on each one. Sandwiches used to be really good (Reuben) and fries were amazing. Fast forward to now (they changed their menu 2 weeks ago) and the nachos quite possibly could have been tostitos all on a plate with a few sprinkles of cheese not melted one bit, two spoonfulls of beans on two chips and some awful awful guacomole. The corned beef aint what your grammy cooked up darlin;' We had four different meals (corned beef, cheeseburger, fish sandwich, and nachos) and all made me wish I was lost in a forest in Alabama. That says a lot.

Not too great. If it was a bar it would be OK. We went for dinner and it was blaise. Don't feel like even wasting time giving it a real review as it did nothing for me. Nice neighborhood but nothing stood out.

Meh. I agree with Yvonne. It seemed crazy to me that this place had (I think) 2 bartenders to serve the whole bar and restaurant, especially considering it was Monday Night Football and Geeks Who Drink trivia. I mean if those aren't 2 drinking groups I don't know what a drinking group is. I normally would have given them 3 stars because I did like the interior and the service was understandable, but I have to give only 2 because of the drink I ordered. I'm fairly sick right now and so I ordered a hot toddy to sooth my throat. I got a glass of hot whiskey and water. I mean sure those are the basic ingredients, but let me tell you without honey and lemon it just tastes bad. Considering it was an Irish Bar I would have thought they could either make it right or tell me they didn't have the ingredients. It's possible I'd go back here, but it wouldn't be my idea.

If there is a better place for wings in the Cherry Creek area, I don't know about it. Their JERK wings are VERY good! I've ordered four weeks in a row! Thanks! Keep it up.

  • Bailey T.

    (2)
  • Andrea P.

I've only been here once, so it's hard to be too in depth on the rating. However, this place gets very high marks because they serve...wait for it...Kilkenny's on nitro! Now, I know Kilkenny's is nowhere near the greatest and most amazing pint on the planet, but it's a pint you heretofore could not get in the US. I love the nitro creaminess and utter smoothitude of this beer. Not earth-shattering, but extremely drinkable. In my case, it just brought back tons of fond memories of living abroad where it is readily available. For those who have had it and searched for it in the US in vain - your search is now over. Oh, and the bar? Nice joint. Great atmosphere, plenty of TV's showing the Avs, cozy. We had fries with seasoning and bleu cheese dressing on the side. Good snack food. We didn't try any "real food" off the menu, though. Our server did forget my pint at one point and had to be reminded several minutes later - no big deal at all. And the patio looked really nice. But we were there after 10pm and they understandably seem to lock the patio doors after a certain hour to appease the residential neighbours. Definitely a diggable joint in the neighborhood.

  • Spaceman S.

If you're in to hair cooked into your food and absolutely pitiful service, this is your place! Our server was so inattentive, we had to ask for menus twice, put in drink orders twice before she brought everybody theirs, and went and grabbed our own food from the kitchen bar after it had been sitting there for 10 minutes without her getting it and bringing it to us. We had to get up and find her to ask for our checks, and 5 minutes later she finally brought them. It is a cool little place inside though, just as an Irish pub should look, and descent tasting blarney chips and wings (if you don't mind fishing out the hair cooked in). Overall though, very disappointing.

Ouch.

OK, if you are an Alabama fan, this is the place to go for sure. While I don't fall into that category, I still like this place to watch a game, especially if its a good SEC game. Even if you're not a huge Bama fan, you can have a good time here. Decent setup with the TVs and the bartenders seem to be on top of things. I was here last about a month ago for the Bama/LSU game (if you're not into college football, this was a pretty big game). Anyway, place was pretty packed, crowd was good, everyone was friendly. There was some crazy lady at the bar that had some type of flag/cape type of accessory that seemed to be very well received. She was standing on top of the bar during breaks, I think there is a special set of rules that apply to her. They have some ipod they played during the commercials that had all of about 4 songs (Dixieland Delight, Sweet Home Alabama, etc). Despite the fact that there were only 4 songs, the crowd was visibly excited each time the same song came on....again and again. If you have any houndstooth inspired clothing, feel free to wear it here on any giving Saturday in the fall...you will fit in perfectly. If you are an anti-Tide fan, I would probably steer clear of this place. Unfortunately for me, some short little Tennessee fan decided to find me and start talking to me about how good they are and their record did not reflect their real ability....its good to know that Tennessee fans are annoying where ever the hell they are...

Cheers!

I could not believe I had never been to this bar. I have lived all over the city and passed this place hundreds of times. I had no idea what was beyond the porch which overlooks a residential street in cherry creek. What I do know is, I got a parking ticket for non-residential sticker parking in front of this piece and I don't care how good the drinks are, I won't be back. If I can't park in front of the business I am trying to spend money in, I just can't frequent this business. If you can walk, fine...enjoy. The service was sporadic, but the drinks were good. It is spacious inside. But, there are too many other bars that offer parking and outstanding service to pop in here again.

Met a date at the Irish Hound for happy hour on Saturday and had a great time. This is the third time I've visited and while I've only eaten there once, I've always been happy with the selection and service. The place is bigger than it looks, but I primarily stick to the front area and outside patio. It's definitely worth checking out if you're in the neighborhood.
