Newbie Yelp ELITE Mixer Party? Yes Ma'am! I am just having wayyy too much fun at these Elite events. Anywho, we came to Howl at the Moon for a new to Yelp Elite party last Friday. I had always wanted to try this place out and I'm so glad I was able to go with yelp. I like that the bar is in the basement. It gets really really loud in there. I am from Vegas and I would always go to the Dueling Pianos on the strip. I am so happy we have an equivalent bar in Denver. The musicians were super talented. None of our songs we requested got sung but that's ok. My whiskey ginger made the songs I didn't know tolerable :) OPEN Bar! This is my first event where we had an open bar until 7!! How did I mess that up? I wasn't even driving. I enjoyed my 2 cocktails but now I'm kind of wishing I had just one more to round out my night. I heard the specialty cocktails were delicious. I didn't want to drink anything too sugary because the hangovers are bad. But with open bar, I should've just done it anyway. Especially since the bartender was very quick to inform me at 7:01 that the VIP happy hour was over and he will be charging me full price. That I don't mind it, was just the tone he said it in was just a tad rude. But it's cool, I'll survive. After meeting up with some friends and fellow elitists, I noticed that our server wasn't paying much attention to us. Maybe she was busy. Just because we were there for a party doesn't mean we weren't going to take care of her. I most thoroughly enjoyed all the new elites I met. I got to meet Katie and her husband and this other young lady named Heidi. I have to find and upload the picture from the photo booth we all took so I can show you how much fun we had. I'd like to go back to the venue again as a regular customer. The sound was a little loud so instead of trying to talk, we just ended up getting on the dance floor. I had a great time. Thank you Yelp for another great partayyyyy.

I moved to Denver from Boston last September, and since that day, I have been absolutely heartbroken about leaving Howl at the Moon in the financial district of Beantown. Dueling piano bars are one of the best things about life, as far as I'm concerned. So imagine my complete and utter joy at discovering that the franchise was opening up in downtown Denver (not to mention the fact that it's right next to the Denver Chophouse, so you can get a baller meal and then go sing your face off. Brilliant). My friends and I got tickets for the grand opening celebration, which included free drinks from 7-9 as well as appetizers from said Chophouse. First, I must say, our waiter Danny was FAB. U. LOUS. Howl, don't ever fire him, because he literally made our night. Super attentive and singing along to the songs, even taking a break to dance with us. He was amazing. The drinks he brought us weren't super strong, but we chalked that up to the fact that they were free. Once the free drinks were over, we kept ordering and they did get a bit stronger. The entertainers were fabulous as well. They seemed to know every single song in the book, even busting out 'A Whole New World' from Aladdin. I woke up the next day with laryngitis because I was singing along so aggressively with everything. The vibe in the bar was absolutely electric. The one thing that I was kind of bummed about was that there wasn't a dance floor. At Howl in Boston, there is a separate downstairs club level where you can go and dance your pants off once you get too drunk to behave yourself in the piano bar. I was hoping for the same in Denver, but no dice. It's not enough to knock a star off my review, however. 'Howl at the Moon' is synonymous with amazing dueling pianos. I'm already planning on going back there for their St. Patricks Day bash. If you're in downtown Denver, and are looking for something to do, hit up Howl.

I liked it, I'll be back. I went with a group of people for happy hour. We had a blast. When we first got there, the pianos weren't going yet but there was an appetizer buffet. Our waitress was nice, the drinks were cold though they were out of a few beers. We ordered a few more appetizers off the very limited menu. Pros: Decent bar food The beers I had were good The pianos were fun once they got started Cons: Very limited menu (don't go there hungry) Not fully stocked with draft beers Bathroom attendant (I just don't like paying someone to hand me a paper towel) So yeah, it doesn't have sustainable relationship potential for me because of the limited variety food-wise but it seems good for a random hook up.

Great piano bar. I've been to a few. I'm not sure what the previous reviewers are complaining about. The dualers do a good job of mixing up the music well, and keep the crowd entertained. Plenty of elbow room on a Saturday night (surprising). Service was good. Not sure the bathroom attendant was necessary. Good atmosphere, the air is clean and cool, not stuffy. Looked like the expensive LED stage lights were doing their job, money well spent. Good sound system, low end bass needed some extra oomph, but good all things considered.

This place is ALWAYS so much fun! The singers are so awesome and they play requests, but of course, they play the requests with tips first, so be prepared to tip or wait. If you win a party there, you get free admission (that saves $10 at least), first drink is $1, and each drink from a specific menu after is $3.75/ea for everyone in your party. I have had a couple parties here and everyone enjoys themselves. The staff is always friendly and service is great!

Seriously, what a fun bar! We just stumbled across it one Friday night. When we entered, they told us there was a $10 cover. We barely hesitated for just a second, looking at each other like "hmmm do we pay or leave," before they jumped in with "If you don't want to pay, you can sign this little slip over here." Ummmm, ok. Thanks for saving us $20. The drinks were reasonably priced for a bar like this. There were definitely some parties (birthday?) going on that night. One girl was shamelessly dancing with her butt completely hanging out of her dress. That was pretty entertaining. I'd return for a fun and outside the box night.

A brief recap, we went in June for my sister's 25th birthday. We had a great time, reasonable cover, great eclectic music, yummy punch bowls as my family has informed me. My older sister says the Blue punch bowl is the way to go. However, if you like vodka Sex on the Moon is the way to go. Just a word of caution, these punch bowls are enough for 4 and will set you back $35 a piece. We went back with a bigger group and our parents last night to celebrate my older sister's birthday. Once again the music was great. Fun easy atmosphere, that even the dance challenged like me feel comfortable dancing. They are not a karaoke bar, but with the right tip a guy last night was able to get up and sing a couple songs. I don't know if the music or the people watching is more fun. My family and I love the eclectic mix of people and age groups here. My husband was quick to name this place a mecca of Bachelorette parties. I believe there were at least 5 groups last night. I can see why it's a fun place to have fun and be silly. After two visits I had to improve my review from 4 to 5 stars.

My husband and I had a great night at Howl at the Moon Denver and I'd recommend it to everyone that is ready to sing along and have a great night. The musicians/singers are extremely talented and helped everyone get in the mood and sing along. It was very impressive that besides the piano, they also played other instruments, such as guitar and drums. We had a fun time writing out song requests (adding a tip for the musicians) and singing along. We ordered drinks both at the bar and from our table when a server came by. If in the Denver area, we would definitely be back.

Weightlifting With Drinks Howl At The Moon is the birth child of barroom rascality and live performance entertainment. You can dance to a vast spectrum of musical genres while enjoying a drink from the bar, like Howl At The Moon's signature 86oz bucket of booze. I suggest trying the Rum Runner (Bacardi Superior, Dark Rum, Banana, Blackberry, OJ, Pineapple, Grenadine). It's fantastic! Plus, you can work on your biceps while drinking it! The folks at Howl are also big on Parties and Events. Birthday, Happy Hour, and Bachelor/Bachelorette parties find a readied home here. Table reservations are welcome, too; and, Howl even provides an assortment of Corporate Event Party options. This really is one of the coolest, sleekest dueling piano bars you'll ever set your sights on. Lift your giant 86oz bucket of booze up and share a toast! Here's to Howl At The Moon! Cheers!!

I love this place! If you're looking for a fun night out in Denver than this is a place you must stop. It's a piano bar and they always play/sing the best songs! You can put in a request for a song and they almost always do it. The musicians are so talented and funny as well. There are good drink specials usually and they sell buckets of yummy drinks which are good to share with a group. Make sure you stop by for a great time!

I love this bar! The atmosphere is perfect for a weekend night out with your crew. It is so lively and energetic! The pianists are such good sports and never make you feel like you are bothering them. Plus, they are extremely talented every single time I have gone. They play everything from Top 40 to classics. If you sign up with their email list you will occasionally get coupons or be informed about upcoming events. They have decent drinks, too! I will be back, and soon I am sure!

I had a GREAT time at Howl at the Moon. Usually I hate paying a cover at any bar, but my brother insisted we go to this bar based off the reviews and large bucket drinks. To my surprise, the $7 cover was totally worth it! The band was amazing and they even played the songs I requested! Overall, I was very happy with the bar and can't wait to go back.

I love this place!!! They play music everyone knows so it's easy to sing along and have a great time. The performers make it interesting and get the crowd involved. If you go on Thursday with a college ID you can get unlimited wells for $15. Otherwise I like getting a bucket and 5 people can All share it. One downfall is there is no food here. That would be perfect if you could order bar food. Oh well!

Such a fabulous venue for a fun night out! We came here for their open house and treated to some good appetizers and drinks while enjoying the dueling piano show! The place is underground right across from Coors field. We parked in the pay lot ($10) next to it but there's street parking. If you come here on the weekend, it's easier to park in the lot instead of driving around looking for street parking. Music: we absolutely loved the dueling piano show! The musicians were very talented and played all the requested songs from the audience. It was very lively and entertaining! Some people were there for their bachelorette party and some were there to celebrate their birthdays! Venue: very spacious with 2 bars on each end. There is a dance floor right below the piano stage. Food & drinks: we only ate the appetizers which included Cesar salad, meatballs and ravioli. The ravioli was incredibly creamy and delicious! My friends said the meatballs were pretty good too! The drinks are on the sweet side. But the Mule was very refreshing without being overly sweet! Service: the waitresses were very attentive and friendly. We tried to get a drink before the VIP hour only to get ignored by the bartender on purpose. He turned his back against us right after he served another customer. Then a few minutes later, he informed us that the VIP hour was over and we had to pay regular price for the drinks! I found this hard to believe but it actually happened and it certainly left a bad taste in our mouths especially after a fun night! Overall, this is a great venue for holding a birthday party, bachelorette party or any occasion that calls for good music!!

I had a really great time at Howl at the Moon! We stopped in on a Wednesday night- a little early because we just hung around the bar until they started around 8:40PM. No cover charge (I don't think that many people go out on a Wednesday night, at least not to here). Over the night, there were perhaps about 4 groups, including 2 bachelorette parties and 1 birthday party. Even then, our group was the most involved. If you've never been to a dueling piano bar, here's how it works: you'll find request sheets on the table and you fill it out. If you want them to sing it, you fold it over AT LEAST $1. (No $=they likely won't play it unless it's a super slow night?) Then the piano players (who also will play the drums if the song calls for it, which really goes to show how talented these people are) will pick and choose to make the night's choices flow and entertain people. There's a good sized dance floor- literally all girls in the place started dancing when they played the Cupid Shuffle but it got good use over the entire night. Tip: Go with a big, friendly group and be prepared to think of good songs for them to play/sing and for YOU to sing along/dance. We had a good time throughout the night until we had to call it quits due to our 8AM training the following day. Drinks: I've read a few reviews saying that the drinks are strong but they're... really not? I left the place sober (not even buzzed) after having the 'bone' drink of AMF, a --- mule (they called it something different, I dunno) and at least two shots. (Also if you want the copper mug for the moscow mule they'll take your ID to ensure you don't walk away with it? Ok, not something I'm used to). My friend (although she's also of Irish origins so maybe that's why) had some 8 shots and didn't even get buzzed. (The shots that we had were all delicious though). Overall, I had a really really great time. I like this piano bar more than the one I've been to in SF, which makes me sad that Howl at the Moon is not in the Bay Area. Would definitely bring friends over if we ever come back to Denver! Solid 4/5.

This was my first time at Howl at the Moon, and Im glad I went. I was invited to an all inclusive private open house event. I was able to try many of their drinks that were very good, so good in fact, that I forgot that I was drinking alcohol. The have drinks called "fruit roll up" and "pink paradise" that went down so smooth, it was dangerous. They had a mini buffet set up that had cheese ravioli and spicy meatballs and caprese skewers , along with little mini dessert cakes. Later on in the evening, a duo of piano players tried their hand at playing requested songs, some good, some bad, but it was all in the spirit of fun. This is a good place to go after a Rockies game, since it across the street from Coors Field, or to go after work on a Friday night and hang out.

What a disappointment. 10 women from out of town looking for a fun night. To begin our 3 tables were in 2 servers' zones. Which meant different checks at the end of the night. One group check was $50 a head, the other $85? The servers were awesome, sand, danced, the only bright spot of the night. Shitty food. One plate of wings over done and another undercooked. The entertainers didn't know the words of songs they sang! It's a freakin' PIANO BAR! Are you kidding?? Dueling pianos? NOT. They must not know what that means. Bottom line-expensive and singers lack skill.

They do a good job at playing a mix of classic piano bar tunes and contemporary pop music. This crowd is pretty young compared to any other piano bar I've ever been to, and we felt a bit old. Still, we had fun, and lots of people danced the whole night. They have good (bit expensive!) drinks, and they do offer a small menu of snacks. We ate a cheese flatbread (small pizza) and some tater tots with cheese sauce. When it gets late and busy, it's hard to find a server and you may have to go get your drinks from the bar or flag someone down if you're looking for food. We've been there twice now, and both times, it was fun! We'll definitely go back.

Not a dueling piano bar, as some have pointed out. It was super crowded the night we went, by mostly people that didn't even seem to be old enough to be in there. One of the piano players can't sing. She was lacking in pitch. The crowd was the most entertaining part of the evening. Fun to laugh at all the underage drunks. I think the door person needs to do a better job at recognizing fake IDs. Over all, it was a waste of the $7 cover, which is ridiculous. The drinks are over priced, so altogether it was highway robbery!

Great time last week at Howl at the Moon. It was pretty dead on the Wednesday night but it was ladies night and we wanted some fun live music. We decided to stay and had a great time. The musicians are so talented and there were 5 of them that alternated playing the drums and piano. It is amazing how many songs they know how to play, sing all the words and they can play the drums and the piano is impressive. I had forgotten how much fun this place is. I need to come back with a group of friends.

Had so much fun on Halloween night here! The piano players were the highlight I felt. They were talented and kept the crowd pumped! Drinks were good and food was satisfactory for a bar. The meatballs were so yummy!! Staff was friendly...I will definitely be coming back

Not a dance place. There were maybe 20 people there on a Wednesday night. They played a couple songs I could dance to, then the group of 10 ladies left, and apparently they took the party with them. After that, the musicians seemed to think it did not matter what they performed for the remaining people. Even the songs that could be danced to lacked timing and punch. Meh.

Truth #1-The musicians here are ridiculously talented. Truth #2-Said musicians do a fantastic job at getting the crowd involved. Truth #3-The drinks are really expensive. Truth #4-These drinks will knock you on your ass to the point that you are ok with the cost. One word: Fishbowl. Try it, my friends. You will only need one for the whole night. Truth #5-I will definitely be back.

I will admit, it's hard to explain why I've been to this place four times in the last few months, yet I still claim that it's a 3 star experience. First of all, I am generally pretty anti-cover for going out in Denver, and Howl at the Moon violates that cardinal rule - so each time I've been it's been for someone's "free happy hour party" (which they give out like hot cakes, so if you win one, don't be off to Vegas or anything), in which you get in for no cover and they throw in two cheap drinks for free. Second, I'm a "brown drink" guy, and their selection of bourbon/scotch/whisky is minimal. Stranahan's is the only real unique selection they've got, and that's going to run you about 9 bucks a glass - oh and any place that you order a scotch or bourbon and they try to serve it to you in a shot glass I am automatically very skeptical of. The music here is fun to create a party like atmosphere, but that's about all. I mean if you enjoy hearing Justin Beiber, Baby Got Back, and the Fox Song on repeat from an electric piano and drumset all night, then maybe this place is for you. Good for a bachelorette party maybe, but in general, not my cup-o-tea. The lady likes it, so I keep coming back.

I love Howl at the Moon in general. I think there overall concept, talent, and options are great! They always have very good performances. As well as I love there buffets if you are there early. I am giving 3 stars solely based upon there service which is just A-ok and there false advertising. We got a pamphlet for Dry Dock Apricot Ale on happy hour. We went to get dry dock apricot ale within the HH and they were charging the full price. There excuse was that the pamphlet was old, well couldn't be that old if we were given it to us that night. And after all that they wouldn't honor it? Well ok, whatever. I do love the overall concept so we shall see if I make an effort to come back.

I'll be honest - piano bars are never my first choice, but I always enjoy myself at 'the Moon'. The talent there is unreal! I went for the Yelp Elite Halloween Party and had a really great time! They offered amazing drink specials for us Yelpers and a perfect little buffet of food. There was a line out the door when we left around 9:30pm - it's definitely a weekend hot spot for birthday and bachelorette parties.

Great place for any celebration! Went with a grp of 10-12 for a bday celebration. $8 on a sat & accommodates a large crowd. Even though we got there around 1030p we still got a sweet table with a view of the stage. Plus drinks are STRONG. Fun dancing crowd. Accommodating parking across the street... $10 but so convenient. Some get street parking near wynkoop but I usu park in the lot. More of a band performance than just 2 dueling pianos. But impressive band :) liked one of the woman performers more, the other doesn't sing as well & pretty pitchy :( the core band members in the beg. of the night blew our group away when they all busted out some sweet rap songs :)

After my first visit, my plan was to leave 2 stars. But then I had a unique experience and changed my mind to 1 star. So the first visit was a party won by a friend of a friend. You get 2 free drink tickets and appetizers(while they last) for you and 100 closest friends. What a fun promotion, you think, great way to get people in the door! So a group of us show up and immediately I notice that the dueling piano bar, has pianos, but they are not dueling. They take turns playing with a band. Still cool and talented. They butcher a lot of great songs, but they choose the precise 80's, 90's, and nostalgic tunes to get us all in the dancing groove. Everyone we know has already bailed. We grab our drinks. My friends go for the margaritas, which are barely drinkable and also tastes like there's no booze in it. The bartender kindly adds some more. I get the Maui punch. So sweet I can't drink it. We bring our drinks back and turn in our second tickets for beers. We kind of want to dance but there's only 2 drunk women on the floor at this point. Cue my favorite 90's song. We must dance. But it's really awkward and we scurry away after a few songs. We left around 8. That has to tell you something. Got ourselves all dolled up and found our way downtown, and decided we didn't want to stay. A few days later I'm contacted that I won a similar party! Hooray! Even though the first experience was lackluster, I'm always up for a free party. We learned the first time, just use your tickets on beer! I email back saying I'm interested and can't wait to hear what dates are available. I am told my party will be in 2 days. I explain that I work that day, and 2 days is very little notice to get the shift off, is there another availability? No response. I email to follow up again. No response. Very little bothers me more than non-responsive/rude guest services. I understand that it's a party I won for free, so it's not putting me out at all. I just found the whole experience off putting.

We went here in valentines day to party after dinner. The atmosphere was relaxed, looks like a place where college kids hang out as well as older people. The live band played whatever the guests asked for and they were pretty good. From American pie to Macklemore's thriftshop - they sure knew how to entertain the drunk crowd

I planned a surprise birthday party for a friend with 12 guests and everyone at Howl at The Moon was amazing in helping me plan and throw the event! I could not have thought of a better venue and one with more fun in the atmosphere all night long than Howl at The Moon. I will definitely be back and will be throwing more events there.

Great Happy Hour experience. I thought it would be music and hanging out. The piano players are multi talented. They sing and can play the drums and the guitar. The girl on stage really shined. They are pretty good about playing what you request. To get it played faster put in a few bucks. I recommend getting there early to grab a seat. The HH buffet is a nice spread. I ordered the nachos loaded up with chicken and it was filling enough for two people. The crowd totally engages with the musicians. The drinks are strong. And the customer service is great.

This is one of my favorite places to go out in Denver. The band is really fun and they threw a great Halloween party! The band often takes requests and the number of songs they're able to play is really impressive. They don't do every song spectacularly but it's not bad and again, huge selection of songs. I think there's typically a cover although I've never had to pay - you can win a "free" happy hour and then your whole party gets in for free. There was no cover on Halloween as far as I know. The drinks aren't over priced or cheap, just what I'd expect to pay in Denver. There's a dance floor. The first night I was there the dance floor was PACKED. The second night I was there the dance floor was empty. There are tables but both times I've been there it's been crowded and we were forced to stand. The music is loud, but again the band is good and it's not so loud you can't carry on a conversation. Overall, fun place.

Went there as a friend won one of their contests to bring in 100 friends. The first two drinks were great at $1 each, the signature bucket was a good value as well, tasty and shareable. Good beers on tap. The bartenders paid attention to who was first in line and promptly filled up the water pitcher when I pointed out it was empty. Security did a good job clearing off the stage when it got to crowded and picking up some trash from the dance floor as they walk through it. Waitresses were looking good for the St. Patrick's day festivities. They were pushy to get their job done, but very courteous to guests. They need to improve a couple things. First, the corner of the men's bathroom is not a good place to store extra tables and chairs, clear it out, it is clutter. The broken beer bottle on the floor under the urinal wasn't good either. Second, the area just outside the restrooms is weird, it looks like it was once setup to serve food, but was used with a warming cabinet and waitress pizza break station and walkie-talkies. All this should be behind the scenes, I feel like the wall from the kitchen should be out farther so that this area can be behind the scenes and customers only see it as a large hallway to the bathroom.

I had wayyy more fun at this place than I thought I would! They offer these free parties with $1 drinks all the time so I didn't think it would be anything spectacular but I LOVED the vibe here. There's live music that you can request! Don't forget to tip when you request a song though, that's rude. Haha but they will rotate between a guy and a girl singer. There's a drummer, pianist, the works. Well drinks weren't sitting "well" but that is expected. If you are looking for a quiet place to spend your birthday or chitchat with friends, this is probably not the place. Oooooo!!! And there was this girl walking around in a banana suit with jello shot syringes and whip cream. Yeah....those were good. :D

I LOVE it here. Not only because its a bar but because of the live entertainment. Every time I've been here its been nothing but a GREAT time. The band knows SO many different styles of music from rap, hip hop, country, reggae, and ect. And the best part is that YOU get to pick what they play. Its like having a Jukebox, only difference is that the Jukebox is magical and a band appears in front of you and plays what you ask them too. "OKAY, I'll admit it I had 1 to many special brownies" ANYWHO I'd highly recommend this bar for ANYONE who is wanting to take their out of town friends out on the town. The only Doc in a star would have to be the pricing of the alcohol and the location is a good walk to the next decent bar. Other then that I always have a BLAST when I am here.

While still a great time with good music, I was disappointed how far this bar had fallen from the original concept of dueling piano bar. We all love those songs, and many at the bar do as well, but when u play "Baby Got Back", I wanna c the other musicians try to beat box the rhythm and not use drum sets n guitars...

Bait and Switch: I also won a party for my birthday. At first they offered 2 free drink tickets and an appetizer buffet for me and 100 friends. I decided to have my birthday party at Howl at the Moon based on these drink specials. They emailed me 1 week before the party, and said they changed their deal to $1 for the first two drinks. It was too late to change my plans, so I decided to go anyways. This is the same deal anyone walking in off the street gets, by the way. My friend also won a party that night, so I suspect that's how they keep luring in new folks who think it's their lucky day. Tricky drink specials: Not sure about the other drinks, but a glass of wine (house red) on special is $3.25, then goes up to $6 at the end of the promo period (9pm), and not sure if this was an ongoing mistake by the bartender, but everything after 11pm was a whopping $10! Great Entertainment: the band is very talented! I don't think they actually play songs based on what gets requested, but they have a good playlist and it's very entertaining. I'm only giving Howl at the Moon 2 stars because I think the management lacks integrity and I think there's better options nearby.

Musicians are all multi-instrumentalists, which is very impressive. Engaging and fun. I went to a free happy hour party. Offered ranch dressing, veggies, and nacho making ingredients. My buddy ordered a pizza which was rather soggy but tasted fine. Obviously not a very great place to work. The atmosphere suffers from a false sense of giddiness.

Beware the $16 "souvenir" drink... No prices on the menu. When you have one drink and get a $19 bar tab... it's a bit off-putting. Sing Sing was better, with more personality from the musicians. This was scripted, or the ones working that night just didn't like each other. Extra star for the fun we had, because with my friends, we make it fun no matter what. And who doesn't like getting liquored up and singing along, off-key, to Journey?

I have been to this place quite a few times, I went there for my 30th birthday party actually and my friends and family (over 21 years) joined me. I think it is so much fun! I went for another birthday a while before my own and entered to "win" a free party for myself and all of my friends, I won! Although, every time I enter I "win" so that's great for me. If you need to have a party here just take a couple of people willing to give you their party, in case you don't win (other people in my party didn't win, but I have each time so maybe I am just lucky?) and then use your winning for your actual party. You can also win on FB by liking them and replying on statuses that they post. It is seriously so much fun! You go in and sit down, you have to get there very early to get an actual table unless you want to pay around $125 for a reserved table. We usually show up around 8 and we always find a table. You can order drinks in a bucket and they are worth every penny, they are delicious and full of alcohol. You write down the songs that you want to hear and put them up on the piano and the guys and the 1 girl play them for you. If you are having a party of some sort you can offer them a bit of cash to embarrass the special guest and it's worth it too. There was a waiter there who is short and bald, he is a BLAST! He really makes the atmosphere so much better.

While in Denver on business, my colleagues had reserved a party for us all. You go down a set of stairs below ground. It looks like a combination old saloon bar with a couple levels of small tables & seating at two different levels. They served hors d'oeuvres in a self-serve line, and friendly serving staff mainly serve drinks. There's a stage for two dueling pianos & small drum kits for entertainment and a sizable floor for dancing. They know how to make visitors feel welcome, & the musicians were top notch. If you sing (which I can), they let you get up to sing with them & they take requests. I don't know about their mainline food fare, but it's worth a visit!

Get a few drinks and hit the dance floor - - the bar with the dueling pianos! You can get a buy one get one free on drinks from cards they hand-out but it doesn't include shots.

I was very disappointed at Howl at the Moon on Saturday. BRING SING SING BACK! Howl at the Moon is nothing but a bar concert! Don't order the "bucket" for $36! What a waste! At Sing Sing, we spent probably 2-3 hours there and had a great time! We ordered about 6 buckets and AT LEAST 8 jello shots, walked out of there spending about $120. Saturday ended up costing us $80! All we ordered was 2 buckets and was there for about 30 minutes! We drank our buckets and got out of there as quick as we could! Thank God that Wynkoop Brewing Co was across the street! I came down to find my favorite place, Sing Sing, was closed and that Howl at the Moon was going to be opeing when I got to Denver. To put it shortly, I WILL NEVER BE BACK and have told EVERYBODY that I know to NEVER go there!

A friend of mine won a "party" for 100 guests, which consists of free entry and one free drink ticket (cover is usually $7) so I figured I would go. Because we went on a Saturday, I believe this was different than the "happy hour" for 100 people that is 2 drink tickets and a free buffet....I could be wrong. The musicians here are great, and do their best to accomodate reasonable requests. The best part is they have a group of about four musicians that all rotate between instruments - two pianos, the bass guitar and drums - and then they all sing. I was really pleased with the music. Our server, not so pleased. First, we had a large group. So, we pulled together two tables to accomodate us. Server comes up to us and informs us that it "messes up their sections" and makes us pull them apart. I have worked in several restaurants as both a host and a server and while that may have been true, you suck it up and let the paying customers do what they want with your section. Tough shit. Work something out with the server in the section next to you. After our free drink, a girlfriend and I ordered one of their fish bowl drinks - we got the Kiss the Skyy flavor, by recommendation of our server. It was alright, tasted fine but there was hardly any booze in it. That's the bartender's problem, not our server but for $24 I would like to get drunk. Finally when the bill came, a drink of another person in our group who had left had been placed on my tab, because she had been drinking the same vodka sodas as me. I asked the server why I had been charged for two when one was supposed to be free and she said she put the other vodka soda on my ticket. When I told her it wasn't mine, she looked at me with an absolute blank stare kind of insinuating "what do you want me to do about it". Again, here you could have just taken it off for the whole $1 in Crystal Palace vodka the drink cost the establishment, and saved yourself the negative word of mouth. No. She made me pay for it. The music and atmosphere were really fun, and I might consider going back, but next time I will brace myself for the shotty service.

This was my last stop on a very long night, and I didn't stay long. The band is awesome. The drink I had there was STRONG. I didn't pay a cover, but it was also very late. Everyone there seemed to be having a great time. I definitely want to go back and see how it is when it's earlier and I can stay longer.

Howl at the Moon always guarantees an interesting and entertaining night. I haven't ever been there earlier than about 11:00pm so I can't tell you how the early evening looks but it gets pretty full later. The piano players rotate and play the drums, guitar, even trumpet, and they all sing. They are a pretty talented group and always have great "alternative" lyrics to many well known songs. Sometimes they are not even the main entertainment of the night. Honestly watching the crowd "dance" is so much fun. I have seen a really great interpretive dance to "Bohemian Rhapsody", that is something good money won't buy every night. I love to dance and this place plays a variety of music that is sure to please everyone. A great place for big groups, Howl at the Moon is also a fun place to bring out of towners and people who haven't met before, and aren't afraid to show off their dance moves!

Really entertaining! Went here to celebrate a girl friend's birthday. We debated on buying a jump the line package ($15 for no line waiting, no cover, and one complimentary drink). We decided to just come early and pay the $7 cover. But I did call/email originally to ask for advice on what to do and although no one answered the phone, I did get a prompt email and phone call within a few hours. I really appreciated that. It was a Saturday night so we knew that it would be packed, but because we got there when the doors opened (around 7) we had not wait and were able to get a front row table. If you have a large party and want to sit getting there early is a must unless you want to pay for a reservations package. By 9pm the place was getting pretty full. The show itself starts at 8pm so we decided to get food. They have a very limited bar eats menu (i think chips, nachos, quesadillas, spinach dip, and personal pizzas....literally that's it.) And it was very over priced, I mean $8.50 for a small 4 piece quesadilla? My friend got the chips and salsa which were a little stale and came with a container of what I am sure was Pace salsa. There were no drink specials that night and the prices are pretty typical although they are not listed on the menu. I think the cocktails were like $7-10. My friend got a cocktail and really didn't like it so our server replaced it for free. She also was really good about explaining which drinks would be better worth the money in terms of size and amount of alcohol. She was a little pushy about getting us to order more drinks though... My favorite thing about this piano bar is there is plenty of space for dancing while the performers play. They were all very talented- about 5 performers and they each were multitalented and it was cool to see them all switch between instruments to give each other breaks from the piano. I think they had pianos, drums, bass, harmonica, and an electric guitar. I think of the 4 requests we put in, they played 3 of them. Give a small tip with your request and they will be more likely to play it. So one star off for food quality but it's clear that this place is all about music, drinks, and dancing. If you're a music junkie and love to dance, this is the place to be!

The wait staff was very friendly, but a dueling piano bar it was not. It should be billed as a live cover band bar. Though the musicians were talented, they did nothing to get the crowd involved. So disappointed. It was a place to dance to mediocre music. By 10 o'clock on a Friday night the place was almost empty. Bring back the dueling pianos and singing!!!

You have to try pretty hard not to have a good time at this place. All of the musicians just looked like they really enjoyed doing what they were doing. The drinks were really good and reasonably priced. Our server was attentive but not bothersome. We would like to thank Carrie and her bachelorette party for making this night out a blast. I think we had as much fun just watching them as they did partying.

Oh well!

  • Florence S.

I came to Howl at the Moon with some friends for a bachelor/ bachelorette party and it was a great experience. The basic setup is this: stage in the middle with two pianos, guitar, drums, bass, etc for instruments. You have little sheets of paper at your table and simply write down the song you want heard and put in in the jar. It's pretty simple that way. Drinks were fairly priced, and it was only a $5 door charge (Military got in free that night too!) The current group in incredible. They had a long and varied set list and played just about everything that was requested. When they didn't play something requested, it was usually substituted for something very similar. (Bohemian Rhapsody was amazing to hear!) Occasionally you want them to just stick to the pianos and not do as much with the full band, but that's not really their fault, more personal preference. It could get a little loud in there, which made it hard to talk to your table. Awesome experience, 10/10 would go again!

The music and piano are AWESOME!! The food is mediocre at best. They lost the cook during happy hour. Had to order from Fado's. Ordered nachos and pork didn't come on the nachos as the menu stated. Drinks were descent.

My husband and I ended up here by recommendation of a hotel Converge. It was very near our restaurant selection and right outside of Coors Stadium. We enjoyed the scenic walk around downtown Denver on our way. The musicians were very talented and didn't stop the show in the three hours we were there. They had several musicians, probably 6 so they all rotated and occasionally gathered as a full band. We had a lot of fun, and enjoyed the variety of music know by the musicians. We will definitely return in the future.

Get a few drinks and hit the dance floor - - the bar with the dueling pianos! You can get a buy one get one free on drinks from cards they hand-out but it doesn't include shots.

A friend of mine won a free happy hour for 100 people and even got to pick the day she wanted to come. Everyone gets 2 free drinks and a free buffet. I'm never one to turn down free drinks - totally there. The place opens at 5:00 but the music doesn't get started until 6:00. I guess the point of getting there an hour before the music is to get a table and get liquored up before they start playing but I could have arrived at 6:00 and been equally happy. I had three cranberry vodka's (someone gave me there ticket) and they were good, maybe a bit on the week side - they were free. The buffet was nothing to write home about, some spinach and artichoke dip, nachos, salsa, and nacho like items to accompany the chips. Also some fresh veggies. Our waiter was funny and kept us entertained to say the least before the show started. I really enjoyed the dueling piano's, some young regular looking guys busting out all the music on the books. They knew everything, you can request songs by writing the song on a napkin and handing it up, so the night can be what you want it to be. They played Bruce Springstein, Lady Gaga (i know right), Tic Toc, Madonna, and so much more. They just know the songs and have a little humor to boot. Tips: -Go for a song or two and fill out an entry to win the free happy hour. Are you really going to turn down the chance to win a HH for 100 people. -Put in some song requests and see what the night becomes. I can't attest to the bathroom comments in the other reviews - sounds odd to have someone monitoring the bathroom I should be back to stay a little longer and enjoy more songs.

I went to the one in Kansas City and really enjoyed that one. This one is a bit more tame, but still good. Very accommodating for bachelorette parties and birthday parties. Kind of an expensive cover, but if you come for an event it's fine. Drinks are pricey and more sugar than alcohol, but that's part of the ambiance. The musicians are great and know a ton of songs. They get mad when you dance onstage without an invitation. They always have some promotion running with lots of forms to fill out, but you get pretty decent stuff if you win. I bet they could do well if they developed a phone app for that stuff to make it easy to enter. The bouncers are a bit grumpy, flirt with them a little and they relax a bit.

So fun! You should know- it's very busy, and crowded, and you'll more than likely have to stand. That being said I was impressed with this place. They have REALLY strong drinks. The buckets are really tasty. They also have like bathroom babysitters....which I found really weird at first. But, as you get tipsier she helps you get paper-towels and also gives you kit kats, which will make her your favorite person in the place. I'd go back here for a rowdy time.

You really have to admire the musicians at Howl at the Moon. They are versatile and strong musicians. They are also very good sports. If I were a man, I don't know how I'd feel about singing Teenage Dream. I thought the silly requests made were a detraction to the show. However, I love that you could request music and they'd play it right away. They were all very talented. The issue with Howl at the Moon would be the price and the potency of their drinks. I am a lightweight and usually, I'm done after two single shot drinks. I supposedly had 3, 2 shot drinks and I was pleasantly buzzed. Usually, that amount of alcohol would make it difficult for me to walk. The drinks were expensive and I had a flyer for a free drink. When we got there, it was buy one get one free....and they gave you both drinks at once, so, when it's summer time, you're 2nd drink is going to be watered down. Their complimentary buffet was anemic and their food was okay. They should really have a better selection of food - more protein, less junk.

Underwhelmed is the word I would use to describe this place. While I was impressed on a whole with the piano players, and especially in their breadth of song knowledge, but I was unimpressed with the place on a whole. The Drinks were small, not stiff, and expensive. The beer menu was expensive, and very limited. They had some group fufu drinks, which we did not try. The food menu, was very small and very boring. The service was poor as well, sparse, and forgetful, as well as we had a waitress spill a tray near us that got my wife very wet, and they were not helpful at all in cleaning it up. We had never been to sing sing before it became howl at the moon, and several of our group said it was better then. On a whole I would say that if you are going mainly for the piano playing and don't really care about eating or drinking, then this may be the place for you. But if you are looking for a well rounded bar experience, I would try else where.

This was my last stop on a very long night, and I didn't stay long. The band is awesome. The drink I had there was STRONG. I didn't pay a cover, but it was also very late. Everyone there seemed to be having a great time. I definitely want to go back and see how it is when it's earlier and I can stay longer.

Came here once before in 2009 for a bachelorette party and it was fun so on my vacation, I decided to show the man the piano bar. We signed up for the e-mail promotion which meant we were to get in for free and each get one free drink: specialty drinks and buckets not included. We each chose a draft and the man went up to the bar with the tokens we were given when we showed the e-mail promotion at the front. Now the customer service began in a not-so-great fashion when the woman at the front was clearly dismayed by our e-mail. I thought she was rude and lacked a smile but I moved on. The woman at the bar was even worse, however. She told us that the tokens we were given at the front meant that each of us had to buy a drink and then we would get the same drink for free. My man, therefore, could not get a different draft (though they were the same price) than I chose, and the e-mail specifically stated "enjoy one drink on us for you and your guest." Um...excuse me? The man explained this to the bartender and she said "Well I can't do anything about that," handed him the two Boston Reds(?) and turned away after he paid for one. He brought the beers back and I explained that the e-mail explicitly stated that we were to each receive one free drink and that it never mentioned they had to be the same. I recommended he go back. The bartender still claimed she could do nothing for him, this time with more of an attitude. I've worked in the service industry for over six years. If a customer is unhappy, you make them happy and then explain the situation to your boss later. 9 times out of 10 your boss will support your decision. My man asked for the manager and they said he was unavailable. He persisted and they finally went to fetch him. Here's where things begin to turn around. Eric, the manager, came to our table and already knew what the issue was. Maybe it's just me but that means you're continuously having the same problem but your staff is incompetent and cannot manage on their own. He apologized profusely, told us that we were absolutely correct, and offered to make it right any way we wanted. At this point I had checked out and wouldn't even talk to him. My man explained that it was me he needed to please (since I would most certainly review the establishment on several social networking sites HAHAHA) and suggested he give us new drinks of our choice and Eric agreed (he also refunded the beer we had bought earlier). He brought us a gin and tonic (for me) and an old fashioned (for the man), both top shelf. We took Eric's suggestion and decided to start the night from that point on. This makes reviewing the place difficult. The first half of the night was awful but the second half was great! We had funny people to watch, we got our requests played, we danced, we bought jell-o shots and two more of the same cocktails (from a new bartender who was just so sweet even though she had seen me acting like a petulant child when I had experienced embarrassingly poor service), and we thoroughly enjoyed the night. Eric even checked on us one more time to make sure the night had improved before we left for the night. If I come back into town, I would come back. Pros: The seating in the bar is nice, the establishment is clean, the drinks are good, the environment is fun. Management is very helpful if you seek them out as well. Cons: Service is hit or miss, the bathroom attendants make you feel uncomfortable (I'm not giving you a dollar for handing me a paper towel), and it can be super crowded one weekend and empty the next. All in all, I would say this bipolar experience deserves three stars because the beginning would have received one from me while the second half would have received four, four and a half. If you want to come, don't have TOO high of expectations, and certainly sign up to try to win a party or free admission. Good luck!

We went there on their opening night, lots of people (drunk people). It's hard to get a drink since the bartender and waitresses were always so busy. I have never been to a piano bar before, I guess I would describe this place as a big karaoke place with lots of drunk people. I think it would be fun place to hang out with a group of friends who are into singing songs from the past. :D

This place is fun! I don't understand the low ratings. They'll play any song you request. Even the Alabama A&M University anthem:-). The entertainers are great. You can dance. You can even get on stage. The staff is very friendly. I'll have to try the food next time. This place is great for a fun outing.

My friend won a party for 100 guests which included a free buffet and 2 free drink tickets (Happy Hour party) The buffet was okay with carrots, cucumbers, crackers, and meatballs. The drinks were small, but were free. The bucket drinks were huge and strong. The music was great, as the musicians played everything from John Denver to Lady Gaga. Overall, it was an enjoyable time with singing and dancing. Well worth the trip for a bachelorette party or birthday. Interesting enough, the restroom matron takes credit cards for tips.

Stopped in on a Friday night with some friends and there was a great crowd out that night. First time being here and had a really good time. Loved the performances and all the songs that were requested that night. The waitress we had was awesome! Our original one disappeared and the new chick just served us, however the bartender was a little rude when we were at the bar and had to wait 5 minutes before she served us when no one was at the bar- but that didn't ruin my night. Overall, I had a great experience, never even knew there was a place/ bar like this and I've lived in Colorado all my life.

I had a lot of fun at this bar. My two stars are not for the entertainment, because they get 5. My two stars goes to the waitress we had that night. THere were probably about 20-25 people total in the bar including my group (in the middle of the week). She was the only waitress there, so I tried not to fault her for that, however, she would keep going back to the same two tables plenty of times before she ever hit our table up. We had seen her three times, once to tell her what we want, the next for her to bring us what we ordered, and last to get the bill. Two tables in the bar that night were getting most of her attention (maybe they were tipping her more as she brought drinks out?) Either way that pretty much did it for me (although the entertainment was awesome) we wanted to enjoy the entertainment and have more than 1 drink. :\. I'll probably be back, but not anytime soon and definitely not on a weeknight.

Good luck!

Best piano show by far!!!! Fun and attentive servers. This place is a guaranteed great night out. We will definitely be coming back and bringing more friends.

Oh well!

Cheers!!

Meh.

I can't get enough of this place! Great entertainment, service and an overall amazing atmosphere. Highly recommend for group outings, parties and corporate functions!

Such a great time! We went for the Yelp Halloween Party and stayed for way longer than planned. The band is phenomenal and drink specials are always extremely reasonable. Will definitely be coming back again!
